i'll answer this in the context of my aus. depending on the au there are minor differences though! and i hope you don't mind if i yap a little bit under the cut!

the most important part of this question is how wasuke's personality would mesh with them respectively so it's important to first consider what type of person wasuke is and how he would engage each of them. besides his appearances in the manga/anime we can deduce some of his personality through yuuji (how he was raised, his conduct, etc).

wasuke seems to be very even-tempered, family-focused so i think choso would get along the most with wasuke. choso is very gentle at heart and also family-oriented himself so wasuke would think highly of choso who is very outrightly passionate about it. wasuke himself doesn't seem to be overly affectionate physically or verbally but we know that he cared deeply for yuuji. choso being sort of the opposite way complements him well, at least in the context of caring for yuuji and i see him appreciating choso for making up for perhaps what he would consider his own limitations. wasuke would probably find it embarrassing but as a grandfather who loves his family he would be grateful for having choso in their lives.

sukuna and wasuke would clash more but not to the point where there is any real tension. i think they would bicker a lot, but only because they both seem like the stubborn type....probably share other personality traits too...idk..i feel it in my bones (and tbh in normal peoples au sukuna had a weird edgy phase where wasuke found him cringe af and he never let sukuna live it down 😭). in unckuna au and 12 years au they would both be very involved in rearing yuuji so they'd have long discussions about things after yuuji went to bed or something so this gives them a purpose to get along. not saying that sukuna wouldn't get along with him but to be completely honest sukuna is not the type of character to really care about much beyond himself. so they're like coworkers........but the work is yuuji. sukuna would respect wasuke out of principle (principle being he is an elder, he is his father/grandfather) and wasuke expects that from him, the end.

but knowing people like wasuke, neither of them are getting praise from him no matter how well they do or how much they impress him lol. he will tell them off immediately if they do anything wrong, and is not the type to say pretty words. if he wants to be nice to them he'll probably show it through action though; he'll go out of his way to buy their favourite fruit ("i got x today at the market, peel/cut them up for us"), drink tea and have snacks in the same room instead of sitting on the porch alone, things like that.

about the birth order...i think that's complicated. in normal peoples au i usually consider choso the oldest by a couple years (kaori's child from a past marriage or an ex). if it's the cousin choso au (where kenjaku is kaori's brother) he's around the same age as sukuna give or take. in sorceror au where he is a death painting choso is the oldest by far but sukuna won't acknowledge him as family for reasons (usually infantile and superficial) 😭😭😭.

in most aus sukuna kind of looks down on him for not looking like them and/or for not being human, and in most aus choso is not interested in sukuna beyond asking him to stop being mean to yuuji. almost writing off sukuna as yuuji's brother at all. almost... if it's any uncle au it's harder for him to ignore that i think...choso respects his elders...unfortunately...(he secretly thinks ill of sukuna in his head).

This is a question for mod! (If it's okay to ask, obviously you don't have to answer) Is Alastor fully aro/ace in your au, or is he on the spectrum? Obviously whatever the answer is, it's okay, I'm mostly asking for curiosity and so I don't end up asking redundant questions in the future. Is he more on the demi side and after years with Vox he'll start to feel some type of romantic affection, or will that never happen? If it does or doesn't, would he be open to romantic or even sexual gestures or is he repulsed by both when directed at him, no matter who it is? Totally okay if you'd rather not answer and keep things ambiguous too ofc 💖

Okay, so here's a bit of babble. And spoilers? I guess?

First, never worry about redundancies. It's going to keep happening until I actually take the time to organize a master list of posts tbh XDD

I keep these thing purposefully vague because, well, a lot of these terms are new and they wouldn't have the words for them back then. That said, I do write Vox as bi and Al as aroace, though Al truly believes he is straight and just hasn't found the right girl. He has no reason to believe this other then the environment he's been living in. He doesn't find girls more 'attractive' or anything, he just respects them more because of his mother.

That said, in general, Vox and Al have been....complicated and happy, for a while now. Al has never felt any kind of romantic or sexual attraction to Vox, and he never will. He is totally and completely fine with romantic and, even some, sexual statements directed at him...but only from Vox. Because he trusts Vox to respect his boundaries, especially the ones that go unspoken. He tries very hard to be 'available' for potential suitable girls, but there is always something about their touch that is going to make him uncomfortable. When Vox does it, Al just chalks it up to Vox being Vox, and he kinda really likes the attention. The romantic stuff makes him feel loved, even if he doesn't return the feelings. The more sexualizing stuff makes him feel sexy, wanted, and pretty, even if he doesn't want to actually do anything.

As far as how repulsed he is about physical stuff initiated on him...that's going to be addressed down the further down the grapevine. That's Al testing his own waters and maybe realizing he swam too far.

All that said, Al calls Vox his 'partner' sometimes just to mean 'partner in crime' but, honestly, because he's unsure what else to call him. He'd call him his 'best friend', only he's pretty sure Rosie is his 'best friend' and there is a lot of stuff he would never feel comfortable telling Rosie about, but would be completely fine explaining to Vox. As I've said in the past, they've already tested the limits of their relationship by the time of the main story. Vox is so much more than a just friend to Alastor, but he has no idea what else there is supposed to be! Especially since he really doesn't love him romantically. Nor does he find him particularly attractive. He cares for him, but he's not sure how or in what ways.

Vox is his first real experience learning what love is.

(Vox knows all of this. He doesn't care. He loves Al, and he'll give him anything and everything that Al would feel comfortable getting. He's better at telling what's going on in Al's head than Al himself most of the time.)

TLDR: I write him as aroace, and where he lands on the spectrum of physicality is treading into spoiler territory.

To be completely honest I still haven't planned anything that's worth of an actual fic (who do you take me for? An organized person? HA) but I would lie if I said that I didn't think about it a lot, so

As you know, somehow in this AU Hyacinthus came back to life and started working for the emperors

The dynamics of how, exactly, it all happened are pretty undefined as of now, but that's secondary information and it's not really important. (Maybe.)

What you need to know though is that Commodus is the one who takes him in, because of course he does. Hyacinthus is the perfect revenge against Apollo, after all, both because he's known to be his greatest love, and seeing him side against him would hurt Apollo a lot, and because, whatever happened, Commodus would always have leverage against Apollo, in a "You don't want to do what I tell you? Well look what I can do to your precious little flower" sort of way

He also uses this as an excuse to get back at Hyacinthus himself, too—something that is a direct result his festering inferiority complex and the can of worms that are, again, his feelings upon seeing the one man Apollo's name is always associated with

Hyacinthus is a better man and fighter than him even when he's brainwashed and he just CAN'T stand it

It all worsens once he sees how much Lester is still attached to Hyacinthus, and how hard he tries to get him to snap back. He never cared that much for him after all, did he?

On Hyacinthus' end this all borders less on the side of drama and more on the side of comedy LMAO

While not being able to discern right from wrong atm, as he's been coerced into absolute obedience through very shady means, he has this unexplainable feeling inside him that he really, really doesn't like Commodus (which intensifies every time Commodus starts another one of his long rants about how bad and evil and selfish Apollo is and about how he'll absolutely get his revenge) and he expresses that through little jabs he makes in his direction that Commodus can't really do anything about because they are worded in a way that makes them seem innocuous

On the other hand, he's on civil terms with the rest of the "staff", so to speak, and some even respect him because of how skilled he is (specifically Lityerses) so he does have some allies there

They don't actually know who he is though since, while he works for the emperors, Hyacinthus is never referred to by his own name, but always by some sort of epithet

(This is why Meg never made the connection either, despite knowing the myth well enough to inform Grover that Hyacinthus was Apollo's boyfriend)

It's mostly a measure they take so Hyacinthus doesn't remember his past before they're actually done using him

As for Apollo and Hyacinthus' relationship in this, it's a bit complicated, because Apollo changes his stance and tries to get him on his side the moment Hyacinthus' disguise drops, while Hyacinthus doesn't remember him. At all. So his efforts don't really work

Which results in a lot of frustration and hurt feelings

Despite this, Hyacinthus' unexplainable feelings persist. And he's very confused :)

I'm still not sure when this would be set—I wanted to either limit this to The Dark Prophecy or make it a "he appears occasionally as a spy or something until they find out who he is" thing that spans over the five books (without actually retelling the whole story though because holy shit that would be exhausting) but that's something that can be figured out later oof

Anyway, keep in mind that this is all just a result of my daydreaming, so if I actually write something concrete about this, some plot points might change!! And also the dynamics!! And the vibes in general!!! My brain is just a dumpster fire tbh so expect a lot of mental U-turns here

I did very, very vague research, and apparently, it's usually only given to people who go to AA meetings, but Apollo did go to rehab, so I'm just wondering if he had any

this is literally such a good question - i vaguely knew about them, but i hadn't even considered it for apollo! i just did a little bit of research and honestly, i think he def does!

i think that he got one back when he first went to rehab/then left, but then he continued to do a mini celebration for himself, because it wasn't something that he really shared with his kids/wanted to share with his kids. i think that you can actually buy them online, but they're not like official or anything, and so now i'm in between whether he'll just buy himself a chip for the number of years he's been sober just because he likes having the physical reminder (plus i hc he's a bit of a collector and a lot of a hoarder, if you could tell from my description of his house and all of the posters/awards - he had to do a lot of calls to make sure to get all of his awards and everything out of his father's studios and houses and whatnot bc he wanted them all in his own place! it sounded a bit egoistic when you would think of all the things with his name on it around the house, but that's really just because he'd rather have it in his own home collecting dust rather than collecting dust on one of his father's shelves)

OR i also think it woudl be very sweet if latricia made, like, self-decorated coins or something to celebrate the anniversary every year after she got a random call two years after being sober where apollo was just quiet for a few moments and then told her, because he didn't really have anyone else to tell, and so he just called her out of the blue bc she was the only one he could think to tell this too - and he wanted to tell someone about it, because otherwise it wouldn't really feel real to him plus he was pretty proud of it

and then in the mail like a week later comes a little coin that with 2 on it, clearly handmade by taking like a poker chip or something and just painting it, and apollo like puts it on his nightstand, eventually joined by future coins year after year because lavinia doesn't forget it

so they're not REALLY sobriety coins in the sense that they're from A.A. / official, (even though he does have one of those), but they're more like little mementos and just reminders that it does matter! and he should be proud of himself, and he cares more about them than any of the other trophies scattered around his house

(can you tell i love latricia and apollo friendship like i just think they're platonic soulmates in this au tbh. i think naomi and apollo could have also been great like that if they had a chance, but their relationship was always a bit more complicated and apollo would always be a bit in love with her, and then darren is- well, he's darren. so latricia and apollo <33)

Totally different questions, lol. But yes, thank you for indulging my Seal Mommy Feels. Also, this got incredibly long because I guess I had more to say about this than I thought

Within the main timeline of HOTD, it's complicated. He's definitely different than she expected, & its two-fold. Aldreda is used to Manly Raider Men who want their power & use said power to (metaphorically & perhaps literally on occasion) helicopter their dicks around in a way that becomes everyone's problem (note: everyone's problem on purpose). So there's that, & her pre-conceived notions about mainlanders; namely, they're weak & soft & ineffectual & out of touch & have superiority complexes re the Ironborn. She's expecting either one, or maybe some Powerful Ironborn Men As Filtered Through Greenborn Monolith Beliefs. Because grasping for power is normal to her, this kind of inter-family drama is normal to her. She's in a succession crisis back home! And you have to remember, she's not just been living away from King's Landing & the interpersonal Targ drama, Aldreda has been living out in the most isolated point at the most far Western reaches on the map. She doesn't know Aegon & his motivations from a hole in the wall.

She's very much thrown for a loop when Aegon doesn't want his power, & when his cope for trying to make the best of this situation is trying to be the best goddamn king anyone has ever seen. Granted, he's rough & unpracticed & he doesn't think about far-reaching consequences, but he's making a solid attempt to do right by people. That's fucking wild to her & she kind of doesn't get it. I mean, she does because her dad isn't a tyrant, he makes sure his smallfolk are managing, but it's getting done with obvious thought towards his own concessions. Aegon is seemingly inventing socialism & forgetting the cost of his own upkeep. She's a little judgey, tbh, because it kind of reinforces her "the greenborn are soft & out of touch" beliefs, but here's the thing: he likes her. She makes sex jokes in the small council meetings, she loudly razzes the other members, she's the Party Council Member who also wants him to take his job seriously. Best of both worlds: the irresponsibility of his yes-men, the buckling down & taking the job seriously he wants for himself. So they get close in a way because Aegon seeks her out as a member of the small council he can trust to be on his side, because in his mind she gets it. Plus a promise was made to her in his name & he wants to know what his little red wagon got hitched to.

So her opinion shifts a bit from "pure judgement" to kind of seeing him like her brother Trystifer who was the heir when she started raiding & died at 14 from drunkenly falling out of a tower. And if he'd lived, Trystifer would be only 2 years older than Aegon. She sees a lot of overlap between them, & I'm not gonna say she projects Trystifer onto him because she's got her own weird thing going on with her brothers, but she takes a kinder view of him.

ALL OF THIS NOW OUT OF THE WAY, her opinions on Eggles aren't doing a whole lot in regards to the relationship with Alicent. On Aldreda's end, she is very much compartmentalizing there. "This is my boss's mom & my boss occupies a similar mindspace as one of my brothers" & "this is a hot girl I want to rail till she can't see straight" do not touch in her mind. And for Alicent, she was close with Aldreda (& they maybe even fucked, idk the timeline of anything yet), before she stopped being harshly judgmental of Aegon. I think the most that would go on would be Aldreda softening towards him giving Alicent some pause as to "why" & wanting to get it because, like, Aldreda didn't need to start liking him because everything was squared away without his input.

In the modern AU, things are actually really different just by the nature of New Timeline Who Dis.

We start closer to Aegon because she was his idea instead of him getting told "this is your Master Of Ships, you're giving her a decree that her family has to follow Andal succession laws like everyone else." He hires actual real security detail because, y'know, he needs that, & gets given Aldreda as his new bodyguard. The dynamic is automatically different there; he's abdicated in the modern au, he's an obnoxious internet celebrity who doesn't care what's brought a minor noble away from the Islands to slum it (not actually slumming it, she just has a job lol). They're both kind of "I know you have things you don't want to talk about, & I won't ask & you won't tell me & we'll have a great working relationship." And they do! She likes him (even if he is a little obnoxious), he's a fun time, he comes around to respecting her time (because she's definitely got more freedom to lay into him here). Overall, she enjoys Party Boss.

This does make the Alicent thing weirder though. Well, sort of. Aldreda doesn't care. She's never met ethics & is definitely willing to turn her casual friendship with Alicent into something more. Alicent's dad is the head of a major PR firm & she does care about ethics so she tries to fight her hots for her son's new employee. It doesn't go well & they bang on Alicent’s couch.

Alicent attempts to fight the burgeoning relationship a little more in the modern AU, because it's not just "a little unethical given our positions" here, it's actually sort of an HR & PR nightmare. Aldreda straight up quits her job to be with Alicent. Full on John Cusack Say Anything standing outside with a boom box energy. "Babe, please don't end the situationship, come outside & kiss me to this Chappel Roan song, I quit my job so I can ethically eat your pussy."

Yes this makes things awkward for a bit. "Lost my employee to my mom & now she's kind of my step-mom" type deal. Aldreda is fully willing to transfer her good rapport over, & only sort of works so she gets a little insecure. Because, sure, new girlfriend, but the new girlfriend's kids liking her is not a thing she could just copy/paste to the changed relationship & she has to work towards that again. It's easier with some than others & it becomes a thing Alicent has to reassure her on quite a bit for a while.

Hello! Hope this isn't a bother, but do you have any tips for thinking up plots? I mean for the whole story. Reading Nie Wirst made me want to try to write something longer, but I'm a bit lost since all I've ever written are short one-shots or drabbles. Again, hope this isn't bothering you, feel free to ignore it! Also, this goes without saying but I'm looking forward to the sequel if you do write it

Hi! I love this question, thank you for asking it 😊 I'm pretty sure you'd get a variation of answers depending on who you ask, so my way might not necessarily work for you. (I'm thinking of this as a fun Pick&Mix of things that work for me and might work for others.)

My strategies differ for different kinds of writing. When I'm working on a poetry collection, it sometimes takes years to accumulate enough individual poems that fit together for me to start working on the arc or through-line of that collection. This just for context, since you did ask me about prose.

Whether for fanfiction or original fiction, I've found that I can only keep up my motivation for a longer piece if I am absolutely obsessed with it. Was wird aus uns was born from the immediate aftermath of me seeing Rebecca in Vienna, reading the book and pretty much every single fic on Ao3 and just needing those two fools to be okay. That one really came out of pure obsession. Nie wirst Du was a lot more considered and since the plot is quite complex, I did plan things ahead of time.

I'm going to try and sum up some of the things that I need in order to sustain my focus for a longer piece of writing under the cut!

I need to be absolutely obsessed with the initial idea. No matter how interesting a concept or fic idea is in theory, if it doesn't have that spark of obsession I might toss it around in my head for fun, but I won't actually write it. If an idea doesn't grip me enough that I'm constantly looking forward to the next plot point I'm "working towards", then I'll get bored and abandon the piece. This is especially true for fic. For Was wird aus uns, the first plot point everything was moving towards was their first kiss. Then Christmas, and then, finally, Danny's collapse and the changes that it brought. With Nie Wirst Du, I was constantly hooked, tbh. It's a little bit like a soap opera in that it has many twists and turns, very complicated relationship dynamics and many big feelings. Some plot points I was working towards there were the tea party and the costume ball. Once I knew what the fallout from the ball was going to be, I had a much better idea of how things would continue to escalate develop.

I figured out how I need to approach plot. A friend of mine is a hardcore plotter with detailed outlines, diagrams and everything. I used to try and approach plot like that with the result that by the time I'd thought everything through, I was bored and didn't actually write the story anymore. The thing I do is apparently called pantsing. It means I know the inciting incident of the story, maybe a few major plot points and I have at least a vague idea of how I want it to end. There is an overarching structure, but it's loose enough that it keeps me interested. I can decide to add or take away smaller plot elements without having to do major rewrites.

There needs to be a drive to the story. I need a sense of movement when I'm writing. Even if a story is set entirely in one place, there needs to be some undercurrent of change or development. If the story feels static, I don't have any way of getting a character from point A to point B.

I write the things I want to see. If you find yourself looking through Ao3 thinking "I wish someone had written about xyz", then that might be a sign for you to write the fic you're looking for! For example, I needed a happy ending for Danny and Ich, so I wrote one. Then I became really interested in learning more about Rebecca as a character. Who is she outside of the stories being told about her? To find that out, I needed a story where she was alive and since I didn't want to write a prequel, the idea for Nie Wirst Du was born.

I hope this was somewhat help or at least interesting! It also really helps to have a person who's just as excited about your story idea as you are. They might ask you questions you hadn't considered and give you a whole new insight into what you're writing. Feel free to ask more questions about this if you want. This was really fun!

Yes!! modern reincarnation au I love it so much, I've been thinking about it for days!! Would you ever write something about how Jack and Chick got together? Did they have their memories when they met again and were they together in the past? How does Jack feel about Bucky when he meets him again; about parenting Bucky with Chick once he realizes that Bucky doesn't remember? I have so many feels about their little family! I have thought about how Jack and Chick get together, but I currently have no plans to write their story (though that could change, my writing plans are less plans rn and more along the lines of just post whatever gets finished). So buckle up and prepare for my Modern Jack & Chick lecture.

Jack and Chick were together in their past lives the same way Buck and Bucky were. They were a little less 'if anything happens to you I'm going to set the world on fire and die' about each other, but honestly that's most likely best for everyone.

In their modern life, Jack and Chick meet while both are in the air force, but when they met neither had their memories back. They also don't start dating until Jack leaves the air force to go work as a chief of staff and campaign manager for a variety of different political figures. Its a few years before the pair meet up again as both go about their lives completely unaware of their old life but still feeling like they're missing something (a bit of right person wrong time). During that time, Chick adopts Bucky and after a few years retires. He settles in DC and starts making a few of his own political connections, liaising with the State Department among other things. (BTW I don't know if anyone caught this in the previous installments but Chick is the Secretary of State when Bucky meets Buck) Nothing serious yet because he's choosing to focus on being a dad for Bucky, but he's keeping himself relevant in the world for when Bucky hits high school/college and leaves the nest. This is when Jack and Chick meet again at some DC social party where Jack asks Chick out to dinner because goddamn neither of them have to worry about fraternization laws anymore (and being a dad outside of the air force looks good on Chick). Its not until their fifth date that their memories come back, so their relationship has a foundation not completely built in their first life. Less stress than we see with Buck and Bucky, but again I don't think anyone does it like them tbh.

Now, onto Jack and Bucky. Look, there's a reason Bucky refers to Chick as his father but calls Jack by his name in this au. Jack never adopts him even after he marries Chick. They're family don't get me wrong, but its complicated.

Jack in all honesty starts off very conflicted about Bucky. At first, he sees him as his boyfriend's kid, someone he liked and could see himself maybe parenting if things with Chick went that route, but after his memories come back, that's what he struggles with most because Bucky is the only person he's met besides Chick from their past lives. He ends up pulling away from Bucky, acting stiff and cold to the kid. Bucky, in turn, does not like Jack at all at this point. He's dealt with a lot in his short little life, and for a bit, he acts like a brat around Jack as he thinks the other is trying to steal Chick from him and leave Bucky abandoned and alone, which would never happen Chick would never leave his kid nor would Jack ever allow that to happen. Jack eventually comes to terms with seeing Bucky as the person he is now instead of the man he was (a very big theme for me in this au) which helps settle some of the discord between them. Bucky also gets sat down by Chick to figure out why he has such a problem with Jack, and all of Bucky's fears about being abandoned come out. They eventually grow to care for each other, and their relationship is really cute.

Modern Reincarnation AU has such an intricate universe in my head I won't lie. I have so many thoughts about every aspect of it, and I am so glad someone asked because I love to yap.

3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?

oh this is a very interesting question i had to think about it for a while tbh mmh i think i learned that i can write realism / realistic stuff, it is a bit stupid because i've written modern au all my life as a writer but it was always short, not fully developed etc. or i needed another au to back up. And also I'd ignore some reality that I'm faced with every day in those os, like i was not worth it to write about "serious" stuff. And I didn't mind it for a long time because I still enjoyed the stuff I wrote that are "simple" or with more aus, but I think I found myself a new thing to explore. Even if it's a bit hard because the idea of fully modern / no aus means that I have to carefully think about every scenes and where I want to go exactly, which I don't often do when I write fantasy or idk hogwarts au for exemple, because the plot is more important than the relationship. However this year showed me I can do it! I can think and explore deeply feelings and developing relationships. I have no idea if I make sense right now!! or if it's clear but I hope it is!

9. What fic meant the most to you to write?

aah.. i'm gonna try not to answer always the same fics hehe tbh I really really was glad of writing vistal sul mare because I absolutely love the song, it has been out for a year already and I found the lyrics extremely romantic and beautiful. I knew there was something to do there. And when I suddenly got the idea it was so clear, it felt so good to write this fic maybe because it involves a song and trains which I love and when I think about the state I was in when writing it was a really happy and peaceful feeling. A lot of people told me this fic was nostalgic / had a nostalgia vibe also so it was a nice compliment. I will also add still lingering around (me) was meaningful because my personal hobby is to read mystery / thriller novels but I never wrote any fics like that!! so when I saw the prompt I knew I had to try. I had a more complicated plot line at first but it ended being a "simple" mystery (with not much investigation) then meant to but it was still a new genre to write and I liked it a lot.

24. What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story?

Oh!! great so I can explain more for still lingering around (me). So yeah I was scared of mystery plots because I felt like I needed a looot of thinking to make something believable (my first plotline of this fic is like four pages long, it involved a murder investigation lmao) but it made me unable to write anything for a few months. Then the deadline was coming closer and I had to force myself to write and idk.. I realized I didn't need to overthink stuff or to make it soo complicated, that I could go for what I thought was the easy way and the plot would be good enough. So I guess it changed the story a lot but more like a whole part of it never showed up in the writing process!

29. If this were an awards show, who would you thank?

AHAHA i love this question it's so good definitely my two irl friends who read as I write most of the time and comment and hype me up, like I have trouble to keep on writing when I don't get feedbacks immediately so thank god they are here also everyone on my twitter acc :( god everyone has been so cute to me this year... To call it angst is perhaps overselling the yearning happening there, but probably protective measures.

What do you mean "favorite"? I'm supposed to pick? I can't even pick a current favorite, considering I'm writing a whole polycule of various ships for G&D and I love them all.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I've accepted that my older unfinished works are going to stay that way, but sometimes I do think about The Journey. The end of that fic was going to involve Jinora and Opal leaving the Eastern Air Temple, to be followed by a sequel where they travelled to Zaofu, then the Southern Water Tribe, and then through the Fire Nation. The third story in the series would have brought them to Republic City, where they would establish Air Temple Island. The story as I began it just had too many plot holes, though, and I ended up losing interest in the primary romantic relationship.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I do a decent job with pacing. It turns out that I'm good at planning out a cohesive narrative that will play out over the course of a series; working out the snags is part of the fun. I like when unnoticed details are given greater/changed meaning or depth later on. (I learned that from @ourimpavidheroine!) Oh and my friends say I write pining well, LOL.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Figuring out plots driven by anything but the characters' emotional beats. (This is why I've written thousands of words of fanfic this year, and simply cannot get an original novel out of the planning stages.) I so wish I could write a complicated political plot, or a mystery, but I think those things are beyond me. Weaving in description alongside dialogue is also tricky for me, I always feel like I fall into using the same phrases over and over.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I don't speak any other languages well enough to do it, but it would be very neat.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Pokemon, *way* back in the day.

20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?

*gasp* How dare you make me pick just one. I guess it has to be hello, my old heart, though. I just am so proud of that fic. It's not just that it's the kind of thing that I've dreamed of writing for a long while (slowburn, lots of yearning, LONG) but that I managed to do it during a summer where I was struggling with just about everything else in my life. I'm very fond of the world it's set in, and I have so many plans for both prequels and sequels to it.

Sharing an au bc i like chatting with you and probably won't ever actually write this. It is...sad.

Okay, you know how most modern AUs have wx with adopted a-Yuan?

Imagine A-Yuan losing his family due to some great engineering failure that affected a lot of people. He ends up with his grandparents until they can't take care of him anymore and he ends up in foster care.

Scenario 1: He ends up with the Lan family. He is never taught about his past family. He has a good relationship with both LXC and LWJ. One day, LWJ shows up with a new boyfriend. A-Yuan likes him! Until he finds out WWX was responsible for the incident that killed his parents.

Scenario 2: His uncle, Wen Ning, tracks him down and takes him in. A-Yuan grows up hearing about his family and knows who he is. Eventually, he gets an internship at the Lan family's company. Training gets split between LWJ and an outside consultant called WWX (who was hyped the moment he heard about LWJ's little protege). A-Yuan comes to regard WWX as someone to look up to... until he finds out about WWX's greatest mess.

Damn, yeah! The whole concept of A-Yuan dealing with the fact that a person he likes and looks up to could be responsible for the death of his parents is definitely worth exploring!

As mentioned some days ago, the fandom is really missing on the chance to go further into one of the many gray and complicated situations in canon: that A-Yuan is a Wen, and as such, his parents could have very well been casualties of demonic cultivation. And tbh it would be such a fascinating thing thematically and narratively that the same man was the reason A-Yuan survived.

But ANYWAYS. Ooh boy, you really out there, not holding your punches with the feels :'D. I honestly don't know which one would hurt more lol: on one hand, you'd think that there would be more of an emotional connection in the first scenario for the discovery to hurt more, but there's the fact that his life until that point was one of blissful ignorance, so it could be argued that he was happy.

On the other hand, while it would suck to know that someone you ended up respecting and liking was the culprit of your parents' deaths, it is just an intership. However, if he was raised fully knowing what happened, it could be assumed that he was perpetually conscious of the family he got robbed of (regardless of how much uncle WN would love and do his best for him).

Either scenario can get messy as all fucks, and there's also the fact that we know that A-Yuan turns into a mature and kind young man, so it'd be interesting to see how he handles this. Especially since this is modern AU and you don't have the whole "they were at war, WWX did what he had to, it was natural that there'd be casualties" argument that could make the discovery a bit easier to process since his parents would be completely innocent civilians here.

... then again, it was an accident, so is WWX really to blame??? Damn, there is no way to make this any less complicated lol.

Thank you so much for making me a little something this year. A bit about where I’m at with the show/what I enjoy: I’ve only seen the first two seasons so far, so I’m basing my requests in that. With any of the requests I'm a big big fan of everyone being obsessed with one Constable Benton Fraser, as well as the man in question being a bit oblivious to this fact (and, tbh, to his own feelings often).

Whether it’s romantic, platonic, or a secret third thing, I’m up for all of it, the main gist of the thing is that Fraser makes all the boys and girls go a little bit crazy, because he steps into their lives and changes Everything for them. Honestly I do like QPR’s and secret third things the best, but if you have a Vision that leans more romantic or straightforward platonic, go for it!

I did go for “/” on two of the prompts, because it’s hard to nail down where Fraser’s relationships fall for me, although there are some specifics to go by of course (see the prompts).

Gen things I like that I’m throwing out there (do Not feel like you have to do all of these things, just giving a general sense):

- I like fairytales/mythological AUs – could be set in a different (magical) time/place, or incorporating these ideas into the show’s settings of 90s Canada/Chicago

- I like other characters being involved outside of the characters I've specified (Fraser, Ray, Victoria): Diefenbaker (especially if Dief has Opinions), Meg, Elaine, Frannie and Ray’s family, any of the villain roster, Buck, Fraser’s dad or other ghosts, the precinct, etcetc.

- Asexual and/or aromantic Fraser

- submissive Fraser + kinky Fraser (bondage, praise/humiliation, service, danger, pain of whatever kind...)

- Non-human Fraser (changeling, spirit, selkie, etc.)

- Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Fraser!Whump, it’s fine if you want to lean more on the comfort side of things, I like a bit of bite, but if you’re feeling more of the sweet it doesn’t have to be very prominent (of course, if you really like the bite too, feel free to have at it!)

- While I am fine with romance, I do like QPR’s and “secret third things” more, which is hard to encompass with either “/” or “&” so I went for “/” but… basically take it in whatever direction you feel is right, but don’t be shy about potentially making things Complicated

- Character introspections

- Character relationship deep-dives

- Could be holiday-themed but doesn’t have to be

So Many Fanfics So Little Time

This is just my list, I have seen so many (but if you want to use it it’s all yours too!).  I’m not a writer.  But I am a hell of a reader. Voracious one might argue. I just wanted to track my progress through the weeds of the absolutely never ending supply of Destiel and Cockles fanfic. 

Read on if you want to see what I’ve read, and what I’ve thought. I am but one person with opinions - some of them may be unpopular - some of them you might agree with, but if you find something you haven’t read here, I encourage you to do so. 

Honestly, this is just so I can track what I have read already, and when my friends ask, I can reference something easily. I have found some different fics on all kinds of ‘best of’ lists all over the interwebs. And I love recs - so rec away friends. 

As someone who reads a solid 40 novels a year typically, I don’t come by the “I read a lot” innocently. I do actually read a LOT.  When not reading fanfic (a new obsession, all things being fair), I usually read a lot of Fantasy/high fantasy, romance/erotica, and or YA (yeah, that was a bit of a ride no?).  So from this one might digress that I like fluffy, cute stories, complicated and supernatural/paranormal type stories, and I sure do not shy away from violence or smut (or maybe violence with smut? *smirk*). 

I have read all of these in the last 2-3 months (I will continue to add as I go). I had never read a fanfic until 2-3 months ago.  A lot of these wonderful people are on here, and I mean you no offence by not directly tagging you - I’m still learning how to actually properly use this site. Links to AO3 are included (and I love you all). 

These aren’t necessarily in any real order - I did read T&S first, followed by 91W, and 4LW...after that it’s just a shit show of Long or Short, Destiel or Cockles - smorgasbord. Some of these are the most popular Fics out there, and others I’ve never seen recc’d anywhere (just sort of accidentally happened upon them).  So let’s get to it, shall we? 

Twist and Shout - ok look. I understand the stigma associated with this one, but it was the FIRST one I read. It was the ball that shot me down the hill, and I haven’t stopped since. So. I loved it. I CRIED like a baby. SOBBED. It was not the quality of the writing but the way the story was developed and delivered. I have Never Cried Like This Reading a Story IN MY LIFE. It’s a rite of passage. Read It and have an opinion - it doesn’t need to be mine.

Ninety-One Whiskey - aka 91W, it is mentioned so much, and is SO worth the read.  I continued my dive into the war fics (not typically my bag really and here I was reading 2 in a row).  There are a couple of followup stories as well to this series (and yes, I’ve read them all).  Although I’ll say that the original is my favourite. I often got lost in a bit of the War/Tactical descriptions, but would recommend it to anyone anyway. Ugh...the “stolen moments”...they were at the same time tragic and the most amazing things ever.  You feel me? no? go read it.

Four Letter Word for Intercourse - aka 4LW.  OMG just, OMG. I loved this story. I loved it so much. I think I read it in a day.  Devoured it. It’s so HOT. Just read it. If you haven’t you’re missing out.  LEMME AT IT. I loved “knowing the secret”, and had some major anxiety about that realization dawning (I had to take a breath, and be like, no, no, this is gonna be a mess, but it’s gonna be SO GOOD - I was not disappointed).  There’s more than one work here too - read them all. So since i always miss your ask box i opend a note tab on my phone and write everything i wanna tell you/ask. Here we go (everything is about the divorce au):

1. Why are you not doing lbaf first?

2. Did magnus REALLY feel trapped in their marriage since Max was a toddler? (The snippet where he said he’s the one who feels like a fish in their relationship)

3. Does Magnus maybe feel like Alec is tolerating his love? Not like he’s falling out of love but is too busy “building other worlds”? Okay so I was listening to tolerate it by Taylor Swift and I just imagined it being Magnus’s pov in the divorce au and it was rlly sad. Especially because “you’re so much older and wiser” and everything else🥲

4. I was listening to death by thousand cuts and its so post-divorce malec :(( (as you can tell i only listen to taylor swift and think about malec 24/7)

6. Idk why but i always assumed lightwoods would be legacy students (bot cause theyre not smart but just cause they’re a old political rich white family) so it’s interesting how rafe goes to a different university than alec.

AH I LOVE YOU ORGANIZED QUEEN.

1. because I came up with lbaf IV very late (I already have an idea of what divorce au was gonna be like). LBAF needs a bit more time to simmer (I need to think on it and work out the details). I'll be writing divorce au while I do that :)

2. I think Magnus (in this fic) always feels a little out of place. But he manages and survives because he is strong and he has Alec. He always strikes me as someone who never tells other people how bad things are until things are really, really bad. It's not that he thinks he is being annoying or bothering. He is just not used to asking for help and he is used to surviving alone. His storyline is very complicated here and I am hoping to figure it out more as I write it (like I do with most fics)

3. I don't think it's that tbh. Magnus knows Alec loves him very very much and I think that's what makes it even harder for Magnus. He isn't walking away because Alec doesn't love him. As he mentions at one point "love isn't enough".
