This nearly became Sorceress-Warlock Jacqueline from THIS AU. Didn't feel like drawing that fit tho so it's just regular canon Jacqueline, lol. Drawing the whooshy cloak was fun. Colouring it was even MORE fun. I was going CRAZY last night trying to find a post I made where I described Jacqueline's staff?? All four Frosts would pass the warlock test--the question is, do they fully embrace it? Fino does. Fiera does but like, second to the summer sprite training. Jack learns what's useful/what he wants/needs to. Jacqueline was FINE not warlocking, she's good with the snow, BUT Jack keeps nagging her to at LEAST take the test and when she passes it he's like c'mon. c'mon. warlock training. you know you want tooo I could teach youuuuu

She holds off for a VERY long time then gets schemey brain a couple of centuries down the line and goes for it. It's spoilery and I do want to keep this one close to my chest, BUT:

Essentially she learns that she has something someone needs/wants back and she can only do that by getting into the Warlock training! She uses this to try and bring two estranged people closer and when it doesn't go well she hits Jack up after hours and is like "so my plan is going. hmm. bad. let's start warlock training?" and Jack's like YEAH LET'S FUCKING GOOOO bc A) he told her so. B) he;s been wanting to get her started with the warlock biz for YEARS! AND out of ALL THE TEACHERS SHE'S COMING TO HIM (well. unofficially) and C) he is also enjoying the tea from her little scheme and about the two people in question, lol.

Laios Touden and the Responsibility of Power

First off, let me gush just a bit about how fucking STRONK this man is. Olympic weightlifters are dying of sheer envy and lust over this man. He is a FUCKING POWERHOUSE.

My favorite panels ever, and judging by the cropping of the second photo, Tumblr agrees.

AHEM, where was I?

Ah yes. He's not just strong and incredibly hot, my man is literally an invasive species in this dungeon. He knows every single weak spot of every monster Thistle tried to throw at him and when he finds it he just fucking RAMS HIMSELF AT THEM AND TAKES THEM DOWN.

And when he's a dwarf HE LITERALLY BENDS STEEL.

"Beat Namari at arm wrestling"? My boy, she wouldn't let you anywhere near because you'd FUCKING BREAK HER HER HAND ALONG WITH THE TABLE. (It's such a fucking shame we didn't see Senshi at least raising an (perfectly plucked except it just grows that way naturally) eyebrow in the background when he sees this. Alas, he was too distracted by his hair.)

But I mentioned responsibility, didn't I? Strength is power in the dungeon, and we all knows what comes with great power. And Laios is, in fact, very responsible with that power!

This scene lives rent-free in my head forever, because of two things: Thistle suddenly realizing just what the hell he's up against,

And Laios breaking Thistle's arm.

Now, I think Laios didn't mean to actually break his arm here, he's just half-blind and dizzy and knows he has to restrain Thistle or it will all go to shit. So that's what he does. The move you see above is a restraining hold. The point is that the person pinned down can't struggle much because the position of the arm presses the suprascapular nerve, so it hurts a lot, but unless they're held that way for too long they'll be fine.

But Thistle is TINY and elves are generally fine-boned. I think Laios really did just underestimate his strength.

And the moment the dragons aren't an IMMEDIATE THREAT anymore?

Laios heals him. Thistle's a better mage than him by miles, he could have done it himself. But no. Laios does it. He was too rough, too careless with his strength, and he immediately backtracked, fixed what he broke, and continued with more mindfullness.

And these are just the examples that stuck in my mind the most. And it happens often enough that the team isn't even fucking surprised! Laios' strength would 100% scare people who only saw him in a barfight and didn't know anything else about him. Hell, the other adventurers they meet fucking quiver before this guy who just took down a monster they had nightmares about in one blow, up until he opens his mouth and they relax. You put more malevolent software in that sort of hardware and he'd be the next Shadow Governor.

But Laios is Laios. He's a gentle soul at heart (a Great Pyrenese, specifically, the gentlest souls ever unless you're out for their flock) and he is VERY CAREFUL with his strength, ESPECIALLY around his team. Chilchuck, who is literally half his size and underfed to boot, can smack Laios as much as he wants with ZERO fear because Laios is aware he can hurt Chilchuck by literally tripping over him, so he just stays still and lets Chilchuck smack at him. I'd be surprised if he ever managed to leave a bruise. Chilchuck has to aim at Laios' weak spot (back of the knee here) just to get Laios to notice him!

But because I have some experience with marital arts and close combat, I think the fight with Shuro exemplifies my point so fucking well! Laios is HURT here, he's living every autistic person's worst nightmare.

And he HOLDS BACK. His restraint is fucking IMMACULATE.

Shuro is fucking lucky Laios still liked him when he started talking shit, because he would have broken his spine otherwise. Laios doesn't even take the fight seriously! He starts with a fucking SLAP.

Shuro retaliates with an actual punch (that does nothing but piss him off)

Laios wobbles. Shuro HITS THE DIRT.

And this is the part where he realizes just how outside his weight category he is. Shuro definitely has technique on his side, but that means jackshit when you need ten blows to to even bruise your opponent, but one hit from them will leave you drinking through a straw for a week. For a second there, Shuro thought he was in ACTUAL DANGER.

But instead of finishing the job, Laios tries to talk him down, which just sets him off again. Man was at his fucking LIMIT, and it snapped. Self-preservation who?

And the best part is? Shuro is throwing all his strength behind his punches and Laios just takes them, but Laios? He mostly pushed Shuro around!

They're mostly grappling here, precisely because Laios is very conscious his friend is pretty fragile right now.

And when he does have enough?

Shuro is flat on the ground again, and Laios has a black eye and a bloody nose. He sits down and five minutes later he's ready to go! Like yes, Shuro was at a low point here, but he's been mowing through monsters at only a bit slower pace than Laios' party. He's no weakling regardless. And Laios had to HOLD BACK SO HE WOULDN'T HURT HIM. And it's so obvious that Maizuru takes one look at the two of them and leaves them to their toussling.

When I saw her reaction I had to scroll back and take another look, because I was sure she would intervene! But she doesn't! She is aware of Laios' strength, she has to be, and she doesn't lift a finger to help her precious charge. She knows the big dog he's wrestling with knows to watch his strength.

And that's my whole point: my boi is STRONK AF! And he is very aware of his strength, and how he could hurt the people around him is he wasn't careful, so he is ALWAYS CAREFUL. He has deeply internalized the fact that to have strength is to be careful with it, to use it in service of people rather than to hurt them (possibly from his dad). He is going to SUCH a good king! He's not going to like the job but by GOD he will do it really well.

And I will give my right arm to see a fic about the first corrupt lord/governor/courtier who attempts to misuse their authority for their own gain. Kabru's gonna have to talk Laios out of an execution.

Your Monster AU is delicious and I just discovered something honestly cool about the advantage of being considered cute

Apparently cuteness is an evolutionary survival strategy, as being cute is a very potent protective mechanism for infants and young (Specifically for the ones that are completely helpless and need their parents to care for them)

In this case, the Staff are immediately struck by Reader’s ‘Cuteness’ (Big eyes, smaller stature, soft, vulnerable skin, and just utterly helpless compared to everyone else) basically they might perceive Reader as a baby (It doesn’t matter that she’s +18, they see her has a Baby because she’s completely helpless compared to all these Monsters)

This works by making the parent/s more likely to care for their young

There’s also cute aggressive, which humans want to squeeze or pinch a baby’s cheek because of the baby/infants’ cuteness (As Floyd said he wanted to squeeze Reader as he called her ‘cute’)

Some animals are even attracted to cuteness when choosing a mate (The Monsters boys might stop dead in in their tracks when they realize Reader is actually really cute, though their definition of cute differs from each of them, ex: angry, sleepy, etc)

The cuteness is why all the Staff adore their little Human immensely. Trein, Divus, and Vargas are especially susceptible to the charms and cuteness of the Human, feeling immensely responsible for the soft little creature.

Divus' parental instincts kick in almost immediately when he sees this little Human curled up in Malleus' nest. He is keen to coddle and coo over the soft Human that reminds him so closely of seal pups, his Selkie nature screaming at him to shelter and guard such a fragile creature. This pup is now his pup and he will fiercely guard them. As Divus is a mix of a Harp Seal Selkie(mother) and Leopard Seal Selkie(father), he will go full Leopard Seal on anyone who threatens his pup, turning back to the affable natured Harp Seal instincts any time he addresses his little pup.

Vargas knows calves are wobbly, fragile, and in need of a strong steer to protect them from other males or even from predators. The first time Vargas witnesses one of the monster boys trying to hit on the soft Human is when he begins to stomp the ground, kicking his feet back in a threatening posture with his horns pointed at the offending party. He will absolutely smack any of these eager students with his horns should they get too close to the soft Human.

Trein is already a father to several daughters and is reminded so much of his own cubs by the large innocent eyes this soft Human has. He can't help but take on the fatherly role for this delicate little creature. This is why Trein is first to offer aid to the Human and is first to leap to the Human's defense in tense situations. He will not let a single thing happen to this new cub of his and anyone who is caught bullying his cub is going to get extra homework, a strongly worded lecture, and detention to top it off.

Floyd has STRONK cuteness aggression and just wants to squeeze his little Shrimpy nice and tight until they beg him to let go or they pop. Whichever comes first.

Malleus, Jack, Kalim, Riddle, Vil, Rook, Jade, Floyd, and Jamil all have a strong preference for a cute little mate and are very willing to convince this little Human that they are an ideal lover. The soft Human is just so cute and so sweet they can't help but adore the sweet creature. It makes them all the more appalled to think that there are Poachers looking to slay the soft Human for little more than some meat.

Much as I love Cole and as much as I love Cole so infinitely much more than toph I suspect that this will be a massacre.

Round One - Geomancy 2/4

Propaganda under the cut (beware of potential spoilers!!)

Toph:

She’s the greatest earthbender of all time! Plus she created a new form of earthbending! And she was 11!

Cole:

Cole is the elemental master of earth and has a lot of really cool power he can use. First of all, he has super strength. Later on he gets lava arms which he uses when using his super strength and they look super cool. He then later learns to use this technique called the Spinjitzu Burst that was only ever used by previous masters of earth which he used to defeat one of the villains in the best fight scene in the entire series. And then in the latest season, we find out he can basically turn into a rock monster that works as a sort of suit of armor. And that's just going over his powers, personality wise Cole is one of the sweetest characters in the show and always fights for what is right. He's strong but also a dork and I love him for that. I'm honestly worried my propaganda doesn't do him justice because Cole is just such a great character.

Is there Oneion facts we can know about?

(the baby boy in question is ten years older than me)

I'm gonna go canon stuff first, then some fun crossover stuff:

The version that I'm using is 35-ish years old (a few years before the movie events), he's been the leader of the resistance for around a decade

He still has all his brothers and loves them very much, would kill and die for them

Way more chill than One is right now, still a beast on combat

One can manipulate vines only using the seeds Draxum makes, Oneion can summon them at will from the ground with little issue

In the story he mostly goes by Leo now, very few people call him One (but lets keep calling him Oneion to avoid confusion)

The protesis he uses is an old one from Raph, but he outgrew it and gave it to Oneion when he lost his arm. It was a bit ridiculously big for him at the time, it's still a *little* too big for Oneion, but by the time he's 40-something (movie events) its gonna fit right in

The scarf he has is not the same One has, but as One's it was a gift from Draxum, he has carry the same scarf the whole apocalypse

Still has a lot of gold accents on his clothes

He's still the best fighter out of the four turtles

He loves being around kids but doesn't, he's afraid of hurting them. He knows he didn't had a normal childhood but is not 100% aware of what part was normal and ok and what part is not, and he rathers not take a chance and do something wrong.

He ends up enjoying teaching martial arts, tho he doesn't like being called sensei, and he wont spar with anyone bellow his level (again, being afraid of hurting them)

Casey Jr becomes the exception to these

Crossover stuff!

he can and will beat the shit out of One, he knows how much One can take so he's not really worried about that

when the apocalypse started he basically lost contact with the multiverse, so no fun crossovers for him. Until by the power of "@intotheelliwoods started doing fanart of Oneion before I even had finished his design" he had access to the multiverse again!

First of his "old frieds" he saw was Poptart and Sprout (2al huggy leos) and first thing he did was to hug Sprout<3 (well, he first kinda yelled at him but I'll draw that some day)

I don't think he has met again with the rest of the separated council? I don't remember if I've stick him in any crossover situations

he loves hugging Poptart, he's teddy bear size<3 and he'll never get tired of calling him his friend and loving him "the way he deserves" because he still hasn't forgive himself for the shitty way he treated Poptart (dont worry about it)

he fucking destroyed the attempt of a slau/2al crossover time line

he says he's fine by it but he keeps bringing up the "jawbreaker" incident, I dont think he got over it, actually

he hangs out with Sprout a lot

something something, being with Sprout makes him feel like a kid again, and it makes Sprout feel like a kid again because Oneion reminds him of Big Leo

Sprout and Oneion have a spa day, they deserve it<3 they also go shopping together. Also, they are not exactly good at cooking but they try and they love working together on the kitchen

Oneion got the "Oneion" nickname by Sprout and Poptart

I do kind of wonder if One Piece might end with two "Pirate Kings"...

Like Luffy is 100% going to become Pirate King, without a doubt. You don't just build up the protagonist's adventure to reach their goal for 20+ years and then Not Deliver on it. Luffy's gonna be King, no doubt about it.

But as we already know, to Luffy being "Pirate King" simply means "being the most free person in the world". When Rayleigh asked Luffy if he thinks he can become the ruler of the seas (New World specifically), Luffy explicitly told Rayleigh he's NOT going to "rule over anything".

So Luffy could and will become the most free person in the world and gain the title of Pirate King, but he's not going to become The Ruler of the Seas.

Which leaves me wondering... could someone else ALSO become "Pirate King", some kind of a (Luffy-approved) benevolent ruler of the seas while Luffy goes off on more adventures to enjoy his life?

And if so... who? Who would be suited for that position, who might accept that role (in Luffy's stead)? And mind you, I do mean specifically a King for Pirates; even if/when the WG gets overthrown and replaced by whatever system the Revs may be preparing, it doesn't mean all the pirates of the seas are going to bend to the New Government's will.

Right now, of all known characters I feel like Shanks might be the most suited for it technically speaking, but I'm not sure he's up for it. Shanks is a man of many a mystery as are his goals, but yeah IDK if he'd want to take the throne, it remains to be seen.

Hilariously. Buggy's also a fucking option. Not only has he very recently claimed he'd like to be Pirate King mayhaps, but also during Summit War he did make his funny little predictions about becoming Shichibukai, Yonkou and finally Pirate King himself. And we know two of those predictions have already come true. So between making his final predicition also come true and keeping Buggy's trend of Falling Upwards going, it would be funny as fuck if Buggy did become The Ruler of the Seas. Thing is, between Buggy arguably not being genuinely suited for the job (though being easy to dethrone could be a perk), we need to ask if Buggy does TRULY want to become Pirate King himself. Like yes, he may have dreamed of claiming One Piece one day, but also, his entire BEEF with Shanks has to do with how Buggy wanted to follow Shanks and watch HIM become the King after Roger. Buggy says he wants to be the King, but does he truly? Or would he rather just let Shanks have the throne instead?

But that might be a bit of an issue that just runs in a circle; if neither Shanks or Buggy wants the throne then who the hell would take it then?

And like... No matter how I think about it, the only other option I come to is like... god damn fucking Crocodile. Because (say it with me now) if Crocodad Real, it could make sense thematically. Depending on whatever character arc the bastard might go through first. If he was put into that role then you'd think (and hope) he'd find himself surrounded by people who trust him and he can trust back (Pirate King's crew and all) (oh hey what's this Cross Guild thing?). Not to mention if Luffy wanted to give up the job of actually ruling the seas to someone else, the only way he'd ever willingly give that fucking job to Crocodile of all people, would be if their father-son relationship improved first (you know how I feel about that) and Croc actually like proved himself to be (trust)worthy. Not to mention, Crocodile would get to reclaim the dream he had abandoned so long ago. But also, he'd get to reclaim it while his sweet baby boy's dream also came true; they'd both get to be King together. That would be so fucking adorable and sweet. And don't let me get started on the Sobek-Ra symbolism (Sobek = protector god (a crocodile), Ra = sun god (=Nika=liberation=Luffy); Sobek-Ra = fusion of the two) (Also let's be real, Crocodile would be weirdly suited for the job. Like he's stronk enough but also he can run operations and boss people around etc)

Like I feel so delulu even suggesting that but also it would make sense. It makes so much sense it makes me a little bit mad lmao

But in the end, what other options would we even have? Of the known characters I don't think there's many who would fit into the role AND want the role, and I feel like we're a bit late into the series to introduce any completely new characters for this purpose in particular.

Guess I could start by talking about the graphic novel designs that Giovanni Rigano and Stephen Gilpin had for Julius.

Generally I like Rigano's design for Julius better since the books describe him as barrel chested, in book 1 it's mentioned that he's overweight and Artemis considers him to "look dumb". (Which, if I was a 12 year old who finds physical excertion horrifying, looking dumb would probably mean looking like a jock but who am I to say.) So Rigano's design fits that very well. He's thick and well-built. However I do detest the stylistic choice of giving any character permanently closed eyes. Also his silhouette tapers a bit towards his legs which I don't like.

For Gilpin's design I like that he made Julius taller, since in the first book Julius had to lean down/ squat to look Mulch in the eyes and in the second book just him body slamming into someone was enough to knock them out so I think that tracks better for him compared to Rigano's shorter design. But he wouldn't be that thin. Otherwise I think it's a fine design. I like that his silhouette doesn't taper towards the legs which I think is better.

Also look at he go, what a delightful panel.

Side note for other characters: both have very good designs for Artemis, I like Rigano's a bit better (it's the eyebrows. But why does he have brown eyes?), for Butler I definitely prefer Gilpin because the way Rigano drew his neck is so vicerally upsetting to me. Both designs for Holly are... Not Great. Foaly's design is baffling in both. And Mulch... I don't mind either. And I like Rigano's Opal.

But back to Julius, I think that man is built like a brick shithouse. Not really a world shattering hot take I know, but it means a lot to me. I really don't think he has ever been slim ever in his life. He's thick and I think running into him is like running into a wall. So in my own design I try to keep his design very rectangular and his face square.

(I personally like using tiktokker official_oniisan as reference/inspo for his body type, just a bit fatter.)

It was a little after Botan got her soul stolen that Kaito decided to run his mouth. You having been kidnapped with Yusuke because where one went, the other followed. Much to Kurama's dismay.

"You've got me curious, playing house with a human I'd figure would be so far below you. Do you find them amusing? Maybe think of them as some sort of plaything? A way to keep yourself entertained?"

The taunt was an attempt to make the fox demon slip up. And it seemed to be working judging by his glare and increase in spirit energy.

"Did I strike a nerve? Don't tell me the great Yoko Kurama is actually infatuated with a human. And not a very bright one at that." There was a smirk on his face that only grew seeing Kurama manipulate the plants around him. Knowing he couldn't physically hurt him at the moment.

"You should have seen them. Getting all worked up over Urameshi being immobilized, only to fall for the exact same trap. It was almost too easy. Even when being told moving was useless, they still struggled. Yelling out curses and promises to...what was it? Oh yes, 'kick out asses' I believe. I never would have pegged you as the type to go after a stupid brute."

His cackling was soon disrupted by the sound of Kurama's voice. Speaking up at last with a tone so cruel, it temporarily frightened Kaito.

"You should hope I don't find a loophole around your no violence rule. Because if I do, you'll regret every last word." Eyes glowing an eerie golden.

When he finally bested the snarky human, he half thought to just crush his soul. No only because he put his friends in harm's way, but he also insulted you.

Insulted his relationship with you.

Buuuut, Kurama wasn't exactly allowed to end a human's life. And he refused to stoop that low anyways.

No, he'd just leave Kaito the way he was and focus instead on getting you and Yusuke back safely.

Overall he's petty about it, but not angry enough to lash out. He'll let it go for now....But if it happens again all bets are off.

For Hiei it is most definitely Shishi that gets to him. I feel like maze castle is a little too early for him to get mad at someone making fun of you. Maybe a comment of 'A foolish sacrifice and yet you're the one who's dead'. But if it's during the dark tournament on the other hand 👀👀👀

Kuwabara had just gotten teleported to who knows where. Leaving you, Hiei, and Kurama left to fight. It was just your luck that the die landed on your name. The other once again on Shishi's.

"Oh great, another bumbling idiot. At least this one is easier on the eyes." The demon commented as you made your way onto the arena.

Already Hiei could feel his blood start to boil. Disliking the way Shishi seemed to look you up and down.

"Perhaps defeating you will boost my popularity. Just don't die so quickly. I want to be able to entertain my fans."

You were already getting tired of this guy yapping. And it didn't help that he made your best friend vanish into thin air.

"I wouldn't be so sure about you beating me."

But at your comment, he only grew angry and snapped.

"Are you delusional or just that stupid? You think I would let a mere human beat me? Especially one as klutzy as you."

You were not a fighter to be underestimated. Hiei knew that firsthand. Yet you continued to let that cretin berate you as you fought.

For some reason that made him furious. Wanting to both put him in his place and let you teach that bastard a lesson. He took a step forward. Already deciding that if you did indeed lose this fight, he'd be the one to beat that egotistical demon.

A firm grip on his wrist stopped him from taking another step forward.

"Refrain from doing anything foolish. I know you care for them, but you'd only be damaging their pride more by stepping in." Kurama scolded.

The words temporarily snapping Hiei out of his protective thoughts.

"Tch, I don't care for them."

Hiei is absolutely ready to throw hands on your behalf. Yes you're foolish, but you're his foolish human. The only one allowed to insult you is him.

The guys ofc all have their strengths and their own applications of their powers and minds and whatnot.

BUT

In my brain there's a very clear objective order

Raw strength goes Raph, Donnie, Mikey, Leo

Mystic strength goes Mikey, Donnie, Leo, Raph

Raph and Donnie are both heavy hitters who regularly shatter concrete when they miss their attacks, and comparatively not only is Donnie's mystic much stronger and complex, it's much more versatile than Raph's shadow clone jitsu (no disrespect we love giant adrenaline junkie <3).

Mikey is able to withstand and dish out lot but it's usually due to the momentum generated with his mystic weapon. He's the strongest mystically cause...well cannon in every universe practically.

Meanwhile Leo actively chooses not to attack directly with his swords most of the time, using it as a baseball bat unless making a portal to attack in his stead or deflecting a blow, but I think it's out of understanding that he's running around with huge knives and he doesn't wanna seriously hurt the villains (save for episode one, and I have THEORY behind that and le worm incident~).

But yeah! Tortle power scale because it's almost 5am and I should probably be not conscious :D

Yesss hehe his heart simply starts racing so fast with joy and excitement when he thinks about how they can benefit him in his plans with their big, fat and/or buff and very strong bodies! But then he realizes they have that effect on him in general, in any other situation too... Unexpectedly dreaming of all the big and strong boys he's met along the years, feeling a desire to keep in touch with as many as possible... Must be how many of them tend to resemble his gay ass statues in Hot Shelter, where his tastes really started to become clear. He sure does have a type!

Chaos after summoning and growing him bigger and stronger for his plans, Big after encountering him and it definitely influencing his decision in his base's location at the time, Vector after he fails to make a deal with him and offers a very different way of repaying him, Bowser after partnering to win the Olympics but realizing he likes to use his power in other ways too, and Zavok when he enslaves him to help him defeat Sonic and take over the world but also finds he has curiosities about the race of Zeti and has to experience them with Zavok

Hell, maybe even Gamma after the appeal in his power and use to him for his plans and then built copies after his destruction, and Omega for being the extremely powerful one who got away- if he had the chance to.explore all of their capabilities and compatibility. The former towered over him and the latter is immensely powerful and has an obsession with destroying everything he's ever created and that ass of his if he had the chance as a part of that "revenge" he seeks. So there's definitely appeal and potential in them running into him at the right place and time too

I can only imagine how he'd be if all were present and surrounding him at once, backing him into a corner and all having their different feelings and relationships with him but all having one thing in common, wanting that Eggy booty. And him being like "uhhh haha, one at a time please, boys!" as they all back him into a corner as he recalls memories of messing with them all that way and realizes they now all want a piece of that plump voluptuous butt, to the point they all simply can't wait their turn for one at a time! But it's okay because he can take it >:) 💜

Raphael is deeply insecure maybe because of his aging state caused by his human dna that’s my theory on why haarlep is a younger stronger version of himself even the voice is youthful. Or perhaps he is generally speaking insecure about himself not only his age.

Also Idk if it’s my delusional mind but he kinda get upset (jealous?) if we bang bang the tentacle man. Devils can’t love apparently but his human dna CAN.

Have you heard about his attraction for Hope? He even built a house for her in her name. She’s not that special I crave to be inspiring like her and yet have a devil longing for me! 🥺

Hold up, hold up, hold up, Anon. I love and adore Haarlep. I think they're a cheeky little goblin. "Stronger version" of him is uh. Like maybe they're more physically cut, but Haarlep has a strength of 8 (noodle!boi) vs. Raphael's 18 (very stronk!boi). Haarlep shouldn't even be able to lift Raphael. Haarlep has 169 health (nice!) versus 666.

Raphael is undoubtedly vain, but that goes hand in hand with being a devil. They are all vain. And he does have a notable shift in tone with the Emperor. I personally choose to believe that a part of this is because:

The illithids are without soul, and so the transformation would remove your value entirely. You'd be leaving the cycle Raphael serves.

Raphael is trying to manipulate you, and the Emperor is doing the same but on an opposite trajectory (other people have covered this better).

Raphael is so MAD about someone else daring to play with his current favorite toy.

And I don't...anon, I cannot speak for thee, but I don't know that you want to be Hope. His lust for Hope is married into his obsessive nature and the wild notion that if he just keeps pushing, eventually the subject will break and give him what he wants. Hope goes through it. Raphael doesn't really seem to think of Hope beyond "that thing I want but can't have."

Anyway, all of this ymmv and headcanons will play into it. Thank you for the ask!

I am VERY excited for your Halloween Special! Have you drawn any inspiration from your life whether platonic/romantic/ or familial for any of your iterations of Daphne? Btw I Love her! She’s so dang cute, and STRONG

Ahhhhh thank you so much!!! I am excited to share it, I hope people like it!

This is a great question that I had to mull over a little. There are certainly parts of myself in Daphne, but a lot of her grew out of herself while I was writing and getting to know her. There are three areas in my life that definitely affected Daphne (for all iterations except the Goetia arranged marriage AU, where her background is different). The first is my extremely religious upbringing (fundamentalist Baptist school from kindergarten thru high school graduation 🙃) that I broke free of in my teens, but the scars from it still affect me today. As a girl, I was taught that my body was inherently sinful and dirty, and that it was my job to dress modestly so as not to tempt other students or their brothers and fathers (this started when I was 12 btw). If I tempted them to look at me with lust just by existing, or cause them to do anything worse than that, it was my fault and my sin, not theirs. It didn't help that I got chubby the second I hit puberty, so I had big boobs before my classmates. This really fucked up my relationship with my body and my sexuality. I felt the need to hide myself under loose, oversized clothes, like I had to spare other people from looking at my fat body. I'm still unpacking it decades later but I'm in a much better place, and I don't mind talking about it because I know I'm not the only one who had experiences like that. So Daphne became a Puritan, complete with religious baggage, because Puritans were revered in my curriculum and their ideals were part of my daily life hundreds of years after they lived.

The second thing is, I gave Daph a shitty ex-husband because I have one that I am so glad to be rid of. Alas, I did not eat him. I bet he would have tasted terrible anyway.

The third thing is, she's plus-size (like me) because I make 90% of my OCs plus-size out of pure spite! It's still very rare to see fat female characters in any media--including fan works--that aren't just the comic relief or someone's mom. A fat woman as a romantic lead is rarer still. And by fat I mean rolls, cellulite, stretch marks, a belly, upper arm fat, etc. None of that 'slap some big tits and hips/thighs on a skinny character and call her plus-size' bullshit. I've never been able to look at a lead character in a romance and see myself in them before, and I think that's really shitty. So I'm trying to do my little part to change that.

I'm so happy to hear you love Daphne!! She IS stronk, especially with her raptorial claws. I love her so much, despite all the Situations I keep putting her in. And I love that she can go toe to toe with Alastor, and choose which of his excesses to indulge and which ones not to tolerate. Stinky deer boy's got it BAD 🥰
