on the topic of talon's design... what's the story regarding the scars? i was always curious about where they came from but could never find any explanation about it.

the torso ones? honestly im debating on whether or not to keep em bc i always get sick of or forget extra details on an oc (did u know al used to have an arm tattoo... i got so tired of it so quickly lmaooo) BUT they're from unintentional self harm, he's got his claws (his talons wee hee) and he grabs at his sides with them unthinkingly when he's nervous....think of it like somebody not noticing they've bit their nails to the point of bleeding because of...whatever's making em bite their nails LOL....

it's why I also often draw shapes on the sides of his tops, they're patches of fabric for reinforcement or replacement... its both a Fix and also a bolder reminder (if he sees em out of the corners of his eyes) to stop ruining his shirts (this was more important when he didn't really have easy ways to get New clothing or make his own if necessary)

honestly i enjoy the character action behind em (unthinking focus, the fact that he has small harm he causes himself subconsciously along with the major, On Purpose stuff) as well as the result (the mending) but I also fear my just-for-fun ocs being Laughably Bad and I know scars are a little 🙄 especially since these also don't even look particularly good on his design ykwim...just looks like when ppl close their eyes and fling em onto their characters 😭 ah well im in no rush to figure it out, he's gonna be changing for as long as he's in my brain

#fave spotting #christopher lee #the vise #tension #1955 #the final column #for more information on the complicated origins of The Vise (a US production entirely made in the UK) see my prev fave spotting post for #Jacqueline Hill's appearance on the series #Lee was hardly a newcomer when he made this ep; he'd been acting professionally since being demobbed a couple of years after ww2 and #was something of a stock player in british cinemas‚ usually in minor bit parts as caddish gentlemen or authority figures and military men #one of his first really significant roles would be later in '55 as a submarine commander in The Cockleshell Heroes #he was also making semi regular appearances on tv in small guest spots‚ albeit sometimes uncredited (as in ITV's The Adventures of the #Scarlet Pimpernel also around this time). a jobbing actor‚ basically‚ and not yet the cinematic icon he would begin (that journey starting #at the end of the decade and the beginning of his association with Hammer studios and horror immortality). he's very good here tho #host and narrator Ron Randell even describes him near the start of the ep as (something like) 'young‚ handsome‚ but sinister' which #may as well have been printed on business cards for the kind of work Lee would find himself doing for the next decade or so #yes he's a real rotter‚ a strangler of ladies and a blackmailer of tycoons‚ and in true Vise fashion he gets his just desserts and the mora #status quo is maintained (this is a very moral series and takes pains to inform us via Randell exactly what kind of punishment the villains #received after the events depicted)#Lee made two more Vise episodes but as Network (rip beloved) seemingly took a random approach to which episodes to include in their #first volume of the series (and obviously as it turned out only volume) i have no idea if either of those are on the set #one can hope! and i do bc it's lovely seeing him so young but with such a meaty role

#flight rising #dragonaday2023 #frfanart #flightrising #fr pearlcatcher #my art #Serva is a minor villain responsible for the relocation of multiple dragon's into my clan and the charred ruins of two cities #I didn’t like her very narrow head the first time I drew her but its definitely grown on me #her and her brother are meant to be very well loved and easily welcomed into new clans #hell he wanders into the very fires he assisted with to talk to the survivors #they have soft and gentle appearances and honestly are very calm and kind #unfortunately one of them is incredibly malicious #Serva is very intelligent and knows rumors spread quickly when strangers enter new territory #they know one of the siblings is blind #she clawed at her eyes until they were visibly marked #to mistake her for her brother #a blind dragon does not stumble does not falter #but a seeing dragon playing pretend trips and stumbles and plays them all for the fools they are #anyway I've drawn Galileo before #hehehe #I love the natural patterning #it turned out so good #i have too many fluffy dragons #but I thought this was a funny misinterpretation of warm and fluffy #her and her brother have way more hair than normal anyway #it's a mutation

the point of a redemption arc for jade, to me, would be something that restores her to the initial essence of her character which was, to put it simply, a morally grey assassin who had zero interest in mass destruction. she made her money and went about her business, sometimes she would enact justice herself, and she can’t wait to retire.

i think there’s been little glimpses of that in the last few years, though most of it is ram v’s doing whenever he could incorporate her into his catwoman and TEC runs. the fact that she’s someone selina can and has sought out for help in the past is a step towards that, in my opinion. but it’s hard to make "morally grey jade" the status quo when so many other writers can’t seem to write her without dousing their writing in so much racism and misogyny. it’s even more difficult when her creator is responsible for some of the most important parts of her character and wrote the very event that took all that away. more writers (and fans) are inclined to engage with a racist and misogynistic depiction of her character than anything else.
