More OC art and lore nobody asked for! Matilda, Dipper and Mabel all growed up :’)
More unsolicited Matilda lore:
- Will magically grow her hair long sometimes so that Mabel can braid it
- Absolutely not above tormenting her siblings by telepathically projecting annoying songs into their heads (Blanchin’) when she’s mad at them
- Has been doing ballet since she was itty bitty; I’m thinking as an adult she joins a (much less antagonistic) Susperia-esque dancing company/coven
- Episode of “Dipper’s Guide to the Unexplained” where her siblings attempt to confirm/disprove stereotypes about witches using Matilda as a test subject, she is an enthusiastic participant (ex: sister does not melt when you throw water balloons at her)
- Bill cannot possess her or even appear in her dreams (unbeknownst to both of them this is because she technically already possesses a Euclydian soul and is equivalent to him in power)
- She can enter other people’s dreams and often intervenes with Ford’s nightmares about Bill
- Ford initially interprets her distrust of him as her thinking he’s “uncool” and tries to win her over by using painfully dated slang words to seem more “with it”, which becomes a running joke between them when they become closer, with both of them throwing eighties slang terms into their everyday conversations, to everyone’s annoyance
- Was totally nonverbal as a little kid, though Dipper and Mabel could always understand her (they didn’t think too much of it at the time, but she was basically just communicating with them telepathically). This was in part because it was difficult for her soul to adjust to being human, but a few months after she started talking she went back to being nonverbal because nobody seemed to want to hear what she had to say (she knew things she shouldn’t and could predict the future). She finally started speaking for good at around age 7
- She starts smoking cigarettes after the discovery of her previous incarnation when she’s in high school, developing a persistent nicotine addiction
- Uses her powers to help both McGucket and Stan recover their memories. McGucket teaches her the banjo and hillbilly knee-slapping curse words
- In “Carpet Diem” Matilda discovers that she still has her powers while in another person’s body. Her siblings do not think this is fair, but do ask her to do cool magic stuff as them so they can film themselves doing cool magic stuff
- Apologies to fellow Dipcifica enjoyers but when I first forehead-spawned Matilda as a kid I very unoriginally paired her off with Pacifica and now I’m pretty attached to their relationship. So! Dipper is just as much of a presence in “Northwest Mansion Mystery” because it helps resolve both her and Matilda’s feelings of hostility toward Pacifica after the way she treated their sister, with Pacifica and Mabel already having put aside their rivalry in “The Golf War” but since I don’t particularly care for Mabel’s side story in this ep I’m thinking that Matilda has let Mabel kind of run roughshod over her for something or another, not maliciously of course, but putting their family’s wants before their own is something I think Matilda and Pacifica could bond over, and I can see Matilda being especially sympathetic because of how much harder Pacifica has it with her family. Pacifica is also surprised at Matilda’s admittance to being kind of a pushover, as she’s always seemed confident around Pacifica, genuinely confident in a way she admits to envying. She also admits, through gritted teeth, that she likes Matilda’s dress. And her hair. And her makeup. And not to tell anyone she said that.
- Tries to invent a potion or spell to extend a pig’s lifespan as a birthday gift for Mabel
- Letter to Bill in TBOB simply reads; “Dear Bill, if you are still alive, kys. Thanks, Matilda Pines”
- I think I want her to have a familiar that is one of Stan’s unholy taxidermy creations brought to life, but I’m not sure ab the design yet, or the design of her grimoire
- She’s pretty sure throughout the first season that Stan is lying to them about not believing in the supernatural, but thinks he’s just doing it to mess with Dipper
- If you’ve ever had a parent that you know has had a hard life and you want to fix it for them and protect them but feel helpless to do so as the child, you’ll have an idea of her relationship with Stan

Happy STS! If your WIP was adapted into a film and some subplots had to be cut, which parts would you not mind being cut? Which parts should never, ever be left out?
Happy STS, Nerissa! (Albeit a few weeks late haha)
I honestly have no idea. I feel like my story is already pretty bare bones. If I cut anything more I could be cutting the good stuff, like the banter and the almost-romance. But those really are the whole point. It's not about the plot. The plot is just an excuse get Henry and Isolde in the same room haha
I do feel like a movie could add more to the fight scenes though. I would not want the battle scene dragged out and made all Lord of the Rings movies-esque dramatic though. I deliberately keep what happens quite sparse because I don't like the idea of sensationalizing war.
Also, if the movie made Isolde and Henry kiss before the very last scene I would be so mad. It is very important to Henry's character that he is faithful to his wife (*laughs at my own joke*)
Maybe the whole catacombs arc could be trimmed down? Or maybe give Matilda her own arc instead? That's all I got.
Thanks for the ask, friend!

Do have any sad/angsty headcanons of Emily’s childhood? Like before 15? I love your hc lists, they’re always so good 🥺
i can certainly try!!
(ow i hurt myself really bad with this one)
tw//mention of conversion camps but it’s brief
emily, as we know, had very absent parents (or at least a very absent mother) from a very early age
she’s learned to rely on herself from an early age because of this
like, yeah, she has nannies, but she’s firm on being very independent
(this type of thinking leads to early compartmentalizing, which never ends up being a good thing)
once, emily breaks her arm when she’s four years old and no one noticed for three days because she hid it so well
[her arm still hurts from time to time even now because of this injury]
her mother makes her take ediqute classes to be a prim and proper lady but emily finds ways to skip the classes
she much rather sit alone in the library and read
her favorite stories are the ones where knights rescue princesses
she always imagines herself as the knight, but still as herself because girls can be heroes too!!!
if she wants to fight dragons and carry a sword and rescue pretty princesses, no one can stop her!!!
when she’s six, she begins to sneak out into the woods to play “rescue the princess”
with no friends, she has to use a lot of imagination, but she makes it work
one day, she befriends a raven by feeding him pieces of her lunch that she doesn’t eat
she knows the knights in her storybooks have horses, but she thinks a raven will work fine as her sidekick
she names him mortimer
mortimer gets spooked away when emily first picks up a stick to use as a sword, but once he realizes this weird, tall, featherless bird won’t use the stick on him, he stays
mortimer follows emily around as she stops through the trees, loudly proclaiming that she is “dame prentiss” and that she will slay the dragon to rescue the beautiful princess
mortimer is emily’s only friend, really
when her mother tells emily that they’re going to movie, she honestly has a full blown panic attack because what about mortimer???
he won’t know she left!!!
he won’t understand!!!
what if he’s sad??
what if he thinks she rescued the princess without him???
would he be mad??
he helped too!! mortimer deserved to know!!
she can’t just leave her best friend behind!! surely her mother will understand that, right?
her pleas fall deaf on the ambassador’s ears
emily’s devestated
they move across the world
emily kinda shuts down after the move
she barely talks
she can’t find it in herself to read any more knight stories— they make her too sad
she thinks about mortimer a lot
one day, she thinks she sees him and cries when she realizes the bird is a crow and is definitely not her friend
the ambassador signs her up for piano lessons after that to keep her in the house at all times
after her schooling lessons, emily is forced into the main room with the grand piano
the piano teacher her mother hired is a kind young woman that speaks to emily in a very soft, very friendly voice
she has carmel hair and really pretty hazel eyes and tells emily that her name is miss howard
she looks just like the princesses in emily’s storybooks
miss howard is really patient with emily
sometimes, they don’t even play the piano during emily’s lessons
sometimes they just talk about emily’s day
emily thinks it’s nice—she’s never had anyone to talk to
miss howard listens to emily when she has a bad day
she doesn’t tell her that “a prentiss never shows weakness”
miss howard lets emily cry when she needs to
she lets emily talk about mortimer
she doesn’t call him a stupid bird
miss howard thinks mortimer sounded like the greatest friend [he was]
one day, emily breaks down because her french lesson didn’t go so well and her mother forgot it was her birthday.... again!
when she goes into the main room for piano lessons, miss howard is sitting at the piano with a small cupcake and a candle in the shape of the number 8 sticking from the top
in her hands is a small present that she gives to emily once she’s done singing happy birthday to her
emily bursts into tears because she’s so overwhelmed that miss howard remembered her birthday
she throws her arms around her teacher when she opens her gift— a small crocheted raven that looks exactly like mortimer
emily whispers that she wishes miss howard was her mom instead of the ambassador
the next week, emily has a different piano teacher and never hears from miss howard again
emily moves around a lot during her childhood, and since she’s already lost two friends very near and dear to her, it’s hard for her to let people in
by the time they locate to the western part of the united states, emily is 12 years old
the ambassador puts emily in a private, all girls boarding school
emily gets picked on... a lot
the other girls make fun of her because emily carries around the gift from miss howard everywhere she goes (it brings her comfort)
they make fun of her accent
and the fact that she’s not entirely fluent in english
(she’d honestly like to see any of those mean girls try to attempt to be fluent in russian and french)
she spends most of her time hiding in the school’s library and crying in the bathrooms
she’s hiding in the stalls again after being pushed into the lockers one day when another girl comes in and sits outside the door of emily’s stall
emily recognizes her green socks and cuffed pants— the girl is in her chemistry class (audrey, emily recalls)
audrey is quiet for a long time before saying “those other girls are jerks”
emily’s response is a sniffle and scuffing her shoes against the tile floor
audrey tries again, but her voice is softer
“i really like your bird”
emily timidly sniffles “thank you”
“what’s his name?”
emily pauses
“mortimer”
“i like that name”
audrey begins to sit with emily at lunch
she’ll go out of her way to find emily in the library and sit with her so she’s not alone
they don’t talk at first
emily is very wary of audrey’s intentions and doesn’t trust her
but she doesn’t push her away either because audrey doesn’t make fun of her and she likes mortimer
the day emily decides to fully trust audrey is when audrey stands up for her when she’s getting picked on in the halls
audrey stands between her and the bullies and yells at them about how awful they are because “emily is a great person” and “emily’s so sweet and she doesn’t deserve this shit”
emily wonders if the way her heart flutters is the same way the princesses felt when the knights rescued them in her storybooks
she feels special— no one has ever stood up to her the way audrey did
they become inseparable after that
emily and audrey become roommates later that year
audrey helps emily come out of her shell and teaches her how to stick up for herself
emily tells audrey about moritimer, the real one, and miss howard
audrey listens
she always listens
she’ll hug emily tightly and just hold her in her arms
(emily wonders if it’s normal for her to feel so safe in her best friend’s arms)
(she wonders if it’s normal that her heart skips a beat, her breath catches in her throat when audrey smiles at her)
(she wonders if it’s normal for her to get so excited when audrey holds her hand, even though her hands get clammy)
(she wonders if it’s normal to want to kiss your best friend, even if they’re both girls)
they’re skipping class one day, walking hand in hand down the stream behind the school
audrey is abnormally quiet and emily asks her what’s wrong
audrey won’t tell her for the longest time
she lets go of emily’s hand and leans against a tree, biting nervously at her nails
emily gently grabs her wrists and pulls her hands from her mouth
“hey... you can tell me anything, you know that right?” emily whispers
audrey finally meets emily’s gaze brieflt before she sighs
“...is it bad that i really want to kiss you?”
emily’s heart skips a beat
“no, it’s not”
she pauses briefly before adding softly “you should”
audrey is emily’s first kiss
it’s so soft and so perfect and everything like fairytales describe it as
audrey calls emily her girlfriend and she completely swoons
she hasn’t been so happy in years
she doesn’t know how the ambassador found out
but she’s called to the office one day snd faces her very angry mother
the ambasssador chews into her like emily’s never been before, swearing and red in the face from screaming
the ambassador pulls her out of the school right then and there and tells emily that they’re moving to rome
she refues to let emily see audrey again and has her assistant go pack emily’s belongings while she continues to scream at her in the car
she tells emily that this type of behavior is something she won’t tolerate
she says that if she ever catches emily with another woman like that again, she’ll send her off to a camp
emily never sees audrey again
it’s only when they land in rome that she realizes that the ambassador’s assitant never packed the crocheted mortimer
#criminal minds#criminal minds angst#emily prentiss#oh ow this hurt#emily prentiss and her childhood trauma#help that last sentence actually killed me#i’m in pain oh.....oh.....#:((((((#oh :((((((((((#oh#justice for mortimer the raven#oh i’m so sad#i’m sorry#someone give baby em a hug#emily’s mom is very oc in this bc i don’t think she was this bad in canon#well actually she wasn’t#like she was bad don’t get me wrong but this one..... yikes#very matilda-esque at parts

had a really weird dream last night...
so basically I was back in high school, except I was at a boarding school, and it was the end of the semester so we all had to pack up our rooms and be moved out by noon. except I was having a hard time packing due to ocd (which happens pretty often irl) so I was past the deadline and the administration was mad at me. I heard the principal, who looked like the evil principal from matilda, talking outside my window like “what’s going on, why is max taking so long?!” and she was pissed.
anyway then this other student comes up to my room (the school was empty at this point so who knows where she came from) and she just kept trying to talk to me and I was like, look, I’d really love to chat but I kinda have to finish packing here, but she just would not leave. then I hear the principal saying “oh there’s a another student up there? I know what they’re doing!” clearly thinking the two of us were gettin it on up here and that’s why I was late. but the girl still won’t leave, so I try to prop my dorm door open so that when the administrators come up they’ll see that’s not what we’re doing, expect my door is broken and won’t stay open! thus ensues a long tetris-esque sequence in which I am trying to precision maneuver the hinges(?) of the door so that it doesn’t automatically close. this part is very abstract and the hinges are like these complex interlocking mechanisms whereby if I situate them right the door will do what I want. I fail though, and ultimately the door just comes off the hinges entirely. “good enough” I think, and just toss the thing aside.
then the part where it really gets weird. there’s a time skip after I break the door, and now it’s a few hours later. I am still in the room, except there’s like a whole bar setup in there. in this world, classrooms are setup like bars with the teacher behind the counter and the student all on stools in front. and I guess each student has there own personal teacher or something, who teaches from the bar in their room? anyway apparently I am kinda famous at this school, because my teacher is none other than donald trump. except he doesn’t look like donald trump, he looks and talks like disgraced youtuber projared. but make no mistake, this is donald trump. and donald trump is not a politician or a real estate developer, rather he is a famously stupid and corrupt high school teacher.
so anyway I’m super popular because everyone wants to show up at my dorm all the time and listen to trump’s crazy lectures (he is just as much of a meme as in real life I guess). so anyway I’m sitting there at the bar, the girl is also there and so is another student who happens to be tumblr user @triviallytrue. and trump is regaling us with stories of his famous corruption, of all the bribes he’s taken and kickbacks he’s given and so forth. despite being a highschool teacher this is somehow all still political stuff. but wait! I still haven’t finished packing! the bad principal from matilda comes to the door and starts yelling at me and then I woke up.

The Case File – Mice and Murder Ep 1
The Case of the The Pernicious Party
Hello, hello, hello! It’s been a hot second but your resident D20 recapper is back to tackle the newest season: Mice and Murder! Y’all had to know I wasn’t gonna sit out the murder mystery, are you kidding me???
I might be playing around with the format a bit in the coming weeks to make sure I have the best possible system for keeping track of possible clues, suspects, and theories as we untangle whatever web Brennan weaves for us this season so don’t be surprised if things change a little.
Anyway, without further ado, onto our mystery!
Summary
In case you missed it, this season takes place in an alternate, Zootopia/Wind in the Willows-esque universe where all the characters are animals but history seems to have happened in more or less the same way--for example there was still a King Charles but he was a King Charles Spaniel (cute Brennan). Our story specifically takes place in the English village of Tufting Meadows.
We start with Katie’s character--Gangie Green (Weasel/Thief Rogue) in the graveyard of the Anglican Chapel (Our Lady of Prayerful Paws). Gangie, we learn, is an orphan who was kicked out of the orphanage at some point for thievery. Obviously, he’s not reformed of the habit because he is here to do some graverobbing. On a nat 20 (that Katie hilariously doesn’t notice even though her total is like a 29) Gangie can see through the window of the rectory that there is a weeping window inside--Catherine McCabbage who is being (dubiously) tended to by Raph’s character, Vicar Ian Prescott (Owl/Bard, College of Eloquence).
Ian comes from a line of men of the cloth but he’s not exactly the best speaker despite his subclass. He’s doing his best though! The widow’s husband (Conor McCabbage) died at the local mill in what has been declared an accident but she suspects foul play. She’s been hearing his voice on the wind and wants Ian’s professional opinion on whether this could be a sign from God or if her husband might be speaking to her from beyond the grave or something like that. Ian gives a very muddled and not very comforting answer but seems pretty sure that something sketchy did in fact happen. Then, he sees a crack of lightning outside which illuminates the graveyard where he gets a glimpse of Gangie.
He goes to check it out (and Gangie fully has an elderly goat he’s dug up slung over his shoulder) but “gravedigger” is his legit job so Ian decides to assume whatever’s going on is legit and not ask too many questions. He goes back to the widow (who, before she leaves, says that maybe sometimes people need to work on God’s behalf) while Gangie takes the body Loam Hall (a massive manor, built into a hill).
We cut to the next day and our next two characters!
At 22B Hamsted Street in a pretty well appointed home are Ally and Grant’s characters. First up, we have Lars Vandenchomp (Huge ass Doberman/Battlemaster Fighter) who is so tough looking but also so Swedish sounding--it’s A Lot (so, incredibly on brand for Ally). Lars is security for Grant’s character Sylvester Cross (Fox/Inquisitive Rogue) who is a kinda (to use Grant’s word) “foppish” Sherlock Holmes type. He was hired by Squire William Thornwall Brockhollow to figure out what happened with Conor McCabbage (and clear him of negligence in running the mill) but he couldn’t find any evidence of any funny business, making this the only case he’s never cracked. He’s not as young or popular as he once was so this is, understandably, bumming him out. He’s even more bummed out when he realizes that William has invited him to his 60th birthday party that’s happening that night (as kind of a prop to show that he did his part in trying to solve the mystery) and Lars has already RSVP’d yes. He grudgingly agrees to go as it’s one of those asks that’s really more of a veiled demand but decides to pull the money he was paid from the bank first so he can return it and really stick it to the guy.
Finally, we cut to our last set of PCs who are on their way to Tufting Meadows via a very luxurious train. Inside are Sam and Rekha’s characters! Sam is Buckster $ Boyd (Peccary which is like a small boar/Mastermind Rouge) a Texan Oil Tycoon who acts exactly how you’d expect a Texan Oil Pig to act. Yes, you pronounce the dollar sign as “dollar sign” (even though as we find out later his middle name is Cassius so it’s like Cash which I think is super cool). With him is Rekha’s character, Daisy D'umpstaire (Raccoon/Assassin (???) Rogue another American (from South Carolina) though it seems she’s My Fair Lady’d herself into an upper class socialite (her last name was previously Dumpster). They’re traveling with their accountant, an Armadillo named Armond who seems kinda skittish and concerned about their travel expenses but Buck tells him that to make money you gotta spend money and they’re gonna make a *ton* of money on this trip. They’re also so so mean to him for absolutely no reason.
When the train stops, they’re greeted by Templeton Padhop (a frog, natch) who is the chauffeur of Loan Hall, sent to fetch them. A wheel on his car is broken so he joins in on the Armond abuse immediately and has Armond roll into an Armadillo ball and replace it. Poor guy. When they show up they're greeted by a footman--a pug in a bowler hat named Milo Snout.
Meanwhile, Lars and Sly (Oh, Sly fox, I see what you did there Grant) are similarly greeted by another footman--a lizard named Basil Baskins. On a 23 perception check, Lars sees that Jeremy “Jez” Brockhollow is inside (the son of William who is a badger btw) and also clocks Gangie (who they know as a career criminal who disappeared like a year ago). Gangie doesn’t notice Lars though.
Ian, who is also invited, shows up at about the same time as Sly but very quickly, the conversation is taken over by Lucretia “Lucy” Brockhollow, William’s older, eccentric sister who immediately gets into it with Lars about astrology and the occult (she thinks bad stuff is happening because of a curse let loose when Sly’s old rival--a rabbit named Fletcher Cottonbottom who is the son of his former employer--opened an Egyptian tomb). They’re thick as thieves right away because Ally is a nonsense magnet. And not like a regular magnet, one of those big electromagnets.
Daisy and Buck spot William’s kids--the aforementioned Jez and his older sister Constance--along with their husbands Dr. Corbin Magpie (Constance’s and obv a magpie and a doctor) and Osmond Sheffield (Jez’s who is a Ram and a lawyer). Daisy is too stuck in her conversation with a truly unhinged squirrel (Lady Eugenia Bristlebrush who clearly does not know she’s in a murder mystery because she just keeps talking about how much she hates and wants to kill everyone) to hear what’s going on but she indicates the conversation to Buck who is able to eavesdrop and hear that they’re lamenting that Catherine--the widow--RSVP’d no which is gonna look really bad, like they didn’t invite her (bad PR).
Buck, introducing himself as a business partner of William, eases into a conversation with the husbands which their respective spouses also join into and we learn that Buck's dad was British and a friend of Willian’s. Buck bonds with Jez (who is a bit of a dilettante) really quickly since Buck is ready to go drinks-wise immediately (and there’s a stellar pun about the “American [Drinking] Constitution''). Through the window, Buck notices Gangie outside getting his attention.
At the same time, Ian is going from party guest to party guest, giving out the penances he forgot to earlier at church (as one does). We see him talking to the Lord and Lady Bramble (a cow and hedgehog, respectively) and while she wants to pray her way out of situations without doing any legwork, he wants to buy his way out and gives Ian 250 pounds. A frustrating but financially lucrative conversation.
Buck goes outside to talk to Gangie who has a list of names of the bodies he’s been collecting. We’re not told what Buck is doing but it seems that this list is extremely valuable to him in some way. Gangie (who Buck keeps calling Gangly, to his annoyance) pays him handsomely (like, with a 50% tip) for the list (and Gangie gives him the real list, despite Brennan saying he didn’t have to). We also learn that Gangie has allegedly been getting the orders from someone in Loa Hall and they flow from William himself.
Matilda Molesly (a mole and the head maid) invites Gangie to come in from the rain--she’s the only person who’s been consistently nice to him and he agrees to come in for tea and scones.
Everyone is ushered together by the butler (because of course there’s a butler--he’s quite literally a fancy rat named Thomas Gilfoyle) and William gives a speech where he wishes Conor well and kinda highlights that he did hire Sly to solve the case in a “Hey, I did my bit don’t blame me” kind of way. He also makes a 150k pound donation to the church (and Ian thought 250 was good) and tells his daughter not to read the praise he got for it from the cardinal when she mentions it (I wonder if that was choreographed). Sly interrupts the speech to “magnanimously” give his money back, to William’s annoyance. Buck notices that Lawrence Longfoot (a nouveau rich, rabbit photographer) takes a pic of the scene but with Sly in the foreground and William in the background.
Then, a few things happen at once (in a very cinematic way):
As the camera flashes, Mrs. Molesly drops her tray, eyes hurt by the light. Lady Calliope Fawnbrooke (Deer, Matron of the Arts) helps her up.
In the moment of dark, after the flash goes away, the butler disappears.
Buck thinks he sees a shape through the window, out in the rain.
A cheer goes up for Sly for returning the money but all Sly can focus on is one figure he recognizes in the back of the room. Daisy, who is downing her drink and not cheering for him. He downs his as well, and looks at her until she breaks the stare and leaves the room.
And this episode doesn’t end with a dead body like I thought, but with a flashback to a younger Sylvester, 12 years ago when he first met Daisy.
PC INTERPERSONAL DRAMA Y’ALL!!! Get HYPED!
Case Notes
Here is a compilation of all the characters (PCs and NPCs introduced in this episode).
Sly mentions that Ignatius Cottonbottom faked his own death as a part of some scheme which seems like a backstory point that might come back later--we now know that there exists a way to convincingly fake your own death in this world.
Sly walks with a walking stick because of some “mysterious accident” but we’re jumping into a flashback next week so it looks like we might find out about it pretty soon.
Sly also mentions he used to be the personal physician to the elder Cottonbottom so those are skills he has. I wonder if that’ll be useful to this healer-less party. I wonder if cleric was even an option in this world which seems to be low to no magic. It would explain by Ian is a bad and not a cleric.
Lars has a military background which I wanted to mention in case it becomes relevant later.
And Dr. Magpie grew up poor and still acts it a bit even though he married a very rich woman. Brennan uses the very good line, “He forces his body into the shape of an apology”
This might be a really deep cut reference but did anyone else here was the old Britcom “Keeping Up Appearances”? Cause I was getting serious Bouquet/Bucket energy from Daisy.
This is an all College Humor season and it shows. The energy of 6 (7 if you count Brennan) top notch comedians sparking off of each other, trying to one up each other is off the charts. Some of the best bits this episode:
“When God closes every door but one, you go through the door that is open.” followed by “I’m an owl by the way.”
“Time is money, here’s both” from Buck re his inscribed gold pocket watch--everyone at the table loved that so much and they’re right.
Armond going from being a third to a fourth wheel.
And the names--I already shouted out a ton on the main recap but also a rat butler (like Rhett Butler) and naming the mouse Cat(therine). Can’t forget Gangie Green/gangrene from Katie. Also points to Ally for the data stealing Eel Musk which broke Brennan a little.
I know we just went through this with Crown of Candy but what are these animals eating? Like, in Zootopia there were only mammals so we can assume the carnivores are eating like birds and fish but there are sentient birds here. I know this isn’t important. I’m not trying to do a CinemaSins gotcha. I just wonder, you know?
Y’all were waiting for all the lights to go out during that speech and then come back on and there’d be a body too, right?
If Brennan makes the bad guy a chicken or a duck or something so he can make a “fowl play” joke, he is cordially invited to catch these hands.
I have been waiting for Raph and Katie to do D20 forever. Their specific brand of nonsense on Rank Room was always amazing.
I love love love that Grant and Rekha are the PCs that have ~a past~ because they are so funny together. If you haven’t seen their episode of Game Changers, you absolutely must (it’s also a murder mystery actually!).
#dimension 20#dimension 20 spoilers#mice and murder#mice and murder spoilers#the case file#points and also glares to camwritery for pointing out that grant also went for the silver fox pun#i will be fighting both of you at my earliest convenience

the lightning thief: okay, some of the songs aren’t great, but the ones that work REALLY work. ‘good kid’, ‘the campfire song’, ‘another terrible day’, all amazing
dear evan hansen: i used to be really obsessed with this one. it’s still a great musical and ben platt is mad talented, good for you is still the best fuckifgn song on the sountrack by far, but im just kinda over it
and now: the musicals that i love so much i start breaking the laws of gravity every time i think about them
beetlejuice: fucking STAN sophia anne caruso HOW DOES SHE BELT LIKE THAT its incredible also the way beetlejuice sings is absolutely MIND blowing it’s completely insane and amazing this show got fucking ROBBED of its tony for the lighting i cannot BELIEVE how quickly it went off broadway. fuck
the music man: absolute fucking ICONIC musical. the first song. on the train n shit. i cannot BELIEVE how many times i have listened to that song it is absolutely a crime. it’s just the most bizarre plot, too—random fucker goes to a town, convinces residents a pool table is gonna corrupt their children, and that the only way they can save them is by??? starting a marching band??? and not actually learning anything about music whatsoever? what?????? I LOVE IT
newsies: the way this musical is so disney-esque and corny as shit but some of the lines are just spitting straight anticapitalist FACTS is an absolutely spectacular dynamic. santa fe is incredible, jeremy jordan and ben fankhauser are..,,.,.,attractive,.,., the dancing is SO extra and SO wonderful and it’s literally the only reason i would ever want to learn how to dance
spring awakening: askdjfns∆˚¬å˙∂˜åøˆ∑´¬ƒ¨å∂˚ i have ZERO idea how to explain this musical to anyone else without just being like “just watch a slime tutorial thats the only way you can really Get It” because listening to the soundtrack REALLY doesnt encapsulate the shit these kids go through. the deaf west production is absolutely fucking incredible, the way they use the characters’ ‘voices’ is so smart, the choreography infused with the signs.,.., the way the vineyard scene is actually romantic as fuck and not played for laughs like it is in the ob performance. just. god. i fucking love this musical. please let me play moritz at some point in my life please i desire nothing else
#hamilton#matilda#wicked#the book of mormon#the lightning thief#dear evan hansen#beetlejuice#the music man#newsies#spring awakening#i still feel incredibly weird tagging posts and i dont know why but here goes#is this excessive? probably

Lately, I’ve been having horror-esque dreams.
A couple nights ago, I dreamed that I needed a photo or something of a $5 bill and I stuffed it in this weird handheld machine.
When I viewed the picture of it, there was no $5 bill, it was replaced by a creepy face. Apparently it was some new security measure, any photos or copies of paper money came out looking creepy, in order to try and make it harder to make fakes.
The creepy face kinda looked like a Funko Pop! crossed with a porcelain doll - the only facial feature I remember was the round, blank eyes. The picture was in black and white and the background looked like cracked or shattered glass.
-
Last night, I had a much more interesting and detailed dream.
A young girl who looked like Matilda discovered that her parents and younger brother were mysteriously and brutally killed in the night - there were just bits and pieces of them remaining in their beds.
She went outside and discovered that there were massive giant bear-like bloody paw prints going down the sidewalk. She realized that a monster was responsible and she ran in the direction the paw prints were going, deciding that she was going to be a monster hunter and avenge her family.
(As an aside, it felt somewhat ambigious if the monster had meant to kill her family, it was extra-dimensional and it’s possible that merely by arriving in this dimension, it could’ve accidentally caused their deaths and the weird dimensional stuff is why there were just bits and pieces remaining.
It also felt like the monster was huge, walked on four feet and maybe had a smooth rounded face with no eyes. It might’ve had a mouth under the end of the smooth part, it probably had sharp teeth to match its sharp claws.)
The dream then time-skipped to her as a young woman now having just bought a new house in a very traditional neighborhood. (She might or might not have had a son, that part feels vaguer and vaguer as I think about it.)
She was hand painting some kind of words or something in monster blood on the front of her house, and she had already stuck at least 3 weird knoblike things on her house - presumably spoils from her ongoing and successful monster hunting career. (I feel like the monster blood was to try and keep monsters away from her house.)
It then jumped to the town having a meeting about keeping up standards and appearances.
Then it was back to Monster Hunter Matilda, who was pushing a large (and relatively normal) white and blue flower container into place outside her house.
It felt like she was still a successful monster hunter, and was maybe tracking a monster, and that’s why she ended up in the traditional town. I don’t think she had yet found the monster that killed her family, but she was still on the hunt.

NAME: Ignis Stupeo Scientia NAME MEANING: Ignis means fire, Stupeo translates to roughly astonishing/ecstacy, and Scientia is science. So yayy. Fire erotic science boy. AGE: 22/32 GENDER: Male ETHNICITY: White NATIONALITY: Lucian
WHAT TIME DO THEY USUALLY GET UP IN THE MORNING?: 5:30
WHAT IS THEIR MORNING ROUTINE?: First and foremost coffee, and then shower, shave, get dressed, make breakfast, check his calendar for the day while he eats.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE THEM TO GET READY IN THE MORNING?: If he’s got the time, he can easily spend an hour getting ready. Being presentable is something important to him, and he will absolutely take the time he needs to. On the road, he speeds up his routine quite a bit – roughly cutting the time he needs to get ready in half.
WHAT TIME TO DO THEY USUALLY GO TO BED?: If Ignis had his way he’d be in bed by 9:30 every night. As it is, he’s usually got a lot of things to finish up and tends to retire closer to midnight – something he very much does not enjoy.
DO THEY FALL ASLEEP EASILY? DO THEY STAY ASLEEP EASILY?: He’s one of those people who has learned how to make themselves fall asleep – breathing techniques and things, so once he’s deemed it time to rest, his body rests. As far as staying asleep, he does wake up quite frequently in the night. Ignis is an annoyingly light sleeper and has a hard time sleeping in the same room as Gladio for this reason. And once he goes blind, that bit gets even worse as his hearing becomes sharper and his dreams become a tad less pleasant.
WHAT POSITION DO THEY SLEEP IN?: Ignis is a coffin sleeper. On his back, hands on his chest. He’ll also occasionally shift to his side in the night.
WHAT IS THEIR HANDWRITING LIKE?: Small, slanted shorthand. It’s hard to read not because it’s bad handwriting, but just because he uses so many acronyms and shortened version of words only he knows.
DO THEY PREFER TYPING THINGS OR WRITING THINGS?: Typing. He can type faster than he can write and often his brain is going too fast for his hand to adequately keep up
WHAT FORM OF ART (I.E. SCULPTURE, EMBROIDERY, PAINTING, ETC) DO THEY LIKE?: Iggy really has an appreciation for theater and acting, as well as classical paintings. They fascinate him.
ARE THEY AN ARTIST THEMSELVES? WHAT KIND OF ART DO THEY DO?: The only art he’d likely consider himself proficient at is ballroom dancing, but that was more out of necessity than desire..
WHAT ARE SOME OF THEIR FAVORITE BOOKS?: The Wrinkle in Time series, Jane Austen, and those interesting sci fi esque old stories, like 1982 and Flatland.
WHAT GENRES OF MOVIES DO THEY LIKE?: Oscar bait. Pretentious movies with a lot to say about the state of the world.
WHAT MUSIC GENRES DO THEY ENJOY?: Vaporwave, Prince, David Bowie (Blackstar specifically he loves). Fite Me.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THEIR FAVORITE MUSICAL ACTS?: RENT. He loves…. RENT. He also loves Matilda, Next to Normal, has quite the soft spot for Phantom, and although he found the storyline reprehensible he loves the music of Love Never Dies.
DO THEY PREFER THEIR MUSIC TO SOUND A CERTAIN WAY?: He likes music that is relaxing, something he can listen to and not be too bothered by.
ARE THEY A MUSICIAN THEMSELVES?: No. It was not a skill he was required to learn growing up, and so he didn’t. His paternal grandmother taught him a few things on the piano when he was very young, but he’s definitely forgotten them by now. Once he goes blind he briefly tries to pick the skill back up, as a way to acclimate himself to learning through sound, but only ends up learning a few simple songs – not having a teacher in the apocalypse made it a bit difficult to learn something so superfluous.
DO THEY ENJOY MUSIC FROM CERTAIN DECADES? IF SO, WHICH DECADES?: He has a soft spot for the 80’s, 90’s.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THEIR FAVORITE PIECES OF CLOTHING/OUTFITS IN THEIR WARDROBE? IF NOT APPLICABLE, WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE SOME OF THEIR FAVORITE PIECES OF CLOTHING/OUTFITS?: Iggy wears sock garters and shirt stays and suspenders a lot of the time, and he loves his straps tbh. He really likes the way his white and blue striped shirt looks on him though.
HOW MUCH ARE THEY WILLING TO SPEND ON CLOTHES?: Quite a lot. Clothes are an important part of the way people view him and he sees it as a necessary cost.
WHAT COLORS AND PATTERNS ARE PROMINENT IN THEIR WARDROBE? WHAT COLORS AND PATTERNS DO THEY WEAR THE MOST OFTEN?: Courel print. And purple. Almost everything he wears has a cool tint to it.
WHAT KIND OF CLOTHES DO THEY LIKE?: Ignis quite likes shopping for suits. He’s well versed in all the terminology and was friends with his tailor (Cyril) back in Insomnia.
DO THEY WEAR MAKEUP? WHAT TYPE DO THEY WEAR?: No, he doesn’t wear make up. He does wash his face though.
DO THEY WEAR/DO YOU ASSOCIATE THEM WITH CLOTHES FROM A CERTAIN DECADE? IF SO, WHICH?: His clothes are like a modern, rich, flamboyant gay man who lives in a penthouse and has classy orgies in all the time.
WHAT FONT/FONTS DO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH THEM?: jfc I don’t know…. Times New Roman? I think he’d use that font a lot. Something clean and simple.
WHAT COLORS DO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH THEM?: On one side, I associate green and gold with him. On the other side, black and purple.
WHAT NATURAL ELEMENTS (GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES LIKE MOUNTAINS, ANIMALS, SEASONS, LOCATIONS, PLANTS, ETC.) DO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH THEM: I associate him with winter, the forest, rain and foxes and steady rivers.

MIKEY’S PERSONAL BLOG 66, August 2017
“Whether we’re overcoming adversity, surviving trauma, or dealing with stress and anxiety, having a sense of purpose, meaning and perspective in our lives allows us to develop understanding and move forward.” The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown (p. 74)
On Monday morning, I attended my Healthy Cooking on a Budget class at Balla Balla Community Centre in Cranbourne East. Today’s class was much smaller than usual probably due to the wet weather outside. Despite my usual levels of social anxiety and nerves, I was actually feeling a lot more productive and prepared today compared to last week. I was determined to get more involved and having encouragement from Kevin and Jodie certainly helped me a lot.
Today we made some profiteroles and some gougere with the choux pastry as a base. Most of the work involved using a saucepan to combine ingredients and a wooden spoon to stir them vigorously together. It was tricky at times because I’m generally not a fast stirrer and I had to consciously try to increase my speed. At least I had Kevin that I could alternate tasks with. We had to make a seperate chocolate ganache mixture as well as a chocolate filling for the choux pastry.
We also made a savoury alternative by combining bacon pieces, onion, chopped parsley, grated cheese and mustard with the choux pastry mixture. I was a bit rusty with the piping bag as I haven’t done it in so long but the puffs turned out pretty well in the oven. We dipped each of the puffs in the chocolate ganache and then filled each one with the chocolate filling.
On Monday night, I attended an RPM class at YMCA Casey ARC in Narre Warren. I was feeling restless, drained and exhausted all day from lack of sleep and allowing people to drag me down over social media. So I really needed this class just to clear my head and hopefully boost my positive energy levels back up. Tonight’s class was run by instructor Claire who was really fired up, loud and motivating.
We cycled along to release number 60 which featured tracks including Rhianna’s Diamonds, One Republic’s If I Lose Myself, Rudimental’s Not Giving In and Andy Grammer’s Miss Me. There were a few sprint sections, some intense interval training and easy ride parts. It wasn’t my best or fastest RPM performance but I really put a lot of effort in especially during the last few tracks. My glutes, hips and groin were all starting to feel it so clearly I was still working hard in tonight’s class. http://www.totallylesmills.com/site...
On Tuesday morning, I went to my Flow Yoga class at YMCA Casey ARC in Narre Warren. I was still feeling a bit sore from yesterday but thankfully yoga is really good for joint mobility and releasing tension so I needed this class today. Instructor Michelle guided us through various poses including Flowing Sequences (Downward Facing Dog, Knee to Nose, Crescent Lunge), Balancing (Eagle pose, Stork pose, Aeroplane pose, Warrior 3) and Inversions (Shoulder Stand, Fish pose).
Michelle spoke about the power of listening, both to yourself and others. This helps to improve your mindfulness skills, mental concentration and quieting the mind. Our meditation today focused on paying attention to the different sounds inside and outside of the group fitness room (the music, Michelle’s voice, your breath, conversations, environmental noises). http://soundmeditation.com/portfoli...
On Wednesday morning, I had my Strength Training session with Luke Davey at Breakaway Fitness in Berwick. I’ve honestly come a long way in the six months I’ve been training with Luke this year. I’ve struggled to find a sense of belonging and acceptance at UFT PLAYgrounds. I’ve struggled with how I’ve felt about myself. I’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, fears, loneliness and overthinking. And now I’ve pushed myself into a much more positive headspace. The physical and mental struggle has definitely been worth it.
Of course that doesn’t mean my mental illness has instantly banished. It just means that I’m able to cope with it better and use strategies to get on top of it. I’m making more of an effort to say hello and break the ice with some of the other trainers. I’m making more of an effort to connect better with Luke during my sessions. I’m learning to be okay with silence, with not having much to say, with making mistakes, with not knowing what I’m doing and most importantly, with being myself.
WARM-UP...Today I started my session by doing 20 Scorpion stretches, 2 rounds of pretzel stretches on each side of the body and 3 rounds of 8 reps single arm kettle bell lifts with leg balance. This was probably the most difficult in terms of co-ordination, body position and keeping my balance but I still managed to finish them.
DEVELOPMENT...Today I did 5 rounds of 8 deadlifts at 70kg. During the warm-up run, I was starting to feel soreness and pinching through my lower back. Past Michael would have suffered and put up with it for fear of rejection. But I knew I had to speak up about it. This was the “potential for injury” kind of pain and thankfully Luke took it seriously. It certainly not something I would lie about nor was it me playing the “poor me” card.
So I ended up doing some foam rolling and additional stretches into my lower back and glutes using the rubber ball and my own body weight. This helped loosen up the tightness in my muscles and when I resumed doing the deadlifts, my lower back felt much better. Initially my form and technique was a little off and I was doing the reps too quickly. However, with some conscious awareness, I managed to improve my deadlifts and make them more controlled. It’s all practice and I’m still proud of my efforts today.
I finished my session off by doing some more foam rolling and a few yoga stretches including Downward Facing Dog and Cobra pose, holding each of these for strength and endurance. https://www.facebook.com/breakawayf...
On Thursday night, I went to my Water Workout class at YMCA Casey RACE in Cranbourne. Arriving a few minutes early, I decided to jump in the spa and use the jets to relieve the tension and soreness in my lower back (plus perve on a few guys because why not :P) before starting the class. Tonight’s class was facilitated by instructor Mary who had a very witty and sarcastic sense of humour.
We did the usual combination of underwater exercises and movements including pendulum, rock n’ roll, jogging, digging and pushing away the water, ski slopes, star jumps and tuck jumps. We also used the dumb bells to do some doggy paddling both forwards and backwards. I’m slowly gaining confidence in this area of swimming and I managed to keep my head above water and kicking my legs fast for power. It felt really good about myself. https://fitness.edu.au/the-fitness-...
On Friday morning, I had my Strength Training session with Luke Davey at Breakaway Fitness in Berwick. My session today was all about having the courage and belief in myself to speak up without fear. I wanted to update my current fitness goals to incorporate some new movements including Snatches and Muscle Ups/Pull Ups. I also wanted to develop and improve upon other movements including Pushups and Box Jumps. Thankfully Luke was very receptive to my suggestions and changing up my program a bit in the future.
WARM-UP...Today’s warm up exercises included my usual Y-stretch into the upper body and shoulders, lying down on the bench with arms extended out behind me. I also did 3 rounds of 10 single arm dumb bell rows at 25kg. This was pretty tough for me particularly when I got to the 8th rep or so. I was fatiguing quickly and struggled to lift the dumb bell all the way up to my armpit. But as always, I did my best and rested when necessary.
DEVELOPMENT...Today I did a dumb bell bench press exercise with two 10kg weights. Getting the movement and technique down was probably the most difficult part but I did improve over time. I’m learning not to get myself easily distracted by external noises as well. Just focus on what you’re doing and stay in the present moment.
WORKOUT...Today’s workout was another really tough one but I decided that I was up for the challenge. I had to do three rounds of the following: 15 cal on the assault bike, 15 ring rows, 15 box jumps and 15 push ups. The last two exercises were the most difficult for me. I do have some anxiety going into the box jumps but at least Luke made the height realistic and achievable. I basically just pretended that my shoes were like rockets and I exploded up onto the box. My fear of tripping over and potentially hurting myself quickly disintegrated. This is exactly how you build confidence and work towards improvement.
The push ups were also really hard but only because my arm muscles were burning a lot from the other exercises. But I do feel like I am getting better at them. In time, I’ll be able to work up to a full push up position but for now, doing them on my knees is more than enough for me. I ended up completing the three rounds in 13 minutes and 40 seconds.
Later that day, I attended the Morning Melodies social function at Waltzing Matilda Hotel in Springvale. Today’s entertainer was Sandie Dodd who played tribute to Dolly Parton. She was dressed up in a 60’s styled blonde wig, a glittering red dress and matching red studded stilettos. She was extremely funny and even pulled out some dance moves and a Dolly-esque Southern accent. She performed many of Dolly’s classic country hits including Silver Threads and Golden Needles, To Daddy, Coat of Many Colours, Here You Come Again, Joellene, Ya’ll Come and 9 to 5. https://www.reverbnation.com/sandie...
On Friday night, I attended the first Full Moon meditation class at YMCA Casey ARC in Narre Warren. The staff had spaced out blue and black yoga mats to fill the entire group fitness room with a tealight candle, questionnaire and small purple inspiration card placed down at each mat. Everyone who attended could bring their own blankets, pillows, jumpers and whatever else they needed to make themselves warm and comfortable.
The guided meditation was facilitated by instructor Michelle who also teaches yoga and pilates classes. Part of it was a progressive muscle relaxation, releasing tension, negative emotions and toxins from various areas of the body. The other part was more of a visualisation. The imagery consisted of a Japanese Garden and a temple which we mentally explored during the meditation. I always seem to feel lighter after meditating, especially when it’s done in a group environment.
After tonight, the Full Moon meditation classes will be running every month at Casey Arc and every second Friday at Casey Race. I truly hope that it takes off and brings a lot of members together. http://www.caseyarc.ymca.org.au/eve...
“I’ve gotta stop my mind, working overtime, it’s driving me insane. It will not let me live. Always so negative. It’s become my enemy. And none of these thoughts are real. So why is it that I feel so cut up and so bad? I need to take control ‘cause my mind is on a roll and it isn’t listening to me.” Jem - Save Me (2004)
“Don’t be embarrassed, don’t be afraid. Don’t let your dreams slip away. It's determination and using your gift. Everybody has a gift. Never give up, never let it die. Trust your instincts and most importantly. You’ve got nothing to lose. So just go for it.” Jem - It’s Amazing (2008)
