Oooh consider: the Raves go pro in pairs. You cannot sign one Raven, you have to sign at least two, and they live together and keep each other in the cult lifestyle for at least a while, which makes for a kind of soft landing into the real world.
The chaos with the disbandment was so much worse because it was abrupt, unexpected, and they were sent alone to their perfectly normal families who generally went what the FUCK very loudly
(also it was all of them at once so public)
(I also think the fifth year Ravens have to go through a kind of weaning period where they learn how to keep up the cult stuff while living in a 24 hour world)
Oh the fifth year Ravens essentially being weaned out of the cult is SO interesting. I don’t know how it’d work or if it’d work but the idea of them spending their final year how to go out and live a normal life while Still Being Ravens. That’s so intriguing.
And I do feel like that is pretty plausible. A handful of 4? 5? Ravens graduate together each year. More, maybe? There’s probably some pro teams that are more likely to sign Ravens than others, and they have some sort of understanding of their buddy system. It works for them because they get two ravens on their team, and it works for the ravens because they’re not coming away from the nest cold turkey with no adjustment period.

there's something about butches reclaiming protectiveness and chivalry from an imposed "caring, nurturing" character associated and often forced upon women. something about how while straight men often try to present as careless as possible, masculinity and care are not only not conflicting in the butch identity, but inherent to it. there's something there.

something something Ren meant the stereotypical angel with you know one pair of wings and a halo and stuff, meanwhile Martyn imagined a biblically accurate one and became terrified of the thought that he reminds Ren of a watcher
that moment when your liege compares you to your worst enemy-

forever obsessed with dynamics between vampires, specifically that of a maker and fledgling, as a way to explore abuse. the creation of a vampire itself can so easily be a literalization of the lasting impacts of trauma and also much more simply the ways a perpetrator might shape their victim’s very identity. the extremes of isolation in the way that the new vampire, in most narratives, must cut all ties to their mortal life, or else go through an elaborate charade to maintain the facade of humanity, while forever still being removed from it. and the sheer dependence and vulnerability of being in an entirely new state of being, wholly uncertain of what it entails, and relying on another person to define… everything.
