Asra woke up after a long day to find you making breakfast. The window was wide open, the sheer white curtains pushed to the side and he could hear the chirping of the morning birds as the sun spilled in the room. "Good morning, Asra," you smiled. "Good morning, love," Asra yawned, pulling his cardigan over his shoulder. "That looks delightful." "Well, I know you had a long day, and sometimes, you need to be taken care of." Asra smiled at you and pressed kisses all over your face as you plated his food. When you finished, you threw your arms around him and he buried his face in the crook of your neck, taking a deep breath of you in. He smiled and sighed wistfully as you played with his shining, white curls. He pulled back from you only to press a couple of kisses onto your soft lips and scoop up his plate, leading it to the small dining room table. You followed shortly behind and the two of you ate breakfast in near silence, hearing the fresh green leaves on the trees rustling from the morning breeze. The tea kettle you had set was squealing and you ran over quickly to prepare both of your tea. When you had come back to the dining room, you found Asra reading a book, putting your current work in progress where you were sitting. ohhh i really wonder what you thought my house/room looks like now!

i am currently renting and it's a studio. i have white walls with light wooden floorboards and then a small white table, light grey sofa, and a rather modern no-headboard bed. i like dark wood so i have a dark bookcase and a white overhead lamp with gold inside (both from ikea) tiny little closet kitchen with white, green, pink, and yellow as my main kitchen theme colours. i lean more minimalist than maximalist and i have a large silver mirror leaning on the wall, fairy lights up, and a lot of paintings leaning on the walls instead of hanging because i rent. i keep a lot of floor space clear so i can pace/run/dance around in it. little plants around. lots of green and white for bedding. some black like a floor lamp and my kitchen knives.

my ideal interior style is like nordic minimalism meets fairy core meets dark academia meets new england farmhouse meets irish cottage (for terms that are close when i google them). right now i have a lot of books on the bookcase and floor and on the dark wooden chest that i use to store sweaters and art around and my little portable easel and my little trees and dark furniture contrast with the white walls. and i tend to keep things very clean because i can't concentrate in clutter + i'm allergic to dust!

love - what’s your favorite aesthetic?

There are aspects of several aesthetics I adore.

As far as fashion goes I have ALWAYS leaned towards a pastel goth meets cottage core type of vibe with som quirky eclectic pieces thrown in. Like take Tohru Honda(Fruits Basket) and combine her wardrobe with Misa Amane's(Death Note) and Penelope's (Penelope).

Then as far as decor ... it's probably something very similar.. . only throw in some dark academia as well.

tulip - cities you think that people should visit in your country.

Ooooh that's tricky, because I haven't been to very many cities myself/some I've visited for only Business and didn't get to do much.

Colorado Springs is nice, was quite lovely as far as nature goes. However if you are prone to altitude sickness it might not be as pleasent.

San Antonio is fun to explore, Constantly expandning, has a wider variety of food than I expected, as well as some lovely hiking/nature trails

The little I saw of St Louis wasn't bad, where I was staying had some pretty great architectual finds, like Gargoyles and other sculptures on building facades.

Orlando also had some interesting finds...the McDonalds that was near my hotel had a pizza oven and pasta! ANd throwing in a bit of curveball/stretch because it's not a city and is technically a territory but Guam is amazing!!! Awesome food, lots of nature opportunities, a lot of experiences if you're willing to go out.

Is there a greater arching reason for your collection of dark cottage core aesthetic photos? Like for inspiration for art or writing. Or is it meeting a happy place for you to escape to at the end of the day? Great content, just curious if theres something deeper behind the blog.

Hmm. Great question.

I think it started off as just a way for me to collect images and ideas that I found to be very beautiful or relatable. And from there it began to sort of inspire me to do little things in such a way as to be beautiful as well. Little moments of joy. Gradually it helped me find my own sense of what I find to be beautiful, and more and more people began following who evidently share those ideas. I think there's something inherently comforting in sharing and agreeing upon things of beauty in the world with others.

And, there didn't really seem to be many designated "dark cottagecore" kinds of blogs out there - so I made my own. I love rain, moss, forests. Grey, overcast, cold, and windy days. And I especially love the idea of a dual academic and homebody, the fusion of dark academia and cottagecore. As a woman I don't think we should be forced to categorize ourselves into the achievers and the homemakers, with crossover between the two forbidden. I am very passionate about my career, and I feel very called to do it to my fullest as a vocation - but I also love the idea of being a wife and mother, and doing simple, everyday, beautiful things like making fresh breakfast for my family or sitting and enjoying a cup of tea while I watch rain and storms roll in across the fields. Becoming an educator to the best of my ability, but getting to run a homestead as well. Learning and teaching Gaeilge to others but also speaking it at home with my own kids.

As I have grown in my faith I have found that I see more and more beauty in Christ, the Church, the Eucharist, Creation.....Faith has become the center of my life, as I never thought it possible. I feel completely transformed by Christ's love, and I've never felt more joyful, truly. And you can see it reflected in my blog posts throughout the past year or so. I post what I find beautiful and what I am passionate about - what I see Christ in.

But, y'know, sometimes I also post the random shit that comes to mind, since this is Tumbler, after all.

I must admit, this is mostly because you really give off Levi's vibes. But let me explain........

This man is definition of intelligence, cannot convince me otherwise. He is clever, wise, curious. I feel like you would constantly learn from each other in a very genuine way.

The two of you complement each other. Your passionate ways might catch Erwin out of guard sometimes, because he tends to have a more stoic personality; but he sure loves you, more than he will ever be able to admit. Both of you are very analytical and can come off as 'cold' when it comes to distressing situations, but truth is you are able to read between the lines and that is something that Erwin admires, and that has made him feel alone for his whole life.

Erwin understand your insecurities, and probably shared some of those with you in his younger days. He had to go through it all alone and know how it feels to be your own biggest enemy. Whenever you feel insecure about something, eg. your writing, he'd sit next to you and, if this was okay with you, would proofread your work. He would always emphasise how good your work is, and genuinely be impressed by the stories your mind is able to create. Bonus point: he would definitely stare at you while you write; he loves the concentration shown on your face, the way you stare out the window looking for the right metaphor to convey a certain image. This man has an immense library, containing books of all sorts. But your own books are displayed like literal trophies around the house. he'd probably buy more than one copy to expose them everywhere.

DATE NIGHTS AT THE THEATRE!! Erwin is really drawn to arts, and I am 100% sure he enjoys ballet; he is also a big fan of the Opera.

Other dates might take place in museums like the Freuds' one in London, or in antique Castles - where you'd get to know not only the story of the royal family who lived there, but you'd also see and learn about their prisons systems and the type of punishments they reserved to prisoners.

On the other hand, Erwin also loves to just chill at home with you. Hi! I saw your TWST match-up event and I was hoping to join in?(if not, that's cool too)

Physical apperence:

I'm 5"3 with brown almond-shaped eyes, and shoulder length hair(dyed black to blonde ombre) thats trummed into a wolf-cut looking style. I have a fairly athletic build and have a slight hourglass figure. I also tan really easily so I'm usually some variation of tan/brown.

The way I look can be "deciving". Sense I enjoy dressing in curious aesthetics and styles(ex. Tech wear, dark/light academia, cottage core, cityscape aesthetic), I can have a different vibe where ever I go. And that only get more complicated when I choose to crosssdress. I'm female and usually present as such, but I enjoy having masc-presenting looks or just straight up cross-dressing.

Personality:

When first meeting me, I do my best to be as curtious and polite as I can. Though, that usually comes across as looking very quiet/stoic and formal. Once I'm comfortable with someone and/or with friends, I become much more lively and bubbly. I like trying to make other laugh through jokes, pick-up lines, and small pranks(like spooking them from a door or something). Sociability-wise, I'm a generally more introverted. Most the time, I'm happy to just spend time by myself or with a few close friends. However, if I'm at a party or with the right crowd, I can quickly become loud and friendly around people.

With an S/O, I'm very patient and devoted to them. However, that's only because it's hard for me to become attached to someone enough to see them as a partner. -Vil usually doesn't really have anything against people who didn't fit into the society's expectations of a body but in the relationship he does try to give you that "perfect look", even though he doesn't want to seem toxic. But since you have an athletic build and a love for sports, he always makes sure you tag along in his runs, since he knows you are capable of catching up to him.

-As a model, he has to look at different aesthetics and is surprised when you dress up as all of them. Usually people settle with one or two, but you try to dress up as all which makes you unique in a good way. About crossdressing, he doesn't really mind it as long as dont ruin youself to look masculine as you look masculine even with makeup and good skincare.

-Your first impressions are probably what made him think you were perfect for him since he always likes people who are polite but when your liveliness started to show, he asked you to only keep your bubbliness with close friends or just him since he wants you both to look like a perfect and formal couple, even though the relationship is hidden away from his fans and such.But this doesn't mean he wasn't open to protect you from them.

-Lastly is that, if you have a hobby or interest, he instantly loves you even more no matter what it is(of course he will have a problem if it ruins your appearance). It just spares him from feeling pitiful or working hard for you to enjoy something. If he sees you enjoy something, he's happy. But even if you don't have an interests, he will help you find something in his free time.

-In the general relationship, he is sweet, kind and polite with you and as much as he has these old fashioned ideas of what a body should look like, he isn't old fashioned with his partner or women or pretty anything else.

I regret to say that when I first started working on this ask, I was only going to delve a little bit into each of your questions, but my heart insisted on expanding each answer for you, and... Well...

I'll be dividing this into two different posts, as everything together is far too long to put into a single answer. ^_^;

In general, I don't think the Nations would be particularly attracted to someone for their aesthetic per say. In order to approach this, I instead tried to picture which of the Nations would likely mesh best with said aesthetics, and a few scenarios were born.

First up is Dark Academia, which kind of veers a bit more into the gothic/horror vibes than I was anticipating, but came to absolutely love as I went along.

Dark Academia:

Austria

Roderich has always been a perfectionist, often spends hours practising each day.

He's often finding inspiration for his compositions in seemingly the most mundane moments, has ruined many a journal and napkin with his frantic, sporadic writing, scribbling away in shorthand with almost a manic zeal.

You never fault him for it; he breathes music, each inhale and exhale just another crescendo and decrescendo in an ever-changing, uncharted symphony.

Recently however, he's lost his footing, loses his sense of direction even in his favourite concert halls.

You often catch him falling asleep at the piano, rehearsing long into the night, the calluses on his fingertips broken and crusted with dried blood.

The room is always a mess now; spilled ink coats crumpled, scattered music sheets, wax from the candelabra has melted down and solidified on the runner, one of the chairs has been broken in what you pray was an accident.

In the passing, fleeting, yearning moments when he steps away from it all, those rare moments when you coax him to eat and drink, to bathe, to sleep-

He rambles almost incoherently about the perfect symphony- frenetically, feverishly- pleads with you to help him, to ground him, to rid him of the thrice-damned refrain.

He is haunted- nay, plagued- by the song, obsessively begins to rewrite over-and-over again, cursing himself, cursing his limitations.

It kills you to see him in such a state, a witness to the near discordant harmony of anguish and ambition.

You ache to stop him, to ensure this spectre never haunts another living soul.

But you've heard it yourself, just enough to know you can't stop him.

It took only a few, hypnotic measures for you to succumb to its spell, to this dangerous, intoxicating melody that will do anything to be heard.

Natalya is hiding something from you, something that has her constantly looking over her shoulder, has her more guarded than ever before.

You'll find the truth here somewhere, just as you're sure you'll figure out where she's disappeared to for the past nine days.

You continue your search for answers- both hers and your own- and know they're following you now, just as they followed her.

This is a dangerous game, and the more you learn, the deadlier it becomes.

England

Arthur teaches you the power of words, a lesson you learn too late.

He lures you in with a bashful smile- always such soft smiles- and the perfect words.

Madagascar

Sakina talks in her sleep, during those few nights when your schedules sync up.

You're used to her long, odd work hours, and have long grown accustomed to her dedication to the Lab.

But she's been... off, lately.

There's a restlessness in her tapping fingers, a sense of apprehension and tension hanging around her as she pours over old reports, haunted eyes constantly drawn back to the shore.

So little of it makes sense; you've learnt enough through your time together to vaguely understand the abstracts from the dozens of articles littering her study, but you don't understand the chaotic mess of half-finished formulas and unfamiliar symbols covering her whiteboard, nor do you see the correlation to the dozens of newspaper clippings she has taped sporadically about the room.

She's taken to reciting equations in her sleep now, constantly has nightmares about... It.

She's sleeping less-and-less, has exhausted your coffee stockpiles, repeatedly begs and warns you to stay out of the water.

You're desperate to understand what is stealing her away from you, desperate for answers, desperate to save her from whatever precipice her research has led her to.

She's so lost to her research that she scarcely notices your presence over her shoulder, never seems to notice when her desk is rearranged from your own reading.

Slowly, you are starting to understand her frantic scribbles, are starting to understand the connection between all the journals that, once, seemed to have no correlation whatsoever.

You have your suspicions, you have your doubts.

Yet you can't argue with the years of evidence, can't argue the facts right in front of you.

You desperately try to convince yourself that you're wrong, that she's wrong.

But the more you learn, the more certain you are of the truth, the more you begin to dread the very thing she's been studying all along.

2.) Where are you from? I won’t say exact, but I live in the middle of USA (I can’t wait to move-)

3.) Do you have pets? 👀 Yes! 3 dogs and 2 cats, tho only one cat is truly “mine”

Tell us about your “dream”. uhh like where I want to be in life? what I want to do? um I’m still working on the exact job title, but I wish to do research at a natural history/science museum (sorta like archives or collections manager, but neither of those are quite right i think). Otherwise, I just hope to adopt and even foster kids cause my life would not be complete without little ones :3 (spouse/partner optional lol) 

5.) Aside from art, what are your hobbies? Randomly researching things that grasp my attention, games...lots of games, reading, watching tv, coloring (wait does that count as art-), uhhh spacing out

I’ve had some poems published before (it was with entering a poetry contest), I have surprisingly good balance, my brain is not properly awake/functioning until 10am which has led to me almost using soap as toothpaste a few times too many, I have a birthmark on my finger (bonus: it sorta changes color/how noticeable it is depending on how hot or cold I am lol, i call it a mini thermometer cause of this), apparently Lion King was my Disney movie obsession as a kid...oh and I have a certificate in cryptozoology lolz

9.) What’s your day job? i work as a private nanny/glorified babysitter (i don’t live with them or drive but work regular hours through week and as needed; even join the occasional vacation with them)

Sogo i heavily relate to as well cause he’s,,,very nice and hides his own feelings, putting others before himself (but when right buttons get pushed, he can be scary lol) so yeah, those two

The House as an apartment building:

Sectioned off per apartment ft. Pictures 

I’m telling you I want the House of Wind to start functioning more as an apartment building. Like the House deliberately being like “you took my baby’s apartment. Well I’m making her a new one. Improved too with nice amenities and free clean up service and an on sight cook. Suck it.”

Azriel’s Apartment:

Like Azriel’s got his own sequestered off place that’s not easily accessible to everyone. His own door. It does have a kitchen, because honestly the House doesn’t know much about him and it tries not to peek into his space too much. If the House is being honest, it’s a little bit afraid of what it might find. So it has a kitchen and a bedroom and a tiny personal library stacked with books of all kinds, and a space to play chess (The one Nesta gifts him that plays by itself-see other post). It’s pretty dark. Has a lot of black and black out curtains, Azriel prefers that. Very muted, but tasteful and mostly clean. IF he’s in a good mood. I don’t know I picture his room half-intellectual/half-angsty rocker type. Think metal work vs bookshelves vs. minimalist. 

Emerie and Gwyn’s Apartment: 

Emerie and Gwyn end up living together in their own sequestered apartment in the House. Before, they stayed in separate rooms when they stayed for long periods away from their respective homes--Gwyn just wanting to venture out but not far, and Emerie just not wanting to deal with the transportation issue. After, the house changed its layout, they each get their own apartment. BUT they just couldn’t deal with being alone. The apartment was lonely and it was too quiet and they literally lived right across the hall and they would just keep knocking at each other’s doors and leaving the door open or just not wanting to leave. It was just too large for one person. So, the House makes them a two bedroom and no one can tell if it’s small or if they have just filled with it so much that it just looks small. It’s eclectic and eccentric. Colorful. Plants. Posters and pictures on the wall. Think cottage core mixed with heavy bold fabrics. Messy but not messy. Cluttered but not cluttered. 

A kitchen that’s painted in different colors (Emerie likes to cook and the house respects this) and it juts out to hang over the mountain that overlooks the other side not facing the city, so it’s more mountains and wildflowers and snow in the winter, think picturesque. Very nature. Emerie and Gwyn (and Nesta) will drink hot coco and peer out all the time. This is their happy space. It’s very cozy.

Nesta and Cassian’s Apartment:

Nesta and Cassian’s apartment is two floors. It’s more like a townhouse I suppose. I was going to have the family library connected, but I think the family library stays a common space for everyone. But it is closer to Nesta’s place. The apartment though does have so many books everywhere. The staircase has books running up the side. 

There’s a patio/sunroom now, that overlooks the city and the windows open. There’s bookshelves there too, this is Nesta’s reading area. It has a hanging chair and if Cassian can’t find her in the morning, she is always there with a hot beverage.

This apartment has many rooms like seven and they’re like how are we going to fill this..... it’s my headcanon that the House knows they want a big family and is like whenever y’all are ready, but what really happens is that they end up adopting so many kids over the years that these rooms gets filled up easily. A twelve year old is the first from the continent, Lyra (when they get pregnant years past), then the twins who are from Hybern, then an Illyrian, etc (That’s a post for another time). Their apartment is just really cute and home-y and fun. It’s definitely kid friendly. But it also helps that the two of them are like two big kids themselves so... But it accommodates to suit the amount of people that start living there, who all just have such big, individual personalities and interests and they are all different ages so it’s tough, but it works. And Nesta and Cassian also have space for themselves, especially Nesta who sometimes just needs silence from the noise. Anyways that’s years later, back to regular scheduled programs.

Nesta and Cassian’s home just feels light and airy, and a mixture between hygge, springtime, and rainy days on the beach. Very bright and airy, and Nesta loves this place. Touches of blue of course everywhere, and mostly tans and creams. So, so many windows overlooking the city that have plant boxes on all of them, that are filled with dainty white and blue flowers (The House looks after these--it’s a great gardener too).

Shared/Common Spaces:  

The greenhouse/terrarium place that Nesta ends up practicing magic in most days, is technically located in her apartment, but it also has a door in the private library and then also has a door in the library library. It doesn’t open unless Nesta gives permission to those who enter. So, Nesta ends up giving permission to the priestesses to work up there. Because just like they didn’t mind Bryaxis they really have no concerns with Nesta practicing magic. They’re like this might as well happen. 

But again this place, as I said in my other post, has carnivorous and poisonous plants, and there’s a snake eventually running through this large garden space, and there’s a giant pond in the middle of this place. It should be more concerning but nope. Priestesses really like it up there. They start practicing alchemy too, for those priestesses who dabble in chemistry and the dark arts. Think dark academia.  

I initially thought Elain would like it here, but now that I’m thinking about it Elain would probably be iffy about this place. The plants have a mind of their own here and though she supports her sister in her arts and her magic, she is not keen on being in the center of it all, herself. There’s a certain level of control to gardening and these plants are just... uncontrollable. Elain rather likes adventuring to mean new countries and meeting new people, but not this sort of adventure where you might die if a plant decides it’s a little hungry or someone changed the temperature of the water. Magic is Nesta’s thing. She’ll leave this wild terrarium to Nesta. 

The Kitchen is also a shared space, but only for the residents of the House of Wind. Most people don’t go down there, but Elain does when she visits Nesta and wants to spend some quality time with her (also in my other post). It is alive and it sings. Like there’s something about the kitchen that is always humming as if there’s a old cook’s soul down there or something. Really large. Steam everywhere. The smell of spices wafting. Nesta “accidentally” charms the plates and silverware (think fantasia) but that’s a story for another time. This is another place that juts out in certain areas to have a lot of windows. Not the whole place but quite a bit of it. Think a kitchen that’s alive. 

The library stays the same, because Nesta loves that library and it’s perfect the way it is. <3.
