I've been thinking about recurring themes and motifs in my nightmares throughout the years lately (free analysis material), and I'm curious as to what other people would identify as their default brain horror!

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

#uh just a heads up if you expand the tags to see all there's. a lot. very long#amphibian#frog#poison dart frog#based on my most popular frog to date (day 651)#inspired by everyone pointing out what they think it looks like#here's a fun secret fact the original guy is actually a phantasmal poison dart frog (Epipedobates tricolor)#(according to the original artists title of the drawing)#not Anthony's poison arrow frog (Epipedobates anthonyi)#i feel too awkward to really point it out though because they look the exact same. i cannot tell if there is a difference#im half convinced the same frog was just discovered and named twice#its very curious btw if you go on the (english) wikipedia page for either species it doesn't mention the other#while hereptiles.info (no idea if this is a trustworthy site) lists both names as common names for the same frog (incorrectly??)#while inaturalist lists them as two different frogs. curiously with tricolor having wayyyyy fewer photos#ok anyway that's my rant i went on a whole journey trying to figure out if these are the same frog or not and i have no answer#i did some more 'research' and i am more confused. some sources seem to imply they are now considered the same species ( e. tricolor)#i think my conclusion is i am willing to agree the drawing looks more like e. anthonyi. it seems like tricolor is generally less vibrant re#and the white is darker and more green?#i feel like thumblr should stop me from typing more in the tags at this point this is a whole essay#at this point i am failry convinced this is specifically the Santa Isabel frog. isthat the real subspecies or morph or whatever#or just the name pet sites are using to sell it??#i even found some sources (frog selling websites) refering to it as “Epipedobates Anthonyi 'Santa Isabel' Phantasmal Poison Dart Frog” lol#Anyways if you read this far hi. species are confusing. i am not a frog scientist#the first few tags are like an hour old now i just kept trying to figure it out and adding more tags

Nothing like motiving myself to practice drawing kisses from reference by making the final results feature my FEH girlies.
#Fun facts I don't post most of the art I make#Most of my Fire Emblem stuff has been drawing for more educational purposes#This one is no exception#Very often I will take a reference from Pinterest and directly insert FE characters into that image#It a.) helps motivate my study of human forms and b.) lets me study the design conventions of FEH specifically#It was so far from my comfort zone that studying it helped me break through some art habits I had at the time#Now it's much more familiar and I can draw the main four without reference pretty consistently. Thinking about how the Tower & the Adversary routes are connected through the Fury, and how you kind of get there by turning one into the other, and how horrified they are by what they become. Tower is about subjugation - she outright says she does not believe the two of you are on equal footing. You get the Fury from her when you assert your independence and fight back, forcing her to take you seriously as a threat and defend herself. Adversary is all about an equal fight - she prides herself on her strength, but also admires yours. You access the Fury through her by refusing to fight, watching her beat you to a pulp and become disgusted by what she does to you. IDK it is interesting how the Tower & Adversary parallel one another, and how you end up with the Fury in each route by doing what their sister route would have wanted you to do.
#i have no idea if the last sentence makes sense here lol#slay the princess#stp#the adversary#the tower#the fury#ive just been thinking about these guys a lot#in part just bc fury is a fascinating route to me (im very glad she's getting expanded upon)#& while tower's probably my least favorite route i still think about her a lot. i have a lot of thoughts about tower#but also 'sacrifice the yourself' has me thinking about how the princesses might feel about each other#& while i kinda concluded tower would dismiss all of the other vessels as 'insults' to her existence#i kind of started thinking about how much adversary (who loves an equal fight) would HATE playing the tower route lmao#idk it's a shame these guys get less attention compared to the 'nicer' princesses bc the ways they connect are really interesting#honestly im also curious about apotheosis bc id like to see her turn around how some ppl feel about tower#actually final addition to these long tags -#i think part of the tower hate comes from how frustrating it can be to play#(my first time through i was struggling to figure out what to do bc of the options being taken away)#and partially bc broken is a lot of ppl's least favorite voice#but *I* didn't mind broken. he got a few laughs out of me#my least favorite voice is cold
