Law gulped heavily, watching as the tiny, oh-so-tiny piece of paper moved weakly across his palm, getting smaller with every second as the edges burned more and more. There was barely anything left. Barely enough to hang onto any hope. “What are you doing?” Law growled, but he could barely hear himself. There was a hum in his ears, a white noise that didn’t mean anything, didn’t serve any purpose but to drive him even more mad. He refused to believe this. The paper had to be lying. There was simply no way, no way that Luffy lost. No way that his life was about to disappear, leaving behind nothing but a few specks of ash.

Are Not:

Methods of interaction with demons.

Avenues of confusion and spiritual decay.

You cannot entertain, both, light and darkness; for, they are completely incompatible, at their very core. To believe otherwise, is to hold an idea of God, quite antithetical to that, which is presented in the Bible.

One of Eddie’s favorite pastimes is listening to Steve’s phone conversations with their college-aged daughters.

All three of their kids are very smart – way smarter than either of them. Getting the older two into college had been a total cinch and it’s looking like it’ll be just as easy with their youngest. 

The thing is, just because their kids are goddamn brilliant doesn't absolve them from the occasional lapse in common sense. When that occurs, Steve usually gets a phone call, and those phone calls are the highlights of Eddie's day by a mile.

Steve gets a phone call this time because Moe has a doctor’s appointment that she is going to all by herself for the first time ever. 

Apparently, the paperwork is causing some strife.

“And just think,” Steve is saying idly when Eddie walks in, “You could’a gone to Wellesley College instead and had us with you for this shit.”

Eddie can’t hear Moe’s response, but he has a feeling that this comment did not go over well with their oldest daughter.

After a moment, Steve’s eyebrows fly up.

“Yeah, Moe, where it says social security number you should write your social security number…” he pauses, listening to Moe again, “You don’t know what it is? How do you not know what it is?”

“Steve, I’m begging you to put this on speaker,” Eddie laughs.

“Go get Moe’s soc card,” he hisses in return, “I don’t know it either.”

“You fuckin’ hypocrite,” he replies even as he heads for the office where they keep all that shit.

By the time he’s returning, Steve has the call on speaker and he hears Moe ask, “Have I ever worked as a machinist?”

“No,” Steve tells her.

“What about when I operated the ski lifts at the mountain? That’s a machine.”

“Doesn’t count.”

“Okay…have I ever had a hysterectomy?”

“That’s kind of a one and done thing, I think, and no, you haven’t.”

“Have I ever had an injury to the eye involving a metallic object?”

“Moe, you can’t be serious.”

“What if I did and I just don’t remember!” she protests.

“Jesus Christ,” Eddie shakes his head, “And these kids are supposed to be intelligent.”

Before Steve can respond to either of them, Moe says, "Wait – do you think I should have written my name as Lucy instead of Moe?"

"Uh, yeah," Steve replied, sounding utterly baffled as Eddie howled with laughter.

"Hey!" Moe protests, "This is not my fault! That's totally on you for naming me one thing and then calling me something completely different my entire fucking life!"

(And she's kind of right, Eddie can't help but think).

synopsis: a wealthy French-Japanese student by the name of Kokone enrolls in the CV trio's school, and tries to rope them into starring in a new commercial for her family's chocolate company. meanwhile, the Canine Bandits Dex and Daina sneak into the production looking to kidnap Kokone for their own ends.

When talking about Boothill's drink order in 2.6, like. Hoyo could have just glossed it over and described it as "a few" or "several" drinks. They didn't bother to program in the actual glasses or anything- it's not like any of us were gonna count them and notice if they put in the wrong amount.

But they specifically chose the number seven, and if it IS just coincidence, it is a very very fun one.

Hsr is also known to make tarot card references- we had the online event shortly before Penacony's release, I'm pretty sure there's at least a couple simulated universe occurrences and a curio, and then Black Swan's Everything.

The Seven of Cups is a card about dreams and making choices when you have multiple options it front of you. It represents resisting self-deception and false dreams, and not letting yourself be charmed by hallucinations. It is a warning to carefully consider what is real vs what is not, which is very important in Penacony as a whole, being the land of sweet dreams, and it becomes relevant to Boothill later, when Primon starts to fuck with his head.

It can also represent someone who is "deep in their cups," which is a more polite way to refer to someone who uses alcohol as a coping mechanism to an unhealthy amount.

I hate that this could be a serious comment on Boothill being an alcoholic to cope with how much horrifying trauma he's experienced...and I have to discuss it looking at Primon's ridiculous fucking face fjkdslajldk

The overall message of the card is to stand fast, keep a clear head, and make your decision. Which suits Boothill beautifully even outside of this patch, since he is the very picture of ruthlessness and straightforwardness- he is able to see that bright clear line between action and result, and he follows it doggedly! Everything he does, he does wholeheartedly and decisively! And we see it especially well when he fights through the partial regression Primon leads him into!

Straight and clear and sure as a bullet, baby!!!

chapter 19 was one of the most episodes of all time

i like to think the tsv finale is set in autumn. it's a season of change and ultimately death, which is reflected in numerous untimely demises. everything is falling apart and you can see it in the world around you. carpenter finds her brother and she lays him by the river and maybe, when spring comes, better things will grow there. val will set alight and it will be a fire to match the burning leaves. paige will transform, and it will take time and pain, but flowers will bloom once it has passed. the peninsula and the cls are and have taken massive losses and are yet to rebuild, though we know it will happen. autumn is ultimately a season of hope becuase its the assurance that though everything is currently in the process of destruction there will be something better that is yet to come, and doesn't that encapsulate the finale so well? i think it'd be fitting for a show so full of parallels.

Travis hates Christmas.

Okay, that's not entirely accurate. It's not so much that he hates it. Better to say it's not a holiday he particularly enjoys. True, the WORST holiday for him is Thanksgiving - his mother's relentless criticism of him unceasing - but Christmas carries a similar vibe.

As an officer of the law, he's had to deal with some of the more heart-wrenching crimes around Christmas and then had to turn around only to witness his family's merriment from the outside looking in. Mainly because Chris had a family of his own, with a wife and kids and things he could never have.

Or rather, things he wanted, but lost. In that first year after Laura disappeared, he'd actually been stupid enough to buy her a present. He hasn't told her this, and he doesn't want to, because it's embarrassing and sure to ignite pity within her.

Mainly because it's so pitiful. The fact he actually went out and got a gift for the first girl he loved and lost and thought maybe, just maybe, would come back. Or that he'd find. Or whatever idiotic thing he had thought back then.
