Hobie repeated the numbers in his head over and over again as he crawled towards the entrance of the facility, terrified of setting off one of the alarms. It'd taken weeks of research and spying for you to get him the code, and he knew that if he messed it up, he wouldn't get another chance like this.
889376
Hobie lowered himself from the ceiling, hanging upside down in front of the keypad as he slowly inputted the numbers, being careful not to get one wrong. He felt his heart stop as silence fell.
The door made a quiet whirring noise, before unlocking and opening itself for him. He breathed out a soft sigh, taking a deep breath before silently entering.
Why was he breaking and entering into a multi-million dollar science lab that was heavily guarded by some of the greatest security systems in the nation? Because you'd told him to.
Just a month ago, you and the rest of his gang had received intel regarding the V.E.N.O.M soldier that Osborne used to wreak havoc on the city. Although you'd all already known that whatever powered them wasn't exactly...from this world...you still had no idea how to stop them.
That's where this heist came in.
Hobie believed that if he was able to steal the data situated in the lab, he'd be able to learn more about the V.E.N.O.M. soldiers...and hopefully figure out how to defeat them. It was a smart plan, but one that would prove difficult to carry out.
That's how he ended up here. Crawling along the length of the ceiling while examining the inside of the room that, according to his blueprints, would contain the data he needed. He dropped himself down onto the ground, crouching slightly as he approached what looked like a large glass cell.
It reminded him of a terrarium almost, something that was meant to cage those that could easily escape. In this case, 'those' stood for whatever was powering those soldiers. What was it? He wasn't sure.
All he knew was that this was the original. Where Osborne took his inspiration from, the thing that paved the way for the V.E.N.O.M. technology he used to terrorize the city today. See, Osborne's super-soldiers didn't actually use the original power source. They used a synthetic version of it, created by some of Oscorp's finest scientists, forced to perform a nearly impossible feat with a tight deadline.
But they'd done it. They'd duplicated whatever was in that cell. And now...it was Hobie's turn to find out what exactly this power source was.
As Hobie approached the glass, he could hear a slight squelching sound, so quiet that it was barely audible. Where was it coming from? He peered into the cage, hand pressed flat against the cold exterior. He couldn't see anything.
For a moment, he wanted to open the cage, maybe take a look inside, but he thought against it. There was nothing there. Could they have moved it? He cursed under his breath. Their intel wasn't exactly up-to-date...there was a chance that the power source had been moved.
Biting back his frustration, he turned his attention towards the large computer sitting on the desk next to the cell, pulling up the keyboard and glancing down at the messy scribbles on his wrist. The prewritten bypass codes, in permanent black ink, stood out against his dark skin, just legible enough for him to input them without making a mistake.
He began to scroll through the contents of the computer, pulling out a flash drive from his pocket and stabbing it into the side, the upload beginning almost immediately. While he waited for the files to load, he walked back towards the cell, hands in his pockets.
The small screen on the side of the door had begun to flash, little red warning signs appearing. He clicked past them and a page with graphs and charts opened up with a beep. He squinted slightly as he attempted to read the writing.
Beep
No Host Detected
Host?
Beep
Symbiote Pheromone Levels Spiking
Symbiote?
Hobie furrowed his brows in confusion, trying to click on the page again to make it larger. Instead, his finger accidentally brushed against the open button.
Beep
Are you sure?
The warning message popped up. Hobie hesitated for a moment, glancing back into the cell. He pressed 'yes'.
The door to the cage made a quiet whirring noise before it slowly opened, allowing Hobie to cautiously step onto the white tile inside. He could feel his spider-sense acting up, but he couldn't see anything. He entered the cell fully, hands up defensively as he looked around. And then he saw it.
Beep
Host detected.
On the floor in front of him was what looked like...a glob? It was jet black, and he could make out some slight ripples on the surface of it's skin (skin??) that shined when the light from the bright bulbs on the ceiling hit them in just the right place. It was slowly approaching him, not slithering or crawling like an animal, but extending itself out and pulling itself forward.
Hobie was taken aback by the sight, in such shock that he barely even noticed how much his spider sense was flaring up. He stared at it and it stared back up at him. When he tilted his head to the right slightly, it tilted its body the same way, as if it was mimicking him.
Hobie didn't know whether to laugh or run away.
"Unauthorized entrance"
He snapped his head back as he heard the robotic voice sound over the speakers, alerting the entirety of the building of his presence. His heart dropped. "Fuck" He muttered under his breath, shooting one last glance at the glob before walking back towards the door of the cell. He almost didn't notice it latch onto his boot.
"Wot the-" He let out a small yelp as he saw it crawling up his boot. He attempted to kick it off, and it fell to the ground, but instead of trying to crawl towards him again, it pushed itself back slightly. Hobie looked at it amusedly for a moment before a chill ran up his spine in realization. It was acting like an animal. An animal about to strike.
It pounced towards him, faster than he could react. He tried to dodge out of the way, but it extended itself out, something Hobie'd never seen before, and it latched onto him, forcing him to stumble and fall onto his back. He sat up quickly, eyes wide with fear as it began to climb up his chest.
He tried to pull it off, grunting with exertion, but it was too late. Hobie watched in horror as the symbiote sunk into him.
"He's in there!"
He didn't have time for this.
Ignoring the fact that the so-called symbiote had disappeared, Hobie jumped up onto the ceiling, sticking onto the rough surface and heading towards the vents he came through earlier. The guards entered and aimed their guns at the ceiling, but he was already gone, having climbed through the vent without a trace.

"A symbiote?" You asked, folding your arms over your chest as you leaned back in your chair. He nodded in response, fidgeting with his fingers nervously. "What the hell is a symbiote?"
"I don't know. It's probably where the tech came from. 's the original V.E.N.O.M. mech. Or at leas', it looked like V.E.N.O.M. mech." He replied, bouncing his leg up and down.
The two of your were sitting in the living room of his canal boat, going over the contents of the flash drive that he'd just barely escaped with. He'd been able to download most of the files, but they needed an encryption code to access, which neither of you knew. The whole heist had ended up being a waste...except for the fact that he said he saw the original mech.
"What do you mean it looked like the V.E.N.O.M. mech?" You asked confusedly, tilting your head at him. "Was it not the same?"
"No." He shook his head and put his hand against his face, nibbling on his fingernails. "It was this weird...gooey...stuff." He said awkwardly.
You pushed his hand away from his mouth. "Don't do that. Are you okay? You seem nervous." He looked up at your concerned face and his expression softened slightly. "I'm fine. Jus' still on edge." he said quickly, shoving his hands in the pockets of his vest.
"Look, tha' symbiote thing did something. It kind of-" he cringed, knowing that your response wasn't going to be positive, "-latched onto me."
You froze. "What."
"It melted. It melted on top of me, an' then it jus' disappeared. Like I absorbed it or somethin'" he said quietly, his fingers moving back towards his mouth.
"Why would you go near it?" You asked, shock spreading through your body. "Are you insane?"
"I didn't know it would do tha'!" He voice turned defensive as he leaned back slightly, eyebrows furrowed in frustration. "I didn't even know it was there! It just appeared out o' nowhere!"
"Okay, okay" you put your hands up to calm him down, or more to calm yourself down. "How do you feel? Did it...change anything?"
He stayed silent for a moment, thinking it over. "I feel great actually."
You raised your eyebrows. "Really?" You asked curiously.
"Yeah. I mean, I'm a bit nervous but that's just 'cause I almost got caught." He stood up, stretching his arms out, a smile appearing on his face as he realized that he was in fact feeling much better. "I feel amazin'"
"Amazing?"
He ignored you and jumped up, sticking his hand to the ceiling. "Huh. I didn't even realize 'til now."
"Okay, let's not jump ahead. We still need to figure out where that thing went." You said, gesturing for him to sit back down. "Did you really just...absorb it?"
He wasn't paying attention to you. He was looking down at his hands weirdly, inspecting them as he stayed sticking to the ceiling. "Hobie!" He looked back at you. "Yea?"
"Can you sit back down?"
"Yes ma'am." He unlatched himself from the ceiling and plopped back down onto the couch. He looked down at himself curiously before glancing back towards you. "You don' think that thing attaching itself t' me is gonna change my powers, do you?"
"Why do you think that?" you asked, eyes widening slightly as you thought about that idea. What if?
"Well, if it's the original V.E.N.O.M. tech, it should act like the tech Ozzy's groupies use, right? Maybe I could use that-"
"No."
"Wot?" He looked at you confusedly. "What do you mean, no?"
"We are not planning another riot when you haven't even figured out what that thing's done to you, Hobes." You said with an eye roll. "You're taking this too easy."
He gave you one of those starboy grins of his. "Come off it, I'm Spider-Man, remember? I'll be fine. Might as well put this t' good use." He said with a wink.
"Put what to use? You don't even know what that thing's doing to you-"
"I'll figure it out along the way." he interrupted, leaning back with a smile. You smacked your forehead in annoyance while he gave you an amused look. "'s cute that you care about me so much-"
"Don't. Even. Start."
"Alright, alright" he put his hands up defensively. "I'm jus' messing with ya."
You gave him another glance. "Are you sure you feel okay?" You tried one last time.
"Peachy."
"Fine." You grumbled, standing up and heading towards the kitchen. "You want something to eat?" You asked, opening the fridge and peering inside.
He followed you, leaning against the counter as he watched from behind. "I'll have a yogurt or something."
You squinted. "I don't think we have yogurt."
"It's right there." he said, vaguely gesturing towards the contents of the fridge.
"Where?"
"Here, jus' let me-" He pointed his hand to towards you, attempting to shoot a web towards the fridge. Suddenly, instead of a web coming out of his wrist like usual, something else appeared.
You watched in horror as his arm turned black and extended towards the fridge, grabbing onto the yogurt before pulling it back. You looked at Hobie and he looked equally as confused, staring down at the container in his hand in shock.
"What the fuck was that?!" You exclaimed, taking a step back.
"I-I don't know!" He replied back, his voice just as high-pitched and nervous as yours was. He held his hand in from of him like it was a weapon, pointing it out. "Tha's new..."
"NO SHIT?!"
"Don't yell at me!" He said, eyes wide.
"What was that thing?!"
"I don't know! Maybe it came from-" his jaw dropped. "You don't think-"
"The symbiote." You both whispered together. "I don't remember V.E.N.O.M. soldiers being able to do that" You said nervously. "Well, it is the original...it probably has some different abilities?" He asked, obviously trying to play it off.
You stared at each other in silence. "You know wot? It's fine." he said, opening up the yogurt container. You watched him in shock. "Are you mental?" You asked, approaching him, throwing your hands up in the air. "How are you okay with this?"
"Well what else am I supposed to do? I don't know how t' get this thing out!" he said defensively, mouth full of yogurt. "I'll figure it out later. I'm hungry." He mumbled, shoveling another spoonful into his mouth as he looked away.
What the hell?
Why was he acting so weird? You'd have never expected him to be okay with some weird gooey alien controlling his body. And since when did he like yogurt?!?
"You're hungry?"
He nodded in response, tossing the empty container into the trash and sifting through the items in the fridge as he searched for another item to attack. His eyes landed on a bag of...frozen shrimp.
He pulled it out curiously, putting it near his face. "What is this?" He asked, looking at it as though he was on the brink of starvation. "...frozen shrimp?" you replied cautiously. "Don't tell me you're gonna ea-"
It was too late. He'd already opened the bag and was crunching on the pieces as if they were chips. "Hobie!" You exclaimed, jaw dropping as you watched him. "What are you-" You stopped yourself, barely able to process what you were seeing.
He just shrugged in response. "I'm hungry."
"FOR FROZEN SHRIMP?!?"
"It smells good!"
His ears perked up and he put the bag down, as if he'd heard something. "Do you hear tha'?" He asked, walking towards the window near the two of you.
"Hear what?"
He pressed his ear to the glass of the window. "Someone needs my help."
"How-"
"I gotta go. Spider-man duties." he interrupted, taking another handful of shrimp in his hand before he grabbed his mask off the couch.
"What are you-"
"See you later, love!"
"Hobie-!"
And just like that, he was gone without another word, swinging off into the distance, faster that he usually did.
Strange.
You stared into the distance, still trying to process what'd just happened. You couldn't help but feel as though something was off. I mean...obviously something was off, but there was this feeling in the pit of your stomach that made it seem as though something far, far worse was going to happen.
It was best not to dwell on it. The best thing for you to do right now was to figure out the encryption code for that damn flash drive. Only then would you be able to figure out what that symbiote really was. And what it could be doing.
End of Part 1.

"Star commander be advised- these savashri mercenaries have a something fast." Star Commander Dalen's radio crackled to life with the sound of Mechwarrior Kaeli. "Ah! They have me outflanked and my ammunition is exposed."
"Aff. You are still mobile, quiaff?" Dalen shot back. He was approaching their objective, a planetary relay station, and he could see a Hunchback lurking in the trees on the hill overlooking it. It would have to go first. Kaeli responded with a simple affirmstive burst of static. "Finish your mission, open the compound. I will deal with your flanker in time."
Kaeli shot forward, her Fire Falcon carrying her over the outcropping the relay was protected by and well into range of the high explosive payload her advanced tactical missiles carried. As her missile barrage disintegrated the concrete bunker and exposed the communications equipment inside, she was met with a hail of PPCs and missiles from the remainder of the mercenary lance while the hunchback stepped out of its cover to clear a better shot. The Class 20 spoke, and Kaeli squacked over the comms link before the cluster munition tore through the containment of the Falcon's fusion reactor and rendered the mech dead in a bright burst of escaping plasma.
"Geoff, pin the Hunchback." Dalen said as he kicked his Incubus into running gear. "The surat has left his rear exposed!"
"Aff, Star Commander." His remaining subordinate responded and a barrage of flickering green lasers lanced out from the woods behind him.
It was only once Dalen had repositioned and began unloading into the Hunchback that he realized his miscalculation. The mercenary Awesome that had been holding its fire stepped to the tree line and unleashed a storm of man-made lightning across the field at his mech. Only two of the particle beams connected, but it was still enough to severely strip his light mech. Then Kaeli's fast mover arrived.
It vaulted over the hill in a jumping burst of speed, long thrust vectoring wings extended. It was painted in lurid shades of purple and green, similarly mismatched with the rest of the ad-hoc mercenary company. Dalen's targetting system registered it as some sort of heavy Spider variant as it landed in his own rear arc and the three pulse lasers in its torso dug through the dueling mech's delicate rear armor and ripped two thirds of the containment shielding from his engine. To Dalen's further dismay, the Hunchback in front of him began to turn, its armor gouged and stripped, but its guns entirely functional.
Dalen gritted his teeth- the fight was lost and his own mech was disabled enough that retreat was unlikely. All that was left would be honoring Jade Falcon by taking as many of the savashri with him as possible.

Ok Peni Parker’s age is definitely up to interpretation,(4year differential)simply because of her og suit in ITSV. We don’t(not that I remember)see it in the comics. That means, to an extent, this is not the same Peni Parker as the comics. (as with most of the spiders) But I still think a lot of the same events happen. For instance, her canon event that had her so sad in ATSV was most likely still the VEN#m suit with Addy Brock and May.
Timeline:
In the comics at age 9 she takes her fathers place to pilot the SP//dr Suit and joins spiderverse/spidergeddon at age 14. After spiderverse is when M.O.R.B.I.U.S. and VEN#m happen. Then she is recruited to spidergeddon again.
Following this timeline, she was probably 12/13 in the first movie(a case could be made for 11), making her 13/14 in the new movie with the 16 mo. jump.

Researching Characters So You Don't Have To Part 5 - What was Peni Parker's Canon Event?
Tumblr media
In ATSV, we get a short glimpse of Peni Parker during Miguel's canon event explainy scene. She, along with hundreds of other spider-people enter in order to help keep Miles calm and share their own experiences with him. The only thing she says is "Miles" and she kind of tilts her head at him sadly.
If we compare this version of Peni to the version we saw in the first movie, it makes it very obvious that she went through some kind of traumatic event, probably her canon event.
So what was her canon event?
From the research I've done, I've found that her canon event is a little confusing, but I tried to make it as clear as possible.
After the events of Into the Spider-verse, Peni was approached by her classmate, Addy Brock, during class. Addy proceeded to ask her whether she was Spider-woman (or in her universe, Sp//dr). Peni brushed her off, and left without telling her. But what Peni didn't know, was that Addy was also a mech pilot, and was actually the owner of a special suit called VEN#m.
Note: Peni Parker's suit was created by Oscorp. Oscorp also used the Sym Engine which was used to create Peni's mech to create the VEN#m mech and chose Addy Brock to pilot it because of her psychological connection to it.
Now later, Peni has to fight M.O.R.B.I.U.S. but is defeated and captured by him, leading to Addy Brock's VEN#m mech being deployed to help her. During the fight, the VEN#m suit lost control and Peni had to take it down using her Sp//dr mech.
Addy and Peni's Aunt May tried to fix the VEN#m suit, but it was too late. The suit went completely crazy and took over Addy's mind, assimilated her body with cables and tendrils. When Aunt May tried to intervene, it consumed her.
Peni's canon event is completely based off the Evangelion Units 01 and 03 from the Neon Genesis Evangelion series.
Pretty sad :(

Today I figured I'd rant about a mech that's dangerously, frustratingly close to being good. In the winter of 3049 as the Clan Invasion crashed into the Draconis Combine, Coordinator Takashi Kurita demanded the Combine's remaining manufacturing bases make good the losses the DCMS had suffered fighting again the extra-spheroid invaders. Enter one Nimakachi Fusion Products Limited, a Free Worlds based dropship and light battlemech manufacturer with a significant presence in Combine space. Nimakachi ramped up their Spider production lines significantly to meet the DCMS's demand for new mechs, but the company also saw an opportunity to expand and produce a new design in-house that would serve as a more combat oriented version of the venerable jumping scout mech. To that end, they designed the Venom
5 tons heavier than it's original inspiration and model code namesake, the SDR-9K Venom is an attempt to answer a fairly frustrating problem posed by newly discovered lostech- namely the range issues of inner sphere pulse lasers. With half the range of their clantech equivalents, ISPLs end up frequently underperforming even their standard counterparts at anything more than absolute shoved-down-your-throat, see-the-whites-of-the-enemy-mech-pilot's-eyes ranges. Now, Namikachi clearly decided that made them perfect for attaching to their bulked up Spider chassis, using its impressively quick 8/12/8 speed to rapidly close and find chinks in the enemy's armor before jumping away to cover. Unfortunately, despite their extensive use of lostech in their new mech's design, NFPL appears to have poached a couple of engineers from Luthien Armor Works, because when they were building a cooling system for the Venom they chose to sabotage their new design with three words: single heat sinks.
Tumblr media
Reader, the SDR-9K builds 16 heat on an alpha strike, 24 if it jumps, and every turn it sinks 12. A venom pilot must choose to either seriously expose herself for at least one turn every time they fire their weapons (something she's unlikely to do, considering the mech's paltry 3.5 tons of armor), or more likely spend 2 or 3 turns away from the fight every time they dive in for a strike simply cooling off as they jump around. Attemping to find a bright spot here- the weapons all being located in the center torso makes the design reasonably handy as a light fist fighter, meaning that even when it's blazing hot it still has some means of defending itself up close between dives at someone's rear torsos.
Despite this serious cooling flaw, a mix of the DCMS's existing homicidal tendencies towards its pilots, the efficacy of the Venom as both a rapid response and hit and run platform with low maintenance costs, and likely a healthy does of 'any port in a storm' mentality, the Combine was elated with the design and ordered them by the company in 3050 as pirate interdiction mechs on the fringes of their territory.
Tumblr media
Now, despite the deeply troubled original design, the Venom does have some variants that might make it better, so let's run those down really quick. The SDR-9KA takes out one of the torso lasers and replaces it with two tons of armor. While no longer capable of delivering a PSR on its own, this variant does beat the original at least *somewhat* in heat management while also being able to take a PPC/Clan Large Laser to any component before needing to take a crit check.
Tumblr media
The SDR-KB is more of the same, but it lowers the heat load even further by adding in a 13th heat sink (yay!), pulling 2 of the jump jets (boo!), and replacing a pulse laser with a machine gun, a ton of ammo, and a ton of extra armor. While this does mean we finally have a variant capable of firing all its guns and moving without burning out the pilot, the presence of the massive torso bomb in conjunction with the slower air speed and thin armor means that this variants staying power is likely wasted in most engagements where it will be more easily disabled or killed.
Tumblr media
Finally, because it's a Combine adjacent design, we have the SDR-9KC which is a c3 design. Similar to the 9KA, it pulls a pulse laser for some extra weight to play with, as well as upgrading the chassis to endosteel to make room for the telemetry computer. Unfortunately the cuts don't end there, as Namikachi's mech also pulled out one of the mech's precious double heat heat sinks for even more additional armor. Wait, double heat sinks? Hallelujah yes! Someone finally made the really obvious choice and gave the Venom proper freezers, meaning after 16 years it's finally capable of regularly firing all its guns and jumping. The final 7 tons of armor means the 9KC is also surprisingly tough for its speed and weight, capable of shrugging off most weapons short of a gauss rifle to any off its components with armor left to spare.
Sarna tells me there's another variant, the 9KE, which is armed with an ER laser, ER flamer, mine and remote sensor dispensers, and a partial wing, but Flechs doesn't have a nice sheet for it and dark age tech scares and confuses me. If you want a kooky little scout for your missile carrier company that can annoy attackers with mined roads, this might be it but YMMV.
Tumblr media
Despite my ragging on it, I quite like the Venom as a design and an idea. Pulse laser jumpy boys are a favorite niche design type of mine, and when given the cooling they need to succeed, they can be fairly menacing little bastards. It also just looks plain cool with the pointy Ming the Merciless-esque shoulder bads and vectoring fins. With even the 9KC coming in comfortably well under 900 bv, they're cheap additions to the cavalry/exploitation arms of your lances to run alongside things like Wolverines and their bigger brother, the Wraith. Definitely worth a try at keast once if you own a Spider and play in Civil War or later!

More of @keferon's Empurata!Prowl... below the cut's some writing I redacted to keep short, heheh. Yep, the lyrics in the song are again from Kairiki Bear's song Venom. (the energon from wounds is meant to be pink. hekkin lighting makes everything look red..]
"Prowl.. Prowl, hey!" Jazz's optics widened when he saw the mech hunched over in front of him, looking almost pitifully at the ground.
"Oh, Primus, what did you do..?" Kneeling, Jazz tried to take a look at Prowl's-... his... what was left of his helm. He winced internally when he saw the scratches that had been scored down the top, down the sides..
..the wounds were fresh, still. Dripping energon, and for a while given the size of the puddles on the floor.
"Prowler.. c'mon.. look at me." Warily, the mech reached a servo forward. Slowly, carefully.. so that Prowl knew it was him, and not one of them. Not a threat.
Thankfully, today wasn't one of the nightmare days.
And Prowl leaned forward, pressing his helm into Jazz's servos. Jazz closed his optics under his visor, willing himself not to lose it on the spot, because this was Prowl and they broke him. They broke him.
"Easy.. yeah, there we go." Jazz sat on the floor of the little room they'd given Prowl. Reinforced, so he wouldn't hurt himself or any others. The mech in front of Jazz didn't even flinch when he tried to wipe away the stains of energon.
"Heh.. that's it. There's my Prowler." Jazz murmured as Prowl let him clean, as he pulled a cloth from his subspace. He was good with pain. Always was. And he always knew when Jazz was trying to help.
"You're still in there.. aren't you?" Prowl looked into Jazz's optics, burning red meeting pale energon-blue. Jazz's tanks tightened with emotion when Prowl reached forward, placing one of his claws on Jazz's stabilizer.
It's you. It is you.
Please.. please, Prowler... ..Let it be you.

Ok so, Its my nth time talking about d-16 and orion/megatron and optimus. But LIKE WAIT, apart from the last interaction they share. Okay okay listen so. Apart from spitting out "This isn't over... Prime..." In such a venomous and contemptful way at him, we also have to remember he was not only feeling betrayed just seconds ago at Optimus banishing him, but he also renounced the Primes out of his blind anger prior to Optimus' resurrection. In that moment, they are at their weakest, Megatron more so literally as he limps away, and Optimus as he stands there to ponder on what to do now. What now that he's lost his guidance, his friend since he ever took to the mines, slaving days away for a promised future built around a lie that neither of them could have ever seen coming. But now that they have, the separate ways they now take is only gripping him then and there. Even after a fight to a mere surrender, after victorious over Megatron, his victory feels hollow. He lost so much more than a friend that day.
Tumblr media
It hits hard with the contrast of their goodbyes. Megatron is still angered and blinded, confused even but holding it in why Optimus betrayed his vision. He can't understand that its his own selfishness underneath the true intention to break free from the oppression he's experienced for so long that when he finally has the power to change that, he lets it get to his head. And that can be felt in that simple yet tired; "This isn't over... Prime..." He's as angry as he is emotionally hurt by it all. He's hurt and so he wants Optimus to feel the hurt, its a twisted way of him calling out to what they once shared, to tell Orion he's doing something stupid again under all that harsh wording. He's distanced himself from the bot he once knew, Orion. The one who was so great and nerdy, so curious about their past. The one he covered for whenever the authorities had business with him, the one who brought him things because he knew he'd like them. Megatronus fanboy and all that, Orion knew what D-16 wanted. And he wanted him to see, they could aim for their own wants together. Now he is nothing more than a memory, somebody he used to know, somebody Megatron has to let go of and renounce as well. Optimus Prime. Speaking of Optimus... He's as gentle as he is stern in that moment. No degrading, no malice in his tone, just regret and sorrow. He simply states the facts as is, the gravity of Megatron's actions that day, and a nudging reminder of who he is to Megatron. A reminder he isn't like Sentinel, that he is a Prime who has proven to make a difference. A Prime who has died for Megatron. The saying "I'll love you till the day that I die" no longer applies because he will always carry that love within him, a love that outweighs the guilt he feels for inadvertently getting in Megatron's way. The day his best friend died, the day D-16 became Megatron. And so he tells him perhaps out of that same guilt and for consolation to take the High Guard with him, he knows how loneliness can be so crippling. He knows Megatron wants to be with like-minded mechs, so he lets him go softly. He breaks it to him in the gentlest way he can, no threats. No time to think about what to do next as he forlornly watches a friend drive away. Honestly? I think TF: One MEGOP as a relationship is summarized by a bunch of mitski lyrics glued together in scrapbook fashion, a little worn around in some parts. Might have some uneven cuttings on the side, a torn corner of a page here and there. But you can tell behind all that, it was made with love. There was deep history to it, and the fact its still maintained means someone's holding onto those pages, someone still wants to remember and hope for what once was to come back to them. Maybe it's Optimus, maybe it's Megatron. Maybe it'll hurt more if they find out both of them still want it, yet can never quite piece it back the way they wanted it to be. It hurts because you can see even without the romantic undertones, these two deeply cared for each other. Shared each other's burdens, conflicting ideas about how to change the world might have put a little dent in their relationship, but everything afterward boiled inside D-16. He was a kettle overflowing and Orion didn't realize it until it was too late.

Note
There's so many variations of "Things about Humans/Things Humans do that gross/creep out the Transformers". What would they find interesting about humans that we may not necessarily think much of? Hair is definitely up there I'd say.
That humans can't see their own stripes since they are only visible under ultraviolet light.
They're called Blaschko lines, and they're as unique as fingerprints. They can be visible with skin disorders.
Tumblr media
Some people can figure out their pattern if they have a tendency to freckle from sunlight. Others claim they figured theirs out by following mole placement.
So Cybertronians would be absolutely fascinated by humans walking around with their markings and completely boggled that they can't see them. At one point, they thought flannel, zebra stripes, cheetah print, and other fun patterns were some sort of fashion statement along with their Blaschko lines. Cybertronians thought it was abstract art that delighted some and infuriated others because of incongruent matches.
Hair wouldn't be too strange to them as long, thin strands of wires were a fashion statement and a status symbol at some points. It's just that human 'fur' doesn't fulfill its primary function of warmth. It's the secondary functions that humans fuss over. Some hairstyles are absolutely wild to them, like the pouf style of Marie Antoinette's era with ships and bird cages with live specimens.
Cybertronians are rightfully concerned over humanity's collective urge to adopt dangerous fauna as pets or to keep in their household. Canines and felines are popular, but so are reptiles, arachnids, avians, and sea predators. Humans have no fangs, claws, or exoskeleton, but they feel compelled to take poisonous, venomous, and/or proficient hunters into their arms.
Humanity's history of agriculture and culinary explorations are multi-tiered mental fuckery mazes. It brought many mechs to tears trying to trace the impact of the cabbage family across the world. Fungi is another field that the less is delved into, the better their mental health. (Who!? Who the Pits came up with Hákarl!?)
What's really fascinating about human biology is just how resilient they can be. Sure, they can squish one with their foot, but humans manage to figure out how to survive without major organs with medical intervention, which is far more metal than some other organic species they deal with. What's really gross-curious is the extent, like how a bone graft will attempt to match the skeleton of its new host or how their resiliency can backfire with medical conditions, like autoimmune diseases and cancers. (Teratoma was a freaky thing to them. An unwanted extra mass that could grow teeth, bones, and hair within it!?)
Food intolerances confuse them. Especially since individuals with lactose intolerance have no fear of any culinary deity. Whatever sins committed is a wretched pact between that human and the toilet.
Another confusing aspect is the constant debate of a soul among humans. Popular arguments are the heart, stomach, and brain/mind. Meanwhile, the Cybertronian 'soul' isn't a philosophical debate. It's a physical reality with their spark.

TO LIVE, AND TO SERVE
part two
(tfo.sentinel x gn.miner.reader)
A short chapter
one, two, three
"So, what'd you think?" He placed his servos on his hips and glanced down at you with a grin. You're looking at elsewhere, though. At the interior of the habsuite and the slight widen of your intake and mouth should be embarrassing.
After all, you missed feeling the movements on your face after the venom disappating.
"A nice, lovely space for a miner, isn't it?"
Nice was a bit of an understatement. It wasn't anything lie you'd have at the barracks. Gold amassed the entirety of the room, gleaming as every glare of the light streaming through the wide arched windows rushed in. A a comfortable mini alcove for a library was by the corner and — oh, look your berth. Right by the window, puffed up with pillows and satin covers.
A dream for any mech with terrible backs and callous bodies. Small but strangely pleasant. Befitting of a miner, you suppose.
"I appreciate your kind...gift, sir.''
You could finally enjoy a time of solitude. Away from all the drilling.
"I've got it all prepared in under a cycle." He said. " Had the drones churning up a few midnight energon for the bit. You know, after I saved you from getting killed."
Saved me from getting killed by you. How poetic.
The drones behind pottered into the room arranging the furniture where Sentinel wanted it to be, moving in necessities you never thought you'd needed : waxing equipment, extra plating transfers, extra paint transfers, among more you couldn't count. However, one of the drones had a significant dent across their chassis. Almost like someone had thrown quite the punch and wanted to string out their gut.
You curl out a digit to point. "Is that...normal?"
Sentinel grunted and gave a dismissive wave, optics trained on the several drones organizing the library. He was fixated on the covers being color coded.
"Nothing trivial. This used to be a holding cell for soon to be named convicts so you can expect the structure to be a little bit janky and loose."
You look up to see where the metal pole of the ceiling is bent at an odd angle with clear signs of energon flakes coating the end. Poor mech, almost impaled by the thing. What were they doing up there anyway?
" The blueprint is drawn up before the war. Unfortunately, too much funds were going to the military so we had to improvise— " he nodded towards your berth, "—and built personal cell at the castle instead"
"I'm assuming holding cells are this lavish all around."
He finally looked at you for a moment and let out a loud laugh, a rich crescending wave of timber. "For me? Perhaps. Not for you, though. Not anything you would expect it to be."
A kind of tightness coiled in your chest at the tone of his voice. Not for you. Not like you. Not you. A chant. A mantra. Layers and overlays of voices that won't stop. The prior migraine that plagued your helm plunged back at full force and you gritted your dentas, cringing. As sentinel looked away, he conversed with the drones of what color you preferred your berth covers to be. " Blue," he declared. A distant murmer.. You drown out the noise, lightheaded. Eventually, he came up to you, uttering words that doesn't make sense.
"Thank you, sir." You say aimlessly.
"And, on that topic of sir," He cornered you in.
You step back instinctively
"I remember asking you to serve." A servo curled around your sides. "And I won't repeat this again, you know how much I hate repeating myself its ridiculous."
" What do you—"
"My Liege." He leaned down, whispering in your audials firmly. "Say it."
You stared straight ahead and swallowed. The lump on your throat glided down like an irregular sized rock. He was so close. So close to reach. If you could just reach out, curl your servos around his neck and squeezed — maybe, you could accomplish something that hadn't been done in your lifetime.
"My liege, sir.'' The words rippled out.
"Louder." He squeezed your sides, digits digging into the soft protoform.
You winced. "My liege, sir."
His nose grazed your jaw and he smiled. "Good mech, and don't worry about the floor you're in. I'll only call you up when you're dearly needed."
Which is, every night.
