Broad beans have been cultivated for thousands of years and the reason for this is simple, they are very nutritious, they are easy to grow and they have many uses in the garden, broad beans as a cover crop, have one of the highest nitrogen-fixing rates! Autumn Planting Guide

Not only is it an ideal time to plant delicious herbs and veggies, but as well as beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees. See below a few ideas for you to get your garden blooming this Autumn. Autumn is the new Spring and a brilliant time to get growing in your backyard and prepare your soil. Its also the perfect time to prep your garden for Spring. The temperature outside is much nicer, you have to water less and the soil is still warm enough for root growth. If there is enough nutrients from fertiliser they will thrive this season. The cooler Autumn weather provides ideal working conditions as well for gardening. 

Healthy soil is important for growing strong, vigorous plants and that resist pests and diseases and produce abundantly. 

Before planting it’s always important to have soil ready—This means adding manure or compost to soil for you to get a good crop from your veggie garden. Make sure you do your research and get the right soil for what you are planting.

 Not only is it an ideal time to plant delicious herbs and veggies, but as well beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees.

See below a few ideas for you to get your garden blooming this Autumn.

Vegetables to plant-

Beetroot, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, fennel, garlic, kale, lettuce, leeks, radish, silver beets, spring onions

Herbs to plant-

Coriander, garlic chives, Lemon Verbena, onion chives, oregano, parsley, rosemary, sage, thyme, watercress 

Trees to plant-

Japanese maples, crepe-myrtles, Chinese pistachios and flowering cherries are great trees to plant. Whether it be bright yellow, deep orange or rich scarlet— Choose your favourite shade to bring your backyard alive

Native plants like bottle brush, banksia, Lilly pilly and tea tree are also great to be planting this time of year. 

 Look at this beautiful tree in all its Autumn glory. The colours of the leaves in these months a so pretty.

Banksia Trees have the most unusual yet beautiful flower on them. These look beautiful in your home in flower arrangements. 

Camellias flowering starts during Autumn and displays an amazing variety of shades and provides much needed colour during the colder and darker months of the year. These can be planted into your garden or containers.
