💌 By Invitation - by @mlmgaze Lestat is invited to join a very, um, risqué scene with Marius, Armand, and Daniel - Great use of the hormones, very hot!

☀️ All Grown Up - by @bubblegum-blackwood Armand finds himself human again and Daniel takes the opportunity to turn the tables on him. Really fun premise and it goes unexpected places.

🔥 A Matter of Trust - by @bluehairandproverbs A very sexy human AU of Armand/Daniel with virgin play.

🎻 Selfish Desires by @leslutdepointedulac I'm always a sucker for mortal Lestat/Nicki and this is such a fun, playful, sexy fic.

📦 Amazon Prime by @fofoqueirah Incredibly funny, heartfelt, and wonderful fic about Marius and all of the people he loves as he stalks a delivery guy via the security camera.

🏀 Home Court Advantage - @covenofthearticulate It's Louis and Daniel hanging out and... watching basketball? Hell yeah. Bonding over sports and getting to know each other better and it's awesome.

OKAY LISTEN - this is the Marius/Armand/Lestat fic I've been waiting for my whole life. The drama! The BAGGAGE!! The Daddy Issues™️!!! There's other characters and relationships woven in even though the trio is the focus and Fofo just juggles it all so well, I'm so excited for the other 14 CHAPTERS TO COME. 🥹

Rating: Mature Relationships: Lestat de Lioncourt/Original Female Character(s) Summary: Giselle is a married woman living in the village near Chateau de Lioncourt. She finally gets the courage to ask a young mortal Lestat to her bed. The story is from her POV, but it is mainly an exploration of what Lestat might have been getting up to with the ladies of the village.

Honestly, the idea of Lestat having human descendants HAUNTS me and I'm so excited to see a fic finally tackling that big fat "What If?" in Lestat's mortal life!!! I love having it from a woman's POV too, something we definitely don't see a lot of in VC fic! 🙏🏼

Various Methods of Escape by @monstersinthecosmos - E, 5169 words, Louis/Daniel. WOAGH. Woagh. This is everything. It's hot and it's perfect. Did I mention I'm a monsterfucker?

Three of Hearts by @apoptoses - E, 6963 words, Armand/Lestat/Daniel. Couldn't stop thinking about this so I gave it a re-read at some point lmao. The dynamics are *chef's kiss*

I know some people were doing fic rec friday, but my Friday got away from me. And I still wanna contribute to your weekend reading! So here’s some stuff I read this week that you should check out too:

In the Blood by @desertfangs​

LISTEN. This is the immediately-post QotD vampire!Daniel hunting with Armand fic that dreams are made of, and if you like these two as a couple and haven’t read this you’re missing out! The details of Miami are beautiful, the hunt is the most sensual thing I’ve read in a very long time, and the emotions are all there: the love, Armand’s fatalistic streak, Daniel’s desire to please. 10/10 Armand/Daniel work, you need to read it!

Stage Directions by @rainbowcarousels​

Rainbow does this period of Lestat’s mortal life like nobody else, and we get a rare treat in the form of Nicki being sweet and not acidic. He’s still smart mouthed and snarky but in this fic you can see why Lestat fell for him. Top tier banter, filthy dirty talk, 18th century makeup and costume- what more could you want? Plus a more vulnerable mortal Lestat. It’s so, so well written and true to the tone of Lestat’s narration. An awesome fic you owe it to yourself to read.

Beneath Your Shallows by @hekateinhell​

It’s mortal Lestat with mermaid Armand. A creepy-cute-sexy romp on the beach where Lestat gets ruined for humanity and makes the friend he craves in the most surprising way. It’s a whole new variety of monster fucking for me and it’s so well written, detailed in all the right places. Making a character themselves when they can’t speak is such a challenge but it’s done right here, Armand is so very good!

oh hello! beloved enterprisery this is my fave game to do of all time, so thank u for this :D three things before we get into it: (1) out of respect for u, the first two will be iwtv fics, (2) most of these are my least popular works LMAO and (3) this got pretty long. sorry abt that.

hell and you: modern day devils minion w old man daniel and armand. sometimes i forget how much i like this fic and then i'll remember "i wrote a fic abt armand being daniel's sugar daddy, LOL." it's very funny to me personally. i especially love this bit i threw in:

He fills the apartment with the smell of his cologne and something underneath that it can’t quite mask. A smell like water left to stand too long or flowers left too long in a vase.

i like the idea of vampires smelling like death. i can forgive this tho bc i think in the later installments of the vc anne rice said vampires smell like mayo? which is ... well. at least much more attention-grabbing than what i did.

damn these vampires: an armandaniel fic that takes place immediately after the season finale. this fic was majorly inspired by a thought that woke me up from deep sleep. armand and daniel have history. armand (i'm guessing) blocked daniel's memories. but didn't wipe them. daniel can't access them, but they're still there. so how funny would it be if daniel was jealous of louis being w armand but has no fucking idea why.

He smokes one on his walk back to the penthouse, thinking of how he had stood there in the aftermath, staring at Rashid—Armand—hovering over them like fucking Mary Poppins, his hand interlocked with Louis’s, and—instead of doing what a Pulitzer-winning, seasoned journalist of his caliber should’ve been doing in the face of being this royally fucked over—absurdly, inexplicably, Daniel noted the position of Armand’s thumb: on top.

i make myself laugh.

keep on keeping on, dean winchester: deancas s13 au where jack is a baby. i can't actually think of a part of it that stands out without any context (which, in my opinion, is a good sign), but i can say that i enjoy this part quite a bit:

Friday morning, as they’re making their way through the sticks toward the interstate, Sam says, “Hey, guess what I bought,” and holds up a dusty Sing-A-Long CD. “Fuck no,” Dean says. “We are not listening to Metallica all the way to Sioux Falls with a baby in the back.” “He likes it! Right, Jack?” he calls over his shoulder. Jack makes an incandescent gurgling sound. “See? Kid knows any music made after 1979 sucks ass.” “Singing in early childhood is important, Dean. It helps kids with language development, memory, and emotional regulation, and it entrains their social visual behavior.” “Thanks, Spock. You’re the pride of the Federation.” “Dean.” “Dude, I’m just saying, we can entrain his social visual behavior with the classics. We don’t need that baby crap. It’s the 21st century. All we need is Zep, Cash, some AC/DC—”

i worked really hard to capture dean's voice--like, harder than i've ever worked to scrub my own voice from a piece of writing. the amount of references and sayings in this bitch? sheesh.

i'm also very happy with how the relationship btwn jack and dean developed. one person who commented made a very intelligent observation that even i hadn't realized: i made dean see himself in jack. and it makes sense, doesn't it? jack's mom died bc of the supernatural; he wasn't allowed to process this loss at all; and he was left in the care of a father who'd lost a spouse. a father whose grief made him mean and treated his son like an object (hence the "it" pronouns used in the beginning).

anyway! very happy w how it turned out :)

long live the kingslayer: an elriel mission fic. i've spoken abt it like. a million times by now. and i still love it <3 there's just so much real estate to work w when it comes to elain. she's so underdeveloped that anything u say abt her is almost always pure conjecture. it was so much fun to take a character i loved so dearly and write a story where she was never punished for being who she is.

i'm still very fond of this part in particular:

“Wait,” he said before she could leave. His voice was nearly as hesitant as his expression, flickering between uncertainty and a strange, boyish shyness that was captivating on him. He reached into his leathers—where, she couldn’t know—and pulled out a small container. “Here,” he said, placing it in her hands. She opened it. Inside was a smelly, yellow ointment. “A salve,” he explained, “for your hands.” An unnameable feeling seized her. She hadn’t thought he noticed, never dared mention it out of fear of what he’d think, and this whole time he’d been carrying this salve with him. A salve for her hands. It was a terrible idea. She knew it as soon as it came to her, but she grabbed Azriel by the ears anyway, drew him down to her height, and kissed his cheek. She felt his skin go warm, and she imagined how surprised he must look, how shy. When she pulled back, she saw that his face was indeed dark with color, avoiding her gaze. Simultaneously pleased at her reaction and embarrassed by it. He was magical, she thought, and she loved him dearly. Loved him so much that it broke her heart. “Thank you,” she said. “This will be invaluable.” Finally, a smile from him. Unable to resist it, she brushed the back of her hand over his cheek, fond, and said, “I’ll leave you to rest.”

a lot of acotar fans hate it when ppl write azriel to be soft and shy and not particularly dark at all. me, personally? i think that’s boring. azriel was born into an abusive and violent home and suffered unimaginable torture at a very young age. he developed powers meant to protect him from the horror of his daily life, and those powers made him a great spymaster/torturerer. but it's so obvious that azriel hates his position within the court. he's starved of intimacy and tenderness. he has an extremely reserved and kind nature. it's a much more meaningful to have a character like that find someone who recognizes his gentleness and desire for gentleness in him and offers it to him. those characteristics don't make him any less of a man.

god never wrote a good play in his life: a god/chuck character study written in second person. i genuinely don't know how the toxic sibling relationship btwn amara and chuck doesn't make more people absolutely fucking insane. this story is chuck-centered, obviously, but i don't think anyone realizes WHY i did that. i don't like chuck! i didn't like writing from his perspective! i did it bc all of supernatural is chuck-centered. even when it isn't quote-unquote "his" story, it's still his. the point of the whole thing is for the reader to do what chuck/the show doesn't: break out of what's being told to u! look at the other characters! namely, look at amara.

chuck tries to scrub her from the story completely. the fic is 3k long, yet chuck doesn't mention amara at ALL unless she's onscreen. and even when she is onscreen, we can't trust a fucking thing he says! as exemplified here:

Maybe that wasn’t how it happened. Maybe you and your Sister were perfectly capable of creation. It would be absurd if you weren’t. Surely it wasn’t possible that you couldn’t create anything together. If you were in harmony, that should have implied you, together, would excel at it. She was an eccentric mind, designing balls of gas and entire solar systems that resembled you, right where all your rings met. (The most terrifying thing She came up with was the collapse of a star, where it became a gaping black mouth that swallowed everything in sight. You and I, She explained, perfectly in balance.) You were far less excitable, putting all your focus into the one planet you’d claimed as your own, but as you watched Her in those moments, you privately invented jealousy. Maybe you were lying about the lying. Perhaps They did give you counsel in a lapse of generosity, and your essence catapulted as you realized you would have to choose. Or possibly that day went like every other. Maybe She never met Them, and you only met Them much later, once you had shoehorned Them into part of your story. So instead of revelations and sacrifices, your Sister told you about centripetal force as you floated, listening, your rings spinning in slow, lazy circles, and you told Her about how little you cared for all this science and math She liked so much. Where is the pathos? you asked, and She sighed much as an exasperated older Sister should, and you realized that you loved Her very much. Or maybe you didn’t.

WHY? why is that? it's because the longer she's in the story, the worse chuck looks.

amara loved chuck from beginning to fucking end. she was born loving him. she chose him, always, over and over again. and chuck knew this! he used it! he would dangle the possibility of him finally loving her back to get her to do what he wanted. and what does chuck do abt this? abt his story, the first to ever exist? he recreates it. michael & lucifer; cain & abel; dean and sam (all men, curiously). to ... what? prove that he isn't the only brother to have not loved his sibling back? that in his position, u would've done the same?

i could talk abt that fic all day. best thing i've ever written.

hi blog it's friday! my unofficial "clean the apartment while working" day.

I am terrible at cleaning and I hate it, but I've found that having an assigned day for it has been really helpful. I'm trying to be better at house stuff now that I've done this renovation because everything is so nice and new and shiny. for the first time in my life I am actually living in a place custom designed for exactly what I want, which I think actually makes upkeeping it easier. and it turns out, it's not too bad to clean the baseboards while listening in on a meeting.

anyway, today I cleaned my dyson (the vacuum love of my life). but also I feel personally betrayed that the things I use for cleaning ALSO HAVE TO BE CLEANED. being a grownup is just like one endless joke after another.

I'm getting to the end of all my king's avatar recs and also my writers month fic tranfers. how exciting! maybe this weekend I will finally finish up my best vc fic!

VC Fic Rec Friday

I've read a lot of great fics lately but here are just a couple that I've really enjoyed:

⛺ Jester's Privilege by @nothing-but-paisley

Armand/Daniel - The Chase Years - 1,913 words - Mature Daniel decides to celebrate the release of IwtV by going camping. Of course Armand shows up! He asks a lot of questions, naturally. This has such a great back and forth between Armand and Daniel and really captures their weird, fraught dynamic during this era.

🛣️ Lestat's RV by @calipsan

Louis/Lestat - Post-Canon - 1,336 words - Mature I have a minor obsession with RVs even though I've never trailed in one (perhaps because of that). So when I saw the title of this fic, I got so excited. But I love a lot of things about this fic: Lestat shirking his princely duties, Louis' initial reaction to Lestat doing something out of pocket... It's just a great, fun read!

🎶 Angel of Music by @bubblegum-blackwood

Armand/Marius, Armand/Daniel, Louis/Lestat, Armand/Daniel/Marius, etc etc. - Human Rock Group AU - 27,615 words - Explicit This is actually a sequel's to Teacher's Pet which is also great and I also recommend, but I'm a Daniel girl at heart and this is where Daniel joins the story. Honestly, this fic just blew me away. The relationships between all of the characters are incredible and true to form here but the dynamic between Armand/Marius/Daniel is just chef's kiss. The characterizations are spot on and the ways canon events and things are brought into this alternate universe are continually clever. Benji and Sybelle are cats! It's sexy, it's funny, there are heartbreaking moments and places where I laughed out loud. An incredible read start to finish in a very fun series!

I've been reading the most incredible Marius/Pandora fic and I need you all to read it immediately.

Pandora/Marius - Explicit - 22,991 words

I actually have one chapter left but I didn't want to wait til next week to rec this (it's Marius week I hear?) and honestly I'm super sad it's almost over, I could read an entire novel of this.

It's Pandora and Marius in the post-canon or late-canon era while Marius is moping about Daniel having moved back with Armand. It opens with Pandora admiring herself in a strap-on and only gets better from there!

It's angsty and funny and sexy as hell. It captures Pandora's voice so well and Marius is so true to form in this. I love everything about it and you should read it!

I don't know that I've seen a lot of fic that deals with Louis leaving Trinity Gate in the PL trilogy so I was thrilled to see this one. Despite Armand's anxiety about the change, he and Louis are so sweet together here and it's a very lovely fic that made my heart so happy!

🎻 Handspun Strings by @aunteat

Armand/Nicolas

This is a heartbreaking glimpse at Armand doing his damnedest to help Nicolas as best he can, with his characteristic dichotomy of tenderness and cruelty. He has so much love for both Nicolas and Lestat here, and this is a great exploration of their relationship during this very fraught time. Really love this one!

🛋️ A Deluge of Memories by @cinnamonclove

Armand/Daniel

In this cozy post-canon story, Armand and Daniel cuddle together during a thunderstorm and share stories about vampire legends and monsters. Bonus points for a Bigfoot reference. This is the soft Armand and Daniel reunion content I adore and I loved this fic!

This is such a great peek into what Denis's every day life with Armand might've looked like and what informed the predator/pray, master/slave dynamic that Louis saw — just fucked me up in the best way!! Feels so true to the Armand we met in IWTV; cruel and deliberate yet still so gentle and enticing.

We as a fandom don't talk about Denis enough and I think it's a shame because THERE'S SO MUCH to be explored here even with the little tidbits of information we have and this fic did it beautifully. 🥹🙏🏼

I love when the horror aspect of vampires isn't shied away from and honestly, I adore Armand when he's being a monster. 🥹 The premise here is so fucking unique too, I don't want to spoil it but GUYS YOU HAVE TO READ THIS LMAO IT'S SO TOPICAL. And there's so much going on with Armand's relationships with Daniel, Marius, Lestat — and even Pandora and Bianca! I cry!!!!!!

I didn't get to read/reread a lot of fic this week (I usually like to do a quick reread if I haven't read it in a while) so it's only two for today but to be fair, there's two parts to the Knight of Swords series and you should read them BOTH so ykw I'm counting it as three! ♥️

Friday Fic Recs!

It's Friday! This week was absolute madness at my work so my brain feels a little like swiss cheese. I hope you all had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend. Also, just a quick note, I am going to forgo these posts for the next couple of weeks due to all the fandom events happening in the beginning of February, because I think there will be a SO MUCH amazing fic coming out and we will all be trying to keep up with it!

Armand/Daniel - Set during QotD but after Daniel is turned I am a huge fan of fics that force characters to confront their past, and this is a fantastic story about Armand and Daniel doing exactly that, as they head back to an old apartment and rummage through the things they left behind before they head to Night Island with the rest of the Coven. It's got everything I want: humor, some light angst, amazing banter, and a sweet ending. If you have not read this yet, what are you waiting for??

📻 Daniel and Armand Fic Box by @ whisperbird

Armand/Daniel - a collection of ficlets and vignettes This is just a great collection of short stories. The first one is Daniel telling Armand how he first encountered death as a kid, the second is Armand's POV of finding Daniel in Lestat's house playing Louis' interview on tape, and that's just the start. There's a lot of great stuff in here and I highly recommend checking it out.

Armand/Marius, Armand/Daniel

Set during Queen of the Damned, after hearing much of Maharet's story, Armand is scared what the future may hold for their kind, and what may become of them. He seeks comfort from Marius and they discuss Daniel and situation they find themselves in. This exactly the sort of scene that feels so absent from QotD. I love fics that fill in these gaps, and this one is masterfully done.

🌼 Nothing's Fair in Love and War by @leslutdepointedulac

Louis/Lestat + Claudia

Louis insists on going hunting alone and when he returns, he and Lestat argue over Claudia, who's upset he was gone. I'm such a sucker for Lestat being a good dad, it gets me every time. This fic really captures the strange tension between Louis and Lestat in this era as they try to navigate their love for Claudia, and their feelings for each other. It's so good!

Friday Fic Recs

Happy Friday! Here are just a few fics I read recently that I think you should check out!

📚 Vivaldi: Winter. by @sunshinerambling

Armand/Daniel, post-TVA. This fic makes me want to chew on paper, it's so good. It's Daniel confronting Armand about his book and some of the things he said (and did!), and I can never get enough of this kind of fic that's filling in the gaps from canon. It's a scene we deserved and I love how it's written here! Highly recommend this to all Devil's Minion fans!

🌲 A Presence in the Woods by @calipsan

Lestat/Nicki, Prince Lestat Era. This is sort of a self-indulgent rec because the incredible Calipsan wrote Lestat's POV of my fic Into the Woods and the events that take place there and I love it so much. For one, I love getting Lestat's reaction to a failed turning and how it makes him think of Nicolas. It's gorgeously written and it continues the story insofar as how Vampire Court decides to proceed with justice in this situation. It's a super enjoyable read and I dig it.

Fanfic is, to me, a conversation and I think it's so cool to have fics that pick up where other fics leave off from different writers and different character's POVs, it's just NEAT. Thank you for writing this!

Armand/Daniel, Night Island Era. I'm a sucker for anything set in the period right after QotD, particularly with Armand and Daniel, but really with any of them. It's such a weird, fascinating time for all of them. This is a delightful fic that touches on some of the challenges of them all being together and the struggle Armand and Daniel have trying to connect after everything's that happened. Absolutely love it!
