Frigg was the Queen of the Gods to the Germanics, so very loosely akin to Hera:
The differences start with Her being as free to sleep around as Odin, where Hera was forbidden this, with Her NOT being Odin's sister (that's the Vanir thing), and with Her being a trickster with a bloodthirsty edge to her at times in a case of like attracts like. Where She leaves traces in Norse myth it shows a Goddess of many facets, more than a few of which are harder edged.
Too much modern Germanic neopaganism omits the Goddesses or softens Them beyond recognition in favor of trying to turn Odin into a one eyed mashup of Jesus and Khorne. As with all the other Goddesses the Germanic deities are not soft little demure all-loving archetypes, and even a cursory look at the long and bloody history of the polytheistic Germanic tribal world would note that worshiping these deities could and did mean they inspired war bands, not detracted from them.

Anime Update V3 15
From Me To You - Now everyone in school believes that Sawako's smile is a blessing of good fortune, sort of like Taiga that one time in Toradora. Sawako is now close enough to her new friends to call them all by their first names, except she's unable to do the same for Kazehaya. Pin forces Kazehaya to be a committee member for the upcoming sports festival, and we're more properly introduced to Ume Kurumizawa, his territorial and possessive middle school friend we'd been seeing for the past few episodes. Shit's about to go down.
Hunter x Hunter - Shoot and Knuckle are still fighting Youppi.
SHUFFLE! - That's what that was all about? Sia has Dissociative Identity Disorder and could take on the personality of her stillborn twin sister, Kikyou? This certainly added a whole new layer to what I'd been seeing and made the fallout of Sia and Rin's deranged date all the more interesting, but if I had a complaint it'd be that it seems just a little redundant of what we just did with Nerine and Lycoris. The whole "absorbing her memories and essence" (while in the womb) angle was unnecessary - I'd much rather it be left ambiguous if the Kikyou persona really WAS her or just another personality of Sia she formed based on the idea of what her sister would've been like.
The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II - Waver actually got to meet with his old abusive mentor Kayneth in a dream, but it seemed good for finally getting him back up. Hephaestion and Gray took shelter from the raging snowstorm together and seemed to make a closer connection before Hephaestion parted ways with Gray. Adashino then gathereds all of the guests and accuses Karabo of being the one who murdered Trisha. Waver intervened and contested her theory, but Rail Zeppelin comes out in support of her and forcibly removes Karabo's Mystic Eyes for the auction per their agreement.
KonoSuba - Of course Vanir is immediately revealed to be alive due to one of his extra lives, now disbarred from the Devil King's army and working with Wiz at her store. He sells Kazuma a kotatsu that he refuses to come out from and harasses Darkness and Megumin when they try to get him out, but then like a Family Guy episode this stops being the focus and it instead becomes about the party fighting a bunch of lizard monsters and Kazuma dying and meeting with Eris once again as he begins to grow feelings for the friendly goddess.
K-On! - Yui got so busy practicing on her new guitar that she ended up not studying for her midterms exam and flunked it big time. So she must pass the makeup exam or else she will be barred from club activies, including being part of the Light Music Club band. All the ways her friends had to help her keep focus on her studies were amusing to watch, as is their continued interplay with each other and the comedic antics and reactions of Ritsu in particular. We also got to meet Ui, Yui's younger sister who's actually more mature and put together than her big sister is. In the end Yui just barely managed to ace the makeup exam, so the band doesn't have to have a break up!
Eureka Seven - Eureka finally told the whole story of her time with Adroc Thurston and how he gave up his life to protect her and the Scub Coral, to keep in-tact the planet that Dewey now seeks to eviscerate for the sake of reshaping the world of humans in his totalitarian image. And speaking of, he pulls a coup on the Council of Sages, with the councilwoman surrendering control to him after he's killed the other two, meaning Dewey is now the ruler of the world!
Air - Kano is revealed to possess strange magic powers, which briefly changed the surroundings of Yukito and Misuzu. Yukito later listens in on a really strange, uncomfortable conversation that Kano's older sister is having, but not much is made of it. Then at one point, Potato goes missing and has to be searched for by Yukito, Miszusu, and Kano all together. We get more cuteness and innocent wistfulness from Miszusu, and of course we had to get at least one scene with Michiru in there (though I really think that if this show had been dubbed later, they'd totally have cast David Matranga and Hilary Haag as Yukito and Michiru rather than Vic Mignogna and Serena Varghese - they just have THAT sort of dynamic going on.) Then we end on yet another, stranger and more disturbing Kano moment! Yikes! What the actual fuck is going on with this girl?

Chronicles of the Nine Realms ( aka my MCU Nine Realms fics ) ( in summary cuz it's actually very long )
. Once upon a time, during before the Viking times, Odin and his first wife, Grymhildr of Nornheim, got married as a way to try ease the tense relations between Asgard and Nornheim
. That marriage produced Hela. However, when Hela was only a baby, Grymhildr plotted treason against the House of Buri. So Odin had Grymhildr executed
. That also resulted in the centuries long Aesir - Nornish conflict
. And then, some years later, Odin and Frigga ( then a Valkyrie ) gradually fell in love and later got married, and thus Frigga becomes a New Queen of Asgard. Bestla was Head of the Valkyries before that position was passed down to Reginleif ( mother of Brunnhilde ) on Odin and Frigga's wedding day
. And then the Aesir Vanir War ensues. It's a whole Asgard + Alfheim vs Vanaheim + Nidavellir scenario. It ends wirh ceasefire on both sides....and Frigga's younger sister Gullveig's marriage to Hodr of Vanaheim also helps recover Aesir Vanir relations. That marriage also resulted in Hogun and his 2 younger sisters, Hnossa and Gersemi
. Sometime after the Aesir Vanir War, Thor, Sif, the Warriors 3, Loki and Sigyn were born
. Heimdall was born from his dad Tyr with his 1st marriage to Kelda, who was younger sister of Aegir of the Sea Fae of Alfheim. Unluckily, Kelda died of a sickness. Sif was born from Tyr and Zisa of the Forest Tribe of Vanaheim
. Sigyn was born as daughter of Duke of the Vale Fae called Ivarr and an Asgardian former Valkyrie called Avenil ( her parents have several nods to Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella di Castilla )
. Frigga had this exchange student program to have several of the Royal and noble offsprings of Asgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim and Nidavellir to be exchange students in those 4 realms' Royal schools, as a way to encourage potential alliances between those Royal and noble kids against the looming threat of Jotunheim and Svartalfheim
. And that's kinda how Sigyn becomes a childhood friend of Loki in their school days
. Sigyn also has her own band of magic friends - including Sunna and Mani ( twins of Aelsa Featherwine and Mundilfari, then King and Queen of Alfheim ), Anneli ( a Desert Fae - Aesir hybrid who eventually becomes wife of Heimdall ), Glenr ( a Air Fae Duchy heir who becomes husband of Sunna ), Ulla ( youngest of the 9 daughters of Aegir and Ran and later on eventual wife of Mani )
. Anyway, Sunna and Mani kinda reminds me of Margaery and Loras Tyrell in some ways, Ulla kinda reminds me of Edwina Sharma in spades, and Sunna x Glenr kinda remind me of Aurora x Philip and Christine x Raoul in some ways
. In the Yggadrsil Institute Days, Theoric, Amora and Lorelei were amongst ' mean kids ' and were amongst school rivals to Thor and his band of school friends in tow
. Long story short Amora and her family were soon banished to Nornheim cuz of their treasonous acts against House of Buri
. And then, the Valkyrie Massacre happened
. In that event, only 1/10 of the old Valkyrior survived ( with severe injuries/PTSD then ). Reginleif, Avenil, and Valtrauta ( who is also younger sister of Vidarr and daughter of Skolfjr and Gefjon ) all died to save Brunnhilde and Sigyn ( Valtrauta is also old lover of Brunnhilde )
. With the Old Valkyries disbanded, Sigyn soon becomes a lady in waiting to Frigga and adopts a less battle geared lifestyle after recovering from severe injuries
. Ivarr is also older brother of Idunn and Eostre ( Norse Goddess of Spring ). Fandral is son of Bragi and Idunn, making him an older cousin of Sigyn.
. And then Loki and Sigyn soon got together sometime after Valkyrie Massacre, in a birthday party of Sigyn's in the Vale Fae Duchy Castle
. At that point, Loki and Theoric have this romantic rivalry over Sigyn - and ofc Sigyn avoided Theoric like a plague and chose Loki, whom she came to gradually fall for
. And then in Thor 1, Sigyn tries her damn best to be a mediator between Loki and Thor ( and their allies then ij tow ). She was ofc distraught when it seems Loki died
. In Thor 2, upon returning from several diplomatic trips to several Realms, she was elated that Loki survived the Fall....yet is shocked of Loki's actions in Avengers 1. Still, she works to be a mediator between Thor and Loki, all the while becoming a major strategist against the Dark Fae forces
. Sigyn also managed to uncover Theoric's treachery to Asgard by becoming a spy working for Malekith and helped expose Theoric's treachery to Asgard and...yeah that also majorly helped end Theoric and his entire household
. Meanwhile, Malekith killed Mundilfari in a battle, and managed to hypnotize Aelsa to marry him....yet only for a short while, because Sunna and Mani and their eventual spouses managed to break free of their prisons to break the curse. HUGE FIGHT ENSUES and all those Light Fae were killed or imprisoned in that fight....
. And then Ivarr managed to help save those survived Light Fae in tow and a huge battle ensues, which resulted in destruction of Ljosalfgard ( capital of Alfheim ) Yet managed to drive away Malekith and his Dark fae forces
. And then Loki managed to kill Theoric via necromancy
. For 4 years ( which wasn't very long for Asgardian years ), Loki ruled Asgard with disguise of Odin, with Sigyn as a major strategist for him and such.
. They were later secretly wed in a private wedding orchestrated by several priests and priestesses of Asgard who supported their union
. And in Thor 3, basically it became Nine Realms vs Hela
. Sif's parents, Volstagg'a dad ( his mom Geiravog died in the Valkyrie Massacre btw ), Hogun's parents, Ivarr and a number of others all died in that event, yet many still stand
. Sigyn got in touch with Loki via crystal ball facetime, all the while helping her Light Fae friends run the Crystal Cove refuge
. Additional note, Solveig Sindridottir of Nidavellir ( a niece of Eitri and a granddaughter of Iwaldi, and a Princess of Nidavellir ) became amongst the interplanetary support to Asgard after Valkyrie Massacre....and later on gradually fell in love and married Vidarr. Solveig x Vidarr kinda reminds me of Penelope Featherington x Colin Bridgerton in some ways.
. Anyway, it turns out that Hela and her wife Karnilla, Queen of Norns ( and also one of her cousins!!! ) forged a dangerous magic deal with Surtur, in that they share SAME MAGICAL ENERGY
. Years ago, Hela actually snapped after Odin told her the truth of her heritage AND THUS DUNKED MIRMIR'S HEAD IN A POT OF OIL, and thus resulted in Valkyrie Massacre.
. Mimir is also a grandfather of Kvasir of the Mountain Tribe of Vanaheim ( and later becomes 1st husband of Sif snd biological father of her son Ullr ) btw
. Anyway, once they all know of that magic deal, EVERY SINGLE MAGIC USER IN THE NINE REALMS LAUGHED AT HOW THOUGHTLESS THAT DEAL WAS.
. And then Glenr and Eitri joined fleets to defeat Karnilla - Glenr and his Light Fae warriors in tow managed to drain Karnilla's magic, and Eitri and his generals in tow all threw Karnilla off a cliff and crushed her with 3 big stones right after that
. And thats how Hela lost half of her magic.
. On top of that, Hela and Surtur began to be at each other's throats....which later resulted in Surtur killing Hela ( and the Nine Realms celebrated the death of Hela )
. After Thor 3, Thor rules New Asgard, Hogun's sisters Co rule Vanaheim, and Sunna and Mani and their spouses rule Alfheim together
. Vidarr and Kvasir are amongst those who died in Thanos Massacre and their widows managed to escape with their kids in tow and such ( Sif was also pregnant with Ullr at that point btw ). RIP
. Meanwhile Sigyn was abducted by TVA agents during Thanos Massacre ( Loki thought Sigyn died and that's another reason why he tried to stab Thanos out of desperation and such ), and was tortured and imprisoned regularly by TVA stadf, before Sigyn managed to have her big escape with a large number of variants in tow to a variant refuge in Earth 836 Reykjavik. There, Sigyn also recovers from such wounds inflicted on her and helps run behind the frontlines of that refuge
. After the whole chaos in Loki series, Loki manages to find Sigyn, and they have an emotional reunion....
. And Loki and Sigyn rule the multiverse together and later on have twin sons of their own called Vali and Narvi
. Eventually, Loki has an emotional reunion with Thor and the 2 rekindled a friendlier rapport for the sake of their kids ( Thor got an adopted daughter at the end of Thor 4 btw )
. On top of that, sometime after Thor 4, Thor and Sif fell in love through a slow burn romance which includes them at first help each other take care of their kids....
. And eventually, Loki and Sigyn and their young sons attend Thor and Sif's wedding in New Asgard as VIP attendees, bearing gifts in tow
. At that point, Sif was a Duchess of the Mountain Tribe before passing it down to one of her in laws as she becomes new Queen of New Asgard.

And today they unleash their seventh beast, titled “Epitome”. Vanir is a pretty good viking metal band, although one of their songs that I love dearly, called "Sons of the North" is vastly different than the other songs, it is still great! Not really energetic, and lacks the vocals, but it is instead a very nice, slow, and calm song. If you ever find yourselves in a desire for something slow, something nice, I'd give it a listen. Otherwise, Vanir is a pretty good band, lend 'em your ears!

Hey OP, I'm not answering the poll just yet because I'm not exactly sure where my setting falls on the KCA Scale. Because for much of Midgarde's history there was an established caste system based on race that only became dismantled in the last 200 years. Note that this only applies to the planet's mortals-- the divinities still have established roles due to their programming and cosmic origins.
Cultures across Midgarde vary widely and have as much to do with where you're from as with your race. Generally if a Dwarf and a Giant come from the same Nation they'll share the same culture but there are still wildkin groups of every mortal race that are not affiliated with any nation and thus still retain their own distinct cultures.
An example of this being that one-third of the remaining Valkyrie population on Midgarde are isolationists that keep to their floating islands while Orcish bands are nomadic traders. The caste system that the Nations were built on have their origins in wildkin cultures.
Since that caste system has broken down, cultures within Nations have homogenized but cultures outside of Nations have not. And even within Nations there are still distinct cultural enclaves that are the last surviving remnants of the defunct racial caste system.
Meanwhile the divinities have their origins outside of Midgarde and still have their own caste system based on their programming. Aesir are essentially the Deities of the Cosmos responsible for the cycle of life and death while Vanir were created by Aesir to protect Midgarde and watch over its native life without direct influence or intervention.
If this sounds complicated, it's because it is.
Your post is really interesting and based on it I would really like to know where my setting falls on the scale.
I think when it comes to building a world that has multiple races/ancestries/kintypes/whatever you want to call them, there are two extremes
The first (I'll call it the Tolkien approach) is to have each of the races fill a specific role. Elves live in the forest and are old and wise. Hobbits live in the shire and are chill. Dwarves live in the mountains and mine etc.
There can be multiple cultures among a single race (typically the humans) but there are no cultures that have any significant diversity. There can be individuals that live among a culture that is not of their race (e.g Bilgo, Arwen) but they are outliers.
It's very easy to be racist with this approach, but it's not inherently racist. In my (white) opinion, if you want to do this (or lean towards it) make sure that the individual types represent concepts and not real world cultures. The orcs as a representation of industrialisation are great, the fact that they're typically depicted with darker skin than anyone else less so
The other (I'll call it the ICON approach) is to just have a bunch of kintypes primarily for the purpose of allowing for more interesting character designs.
There can still be biological differences, but ultimately your culture is what is important. To directly quote the ICON rulebook: " Culture is far more important than Kintype. A Trogg and a Xixo from the same village are far more alike than two Troggs from different part of the world."
Cultures are also diverse. There is no culture that is just one type of Kin, and there is no Kin that has just one culture.
Obviously, as with most thigns in life, lots of things don't fit either of these extremes.
On a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the Tolkien approach and 5 being the ICON approach, I think the Forgotten Realms would be a 3. There are some strong associations with specific cultures to specific species but you can find anything anywhere, especially in the larger cities like Waterdeep or Baldur's Gate.
My setting of Draxnor would be a 4. Associatins between cultures and ancestries are typically weak and mostly only the result of the different ancestries originating in different parts of the world. There is one notable exception, the almost entirely dark elven Drow Queendom, but even they have notable amounts of dwarves, tieflings, and gnomes among them and there are enough dark elves in other nations that most wouldn't assume any dark elf to be part of the Drow Queendom.

Another image based on the music of the Norwegian black metal band Enslaved. This image is based on the song "Path to Vanir" from the album "Ruun" and is the last album of the middle phase of the band's career. For the next one I plan on focusing still on the human figure but trying to be more abstract if I can.

As someone who's been betrayed by people I considered to be my family, honestly, Tyr got off pretty easy only losing a hand for that betrayal. But hey, I'm biased.
Tumblr media
Well I've been waiting for a question like this for a long time!
Tyr and Fenrir: a story where both were betrayed.
I want to clarify that this is SPG. and UPG.
We all know the story where Hel, Jörmungandr and Fenrir were taken to Asgard. There are many paintings where they are portrayed as children, not as adults and much less as dangerous beings, because they were not and never were. They were simply feared because of their appearance, leaving much to think about. And I must repeat this: they used to be children.
Let's talk about Tyr.
My boyfriend works with him. He is an incredible God. Tyr is the God of war, but I want to emphasize that he is the God of order and justice.
Tyr and Fenrir in their meeting.
According to the Eddas, Tyr was the only "brave" God (and perhaps not brave, but with the brains not to judge another by his appearances), who fed Fenrir. In my mind and of many others, they played together, became best friends, and Tyr spent all his time with him. We all know the relationship was wonderful. Tyr cared for him, fed him, and offered his trust. We know that Fenrir did not trust the Gods at all, but Tyr earned his trust.
The Wolf the Æsir brought up at home, and Týr alone dared go to him to give him meat.
Gylfaginning XXXI-XL
The betrayal of Fenrir, and why I am sure that they also betrayed Tyr.
Tyr and Fenrir were together all the time. Tyr did not know that they were building the chains, since he was always with Fenrir. Being his protector, the Gods would obviously never have mentioned to Tyr that they wished to bind (and practically torture) his best friend. Besides, Tyr would have stopped the situation. And he would have even alerted Fenrir and let him escape. Being the God of justice, he would have raised his voice for his INNOCENT and BEST FRIEND.
Besides, if Tyr had been part of the creation of the chains, from the first chain Fenrir would have been stuck, why? Simple, because Tyr was the only one who truly knew his strength and destructive potential.
The loss of Tyr's hand.
Tyr was sure that, like all past chains, Fenrir would break them. Tyr trusted Fenrir completely, and that was why he placed his hand on his jaws. He was sure that his best friend would emerge victorious as on all previous occasions. When Tyr saw that his best friend had been totally trapped.... He had to keep his promise, being something they both suffered. If Fenrir had desired revenge or to make him truly suffer, he would have devoured more than the arm of his best friend, Tyr. But there was an oath to keep.
We even know that Tyr did not plan to deceive him, much less sacrifice his hand:
' The Wolf said: 'If ye bind me so that I shall not get free again, then ye will act in such a way that it will be late ere I receive help from you; I am unwilling that this band should be laid upon me. Yet rather than that ye should impugn my courage, let some one of you lay his hand in my mouth, for a pledge that this is done in good faith.' Each of the Æsir looked at his neighbor, and none was willing to part with his hand, until Týr stretched out his right hand and laid it in the Wolf's mouth. But when the Wolf lashed out, the fetter became hardened; and the more he struggled against it, the tighter the band was. Then all laughed except Týr: he lost his hand.
Gylfaginning XXXI-XL
Therefore, as the Eddas say, all the Gods laughed, except Tyr, not only because his arm was going to be devoured, but because his best friend had been betrayed and had been trapped because of him. Tyr is the God of justice, and if he had known that situation he would never have allowed it.
To my mind always comes a scene where the two of them stare at each other, in pain and fear, maybe even with tears in their eyes.... Two best friends who were separated by the ignorance of many.
My personal experience:
As I said, my boyfriend (husband, practically) works with Tyr and Odin. I've had a lot of contact with Tyr because of that, and his presence never generates rancor in me. Because of my traumas and being hypervigilant constantly, I can't trust the Aeisir and Vanir because of everything they did against Loki and his family, but it's a personal thing I have to work on. I can't especially trust Odin though, for banishing children, just because of how they looked. Saying this I don't mean to make you hate the other Gods, far from it, but I'm telling my personal experience and how my Post Traumatic Stress is reflected there.
Tyr is the only Aeisir I have my trust in, along with my aunt Sigyn.
Tyr has accompanied me a lot of times, especially when I go to the gym to train. More than once I have felt Fenrir (he is the one who always accompanies me to practice boxing and weights, and in general, to do physical activity) talk and laugh with Tyr while I train, about things in life that I have never managed to hear clearly, but they get along excellently. Tyr has even helped me a lot in my practices!
One UPG that is practically a SPG, is that my best friend and I asked by pendulum if Tyr gives apples of Idunn to Fenrir in secret. We know that the Gods are kept immortal by them. The answer was a playful "maybe" from Fenrir. Come on, we all know it's true. Even in meditations I have seen them both together in the cave where Fenrir is bound. Tyr is amazing.
Well, that might be all! Remember it's SPG/UPG, so you can avoid negative comments, attacks, and so on. I'm a pretty sensitive person and I ask please for patience, especially in contrary opinions please, and that negative comments usually hurt me a lot! I appreciate the understanding.

Note
I've recently become obsessed with the song Svanrand by Heilung. When I listened to the Hellblade Trailer version of the band's song In Maidjan first, then Svanrand a picture of an idea I've been sitting on began to form.
There's a Norse practice that's not entirely well known about, called Seiđr(probably spelled wrong because phones don't have keys for every language). Seiđr is essentially a practice of Divination magic through various means. In this case sex was a common way to go about it, dancing(though the sort was never specified no matter how research I did on it) of some kind, and a few other things I may be forgetting. One thing I do know is Seiđr, like most magic in Norse culture was viewed as feminine. Thus men doing it was often seen as something to look down on. Guys caught doing it were often beaten from what my research has shown me. I also know it may have come from the fact the Norse had a very 'odd', for lack of better term, view on gays and lesbians. While perfectly fine with two women being partners, they were only cool with gay guys that were 'tops'. Bottoms were seen as submissive, and thus not manly. Which was apparently worthy of disdain if not beatings? Norse culture is just...strange to research sometimes seriously. Seiđr was also a practice overseen and started by the Vanir Gullveig. Who some believe became Freya later after the whole thrice burned thrice born incident.
Anyways....listening to those two songs in tangent with each other, I had a thought..again. That being what if Death was a practioner of Seiđr as a way to sort of reclaim his sexuality among other possible reasons? One that could not only protect himself(I mean any Norsemen who would mess with Death would probably not win that fight), but others as well. Perhaps even taking on a teacher role at one point as well, and probably being one of very VERY few males to take such a role. I put this idea forth mainly to see what ya think. Sorry about the massive length, always had a chatterbox issue at times heheh...
Oh it’s very much ok haha, I tend to ramble a lot when I talk about things I like.
I like the idea of Death trying to reclaim sex, as it is definitely tainted to him. This actually partially goes off of an idea that I have, that Death was always more quiet and gentle (by Nephilim standards), or would enjoy things like books and crafting. I believe that Absalom saw this in Death, and because Death is a Firstborn and henceforth a pillar of the Nephilim community in which all who came after them looked up to, he beat the kindness/gentleness out of him; it was not warlike, it was not powerful, therefore Absalom wanted nothing to do with it and nothing of the sort within Nephilim culture.
I see The Nephilim as holding the Spartan way of life: might is right, strength prevails over all. The weak are left to die. So Absalom saw beating the kinder, more softer aspects of Death’s personality out of him as doing it for Death’s sake; because Absalom had an odd way of showing that he cared no doubt, and wanted Death to be respected.
I really think something of that nature happened back on the Nephilim homeworld especially because Death is so quick to pretend that he isn’t kind or does not care, when in reality he silently cares very much.
Anything gentle or intimate has been ruined, and he needs to realize that fragility is very much equal or more powerful than brute strength. Vulnerability/the ability to be vulnerable is very much a strength in itself.
As for sex, I believe that Death needs to be able to trust someone very very much to even think about matters of a sexual nature. I actually just posted a long post about my Darksiders OC, Zemira; who I made to be a partner to Death, and she helps him open up more and acclimates him to things like intimate touch, and allowing himself to be vulnerable and gentle.
I’ve also always seen Death as taking on some form of teacher/father (or a mix of both) role towards War, Strife, and Fury; as I love the idea that he raised the three of them.

just another graceless night
merry christmas 🎄here's my secret snowflake gift for the lovely sayo @sayosdreams. if u didn't guess it already, surprise! i hope u like it <3
a/n: this is part of my series of crescent city aus found in my masterlist, and is sort of a continuation to family therapy. you don’t need to have read family therapy to understand this fic, but it helps!
summary: it's nesta's birthday, and her loved ones have special plans for her (that may or may not go awry). featuring nessian and nesta/lucien friendship.
The ring caught the late morning light as Cassian twisted it over and over in his hands: a gold band studded with two pearls and an oval pink diamond at the center.
It was nothing like the female he wanted to give it to, and yet it was perfect for her. Because Nesta Archeron, despite all her walls and best efforts, was inside as warm as daylight. Or at least she was to Cassian.
The familiar beep of the security system sounded as someone unlocked the apartment door, and Cassian stood up quickly from the kitchen barstool. By the time the Archeron sisters entered, the ring was shoved deep in his pocket.
He affected a huge smile, though it may have been tinged with a hint of panic. “Back already?”
“Did you miss me too much?” Nesta padded over to the open-plan kitchen and dropped a paper bag of leftovers on the island next to Cassian. “I brought you macarons.”
He murmured his thanks into a soft greeting kiss.
Feyre and Elain remained in the living room, setting gift bags onto the coffee table. “We should probably get going,” Elain smiled and clapped her hands. “If only I could see more of my own sister on her birthday, but I suppose fancy breakfast and gifts will have to do.”
Nesta scowled at her younger sisters. “I told you both you could come with me tonight. I don’t care if you’re around my friends, really.”
Feyre made a face. “No, thanks. Not that your friends scare me or anything, but I have a hot date this evening.” She flushed at the idea of her boyfriend and Elain held back an eye roll. “I don’t,” Elain stated, “but I’m taking the night to myself. Don’t worry about us, go get wrecked tonight.”
“If you insist.” Nesta moved in for a goodbye hug, something Cassian knew she still had to force herself to initiate with her family. A chorus of happy birthdays and goodbyes went around, and then the sisters were pulling apart. Cassian watched contently from the threshold between the kitchen and living room, and straightened up once Feyre and Elain were gone and Nesta was turning back to him.
She pulled slowly at one of the small ties on the neckline of her blouse, letting it come undone. “So,” she said slowly. “It’s my birthday.”
Cassian was well-aware. He’d woken up an hour early this morning to show Nesta, slowly and thoroughly, just how glad he was that she’d been born. He wasn’t so lazy that he considered orgasms birthday presents, though, so he raised his brows at Nesta starting to undress in their living room.
“You want a repeat of this morning already? If I’m being honest, I thought there would be more variety on your birthday agenda.”
Nesta’s smile dropped at the same time her shirt dropped to the ground. “Don’t delude yourself, angel. I’m getting ready to change into my sweats so we can marathon Fangs and Bangs all day.” To prove her point, her jeans fell to the ground next, and she kicked them away before spinning around to head for their bedroom.
Cassian picked her clothes up and followed after her. “Wear whatever you want, sweetheart, but put a pin in that marathon plan.”
Nesta glanced at him with a frown. “Why?”
She didn’t actually think that Cassian hadn’t planned anything for her, did she? He huffed a laugh and chucked her clothes into a hamper. “I’m not going to be seeing you all night, which means,” he flicked her nose, “I have to give you my present now.”
Getting put on patrol duties the same night of Nesta’s birthday was not ideal, but if anything, it ensured that Cassian couldn’t chicken out of his plan at the last minute. The ring sat heavy in his pocket, and he would give it to her this afternoon no matter what.
Nesta glared at him, but it was halfhearted. “I told you not to get me anything,” she said. “There’s nothing I want today except spending time with you.”
“We are spending time together,” he promised. “Just not here.”
“Then where?”
***
Their destination was beyond the borders of the city, too far for Cassian to fly them. Their motorcycle ended up rumbling to a stop some hours later at the edges of a great sunflower field.
Nesta pulled off her helmet and stared in rare wonder. Yellow and green stalks spread out in every direction, touching the horizon and going on.
She turned to Cassian, a softness in her eyes that only he ever got to see. “I’ve never seen this place before.”
“Because you haven’t wandered more than twenty miles outside of the city in years,” he ribbed.
He led her to a clear space among the flowers that was laid down with a checkered picnic blanket and spread of food. Nesta glanced at Cassian, questioning.
“This field is private property,” he explained, “but I called in a favor ahead of time.”
Over a year of dating Cassian had taught Nesta how to be more familiar with sweet gestures and moments of vulnerability, but she still lacked the words to properly respond to this.
“It's very— thank you.” She cleared her throat.
Cassian only grinned and flicked her nose, a careless gesture that told her he understood how she was feeling without her having to say it.
Their lunch date was warm and full of light, two feelings that Nesta had been a foreigner to before meeting Cassian. She’d used to think she would never be fit for soft or pretty things, but here, eating strawberries in a sundress, she felt this was as pretty as life was ever going to get.
Not long after eating, Cassian’s hand found the back of Nesta’s calf, dragging up her bare leg and pulling until she was on her back, his hulking body stretched over her. Gasping for breath between laughter, Nesta succumbed to a barrage of kisses that soon moved lower, until her giggles turned into light moans.
“I love you, you know,” he whispered from between her legs.
A bright blue sky dotted with a few wispy clouds was her view while Cassian tortured her with his mouth, and her last thought before her eyes slipped shut and she slipped into release was How perfect.
***
In a shimmery dress layered with swaying fringe, Nesta picked through the dancing bodies of Vanir and mortals alike to get to the private area off to the back of The Seven Devils club.
Nesta had made the mistake of falling asleep in Cassian’s arms after their afternoon delight, and had woken up to the sky turning ablaze with the colors of the sunset and her phone buzzing insistently.
“What are you doing,” Amren demanded when she answered. “It takes you two hours to get ready and you’re an hour away from home. Did you forget we had plans tonight?”
“Shit— wait, how do you know where I am?” Nesta said as she began grabbing for things and starting to pack, Cassian watching in alarm.
“I know where everyone is,” the mercenary said. “Get your ass back to Crescent City now.”
“Wait— we’re leaving?” Cassian had said after Nesta hung up the phone. Nesta kept packing their picnic basket, trying to hurry before it got dark.
“Thank you so much for today, angel,” she paused to say to him. Grabbing his face with both hands, she put her gratefulness into a sweet kiss and hoped it would be enough. “But we need to go. Now.”
Cassian’s hand drifted to his pocket. He looked conflicted, angry, even, but he only nodded and led Nesta back to their motorcycle.
Once they were about to part ways hours later, Cassian for his job and Nesta for her party, she’d apologized to him once more.
“It's nothing,” he assured as he smoothed down her stray baby hairs. “I just thought we'd get more time together.” He leaned in to kiss her cheek with a smile. “But we already have lots of that, don't we?”
Now, at the black velvet rope tying off the reserved area, Emerie caught sight of Nesta and greeted her with a hoot. Nesta grinned.
“Over here, birthday girl.” A drink was shoved into Nesta’s hand as Emerie led her to the circle of couches where their friends awaited.
The usual group was there: Amren, Varian, Nuan, and some Aux guys she’d gotten to know while working for her firm. But a new face made her smile drop.
“Lucien,” Nesta said stiffly. She plopped down next to him on the couch, but pointedly ignored his mocking grin.
Elain had stayed home alone tonight just so Lucien and Nesta would have the chance to spend time on their own. Nesta still wasn't sure if she appreciated the gesture or not.
They had agreed, although reluctantly, that they would try to rekindle whatever they’d had in their teenage years. Lucien hadn’t participated in one of Nesta’s birthdays as anything other than Elain’s plus one in ages, and now… Nesta snorted to herself. It was like she was eighteen again.
“What’s so funny?” Lucien asked.
“Your face.”
A crumpled straw wrapper bounced off Lucien’s head before he could reach over and pinch Nesta. “No one's tackling anyone into the cake tonight, or else it's over for the both of you,” Amren warned. Her threats were mild, but both Nesta and Lucien knew enough about what Amren did for a living to shut up and go back to ignoring each other.
Music pounded, and while her friends chatted excitedly about meeting up after so long, Nesta eyed her drink in consideration. There was no amount of alcohol in the world that would ever get her to play nice with Lucien Vanserra, but maybe a few drinks wouldn't hurt.
She took a deep swig.
***
Nesta and Lucien drunkenly stumbled out of the club, giggling while holding each other up.
“We should call a cab,” Nesta said.
“No— let's walk!” Lucien gasped. “It’s so nice out tonight.”
“Yes, yes,” Nesta nodded adamantly. “Good idea, you're so smart, Lucien.”
It was far past two in the morning, and the rest of Nesta's group had scattered like roaches over the course of the night. Many of them had left her with a big smacking kiss on her cheek and a final birthday wish; Amren had dragged Varian into a dark corner some while ago and hadn't been seen since.
Her pile of presents, most of the gifts being either wildly inappropriate or outright hilarious, had been whisked away with the help of fae magic back to her and Cassian’s apartment. She only hoped Cassian didn't return home before her and find them.
Nesta had forgotten how much fun partying with Lucien was like. They hadn't danced— or drank— together like that in years. And the huge stuffed dolphin he’d gifted her hadn't hurt. She hadn’t slept with one of those babies since she moved out of her childhood home, but he had remembered her favorite animal anyway.
Now, she leaned her head against his arm as they set off in a random direction, trying not to topple over in her high heels.
They made it only a couple of blocks before Nesta decided that fresh air was not as nice as Lucien had promised. With every breeze, a discomforting nausea grew, and the longer she walked, the more aware she was of the sharp pressure on her bladder.
“Lucien,” she finally whined, “I have to pee.”
“Hold it until we get home.”
Nesta blinked and for the first time, looked around at their surroundings. How many blocks had they walked again?
The buildings had become worn down and older, and neon lights flickered over dim alleyways. The trees that usually lined every sidewalk curb had virtually disappeared. Even while seeing double, Nesta knew something was off. “Luc,” she said slowly, “where are we?”
“Uhhh…” Brown eyes squinted up at the decaying buildings. He was drunk out of his mind. “We’re close to the Old Square, I swear.”
But Nesta recognized this area, even if she had no clue where they were exactly. “This isn’t the Old Square.” Her grip tightened on Lucien’s arm. “We’re in the Meat Market, Lucien.”
They were both quiet for a moment. Then Lucien said, “Oops.”
Oops was an understatement. They were on the other fucking side of town— the bad side of town. The shadows in the alleys had suddenly elongated, becoming darker as if they were hiding nefarious activities. The buildings seemed to stretch and curve, and it took Nesta a heartracing moment to realize that was just what alcohol did to her vision. There were no monstrous creatures, at least not this far out on the edges of the Meat Market. The crime-ridden district wasn't anything a straightminded Nesta would have ever feared, but in her current state—
“Ohh, now I’m really gonna be sick,” she muttered.
“I thought you had to pee?”
“I need to do both.” Gagging on bile, Nesta sprinted to the nearest bush to empty out the contents of her stomach. She just barely missed her dress and shoes with her aim, but she was no amateur. At least her hair had stayed in its ponytail.
“Gross,” Lucien mumbled from somewhere behind her.
Wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, Nesta closed her eyes as her insides clenched once more. When she could breathe clearly again, she rasped, “Don't look.” She started wriggling her panties down her legs. In any other state, she would have felt bad for the lone bush, but now she was just grateful that this road was seemingly deserted.
Inebriated Lucien seemed to handle urine better than vomit, because he only crossed his arms and stood guard by Nesta while she did her business, as if he could protect her in case anyone walked by (he could not, but she thought it was sweet of him to try).
When she finished, Nesta was disappointed to find that she had not sobered up in the slightest. Clarity danced right on the edges of her grasp, but she was too exhausted to reach for it. Also, her feet were killing her.
Swaying, Lucien tugged on her hand and began pulling her along. “C’mon, we’ll call a ride home and find somewhere to wait.”
“Mm, good idea.”
Lucien pulled his phone out, and Nesta paused in the middle of the road to unstrap her shoes and kick them off. Gravel bit into her bare feet, and she shivered while Lucien sloppily tapped at his phone. She hadn't noticed the cold so much while she was still having fun, but suddenly it was freezing.
After a painfully long moment of silence, Lucien finally said, “Uhh… my phone’s dead.”
Nesta hissed, but was too tired to curse him. She wrangled her own phone out of her purse, hopping back and forth on her toes. The gravel almost hurt more than her shoes, and she was pretty sure the roads were littered with glass.
Turning her phone on, she made it all the way to Cassian’s contact info when she noticed the lack of bars on the corner of her screen. She clicked on his number anyway, hoping she could reach her boyfriend through whatever obstacles technology threw at her.
Of course, the call didn't go through. An animalistic noise escaped through her gritted teeth.
Lucien jumped in fright, his gaze still hazy and out of it. “What was that?”
“The sound I make when there's no fucking signal and we're both fucking lost.”
“Wha—? Gimme that.” Lucien sloppily swiped for her phone and missed, his hand passing through the air two feet in front of Nesta. Nesta ignored him and kept tapping at her phone, starting to walk in a random direction. “There has to be a signal somewhere,” she laughed somewhat high-pitched. “You can't have organized crime without a strong mobile network, right?”
After a few minutes, however, it became clear that whatever reception the drug lords and gang members were using, Nesta couldn't get it.
Hopelessness and bone deep exhaustion setting in, she started weeping, her shoulders shaking.
“Nooo,” Lucien slurred, trying to pull her up from where she crouched on the ground, her hands over her face. “Don't cry, Nesta, ’s’your birthday.”
“It’s not my birthday anymore,” Nesta sobbed. “It's the day after and we’re lost and we’re this close to getting mugged by a gang of vampires. And it's all because you have terrible ideas.” She cried harder.
“You’ve gotta get up.” Lucien tugged at her again, letting out a whiny grunt when she didn't move. “Why are you so heavy?”
Nesta wasn't moving because he was not, in fact, pulling at her very hard. Lucien was incredibly dizzy, though, and he wanted nothing but to be back home with Elain while he regained his senses.
As he was about to give up, a great boom sounded, and a dark hulking figure dropped down onto the street before them.
“AHH, A HUGE BIRD!” Lucien shrieked and stumbled backward into Nesta.
Another winged shadow dropped from the sky, landing beside the first.
“TWO HUGE BIRDS!”
Nesta blinked, finally looking up, only to shove Lucien off herself and drunkenly run forward. She hurled herself into the arms of the first figure. “Cassian!” she cried with relief.
“Are you okay?” Her boyfriend's voice was urgent. “How’d you get all the way out here?”
“We got lost,” she wept deliriously.
“Soso lost,” Lucien slurred from behind her.
Off to the side, she heard the familiar eternally-exhausted sigh of Azriel, second-in-command of the 33rd Imperial Legion. “I’ll take that one home,” his deep voice muttered. He gestured with his chin to Lucien.
He moved to hold the fae male upright, but Lucien smacked Azriel’s arms away. “Get your ’ands off me, Ihaveagirlfriend.”
Cassian bundled Nesta up in his arms and swept her off her aching feet. “Can you handle flying, or are you gonna be sick?”
“Uhnnn…” Her head was still throbbing and spinning, but her stomach had already been emptied out into those bushes. “I’m okay,” she lied. “Take me home, Cass.”
He still looked concerned, but was about to shoot into the sky when Nesta gasped, “Wait, my shoes!”
In the background, Lucien was now poking at the toned bicep of the arm keeping him upright. “Woah there, big guy,” he said. “You single or somethin’?”
“You just said you have a girlfriend.”
“Well, we're lookin’ foraboyfriend.”
Before Azriel could respond, Cassian gritted his teeth and called for him.
“Get her shoes,” Cassian gestured. Without letting go of Lucien, Azriel bent to pick up Nesta's heels and turned and walked the both of them back to where Cassian and Nesta waited.
Nesta gratefully accepted her heels and rested them on her stomach, so her hand was free to reach out and rest on Lucien’s face. It was more of a light slap, but the affection was there. “’m so glad we did this,” she said, sleep and liquor weaved through her words.
“So am I,” Lucien mumbled tiredly. He leaned in with a kiss aimed for her forehead, which ended up glancing off the side of her nose. “See you.”
“Bye-bye,” she said quietly, and then Lucien and Azriel were off in the opposite direction, and Cassian and Nesta were in the air.
***
Back in the warmth of their apartment, Cassian helped Nesta stumble toward the bedroom, pulling her away from the living area before she could collapse onto the couch and not get up again.
Herding Nesta onto the bed, Cassian got to work on shimmying her minidress down her body. “You’ve had quite the night,” he noted as he pulled off her dress and reached to unhook her pushup bra. “Good birthday?”
“Would’ve been even better with you,” Nesta said sweetly. His heart caught at the sleepy smile she gave him, and he cursed the ring weighing down his pocket for the hundredth time that day. He would have to wait for the right moment— again.
Nesta started babbling drunkenly about how fun her night had been, and then how terrible it had become, and how much more she liked Lucien now, even if he did have terrible ideas, before eventually circling back around to the topic of presents. “I can’t wait to show you what I got.” She tried winking at him, but in her state, it was just a very slow blink.
Cassian had indeed spied a red scrap of lace sticking out of a gift bag on his way through the living room, but lingerie was the last concern on his mind right now. “I’m glad you had fun with Lucien,” he said honestly as he eased Nesta into one of his T-shirts.
“Will you get me his gift?” she yawned. “It’s the soft…” she struggled for the word, “big fishy. Go get it, Cass.”
Chuckling lowly, Cassian dutifully searched the living room until he spotted a freakishly life-sized stuffed dolphin. When he returned to their bedroom with it in tow, Nesta was dead asleep.
Carefully, he tucked the plush dolphin next to her head before covering her with a throw blanket.
Yes, Cassian had ended up being the only person who hadn't given Nesta a present— not her real present, anyway. But perhaps it was for the best, he thought as he sat on the edge of the bed, pulling her sore feet into his lap. Nothing about the woman in front of him was worth rushing, and as long as she was happy tonight, tomorrow, and all the days after…
Well, what more could Cassian want for?

Tyr
He is the God of war, and the bravest of all the Gods in Norse mythology. Tyr is interested in justice and with fair treaties, which makes him a God of law as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The reason why Tyr is the bravest of all the Gods is because of his most written story:
He once put his hand into the jaws of the gigantic evil wolf Fenrir. He did this while the other Gods bound Fenrir to a rock. When Fenrir saw this, he became suspicious, and declared that he would only allow the gods to put it around him if one of them would stick an arm in his mouth as a pledge of good faith. At last,  when the wolf noticed that he could not get free from the chains, he became furious and ripped Tyr’s right hand
Tumblr media
And there in that chain, the giant wolf remained in that sordid state until Ragnarok.
Freyr
Tumblr media
the central god of peace, prosperity, sunshine and with good harvest. Freyr is in particular associated with the horse cult, and in the Hrafnkels saga, a noble Gothi once killed a man for riding a horse that he had dedicated to the god.
Thor
The champion of Asgard, Thor’s job is to protect both it and Midgard from the likes of the Jotnar, the giants of Jötunheimr.
Tumblr media
He has two children: Modi and Magni
Tumblr media
Vidar
is the god of vengeance. A member of the Æsir, he is the son of Odin and the giantess Gríðr. To be honest, Vidar isn’t really an important God. Virtually all of the references to him Norse mythology are concerned with his role in Ragnarok; we know little to nothing about his origin or function outside of his one particular role at the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally, I only saw two things for Connie’s role in this story — Sasha’s comedic counterpart and someone who will justice for Ragako (however that justice might look like). Given that Sasha is gone and the series has taken a serious route, there is only one role left for him to finish
Eren’s soul: Fenrir
Is the half-giant wolf of Norse mythology. The Æsir gods raised Fenrir themselves in order to keep him under their control and prevent him from wreaking havoc throughout the Nine Worlds. Fenrir however, grew at an astonishingly fast pace, and eventually the troubled gods decided to chain him up.
Tumblr media
Eren’s titan: Jormungandr
The biggest beast in Norse mythology, he's a sea serpent who was imprisoned into the sea by Odin and is fated to rise during Ragnarok. In literature and prayers,  he symbolizes the destructive forces of nature, with everything from hurricanes, tornadoes, vulcanism, earthquakes, etc... His greatest foe is Thor
Tumblr media
Before Ragnarok:
In Norse mythology, gods belong to either one of two tribes: the Æsir and the Vanir. And these tribes fought a lot. They fought so much that Prose Edda had poems entirely dedicated to the War of the Gods.
On the other hand, the Giants (Jotun) came before these two tribes and lived in in Jötunheimr, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. They were banished there by the Gods, who refused them entry to their world, Asgard. In the ancient Norse stories, the Giants frequently interact with the Æsir and the Vanir, but they are usually in opposition with them.
The Æsir fought by the rules of plain combat, with weapons and brute force, while the Vanir used the subtler means of magic.
Loki is the mixed-blood son of a goddess and a male Jotun. His role in Norse mythology is unique and controversial since he appears to both help the gods and hinder them. According to the story, Loki tricked the blind god of winter Hod, an action that resulted in the death of the god Baldr, the shining god beloved by everyone.

Because of this, he was punished and cast into a cliff where he was to remain bound to a rock until Ragnarok, the end of the world.

Baldr’s death is one of the many signs that will fortell Ragnarok. First, there will come a great Winter “Fimbulvetr” which will last for years. Brothers will slay brother, father will slay son, and son will slay father. It will be an age of war
Tumblr media
Next, the wolves Skoll and Hati (Fenrir’s sons) who have hunted the sun and the moon for a very long time, will at last catch their prey.
Tumblr media
Loki will escape his prison to join the other Giants.
Tumblr media
the chains that has been holding back the monstrous wolf Fenrir will snap, and the beast will run free.
Tumblr media
Jormungandr, the mighty serpent who dwells at the bottom of the ocean and encircles the land, will rise from the depths, spilling the seas over all the earth as he makes landfall.
Tumblr media
These convulsions will shake the ship Naglfar (“Nail Ship”) free from its moorings. This ship, which is made from the fingernails and toenails of dead men and women, will sail easily over the flooded earth. Its crew will be an army of giants, the forces of chaos and destruction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fenrir, with fire blazing from his eyes and nostrils, will run across the earth, with his lower jaw on the ground and his upper jaw against the top of the sky, devouring everything in his path. Jormungand will spit his venom over all the world, poisoning land, water, and air alike.
Tumblr media
The gods who have been warring all these time, will decide to join arms and go to battle, even though they know what the prophecies have foretold concerning the outcome of this clash.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They will meet their enemies on a battlefield called Vigrid (Old Norse Vígríðr, “Plain Where Battle Surges”
An ominous horn blast will ring out; this will be Heimdall, the divine sentry, blowing the Gjallarhorn to announce the arrival of the moment the gods have feared. He will be the first one to stop the giants
Tumblr media
Odin will anxiously consult the head of Mimir, the wisest of all beings, for counsel. Odin will face Fenrir, and by his side will be the Einherjar, the host of his chosen dead human warriors whom has preserved in Valhalla for just this moment.
Tumblr media
During Ragnarok:
Odin and the champions of men will fight more valiantly than anyone has ever fought before. But it will not be enough. Fenrir will swallow Odin and his men.
Then one of Odin’s sons, Vidar, burning with rage, will charge the beast to avenge his father. He will stab his sword through the wolf’s throat, killing him.
Heimdall and his archenemy Loki will do the same, putting a final end to the trickster’s treachery. Both will inflict fatal wounds on each other, but Loki refuses to die until he sees the destruction of the worlds which happened soon after. They both died next to each other
Tyr will perish fighting Fenrir. The wolf will bite his remaining hand and he will bleed out, but not before he gives the beast a mortal wound
The god Freyr and a fire giant will also be the end of each other.
Thor and Jormungand, those age-old foes, will both finally have their chance to kill the other. Thor will succeed in felling the great snake with the blows of his hammer. But the serpent will have covered him in so much venom that he will not be able to stand for much longer; he will take nine paces before falling dead himself and adding his blood to the already-saturated soil of Vigrid
Tumblr media
After all these, these gods will die, the giants will alight the world in flame, until a flood finally covers the world.
After Ragnarok:
Several of the Gods will survive, among them is Odin’s sons Vidar. Thor’s sons Modi and Magni will also survive, inheriting their father’s hammer Mjölnir.
While most of the Gods will die in the mutual destruction with the Giants, it is predetermined that a new world will rise up from the water, beautiful and green. Before the battle of Ragnarok, a woman and a man, Lif “life” and Liftraser “lover of life”, will find shelter from the cataclysm in a place called the “Wood of Hoddmimir” (Hoddmímis holt).
Tumblr media
They will now come out and populate the lush land in which they will find themselves. A new sun, the daughter of the previous one, will rise in the sky. And all of this will be presided over by a new, almighty ruler.

After Ragnarok” by Emil Doepler (1905)
The significance of Ravens in Norse mythology
Ravens are found everywhere in Prose Edda, a collection of poems detailing the legends of Old Norse. It is the holy bird circling around Odin
In Norse mythology, Huginn ( "thought") and Muninn ("memory") are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world and relay information to him, causing Odin to become very wise.
Now I know I just said that Hange is supposed to play Odin during Ragnarok, but given the bird’s role in the Norse story, and all the perspectives being dropped, I think it’s safe to say that Eren’s been hearing his enemies pretty well, as well as seeing the literal bird’s eye perspective of the entire war
Tumblr media
Anyway, these are all the Norse references I saw during the Marley arc onwards. What do you think? How do you foresee the final battle ending?
