So imagine: when the whole "If I have to die, I have to die" dialogue comes around during the revealing of the prophecy, this song starts playing as percy storms out the room in anger and disbelief. He just goes to his rooms and buries his face in the pillow and starts sobbing with this song in the background. Summary: Unbeknownst to you, Astarion has realised that perhaps his plan is falling apart, you have felt him distancing himself for a few days. You now arrive at last light inn where one night Alfira asks you to perform one of your latest songs. Which leads to you and Astarion alone in your quarters later.

Notes: Ive written this based around a song by vance joy, there will be the use of the lyrics from the song (maybe a few changed lyrics) for the plot of this story, so you will be reading the song lyrics - if you wish to listen to how its meant to be sung, the song is called “Im with you” - I suck at fanfic writing but I day dream a lot and since hearing this song I have had this “encounter” in my head so I like to get it out.

He’s been distant, and you don't know why. You spend your time lost in thought, replaying moments in your mind, searching for what you might have done to push him away. He hasn't sought you out for his daily feeds either, which surely means he must be growing weak. The last time you were alone together was two days after obliterating the Githyanki Creche. You wonder if he's still mad about the blast from that weapon you triggered. But you'd asked him multiple times if he had forgiven you, and he had reassured you that it was in the past. He had even warned you that next time he would be the one to wield the powerful weapon, as if he were more responsible than you.

You arrived at Last Light Inn in what you believe to be the early hours of the morning, though time feels different here. Your companions insisted you take the single room available, with its own bed and privacy. Perhaps they don’t know that Astarion hasn’t visited you for the past three nights…

Three nights ago, you had quietly slipped into his tent for him to feed on you. You remember how gently he laid you down, cradling your head with his arm as he carefully kissed your neck before sinking his teeth in. You can still feel his other hand cupping your cheek, his thumb tracing loving circles around your jaw. His soft moans as he drank you in echoed in your mind. After he had his fill, he placed another tender kiss on your wounds and slowly pulled you into a long, slow kiss that felt earth-shatteringly intimate, something you had never felt from him before. Remembering the feel of his cold hands exploring your body with such tenderness and purpose sends a shiver through you, as if you can still feel his touch. The breathlessness you both shared while tangled together in a night of passion, only to wake up the next morning with him already gone. You wondered if you had imagined the love radiating from him.

But now, there is nothing but silence. Eye contact avoided. Your chest feels as if it has caved in. You don’t know how to repair this, so you do what you know best. You pick up your lute and begin to compose. After what seems like an eternity of trying to collect your thoughts, you compose something that perfectly captures how you feel in this moment. Yet, the heaviness still weighs deeply within you. Sighing to yourself, you set down the paper and your lute and decide to purchase a drink at the bar.

“It’s you!” A familiar voice calls out from across the room. You lift your head to see the friendly face of Alfira, a fellow bard. You meet her smile with one just as wide and pull her into a warm embrace.

“I’m so glad you made it here, Alfira! I hope you’ve been keeping yourself out of trouble!” you say, holding her at arm’s length, taking her in. She seems healthy and safe.

“Well, it’s all thanks to you, Tav! I’ve been keeping out of trouble, just working on my music. In fact, I’ve been providing entertainment here for a while. I thought this place needed some nightly music to lift everyone’s spirits… OH! YES! I have the BEST idea!”

You know where this is going, and you don’t like it.

“You need to play here tonight, Tav! Please!” Her eyes are practically sparkling with excitement.

“Look, Alfira, I’m sure nobody wants to hear my stuff. Yours is probably way more interesting.”

“Nonsense.” She looks around the bar and loudly announces, “Who wants to hear Tav tonight instead of me?”

Gale, being Gale, yells in agreement, and the rest of the bar follows suit. You shoot daggers at him, who holds his hands up in surrender, offering an apologetic smile.

“I suppose I can, but one song only, Alfira.” You offer her a small smile. One song—you can handle it. It will be fine.

“Amazing! I heard some music coming from your room before, which is why I came inside. I’d like to hear that one, please! OH, I can’t wait. This is going to be AMAZING!”

Before you can protest the song choice, she gives you a quick hug and exits the building, spreading the news of your performance.

You spent the rest of the day polishing the lyrics of the song, and the time has finally come to head out and wait for Alfira to bring you up on the makeshift stage set in the corner of the room.

“We have an exceptional surprise for you all tonight! Our very own Tav will be performing one of her latest compositions! Please help me in welcoming her up!” Alfira extends her hand out and you sheepishly take it to hop up on the platform. Casting a look around the room you take a moment to compose yourself, this is what you did for a living before all hell broke loose. You can do this… and that’s when you see him lingering in the back, swirling his drink in his hand, his gaze completely fixed on you. You inhale deeply and you begin to play your new song, your stare never leaving his as you sing…

“I saw you standing there, the curls in your hair, the way it came tumbling down, just like a waterfall. And if you need a light I’ll be the match to your candle My Darling I’m ready, to burst into flames for you.”

Holding his stare you see something flicker in those ruby eyes but you continue without faltering.

“I was just coasting till we met. You remind me just how good it can get..

Well I’ve been on fire dreaming of you Tell me you don’t, it feels like you do Looking like that you’ll open some wounds… How does is start and when does it end? I’ve only been here for a moment but I know I want you But is it too soon? To know that I’m with you? There’s nothing I can do”

You concluded the song, and the entire Last Light Inn erupted in cheers and hollers of approval. It had been a long time since you had experienced such genuine appreciation for your music, and your heart swelled with gratitude. You offered a small bow from the waist and made your way off the platform, shaking a few hands along the way. Alfira had returned to the stage, and the entertainment resumed.

After a brief conversation with some of your companions, you excuse yourself and head to your room. Placing your lute gently on the table, you begin to prepare for bed, starting to undress. As you stand in your underclothes, a sudden chill envelops you from behind, causing your body to tense. You inhale a familiar scent - bergamot, rosemary, and a hint of aged brandy - and realize that you are not alone.

"Hello, darling," he breathes into your ear as he places a hand on your bare waist, sending a cold shiver down your spine. You slowly turn to face him, lifting your gaze to meet his. A thousand questions scream in your eyes, and you can tell he clearly sees them.. Before you can even form a sentence his mouth is on yours, with heated desperation his hands moving across the fullness of your body, taking you in, holding you as if he would never hold you again. Your questions vanish and nothing but desire flows through you down to your precious core that is aching with need for him. In an instant he’s guided you to the bed in the corner, placing you down, his kisses never missing a beat as he undresses you. The peaks of your breasts swell with anticipation as he scatters kisses down your neck, across your collarbone and eventually sucks in one of the tender peaks. A moan escapes your lips as you feel his hand moving toward your core.

He finds the bundle of nerves that eagerly await his touch and he begins rubbing slow circles around your clit.

“Astarion.’ You breathe out in a soft moan that sends him trailing kisses down your body until his head is at your very centre. You arch your back in anticipation, your body begging his mouth to find its home.

He lets out a soft growl as he buries his head in you, his tongue expertly delivering long calculated strokes, flicks and swirls. As he feels your body nearing its end he curls two fingers inside you and pumps them in and out while completely devouring you. You feel yourself becoming light headed and your body shaking as the wave comes crashing down. You let out a loud moan as you completely shatter around his face.

Astarion comes back up to you slowly cleaning his fingers off with his mouth while never breaking his stare. He slowly brings his face to yours kissing you deeply and you feel his hardness through his clothes pressing against you. A soft gasp escapes your lips as he undoes his trousers, springing free you feel his hardened flesh on yours.

While never breaking his kiss he slowly eases himself into you, the two of you exhaling the moment he fills and stretches you. He moves in and out in a slow rhythm, one almost matching the composition you had performed earlier. You can feel the passion and heat with every kiss and every pump that fills you.

“Astarion…” you whisper between his kisses, his pace quickens as if a torch had been lit under him, he drives into you harder, faster more desperate and you can feel him reaching his end. You are not even aware that you are doing it, its as if its become instinct, you turn your head exposing your neck, an invitation for him to have complete satisfaction. Without hesitation he sinks in groaning so loud you swore you felt the bed shake. You can feel his body starting to twitch and buckle as he comes undone, you find yourself exploding in ecstasy with him.

The two of you lay there, breathing heavy. All is silent for a moment until his gaze meets yours.

“Why?” You manage to choke out, your throat tightening. You wish you could demand answers, explain your hurt, anything but this pathetic whimpering mess. Your eyes are stinging while you hold back tears, screaming to yourself in your mind that you will NOT cry.

Astarion’s ruby eyes slowly scan your face, understanding flickering through them and his face softens; you think you see a hint of shame there.

“I was afraid,” he whispered softly. “I… I’m not good for you, Tav.”

You look at him and place a hand on his face. “Let me decide what is good for me. Please. It's okay to be afraid… I thought I had done something wrong. I thought… I thought you grew tired of me.”

Pain flickers across his features that vanishes all too quickly and is replaced with a quiet chuckle. “You do everything right, Tav… I cannot fault you on anything. As for growing tired of you? I don’t think I would ever be capable of doing that… ever… and perhaps that’s what scares me the most.”

You understand now. For an immortal, growing close to someone must be a frightening thing. Maybe, just maybe, the two of you could find a way for you to be with him forever.

You keep your thoughts to yourself and softly place a kiss on his lips.

He smiles and whispers, “For the record, Love, I’m with you too.”

I Believe in Love

This is THE Ianthony Reunion Song to me. I mean, the lyrics are literally about two people coming back together and being willing to try again because the connection is still there. I think this song really captures what’s so magical about Ian and Anthony’s connection to me. It’s about finding someone who just gets you, it’s about finding yourself, it’s about coming back stronger and building something better. Together! (Also, is my obsession with the Indigo Girls showing?)

I’d Really Love to See You Tonight

Before we get into it, I’d just like to make a plug for this song and say I think it slaps. Anyways, this song gives me late-night pining, what-if’s. It’s the seed being planted; the idea of hanging out again finally coming around after years of surface-level contact. It also represents how I figure they probably wanted to take it slow, get to know the new versions of each other again. (Ironic, considering it took them all of 1 year to go from having friends around because it would be too awkward to hang out 1-on-1 to buying back Smosh). The line ‘it’s been such a long time/and I really do miss your smile’ also just reminds me of how proud Ian and Anthony look when they make each other laugh. The Trivial Pursuit TNTL shows this so well- they have tons of fun just laughing together!

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?: The obvious answer for this is Riptide by Vance Joy and I think almost everyone can agree to this. But also the song I Wanna Be Yours by Arctic Monkeys just gives me the feels I don't know how to explain but the lyrics, they feel like something which Percy would actually sing.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character: Okay I am not the best when it comes to fashion but I believe Annabeth has her eras of dressing up. But if talk about overall then I think light academia fits her. It would be casual mostly and I am sure 70% of the time she practically wears Percy's hoodies but still once in a while when she dresses up for a party or date or just anything actually I think she'll go with something like this. I don't know I might be wrong but I just see her in these outfits for some reason.

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?: Ooohh a controversial question I see! I absolutely hate her with Luke because of obvious reasons and I think I don't even need to explain why. Also I've seen her shipped with Piper and like not hate to pipabeth shippers (I can understand where they are coming from) but idk just why I don't ship them together! I see them as platonic friends only and maybe Piper had a tiny crush on Annabeth but I think it wears off when she meets Shel. So yeah I think that's all. Annabeth isn't really a character who I have seen being weirdly shipped if you know what I mean.

ever since they decided riptide was gonna be the promo song for the show, i've seen a lot of takes--it's ridiculous, it's campy, it's 2012 fan-made mv vibes, it's eerie, it's fun, it's stupid, it's perfect--but what it seems like everyone agrees on, is that the only real connection to percy jackson is the title also being the name of his beloved sword. i'm not saying that connection isn't enough by itself.. but i do think we could go a little deeper hehe so let's break down these lyrics, shall we? <3

**Riptide by Vance Joy Through the Lens of Percy Jackson**

I was scared of dentists and the dark

beautiful intro line to get us in the headspace of the literal child that is 12yo percy jackson.. maybe he was scared of dentists, who knows? but the point is that these are the kind of fears that a parent might be there to hold a child's hand through, and percy never had anyone but sally to do that. this line prepares us for just how strong of an impact the loss of her will be.

I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations

this is percy "stands in the corner playing basketball at the school dance" jackson. it's him losing his words when he notices how pretty annabeth is, but it's also an indication of his placement in the social hierarchy of his peers up until this point.

Oh, all my friends are turning green

green with jealousy because he has all the power of a child of the big 3? because he gets granted a quest on like day fucking one at camp? because he's a naturally talented sword-fighter to rival luke? .. or green because he's finally seeing the world as it is through his god-given green eyes? or green like kelp and algae and the tint of the sea as he befriends creatures in his father's domain?

You're the magician's assistant in their dream

i think if you see luke as the magician, with his tricks and lies, you could easily attribute this line to annabeth--i mean he did want her with him in his backwards dreams. he also saw her following him in dreams of the past, and saw her in the dream conjured by the river styx. but!! i think this line could also refer well to luke himself, where the magician is kronos.

Lady, running down to the riptide

first, i think of percy running straight for the riptide as a representation of how accepting he's a demigod and a child of poseidon also pulls him in deep into this narrative that has been constructed around him, both in regard to zeus's bolt and also the great prophecy as a whole. but, i think this could also be addressing annabeth, rushing toward percy (water, riptide, etc. you get the picture) and counting on him to take her away from the shore (camp). another option here, if we stick with luke as the person being addressed, is his being called and swept up by the seething rage and indignation that spirals him away from the calmer tides and into the hands of kronos, which....

Taken away to the dark side

yeah, this could very easily be referring to kronos. we can also use it for percy and annabeth both when thinking about the quest that took them to the underworld, which is quite literally the dark side. i also think it could refer to the darker side of the life of a demigod.. by percy stepping up to accept his identity, his eyes are opened to the monsters and manipulative gods and backstabbing (literally) friends and the vague promise of his own death.

okay stay with me now.. sally pov to percy. like he's up on that metaphorical stage all alone and doing his best and he's gonna fail sometimes but he's singing his own song, the song he was always meant to sing *cries*. another option of this is annabeth looking at percy, who almost always gets the words wrong, but it's so enduring--seaweed brain (affectionate). we also have the potential for annabeth to be looking at luke and saying this, only his wrong words were the path he chose, and the lump in her throat is the pain of watching him betray her trust again and again. along those lines, i think there's also an argument here for the percy @ annabeth pov that i would be inclined to associate with this song... because he loves her and the hope and the trust she carries with her, but he sees the way those beautiful traits of hers make it difficult to see luke for the monster that he's become--right tune, wrong words.

a movie percy would think annabeth would like perhaps? annabeth ran away from home and wound up in new york. before that, she had been basically cast aside to collect cobwebs by her parents. when we meet her at the beginning too, she's very much been set on the highest shelf in the way that she's been set aside despite so desperately wanting a quest. but there's also the case that the movie being referred to here is about luke, who ends up running from himself in the sense that he chooses to stand opposite both his father and the family he created for himself after heading to new york. in that case, there's also the possible attribution of the object living on the highest shelf to thalia, whose tree luke would have looked at every day as a reminder of his cause, but who would have been unable to say anything herself, stuck collecting dust, so to say.

okay talk about percabeth coding.. percy's "annabeth don't" when he thought she was gonna join the hunters. annabeth freaking out after he came back from ogygia. percy printing the picture she sent becuase he couldn't trust that it (she, chb, etc.) was real. "you're not getting away from me, never again." etc. etc. etc. (please feel free to continue spiraling in this vein as i know i will). it's also giving luke and his manipulation tactics tho ngl..

we (percy) support our queen (annabeth). i could get lost in the percabeth of this all, but i also think it's important to go back to a previous pov we mentioned.. sally's as she watches percy go off on his own. and if the she in question is percy from sally's pov, it's his success that she sees, his happy ending, the one she's been willing upon him from day one. there's also the potential of this line to be about sally from percy's pov. he loves his mom and he's proud of her, and he'll do anything to bring her back from the underworld so that she can live the life she deserves.

(pink in the night - mitski) this one is a doozy. haze started to fall first, even though they'd never admit how early, and kept their growing feelings close to their chest, never really admitting to anyone. their first kiss was actually a series of kisses; haze had never done it before & they wanted so badly to do it right, and they're very thankful wilbur was patient and let them figure it out. they've only kissed twice since then and haze is too shy to even daydream about it, let alone ask for more. on the flipside, in group settings haze is often somewhat removed, whether by choice or happenstance, but more often than not they're looking at wilbur even when someone else is the center of her attention

2023 Spotify Wrapped - Friendship Bracelets

Note: I started drinking wine towards the end of this one, might edit later. <3

Appearances: the bracelets appear in three shots of the video.

Relative Position: between to the Devil & Angel on her shoulder and the Burning House in the palm of her hand

Location: They are worn on her right wrist/arm.

Appearances - The bracelets first appear partially obscured in the establishing shot of the burning house, only Cruel Summer is obvious at this point in the video. They're partially visible for a second time in the shot of the 'snow' globe at which point August is legible, they're only fully revealed in the final scene. Their obfuscation is not merely due to cropping her arm moves extending further out of the mountain for the reveal which suggests intentional framing and timing. This links Cruel Summer to the burning house and August to the 'snow' globe.

Relative Position and Location - They are positioned between the Devil & Angel, and the Burning House. The bracelets are worn on her right arm while her left arm and hand are hidden within the mountain. TS signs autographs right handed but she plays guitar with her left.

Why is the left hand hidden? It's a common saying that "the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing," in business this refers to problems coming up because different departments of a company are oblivious to one another's actions and functions. However, the saying originates from Christian scripture "one should not let the left hand know what the right hand is doing" which means that when you perform charitable acts you shouldn't publicize them: you should do good for the sake of itself not for the sake of appearances. Also in Christian scripture, Jesus is said to sit at the right hand of God, and the implied meaning is one of equality with God and being set above all else. [5]

So perhaps it's that she values her relationships and love above everything else, that she has things to hide, and/or that she is internally conflicted.

To be somebodies right hand man is to be an assistant/helper who you trust completely and rely upon, whereas to be somebodies left-hand man is to be "A man who is being seen on the side by a woman who has another man who is her boyfriend" [4] TS once played a cover of Riptide by Vance Joy on BBC Radio 1 which has the chorus lyric "Lady, running down to the riptide taken away to the dark side I wanna be your left-hand man, I love you…" [8] [9] she smiles an awful lot while she's singing that one. :D

Does the position of each individual tableau within the overall composition point to relationships between the elements?

Notably the adjacent burning house is not the original lover house, it's the newer one with the larger central rooms yet it is engulfed in orange/red flames. In the Eras Tour visuals the original house with its narrow closets burns down at the end of the Lover set in orange flames, while the new house burns during Bad Blood with blue flames. So, why the swap?

In John Milton's fan-fiction of the Bible, Paradise Lost, the "red right hand" is the vengeful hand of God. Red Right Hand is also the title of a song by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in the words of the songs co-writer Mick Harvey, it describes "a shadowy, alluring, and manipulative figure, stalking the land and striking a combination of fear and awe everywhere he goes … seemingly part deity, part demon" [6] [7] Given the adjacent Devil/Angel this seems relevant.

If she was having an affair with a woman who was married that would present a lot of internal conflict and tie all these symbols together very neatly. Remember the line in Ivy "He's going to burn this house to the ground" maybe she and the person referenced in Cruel Summer were having an affair and got caught?

Number of bracelets - She's wearing eight friendship bracelets but only four of them include letter beads, so the number of additional bracelets added is a choice. What might eight represent?

TS is a musician and there are eight notes in an octave, it could be something that simple but this is TS. 8 is a rotated infinity symbol and Taylor wore an Infinity bracelet throughout The Long Pond Studio Sessions.

Folklore is her eighth studio album and there were eight versions of Folklore released. The eighth song of her eighth album is August which is also the eighth month of the year. There was an eight minute long standing ovation for Champagne Problems during the Eras tour, it stopped at that time because she stopped it. [1] Y'all I think she really likes the number eight...

In terms of mathematics and etymology eight can be considered the first composite number consisting of the duality of two fours. [2] In numerology eight is associated with; renewal, money, power, the creation and destruction of empires, balance, and of course infinity. [3]

In astrology the eighth sign of the Zodiac is Scorpio and eight is numerically associated with the planet Saturn, in the song Seven, also on Folklore, "Your braid like a pattern, Love you to the moon and to Saturn, Passed down like folk songs, The love lasts so long." August is a song about "a moment in time" but eight is infinity.

Songs - The beads on the bracelets spell out: Cruel Summer, AntiHero, Karma, and August and the letter beads are pink, purple, and blue the bi-pride flag colours. This is reminiscent of the Instagram photo of the bi-pride bracelet back in the Lover promo era. I love this repeated motif because it encourages the belief that "none of it was accidental." The other beads that make up the bracelet include all the colours of the rainbow. It's giving "Gay Pride makes me, me."

The other shape beads on the bracelets are stars and hearts, which admittedly are common bead shapes bought in kits but they also support astrological and romantic interpretations of the bracelets.

Cruel Summer & August are often discussed as sapphic songs, AntiHero and Karma less so.

Although, if AntiHero includes a theme of feeling guilty over closeting herself for so long (instead of being the hero from The Archer) then it might finally explain the whole it's not Purple glitter it's Blue thing which would be nice.

The music video for Karma has scenes of TS as justice balancing the scales, as a demon/the devil removing a mask, of an infinity symbol in the form of an hour glass filled with lavender glitter, of TS and Ice Spice lassoing the Moon & Saturn, and TS as a mountain. Karma is the key that ties the rest together.

Karma also includes TS skipping down the yellow brick road in Oz in ruby slippers but she's not wearing a Dorothy costume - perhaps because she's a Friend of Dorothy? [10]

While exploring my Spotify a couple weeks ago, I discovered the song "Sisyphus" by Andrew Bird. I was immediately drawn in by a whistling riff with mysterious flat blues notes that sounded like it could be right our of an old country-western film. The song as a whole carries on that southern feel, but also incorporates folk-rock elements to create a sound that felt so novel. So, I thought I'd explore the rest of the album- My Finest Work yet- to see if Andrew Bird could be my new musical obsession.

Doing some background research into Andrew, I found that he has been making and releasing music since 1996, with this album being his twelfth out of sixteen! With so many albums, he has really tried it all in terms of genres ranging from various swing to indie rock to folk. My Finest Work Yet, released in 2019, is categorized as indie-rock with and 'undercurrent' of folk, which confirmed my initial impression from "Sisyphus", but I feel that folk and country play a more central role in the creation of the sound.

As I listened I took notes on each song, and some key features that were reoccurring were things like whistling, strings, cello plucking, and prominent drums. It turns out that he is actually known for his whistling- quite ironic with a last name like bird. He also grew up playing the violin, which explains why these are both sonic signatures of his songs. Andrew himself has a very jazzy voice that is reminiscent of Father John Misty, Bon Iver, and Vance Joy. Much of this album also reminded me of Bob Dylan in the way that it commented on society's lack of empathy in "Archipelago", the tragedies of global warming in "Manifest", and how we are setting future generations up for failure in "Don The Struggle". It's one of those situations where the first time listening you're thinking about the catchy chorus, but by the second and third listen the actual meaning behind the lyrics hits you, adding a whole new element to the listening experience.

Overall, this album gets four and a half stars out of five for me. I absolutely love how Andrew bring genres together in a new and innovative way, and the fact that he uses his platform to share his perspective on society. The half point is taken off just because I am in a phase right now where I am attracted to more punk-rock sounds, so the more composed and vibey nature of this album is just not what is in my current rotation. I will definitely be listening to this again in the future though, and am excited to explore the variety of his discography!
