So a bit ago the silt verses discord group discussed like ‘duo names’ and we didn’t get that far but I would like to use them as tags so:

- Ranefall: Faulkner & Rane (not romantic not platonic but a secret third thing)

(We never landed on a definitive one for Hayward and Paige)

if val had created shrue’s family, which I am inclined to believe, I think about shrue forsaking their rights to personhood when becoming a politician, becoming an idol, melting into the system. with VAL, also, forsaking her right to personhood, becoming the system itself, the very narrative that, to function, must be run off of lies. thinking about val being the one person to know shrue most intimately, an inhuman saint that created their family, created something so intricate and so delicate as a family. how that family is one of the many romantic perversions that worm their ways into the narrative, a narrative that continues to reject romance, where it keeps occurring in twisted intrusions forced upon the characters. it’s cold and calculated, romance, something to keep you docile, your family, their safety, on the line to prevent any meaningful change to the society you live under. fabricated by a barely-human thing constructed by power and fueled by the hatred of her own mother. in the end, it leaves shrue a person built of fabrications, puzzle-pieces in the wrong places, with the minutia of their life known only by a war-saint.
