Happy New Years!! This year was... rough and chaotic, especially in real life for me and it definitely reflects in the numbers. I think with chapters it's mostly due to the fact Midnight Beach's last few chapters were posted at the end of the year and I began UTM, WFMF, and OFL in 2023 while they were/are ongoing shows.

Mentally, emotionally, and physically, this year was a lot. I had many ups and downs, I suffered from kidney stones for nearly a whole week for the first time, I moved twice (once in 2023 and twice this year), I started uni and dropped out, I OFFICALLY officially became an adult at 20. It was a grueling year lmao but of course, I was happy to continue chatting with you guys and seeing what you guys thought about things.

Presumably, 2025 isn't going to be easy as I'll be going into the year STILL in the process of the second move and job hunting. My activity and motivation will continue fluctuating but thus is the burden of growing. Conversion Corner: Even More Castlevania Spells part 1

Ice Fang

And we’re back with a new set of Castlevania spells, because between it and Bloodstained, I really can’t get enough of some of the fun ideas Metroidvania games conjure up.

Most of these are going to be drawn from the arsenal of Charlotte Aulin from Portrait of Ruin, which is understandable. She is, after all, one of the most diverse “mage” characters in the franchise.

In any case, the ice fang spell primarily used by Charlotte, but there are highly similar effects used by Shanoa in Order of Ecclesia and Soma Cruz in Dawn of Sorrow. Essentially, the spell creates a series of icicles in a path, conjuring from below and potentially above to pierce foes within the area, making for a nice linear area of icy death before her.

DESCRIPTION

You summon forth icicles from the ground in a line (or from magic circles in a line if cast in the air) that deals 1d6 points of damage (half cold, half piercing) per caster level (maximum 10d6) to each creature within its area.

The icicles are evoked rather than summoned, vanishing as soon as the spell resolves. However, if cast in an enclosed area with a 5-foot ceiling, the spell also conjures icicles from the ceiling as well, which meet and interlace with their ground counterparts. This deals 1 extra point of damage per die and grants a +1 bonus to the spells save DC.

Naturally, this spell was based on lightning bolt, but it proves to be an interesting alternative option with an additional bonus effect in the right circumstances.
