The night is not too still. A wind carries the crisp scents of pine and damp soil from a recent rain that had passed over. There are cries of night birds and the rustle of nocturnal beasts, an undisturbed twilight where the moon has risen to watch over its domain of dark and star-strewn canvas.

And here is just two idling beings that seem so similar in their lucid shades and how each may yet see the ends of Eternity one day. Amalthea rarely spurns the company of strangers, whether man or beast or things from Beyond Knowing. She is old and traveled from horizon to horizon, slipping between the thin threads of the world and into different places. In all of these secret spaces and planes steeped in mist or floating in depthless oceans of cloud, she finds the new and the old and the unknown.

In her human guise - if one could call it that, for how etherealness clings to her even now - she turns slightly to peer at Regulus. His quiet confession weighing the air like stones and she wonders, always wonders, what he might be missing within himself to think it wise to love her.

"No," she says softly and with an echo of sorrow, "love for me is folly. I will bring you only emptiness, for I cannot love you in return." Cannot or will not? Is there a difference to her? She had seen firsthand obsession and love tangled, stolen the meaning and happiness from others until they wasted away. Loving her was always folly.

When his hand lifts too close to her head, the unicorn flinches, startled by the unexpected proximity. The nervous exhale of breath misting from her nose that quickly soothes to steadiness again - she has no reason to fear or be anxious, merely unused to others touching her.

The unicorn allows the gesture though; the press of his palm just between her ears, fingers brushing through the cirrus-soft strands of her mane. She's warm and cool all at once, softer than velvet and the gloss of her white fur seems to shimmer.

It's only a few brief moments of contact and when D withdraws his hand, she gives him a slow blink of those night-violet eyes. Much like a cat might, to silently express fondness.

" What's the consolation prize, ga ne? Fuhaa.. I wanted at least to make one to tease you about it... "

"And here I thought you'd make up some excuse not to even try to fill one out," Mr. 3 would get teased right back! There's no consolation prize really, except perhaps for making her smile and giggle. "I'm saving yours too, Three-san."

"You should go over that one again and change several spaces. A cage is the only right place to displace a foul beast. I don't understand what my brother sees in you." Shamrock shook his head as he gave Thea the bingo sheet. "But he has notorious bad taste anyway."

"Awww Thea. Why did you have to make it so hard to get several bingos? That's not fair." Of course Shanks is pouting that he only achieved three bingos

"You got more than one, didnt you?" Even with his little notes, which she gives him a wry smile. "It was just for fun, Shanks." Thea reaches up to tweak his nose affectionately.

"This was a surprise, both that you filled it out and got a bingo." She considers Zoro with mild amusement, "but I think you might be a little too young for me."

ahh thank you!! the last unicorn and other fantasy stories about unicorns were pretty much my whole teen and young adult years. (who am i kidding, i read them now in my 30s too lol)

so so happy to have you and so many other lovely moots that know and are fond of TLU. like it always surprises and endears me when i get messages about people recognizing amalthea and her source ;; <3

looks to the right, then to the left. frowns. okay, no one was looking. approaches her slowly. " do you ... uh. like your ears scratched? " meg doesn't know what horses like. usually, it's not her.

A heartbeat of silence and something quizzical to her manners for another breath. "Yes, I suppose so." It had been a long time since anyone had touched her so.. casually? "Are you offering?" The unicorn asks for clarification.

real talk, i actually didnt know my moon and rising signs, since i was never really into astrology. so this was a fun little hunt to find the appropriate calculators for them!

i am an aquarius, with a moon sign in aries and i am also ascendant in aquarius. my moon sign does not really resonate with me after reading more into it, but i do find that aquarius does suit me quite well in some aspects.

Several seconds of silence before a short, audible sigh leaves her, "Stars above, I will never understand you. I've never been so thoroughly annoyed and vexed by a single individual in all my days." She throws her hands in the air and says something else, it sounds like a curse, in another language entirely. But then returns to English, "I dont like you, I dont trust you and I certainly would never be loyal to you but yet here I stay, wondering what in the hells Roger saw in you all those years ago."

Another human trying to tempt her with a treat?

She stares at him for several long moments with huge dark eyes that are perhaps too intelligent for a common mare.

And yet, she stretches out her slender neck and very daintily takes the apple out of his hand. Crunching it in noisy contentment for the crisp, sweet taste of the fruit.

The smuggler grins mischeviously at the unicorn zoan, noting the relationship between her and shanks. "Should I call you mum?" She snickers.

"Ah, no, that does not seem quite appropriate." Thea responds coolly, clearly unamused by whatever Rya found entertaining about her relationship with Shanks.

⭐️ || Oh, these two introverts.. Thea and Mihawk will spend a lot of their quiet time together, having a sense of mutual contentment in silence. But there are times when Mihawk is reading that Thea will ask him to read aloud to her - doesnt really matter what the book is about or where he is progress wise - she just likes to listen to his voice. Of course she'll return the favor and read to him too, or they'll take turns reading passages just to mix up the routine.

⭐️ || Without Mihawk noticing, rare though that is, Thea does stick trinkets and baubles on his hat. Sometimes its a decorative pin or some flowers, maybe rhinestones or googly eyes. She cant help but be a little mischievous towards him now and again. Nevermind her penchant for stealing his hat for the occasional game of 'keep away.'

⭐️ || Mihawk teaches Thea how to dance!!! She used to know a few, remembers only the most basic waltz if she really applies herself but dancing has never really been an activity she participated in. Thea is naturally quite graceful but she does stumble a bit in the learning process, but Mihawk is patient with her, which she is grateful for. They make quite the pair when they're all dressed up for some formal event. :3
