Number of things here. Shows how fast an attack comes, how much emotion is behind it and how self defense videos showing how to address attacks where the attacker is stationary are not realistic. He drives her backwards and without the door behind her she would have been on the ground. Real attacks aren't static, they are very dynanmic. And then someone jumps in to help her which is great, but never ever expect anyone to help you! January 11 2017 - [⚠️: murder, brutality, sexual assault] In March #2014, #Brisbane was stunned by the news that a young French student, #SophieCollombet, had been raped and murdered after walking through #KurilpaPark. The 21-year-old's body was found by a rough sleeper the next morning. A French-born officer working for the #Queensland Police Service, Senior Constable Bruno Masot offered to help, and suggested he could return Ms Collombet's belongings to her family in their French village. After spending time with Ms Collombet's family, visiting her grave and breaking bread with her family, the officer was motivated to put pen to paper about the experience. Senior Constable Masot's tribute was written about a year earlier, but held for publication in the most recent edition of the Queensland Police Union Journal, until after her murderer was sentenced. Benjamin James Milward was sentenced to life behind bars after pleading guilty to the rape and murder of Ms Collombet in October 2016. The tribute has been republished with permission here. "Papillion a deux taches bleu" - A tribute to Sophie Collombet, by Senior Constable Bruno Masot It was a cool March morning when Brisbanites woke to a tragedy in their beloved city. As people went about their morning, thousands of coffee cups and hearty breakfasts were consumed, and in the background were television news programs and newspapers. The news on this day was of the worst kind, especially if the viewer or reader was the parent of a young daughter. On this day, the media had the heartbreaking task of reporting that a defenceless young lady had been savagely raped and murdered in one of our parks on the south side of Brisbane. It would be a few days before the identity of the young lady was learned and confirmed beyond all doubt. #restinpeace #vıolenceagaınstwomen #australia (at Kurilpa Park)

The Lovely Bones ditulis oleh Alice Sebold, diterbitkan oleh @picadorbooks 💰120.000 🔦Buku baru, tidak bersegel 🔎The Lovely Bones is the story of a family devastated by a gruesome murder -- a murder recounted by the teenage victim. Upsetting, you say? Remarkably, first-time novelist Alice Sebold takes this difficult material and delivers a compelling and accomplished exploration of a fractured family's need for peace and closure. The details of the crime are laid out in the first few pages: from her vantage point in heaven, Susie Salmon describes how she was confronted by the murderer one December afternoon on her way home from school. Lured into an underground hiding place, she was raped and killed. But what the reader knows, her family does not. Anxiously, we keep vigil with Susie, aching for her grieving family, desperate for the killer to be found and punished. Sebold creates a heaven that's calm and comforting, a place whose residents can have whatever they enjoyed when they were alive -- and then some. But Susie isn't ready to release her hold on life just yet, and she intensely watches her family and friends as they struggle to cope with a reality in which she is no longer a part. To her great credit, Sebold has shaped one of the most loving and sympathetic fathers in contemporary literature. January 23 2017 - [⚠️: murder, brutality] Police have now charged a man with #murder after they accused him of stomping a woman to death over a cellphone in a parking lot on #EastRiversideDrive, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Alexander Dwayne Holland, 44, is accused of killing 39-year-old #LuzDevinaMunoz. Holland approached Munoz on Wednesday morning to ask about a phone he loaned her, the affidavit says. “Munoz told (Holland) she had given the phone away,” the affidavit said. Holland then “told Munoz he would give her time to find his phone and he would be back.” When Holland returned, Munoz was sleeping on some pallets behind a building at 1701 E. Riverside Drive. The document said Holland got out of a dark SUV and began arguing with her about the phone. The man she was with tried to intervene, but the other man in the SUV stepped out and began attacking him, according to the affidavit. The victim told police he saw Holland slam Munoz to the ground and stomp on her head several times, the affidavit says. According to the document, he said he tried to use his body to shield her from the blows and was kicked in the head as well. The beating continued until a passerby honked her car horn after seeing the fight. The victim told police the two suspects jumped back into their SUV after hearing the horn, but drove toward them as they tried to get up. He said the SUV hit him in the arm and struck Munoz in the forehead, the affidavit said. Both were taken to #UniversityMedicalCenterBrackenridge for treatment, but Munoz died from her injuries two days after the assault, according to the Travis County Medical Examiner. #vıolenceagaınstwomen #restinpeace #texas (at University Medical Center Brackenridge)

[⚠️: murder, brutality, intimate partner violence] SILVER CITY — The latest case of #domesticviolence that ended in the death of #MarcellaPerez on March 15, 2015, has ended. Rudolfo Aguilar pled guilty to second-degree #murder and was sentenced to the maximum of 15 years by Judge H.R. Quintero. According to District Attorney Francesca Estevez, Aguilar was charged with first-degree murder, but after speaking with Aguilar’s attorney they agreed to a plea to a second-degree charge. Estevez said she spoke with the family and they agreed to the plea. Under #NewMexico law, the maximum sentence Aguilar could have received was 15 years and because the crime is a serious violent felony, he will have to serve 85 percent of his sentence (12 to 13 years) before he is eligible for parole. “He murdered his girlfriend and he made statements to indicate that,” Estevez said. “We felt gratified that the court understood this was an extreme case of domestic violence. A life was lost. The judge took his plea and sentenced him and the family is now able to move on.” The case wouldn’t have been an easy one to prosecute as there could have been a lot of factors involved. According to police reports, Aguilar made a phone call to 911 right before noon Sunday, March, 15, 2015, and asked the dispatcher how to perform CPR. Aguilar hung up and officers were dispatched to 705 Cielo Azul in #SilverCity where they found Perez unconscious in shallow water in the tub. Officers found blood on the floor, walls, and also some hair on the floor. After officers performed CPR, EMS was called. Perez was transported to #GilaRegionalMedicalCenter where she was pronounced dead. Aguilar told police that he and Perez had gotten back together after a recent breakup and that on Saturday night they were partying at a friend’s house. They both got kicked out of the party and they went to another person’s house. Aguilar supposedly got into a fight with a woman and was allegedly stabbed in the leg. They then left that house and went to Aguilar’s mother’s home where Perez began to act like she was possessed. #vıolenceagaınstwomen #restinpeace (at Silver City, New Mexico)

January 5 2017 - [⚠️: assault, misogynoir] ROLESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The attorney for a girl who was slammed to the floor by a police officer in a #NorthCarolina high school says the student has suffered a concussion and may have other related health issues. Attorney Freddy Rabner of Pittsburgh said Thursday that Jasmine Darwin is having headaches, vision problems and other issues associated with a concussion. He says she's still being evaluated by doctors. A video posted on social media shows an officer lifting and dropping Darwin on her left side, then pulling her to her feet and leading her away. The teen who recorded the incident had said two girls had been fighting, including Darwin's sister, and that Darwin was trying to break up the fight. Town officials in #Rolesville say the officer, #RubenDeLosSantos, was placed on paid administrative leave. A school resource officer in #NorthCarolina has been placed on paid administrative leave after a video was posted on Twitter that appears to show him slamming a student to the ground. The incident happened early Tuesday morning at #RolesvilleHighSchool, which is near #Raleigh. She says she was trying to break up a fight between her sister and another student when the officer grabbed her from behind and slammed her to the ground. A spokesperson for #WakeCountySchools says they are aware of the video and are working with police to gather details so they can take appropriate action. Santos has been a resource officer at the school for four years. The mayor said there is body camera footage of the incident which won't be released until the investigation is complete. January 5 2017 - [⚠️: murder, transmisogyny] #Mississippi resident #MeshaCaldwell, a #blacktranswoman, was found dead Wednesday night outside of #Canton, Mississippi, according to Mississippi News Now. Initial media reports misgendered Caldwell as male, according to a family friend. Mary Young, a friend of Caldwell's mother who's known her since she was a child, said she was "hurt" when she heard people using male pronouns to describe Caldwell. Young said Caldwell was a #beautician and #hairstylist. "She always, always dressed like a girl," Young said. "And as she grew up, she became beautiful just like a lady." She added, "I really don't know why somebody would want to kill her." After news reports of Caldwell's death, friends and loved ones flooded social media with messages to her and her family. According to news reports, police are investigating the death as a homicide. The Madison County, Mississippi, coroner has not yet responded to Mic's request for comment. Emily Waters, senior manager of national research and policy at the New York City Anti-Violence Project, said the organization was "deeply saddened" by news of Caldwell's death and sends their thoughts and condolences to Caldwell's family. "This is the first homicide of a transgender person that NCAVP has responded to in 2017, during a time of heightened fear and increased violence against LGBTQ communities," Waters said in a statement. "As we continue to hear more reports of violence, we must remind ourselves that this violence is not normal and fight harder than ever to keep transgender people safe." Young said she saw Caldwell at a dollar store recently after not having seen her for some time. Young says she lost sleep Wednesday night knowing someone had taken Caldwell's life. She remembers Caldwell as someone who was always dressed beautifully. "I don't care what she put on," Young said. "It looked good on her." January 3 2017 - [⚠️: murder, brutality, torture, intimate partner violence] HONOLULU, Hawaii - Jurors whose deliberations spanned nearly a month before they found a #Maui man guilty of #murder in the death of his #pregnant ex-girlfriend took much less time Tuesday to decide the killing was especially heinous — a determination that will allow a judge to sentence him to spend the rest of his life in prison. The jury found Steven Capobianco guilty last week of second-degree murder and arson in the death of #CarlyScott, who was five months pregnant with Capobianco's child when she disappeared in 2014. The panel began deliberating on Dec. 1 after listening to about six months of testimony. The second phase of deliberations involved an allegation that Capobianco killed Scott in an "especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel manner." After briefly deliberating Tuesday, the jury agreed that it was such a case. "He is finished," Scott's mother, Kimberlyn Scott, posted on Facebook Tuesday afternoon. "He will never harm another in this community." The maximum sentence for second-degree murder is life in prison with the possibility of parole. The jury's decision means that he can receive an enhanced sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole when he's sentenced on March 24. "Killing Charli Scott was not enough for this man," Deputy Maui Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rivera told jurors Tuesday, calling him a man without a conscience. Rivera held up Scott's black skirt showing multiple stab wounds in the abdomen area, saying the repeated punctures show that Capobianco made her suffer. Capobianco not only murdered Scott, but he made her suffer "unnecessary torture," Rivera said. All murders are arguably heinous, atrocious and cruel, said defence attorney Jon Apo, who suggested that Scott's death was quick. Unnecessary #torture, Apo said, would have been one stab wound to make her suffer a long death. The prosecution has a sympathetic jury, Apo said, noting one of the jurors is pregnant. The judge sustained Rivera's objection to mentioning the pregnant juror. #vıolenceagaınstwomen #domesticviolence #restinpeace
