I think most of the space on the Tulpar is taken up by the cargo area and the ship is actually very small. It literally only contains the components to keep the crew alive and simulate enough comfort that they don't go full shinning cabin fever like month two.
This is just to say I've been overthinking about Swansea's line about wanting to give Daisuke a chance to get off "this rock" and imagine Jimmy chose an asteroid the size of the Tulpar or bigger to ensure they'd all die. Either it just didn't work or maybe Curly did have a small window to rear the ship out of it's direct path explaining his unlikely survival in a head on collision and why the foam actually saved them.

Britons have to choose between heating and eating this winter
The UK has some of the most poorly insulated homes in Europe, although the nation was previously a leader in this area. Fifteen years ago, around a million homes a year were retrofitted with insulation and a target was set for all new homes to be zero-carbon by 2016, Big Issue reports.
However, all these initiatives are now forgotten. The UK has pulled out of the race for a low-carbon economy – and working families in need of money will be paying the price. As the cold weather arrives, energy prices are on the rise again, and from this month, people are facing another price hike: a typical annual energy bill will rise by £95 to £1,928.
It costs over £700 a year more to heat a poorly insulated home than a well-insulated one. Yet the government offers nothing to the millions of people living in draughty homes and being overcharged.
The abolition of minimum energy efficiency standards in rented properties and a return to fossil fuel boilers points to a fundamental failure of leadership, according to Big Issue.

Also, callout post for past me thinking I'd be ready to go back to work tomorrow. The idea of going back to work in the morning feels like a hate crime.

seeing so much discourse on ideal apartment sizes for new builds and like. I think dorm style places should be legal and that most people want at least 500sqft for a one bedroom and 400 for a studio (in America). the reason dorm style and overall smaller apartments are popular in other countries is because they actually have affordable and HEALTHY places to eat which eliminates the need for a full kitchen like Americans need. And they can walk to the grocery store or convenience store so they don’t need to buy lots of groceries at once. They also have 3rd spaces like parks and libraries and literally everything else the US is trying to defund. Not to mention transit and need for cars so they can afford to be more dense whereas builders in America need to account for parking . So like yeah we should have more urban density but we have to fix those problems before we start sizing down or else the people who live in those tinier spaces probably will have a worse off time …

hi! i found your blog bc of your comments on agrivoltaic systems, read your power saving tips, & wanted to say thank you for your work!! my job is to operate power transmission and generation on a grid scale so i really appreciate your effort and care on the topic. there are so many resources out there that help consumers AND the grid if only people knew where to look.
Thank you so much! I love talking about the work I do and I love to see people appreciate it.
omg unsung hero of society 🫡 the electric grid is so critical but most people don't really know how it works, so I'm glad to do my part with public education on the topic.
