I think most of the space on the Tulpar is taken up by the cargo area and the ship is actually very small. It literally only contains the components to keep the crew alive and simulate enough comfort that they don't go full shinning cabin fever like month two.
This is just to say I've been overthinking about Swansea's line about wanting to give Daisuke a chance to get off "this rock" and imagine Jimmy chose an asteroid the size of the Tulpar or bigger to ensure they'd all die. Either it just didn't work or maybe Curly did have a small window to rear the ship out of it's direct path explaining his unlikely survival in a head on collision and why the foam actually saved them.
#like there isn't actually a lot of places for them to go#so I assume most if the spaces are for utility or storage and like the ship is physically stuck on the rock and a drift#in a world where nothing bad happened and they still crashed because Jimmy's just a shit pilot Id say they'd start going crazy still caus#theres even less shit to do now and they are stuck in like perma red light that is bad for the brain#mouthwashing

Britons have to choose between heating and eating this winter
The UK has some of the most poorly insulated homes in Europe, although the nation was previously a leader in this area. Fifteen years ago, around a million homes a year were retrofitted with insulation and a target was set for all new homes to be zero-carbon by 2016, Big Issue reports.
However, all these initiatives are now forgotten. The UK has pulled out of the race for a low-carbon economy – and working families in need of money will be paying the price. As the cold weather arrives, energy prices are on the rise again, and from this month, people are facing another price hike: a typical annual energy bill will rise by £95 to £1,928.
It costs over £700 a year more to heat a poorly insulated home than a well-insulated one. Yet the government offers nothing to the millions of people living in draughty homes and being overcharged.
The abolition of minimum energy efficiency standards in rented properties and a return to fossil fuel boilers points to a fundamental failure of leadership, according to Big Issue.

trying to play it REALLY COOL about needing to move out in a month and having nowhere to go
#i have one ideal lead but no way to get an answer#it feels less likely but not impossible#i have one backup but it’s less ideal and i don’t have much info#they might not end up wanting a housemate and we’d need to make sure the dogs get along#and theoretically an attic available but it would kinda be as a favor to me#which is like. cool and also hard#and i’m like. ok so when should i cancel my internet and utilities and i will probably need to rent a storage unit but i don’t want to do#anything that would be hard to reverse#i think once september comes i’m going to pack everything up so i can move quickly

seeing so much discourse on ideal apartment sizes for new builds and like. I think dorm style places should be legal and that most people want at least 500sqft for a one bedroom and 400 for a studio (in America). the reason dorm style and overall smaller apartments are popular in other countries is because they actually have affordable and HEALTHY places to eat which eliminates the need for a full kitchen like Americans need. And they can walk to the grocery store or convenience store so they don’t need to buy lots of groceries at once. They also have 3rd spaces like parks and libraries and literally everything else the US is trying to defund. Not to mention transit and need for cars so they can afford to be more dense whereas builders in America need to account for parking . So like yeah we should have more urban density but we have to fix those problems before we start sizing down or else the people who live in those tinier spaces probably will have a worse off time …
#Im happy in my 550 rn . only thing is maybe storage but part of it is that I can’t utilize wall shelving#gwon#but yeah if we start making dorm style dwellings and it’s the only thing I can afford in 10 years and there’s no 3rd spaces and I have no#kitchen and there’s no cheap food I will kill myself honestly.

i am now realizing that living in the midwest has it's perks
#im browsing apartments just outta curiosity rn because ive been thinking about my future and all that#ive got a friend and we're thinking about becoming roommates and getting an apartment together until we get our shit figured out as -#- Official Adults™ so im just figuring out what you should be looking for in an apartment#rent is surprisingly low compared to a lot of other capital cities so im happy about that#there's a nice loft apartment that's $1400 for a two bed apartment. which is still expensive but its a lot less than most places rn#plus its got plenty of amenities#utilities included. in-unit washer/dryer. lots of community areas. well maintained. bike storage and repair station. well maintained.#its on the outskirts of downtown too so its still super close to everything that has to offer but its not crazy loud#the only major downside on first glance is that it looks like sound carries REALLY well through the rooms which.... is an issue#i need privacy man :'))#it looks really cool though#they have a community spot where local musicians perform on friday nights and according to the reviews the building owners are really nice#idk if there will still be spots there when we decide to move in together but it looks like a solid option#we'd be splitting the rent 50/50 so it'll make things more manageable price-wise
