The Ultimate Guide: Dos and Don'ts of Skin Toners for Balanced Skin
Most people only use skin cleansers and moisturizers and think they will remove dirt and enhance skin health and balance. However, these skincare products leave a residue behind. A toner removes these impurities to ensure your face feels refreshed and clean. Also, some skincare products can interfere with your skin's healthy pH level, which protects the skin from pollutants and bacteria. A toner helps restore a healthy skin pH balance.
Regular skin toner user smoothens and lightens the skin while enhancing the appearance of the pores. This skincare product also refines the rough patches. But you must use it correctly to achieve excellent results. This blog post highlights the dos and don'ts of skin toner, depending on your skin type.
Do's and Don'ts of Skin Toners for Normal Skin
Normal skin is not excessively dry or oily. Its texture is regular without imperfections. This skin has a clean and soft appearance and doesn't require special care. Here are the dos and don'ts of using a toner for balanced normal skin.
Do's
Use a quality skin toner daily to keep your normal skin healthy and clear. Skipping cleansing or using toners will cause dirt buildup, leading to dryness or acne breakouts.
Don'ts
Don't use harsh skincare products. For instance, you may find a toner promoting "glass skin" on the market. However, such a product can have ingredients that burn off the first skin layer to create a temporary glow. Remember, proper skin cleansing should maintain its natural pH level, not create an artificial imbalance, irritating the skin. Therefore, avoid harsh products that strip the skin of its natural moisture.
Do's and Don'ts of Skin Toners for Dry Skin
Dry skin lacks adequate moisture to maintain a soft feel. Immersing your face in hot water, low air humidity, and other external factors can cause dry skin. Here are the dos and don'ts of skin toner for dry skin.
Do's
Use a quality toner to hydrate your dry skin. Some people with dry skin fear using toners, thinking they will make their skin more dehydrated. However, a moisturizing toner can hydrate your dry skin. A moisturizing toner has ingredients like glycerin, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid that prevent further skin drying.
Don'ts
Do not skip skin toners because they can help with the redness and flaking of dry skin and enhance hydration.
Do's and Don'ts of Skin Toners for Oily Skin
Oily skin arises from sebum overproduction by the sebaceous glands. This skin has a bright, humid, and porous appearance. Here are the dos and don'ts of skin toner for oily skin.
Do's
Stick to hydrating toners. Using moisturizing toners on oily skin can seem counterintuitive. However, your complexion may be dehydrated due to sebum overproduction. A quality hydrating toner helps lock in moisture into the skin, soothing irritated areas. And it does this without causing acne breakouts or adding oil.
Don'ts
Do not use dehydrating toners. Somebody may have advised you to apply astringent toners on your oily skin. Astringent toners have alcohol that makes oily skin appear matte quickly. However, this is a temporary effect, which is usually unhealthy. Alcohol's drying effect produces more oil, giving you an oilier complexion within hours.
Do's and Don'ts of Skin Toners for Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin is fragile or quick to react to stimuli. Genetic differences in the protective barrier make some people's skin easy to irritate, causing problems like inflammation. Here are the dos and don'ts of skin toner for sensitive skin.
Do's
Use a natural alpha hydroxy acid. AHA is a natural skin toner ingredient that doesn't irritate sensitive skin. However, you must pick a product with the correct alpha hydroxy acid to ensure your sensitive skin looks radiant without reacting to AHA.
Don'ts
Don't use retinol or salicylic acid when using AHA on sensitive skin. However, you can alternate these products or use salicylic acid as a once-a-week treatment. Retinol and salicylic acid are effective ingredients. However, using them too frequently can dry the skin.
Do's and Don'ts of Skin Toners for Combination Skin
Combination skin has dry and oily areas. People with this skin type lack homogeneous distribution of sweat and sebaceous glands. The T-zone is mostly the chin, nose, and forehead, which are oilier, while the cheeks have dry or normal skin. Here are the dos and don'ts of toner for a combination skin.
Do's
Use a quality balancing toner to remove oil, makeup residues, dirt, and other impurities. The skincare product will remove impurities without unnecessarily irritating or drying the skin.
Don'ts
Make sure to use all the correct products for combination skin. This skin has different zones comprising dry and oily areas. Therefore, choose skincare products besides a quality toner that works best for your skin.
Parting Shot
Toners are staple skincare products for a healthy skincare routine. They are essential to removing blemishes and keeping the skin healthy. However, you must use skin toners correctly to achieve excellent results. This list of do's and don'ts of skin toner for balanced skin will help you develop and follow a skincare routine that will enable you to benefit from the correct toner for your skin.

Hey! I have a question!
How exactly did you make your alien language? I wanna try making a language for something I'm making but I don't really know how to start
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is in the same style as the alien one! I was able to do this in a few hours but if I were to work on it more I'd definitely change some of the symbols because of how chunky and overly complicated they are! The R being one of the specific ones I'd redo! You gotta write in it a bit to make sure all the symbols fit pretty good! You could also make symbols for pronouns! I've been wanting to update my alien one and add pronouns but I've been lazy fjjeksjs I also wanted to change the structure of sentences to resemble how sentences are signed in ASL but I was never good at that so I've been putting that off too! You can make languages as complicated or as simple as you want! And really, the symbols don't have to have a theme or pattern if you don't want them to! They just usually fit together better when they're similar!

a little bit mad that the Expensive Korean Skincare Product I purchased on a whim is actually making my skin noticeably clearer. me insisting for years that skincare is a sham and cheap facewash and moisturizer is all you need and now look at me. it comes with a tiny little shovel to scoop out the correct amount. I feel like an annoying YouTuber every time I wash my face. my face which has never felt better because of this stupid Expensive Korean Skincare Product

Liv I’ve seen you talk about face exfoliators before but do you have reccs for body ones? Specifically legs!
I DO HAVE RECS! <3 i have been obsessed w using korean italy towels for manual exfoliation (only once or twice a week) for like the past year or so; you use them in the shower once your skin has had time to get wet and soft and you don't have to use any extra product or anything!! i buy them in multi-packs and clean them by just throwing them in the wash—but i do find that the more you launder them the less effective they are, so i replace them fairly regularly. my other rec is kind of weird but it's applying an AHA toner to your still shower-damp skin before u moisturize (i do this probably like 2-3 times a week??)—i use the glycolic acid toner from the ordinary bc it's inexpensive and comes in a big bottle, and i put mine in a misting bottle and just spray it where i want to apply it :) one thing abt using a chemical exfoliant tho is u gotta be CAREFUL abt applying spf bc it makes your skin more susceptible to sun damage!!
