Reminding people that you don't have to like or agree with everything you come across on the Internet and Tumblr. I honestly would be shocked if you did! But please don't go out of your way to leave hate, and most likely anonymous hate to people who like or write about things that you don't enjoy. You can ignore it, filter and block it, you don't have to engage with it! There are real people behind the screens and usernames who deserve to be treated with basic human decency and kindness. If you wouldn't say something to a person standing right in front of you, then you shouldn't be sending those words to them over the Internet.

i don’t understand why some fanfiction writers will put all of their work in one giant paragraph. i am constantly abusing a paragraph break. i use it every five seconds. new subject? new paragraph. slightly different angle? new paragraph. any sentence that holds any amount of weight? boom new paragraph. i will use one word then do another paragraph break. you can’t stop me.

And a reminder, they cant duplicate benefits!!! If you have insurance, you MUST file a claim and submit those documents to FEMA for further assistance! If your policy doesn't cover the type of damage, they will need a copy of your policy and a letter from your agent stating that!

Now this isnt a discouragment. Even if your insurance covers some of the loss, you may still be eligible for assistances from FEMA! SO APPLY WITH THEM!!! Some people I know have been through the process a few times, and it can be annoying as hell. But it is a service MADE to be used by you! Even if you are living in the US and not yet a citizen, you still can be eligible for assistance. They are not ICE, they will not deport you or report you to them.

Friendly reminder to listen VERY VERY CRITICALLY if someone tries to convince you not to register for federal disaster assistance following a declared disaster. Helene is still moving north and I see the usual rants picking up steam already.

That person trying to win social commentary points online is not your friend. That person can’t give you funds for house repair or to restock on food and meds. And if they say they can - that is a scammer and not someone you can trust.

Scammers and developers trying to take advantage after a disaster intentionally spread rumors/misinformation to convince survivors not to apply for federal disaster assistance. Many well meaning people pick this misinformation up and spread it further without understanding how the assistance process works. It’s happened more and more over the years and it will happen with Helene.

If you do not apply for assistance, you lose the chance to receive federal funds. APPLY APPLY APPLY. This doesn’t guarantee you will meet eligibility requirements, but you definitely can’t meet them if you don’t apply. The application process isn’t perfect but it continues to be updated - and was updated in 2024!! - to try and make it easier for survivors. If you have damages or lost power for an extended time, APPLY.

You can check on FEMA.gov or with local news to see when disaster recovery centers will open, how long the application period will last, and what information you’ll need when applying.

Part of the reason I'm so adamant about encouraging people to get comfortable with bugs, my own interests aside, is because we cannot have a bright, solarpunk future without them.

A green future is not a bugless future. It is, in fact, a fairly bugful future. If you care about ecological stability, then you need to start with bugs, because they're the most at risk with our current use of pesticides.

i like how its becoming apparent in the new chapters that kris is actually pretty emotional and demonstrative (and has always been) and they just have a player-induced flat affect that makes people think they're reserved or aloof or whatever. can we get more of them being an impassioned little weirdo
