Artober day 3! I revisited an old sketch from 2020 or so~

Sailor Moon as a werewolf

Usagi winced and pulled back as she held her arm, watching the bite and scratch marks she got from the wolfman start to heal as Ami bandaged her up. “Why did it have to be me,” she whined. “Why couldnt it have been Minako?” 

“Because you’re the only one dumb enough to try to fight it on your own,” Rei answered back. “Though, it is strange that a wolfman came out during the day.” 

Ami finished tightening up the bandage on  Usagi’s arm. “Well, the full moon is still out during the day, so its not that surprising.” 

“But arent werewolves supposed to be a night thing?” 

“There was a solar eclipse, so that might have something to do with it.” 

“Or it was Queen Beryl’s doing,” Makoto suggested. “She’s been looking for ways to get rid of us and sending a wolfman at us wouldnt be too off the mark.” 

Rei nodded. “And it would explain why we saw it during the day.” 

Usagi sighed and pulled her sleeve over her bandage. It had been a rough fight, and while they were able to stop the werewolf, or at least drive it off, everything about the whole situation seemed off. A werewolf this week, vampires last week, zombies the week before… almost as if someone was having fun sending out Halloween monsters to fight instead of the normal goons Queen Beryl sent. She paused in thought as her stomach growled. A nervous smile crossed her lips as she checked the time. “Its getting a bit late and I should get home for dinner.” 

“We should all get home,” Ami said in agreement. “We’ll see you in class tomorrow and then we can see if we can find out where all of these monsters are coming from.” 

“See you all tomorrow!” Usagi waved to her friends as she started to make her way home, thinking about what her mom was making for dinner. Thoughts of beef udon or takoyaki filled her mind as she walked home, slowly turning to craving steak or hamburger. She licked her lips for a moment, then paused as she smelled some meat cooking down the street. It took a few moments for her to get out of her stupor and to start making her way back home. She must’ve been hungrier than she thought. 

Usagi quickly ran home, not bothering to check to see what her mother was making as she rushed upstairs to her room. Since the sun was starting to set, it was easier to make her way into her room than to get questioned by her mom. She threw her bag down at the foot of her bed as she went to her desk to start her homework before bed. 

As the sun set and the moon started to rise, Usagi found herself having trouble trying to focus. At first, it was the sounds on the street of passing cars that seemed louder than normal, the smells of dinner cooking in the kitchen starting to get to her, and the feeling of her hair brushing along the back of her neck. Then there was the feeling of being called to by something outside, nagging at the back of her mind until she finally went to her bedroom window and opened the blinds. As her eyes gazed on the full moon, her mind started to slip as pain coursed through her body. Usagi doubled over as fur started to grow along her arms and back, nails started to lengthen to claws and her teeth started to get sharper. Bones cracked as her clothes tore, feet turned into paws and her face started to become more muzzle-like. Her ears pointed as she let out a loud howl, breaking through her window and running off into the night, instincts driving her through her first night as a werewolf.

Unexpected Allies and a Betrayal

Matthias decided to go the easy route, and dialed the first number on the device. "Thank you for calling, please back up as transportation is set up." The phone spoke before it began to shake. Matthias dropped it in fear, just in time to look up and see the Troupe.

Surrounding him was everybody, from the food stall workers to the sideshow to a lot of people he didn't recognize, but he assumed was the main act Big Top performers. And he didn't doubt his assumptions as one of them was a fucking MINOTAUR! Matthias felt himself back up only to hear the door open behind him, the plague doctor man behind him. With a bunch of slow claps Matthias turned back around and saw her, the woman in the suit with the hat and cane: Regina.

"I must applaud you for making it this far Matthias Wilson. But this all ends here. With you dead." As they resumed their advance the phone began to beep loudly before extending and transforming into a strange, almost flat device. Then it began to spin and spark before it glowed a bright blue. Suddenly, a large man about 6'9" appeared. He stood and rolled his neck, muscles threatening to tear from his suit as he looked to Matthias, view confused.

"Samantha died," he said flatly as he eyed Matthias up and down. "Then you'll have to do." Regina had a face of fear before it twisted to rage.

"Attack you fools, tear him apart!" She yelled as she waved her staff around, the end glowing purple. The Troupe all violently twitched and shook before their eyes glowed the same, their will usurped by Regina as they began to advance on the tall man Matthias finally pieced was the "werewolf O5" that the sticky note referred to.

"Run into the woods and find the radio tower, broadcast the inverse signal that our inside man will perform. GO GO GO!" He yelled as Matthias bolted into the woods. As the onslaught began the man shifted his hands to claws as he began the battle.

Matthias ran as far as he could, trying to remember the radio tower he believed he could recall from the Ferris view. Soon he came to a stop and caught his breath, and spotted a familiar pair of ears. He began to panic at being killed before he heard "W-wait I'm not like the others!" Matthias stopped and saw the bunny-eared ally step out in front of him, illuminated by the moonlight.

"I'm not like the others, I can't be controlled by Regina. She is able to enslave them when she forcibly anomalizes people. But me," He stopped to grab his ears for emphasis. "I was born this way, and she capitalized on that to just kidnap me, but because of that I cannot be controlled by her!" Matthias breathed out a sigh of relief. "Now c'mon, we have to go to the radio tower so I can help my friends!"

A gun click could be heard behind them. They turned and saw Fred, with a handgun aimed at them both. "Regina was right, you two are like little rats, spreading your disease everywhere. Well not right now. Here, I'll shoot ya both, and then Regina promised to bless me, to make her right hand man, or if I decide against it, she promised to let me go." He spoke with a crazed expression in his eyes. There was no reasoning with him.

Bunny ears twitched. "Monsieur Spewer is lurking," he whispered to Matthias. "Make him prone to buy us time." Matthias knew what he meant. In a quick prayer, he grabbed his pencil and flung it full force, making direct contact with Fred's eye. He gripped it and began yelling and cursing about the pain, his finger even setting off the trigger of the gun. The duo began to back up before the rabbit boy grabbed Matthias and led him to the radio tower, while the sounds of Fred being torn apart could be heard.

The two arrived at the radio tower, which loomed ominously, the occasionally creaking of the rusty metal as the wind blew. "It's my time to shine," the lagomorph said as he began to climb. "By the way mister, my name's Usagi. And I really hope you don't forget about me." He resumed his climb and could soon be heard entering the main area of the tower and prepping something.

Matthias however, found himself thrown on the ground. He looked up and saw this "Spewer". It was a monstrous creature as black as tar, moving with its body of mostly cartilage and bone, clawed hands crawling it forward as its many mouths drooled and chomped eagerly. It hurt Matthias to think that this was once a human being, horribly shifted into this. This creature, Monsieur Spewer, lept onto Matthias and pinned him down, ready to take a fatal bite.

The Radio Tower shuddered before the crackling of electricity could be heard. Raw energy could be seen coming together before a massive burst of energy came from it, filling the entirety of the park. Spewer shuddered before collapsing off of Matthias, knocked out. Usagi slid down the ladder. "Come on we have to hurry!" He said as he led Matthias back to the main park. There the Troupe was all unconscious as the large man, now an even larger werewolf, was fighting the Ringleader, and with a swift hit, knocked her down. As the two approached he shifted back to normal.

"Good work you two, but the blast was too powerful, it's frying the teleportation pad. You-" He pointed to Matthias. "Grab who you can if you want to save them, I have someone important to save." And with that he left, searching. Matthias saw Usagi drag Sammy towards the transporter, a look on his face conveying that he himself was at peace staying, if it meant his large friend managed to escape. Matthias looked at the nearest unconscious people before him. He estimated he could save at least two, whether out of compassion or strategy in removing a power player from the Ringleader, he knew he had to do something now!

I wrote and FINISHED (but didn't publish outside of showing my closest friends) a little flash story that's basically a fucked up lil fairy tale. Last thing I wrote in general was a bit more dialogue for what might become my novel.

About Me?

Got tagged in this little thing. Figured I’d do it.

Three Ships: The Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Wait. No. Cripes, I don’t even know if I should talk about my favorite ships. Most of the past ones make me sad now and most of the current ones feel like I should keep them to myself. Maybe just... Wesley x Buttercup (from Princess Bride). Usagi x Mamoru (from Sailor Moon). Phedre x Joscelin (from Kushiel’s Dart).

First Ship: Of my own, it would probably be my werewolf and my friend’s sorcerer: Rosoe x Remiel. They made me very happy. To this day, I credit his writer with me not walking in front of a bus as a teenager.

Currently Consuming: Ben & Jerry’s Mint Chocolate Cookie ice cream. Don’t look at me like that.

Currently Watching: I’m in the midst of the Sailor Moon Crystal reboot on Netflix. That and Dad of Light.

Last Movie: Glass Onion - and it was so good.

Last Song: If we don’t count the soundtrack to FFXIV that I’m listening to right now, then I think it was Heavy is the Head by Zac Brown Band.

Currently Reading: The Dragon Experiment by Louisa Masters - it’s a cute little Kindle Unlimited romance. I read a lot of those because my brain likes candy.

So you met the wolf finally. Scary isn’t he? Surprised he’s a man? More of a they man. I can’t believe you thought he was me. Tbf, you didn’t even know what he sounded like before today. I suppose you think he’ll just disappear and never come back? No no, the wolf is more than that. That’s why it’s a they. It is plural. Like a werewolf. I guess you could say they are like Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf rolled into one. One is bait the other is the thing that touches you inappropriately.

Im sorry for your encounter with them. If you really want to know if it’s me next time, double check with some simple questions. What are my favorite colors and where I got my name from. You don’t know the answer to the second so the wolf will try to guess. Either that or so say it won’t matter. I’ll always tell you it’s a secret. They might be smart enough to tell you the same. Call upon me if you’re unsure. I need you to trust me. I hate Jellyfish, but the wolf is worse off for you. I’d rather you spend time with that psycho than that full on predator.

I know you want to block your memories out but remembering enough should get the wolf at bay. You will not make friends with them. Even Jelly can’t tolerate them.

I need you to try to accept this enough to make contact with the others, you’re vulnerable alone. Now you’re getting tired and are about to pass out. Worry about this later. Maybe try dreaming about me since Im so perfect. Good night, Usagi. You may not belong in the ocean, but I love you and will keep you safe here. 😘🦈
