Perfect - Shigaraki x Reader

He was sweating bullets, he had been trying to prepare something special for the both of you but the league kept entering the motherfucking kitchen to grab snacks and wouldn't leave because it was 'funny to mess with him'.

At least that's what he was thinking, in reality, they weren't doing anything to stress him. He just didn't know how to deal with this. Usually, he or you'd plan an outing, sometimes Kurogiri would cook or you'd get takeouts.

This time though, he really wanted to plan everything from A to Z, including cooking.

Dabi had stopped in the kitchen's doorframe, a raised eyebrow. This was literally the first time that he'd step in the kitchen since Shigaraki had started planning for tonight. "Geez boss, I knew you hated me but no need to act like that"

The white haired mand didn't even look up at him, his bangs hiding his eyes. He kept scratching his neck, staring at the recipe. It shouldn't be that hard, right? "Go away" He mumbled.

He could see, from the side of his vision that Dabi rolled his eyes and walked away before coming back 2 seconds later. "Okay, the fuck's the problem?"

"Nothing, everything's fine" Tomura spat out of his mouth like it was venom.

"Uh huh" Touya clearly seemed to not believe him.

Tomura took a deep breath and finally looked at his friend, associate, colleague…, employee? He still wasn't sure what to call Dabi. "Fuck off, I'm fine"

"Sure, whatever but you should patch up your neck before that ruins your date" The scarred man disappeared in the hallway.

Tomura blinked then looked at his fingers. Fuck. There was some blood under his fingernails. He had scratched too much without even noticing.

This wasn't going well.

A few minutes later, he was back in the kitchen, hands cleaned, he had washed them at least thrice to make sure of it, and bandages were wrapped around his neck.

Okay, well, maybe it wasn't so bad. It's not like he had lost an arm while cooking, right?

He followed the recipe as much as he could. Tomura swore at it, multiple times as he had to google some terms that he couldn't understand. He almost used his quirk twice out of spite but didn't. He had to do it. For you.

But something went wrong, he didn't know what, but smoke was coming from the oven. "FUCK" He stuck his head out in the hallway, looking for something.

But of course, living in an abandoned place, there wasn't any fire extinguisher. The smell of smoke quickly invaded their whole lair, the other league members started showing up, lowkey panicking. Except Dabi.

Luck must've been on his side because you, Sako and Kurogiri warped into the kitchen a few seconds later. The purple mist man quickly warped the oven to some unknown place.

Sako and Kurogiri urged the league to open every window so the smoke could escape, while also leaving you two in the kitchen.

The look you had on your face, that worry, he couldn't handle it at the moment so he avoided your gaze.

You approached him and gently grabbed his wrist. He silently followed you as you brought him on the roof. He helped you climb due to your tight clothes stopping you from doing some movements. He also was wearing something nice.. Well now it was ruined due to the ashes.

You both sat down and leaned against each other. "Sorry"

"For what?" You gently asked.

"I burnt our dinner"

You smiled softly. "It's okay, as long as you're not hurt"

Tomura groaned and you looked up at him. "No it's not, I was trying to do something special for you and it just didn't fucking work." Tomura wasn't the type to curse unless he was pissed, like now. He spotted that frown forming in your face and his state worsened.

"Tenko, it's fine, I promise, I really appreciate-"

God, he loved it when you called him by his real name. He almost forgot why he was angry for a split second. "You don't get it" He interrupted you. "I wanted this to be perfect for you. It had to be something special that you'd remember"

Your frown switched to a confused expression. "Why?"

He snorted, he couldn't believe that you couldn't understand something so obvious. "You're genuine, funny, caring, kind.. You're even more than that.. But it's perfection to me"

"I'm not-" You started before he interrupted you again.

"Shut up, yes you are, even your little quirks and bad habits of yours… Somehow" He sighed and his scarlet hues finally met yours. "You deserved something perfect tonight" Tomura looked down. "But I ruined it.. Because I'm.."

A monster, was what he was trying to say. He didn't care about his looks, he really didn't. But on the inside? He was mean, cruel, a dangerous freak. And yet you still loved him. How? He didn't know but that's why you were so special to him, that he loved you back.

You didn't need him to finish his sentence to understand what he was thinking about, and he loved that too about you.

"Tenko.. I don't care about what happens when we're having a date. I don't need fancy shit. We could legit have it in the sewers or in a trash container behind a crappy restaurant and I wouldn't care because you'd be with me. And as long as you're having a good time too, I couldn't care less about the rest" You grebbed his hand and he intertwined his fingers with yours. He was always wearing gloves nowadays, because he never knew when you'd grab his hands. So he was being extra careful.

Tomura snorted, 5 seconds ago and he thought he was the freak one but now you were saying that a date in the sewers was okay. "You're weird, we should discuss about those strange date ideas of yours"

You hit his shoulder with no strength in it and he laughed. "Those were examples!"

The young man snatched your wrist before you'd "hit" him again. "I know and I get it now"

You smiled softly and he dropped your wrist before reaching for the side of your face. "I love you" You whispered gently.

And he could've melted right here and there but he smiled back. "Love you to the stars and back"

You snorted, he had done that cheesy line on purpose, just to hear you laugh. Because you knew he disliked the lovey dovey speeches. "Look at you being cheesy"

"What can I say? I'm a romantic"

Your laughs echoed through the calm night that the only light was the moon and stars.

An stressed and extremely explosive reader x Kinger, Caine and Ragatha. (The old hags trio haha) let me explain it to ya

Reader is always stressed because of they are pratically stuck in a digital world with (supossedly) no way out, so instead of freaking out and/or getting slowly insane, Reader is very agressive and explosive all the time.

Especially in IHA, because they have to bare the fact that they need to pass through "stressing" situation who sometimes could be a near-abstraction experience.

Everytime reader gets too stressed because of something, Reader explodes and they are screaming around or with the cause of the problem if its a person (AHEM, JAX-) and only calms down when they are stopped by others or when they spend some time alone.

Anyways i just basically wants to see how would they react seeing reader have something similar to female & male rage moment.

he can and he WILL put an immediate pause on the current IHA when he sees its making you really overwhelmed. he may even dismiss the entire event just to make sure youre okay; you mean so much to him and if youre getting this close to abstraction just from getting upset hes going to be there for you. i think it would actually make him tone down the intensity of IHAs , at least a little bit... he doesnt really know what qualifies as "too much" so please be patient with him!

makes sure to do everything he can to help; want him to go away? hes already launching himself to the other side of the grounds. need him to talk to you? hes going to be saying whatever you need him to say for as long as you need him to. very nice very silly i love him chews

RAGATHA:

similar to the other two she takes you off to the side, probably takes you to her room or yours and lets you work your own feelings out however you need to get them out. this isnt the first time youve have an outburst, but it doesnt make the glitching any less scary. tries to calm you down with her voice, giving you things to squish and mess with.. just as long as youre not hurting yourself she wont intervene with your method of calming down. very sweet about it. if youre anything like me, then youre probably going to be tired afterwards, and she will let you sleep. will crawl into bed with you if you want here around, if not shes going to respect that... if it was someone who riled you up shes going to make sure they get an earful, as well as keeps a closer eye on that person when theyre interacting with you because she doesnt want you to be this miserable all the time

KINGER:

nearly dies when he sees your body momentarily glitch, well at least as close as he can to dying in that moment. hes immediately rushing to you and talking a mile a minute trying to ask if youre okay, which admittedly probably makes you snap at him. overstimulation is one hell of a thing, but as long as you explain yourself and apologize when youre in a better place then its going to work itself out. kinger tries to take you off to the side, away from whatevr it is that was upsetting you. be it an IHA or another circus member, hes going to take you into his pillow fort and leave you be. he waits outside by its entrance, anxiously waiting for you to give him the go ahead to enter... very stressed out man he wants more than anything to comfort you and talk you through it but he knows you need alone time during times like this

The commander of survey corps same position as commander Erwin Smith Hange was on her usual day as she does so. She was walking in the hallway with a lot of paper works in her hands and y/n can felt the tiredness in hange's eyes and also on the way she walks. Y/n had suddenly come up on her mind to help Hange on where she is off to cause if she don't Hange might faint there. As y/n slowly approaches her while fidgeting in her hands she waved on Hange and asked "Hange-san where are you off to? Mind if I help you?" She asked with a bit of nervous on what she'll be going to respond on her. Hange slowly spoke as she steps more closer to her and then unexpectedly kneels a bit down and then leans on y/n's shoulder as she tilted more to get more closer on her as y/n supported her on not falling back and are so confused she had also realized that Hange was not actually tired but apart from that she was actually drunk from drinking with her comrades "h-hange-san..!? Are you ok?..y-you seem so drunk.." y/n constantly asked her seeming so worried and nervous at that point in the same time.hange looked up on y/n with a redness puff on her face "hic-! After a couple minutes of walking through the hallway while y/n still held of hange's body helping her walk up straight they had finally came on her re-signed room. "Hange-san I should go now. I'll just ask Levi to take care of you for tonight-" y/n sentence were interrupted by hange's commanding voice with a serious term.."no y/n you'll be with me tonight. I command." Hange's word left y/n speechless and confused when suddenly Hange pulled her wrist and then pulled her on the room as she locked the door behind her and placed her one hand on y/n's hip with a kind of grip she whispered in a husky voice and seductively "you're mine tonight y/n..I'll devour you.. hic.." y/n suddenly felt a butterfly on her stomach as she thinks that she shouldn't be feeling like this as a blush on y/n's face becomes more red, Hange chuckled darkly as she seemed like a maniac as she smirk while eye contacts on y/n deeply "god y/n.. you're literally making me horny.." y/n widened her eyes as she tried to push Hange away from her. Hange felt that and then frown's her eyes as she seems so irritated and a bit of amused by the way y/n acted so she decided to pull y/n on the bedroom and pushes her on the bed as she crawl up on her, "h-hange-san what are you-!?" Y/n's words were stopped by Hange by placing a hand of her mouth "shh..shh..let me take care of you tonight my comrade.." hange's word were so deep as she suddenly sucked on y/n's neck leaving a big red hickey "ahh..y/n your so damn beautiful.." suddenly Hange woke up on her bed with y/n on the side of the bed peacefully sleeping. Uehehe new wall feature 😎

I LOVE this illustration so I bought the magazine a month or two ago, but I didn’t realize the poster would be HUGE. I was kind of sad because I had no room for it so I put it away and planned to use it some other time.

Lately though this wall has felt bare. I never meant to put anything on it because it’s wallpapered as a statement wall, but like I said…felt bare since every other wall is covered. I also saw a room with similarly patterned wallpaper that had frames on it and loved it.

So tonight I bought a poster frame!

To decorate it I glued on these wooden flowers that I painted gold. I had meant for the frame to be gold and decorative since that’s what most of my others are. This plain frame fit in my budget though & ended up being the best option because when I put one of my gold frames on the wall as a test…it was ugly LOL

So weeee! I’m so glad I decided to put this up. I think the size of the poster and the limited colors makes it not feel overwhelming. I would like to fill the wall out with a few more prints, and I’ll keep it to black and white high contrast images to complement this one.

WEEEE i finally started writing-writing again and i hit 10k w/ my story tonight TToTT NATURE IS HEALING

tbh breaking my story up with semantic versioning instead of using traditional chapters is like. really taking the pressure off and allowing me to write short sections/scenes rather than forcing myself to turn them into these longer, "cohesive" chapters. when i'm done with a scene or a thought, i'm done. i can "release" it as a "minor" version and move the fuck on. i don't feel like i have to put all this extra effort into making those smaller scenes more substantial. idk if this makes any sense anymore my brain is mush. anyway. we'll see if i can continue the momentum tomorrow ghfdsjk

Dabi huffs, taking another look around your apartment. He had come to your apartment to stalk you, much like he did every night. However as he entered your apartment silently, it became very clear to him that you were gone or were out.

Your shoes and coat were gone as well as you yourself. Very rare for you, you normally liked to stay home instead of going out so late, but you were gone. Dabi looked and checked everywhere, where the hell are you? Were you partying? Who were you with? Did you meet someone?! No, no, no, you just couldn’t have met someone... could you?

He had already check all of the places you frequently visited and liked. He had gone to your apartment first, however after not being able to find you, he checked all of your favorite places. After doing that, Dabi had gone back to your apartment with hope that perhaps you had gotten back to your apartment and he would be able to make sure you’re alright.

Dabi takes a deal breath once again. No, you couldn’t have found someone, and even 9if you had found someone, they could never love you more than Dabi does. No one else cared about you enough to follow you home to make sure your safe, or take you away from them because he knows that he loves you more than anyone.

Luckily for Dabi, he had recently ‘introduced’ himself to you and now had your phone number. Therefore he could call you and ask you about where you were, all under the guise of wanting to hang out with you.

Dabi brings out his cracked phone, calling you from your own apartment. He impatiently taps his foot, different scenarios running through his mind of people you could be with or things that could have happened to you.

���Hello?” Your sweet voice speaks through the phone, almost getting rid of all of worries. Although he still is worried, slightly upset with you as well. He’s not exactly sure why he’s so upset with you. You don’t know that he’s stalking you and expects you to be home, however he feels like you should! You should no better!

“Hey, doll. Wanna come over and hang out tonight?” Dabi asks, keeping his voice calm and normal. Only for you to let out a whine at his words. “I’m sorry, Dabi, I can’t” you says, the pout evident in your voice.

“I’m actually not home right now, I’m on a business trip” you whine, clearly not wanting to be on there. “I wish I could though, it sounds like fun! Maybe we could do it another time?” You ask, hopefully, sad you might have disappointed a friend by not being able to see him.

Dabi responds with a yes,and continues talking to you. Despite knowing where you are, he still feels like he should be watching over you. How else should he know you’re safe? Perhaps he should take you sooner than he intended.

moving in with zhongli was an absolute delight. he was so respectful of your space and even helped you study!

you weren't really surprised to find out he was a history major. it's practically almost all he talked about, not that you minded.

today he came home with the biggest smile plastered on his face and pamphlet in hand. "there's a new history exhibit opening up around campus. i heard it's about the town's local history and war from over 800 years ago. uh if you'd like, we can go together?" and who were you to say no?

you knew this wasn't a date or anything, just two friends hanging out! because that's what friends do, right? once you and zhongli arrived, you both decided to go with a tour guide because even zhongli didn't know much about the town's history. "and this exhibit over here ladies and gentlemen tells you about the haunting of whitmore's house, ouuuuu!" the tour guide gave his worst ghostly impression.

you chuckle and turn to zhongli, who didn't seem as amused. "zhongli? you don't really believe in the haunting of whitmore's house, ouuuuu!" you gave your best mimic of the tour guide. he's eyes remains fixated on the small replica of the house. "hmm, i'm not sure. i am confused on why it would be in a history museum."

"well my friend, whitmore was a brave general during the war. he unfortunately got ambushed in his own home. legend has it you can still hear his screaming coming from his bedroom!" the tour guide made another ghostly mimic before leaving. that sent chills up your spine. "eugh, how awful." you crossed your arms. the distaste in your voice was very evident, so zhongli and you both decided to move on to the next exhibit.

later that night while you guys were deciding on what to have for dinner, there was very loud knocking sound at the door. "i'll get it." when you opened the door, you were met with an overly excited hu tao. she was bouncing on her toes with a up to no good grin.

"hu tao? i wasn't expecting you. come on in." you open the door wider and she makes a bee line for the couch. "weeee have plans tonight." she announces plopping down next to zhongli. "we do? i wasn't aware." zhongli raises his eyebrows.

hu tao was a good friend of zhongli's. although you didn't know her too well, you liked her spirit. "ohhh yes we do! we're having a seance at whitmore's house." her smile only grew wider. speaking of spirits. you on the other hand collapsed on the couch. "a seance? at a haunted house? you can count me out." you shiver. zhongli wanted to say he was surprised, but he really wasn't. hu tao was the president of the occult club after all.

"will it just be us?" zhongli's interest was piqued. "mmm no. a few of my club members will be joining us but i wanted to invite the two of you as well! i know you guys went to the museum today so i thought you'd be interested!" the way hu tao's eyes sparkled at this was a bit concerning.

you sigh, nibbling on your bottom lip in deep thought. oh, what the hell. it's not like you believe in this ghosts anyway. you slam your palms on the coffee table and stand up abruptly, making zhongli and hu tao flinch. "let's go catch some ghosts!"

now what the hell were you thinking?! the weather was freezing, and dark clouds painted the night, showing signs of a thunderstorm. you were shaking in your boots standing outside of the haunted house. if you can even call it that. it was more of an abandoned manor. a gate surrounded the property so it was a hassle to get to get in.

zhongli noticed your shaking, so he held your hand. you look up at him and he just shoots you a comforting smile. your body begins to shake less. "alright everyone, are we ready?" hu tao turns around to look at everyone. you all nod and follow hu tao inside. the atmosphere inside wasn't helping your nerves. the wallpaper was tearing from the walls, stains of water damaged, missing floorboards, and- was that a blood stain?

you must've clenched zhongli's hand too tight because he started rubbing his thumb across your intertwined hands to help calm you down. okay, deep breaths y/n. you can do this. besides, it's not like ghosts actually exist, right?

"wowwww look at this place! how about we explore for a bit? we can split up and meet up later here!" hu tao suggested. you were about to protest, but zhongli was already leading you away from the rest of the group. "is this really safe?" you ask him barely loud enough.

"don't worry. i'm here with you. and if you get too uncomfortable, i'm sure hu tao will understand that we had to leave." his words brought you enough comfort to keep your legs walking. you clung to zhongli's side as you explored the eerie hallway with nothing but a dim flashlight. "i wonder which room was his." zhongli mumbled mindlessly. your body tensed up at his statement and you shook your head. "i'm sure hu tao is on the hunt for it." you tried to joke, but the fear building up in the pit of your stomach was just too much.

the gods were definitely against you. the flashlight zhongli was holding had gone out. "oh great. good thing we have our phones." you reached out for your phone in your pocket and hastily turned the flashlight on. "oh, seems like i forgot my phone. let's find hu tao."

for the rest of the night, your hand never left zhongli's. even when you heard a ghoulish scream coming from the upper level

being roommates with kayea was very, well, exhilarating. he wasn't a terrible roommate but he was totally a fuckboy. you had to set boundaries when you heard unwanted noises coming from him and his friends on the other side of your wall almost every night.

he apologized for his behavior and promised to never let it happen again. until it did.

it was midnight and you were awoken by the very evident sex noises coming from kaeya's room. it had to have been his 3rd person this week. he thought he was being slick by sneaking his links over while you were fast asleep. you were finally going to put a stop to this.

deciding enough was enough, you angrily rip off the blanket on your body and shuffle into your bunny slippers. you march over to kaeya's room and knock very loudly on his door. "kaeya my love, is everything alright. seems like quite a ruckus in there. i'm coming in."

without shame, you open up the door wide to find kaeya and his flavor of the week hiding under his covers. well, time to put your acting skills to use. "oh! kaeya! what's this? how could you! even after i told you about our baby just yesterday?! what am i suppose to do now? i can't deal with this!" you burst out into the fakest tears kaeya has ever seen. kaeya had the most horrific expression on his face. the girl beside him was disgusted. she slapped kaeya, "you told me you were single! your s/o is pregnant! you disgusting man." she grabbed all of her clothes littered on the floor and left the place almost like she was never there.

as soon as she left, you wiped away your fake tears. "what a performance am i right? i'll make a great movie star in the future." kaeya clenched his bedsheets closer to his body and looked at you like he's seen a ghost. "what the hell was that? what did you-" "i told you specifically not to bring anymore of your hookups to our shared dorm. this isn't just your space, kaeya." you crossed your arms and squinted your eyes. he huffed and fell back on his bed. "yeah but did you have to be so dramatic about it? now everyone's gonna think you're pregnant with my baby."

oh. you didn't even think about that. "that's a problem for later. right now i need you to seriously promise me no more hookups. i'm getting tired." kaeya propped himself on his elbows. he knows he was being unfair and totally disrespectful. it was your place too and he shouldn't keep up his antics. "okay. i promise. i swear this time. i'm sorry."

and so he really did keep his promise. in fact, his hookups in general became less and less prominent, until he stopped hooking up with people at all. why? well because he developed feelings for you. he never planned on it, but it kinda just happened.

he realized his feelings when you first brought a date over to your dorm. he didn't like the way you flirted with them and how you laughed at all of their jokes. they should be laughing at my jokes, he thought.

so after that, he began dropping hints that he liked you. of course you never picked up on them. kaeya being a flirt was a normal thing. so it only made sense for you to not pick up what he was putting down.

but kaeya was determined. he was determined to make you his. he just needed a little push.

You laugh as you fix your collar while looking at the rearview mirror “It’s always about business with you.”

Asami was invited to attend a state dinner in Republic City as she has been coming up with plans on modernizing Republic City's Central City Station. Asami had a stroke of inspiration on the tram designs and wanted to work on the ramifications. So she couldn’t attend so you offered to go as a representative for Future Industries. Rather than attend this dinner by yourself, you decide to take Cinder.  The Head of Automotive Interiors for the Satomobile. You and Cinder, a firebender, have become friends in the past six months after going through a bad breakup. You decided it would be a good idea to bring a fellow designer to talk up the next line of Satomobiles while you talked about the business.

Walking up the steps into the government building where the state dinner was being held. You smoothed down your suit jacket and let out a deep exhale. “You good?” Cinder looped her arm around yours giving your hand a gentle tap. Looking over you nodded your head “yeah, all good.” you reassured her and gave her a smile before walking the both of you toward the doors giving the guard your invitation.

“There’s president Raiko, we should introduce ourselves” Cinder looks at you and she starts walking both of you towards his direction. “Mr. President” Cinder approached and Raiko’s brows raised as he saw you giving you a big smile, “Captain y/n! So nice to see you here!” he extended his arms.

You smiled politely before gently correcting him “that’s former Captain, Sir. I no longer hold that position, remember? I’m now working along with Ms. Sato at Future Industries as partner and Head Designer.”

You and Raiko grab each other’s forearms in greeting as you give a firm shake “Right, sorry Ms. y/n, but is it okay if I call you Captain still? Despite the trouble in the city you held that position well. Wonder what happened.” He spoke as his security team covered him, keeping him safe while the perimeter was protected with RCPD’s finest. He took out his metal cigar canister taking one out.

Raiko looks back at you and gives you a nod and you flick your finger, a flame coming out. An officer approaches to stop you but Raiko puts his hand up to prevent him as you continue lighting the cigar for him. “Thank you, Cap”

Cinder nudges you and fakes a cough giving you a cue “oh right so sorry” you apologized and turned dropping your arm down as you direct the attention to your date. “Mr. President, I would like to introduce you to Cinder, our brilliant Head of Automotive Interior of our successful satomobiles. She has been working diligently with our creative team on creating a beautiful car in the next season.”

Raiko gently shakes Cinder’s hand as she gives him a smile and respectfully bows “Mr. President, pleasure to meet you.”

“Oh no the pleasure is all mine. Are you two?” he eyes and points at the two of you. Your cheeks slightly blush “no no, sir. Purely business associates. We’re friends of course but just colleagues.” you clear your throat trying to bring down the head to your face.

A waiter with a tray of drinks comes by and you grab two glasses handing one to Cinder “Here this should take the edge off” you pass her a glass and watch as she downs it quick then grabs the one that you intended for yourself and downed it as well.

“Uh...that was for me…” you looked at Cinder then down at the two glasses in your hands

“Crap, I’m sorry”

“No worries, this isn’t my kind of drink anyways. Feeling better?” another waiter comes by and you set the two empty glasses on the passing tray. Cinder gives you a wide smile and nods “loads better. We should be meeting with these important officials on transporting vehicles for sales.” Cinder grabs your hand and tugs you along, but you stop. “Woah, how about you speak with Ambassador Zeng from the Earth Kingdom while I grab myself a drink from the bar.”

“Seeing as I took your glass back there. Fine. See you soon” Cinder gives you a smile before she heads over and approaches Ambassador Zeng.

You sigh as you near the outdoor bar unbuttoning your suit jacket as you wave a hand at the bartender, “a Pegu Club please” you order and the bartender nods as she starts pouring some gin, curaçao, lime juice, and bitters into the shaker with crushed iced. She starts giving it a good shake before pulling out a chilled cocktail glass and pouring the drink in it, finishing it off with a twisted lime and hands it to you. You gave her a nod and raised the drink in appreciation before taking a sip. Once you savored the alcohol you felt your shoulders relax.

“New haircut? Surprised to see you here”, it’s been a while since you heard that voice. It still gave you an effect as you felt the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. You inhaled before turning around and placing a smile on your face, “Chief Beifong, I’m sorry I can’t say the same. Figured I’d run into you sometime throughout the night, but it seems like you ran into me.” you calmly spoke as you took another sip from your drink.  

“Pegu Club?” she eyes the glass then up at you as a little bit of your facade escapes but you try regaining it and look away. “Yes, it is” you tap on the glass.

“At least some things never change...” She looks away at the surrounding scene, before her eyes look back at you. Noticing your physical changes, for once you’re dressed in a fire nation suit and your hair once long in length has been cut short. It looks nice on you, Lin thinks. Though the thing she couldn’t stop looking at were those eyes she missed. The bright amber eyes that seem to look like glowing embers from a fire. Sometimes it brought a shiver down her spine in the way you looked at her at night.

“It’s a favorite-” your voice brings her back from her thoughts and she looks back at you.

“I know….” a sudden softness slips from her voice, causes you to look up and meet those jade eyes. It causes you to lose your breath for a second that you need to take another sip to regain some control. Pegu Club was one of your go to drinks and Lin would often order it for you at restaurants and even tried to prepare it for you at home. Home.

“It’s good to see you Lin-I mean- Chief Beifong. I should get going. I left my partner alone long enough.” you stepped forward and started walking when Lin grabbed your arm to stop you “that Fire Nation girl you gallivanted in with? You sure have a sweet spot for fire nation don’t you?” she looked at you talking under her breath.

“What are you insinuating?” you looked down at her then darted your eyes around to make sure no one was eavesdropping. Lin doing the same. “Say it”

“Don’t act daft. First Iris and now her.” Lin put an extra emphasis on the word and you arch your brow up. Lin thinks you and Cinder are together. Is she jealous?

“You don’t know what you’re talking about, Lin. Please let go.” you mutter back and Lin’s grip loosens as you smooth the sleeve and button it up. “Now, if you excuse me, Chief. I have business to attend to” you bowed your head and walked away. Lin watched you go and pinched the bridge of her nose as she cursed herself for acting like this.

After talking to various ambassadors and important officials at the dinner making influences and possible deals with the neighboring cities and nations. Cinder and you decided to leave a couple of hours early before the festivities were to end.

“If you wanted to stay, I could have left you the car and I could’ve called a cap” you smiled as you walked Cinder down the steps to the valet. “Nonsense, what fun would I have with you gone.” she nudges you and you laugh nudging her back.

“I’m glad you came. I needed a friend tonight and glad you helped with the pitches. Hopefully we’ll hear from the assistants tomorrow morning on scheduling test runs and meetings.” you talked as the valet driver handed you the keys and you opened the door for Cinder. Cinder smiles and gives you a kiss on the cheek before squeezing it “look at you opening doors for me. So cute, but I could’ve done that myself” you laugh as you rub your cheek “I know, but let me do something nice.”

Cinder rolls her eyes and gets in the car as you close the door for her and starts walking around to the driver’s side. You open the door before looking up and see Lin talking to one of her officers and she turns her head and looks at you.

You sigh and tilt your head down on the roof of the car before you run your hand through your hair, “I’ll be right back, I forgot something” you told Cinder before you stepped back and walked over toward the Chief of Police as she orders the officer back to their post, “leaving so soon?” she folds her arms as you exhale “uh.. Yeah busy morning at work” you slide your hands in your slack pockets. Lin looks over your shoulder then back at you “is that what you’re calling it?”

You roll your eyes and look away “you can just say it Lin”

“Say what?”

“That you’re jealous for starters.” you smirk a bit as Lin rolls her eyes and shrugs “I’m not.”

“Sure, so you insinuating falsely over the relationship between my colleague and I twice in one night has nothing to do with you being jealous.” you pulled your arms out and folded your arms looking at the chief of police. The night late and a sudden chill with a couple party goers starting to leave and head to the valet.

“I have work to do” Lin snarls as she drops her arms and starts to turn. You step forward and touch her arm but quickly retract it “If you want to talk, really talk. I’m going to head back to my office after dropping Cinder off”

“Cinder?” Lin pursed her lips and you sighed getting the car keys from your pocket “office”. You sternly looked at her before you turned and walked back to the car. Getting in the car and starting it up “everything okay with the Chief?” Cinder looks at you as you slowly let go of the clutch and apply equal pressure to the gas, driving out of the area “yeah, just wanted to check up on former bosses. It was nice to see the chief” you look straight down the road as you drive away from downtown. “That lady scares me. She’s so intimidating.” Cinder taps on the window then decides to roll down the window as you let out a chuckle “yeah, she can be, but once you get to know her she isn’t all that bad” you turn a street and drive down the bridge until you reached Shassa Village. “You had to live in one of the fire nation neighborhoods.” a light chuckle as you looked at the street signs. “Well do I need to remind you that I am a fire nation lady” she ends in a sing-song tone.

“Yeah, but just because you’re from the fire nation doesn’t mean you have to stay in a fire nation borough.”

Cinder shrugs and smiles “it reminds me of home. Is that a problem?”

“No, of course not” you smile back as you pull up to Cinder’s townhome “alright, here we are.” you shift the gear stick in park, “thanks for the ride and for tonight”. Cinder gets out of the car and closes the door “See you bright and early tomorrow morning” she taps your car roof then walks up the steps and opens her door to give you a wave and you wave back, driving off.

Rubbing the back of your neck as you stare at your drafting table looking over the sketches you drew in the past two hours. Drinking the glass of whiskey you’re holding then rubs your eyes. It’s been the third straight night that you’ve snuck back to your office to work. Stifling a yawn then quickly blink as you set your glass down and grab your brush and softly brush off the eraser shavings from your drafting papers and get your pencil and compass to work on the new satomobile’s curves. You were planning on presenting a new line of satomobile, a luxury line. This new car would be sleeker with curves, integration of phones into the cars into the Public Switched Telephone Network of Republic City, and a better radio system.

Lin was able to secure and made sure everyone left the area safe and sound while her men checked surrounding areas. Saikhan approached the chief “I saw the state dinner was a success.”

“It seems it had” Lin gruffed back as she watched her men work

“Were my eyes deceiving me or did I catch Cap in the night? Did you request them to help us with the security intel?” He looked at the metalbending officers packing up the squad cars before looking at the chief.

“No, former captain y/n was here as a guest. It appears Ms. Sato couldn’t make it so y/n had to come as a representative for Future Industries.”

“Some snazzy date they had” he commented and Lin glared at Saikhan “apparently they’re just colleagues” she muttered and Saikhan nodded “So you two talked?”

“We ran into each other at the bar earlier in the night”

“Did y/n want their job back? As much as I hate to admit it, they were a damn good detective and leader” he gruffed as he folded his arms.

“No, let’s head back to headquarters. I don’t want to hear a word from your wife about how late I’ve kept you. All because you wanted to gossip.” Lin dropped her arms and started walking away, thinking back to her interactions with you throughout the night. Never forgetting how you looked and worked around the room.

You looked up at the clock and noticed it was nearing 2 in the morning. “I should leave now and get some sleep on an actual bed”, you muttered to yourself as you stood up from your drafting table and walked over to your desk to grab your jacket. You turned around to look out your office window as you fixed your sleeves and collar. A part of you was upset that a certain chief of police didn’t show up, although you understood. She had a job to do tonight and she most likely had better more important things to do. You sighed then finished off the whiskey left in your glass before setting it down on your counter. As you’re cleaning up your desk you hear the door open across from you “I’m sorry Jed. I know I promised to leave sooner, but-” you shuffle some papers into your portfolio.

“If you’re going to keep Jed up this late. He should get a raise or at least buy the poor boy a coffee. He was practically asleep when I saw him”

Your eyes widened as you placed your palms on the desk and slowly looked up. Lin standing across from you. Slowly stand up straight and walk around your desk “We provide our security with the amenities. I would have to check up on that later.”

For a second there was silence between the two of you and you were unsure of what to say “I wasn’t sure you would show up...”

“Neither did I...”

My goodness! It’s not too much trouble at all! I’m sorry it took me so long, this march has been... God surprisingly hectic for me but I love that everyone has really taken this AU in their stride so please PLEASE keep sending in your requests and I promise that eventually you will get a response! 

I’m so glad you liked my little spin on Benedict and Sophie, I know I cut out most of their story but I’m not sure there’s a modern equivalent to asking someone to be your mistress really, and this just seemed to fit better in my AU!

Anyways, their first date was a little... awkward. I mean literally what do you say to someone whose spent 12 months looking for you? That’s pressure. Okay! Let’s find out shaaaall weeee

Sophie wasn’t sure why she was surprised when Benedict had pulled her from his brother’s wedding, and they’d sat in his hotel room, talking all night. trading secrets between them. She’d stuttered out the awful truth about her upbringing half expecting him to recoil away from her, to tell her this had all been a huge mistake, but instead he wrapped his arms around her tightly, softly wiped her tears away with a pocket square she was sure was worth more than her entire wardrobe, and held her with absolutely no expectations. She’d fallen asleep clutching his chest, feeling safe for the first time since she was 4 years old. When she’d woken in the morning he’d said can I take you out tonight? And his voice had been so soft and gentle and his hand in hers had felt so ridiculously right that she’d said yes. He drove her back to London where she’d made him leave her on a curb 3 blocks from her flat just so he wouldn’t have to see where she lived with a hasty I’ll meet you there tonight, I might be running late from something and they both knew it was a lie. 

As soon as Sophie was alone, the gravity of the last 24hrs sunk in. Benedict’s sister in law and her strange friend? maybe? Lucy had been so kind and now she was sitting, wearing Edwina Sheffield’s borrowed clothing, Ben had appeared with the tshirt and shorts this morning with a shrug and a Eddie said to just give them back whenever, and she was going on a date with one of the richest men in London in a few short hours to a restaurant she knew by reputation but would have had to starve herself for a year to even afford a salad there. But then she thought about how warm Benedict’s kind smile was and the little flutter in her stomach and Kate’s voice echoed in her head You deserve to be happy and she forced herself to stay calm. 

Sophie stood waiting outside the restaurant biting her lip nervously, fiddling with her phone in her hands, a message had come through from Ben ten minutes ago I can’t wait to see you and the butterflies in her stomach had begun to beat even more furiously. the other patrons were eyeing her cautiously as they passed her on the street and Sophie fought the urge to run from a place that she’d never belong. And then he was there, grinning at her, his eyes a little wide with something that looked suspiciously like awe, kissing her gently on the cheek and presenting her with an enormous bouquet of flowers, looking unfairly handsome in his sweater and sports coat as he whispered in her ear You look absolutely beautiful Sophie and her heart had threatened to burst even as the black pit of anxiety threatened to swallow her whole. 

By the time the first course had been deposited on the table Sophie had barely managed to  stutter out 12 words (none of them in a row) to Benedict who was frowning across the table at her now. Panic was welling in her chest as she tried to force her way through the plate in front of her when suddenly Benedict stood up and said This was a mistake dropping what looked like her entire fortnight’s salary on the table  and Sophie’s heart sank, because he’d finally realised what she’d known all along that she wasn’t worth the fuss. She’d nodded a little resignedly and said I’m sorry I wasn’t- But her voice cracked and then broke off completely as she noticed his hand, held out towards her, a small smile on his face This place is too stuffy for us, let’s get out of here Laughter had bubbled up in her chest and she’d taken his hand, her anxiety melting away as he tugged her from the restaurant. 

Benedict paid ￡12.50 for their actual dinner at a tiny little café a few streets away and as he watched Sophie’s face light up when she spoke about cooking, and how to make the perfect shortcrust pastry he was halfway to being in love with her. And when he stood on her doorstep and softly kissed her goodnight he knew he already was.
