92-2808 - Whitworth after seeing John Lyons

This sketch was done our last full day in Manchester before heading to Scotland, so we spent most of the time repacking and weighing our bags. Later in the afternoon we wandered down the road for a brief visit to the Whitworth Gallery where we saw the John Lyons: Carnivalesque exhibition. Desenhar inibe o falar. Quando desenhamos é quase certo (não posso dar medidas exatas pois não sou neurocientista) que uma área do cérebro, mais silenciosa, se impõe à nossa fala. Temos que dedicar atenção para tirar do mundo real a abstração de linhas e tintas. Quando somos obrigados a falar, a narrar o desenho ou lembrar de uma história enquanto desenhamos, sempre alguma coisa titubeia, ou o desenho ou a língua. Deixei esse sketch para aquarelar depois, sabia que se fizesse na hora, no meio da boa conversa, iria estragar. On Saturday 3 August day we took a train up to Stockport from Manchester to meet with a friend and then did a hike from Hayfield to Lantern Pike.
