Women are willing to risk their lives to escape the life-altering, poverty causing, crushing responsibility of being a single mother for over 20 years, their entire youth.
Every child should be a wanted child. Unwanted children cause crime. They cost food stamps and welfare. Republicans hate those expenses. So, what you right-wingers will just let all the children you FORCED on women starve to death?
Jesus would weep over Republican cruelty.
Roe wasn’t the beginning of women having abortions
Roe was the end of women dying from abortions

One thing that bothers me so much is when a woman wants fertility treatment and people are like, "Just adopt." I don't think people realize that you cannot "just" adopt.
My aunt is an adoption social worker, she's my source here because I couldn't find official numbers. In the province of Ontario, there are barely any private adoptions per year (child adopted without CPS taking the kid away). Probably lower than 60 total and that's out of about 16 million people. Why? Because unwanted babies are either terminated (this post is not the place to talk about this debate, this is just a fact right now) or adopted by family (ie: teenage mom's baby is raised by grandma). There are no private adoptions to be had.
Foster to adopt? Not for everyone because the point of foster care is actually to return the children to their parents. You can have a child for 2 years only for them to return to their parents at the end instead. That would break some people. That would very reasonably be too much for some people to take, especially people who desperately want to be parents. Also, fostering can mean taking on a lot of medical and psychological issues that some people don't feel able to deal with, financially and personally. I have a ton of respect for foster parents and people who foster to adopt, but not being able to take this on isn't a moral crime. Also, less children available than you think, in 2022-23, only 456 adoptions happened in Ontario.
International adoption? Don't make me laugh. Just check the news and learn about how it's the shadiest thing in the world. Would you like to learn in 20 years that your child was stolen and has parents? It also tends to cost a lot of money, similar to fertility treatment.
The easiest way to acquire a human child is to make one yourself, that is a fact in high income countries in the 21st century. Stop shaming people for trying to use what really is the only option a lot of the time. And I won't even get into the social pressures that make a woman feel lesser if she can't produce her own children or if you happen to have a criminal record and therefore cannot adopt at all.
#this really bugs me#you can't just adopt#like it's literally not an option a lot of the time#and I know someone who adopted a baby and the parents changed their minds#she had to give the baby back at the very end of the time limit#can you imagine?#not jane austen#it gives me rage honestly#adoption#rant#my parents did foster care for 10 years#I got a good look at the system

Omg high I saw your post for Adam headcannons and would totally love one! Ty!!!
Personality: I'm generally a very calm, patient person, and I try at all costs to not become angry or frustrated easily. I really just hate the feeling of being angry or frustrated, and I try to be sensitive and gentle with people I stead of blunt or too forward. I can come off as quiet, even shy, but warm up to people quickly and will talk and or listen to someone for hours. I generally am very attentive and supportive of the people I care for, and one of my biggest dreams is to be married one day, though I don't want children. I think a downside of my personality is that I can be a little insecure, and the second I feel unwanted by someone in any way I close myself off completely and become cold, even if I really liked them. I also have a tendency to become very absorbed/intense about whatever thing I'm currently obsessed with. I consider myself very intelligent, especially in the traditional/academic sense, but am not as worldly or as experienced as I'd wish to be, since I've had a somewhat sheltered life in a small town.
Hobbies: I am a huge classic literature fan, and read constantly, especially anything from the 1700's or 1800's, though I also particularly love Shakespeare, Jane Austen and the Brönte sisters. I'd say I always love a good story, no matter what medium it is in.
I also really love to bake, though I'm not much of a cook. But I love just baking some cookies or something with an old disney movie on in the background. I love horror movies, unless they're gory, and I read a ton of comics, especially the original runs of characters like Thor or Ironman by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
I like video games as well, but am embarrassingly bad at them. Like I always put them on the easiest difficulty level possible, and my only strategy consists of doing side quests and random bullshit until I'm so overpowered for the main storyline that I can finish a bossfight on the first try.
And I love love love to shop, at malls, thrift stores or antique stores, and especially bookstores, where I always spend too much money.
I also write smut for people online so there's that.
Hello there !! Thank you so much for requesting, and I hope you have a fun time reading!! ^_^ I had an annoying day so I couldn’t wait to get home and write some of these AHAHA
Warnings for : ...long. It's long!!! Divider Credit : strangergraphics
. * Adam x You Headcanons * .
The first thing that I thought of while reading your personality’s rundown is that you never have to worry about feeling unwanted by Adam, ever. You’re this man’s everything, and he’s not shy to show or admit that he wants your attention constantly. He’s a clingy lover, the only thing he might be closed off about could be whenever he’s feeling down because he’s a bit proud, but he either looks completely fine on the surface if it’s something small or he’s very fucking dramatic about it, so you can tell he’s not ignoring you on purpose. He’s got this slightly attractive habit of telling you outright that he wants to do something together or he just wants you to be close to him;
“What do you mean you have to get up...? I want you by my side, babe...” “Come sit. Want you here while I beat these guys’ asses on this new videogame I bought.”
Adam doesn’t mind you being more on the quiet side, it just means he gets to talk more about whatever’s happening when he sees Sera and how boring it is, about how that one restaurant you guys recently went to sucks ass at making ribs compared to the one before that, about this new awesome idea he’s had for a song... well, let’s just say he’s got quite a few arguments both for you two and to bring out around friends or strangers if you feel uncomfortable coming up with one yourself. He also loves listening to your own rants about things that you love or you’ve learned about, especially when you’re in bed or on the couch in the evening: he will start out half asleep, but get more and more into it by the minute and have very dramatic reactions about whatever you’re talking about, and ask a ton of questions as he’s not the best at immediately retaining information.
One of Adam’s favorite hobbies is teasing you, especially about the fact that you’re bad at videogames and can’t handle gory movies. He plays every game on the max difficulty and he’s the literal leader of the Exorcists! Of course he doesn’t mind some fake gore on a screen. Though he’s super eager to help you with videogames and hug your side with his wing while you watch anything with gore in it, every single time. He’s smug at first, but will eventually pull you into his lap and just enjoy whatever you two are doing in the moment.
Adam’s also pretty lazy on days where he doesn’t have anything planned...but sure, he will accompany you if you decide to visit a store, whatever kind it is. He’s not too enthusiastic when it comes to bookstores, he will look more at the random things they sell on the side than at the actual books, but he doesn’t mind thrifting and antique stores. At first he was a bit bored, but everything changed when one day the two of you managed to go back home with a black Fender Stratocaster 1979, what he considers one of the best and most unique pieces in his electric guitar collection. Of course, he’s not knowledgeable in the history of most objects that reside in antique stores...but he now gets your fascination towards them and he’s got something to look for as well!
Overall Adam enjoys how many things he gets to learn every day while in a relationship with you. He also considers you very intelligent, and won’t shy away from telling you horrible pickup lines that are related to either how smart you are or something you know a lot about... he mostly does it jokingly and expects a cute or funny reaction from you, but he does mean the words he says.
I kept this for last because I thought it would be sweet; Adam is scared of marriage, hell, he was scared of getting in a relationship with you in the first place because he was not used to receiving that kind of love and attention every day anymore. So it takes a while and multiple conversations to get to a point where he’s comfortable with this, and you have to be patient, but eventually he does realize that you’re in fact not itching to leave him for another man and that reassures him greatly. So one time when you bring it up again, instead of having a full-on conversation about it, he just listens to you and eventually grabs your hands and smiles at you, the sincerest smile you’ve probably ever seen on him, or on a man for that matter. He’s ready.
Adam sucks at keeping secrets and doing things discreetly, but he tries his damn best to organize the perfect proposal because you deserve him doing this as much as he deserves you loving him. The idea of doing it during one of his concerts crosses his mind, but he surprises himself by scrapping it in favour of something more intimate: you wake up puzzled one day, your shared bed lacking the presence of your anything-but-early-riser partner.
It doesn’t take you much to figure out where he is though; the smell of something burning and the sound of his voice cursing Hell and all of its Sinners immediately guide you into the kitchen, where he’s clumsily trying to make you breakfast...that was...supposed to be in bed. You giggle from behind him, and clearly see his ears going red at the sound of your snickering.
“Ugh...whatever, never trying to be romantic again, fuck...”
You sit at the already set table and enjoy something you manage to bake together after a bit though, and he does laugh at your jokes, but he’s also a bit quieter than usual...which makes you start to overthink. The voices in your head quiet down however when he gets up and offers to wash the dishes, something he’s always hated doing, and tells you to not worry your little head about anything; he knows that look on your face by now.
Once he’s done he joins you on the terrace of your penthouse, where you’re pondering his overly sweet behaviour. One hug from behind and he makes his presence known to you.
He mumbles something...that you can’t quite catch at first, against your shoulder. Once you ask him to repeat that it surprises you even more how cheesy he sounds, telling you that he loves you more than anything, and that you’re the first thing that has made him truly feel like he’s residing in Heaven. He goes on and on about how sweet, talented and understanding you are, always making him feel like he’s worth something. And of course, how stunning; it’s mainstream to only talk about your facial features though, he decides, and so he moves on to how beautifully tender your hands are when you’re holding him and such.
You’re worried about him, at this point; so you turn around to face him...
...and he gets down on one knee.

Lucius Spriggs is a nobleman HC
my personal hc which i love with all my heart and soul and which seems so real to me is that he is from a noble family. my judgments are based on the behavior of the character in certain situations, and i hope that there are those who also think so.
first of all, let's remember that Lucius knows how to write, can read, and draw beautifully (whatever his drawings are). as far as I know, not everyone could get an education at the beginning of the 18th century (when the series takes place). the ordinary working class had no access to education, and the ordinary family never had books, and no one exchanged letters. even clerical work was available only to those who had money or connections (most often family). for example, in the Russian empire (I am from Ukraine and studied its history), only the children of wealthy citizens or nobles could become clerical officials and any other workers that were in any way connected with writing and papers. to get such an education, one had to either hire personal teachers or attend boarding schools (lyceums), where education costs a lot of money.
the working class never had access to education and even those who lived in the cities rarely knew how to read. such luxury was available only to wealthy merchants, family business owners or doctors, who also did not come from ordinary families. education needs money. much money. and so it has always been.
even if we assume that Lucius learned to write, read, and draw on his own, it still seems unlikely. how? tell me how many of you learned this on your own. to start reading, you must at least learn how letters are read. if his parents are ordinary workers, then they most likely could not even write their own name (they would not need to). and Lucius was able and very legible.
second, his behavior. Lucius is squeamish about blood, does not like to work, and most likely simply does not even know how to do any difficult work. looking at him, I see a man who has never worked and never did anything himself. even household chores seem to him incomprehensible labor. it seems that he will not survive on the street for a week if suddenly he does not have a penny in his pocket. it’s just that a boy from a working-class district cannot be such a kid glove, because in those days children were attracted to real work from the age of 10 (sometimes even earlier). if so, then a Lucius who is at least 17 should be able to do a lot of menial work, and not shirk even the simplest task.
i would also like to remember that Lucius is not inclined to communicate only in obscenities and simple sentences. he can speak in hints, express his thoughts, and formulate sentences. he understands people well, and even with his free attitude to love and sex, he fucks anyone just for the sake of sex. this and much more speaks volumes about his level of education.
also, let's remember how back in the first episodes he was able to tell where to go based on his knowledge of the weather. believe me, a cat man has never been to school and has not been to the sea, he will not know this. to understand such things one needs knowledge in geography, biology, and astronomy. such knowledge is given only in lyceums or colleges.
Lucius, I think, left the house after learning that he was engaged to some noble lady or that his wedding was already planned. such marriages without the consent of the newlyweds themselves were not uncommon in those days among noble families who thought only about purity of blood, status, and wealth. for him, his own freedom is clearly higher than material wealth, therefore this is a completely expected step for him.
call me weird or challenge my headcanon but I can't shake the idea that Lucius Spriggs is a runaway aristocrat from an unwanted marriage.

@ailesswhumptober day 4, "You're a monster" Also tagging @newbornwhumperfly
--
Melody and Serena had been friends since they were both dumped in the same orphanage, unwanted children, one hated by her father for killing her mother, the other hated by everyone in general. Technically, an orphanage wasn’t really somewhere you were supposed to go if you still had a living parent, so Melody had gotten picked on by the other kids; their parents were dead, hers just hated her. Serena had stood up for her, knocking heads and leaving black eyes on the crying bullies, shouting at them that there was always more where that came from. It had cost her three baby teeth and plenty of black eyes over their time together, but it got the message across.
From then on, it was just them against the world. The two of them staying up late, scaring each other with stories of werewolves and vampires, always waiting just around the corner, ready to snatch up little orphan girls and turn them into monsters. They scared each other with less-real things, too, like ghosts and fairies and giant spiders the size of horses, but the plausibility of a werewolf or vampire snatching them up, stealing the unwanted orphans, always made the terror that much more real. They made each other peanut butter sandwiches and constructed wild stories out of sticks and handmedown dolls. They chased each other around the beat up, muddy grass that was more dirt than greenery, they switched clothes and stole their minders’ makeup, pretending at posh adults, they watched Little Orphan Annie on repeat, wishing for their own Daddy Warbucks and friendly dog.
It wasn’t surprising, that when they were fifteen, hormonal, and curious, that they wound up being each other’s first kiss. Well, Serena had once kissed Jason behind the tree when she was six, but she’d been little and it had been a dare, so she didn’t count it. Melody was her first kiss, as far as she was concerned, the one that mattered. First girlfriends, first roommates, when they hit 18 and immediately got as far away from the shithole they’d grown up in as they could.
Serena dreamed of being an author. Of writing stories, the genre didn’t matter, horror, fantasy, slice of life, she dabbled in everything, stuck her toes in poetry and screenplays, did one atrociously bad standup comedy routine at a cafe’s open mic night that left the two of them giddy and laughing for reasons unrelated to her jokes, submitted short stories to zines and journals, threw longer pieces into the slush piles of publishing agencies, swore she’d make it by as a starving artist.
Melody, well. She’d never had anyone but Serena. And she’d never really had any aspirations of her own. She got a grueling job that paid well with long hours, and put every penny she’d earned into making sure Serena’s dream came true. She didn’t care about what happened to her, never had, never would, but Serena? She’d work twice her shit hours if it meant she could keep telling Serena “don’t worry about the money, baby, you just write your stories.”
Werewolf and vampirism were genetic conditions. The rumors that they could turn a human into one were just that: rumors. You were either born a were or vampire, or you were born a human, you had the genetic mutations or you didn’t. Simple as that. Easy.
Long held was the belief that procreation was impossible, between two people of different species. There was no mule equivalent of a half-were half-human, or a half-vampire half-were, or a half-human half-vampire. Unheard of that anyone would want to procreate with each other, their races locked in a multigenerational cold war that sometimes broke out in skirmishes that wound up with corpses on every side. To think otherwise would be impossible. And if you were a were, or a vampire, you knew from the day you were born, little fangs where milk teeth should be, fur across the back and shoulders as soft and downy as baby hair.
But Serena, at twenty five, was showing signs of—of being a werewolf.
The full moon had always made her a little twitchy, but now she could feel this thing inside her, this beast, a clawing, hungry thing that craved blood and meat and to run howling wild. Their apartment was small, carried by a single paycheck and occasional writing rewards, she and Melody shared a room, it was hard to hide from her girlfriend.
She could smell everything. Intense and distracting. She did dishes and cleaned up much more than she had, driven nuts by the smell of dust or soggy food stuck to plates or the general buildup that always favored showers and toilets. Melody smiled and kissed her and praised her for being such a responsible and impressive adult. Serena pretended she was just trying to pull her weight, the chemical smell of cleaner burning in her nose.
She was growing hair on her arms. Hair on her chest, on her shoulders, on her back. The hair on her legs grew in thick and fast. She shaved everything, every day, relentless about her appearance like she had never, ever been before. Melody ran her hands over Serena’s skin and praised how smooth and soft she felt, now, how Melody had never expected this outta her but how fun it was to rub her hands up and down the length of her. Serena kissed her and kept the truth fully locked.
She desperately researched half-werewolves, latent werewolfcy, anything, anything that could explain what was happening to her. She told herself that if anyone asked, she could just say she was doing research for a story. It was perfectly in line. Melody would never search her computer anyway, but even so, she obsessively cleared her search history, just in case.
It wasn’t enough.
It was never going to be enough.
The truth was always going to come out eventually.
“M-Melody,” she gasped, the too-sharp claws held out placatingly, hands up, fingers condemning.
“You—”
“Melody, it isn’t what it looks like,” she lied around fangs, the moonlight coming in behind her.
“You’re not human.”
“I—”
“You’re a werewolf.”
“Melody, no, it isn’t—”
“How long have you been lying to me!?” Melody demanded, disgust and fear and hatred on the face of the only woman that had ever loved her.
“I, just a few months, I didn’t know what was happening to me, I still don’t, Melody please, trust me—”
“You slept in the same bed as me.”
“Melody, please—”
“On the full moon, for months, you’ve been sleeping in the same bed as me! All our lives!”
“This didn’t happen to me all our lives! Please, Mel, I’m telling you the truth, it only recently started happening, and, and I don’t know what’s causing it and I, I, I’m scared, Mel, and I can’t stand to lose you, please, I don’t know what’s happening to me, I don’t want what’s happening to me, Melody please, please, don’t look at me, don’t look at me like—”
“You’re a monster.”

We live in a time where sex is free and love costs. Where losing your phone is more terrible than losing your morals. Where it's fashionable to smoke and get drunk and if you don't, you're an "old man" or a "boring woman".
Men cheat on their wives with girls and the other way around and if they don't cheat, the fear of being left dominates.
The bathroom became a photo studio. The virtual public presence to the normality. We live in a time when women are more afraid of an unwanted pregnancy than of the pregnancy itself. Where pizza delivery is faster than an ambulance.
Where clothes decide a person's "worth" and money has become more important than friends, even family. Where children are able to give up their parents for virtual love, where men and women want a non-committal relationship.
Where love has become a game in which you survive if you play with your head, and you lose if you feel with your heart.
What has this world become?
What has become of us?

Daddy’s girl
TW: daddy issues
Dad,
I love you, but I can't have hateful people in my world. You and I have never seen eye to eye, and I have tried all my life to be tolerant of your beliefs and even to understand them, but I don't feel as though you've ever considered where I am coming from. You act like being a peaceful person makes me weak. You deny that you have ever caused me harm. You have done nothing but reject me since the day I was born and yet I'm meant to keep making efforts to include you in my life? Take a minute and consider why I might not want to do that. Really think about it. I'm tired of being the unwanted child.
I have so many people that genuinely light up whenever I walk into a room; and you should have been first in that line.
You never wanted a daughter.
You never wanted me.
Why does it suddenly matter to you that we speak? You never showed up for me. Not once. Every over-achieving task I burdened myself with in high school was to prove to you that I'm a good child, a good person, that I was good enough. And I was always those things, it was you that convinced me otherwise. I would love to have you in my life. I would love to see you love my children. I have been a mother for 14 and a half years. You saw my son once at the hospital. You've never even met my beautiful daughter. I don't think you realize just how much you lost when you decided not to love me.
I'm an incredible person. I love everyone so hard that sometimes it is to my own detriment. I have sought your approval since I learned to walk. You never gave it to me. I don't need it anymore. I'm approving myself. I am who I am in spite of you. I love where you hate. I heal what you harmed. You can spend the rest of your life trying to convince yourself that I'm the asshole, but I remember everything. I remember dancing on your feet but I also remember reaching for your hand and you literally shaking your arm to get me off of you like some kind of vermin. You never knew how to love me, and I don't even think that's your fault, but it is your responsibility to heal your wounds and learn how to love in ways that don't hurt. You have no idea how many times a day my mind plays the soundtrack of my childhood. "You're gonna end up 16 and pregnant just like your mother". "I never met someone who talked so much and says so little", "I hate you, you ruin everything".
And the funny thing is, even with all the hate and vitriol you aimed at me as a helpless child, in spite of your constant rejection of my very existence, the part that hurts the most is that you never even tried. Not once.
Not a track meet or an ROTC drill meet. Not one brain bowl or one homecoming. Not one honor roll ceremony. I’ve never heard the word “proud” come out of your mouth.
I tried so hard to make you love me, and when you didn't, I spent years trying to find someone who would. I didn't know what love was meant to feel like because you were the only example I had. I thought love screamed and hit and hated, so I loved men who did those things. It almost cost me my life.
It ended a life. You would never know, because how could you? You’ve never asked how I am. You never cared what I’m doing as long as it didn’t cost you time or money. How would you know that I’m a mother of angels? You couldn’t know. You weren’t there when I cried so hard I threw up.
You weren’t there when I made a makeshift memorial in my backyard. You weren’t there for the days that followed. Pretending to be ok for my son. You weren’t there.
And now I have a precious daughter. The most beautiful girl on earth. Her daddy loves her. He reads her stories every night and tells her that she's beautiful and strong and capable. She is all the things you stole from me. You were given such an incredible and precious gift, and you did everything you can think of to destroy it. You only destroyed my need for your presence in my life.
I'm almost certain that I will never see you again, and I have made my peace with that. I have grieved for the father I never had all my life. I have never stopped loving you. Not one moment of my life, but I have stopped begging you to love me back. You are getting old and you are realizing now that you need someone who loves you more than ever. You need help and care and support that I just can't give you.
I refuse to tear open the wounds I've healed in your absence for your benefit. All you ever had to do was to keep me safe, to keep me warm; and you couldn't.
You didn't.
You chose WRONG.
You kicked a child out in favor of your wife. You knew she lied about me and chose to side with her anyway, and when she said "it's me or her"; you chose wrong.
You took me away from my brother. My dog. My home. You threw me away. You didn't even have the decency to keep up with our "daddy daughter dates" once a week while I lived with your brother; who is a good, kind, patient and loving person. You ruined me. Why on Earth would I want you in my life? I'm not a masochist. I have suffered enough.
You have a choice.
You can continue to blame me for everything and the decline of our relationship at the age of 11; or you can take responsibility for your wrongs and fight to prove you deserve to be in my life.
I already know which path you will take, but it doesn't stop me hoping you will prove me wrong.
I knew you for 13 years.
I haven't known you for 23.
You've become a stranger; one filled with hate.
Love overflows and fills every cup, hate has left you an empty husk.
I love you. Goodbye dad.

Reading this with the CJtheX book club.
Chunk one includes the below writings, and here are my partially digested thoughts on each essay in this chunk.
Skywoman falling
"they could not even imagine what beneficial relations between their species and others might look like?"
I don't blame her for approaching the creation narrative in Genesis with this take, but it doesn't sound at all like Eve was banished just for tasting the fruit. The biblical scholars from whom I have learned have always maintained that this was the only fruit she couldn't have, and that she was tricked into it, and that not trusting God and his word was the sin. But Eve had been placed in the garden not just to be banished, but originally to be a gardener herself.
And then when she was later an exile, it didn't seem like it wasn't still gardening that she was supposed to do - it was just now a more unpleasant gardening.
This all reminds me of the Make Gifts for People advice that John Green gave in his one video a while ago.
I saw a video that then pushed me to a Ted talk about how we all can learn from indigenous people, but the speaker also said that being indigenous was not the thing that the descendants of colonizers should aim for. And I was confused by that, but accepted it as a consequence for the sins of those who came before me and whose actions I now benefit from, at a cost to others' ancestors.
For all of us, becoming indigenous to a place means living as if your children's future mattered, to take care of the land as if our lives, both material and spiritual, depended on it.
So when Kimmerer says this, I'm sort of lost. As a descendent of colonizers (or at least of white people who were favored after the Initial Colonizing),I don't really know what I'm supposed to do.
The council of pecans
Love the idea of mast fruiting. Interesting science there. I don't have much more thought on that particular essay though.
The gift of strawberries
For the plant to be sacred, it cannot be sold.
The connection between a gift and something sacred is category expanding for me. Will have to dig into why.
Hm. Ok. I recently received some birthday money in a card. I hate cards, and don't know how to handle them, because they are usually a decent paper and are sometimes quite pretty, but they have generic poems in them and I don't really want to keep a box of generic poem papers around just because they were once gifts. So when the money came and the cards came (and I had a shit birthday, but that wasn't important) I just grabbed the cash and recycled the cards, as has become my typical response to unwanted paper. And that felt shitty, but I didn't really know why. And I wanted to respond to my gift givers, but I didn't (and still don't) know how. This validated that conviction I had that it was shitty, and has me resolved to go call my grandparents.
The idea of a gift economy sounds like heaven. It feels like the early church's impromptu socialism, and like when I get to give lots of candy to kids on Halloween. It makes me sad that we don't practice it.
The Lewis Hyde quote about gift economies, where he notes that it is more in harmony with how nature itself behaves, it snagged my attention for a bit.
I struggle to understand how geese are offering their lives as a gift to us when they are shot down and hunted. It totally makes sense that she calls it a theft of the life of a chicken in a factory farmed cage, but is it not theft of life to kill and eat a wild goose? (Not a vegan out of lack of energy, but I totally understand how those with the executive function to be vegans would come to that conclusion. I can console myself that at least I don't eat a ton of meat myself, but it's not like that absolves me by any stretch.)
Much philosophy out there makes me think of what kind of World we have. This book has me thinking about what kind of World we should have cultivated, and has me more convicted than anything else, more aware of the need for justice and restoration. In light of this, it's hard to feel satisfied by any worldview that doesn't bring what we've done to our world back into line.
The commodity economy has been here on Turtle Island for four hundred years, eating up the white strawberries and everything else. But people have grown weary of the sour taste in their mouths.
An offering
The coffee feels like a tithe
The concept of ceremony bringing our attention to a part of reality is part of what has me still attending the Anglican church, even now, as I'm not certain whether I really believe in Christianity or if I just received it from our culture and assimilated to try to fit in. I could have forgone church entirely, but I was too frightened to totally do that, and anyway there's something about the ritual that feels Real in a way that the goddamn non-denominational church's worship didn't.
What else can you offer the earth, which has everything? What else can you give but something of yourself?
Asters and Goldenrod
I feel a parallel, in my autism and how I felt as a teen, to her experience of having her love of plants and desire for botanical knowledge get crushed because she didn't know the right words to communicate what she knew deeply. Something about that story and her emotion calls me back to wanting to study psychology because I care about people (when really I was lonely and wanted to understand them so I could not be lonely anymore. Also, special interest) and being told that wasn't a viable career option. Ugh.
Science as a way of knowing is too narrow for the task... I should have been told that my questions were bigger than science could touch.
I feel like this essay speaks to my thirst for understanding and concrete foundational truths about religion and worldview. Science is too narrow for it, but also I needed a time of testing what science (or I suppose, skeptical philosophy) is capable of doing for us in the area of worldview, and it has also been a great new environment in which to be absorbed.
I received some Goldenrod in my garden last year just by random chance. This has me wanting to put asters in as well, replacing the invasive honeysuckle bush that threatens to overgrow every few months.
Learning the grammar of animacy
The idea of scientists naming things has always brought my mind back to the Eden narrative, where Adam is assigned the task of naming the animals. Naming and gardening were the two things we were asked to do. It makes sense that science and art would be so captivating to us.
What lies beyond our grasp remains unnamed.
The boarding schools thing has me, a very left human, feeling like we need less government so they can never do something like that again. (But I know that's an emotional reaction - not really a solid national plan.)
I envy her ability to teach herself a language so important to her.
Fuckin love that Yawe means "to be" and sounds like Yahweh - "I am".

have you seen LEYLA KAPLAN around the crash site? we’re trying to make sure they’re still alive after the crash! according to the manifesto SHE is a 30 year old CIS WOMAN. i hear they’re known being a PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR (independent). LEYLA is also known to be TENACIOUS yet also SUSPICIOUS at times. we have a couple questions for LEYLA when we find HER, we heard something about a secret they might have? such as SHE’S BEEN LIVING IN THE USA UNDER FALSIFIED DOCUMENTS!
basics.
full name: leyla kaplan
gender & pronouns: cis woman, she/her
age & dob: 30 years old / december 17th, 1970
birthplace: istanbul, türkiye
orientation: bisexual
occupation: private investigator
face claim: melisa pamuk
character study.
alignment: true neutral
personality type: istp-a
temperament: choleric
zodiac: sagittarius
history.
If her birth parents ever particularly cared for her, Leyla doesn't know. She has no memory of them at all, her early life spent in the halls of a cold orphanage. A runaway by the age of eight, most of her adolescence was spent on the streets of Istanbul along with the other unwanted children. It was a rough childhood, but it taught Leyla survival, something that would suit her well as she grew.
Being quick, observant and clever made for opportunity; what started out as simple tail jobs, a little spy in all but name for some jealous lover or greedy rival, blossomed into what would eventually become Leyla's career. She had a knack for it, that ability to squeeze herself in exactly where she wasn't wanted, even against the odds of those that did not want to be found. It was good money — or good enough, at least, to no longer live on the street. While an official job title was never taken, those who had information they wanted ferreted out would often find themselves standing at Leyla's door.
It was at the age of twenty-five that the brunette turned her attention abroad. While Türkiye had always been her home, Istanbul seemed more of a cage than a welcome, the memories attached to the city bittersweet. It had taken years to accrue the money for relocation, official immigration or VISA application was out of the question for an orphan girl with no real documents to confirm her existence. But her line of work had put her into contacts with a less than upstanding side of the city, including a forger capable of creating documentation that could get her into the United States — at a hefty cost. It was one Leyla agreed to pay, though, setting her sights on the California coast as her site of a fresh beginning.
It was a rough go at the beginning, but Leyla was no stranger to survival by the skin of her teeth. Putting the skills she had learnt in Istanbul to use, she slowly began to build a new life for herself, eventually even obtaining a small office space for official inquiries. The apartment she rented was shitty and small, but it was hers, and more importantly, it felt like home. It was a life she was proud of, until the day it was suddenly ripped away through her fingers.
present day.
It was her job ultimately that drew Leyla onto the fateful Flight 78. A wealthy spouse, intent on proving her husband's infidelity, certain his business trip to Sydney was actually a cover to go meet his lover had hired her services. Leyla was meant to follow him there — being on the same flight was a matter of convenience, that there would be no time for him to slip away at the airport gates — and collect proof of his cheating liaisons in order for her client to use in the inevitable divorce. If only she'd known the ramifications of what taking that job would be.
skills.
Though it has been some time since her days on the streets of Istanbul, Leyla has not forgotten what it felt like to have an empty belly. She knows how to ration supplies, is not too proud to eat what others would turn their nose up to. There's a wariness to her nature that never fully trusts, always sleeps with one eye open, and is well-versed with lack of typical comforts. At her core, she is a survivalist first.

By eliminating these obstacles, you open up the possibility for planting new trees, adding gardens, or even installing outdoor structures.
Safety Concerns: Old or damaged trees can pose a serious safety risk to your home and family. Storms and strong winds, common on the Gold Coast, can cause trees to fall or damage existing trees. Stumps, on the other hand, can be a tripping hazard, especially for children and pets. Professional tree and stump removal ensures that any dangerous elements are removed, making your yard safer for everyone.
Preventing Pest Infestations: Both dead trees and tree stumps are prime habitats for pests such as termites, ants, and fungi. These insects can spread to other plants and even your home, causing damage. Tree and stump removal eliminates these potential breeding grounds, keeping your property safe from harmful infestations.
Avoid Unwanted Growth: Left unchecked, tree stumps can produce new shoots and roots, leading to unwanted growth. This can be frustrating for homeowners who are trying to maintain a neat and tidy yard. Stump removal is the best way to prevent new growth and ensure that your landscaping efforts are not hindered by regrowth from an old tree.
Benefits of Professional Tree and Stump Removal Services on the Gold Coast

Cost-Effective: Although hiring professionals might seem like an additional expense, it can save you money in the long run. DIY tree and stump removal can be dangerous and lead to costly mistakes. By hiring experts, you can avoid the risk of damage to your property or injury, ensuring the job is done correctly the first time.

How Scrap Car Removal Helps Declutter Your Property
Having an old, unused car on your property can be more than just an eyesore—it can take up valuable space, attract pests, and even pose safety hazards. Fortunately, scrap car removal in Toronto offers an efficient and eco-friendly solution. These services help you clear out unwanted vehicles and bring several additional benefits. Here’s how scrap car removal helps declutter your property and improve your surroundings.
1. Freeing Up Valuable Space
An old car parked in your driveway, yard, or garage occupies space that could be used for other purposes. Removing a scrap vehicle creates room for parking, storage, or open space for outdoor activities.
Examples of Space Benefits:
Convert a cluttered garage into a workshop or home gym.
Open up your yard for landscaping or recreational use.
Free driveway space for new vehicles or visitors.
Reclaiming this area can make your property more functional and appealing.
2. Improving Aesthetics
A rusty, broken-down car doesn’t do any favors for the look of your property. Removing it can drastically enhance the overall look and feel of your home.
Visual Benefits:
Clean, uncluttered spaces make your property look well-maintained.
Boosts curb appeal, especially if you’re considering selling your home.
Prevents your property from becoming an eyesore in the neighborhood.
A tidy yard or driveway reflects positively on your property and makes it more inviting.
3. Enhancing Safety
Old vehicles left unused can pose safety risks. Rusted metal, sharp edges, or broken parts can cause injuries, if you have children or pets. Additionally, leaking fluids like oil or antifreeze can contaminate the soil and create hazards.
How Scrap Car Removal Enhances Safety:
Eliminates risks of accidental injuries.
Prevents toxic fluid leaks that could harm the environment and your health.
Reduces the chances of attracting pests or vermin that might make the vehicle their home.
Scrap car removal ensures your property is a safer place for everyone.
4. Reducing Environmental Impact
Leaving a scrap car on your property is inconvenient and can harm the environment. Rust, leaking fluids, and other contaminants can seep into the soil and groundwater causing pollution. Scrap car removal services handle vehicles in an eco-friendly way.
Environmental Benefits:
Recyclers properly dispose of hazardous materials, such as batteries and oils.
Usable parts are salvaged and reused, reducing waste.
Scrap metal is recycled, minimizing the need for new raw materials.
Choosing a professional scrap car removal service helps you contribute to a cleaner, greener environment.
5. Simplifying Maintenance
A neglected car can make your property untidy and disorganized. Grass and weeds may grow around it, pests might nest inside, and debris can accumulate in and around the vehicle. Scrap car removal reduces these maintenance hassles.
Maintenance Advantages:
More accessible lawn care and landscaping without obstacles in the way.
No need to clean up after pests or deal with accumulated debris.
Reduces the spread of rust or other decay to nearby objects or structures.
Simplifying your property’s upkeep is another reason to consider scrap car removal.
6. Financial Benefits
Many people don’t realize that removing a scrap car can be a source of extra cash. Professional scrap car removal services often pay you for the value of your vehicle, even if it’s no longer running.
How It Helps Financially:
Earn money for the car’s metal, parts, or scrap value.
Save on repair or maintenance costs for a vehicle you’re not using.
Avoid potential fines for abandoned vehicles or property code violations.
Instead of losing money on an unused vehicle, you can turn it into an asset.
7. Supporting a Cleaner Neighborhood
Removing scrap cars improves your property and the entire community. A cleaner neighbourhood benefits everyone and can even increase property values.
Community Impact:
Prevents the area from looking run-down.
Reduces potential environmental hazards that could affect neighbours.
Encourages others to declutter and maintain their properties.
Your proactive step can inspire a positive ripple effect in the community.
8. Convenient and Hassle-Free Process
One of the biggest advantages of scrap car removal services is how easy they make the process. Most services handle everything, from car towing to paperwork and recycling.
What You Can Expect:
No need to transport the car yourself—services come to you.
Quick removal, often completed in a single day.
Assistance with transferring ownership or deregistering the vehicle.
This convenience means you can declutter your property without stress or effort.
Conclusion
Scrap car removal in Toronto offers a practical and environmentally friendly way to declutter your property. This service delivers a wide range of benefits, including freeing up space, improving safety, enhancing aesthetics, and even earning some cash. Professional scrap car removal services from TOP CASH 4 SCRAP CARS is the solution. It can clean up your yard, boost property value, or make your home safer and cleaner. isn't it great living in a body with an organ that's trying to kill you, only held at bay by an implant, two daily doses of 750mg of medications, and a weekly injection, and if even one of those things is partially off, it will immediately become symptomatic?
isn't it great when this organ is associated with your birth gender and reproduction and therefore its potential to create and incubate an entire other human is valued higher than your own well-being?
isn't it great that every time you bring it up to your gynecologist that maybe it's time to remove the ticking time bomb from your abdomen before circumstances dictate for it to kill you, they just tell you it's not medically necessary and you have to wait until you've spent a year on gender-affirming hrt?
isn't it great knowing that if you lapse on your hrt or were to not want to take it in the first place for any reason at all, your only chance at a life without fear of a repeat of the ten weeks you spent hemorrhaging out blood would be snatched away from you, and the goalposts would move, and you'd be required to use your probably infertile uterus to bring three unwanted children into this horrible horrible world and misgender your wife to get a "husband's" approval before you could get your uterus removed?
isn't it great knowing that getting it out in the first place hinges on whether or not your insurance will cover it or if you can make it to another country where the cost is less obscene but will still probably require taking out some kind of loan or using some kind of payment plan?
isn't it great knowing that the government would rather spend obscene amounts of money on their military and police than improve the shitty healthcare system that has resulted in this whole situation?
Isn't it great knowing that if/when you get a job here, more of your tax dollars will go towards genocide than healthcare?
isn't it great knowing that god forbid the unthinkable could happen, and you do happen to be fertile, that you'll have to navigate a maze of political dissent and turmoil in order to avoid having a rapist's child?
what a great day to be full of blood that is vehement about exiting your body! what a great day to be totally dependent on a dysfunctional, dystopian healthcare system! what a great day to have a uterus! what a great day to be fending off death with naught but a few pharmaceuticals, one of which is a controlled substance, carrying all the baggage that comes with that title!
What a great day to be an american.

Keep Offline Copies of Travel Documents: Save offline copies of essential documents like passports, visas, and tickets. Email these documents to yourself for easy access.
Don’t Skip Travel Insurance: Investing in travel insurance can save you from potential hassles related to health issues, theft, or trip disruptions.
Carry a Refillable Water Bottle: This eco-friendly option saves money and reduces plastic waste. Many cities, especially in Europe, have free water fountains for refilling.
Get Credit Cards with Lounge Access: Travel credit cards offering free lounge access can save you money on food and drinks while providing a comfortable waiting area at airports.
Exercise to Combat Jet Lag: Light exercise, such as yoga or resistance training, can help you adjust to new time zones and reduce the effects of jet lag.
Avoid Airport Currency Exchanges: Airport exchange rates are often unfavorable. Exchange currency at a bank or use a no-fee credit or debit card for better rates.
