Giulia Pex was another illustrator that has a unique style that involves drawing characters along with photographs. 

The two series of pieces that I came across both involve using your imagination. One of them takes photos of the coast or beach and then has giant illustrations of different animals from then sea as if they were huge balloons being held by someone on the beach.

 The other series focuses on taking photos of both herself and her dad, and making them superhuman or having superhuman activities around them.

This appeals to me because what I want with my photos of Aberdeen is to open up people’s imaginations to see something that seems impossible. This is what happens in these illustrations.

Although I’m not new to tumblr, I am a new blogger. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved reading and writing. I was never really good at mathematics but hand me a book and I won’t put it down. I’m not quite sure what it is that I’ll blog about, probably a combination of things. Ultimately, I just want a safe space where I can voice my thoughts and opinions. “Untitled no.1″ is the first of many pieces yet to come. I know that I have a lot to offer the world, so I guess this will be my first attempt at getting it out there. If any seasoned bloggers come across this, please please please, feel free to send me any suggestions, tips, or even constructive criticism! I hope to be back tomorrow with a new piece ready to go :).

UNTITLED PROJECT: LA CHOCOLATERIE [La Boutique] [L’Atelier] [Le Journal] @ Galerie Analix Forever, Geneva, Switzerland, 2021 >>  Untitled Project: La Chocolaterie is comprised of three connecting parts: La Boutique, L’Atelier, and Le Journal (The Store, The Workshop, and The Newspaper). Untitled Project: La Chocolaterie [La Boutique] is a storefront/art installation in Geneva, Switzerland, featuring hundreds of carved and painted sculptures of Swiss-branded chocolate bars, based on specific cocoa-consumables from the past and present. These carved and painted chocolate bars are available for sale at the price of 100.00CHF, an amount roughly equivalent to one months wages for the average cocoa farmer working in the Côte d'Ivoire, Africa. The storefront space (La Boutique) is directly connected to the secondary space, Untitled Project: La Chocolaterie [L’Atelier] is an installation of more than a hundred different carved and painted sculptures of objects and tools from the artist’s studio, revealing the process of production for each of the carved and painted Swiss chocolate bars and pointing (somewhat theatrically) to the connections between commodities and labor.  The last part of this project, Untitled Project: La Chocolaterie [Le Journal] is a free, full-color, printed newspaper featuring drawings based on headlines and images taken from a wide range of internet sources and news websites covering cocoa production and the (Swiss) chocolate industrial complex.

When I was at the beach taking photos, I knew that the wheel at Cadonas would have to be a part of my section of photos because it stands out so much when you are at the beach.

It wasn’t until I was actually directly in front of it taking a picture of it that I started to think about tying it together with some of the cafes and ice cream shops that are on the boulevard. 

Ever since I was young, getting a 99 whippy ice cream at the beach was something that made going to the beach great, especially on a nice Summer’s day. I wanted to find a way of getting the experience of getting an ice cream at the beach into my photo.

Then when I looked back at this photo and I saw Inversnecky at the bottom on the picture, I noticed that a giant ice cream could slot into the gap between each carousel, just like the ice cream holders that you see in Inversnecky. I also wanted to keep the pattern that was on the carousels but with red and white to keep the sweet taste to it.
