My DDLC + OCs Headcanons-
I was bored and decided to this instead of being productive. (JKJKJK!!)
Monika- Cis girl (She/It) but in a forest deity type of way. Definitely has a love for music (Piano) and poetry. She is very much a lover girl when she falls in love with someone. Definitely neurotypical (I can’t pick up any ND vibes from here.) Pansexual Icon OFC! Definitely listen to that one Keyshia Cole song “Love” and Laufey. Has a bit of obsessive tendencies but not as much as Yuri. Definitely prefers tea over coffee. Still very much a perfectionist but is trying to get better at taking breaks when she needs it. I also headcanon her to be Swedish. (She’s a bit delulu 😺)
Sayori- Agender (She/They) She doesn’t really care how you refer to her as long as isn’t rude. Definitely Onmisexual (Pref for Guys) They have signs of ADHD but it was never confirmed whether she has it or not but the signs are there. (Parents didn’t get her checked out.) She prefers cold/warm foods and drinks. <— (Projection) She’s not a fan of people who dislike their friends or people who bash their friend’s interests. She definitely has depression if you know her well enough you can tell when their mood changes or when their happy go lucky facade is breaking. Sayori likes milk but prefers strawberry milk over chocolate. She definitely listens to Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor. (Definitely listen to Love Story by Talyor on repeat.)
Yuri- Demigirl (She/Her) She is a girl but not at the same time. She is lesbian demisexual in my opinion. She gives off Toriel (Undertale) vibes. She loves horror but something tells me she likes reading about women’s history as well. (Specifically Jeanne d'arc, Emilia Plater, and Empress Sisi’s stories.) I headcanon her to have Autism <— (Projection) and some obsessive traits. I also hc that she, Imogen (OC), and Sayori go to therapy together. She also doesn’t like to admit it but she sometimes likes reading with Natsuki. (I like to think that they trade books with each other but they think of each other as well.) (Like Natsuki will maybe pick up a Manga that has a few scary elements in it for Yuri while Yuri will try to find a horror or thriller book that is not too scary for Natsuki.) Definitely listen to Mitski, Marina and maybe The Neighborhood.
Natsuki- Transfem (She/Her) I hc her as Bi-Questioning. Like she knew she liked men but when she looks at pretty girls she can feel her heart flutter and a small blush spread across her face. (She also started to question herself when she noticed herself liking some females in the manga she reads.) She definitely has a lot of anxiety from her father’s outbursts. Which developed a lot of problems for her like being very reserved, she tends to push people away and has built a very high wall to keep people out but she desperately craves friendship and something like a sisterhood. (Examples: SSO: The Soulriders, MLP: The Mane 6, or even the Mario Princess: Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Pauline (Ik Pauline isn’t a princess but shhh 🤫) and she loves Manga and short stories. Listen to Lana Del Ray, Olivia Rodrigo and possibly Mother Mother.
MC- Demiboy (He/They) Definitely Aroace (Specifically Lithromantic Gray-Ace) He is very much neurotypical. He originally came to the clubroom to get with the girls but after a while his attraction towards the girls faded and they kinda stayed because they liked the girls company and because he was getting the hang of poem writing thanks to Monika. They give off Kris vibes from Deltarune. (Appearance wise) Very much introverted and socially awkward towards people and is a bit dense. He is a gamer but tends to stick to chill games rather than action pack ones. (Ex: Stardew Valley, Abzu, Animal Crossing.) But on rare occasions he does play Detroit becomes human, Untitled Goose Game, and Life is Strange. Listens to Will Wood, Pitbull, and James Arthur.
(OC) Imogen- Cis Straight Girl (She/They) Has Audhd (Autism and ADHD) and Social Anxiety Has a hard time making friends due to her autism and social anxiety making her a loner at school. <— (Projecting) Surprisingly MC was the one who came up to them and asked them to join the club. They were hesitant at first but MC reassuringly told her that it would be a great opportunity to make some friends and when she heard the word “friends” she immediately said yes. They love Greek Mythology and Dystopian themed books and they also indulge in romance books. They also happen to be a gamer as well. She mostly plays adventure games and some visual novels. (Ex: Sky: Children Of Light, Never Alone, Starshine Legacy, and Slay The Princess.) Imogen and MC watch each other play sometimes. (Like he could be playing Animal Crossing while Imogen is playing SSO {Star Stable Online} ) Very very much on the introverted side but is very passionate to talk about her interests. Also she listens to Beach Bunny, Kesha, and Loreen.
They are also in a QPR with their partner Zane.
(OC) Zane- Nonbinary (He/They) Aroace (Cupioromantic & Asexual) Neurotypical as well. He was a very extroverted person with any person they interacted with. Before they came to terms that they were Aroace they tried so hard to get those “romantic feelings” but every time he tried it always failed. He gave up on love for a bit but then a pretty girl (Imogen) came and invited them to a literature club? He decided to go with it and join the club. He is very much an expert at poetry but the literature he enjoys is Mystery and Graphic Novels. They give off great big brother vibes.. Is pretty much a big goofy teddy bear. Developed queerplatonic feelings for Imogen. They were the one who asked her out because she was too anxious to do so. Listens to Cavetown, Alec Benjamin, and Bo Burnham.
All together HCs-
MC and Sayori were both best friends when Imogen joined the two. Sayori immediately invited them with open arms.
Natsuki and Zane both team up to try to convince Monika and Yuri that manga and graphic novels are literature.
Imogen suggests that they could do book reviews and recommendations sometimes for a club meeting instead of just doing poems.
Like I said before Yuri, Sayori and Imogen are therapy buddies (They're also trying to get Natsuki to go to therapy but Natsuki is stubborn and says that she doesn’t need therapy.) (She very much does need it 😹)
Yuri and Natsuki spend time with each other in bookstores, cute cafes and maybe even at Yuri’s house doing a variety of things. From reading to binge watching shows to listening to random podcasts and music.
Monika and Sayori are such hopeless romantics wanting to be loved and appreciated by a significant other.
Sometimes the group will go to someone’s house and watch movies together. Everyone gets there early so everyone can have a turn picking a movie.
Zane is a very affectionate person while Imogen is very touch starved and she literally melts when Zane shows her any form of affection.
Everyone in the club has codenames for when they're talking shit about someone (That’s not in the club..)
Everyone cares and loves each other in many different ways.
Yuri and Monika often try different teas together and tell each other how they feel about it.
Yuri, Zane, and Imogen get along really well because of interests in books.
Sayori tries her best to help Natsuki with her eating habits. (Like sharing her lunch or carrying around an extra snack.) and Natsuki bakes Sayori some yummy treats in return for her kindness but not without saying that she was only doing it because she didn’t want to owe her anything.
That’s about it.. (Not doing ships unless it’s for my OCs.)
(Also Tell Me Why I Had Such A Hard Time Spelling Straight??? 😹😹)

EXCLUSIVE: Greta Lee is the latest to join the growing ensemble for Kathryn Bigelow‘s next film at Netflix. The untitled thriller also stars Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Jared Harris and Gabriel Basso. Bigelow will direct. Netflix had no comment on the casting.
The film’s title and plot remain under wraps, though sources have told Deadline that it will be set at the White House as a national crisis unfolds. The project marks Bigelow’s first feature since the 2017 thriller Detroit, an awards contender produced and distributed by Annapurna Pictures, which starred John Boyega, Will Poulter, Kaitlyn Dever and more.

Today's mix:
Caught in the Act by John Thomas 2001 Techno
Good lord, this was quite an extensive journey, folks. Back in 2001, France's John Thomas, who'd been DJing since the late 80s, *finally* put out the only mix that he'd ever release commercially in his entire career: Caught in the Act, on French label Logistic Records. The way this story goes is that Thomas decided to start producing sometime around '96, and then in '97 Logistic would launch with his own debut release, soon followed by some records that he had also made with a guy named Olivier Micheli too, under the name of Static Drum. In fact, although Thomas didn't found Logistic himself, it was pretty much either he or Static Drum that was responsible for the label's first 15 releases altogether, until Detroit techno legend Robert Hood broke that trend in 2000.
And in the run-up to releasing his debut LP, Blackstage, Thomas also put out this simply wild mix that same year, which really seems to serve as a contemporaneously multi-flavored and super dense clinic of highly rhythmic and throbbing techno music. It's not much to start, but eventually, when Thomas decides that he wants to solidify in a dark and dystopian direction, this thing ends up developing into a total monster.
And this isn't one of those linear mixes where tracks simply fade into and out of one another, either; JT's doing some pretty sweet multi-deck blending here. For example, he lets this mix's very own crown jewel, Umek's "Mamomit"—a song whose melody sounds like you asked a robot to play the most fucked up kind of jazz that it could possibly come up with—bleed all the way throughout the succeeding track, S.B. Project's "Cultural Co-Operation (B2)."
Some people may balk at Thomas' choice to not stay in one lane here, though. I mean, 33 tracks is quite a lot for just a 74-minute mix, after all. And while nothing beats the extended section of sci-fi madness on here, which on top of those two aforementioned tracks also includes Robert Hood's "Moveable Parts Chapter 1 Untitled 2," Olga+Jozef's "#07 B1," "A4" off of Ben Long's Imperial Leather EP, and the stunning "So Big So Close" by Diskordia as well, it does feel a little bit off when he decides to keep going after venturing outside of that realm. Like, I'll never say no to Andrew Mc Lauchlan's Brazilian-sampled "Love Story," one of the most essential techno tracks of the early 2000s, but it really would've served as a nice bow on this thing, especially since Thomas opened up his mix with a different Mc Lauchlan track too; it just doesn't really feel like there was a need to keep going with four more tracks after that one.
But be that as it may, the long and meaty middle of this mix is where it really truly shines; it takes some time to get going, and then it takes some time to peter out, but between all that is some terrific techno music and mixing, and after you give this one a complete spin, it'll probably have you wondering why this is the only set that this long-seasoned DJ ever ended up releasing 🤔.
Listen to the full mix here.
Highlights:
Sterac - "Liteon" Percy X - "Track 2" Alkahest - "Elemental" Umek - "Mamomit" S.B. Project - "Cultural Co-Operation (B2)" Robert Hood - "Moveable Parts Chapter 1 Untitled 2" Olga+Jozef - "Olga+Jozef #07 B1" Ben Long - "The Imperial Leather EP (A4)" Diskordia - "So Big So Close" Oliver Kapp - "Bella Figura" Andrew Mc Lauchlan - "Love Story"

WIP Wednesday - Eddie Diaz and "Buck"
Hello all! Just wanted to bring a bit of my new project, a sci-fi style AU (currently untitled) akin to Detroit Become Human (which I've never played but should). It's still in the works, but I like the idea so far and I'm excited to flesh it out and wanted to share.
Premise
In the near future, androids have integrated society and serve to assist with numerous tasks including Military applications, Search and Rescue applications, and basic household functions, such as meal prep, childcare, etc.
When exhausted former Army Machinist and current Los Angeles Firefighter and single father Eddie Diaz finds himself the recipient of a new prototype Executive Valet Android (E.V.An) codenamed "Buck", he's initially wary at having such a sophisticated piece of technology having access to his daily life.
But Buck does make his life easier, and soon he accepts the help. But having an android that is both so human and so alien can be jarring. Can Eddie keep the two separate, or will "Buck's" exceptionally realistic programming blur the lines between Owner/Friend/and perhaps even more…
Sample
“It looks so lifelike.” When Eddie entered the firehouse, bag slung over his shoulder, he noticed that the team was gathered near the foot of the stairs. Worried that he might have missed an important meeting, he jogged over to the collective mass. “Like, you’re messing with me. This is an actor or a prank, right?’ Chimney poked along the ribs of a tall stranger who looked entirely unaffected by the action. “Who’s this? New probie?” Eddie asked. He sized up the man in front of him. He was tall, taller than Eddie by at least a couple of inches, with dirty blond hair and the most affecting blue eyes Eddie had ever seen. The man’s features were casual and neutral, with a strong nose, pouty lips, and a small burn or other affect over his left eye. He couldn’t have been older than his mid-twenties. He looked almost too young to be a firefighter, if you ignored the fact that the man was built. Eddie traced the lines of the man’s chest and forearms with his eyes. The veins in his arms alone sent a tickle down Eddie’s spine, as did the tattoos. Eddie appreciated a well-formed build, male or female. It spoke to taking care of oneself. It spoke to strength, stamina, and dedication. It had been what had finally pulled the string in the net cast around him by his estranged wife. Her pregnancy had been what put a ring on his finger, but her ability to outpace him in nearly every activity was what had pulled him into her bed.
And this? This was a form he could appreciate. “Not a probie,” Hen said, looking up at the man. “An E.V.An.” “A what?” Eddie pulled the slipping strap of his bag back over his shoulder and crossed his arms. “It stands for Executive Valet Android. It’s a prototype from the applied robotics division at Karen’s lab.” She looked up at the tall blond in something akin to awe. “This one’s designated as ‘Buck’.” At the sound of its name, the blond focused those piercing eyes on Hen. “Hello, Hen.” its voice was warm, not the artificial chirrup that Eddie associated with androids. Chimney was still poking about its ribs, and when it looked at him, he abruptly stopped.
Eddie was curious. And skeptical. He padded around Buck, his keen eyes focused on every feature he could take in. Buck turned its gaze to follow him as he circled around the android. “No. I’m with Chimney. This is a stunt.” When the rest of the team turned to him, he shrugged. “I worked with automata in the field. Combat Mechanist, remember? The army had some of the most sophisticated units to ever be developed.” He looked at Buck. Its unwavering gaze focused on him as he spoke, its head cocked ever so slightly to the side. “This?” He gestured with his hand toward Buck. “This would be lightyears beyond anything that I’ve ever seen.” “Welcome to the future then,” Hen said with a broad smile. When Eddie continued to appear unconvinced, she sighed and stepped in front of the tall blond. She rested her hand on Buck’s shoulder, fingers along the ridge and thumb pressed lightly against the pulse point of its neck. Buck’s demeanor never shifted at the intrusion into its personal space. Eddie watched the display, the casual intimacy of the touch. The way the man appeared wholly unmoved. As far as performances went, he deserved an Oscar. After a beat, a quiet chime sounded. It appeared to emanate directly from Buck himself, but that was impossible. “Buck, diagnostic mode.” Chimney audibly gasped as tattoo on Buck’s arm, a concentric ring of lines and dots, animated and began rotating, pooling under the skin like some sort of LCD display. The man’s eyes faded from sky blue to a milky white, and if Eddie hadn’t physically seen the small panel underneath Buck’s arm unfasten, he would have likely believed the other man was having a stroke. Hen removed her fingers, and casually lifted the man’s arm, exposing a small touch screen embedded inside his skin. Servos and actuators and extremely complex wiring systems with diodes in every possible color blinked, hammered, and pulsed in the cavity behind the screen. In all his years, Eddie had never seen anything so surreal, so entirely foreign.

“It is very important that black independent films get seen. We need to start getting used to black people. They exist. And they've been around for a long time. It's amazing that people still feel, "Oh my gosh, it's a black guy." We've been here for a long time, let's get used to it.” John Boyega

Movies Coming Up in 2017 for People who go to the movies more than twice a year
Well before 2016 ended, the hype train was already rolling for 2017 CGi-fests like Dunkirk, The Amazing Spider-Man and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Fifth One. I want to see all those, too, but if history prevails they won’t be the ones that really stick in my craw as the year comes to a close. These might not, either, of course, but for those of us who need more in our movie diets than spectacle, I plucked a few promising films that aren’t about superheroes or battles. Note I have relatively little info to draw on for anything beyond spring, not being any kind of insider, so I no doubt missed a ton of promising ones. Maybe I’ll do a second list later.
Song to Song The story of this Terrence Malick movie is about rock 'n' roll...wait a second. It's a Malick thing? Who cares what the story is? Whatever bizarre and lovely fever dream he comes up with isn't gonna fit in a plot description. Formerly called Weightless, it features, like all of the suddenly prolific director's recent efforts, an all-star cast of names like Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman and Chris Combs as "Roadie (Uncredited)". There's some bands you might know, too. It releases where you live March 17th, as long as you live in New York or L.A. (at least that's usually how this goes).
Wilson Not every comic adaptation involves hitting people, as your friend who hates (pick one: Marvel/DC) will be only too happy to remind you every single damn time you just want to go get some damned popcorn and a damned soda and simply enjoy a few hours of your shuffling, grey, meaningless existence. For the more esoteric comic lover, there's this story of an out-but-not-down loser who discovers he has a teenage daughter. Daniel Clowes also wrote Ghost World, which was made into a perfect movie. Hopefully this one is stewarded half as well. March 24.
It Comes at Night Stop snickering. Stop snickering! Act your age. Where was I? Oh, yes. This horror thriller starring Joel Edgerton features a creepy poster of a cat walking through a dark yard, and for some reason reminds me of those old Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books, which were responsible for 57.9% of all my childhood nightmares. The director, Trey Edward Shults, was an intern on three Terrence Malick films. I don't want to jump the gun and say this may be as close as we'll ever get to finding out what would happen if Malick ever made a horror movie, but this is probably as close as we'll ever get to finding out what would happen if Malick ever made a horror movie. I threw the "probably" in there to cover my ass. June 9.
The Beguiled Some of us just really love westerns. We love to dream of an era when interstate travel took three years and you had to literally shit in the woods. It can be hard to come up with new ideas in a genre so defined by tropes, so instead Sofia Coppola decided to remake a Clint Eastwood movie you don't remember. With her behind the camera, though, and the likes of Elle Fanning, Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman in front of it, we know at the very least the style will be there. Coppola's movies are always sumptuous and divisive, making me wonder what will happen when she meets a genre often resistant to change. It might be another Hell or High Water. It could also be The Missing. We'll find out on June 23.
My Cousin Rachel This movie is a strange semi-autobiographical film in the vein of I'm Still Here, starring Rachel Weisz as a version of herself that...that's not what it's about? Then why is someone named Rachel in it? Oh, okay. This sequel to My Cousin Vinny...not that either? Oh, I see, it's actually an adaptation of a Daphne du Maurier novel. Well, that's still kinda cool, since Rebecca, one of Hitchcock's best, was also from du Maurier. Director Roger Michell helmed the forgotten-but-excellent Changing Lanes, so he's got the thriller chops. July 14.
All I See is You Marc Forster directed Finding Neverland, Monster's Ball and Stranger than Fiction. He also directed Quantum of Solace and World War Z. Clearly, character driven work is more his forte, and his latest film, about a blind woman who re-evaluates her life when her sight suddenly returns, seems to skew toward his strengths. Since humanity has somehow decided that who is on the screen is a pretty good indicator of whether a movie is good or not, and the biggest star in it is Blake Lively, it has an uphill battle at the Box Office, but Forster's shown a knack for taking unusual characters and making them interesting. August 4.
Untitled Detroit Project This is the best name ever and it should be kept for the finished film. Kathryn Bigelow's based-on-a-true-story (or, knowing the movies, sort of based on some things that happened during a true story) film takes place during the 1967 Detroit riot. This surpassed the 1943 Detroit riot in chaos and destruction, and itself was not eclipsed until Black Friday 2010, when the Best Buy in Flagdover, Connecticut ran out of the cheap big screen TVs. While I can't see how this subject could possibly relate to the peaceful, inclusive and prosperous times we currently live in, Bigelow's got skills, and this should still be worth watching. August 4.
Victoria and Abdul This one has Oscar bait written all over it, but the good kind, with chocolate chips and peanuts and...look, I don't do a lot of fishing. I assume good bait has chocolate chips. Anyway, it is about Queen Victoria and a Muslim attendant she became close to, and how they secretly rode across Europe hunting werewolves and vampires. It features several things award shows love, like being a historical drama set in England and having the very English Judi Dench and the also very English director of The Queen and Philomena, English movies Oscar loved. Also it is set in England. It has the added benefit that it will almost certainly be ignored by people who went to see Transformers 17 at midnight. It starts a limited run September 22nd, which means if you live pretty much anyplace you can see it a few weeks after that.
The Snowman I'm just going to quote the plot description from Wikipedia here: "Detective Harry Hole investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around an ominous-looking snowman." Now that sounds like B-movie greatness. Harry Hole, he's the Hole Deal. When a plague of ominous snowmen...wait, they're serious? This is a for-real major theatrical release with Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson and J.K. Simmons? But that set-up is so good! You could have had snowmen EATING people! It woulda been like those old Calvin and Hobbes strips brought to life! Apparently they are still filming, so it isn't too late. Sure, Tomas Alfredson also directed horror darling Let The Right One In, so it'll probably be worth seeing, but...killer snowmen! We'll find out if they're willing to make the movie we really want to see on October 13th.
mother! For some reason the title of this Darren Aronofsky film isn't capitalized and has a shout on the end of it. Given the title and Aronofsky's body of work, this is almost certainly a heartwarming film about how a family, once torn apart by tragedy, comes to reconcile with their mother, who left them when they were all 3 1/2 to try and do something noble. Misunderstandings and hankies will flow freely, there will be a heartwarming ending, and absolutely nothing about it will be psychologically unsettling. It stars major talents like Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris, as well as someone named Jennifer Lawrence, who I'm told has the potential to be a big deal sometime in the future. October 13th.

Confira:

O filme também conta com a participação de atores como John Boyega (Star Wars: O Despertar da Força), Will Poulter (O Regresso) e Anthony Mackie (Capitão América: Guerra Civil)

RESEARCH: THE ARMED ⋈
The Armed are an anonymous hardcore-punk collective from Detroit, Michigan. The people pictured above may or may not actually be in The Armed. The Armed claim that they are, along with about 100 other people.
However, The Armed are not to be trusted...
Formed in 2009, The Armed have made a name for themselves through misdirection both with their music and aesthetic. Many theories have circulated regarding their origins or who is even the band at a given time. Theories range from them being an elaborate performance art project to them being a corporate ad-agency, or a bunch of other equally absurd but just as likely possibilities.
Regardless of who or what they are, what is clear is that The Armed are not your average punk band. This becomes very evident upon glancing at their album artwork, pictured above.
The top image, from their Untitled (2015) album depicts one of their “members” in what is clearly an homage to David Bowie's classic Aladdin Sane (1973). Their follow-up Only Love (2018) looks like it could be a scene from Rihanna’s ‘Work’ music video, while their most recent album, ULTRAPOP (2021) could have very easily been styled by Tyler, The Creator.
In each of these album covers, the design is sleek, the images crisp, and the content is accessible. One might even dare to say “hip”. This is in complete opposition to everything a hardcore punk band is “supposed to be”, yet The Armed have successfully melded these pop sensibilities into some of the loudest, noisiest songs ever put to record.
And it is exactly this juxtaposition that make The Armed (as they self-proclaim) earths greatest band... or at the very least its most interesting.

Cheesy, catchy, bizarre earworms. Chintzy electronics, drum machines, treated/processed guitars, often questionable vocals. But impeccably written and conceived. Pop hits that never were, and never will be. For the most part.
This is the wildest, most entertaining mix I've made. Some of the strangest songs you'll ever hear, but also some of the most heartbreakingly gorgeous. There's a little bit of everything included: Electro, Synth-pop, Dub, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, Japanese New Wave, Neue Deutsche Welle, Cambodian pop, Hindustani pop, Detroit Techno, Computer Disco, Italo-Disco, Italo-trance, electronically processed vocals, synthetic slap-bass, whatever the hell Ciccone Youth is, the always uncategorizable cacophony of Men's Recovery Project, six magical seconds of Brian Eno, and an 11-year-old girl. Enjoy...
