Paulina was walking home from her little self-care date~ when she noticed a familiar figure, she slowed, double checked to make sure it wasn't some random civilian, grinned and-
threw her knife!
Wes caught it, because of course he did cautious bastard. And yes she realises this now that fighting on the street was not the smartest move but it was a long time since she saw her friends from Amity and they got along fairly well with Weston.
So they had a good time, she managed to nip him on the cheek with her knife (after taking it back) he left her with a new bruise (it will be gone by tomorrow noon) and then they were both taken in by the police...
And now she has to explain why she did what she did to the GCPD and Ancients help probably Batman as soon as she gets back to her apartment. Who could've guessed that having a friendly brawl would be so taboo in Gotham? (who is she kidding of course it's suspicious it looked like they were trying to kill each other to any normal person!)
and she's not sure how much she should say!

yeah maybe danbert isn't canon but when one of them is trying to distract themselves listening to the other have sex, goes upstairs and there's a shot of him looking on longingly at what he can't have before going downstairs looking at the ground and sadly running his hand along his shirt and tie what else can it be?

Arguing about my complete Luigi Mangione opinions would get both sides mad, which is fine. But it would also distract from the part where I'm just correct, which is that Alvin Bragg charged a guy with a crime he has to know he's innocent of, and, worse, that's pretty normal for prosecutors.
Fundamentally I care more about Bragg's behavior than Mangione's because one of those two people is likely to get someone killed in the next year.

a tactic of abusive parents that i don't see brought up very often: convincing their victims that child protective services are evil and that foster parents would certainly be even more abusive than their current circumstances
#eliot posts#csa mention#abuse mention#im watching an interview with a cult survivor#and she was talking about how her parents told her that child services would hurt her and put her with abusive foster parents#and i was like HOLY SHIT MY MOTHER DID THAT TOO#my mother always told me that if i got put in foster care i would get beaten and molested#and that if we told anyone about our home life they would ''misunderstand'' and ''incorrectly assume'' we were being abused#and then we'd get taken away by uncaring cps workers and given to evil foster parents#when in reality there would be no ''misunderstandings''. what was going on at home WAS abuse#but until my teen years i was convinced i was lucky#because i only got beaten sometimes and i got access to food and a roof over my head and i never got molested#this is not to say the foster system is perfect. there definitely are flaws in the system and occasional bad incidents#but it's nothing like my mother made it out to be#in fact the main issue with child services in my area that i knew of was that they rarely did much#like a classmate i knew called cps on her dad and they showed up and talked to him and he said she was lying#and when they left he punished her by burning her with a cigarette butt#when we were kids a few times our mother called the cops on our dad cuz they got into a violent fight#she'd tell the cops he was abusing her (though the violence was mutual) but when they showed up she refused to press charges#and a few times the cops SAW me and my sister there and DID NOTHING#like maybe if you get called to this same house multiple times you should investigate what's happening to the kids???#child abuse#abuse#abuse tw#anyway i'm still not 100% sure if that was deliberate manipulation on her part or if it was part of her weird paranoia about everything#but nonetheless it ultimately had the same effect as deliberate manipulation#she refused to get help for her mental illness even though a doctor told her she needed to

Cops & Robbers Pt 2 - First | Next
[]
By the time Karadec arrives at the bank, it's barricaded and crawling with law enforcement. Looking up at the bank's façade, unsteadiness pools in his stomach. He isn't technically authorised to be here, but. Where else would he be? With a flash of his badge, he slips into the sea of personnel.
The mobile command center is situated at the nexus of police activity. As he weaves toward it, he passes teams of armored officers, spots snipers on every roof, and hears the thrum of a helicopter overhead. Wearing only plain clothes, he feels even more out of place, wholly underdressed and vulnerable. He can't imagine how Théa and Morgane must feel.
He wonders, absently, what ridiculous clothes she's wearing today. He wishes he could see her. Wishes he'd said yes. To needing her, to there being a case. Maybe she wouldn't be trapped somewhere he can't reach her if he had.
He strides into the command center, and it doesn't take long for the RAID commander to notice him. "Who are you?"
"Commandant Karadec, Lille Judicial Police." He reaches for his badge, but the commander's more focused on an array of screens showing live footage around the bank.
"Pleasure to meet you," the man intones, "but I'm going to need you to step outside."
"With all due respect, sir," Karadec steps forward, "my partner is in that bank."
The commander turns abruptly. "We've got a cop in there?"
"She's a consultant," he corrects instinctively. "We were on the phone when the robbers took over the bank. She said there's four of them, dressed up in doctor's scrubs."
"Anything else you can tell me?"
"They're armed with assault weapons. Various accents. The one I spoke with sounded American."
"You spoke with one of them?" He makes out the name Peltier on the commander's uniform. "What was the demeanor like?"
He pauses, remembering the chill he felt when the robber so casually threatened Morgane. "Calm. Very calm."
Peltier nods slowly, then turns back to the video screens. "Thanks for the intel. We'll do everything possible to get your partner out safe."
His stomach lurches. He has nothing left to leverage, but he can't—He needs to be here. To know what's going on, to be doing something. He works his jaw, trying to summon Morgane's endless charisma, her impish ability to worm into anyone's business.
"You missed your cue," Peltier calls over his shoulder. "You want to help your partner? Stay out of the way and let me do my job."
Karadec doesn't slam the door on his way out, but it's a near thing.
Gilles and Daphné are waiting for him by the police barrier, bobbing anxiously and checking for texts every few seconds. Daphné spots him first. "Did they tell you anything?"
"Only that my services aren't wanted," he scowls, and they deflate, concern and despair evident on their faces. He's reminded he's not the only one trying to look out for Morgane. He has a team who will back him up and is as eager to help as he is. They just need someone to direct them.
"Gilles, there's a unit on standby to storm the building; figure out what they know. Daphné, look for other robberies with similar M.O.s."
Reinvigorated, Daphné takes off, typing rapid-fire.
Gilles heads off in the other direction, but hesitates a few steps in. "Do they," he grimaces, "do they know anything about the hostages?"
Karadec exhales slowly. "I don't know."
Gilles nods, eyes scrunching sympathetically. "Good luck."
He nods back, reaching for his phone. If Peltier won't let him in, maybe Céline knows someone he can petition for more clearance.
But before he can even unlock his phone, someone calls out, "Commandant Karadec!" It's an officer from the command center. "Commander Peltier would like a word."
His return to the command center has Peltier's full attention. "You want to tell me what were you thinking?"
"Pardon?"
"As soon as I get our bank robber on the line," Peltier barrels on, "he says, and I quote, 'I will only talk to the Super Cop.'"
Ah.
"Yeah, I thought so." Peltier scans his face. "You wanted in? Well, you're in."
What? Karadec blinks, in shock. Of course, he'd like to be in the know without going over any heads, but "Sir, I don't have any training in hostage negotiations."
"And I don't have time to give you a seminar," Peltier snaps, "so think of it like this: do the opposite of whatever interrogation training tells you. Don't yell, don't bully, don't threaten him in any way. You do everything you can to keep him calm."
The sense of unsteadiness returns. He runs the advice over in his mind, rapidly attempting to weigh the pros and cons. This is his opportunity to do something and stay apprised of the situation inside the bank, but can he pull it off? What if he screws up? How many people could die as a result of his inexperience? He can't believe he rushed into this without a plan. Peltier stares him down, but he needs more time to think.
"Commandant. Are you up for this?"
A flash of red pulls his attention to the video screens. It's her car, illegally parked.
He's done a lot of new things for Morgane and made a lot of poor decisions. What's one more?
He squares his shoulders, facing the commander head-on. "Absolutely."

modern au dad askeladd except he's not an actual dad but this random kid shows up to his house every day and tries to have beef over the closed food store askeladd bought and turned into an antiquarian store. turns out the food store used to be run by the kid's father until he passed away which is very sad of course but also askeladd is not gonna cooperate with some brat that borderline harasses him day by day. only that he can't call the cops because he kinda has a turbulent past and if they find out he's filling his store with stolen goods it's gonna become a huge problem. and note to destiny, the stupid kid finding out is not that great either because now he has to hear it out if he doesn't wanna go to prison and also he should probably learn the demon child's name while he's at it. shenanigans ensue.
#askeladd agrees to honor the memory of thorfinn's dad and in return thorfinn won't call the cops on him#then they fight about how the honoring should be done#askeladd doesn't want to change his entire store's image only to make sure people don't forget about the former owner#and thorfinn isn't satisfied with just a sign with his dad's name on it which is as far as askeladd is willing to go#things change when some rich jackass wants to buy every building on the street and turn the whole area into a luxury resort#now thorfinn and askeladd have to work together because thorfinn doesn't want his dad's store to vanish#and askeladd doesn’t want HIS STORE to be torn down because smuggling the stolen stuff out of town would be a pain#(also affordable houses with basements big enough to keep the meth laboratory running are rare these days)#(also also thorfinn learns some kind of martial art in the dojo across the street which is whatever but the coach is really nice)#(like. REALLY nice.)#(with a nice voice and a nice face and nice muscles and as if that wasn't enough he makes a kickass apple pie)#“bjorn is single btw” - “shut up thorfinn” - “i'm trying to help” - “go bother your twink why dontcha”#yeah thorfinn actually manages to make friends with the son of that asshole that tries to get their houses#great for the brat of course but now askeladd has to deal with a snobbish teen criticizing his cooking#not to mention the nosey nanny slash accountant the rich idiot hired to keep his twink son entertained who's very curious about the basement#he also knows a lot about modern art which. not great. well great for him but not for askeladd.#anyway tldr#askeladd has to save a street while trying to raise two boys that aren't his not falling in love and keeping ragnar out of the meth basement#thorkell is the construction worker hanging around and refusing to do his job until sven pays him quadruple the original agreement#vinland saga#bjornskeladd#thornute#ragnar and thorkell are also there#and sven but no one wants him to

i went plinking yesterday for the first time and had a lot of fun, I've been wanting to familiarize myself w my airsoft gun more since it's hard to find a good secluded spot where u don't have a risk of ppl walking by.
we just hung a tin can from a tree branch and shot it from different distances, but it was very satisfying to pick it up that quick 🌝 i also love getting ppl to try something they don't usually do and learn with you.

i really dislike how people view your behavior/feelings toward dogs as like. a litmus test of your inherent goodness or whatever. if you dont like dogs you’re Odd. if you dont try to pet random dogs thats Strange. if you dont try to rescue stray dogs thats Heartless. if you kill a dying dog instead of making it suffer thats Cruel. if you like dogs youre Correct. if you see a dog and want to pet it you are Normal. if you see a stray and try to take it to the vet or adopt it you are Kind. if you force an animal with shit quality of life to survive because your feelings are more important to you, you are Good.
and its fucking bullshit!

i beg any shameless blogger to think a fucking second before being like "so-and-so should've called the cops in this situation" because you are almost certainly fucking wrong. this includes calling the cops on kash not because kash wasn't being horrible but because having him arrested would involve:
outing ian
forcing ian to be cross examined by lawyers in testimony
potentially leading to the security tape being played in front of 15 probably total strangers
leaving ian feeling like he's lost someone close to him traumatically. even if he shouldn't have trusted this person, and taking an even more aggressively protective stance towards this guy who regularly used ian's protective instincts to manipulate him
putting someone in prison doesn't stop them from hurting others it just means you can't see it
nor does imprisoning someone help their victims cope emotionally with the repercussions
and, if you're with it enough to understand that people who do horrible things still have basic human rights it's worth noting
people convicted of sex crimes especially against minors are frequently subjected to punitive rape by any fellow inmate who learns what they've done
prison is by its definition a system of abuse.
traumatizing someone doesn't make them stop being dangerous. probably makes them worse.
police brutality doesn't stop being a bad thing just because you dislike the victim
like holy fuck lol
also as a side note as much as kash's kids shouldn't be used as an excuse for why you cant do anything to stop them i feel like it's just healthier for them to not grow up knowing that their dad is a pedophile.
