6. Hello! I have a read fics where the characters cultivate to immortality and the story picks up with their lives in modern era. I like the combo of traditional clothes, cultures, and canon personalities in the modern setting. Are there more fics like this? (I cannot remember the names of the two I have read in the past. In one I think WWX loses his memory and regains it upon backpacking to modern Cloud Recesses? In the other WWX time travels to modern and meets LWJ who has lived all those years.)
ridiculous future bullshit by sami (M, 61k, wangxian, WQ/JC/LXC, LSZ & WWX, LSZ/Other(s), LSZ & his family, JYL/OMC, Future Fic, movies, the rewriting of history if the past was different the future is different, But still ridiculous, Humor, the evolution of fashion, immortals through history, LWJ visits other cultures and judges them, Modern, best boy LSZ, Pride Parades, Cats, the legend of WQ, Academia, Border Crossings, biosecurity, oz quarantine is SERIOUS BUSINESS, Kinda cultivated to immortality, Paperwork, Family, Parents and Children, Uncles and nephews, the mortifying ordeal of your family seeing how you really live, Social Media, Chaos Gremlin WWX, Slight Hostage Situations, University, outsider pov, WWX vs Local Culture, actions have consequences, Pets, Movie Stars, Fluff) though it’s a sequel to And Time Is But A Paper Moon so some people are immortal in RFB who died in canon.
Thanks for giving me an excuse to dig up one of my favorite tropes from my bookmarks!! The Future is Ours to Keep series by makebelieveanything & nerdzeword (T, 25k, wangxian, JC & WWX, JC & YZY, JYL/LQY/WQ, post-canon, modern, immortality, reincarnation, healthy family relationships, epistolary, groupchats, fluff) Some beloved cast is immortal in modern times, some reincarnated
Ever Thine, Ever Mine, Ever Ours. by JaenysBloodcourt (T, 3k, WangXian, Immortal LWJ and WWX, Fluff and Angst, Happy Ending, Well it could be a Bittersweet Ending, Love Confessions) Wangxian are immortal, but have pined for a thousand years, and (spoiler!!!) they do get together but mind the bittersweet ending!!!!!!
dark and glimmering by Sanguis (T, 5k, wangxian, post-canon, modern, technology malfunction, established relationship, married couple, immortality) Beautiful and wangxian-centric, not so much about the modern world. But the world is around
Wandering Souls, Wild Ghosts by belleweather (E, 49k, wangxian, post-canon, victorian au, case fic, rentboys, smut, married wangxian, immortality, canon-typical violence, period-typical sexism & racism & homophobia, voyeurism, families of choice) Victorian England with immortal!wangxian’s adventures!
Traditions Series by Witch_Nova221 (G, 7k, WangXian, Family Feels, Family Fluff, Christmas Fluff, Christmas Tree, Christmas Presents, Modern with Magic, modern day cultivators, Cloud Recesses, Established Relationship, Married Couple, Married Life, family traditions, wangxian family feels, Romance, Valentine's Day, Valentine's Day Fluff, immortal cultivators)
A Tale of Two Immortals by esk95 (M, 31k, WIP, WangXian, XiCheng, XuanLi, Post-Canon, Like waaaaay Post-Canon Modern AU, but cultivation still exists, Immortality, Reincarnation, Pretty much everyone is a reincarnation except Wangxian, Secret Identities, Modern with Magic, Immortal!Wangxian) A beloved wip: Immortal wangxian try to solve a mystery, poor Sizhui just wants to be a cultivator and have support of his parents who don’t know anything about cultivation (lol), a lot of reincarnated folk around
MDZS: The Golden Engine by iffervescent (E, 82k, WangXian, XiCheng, Explicit Sexual Content, Immortals) The summary says it all: “In the modern era, immortals Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian return to Gusu. New evil and old friends + new friends and old evils.”
All Old Things are New Again Series by The Feels Whale (miscellea) (M, 59k, WIP, WangXian, XuanLi, ChengQing, Reincarnation, Modern AU, canon still happened, extreme post canon, Sugar Daddy, Kink Negotiation, gentle dom!LWJ, canonical levels of consent play, Modern Cultivators, Epilogues, yunmeng bros reconciliation, rabbit acquisition) has some immortal lwj and lxc with reincarnation wwx,and it's amazing.
~*~
7. ITMF fics which have wwx's ghosts. Remember ghost brides? And that ghoul child? They don't have to have a major part or something, just the fuc having wwx talking and being friends with ghosts.
It can also have the ghosts taking care of wwx. Loving him and all uk
when the sun goes out by travelingneuritis (E, 176k, WangXian, Modern Cultivation, tech cultivation, Necromancy, Angst with a Happy Ending, insecurity around adoption, Dad!WWX, dad!lwj, Grief/Mourning, Mistaken Identity, Mood Whiplash, Body Swap, sex tears!, Falling In Love, Consensual Somnophilia, apocalypse (localized), Smut, unrealistic sexual stamina, Flashbacks, Time Skips, Illustrations) if you're okay with OC ghosts I highly recommend When the Sun Goes Out by travelingneuritis, it's one of my favorite fics and wwx's relationship with his ghost army (Kaichuang in particular) is one of the reasons why
Ad Oblivione by Baph, HikariNoHimeWriter (M, 70k, WangXian, Time Travel Fix-It, Temporary Character Death, Canon-Typical Violence, POV Multiple, Hurt/Comfort, Grief/Mourning, Identity Reveal, Golden Core Reveal, Cultivation World Critical, Not JC Friendly, Abusive YZY, Angst with a Happy Ending) WWX has a ghost companion who helps him & acts as a mother figure towards him
let the sun go down on your anger; let it burn you to sleep by enbysaurus_rex (Not rated, 86k, wangxian, WQ & WWX, graphic depictions of violence, chronic illness, narcolepsy, chronic pain, YLLZ WWX, oblivious WWX, sleeping beauty elements, body horror, WIP) has pretty much every one of Wei Wuxian's ghosts playing a part and teaming up with his family to help take care of him in their own way
~*~
8. hii, for the itmf

9. Any fics where yu ziyuan treats wwx like a son or nephew??
And Time Is But a Paper Moon by sami (M, 139k, WangXian, XiChengQing, Time Travel, Fix-It, Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies, Healing, Mental Health Issues, PTSD, Hurt/Comfort, Depression, BAMF WWX, BAMF JC, BAMF LWJ, BAMF JYL, Getting Together)
Sail Away Sweet Sister by sami (M, 73k, WangXian, YZY/CSSR/MDM Lan, MingLi, Time Travel, EXTREME Canon Divergence, Wide Focus Narrative, Some People Live/Not Everyone Dies, Most Named/Canon Characters Live, Childhood Friends to Lovers, Families of Choice, Parenthood, this work contains a major tonal shift, Fluff, Angst, Underage Sex, not particularly explicit, but not at all ambiguous, PTSD, Only a tiny bit, Unforeseeable consequences, The butterfly effect, Slightly Dark JYL, Asexual Characters, but that’s not really the focus, Canon-Typical Violence) Also most of sami's time travel fics. this one for sure, probably a few others in the Same Moon series
Across the street to another life by danegen (M, 99k, WangXian, Modern AU, unleashed au, Family Fluff, Set in America, Hurt/Comfort, Past Child Abuse, Addiction, Crime, Amnesia, Ableist Language, another fridged mother, POV Alternating, past wwx/ofc, past wwx/omc, Medium parent YZY, A-Yuan is wwx’s biological son, Musicians, Happy Ending) it's mostly late in the fic but "across the street to another life" REALLY earns that "medium parent yu ziyuan" tag. Far from perfect but really steps up when it matters.
Hope series by RoseThorne (T, 57k, wangxian, WWX & YZY, WWX & JFM, WWX & JYL, YZY/JFM, JC & WWX, LQR & WWX, LXC & JYL, Madam Jin & YZY, LQR & JFM, LXC & LWJ, Transmigration, Time Travel Fix-It, Illnesses, Family, Scars, Memory Loss, Angst, Crying, Music, Nosebleed, Fear, Recovery, Nightmares, Sharing a Bed, Flirting, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Good Parent YZY, Referenced Sexual Slavery, Blood and Gore, Monsters, Sexual Tension, betrothal, Arranged Marriage, Grief, Adoption, POV Third Person, POV Alternating, Implied/Referenced Abuse, Implied/Referenced Child Abuse, Good Parent LQR, Clairvoyance, Butterfly Effect, Kid Fic, Epistolary, Food, Secrets, Resentful Energy, Cultivation Sect Politics, Character Death)

11. Itmf pregnant wwx doesn’t realize he is pregnant at first. Broody, hormonal, instinctive, etc., can be foxxian but doesn’t have to be. Bonus points if LWJ has it figured out. Any era is fine.
I didn't know I was pregnant! by Haunted_Cheese (G, 1k, WangXian, A/B/O Dynamics, Modern AU, Mpreg, Unplanned Pregnancy, Childbirth, Omega WWX, Alpha LWJ, Pregnant WWX)
🔒Little fall of rain by luckymoonly (M, 10k, WangXian, Canon Divergence, Fix-It, WWX didn't know he was pregnant, Mpreg, Mention of Birth, Family Feels, Nielan himbo rights, soft LQR, Misunderstandings, jealous lwj, Fluff and Angst, Happy Ending, Smut, Breastfeeding, Thirsty Granny Wen, JGS being his usual self)
🔒Surprise Baby! by trulywicked (M, 10k, WangXian, Modern with Magic, Modern Cultivation, Mpreg, Unplanned Pregnancy, Accidental Baby Acquisition, Didn't know he was pregnant, birthing scene, Little bit of blood, A/B/O Dynamics, Inspired by Twitter, Established Relationship, Fluff)
Blood, Google, and Love by Prairie_Grass (E, 4k, WangXian, Modern with Magic, they were roommates, A/B/O Dynamics, Getting Together, Mpreg, semi graphic giving birth, Alpha LWJ, Omega wwx, Intersex Omegas, (or you could head-canon WWX as trans if you wanted), Fluff and Angst, the run-on sentences are on-purpose because WWX and LWJ are both:, neurodiverse characters, slightly traumatic birth)
Impermanence, Transience, Permanence by Best Bepsy (BepsyGray) (E, 39k, wangxian, canon divergence, unplanned pregnancy, mpreg, gore, sunshot campaign, assumed miscarriage, medical procedures, childbirth, golden core reveal) And the case of 'didn't know I was STILL pregnant'
Does Wei Ying have Covid? by Webawee (G, 2k, WangXian, Modern AU, A/B/O Dynamics, Mpreg, Alpha LWJ, Omega WWX, Established Relationship, Pregnancy, Morning Sickness) there's a hillarious fic called does wei ying have covid? its exactly as it sounds our oblivious baby wwx thinks he has covid when lwj thinks wwx is scared to be pregnant/ anxious and wq is wq its great
~*~
12. (Previous part added to FF)
if you could also recommend fics where lwj rejects wwx at first then feels so guilty about it after seeing/hearing about wwx suffering due to his rejection (just any au with this trope)?? i am a sucker for angst with a happy ending.
we are blessed in this community for all the work that you do, thank you so much! 🙇🏻♀️ @emkaii
When the Words Stop Coming by mrcformoso (T, 7k, WangXian, Canon Compliant, POV WWX, POV LWJ, Cloud Recesses Study Arc, Pre-Sunshot Campaign, Burial Mounds Settlement Days, Canonical Character Death, Love Confessions, Rejection, LWJ is a Panicked Gay, Temporarily Unrequited Love, Trauma, WangXian Get a Happy Ending, Angst with a Happy Ending, Sad with a Happy Ending) Basically where WWX confesses, lwj keeps rejecting him, and canon still happens.

15. Hello! I wonder if there are works, where Wei Ying died from strangulation in the field by the hands of Jiang Cheng? Thank you!
Lay my body down by tawaen (M, 48k, WWX & WQ, WWX & WN, wangxian, WWX & JYL, canon divergence, time travel, rogue cultivator WWX, no golden core transfer, not cultivation world friendly, not JC friendly, OCs) Might not be what the requester wants? WWX dies in the siege of the Burial Mounds & part of his spirit gets flung through time & latches onto the moment where he is strangled & his heart stopped & goes 'it's free real estate', resulting in a time travel AU where WWX choses to nope the fuck out of the cultivation world. He does die in that moment, but if the requester wants an angsty MCD fic, this ain't it / has Wei Ying die of strangulation but a fragment of his soul returns to that moment and he lives again.
False Catharsis by mondengel (Not Rated, 792, Horror, Angst) WWX dies. It's only 700 words but it hits hard.
~*~
16. Hello~! ITMF hanahaki disease fics, preferably canon setting? In hanahaki trope someone who has unrequited love will grow flowers in their chest until the roots and branches kill them. Basically a curse to wither away in sadness and die unless your love is requited.
Regret Blossoms by piecrust (G, 7k, wangxian, Hanahaki Disease)
This Lantern Shines For You by apollonie (M, 10k, wangxian, Hanahaki Disease, Angst with a Happy Ending, Post-Canon, Pining WWX, WWX Needs a Hug, LWJ is a Disaster Gay)

Batman Outsider POV Fic Recs
This list will include all ratings and tags, so read at your own discretion! :)
Wait... you're backup? by Ceciliedr - Rated T
When her team is captured by Lex Luther, Traci can do little more than cross her fingers for a rescue. When someone does crash the party, it isn't anyone she knows. Traci sincerely hopes the guy in the red helmet is on their side.
library card by mikkal - Rated T
Jason Todd, Red Hood, and the Park Row Public Library (and her librarians).
Finding a New Perspective by njw - Rated T
“I got this, Hood.” Red Robin sounds annoyed as he arcs and twists through the air, kicking one henchman into another and wrenching the gun away from a third while simultaneously retracting his grappling line and then launching it to catch another unwary henchman. Just, how?
“I can see you do,” Red Hood says, and wait. Was his voice always that deep? Is he… Maya squints. Is he staring at Red Robin’s ass?
She blinks, then studies the line of sight more closely. Maybe he’s just checking out Red Robin’s kneecaps, in preparation for shooting at them? That seems more his style. Sexual attraction is kind of confusing and she still doesn’t totally believe Tosh that it’s actually as big a thing as people make it out to be—seriously, do other people really spend that much time thinking about it? Sounds fake but okay.
But no, Red Hood’s helmet is totally pointed at Red Robin’s ass. Huh. That’s new.
Captain Marvel's Adopted? by Len_suilon_mellon - Rated T
When Captain Marvel sends out a distress call, the only League member available is Batman. Bruce comes to his aid, but he finds out that Billy is a 10-year-old homeless orphan with black hair and blue eyes. Obviously, he makes the only logical decision and adopts Billy. Because it's Bruce—who's allergic to revealing life-changing information—the League is left in the dark. This story is written as 5+1 story from the Justice League's POV as they attempt to define the weird relationship between Batman and Captain Marvel. 5 times they didn't realize Batman had adopted Captain Marvel, and the 1 time they did.
The Startling Secret Identity of The Batman by Nokomis - Rated T
Good evening, super-sleuths! Boy, do we have a treat for you today. We’re delving into one of the biggest unsolved mysteries of the modern era. The million-dollar question. The billion-dollar question, if one of these theories holds water. That’s right. We’re gonna risk life, limb and sanity by asking the question… who is The Batman? [In-universe Buzzfeed Unsolved accidentally stumbles on Batman’s secret identity. The Batfam reacts.]
playacting by nex_et_nox - Rated G
“So,” Jim said, “are you one of Wayne’s new kids?” Because only siblings acted that way toward each other, and it seemed like every time Gotham turned around, Bruce Wayne was adopting more kids. It was a reasonable question. “What?” Jay asked. “No, I’m—” He paused. Very slowly, his head tilted as he looked over Jim’s shoulder in the most obvious way he possibly could. Jim Gordon accidentally meets the "newest" member of the Wayne family.
5 times the Justice League catch Bruce acting domestically by TimesBeingWhatTheyAre - Rated G
...and the one time he lets them see it aka 5 times the kids torment Bruce, and the time that he actually arranges a meet-up and minds are blown
the politics of dancing by TheResurrectionist - Not Rated
After months of silence following his mysterious resurrection from the dead, the prodigal Wayne heir shows up at an unlikely meeting. “Where is Mr. Wayne?” Jason crossed his legs, cracking his neck. “He’s not coming.” “I was assured Mr. Wayne would be here.” “Tough. Looks like you’ll have to settle for me, huh?”
I Love My Gay Son(s) by reeby10 - Rated G
But the part that had everyone’s attention was the shirt, a plain white t-shirt with “I LOVE MY GAY SON” emblazoned across the chest in bold, rainbow letters.
Bat Out Of Hell by arguablysomaya - Rated G
Five times the Bats are weird, and one time that weirdness saves the world Or, the Bats are weird, everyone that’s even remotely aware of the superhero game knows this. But, odd as they are, they’re still humans. Which is why it should probably be impossible that they’re such forces of chaos. And when they’re all together? Well, most people are just glad they’re on the good side. And they are. Mostly.
The five times Flash came to Gotham for help and the one time he didn't need to (5+1) by Silver_Athena - Not Rated
Barry needs help solving a murder, he goes to Gotham for help. Though he's looking for Batman he seems to constantly run into new heroes. Why do they all seem connected to Batman? --- “You know where he lives?” “I practically live there myself, why is this so surprising to you? You’ve worked with him for- Oh… oh my God, you guys don’t know!"
A Break in Tradition by incogneat_oh - Not Rated
Gordon had seen something when he caught the canary yellow cape out the corner of his eye– something in the way the kid had moved. So he figures he should ask, “You doing okay up there, son?” AKA: The one where Jim Gordon minds a tiny vigilante until his bigger, scarier partner can collect him.
gotham aviary by pepperfield - Rated G
“I see you have a new addition to the family,” Bella says, smiling at the group pushing their father along toward the plaza stairs. “Yeah, we stole him from his backyard,” Jason tells her brightly.
“average billionaire adopts 1000 children a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average billionaire adopts 0 children per year. Orphans Bruc, who lives in cave & adopts over 1 child each month, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
what goes around by Goldmonger - Rated G
A civilian accidentally kills the Joker. It’s a confusing time for everybody.
artemis crock coming to the wrong conclusions by impravidus - Rated G
Nightwing has his hands outstretched, his palms opening and closing exaggeratedly. Red Hood shakes his head. “I am not gonna—” “Just one?” Nightwing interjects sweetly. “Please please please?” “You are such an idiot—” “Just ooone. C’mon, Hood. Don’t these arms look so warm and inviting?” “Inviting for a stab, yeah.” Artemis sees Nightwing being his affectionate (or as Red Hood would put it, extremely annoying) self and comes to the wrong conclusions.

RACE AND ALBERT'S MURDER PODCAST! (Or How Two Random and Unqualified Teenagers Solved a Homicide.)
by, orangesand_lemons by orangesand_lemons Tyler James Higgins (Better known as Racetrack) and Albert DaSilva are famously known to their listeners as the two boys who run the not-so-originally named "RACE AND ALBERT'S MURDER PODCAST!", a true crime podcast which specialises in unsolved murder cases. After being invited to speak with famous murder mystery author Katherine Plumber at Murder Con '24 at a true crime panel, their lives are flipped upside down when before the talk, Miss Plumber is found brutally murdered backstage. When they see how the police aren't taking this seriously, Race and Albert take matters into their own hands, attempting to solve a murder despite being most definitely not qualified for the job. You know, I just saw a post supporting the writer's strike and saying there are plenty of old shows to watch... and it occurred to me that it might be good to share some shows we love just in case people haven't seen them yet.
Places that make it easy to find where to watch things: Reelgood and JustWatch. Check both, they sometimes conflict, get it wrong, etc.
My Recs (in hopes others will add) (admittedly the low hanging fruit):
The X-Files, 1993, 11 Seasons, free on freevee, available on Hulu, can rent or buy other places. If you haven't seen X-Files, you're missing out. It was a smash hit in the 90's for a good reason. Two detectives, a believer and a skeptic, try to solve unsolvable mysteries in the midst of grand conspiracy. And find, somehow, that as much as they annoy each other, they need each other.
Babylon 5, 1993 / 1994, 5 Seasons, free on Roku and Tubi. An Epic Space Opera that never quite got the success it deserved. It is one of those things whose influence is written all over modern sci-fi and fantasy without much acknowledgement. This is the interplay of empires and mythology, double dealing and political cruelty.
SPACE: 1999, 1975, 2 seasons, free on Crackle, Peacock, Fubo, Pluto, Freevee, Plex, Shout, and Roku. I dare you to listen to the theme song and not feel the groove of this classic campy space opera. When Earth's moon is ejected from orbit to hurtle through the galaxy, the people of Moonbase Alpha have to confront new alien weirdness every week. Part of what makes it so good is that the show takes itself completely seriously, there's no wink and nod in here.
Kindred: The Embraced, 1996, 1 Season, available as a slime tutorial. It's Vampire: The Masquerade as a cheesy soap opera. There are constant reminders of what the clans are like in the most pointed, ridiculous dialogue you can imagine. Had the lead actor not died, this show might have found its place in a couple of more seasons, as it is, it is deliciously campy and dumb. Days of our LARP.
Profit, 1996, 1 Season, available as a slime tutorial. What if the Antagonist was the Main Character. Profit was ahead of its time. It would be right at home in the modern streaming era but it absolutely didn't fit in its own day and age. Profit is dark and twisted (For people who follow me, see if you can find an early inspirations for JJ) with mature and uncomfortable themes. One of its benefits is that it was network televison, so it couldn't show all the gratuitous violence and sex that it would be given if it was made today. It's psychological violence and murder off screen, which, if you let yourself get into it, can grow into worse things than can be shown. Profit is about power, greed, and ruthlessness and what happens when someone even more ruthless and immoral than you shows up.
Farscape, 1999, 4 seasons and a TV movie, available for free on crackle, peacock, popcornflix, shout, freevee, pluto, roku, and tubi. In spite of my picture, this is live action space opera, but it is looney tunes, literally in one episode. This is what happens when the Jim Henson company decides to make a space opera as far away from Star Trek as possible. It's zany, over the top, sometimes hilarious, often creepy, and there's only one human who is far out of his depth.
Blake's 7, 1978, 4 seasons, available on BritBox, and you should be able to find all of it with a little searching on youtube. Like Farscape, this show focuses on escaped prisoners but when they find an advanced spacecraft, they decide to become freedom fighters against their fascist regime instead of just trying to escape. Darker than most of what you could find on US tv until fairly recently. These are wounded people in hostile space.
The Outer Limits, 1995, 7 seasons. Free on Roku. This is a sci-fi anthology series. Some episodes are more interesting and thought provoking than others but overall a lot of good stories.
There are now 12 series with 44 seasons between them totaling up to 880 episodes of Star Trek. That's about 3 months straight of 24 hour programming if you ran it back to back with no pauses at all. That's a lot of show. Mostly on Paramount+ but it's probably not terribly difficult to find the material less officially. It may not all be your cup of earl grey but there's a lot to try out to see if you like it.
1899, 2022, 1 season (cancelled), available on Netflix or wherever else one finds shows. This is my only modern show because I know it didn't get a lot of viewership in spite of being brilliantly twisty. 1899 is one of those shows that it is very hard to talk about without spoilers. I think it is however immediately obvious that the cruise ship Kerebos, en route to New York, is not at all in the situation it appears to be in. It is magnificently multilingual with the ability to communicate when you can't speak each other's language front and center in the narrative. It's sadly cancelled and the creators are on record that they don't want to finish it in another medium so we'll never know exactly what happened but there is wonder to be had from this first season.
Magnum P.I., 1980, 8 seasons. Free on freevee and Roku. 1 season available with Amazon Prime, rest for rent or purchase. Mix a lovable goofball naval vet with PTSD and a very stiff necked British curmudgeon vet with PTSD and you get a fun mystery every week in paradise. Magnum shrugs off most of his work and pawns it on to his friends getting by on charm and some wit.
Murder, She Wrote, 1984, 12 seasons. All available for free on Roku. 6 seasons available for free on freevee. Note that one of the primary writers for Murder, She Wrote was J. Michael Straczynski, this is the job that got him the ability to make Babylon 5. Jessica Fletcher is a charming and clever lady who has retired to the placid sea side village of Cabot Cove to write mystery novels but somehow always ends up at murder scenes. It has been estimated that if Cabot Cove was real, it would be the murder capital of the US.
Tales from the Crypt, 1989, 7 seasons, available as a slime tutorial. To get it to lucky number 13, I present another great anthology show. Every episode a different tale of the macabre or horrific. The crypt keeper is a charmingly gruesome host and there are a few episodes that have stuck with me since I first saw them in the 90's.
Hopefully one among these number can fulfill your needs and if not, hopefully someone else will tack on a few more. I know I left out plenty of my own favorites. There's lots to see while your current faves are on hiatus. There might be a brand new fandom waiting for you.

i don’t know a lot about dr who but your ideas for a mmu/who crossover sound fascinating!! please feel free to ramble more about your ideas im so curious…
Hello! It's really nice that someone is interested (also more doctor who and mmu fans, yay!). I've only watched up to Series 10, so all the crossover/ headcanons (idk what you would call it) will be from those episodes (none after series 9).
I love the idea of Alexander being Rose in Dalek in Series 1 because of how much empathy he has and I headcanon him to have hyperempathy (he would've hugged that dalek without a second thought) and I can imagine in New World (series 2) George being absolutely FURIOUS when Lady Cassandra takes Alexander's body and going super protective like 'I'm getting Alex back in one piece, thank you very much! Not so much as a cold!' Also, I headcanon Alexander to be scared of cats, so he would not get on well with the cat nuns.
Also, in The Empty Child( series 1) I think it would be really funny if it was George who was rescued by Jack Harkness because I think he would absolutely DIE (the rest of the episode would just be Daisy teasing him, Hazel like 'aw that's cute' and Alexander trying to get them together while George is mortified).
I also like to imagine maybe Zosia and Anna can communicate with the TARDIS in case of emergencies or possibly working for UNIT (maybe Bertie and Harold too. I can imagine Bertie and Harold working with them). Uncle Felix would be head of UNIT ofc, with Aunt Lucy unofficially in charge.
Also, I think that Daleks in Manhattan would've been greatly improved if a tiny Alexander had just appeared and Daisy had been like 'The daleks I can cope with- THAT however...' I think that Hazel and Beanie would've just melted at a baby Alex (well for the time in Daleks in Manhattan he would've been 9 or 10 I think but a 6 year old Alex defeating daleks would be so cute! Or George as Amy in The Eleventh Hour would be really funny because he would possibly be more furious than her when Daisy/ Alexander/Hazel /Lavinia turns up like 10 years later. The possibility of a baby Junior Pinkertons in one episode would be so cute! (And Daisy's reaction would be very funny).
I think that the thought of George being River Song would be interesting too (out of all the MMU characters he seems like the most likely to write on the most ancient cliffs in the universe because someone wasn't answering their phone). Or George or Daisy as missy/ master with Alexander or Hazel as the doctor would be very funny.
I can really imagine George as Clara (like in Asylum of the Daleks:
Daisy: How dare they! I'm much cleverer than him, why don't they want my brain?
Hazel: Do you want to be converted into a dalek?!
Daisy: that's not the point)
Also I can imagine Alexander trying to keep some random little alien creature they found on a planet as a pet and then it gets very big and possibly blood thirsty which becomes a whole other episode (think the red dwarf episode when it transpires that the evil, giant squid in the water tank was there because Cat brought it on board when it was a baby).
(Alexander: but it was so cute!
George looking at the engine which has a big bite out of it and just general carnage in the console room: For fucks sake Alex!)
George would be over the moon at a TARDIS wardrobe with all the different clothes from all the different times in it. Also, George would want to go back in time to try and solve unsolved mysteries (Hazel would not be that keen after a near escape from Jack the Ripper).
I also love the idea of the TARDIS just knowing that they are neurodivergent and putting weighted blankets and fidget toys where they'll find them (it would be interesting if some of them were from the 1930s and only found out that they were in a modern era).
I would also imagine that if they came across an alternative universe where there were different versions of themselves that would be funny (imagine 2 Alexanders and 2 Hazels desperately trying to keep 2 Georges and 2 Daisys in check).
Thanks for the ask :)

BORN INTO TRAGEDY
On January 19, 1809, Edgar Allan Poe was born in a hotel where his actor parents were staying between shows. Within a few years, his father abandoned the family and passed away and Poe's mother succumbed to tuberculosis -- the same disease that would later kill his wife, Virginia. Poe achieved greatness as a poet and writer but his literary fame would not come until years after his mysterious death.
But Poe wasn’t simply a melancholy author who wrote about premature burials, sinister black cats, and talking ravens; he was much more. If you’ve ever read a modern mystery or horror novel, you can thank Poe. He invented the modern mystery story, mostly invented science fiction, and was the first writer to take the horror stories of the Gothic era and set them in modern times, starting a trend that continues today.
My own fascination with Poe led me to writer a book called NEVERMORE, a look at the mysterious and macabre writer, his tragic life, unexplained death, and lingering hauntings. In it, I delve into the strange and bizarre world of Edgar Allan Poe, from his early life to his tragic marriage, his insane grief, his dramatically failed career, his links to an unsolved murder, and the mystery of what happened to the writer during five days before his unexplained death.
Even more than a century and a half later, no one knows what happened to Poe before he was found delirious on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland – or what killed him. Why did he disappear and then show up in an incoherent state, wearing another man’s clothes? Where did he go when he vanished and who was the mysterious “Reynolds” that Poe whispered about in his dying breath? And, perhaps strangest of all, does he haunt the mysterious graveyard where his body is buried? And who is the stranger who appears at Poe’s grave each year on the anniversary of his birth, leaving roses and cryptic messages behind?

⛓
⛓: A plot bunny you just can’t let go of, even if you don’t plan on writing it.
strangely enough, the idea of a ghost hunting fic! headcanons under the cut;
modern era blink is really into horror & paranormal activity, which on a half-joking suggestion from jack leads him to creating a youtube channel surrounding unsolved mysteries
initially it's more of a way to pass the time than anything in between shifts at the local history museum and fossil site, but his content begins to gain traction after being mentioned by a more famous creator
needing to keep up with the demand, blink's friend avery starts helping out with his channel-- he's a film studies major at their college and has higher quality equipment than what blink was previously using
avery, whom blink affectionately nicknamed sniper, suggested blink take the opportunity to expand his content and try a video at a different angle
they landed on the classic "exploring an abandoned asylum", recruiting a handful of others who had appeared in blink's videos once or twice
a couple weeks of planning later sees blink, sniper, smalls, mush, hildy and jojo flying cross-country to new york (jack had been invited to come, but refused on the basis of "not wanting to die yet") the city had plenty of history, enough content to make the expense worth it
the first property they'd selected was owned by a well-known news journalist Bryan Denton (who bought the site after previous break-ins had led to the police discovering a wealth of historical artifacts). hildy spoke to the man over the phone and somehow convinced him to allow them access, claiming the potential research the students could do on-site
sniper and hildy, as the party's film students, are on videography duty, mush assigns himself to flashlight duty ("somebody should be in charge, it's not because i'm scared, blink,") and blink, smalls, and jojo are all in front of the cameras running the show
half the crew leans towards skepticism, while the others are bordering on curiosity and anxiety, but within an hour of being in the asylum, "incidents" start occurring
voices seeming to come from nowhere, doors opening and closing on their own, jojo being pushed down a flight of stairs when nobody had been standing near him (he twisted his ankle, smalls thought, but he would be okay)
mush was convinced someone was pranking them, or blink had set it up for the sake of the cameras, but reality settles in whenever they're faced with the faintest glimpse of a person, a boy with blonde curls and a cigarette tucked into the corner of his mouth
the ghost doesn't seem angry with them, merely confused, as if he was lost. his name is race, he says, and he died there, and wanted to know if they were dead too
enter discovering that the asylum was initially known as the refuge some two hundred years before, housing homeless kids unfortunate enough to land themselves in trouble
and basically the rest would be them uncovering more secrets of the city, befriending ghosts and ultimately getting trapped in a massive historical cover up headed by one of the biggest journalism companies in america, targets on their backs thanks to the world's owner, joseph pulitzer
i also have thoughts about their dynamics and majors and other random details;
blink- geosciences + minor in anthropology
sniper- film studies + english double major
smalls- history, ancient civilizations concentration
mush- theatre + business double major
hildy- film studies + minor in a/v communications
jojo- legal studies, criminal law concentration
blink and mush have been together since high school
blink and jack are roommates, they live across the hall from jojo and sniper in one of the dorms
mush technically shares an apartment with his sister, but he spends most of his time at blink's
hildy and smalls are roommates in an apartment, they met at a bookstore hildy was working at (& both work there now)
sniper and smalls are head-over-heels for one another, but still deeply in denial of the fact
their group gets the nickname "newsies" from blink's fans after a clip of smalls infodumping about the strike makes it into the video
send me a plot bunny ask!
#anon u are the light of my life#thanks for letting me infodump fr#now that i have this actually written down ..... might make this into a fic#tbh it was just a vague idea until i started making the hcs HAHAHAH#but now i an actually Thinking about it#askbox#shut up finch

In 1340, a mysterious phenomenon known as a "nebulous warg" occurred in the region of Russia known as the Vyatka Valley, and it had a significant impact on the life of the local population. The term "nebulous warg" referred to the strange occurrence of a band of wargs, which is a kind of wild canine, appearing out of the mist and fog and prowling through the area. The village people of the Vyatka Valley were so terrified of this spectacle that they fled in the middle of the night, abandoning their homes and leaving behind all their possessions.
The mysterious incident sparked numerous debates among historians who sought to uncover its true significance. Some theorized that the nebulous warg was superstitious in nature, representing the fear of ancient spirits and gods. Others believed it to be a form of military response against a foreign army or rival group.
Regardless of what the nebulous warg was intended to signify, one thing is clear: the incident had a profound impact on the lives of the villagers of the Vyatka Valley. The fear of the unknown caused them to flee from their homes in search of safety, disrupting their lives and leaving them vulnerable.
For years, the mystery of the nebulous warg remained unsolved. But in recent years, evidence has emerged that indicates the incident was likely connected to the Battle of Klyazma, which occurred in the same year in nearby Kostroma. This suggests that the nebulous warg may have been a foreboding sign of the oncoming conflict, warning the locals of the impending danger and inspiring them to flee.
The nebulous warg of 1340 serves as an important reminder of the power of fear and superstition in a pre-modern era, and of the significance of military events in the history of Russia. The fear that it invoked among the villagers of the Vyatka Valley may have saved their lives, demonstrating how powerful a single, mysterious event could be in determining the course of one's fate.

John Mitchell- Vampire
Character
Name: John Mitchell Age: 189 years old (turned in 1834, during the Victorian era) Occupation: Nurse and amateur detective Appearance: John maintains a youthful appearance, with strikingly pale skin, dark hair, and piercing blue eyes that have seen centuries. He dresses smartly, favoring tailored suits that blend modernity with a hint of vintage flair.
Motivation and Goals
John desires to find purpose in an existence that straddles the line between life and death. While he revels in the knowledge and experiences gathered over nearly two centuries, his past as a vampire haunts him. He seeks redemption for the lives he took during his early years and strives to be a protector rather than a predator.
His primary goal is to solve mysteries—both personal and professional—while helping those in need through his work as a nurse. He aims to bridge the gap between the living and the supernatural, using his insights into both worlds to provide care and guidance to others.
Significant Events
Transformation and Awakening (1834): John was transformed into a vampire against his will, after being attacked by a rogue vampire while walking home from a midnight dance in Victorian London. Struggling with his new identity, he initially embraced the darkness, relishing the power that came with his immortality.
The Redemption Arc (1865): After centuries of indulgence in debauchery and violence, a chance encounter with a young girl suffering from an illness sparked a change within him. He used his vampiric abilities to save her, realizing he could use his powers to help rather than harm.
Integration into Modern Society (1960s): As society evolved, John remained an observer of human culture. His love for medicine drew him into nursing, allowing him to study human anatomy and psychology more closely, transforming him into a compassionate caregiver.
Solving the Gothic Murder (2020): A mysterious murder at a local hospital connects to remnants of his past, involving a bond created in the Victorian era. This case will force him to confront lingering shadows while utilizing his detective skills to untangle complex, supernatural threads entwined with human lives.
Relationships
Professor Elizabeth Harris: An accomplished criminologist who is fascinated by unsolved mysteries. She becomes John’s confidante and eventual partner in solving cases, creating a dynamic relationship filled with intellectual sparks and mutual respect. John’s immortality remains a secret, causing tension as he grapples with the idea of revealing his true nature.
Lucius Blackwood: A fellow vampire from John's early years, Lucius embodies the darker aspects of vampire life. He seeks to pull John back into a world of power and immortality, tempting him to revert to his predatory nature. Their conflict represents John’s internal struggle between his past and his quest for redemption.
Sarah Mitchell (Née Morgan): A distant descendent of a Victorian friend who perished due to John's actions during his dark period. This connection plunges John into guilt and responsibility, driving him to protect her as if she were family, even though she is unaware of their lineage.
Growth and Change
Through his journey, John evolves from a vampire indulging in base desires to a figure of compassion and intellect. His experiences as a nurse sharpen his empathy, allowing him to form meaningful connections with both clients and colleagues.
John learns to balance his duality, using his vampiric attributes—heightened senses, speed, and immortality—not for selfish gain but to serve those around him. The process of solving mysteries becomes an avenue for catharsis, allowing him to confront his past and strive for a better future.
Ultimately, John Mitchell embodies the complex nature of redemption, grappling with the weight of his actions while forging a path forward through mystery, care, and earnest connection in a world both familiar and foreign. Through each solved case and healed patient, he knits together the fragmented threads of his long life, finding peace in a life once dominated by darkness.

Solving the Unsolvable: A Day in the Life of a Private Detective
Private detectives, often portrayed as enigmatic figures in film noir, play a vital role in solving cases that fall outside the purview of law enforcement. A day in the life of a private detective is a dynamic journey through the intricacies of investigations, combining intuition, methodology, and a relentless pursuit of truth. Let's unravel the mysteries that shroud the profession and gain insight into the unique challenges faced by these modern-day sleuths.
Morning Briefing: Strategizing for the Day Ahead
The day for a private detective typically begins with a morning briefing. This is the time to review ongoing cases, prioritize tasks, and strategize for the day ahead. While some cases may involve surveillance to gather evidence of infidelity, others may require extensive background checks for corporate clients or locating missing persons.
Setting the tone for the day involves assessing the progress made on each case, identifying any new leads, and allocating resources accordingly. The ability to switch seamlessly between different types of investigations showcases the versatility that defines the private detective profession.
The Art of Surveillance: Blending into the Background
A significant portion of a private detective's day involves surveillance. Whether tailing a subject on foot or tracking them through city streets, surveillance requires a blend of patience, discretion, and the ability to blend into the background. Skilled private detectives can observe their subjects without arousing suspicion, capturing crucial moments that may serve as evidence in a case.
In the age of technology, surveillance has extended into the digital realm. Private detectives leverage sophisticated tools to monitor online activities, track digital footprints, and unravel the complexities of cyber investigations. This modern approach adds a layer of intricacy to the art of surveillance, requiring detectives to adapt to evolving technologies.
Interviews and Interrogations: Uncovering Hidden Truths
Conducting interviews and interrogations is another crucial aspect of a private detective's day. These interactions provide an opportunity to extract information, uncover hidden truths, and understand the motivations behind certain behaviors. Unlike law enforcement, private detectives often operate in a more informal setting, relying on their interpersonal skills to gain the trust of interviewees.
The ability to read body language, discern deception, and ask probing questions without overstepping ethical boundaries is an art mastered by seasoned private detectives. These skills are honed through experience and contribute significantly to the detective's effectiveness in solving cases.
Digital Forensics: Navigating the Virtual Landscape
The digital age has transformed the landscape of investigations, and private detectives are no strangers to the realm of digital forensics. A portion of their day is dedicated to navigating the virtual world, examining electronic devices, analyzing data trails, and uncovering hidden information.
From tracing the digital footprints of individuals to investigating online threats and cybercrimes, private detectives leverage their technological expertise to solve cases that would have been unimaginable in the analog era. This intersection of traditional investigative methods with cutting-edge technology showcases the adaptability required in the modern private detective's toolkit.
Background Checks and Research: Digging Deeper
Private detectives spend a significant amount of time conducting thorough background checks and research. Whether it's for a corporate client vetting a potential employee or a client seeking information about a personal connection, this phase involves delving into public records, social media profiles, and any other available sources of information.
The meticulous nature of background checks requires attention to detail and the ability to connect seemingly unrelated dots. Private detectives become digital detectives, sifting through vast amounts of data to construct a comprehensive picture that may hold the key to solving a case.
Ethical Considerations: Balancing Truth and Privacy
In the course of their day, private detectives constantly navigate ethical considerations. The pursuit of truth must be balanced with a respect for the rights and privacy of individuals under investigation. The line between lawful inquiry and invasion of privacy is a tightrope walked with precision, requiring detectives to adhere to a strict code of ethics.
Transparent communication with clients about the legal and ethical boundaries of an investigation is paramount. Private detectives must ensure that their methods align with established standards and that the pursuit of truth does not compromise the rights of those involved.
Conclusion: Unveiling Truths in the Shadows
A day in the life of a private detective is a multifaceted journey through the intricacies of solving the unsolvable. From morning briefings to the art of surveillance, interviews, digital forensics, and background checks, every aspect of the day contributes to the detective's mission of unveiling truths hidden in the shadows.
The private detective profession requires a unique blend of skills – from keen observation and analytical thinking to technological expertise and ethical considerations. As these modern-day sleuths navigate the complexities of investigations, they play a crucial role in delivering justice, uncovering secrets, and providing closure to those in search of the truth.

Why is the Opium Bird Mystery Captivating Millions?
In the realm of unsolved mysteries and intriguing enigmas, the Opium Bird Mystery stands out as a captivating puzzle that continues to baffle and enthrall millions around the world. Originating from the depths of history, this mysterious tale has woven its way into the fabric of folklore, sparking the imagination and curiosity of enthusiasts and historians alike.
The Opium Bird Mystery revolves around a peculiar and elusive artifact—an ancient statuette depicting a bird, believed to be associated with the opium trade. The origins of this artifact remain shrouded in mystery, with no clear historical record or definitive explanation of its purpose.
One of the primary reasons behind the Opium Bird Mystery's enduring allure is its enigmatic connection to the opium trade, a historically significant and controversial industry. Opium has played a pivotal role in various cultures and societies throughout history, from ancient civilizations to the modern era. The mystery surrounding the bird statuette adds an intriguing layer to the already complex narrative of the opium trade.
The lack of concrete information or a universally accepted theory regarding the Opium Bird only deepens the intrigue. Various hypotheses have been proposed by scholars, archaeologists, and historians, but none have been able to provide a conclusive answer to the artifact's origin, purpose, or the cultural context in which it was used.
Furthermore, the Opium Bird Mystery has become a symbol of the broader challenges faced by historians and archaeologists in unraveling the mysteries of the past. It serves as a reminder that, despite advances in technology and research methodologies, there are still gaps in our understanding of certain historical artifacts and their significance.
The allure of the Opium Bird Mystery also lies in its ability to spark the imagination. The ambiguity surrounding the artifact allows for a wide range of interpretations and speculations. This open-ended nature has led to a proliferation of theories, each more fascinating than the last. Some suggest religious or spiritual significance, while others hint at clandestine rituals associated with the opium trade.
In the age of instant information, where answers are just a click away, the Opium Bird Mystery offers a refreshing departure. It stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of unresolved puzzles and the human fascination with the unknown. The mystery persists, inviting individuals from diverse backgrounds to join in the quest for understanding and enlightenment.
In conclusion, the Opium Bird Mystery captivates millions because of its enigmatic connection to a controversial historical context, its elusive origins, and the endless possibilities it presents for interpretation. As long as the mystery remains unsolved, the Opium Bird will continue to capture the imagination of those who seek to unravel the secrets of our collective past.

1. The Bermuda Triangle
The Bermuda Triangle, a loosely defined area in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, has garnered notoriety for the unexplained disappearances of ships, aircraft, and crews. While it's important to note that the Bermuda Triangle's reputation might be somewhat sensationalized, there are indeed instances of vessels and planes vanishing under mysterious circumstances within this region. These disappearances have given rise to a myriad of theories, including magnetic anomalies, underwater methane hydrate eruptions, and even extraterrestrial involvement.
One of the most famous cases is the disappearance of Flight 19 in 1945, where five U.S. Navy bombers vanished without a trace during a training exercise. The subsequent search and rescue mission, Flight 19's rescue plane, also disappeared. Despite extensive investigations by the military and scientific community, no definitive explanation has been established. Skeptics argue that many of these incidents can be attributed to human error, adverse weather conditions, and natural causes. Nonetheless, the Bermuda Triangle remains a captivating mystery.
2. The Pyramids of Egypt
The Great Pyramids of Egypt, located on the Giza Plateau, are among the most iconic and enigmatic structures in the world. These colossal monuments were constructed during the Old Kingdom period of Egypt's history, around 4,500 years ago. What astounds researchers is not just the size and precision of the pyramids but also the methods by which they were built.
Several theories attempt to explain the construction of the pyramids. The prevailing theory suggests that a massive workforce, likely composed of skilled laborers and slaves, quarried and transported the massive stone blocks using sleds, waterways, and possibly lubricants to reduce friction. However, questions remain about how these massive stones were precisely aligned and lifted to their towering heights.
Some alternative theories propose that ancient Egyptians possessed advanced knowledge or lost technologies that enabled them to achieve such remarkable feats with greater ease. Regardless of the theories, the Pyramids of Egypt continue to be a symbol of human ingenuity and a source of fascination.
3. Stonehenge
Stonehenge, located on the Salisbury Plain in England, is a prehistoric monument consisting of enormous standing stones arranged in a circular formation. The purpose of Stonehenge has been a subject of speculation for centuries. While it's widely believed to have served as an astronomical observatory or a religious site, the methods by which the massive stones were transported and erected remain puzzling.
These stones, some weighing up to 25 tons, were quarried from locations miles away and moved to the Stonehenge site. The prevailing theory suggests that a combination of sleds, rollers, and possibly waterways was used in their transportation. However, the exact techniques employed in lifting and positioning these stones with such precision continue to elude researchers.
Furthermore, Stonehenge's alignment with solar and lunar events adds complexity to the mystery. Some believe that it served as a celestial calendar or a place of spiritual significance. Regardless of its purpose, the ancient architects of Stonehenge left behind an enduring enigma.
4. The Voynich Manuscript
The Voynich Manuscript, named after the rare book dealer who acquired it in the early 20th century, is an ancient codex filled with intricate illustrations and a script that has confounded linguists and codebreakers for centuries. Carbon-dated to the 15th century, the manuscript's content remains unintelligible.
The script used in the Voynich Manuscript appears to be unique, with no known parallels in any known language. The drawings within the manuscript depict various plants, celestial bodies, and human-like figures engaged in mysterious activities. Numerous attempts have been made to decipher the script, but all have ended in failure.
The nature of the content—whether it's a scientific treatise, an herbal guide, or a medieval hoax—remains unknown. Despite advances in cryptography and linguistics, the Voynich Manuscript stands as one of history's most baffling linguistic and artistic puzzles.
5. The Lost City of Atlantis
The legend of Atlantis, first described by the ancient philosopher Plato in his dialogues "Timaeus" and "Critias," has captivated imaginations for over two millennia. According to Plato's accounts, Atlantis was a powerful and advanced civilization that mysteriously sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune."
Despite extensive efforts to locate Atlantis, no concrete evidence of its existence has been found. Some theories propose that Atlantis could have been based on a real civilization, while others argue that it's purely a philosophical allegory.
Numerous underwater expeditions have searched for the lost city, primarily in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. While some intriguing underwater structures have been discovered, none have definitively been linked to Atlantis. The legend endures as one of the most captivating mysteries of human history, representing the eternal allure of the unknown.
Conclusion: Embracing the Enigma
In the tapestry of human knowledge and exploration, the world's most unsolved mysteries stand as intricate threads of intrigue and wonder.
