I'm so sick of this fandom. Let people write whatever the fuck they want without throwing accusations. If you have a problem with it, go and write the fic you want. Contribute instead of complaining. We're not making any profit from fanfiction and it's not up to you to decide what I and other writers can and cannot write. If there's a lack of something, then try to resolve it by contributing instead of “forcing” other writers to do it for you. We're not machines. We're not here to create media for you to consume. It's not made for you but rather shared with you. Stop acting like you have a say in it. Don't start hating on fics if something happens and you don’t like it. It's not yours, it's ours. We're proud of it and that's all that matters. You don't have to read it— you're free to stop at any point. It's okay to not like something but it's not okay to hate on it just because it doesn't meet your expectations. It's free, stop complaining and find something else to read.

Also, stop dissecting and rating fics. It's not for you to pick apart and examine and it's so fucking disrespectful how it's become normal to share the fics you hate/dislike on social media. We are real people with real feelings. It doesn't matter that we shared it online— we do not have to accept it when people shit-talk our fics as if we won't see it because we do.

Oh, and while we're at it, learn how to use ao3. You can exclude ships and tags. It's not always that there are no fics— you just don't know how to use ao3 effectively.

LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK

hey kids who read fic, listen up

it’s annoying to me as a Fanfic Elder that y’all don’t understand how consent works in regards to reading fanfic

last night I saw a fic that had EIGHT of my favorite tags included and a great summary BUT it also contained a tag for a topic that bothers me. I weighed the pros/cons and decided NOT to read the fic because the ONE tag I disliked was something that could trigger a panic attack if the scene went into any sort of detail - it wasn’t worth risking the eight good tags.

from the first moment I noticed the fic to the moment I decided not to read it, the entire experience was MY RESPONSIBILITY. the author tagged the fic correctly, I knew what my limits were, and I respected them.

if you find a fic with tags you don’t like, JUST DON’T READ IT 

don’t harass the author, don’t post a big whiny rant about it on Tumblr, just keep scrolling

that is your job as a reader.

A gentle song played on the organ, loud enough to echo through the water-filled cave but soft enough to preserve the delicate nature of the song.

The cave was decorated with golden accents and hundreds of candles, tho only a select few candles were lit. Just enough to illuminate the shimmering lake below.

Y/n slept in a shell shaped bed with a bird at the foot of it. A black mesh curtain hung over her, obscuring ber view from what lay ahead.

Y/n's eyes opened slowly as her mind registered the events that transpired. After a second her body jolted upright and she's aware of her surroundings.

The organ still played slowly as her chest heaved rapidly. She's quick to jump out of the bed, keeping from making too much noise.

After untangling herself from the black curtain she looks around unsure of where she was.

To her side was a tall, golden, candle stand that came up to her shoulders. She blew out the candles on top and then took hold of the stand as if it were a baseball bat.

Not realizing its weight, she lifted it with too much ease. Wax from the still hot candles, splashed onto her bare shoulders and onto the costume she still wore after the Opera.

Her breathing hitched and she clenches her teeth, keeping a painful yelp from escaping.

After the wax droplets cooled on her skin, her thoughts returned to the problem at hand.

With delicate dancer's feet, she walks across the path towards the direction of the music.

Making her way up some stairs she peeked over to see the organ, more importantly the man playing it. His hair in perfect shape and the same clothing, without the cloak.

As she walked, she passed scattered fabrics and sewing equipment. Materials matching her costume. One red thread in particular, stood out, not matching the color of the material.

Y/n glances down at the seam of the costume going up her torso, to see a rushed seam, threaded into her dress with the same red thread.

"He tailored it to fit me..?" she whispers as her brain worked out what happened.

She continues towards the organ, only to see her target had vanished.

"It was an urgent fix." he replies to her muttered observation.

She jumps at his voice, startled by how close he'd gotten without her noticing. Her stance turns defensive with her head low and shoulders braced.

"I needed the costume to fit you perfectly."

He stood in front of her, eyes focused on her movements.

She swings the candle stand and keeps distance between them.

How did he know her measurements? Unless he had some piece of her clothing.

"Stay back! Or I swear I'll hurt you!"

Phantom didn't react. Only watched her defensive stance. He knew she'd have questions. What he didn't expect was her hateful gaze.

"Where are we? Why did you bring me here?" she yells as her eyes make quick glances for an exit.

She spots a large open gate on the other side of the water, but that observation took her attention off the Phantom.

He quickly grabs the candle stand making her gasp from fright.

"We're safe. That's all that matters." he says in a calm tone.

Not willing to tempt fate, she drops the candle stand and bolted.

Barefoot she runs down the stairs and straight into the knee deep water.

She trudged through the water as fast as she could, almost swimming. But Phantom was faster.

He pulled the lever down causing the drop gate to descend. Not fast, but fast enough for Y/n to miss her exit.

"NO!" She yells grabbing onto the iron bars that kept her from escape.

"Let me out!" she growls putting her back to the gate with one hand holding her dress up.

Phantom walked towards her, slow enough for her to know she could run if she needed to.

"If you go that way, all you'll find is rubble, and you'll get stuck in the Maze of hallways."

He makes it to right infront of her, before he stops looking down at her frightened face.

"Then I'll ask you again, Phantom!" her words hard and to the point.

"Where are we?" she barked.

Phantom calculated his response for a moment. Then he gave in and sighed in defeat. He knew what he had to do.

"I'll show you. On the condition, you listen to what I have to say, and at the very least, put on something warm."

His words caught Y/n off gaurd. Her face goes from pure anger, to softened confusion. He cared for her? Why?

She looked back at the long stretching hallway behind her, many different ways she could get lost and starve to death trying to find her way back out.

Without thinking, she bit onto her thumb nail. A stressed habit.

She looked back into his eyes. Those pleading eyes eyes that were begging for her to give him one chance.

This made a thought pop into her head. To 'Read the words that come from your partners eyes.' Something Erik said to do.

She looks directly at the man infront of her, finding the meaning behind his words. Her head slowly nods up and down, after a long pause of silence.

Phantom's gaze softened and his lips almost turned to a smile. He turned away from her and trudged through the water back to the stairs.

A little stumble made him suddenly stop and wince, grabbing his leg.

Y/n's subconscious reaction was to jump forward and help. But then she remembered who she was with and quickly retracted her hand.

Instead, she opted to only ask. "Are you alright?"

Phantom steadied himself with a deep breath, then continued walking.

"Just an old wound, my dear."

Another thought pops into Y/n's head. Or rather, a twinge of familiarity. But she couldn't place it. His worded mannerisms, movements. Simply the way he walked? It was so familiar.

Shaking the thought off, she walks back to solid ground where phantom gave her some clothes of his.

She wore a white shirt and black trousers along with a thick heavy coat to keep warm. A familiar smell came from them, mixed in with the dust accumulated over some time. But again, she couldn't place it.

After she was semi-fitted for the cold Paris air. Phantom lead her through many halls, twisted paths and up a large almost infinite staircase.

Slowly, the walls turned to greyed lime stone and extravagant statues came to view. Y/n's heart burned with denial watching the familiar red velvet seats come to view.

A fallen chandelier in the center of the large room, and ashes painted over any and all nearby objects. Heavy statues on the verge of giving way and debris risking a dangerous fall. They stood on the stage looking over a burnt Palais Garnier.

Her hands clasped over her mouth, and her heartache turned to long awaited tears. Her home, reduced to debris and ashes. Doomed never to shine with golden musical theater, again. Memories burnt to nothing.

She sobs into her hands and finally her knees buckle in on themselves.

Erik stood behind her. All he wanted was to hold her close, hold her until her tears ran dry and her sadness faded, never to return.

"W-why did you bring me here!? To see what your distraction caused! Does seeing me cry bring you joy?"

Her breathing rapid once again and she clenched onto the cloak. Panic, Stress, anxiety! All of the sudden, her trauma came flooding back.

Triggers all around her. The burnt beam's on the stage. The crushed glass pieces of the chandelier. Even the thought of going backstage to their rooms made her shudder.

This is where she spent days training with her father, where he spent years slamming her child body into walls if she danced incorrectly.

This is where she, Christine, Meg, as young girls, snuck out to watch the rich ladies in sparkling dresses come in, to see the adult performers.

All because one person couldn't wait! One person couldn't let go of a girl he loved and didn't love him in return. A deformed face, a beautiful singing voice, experienced in all things theater!

She stood up suddenly and spun around to look at him. Her glittering tears flying through the air.

Her thoughts crashed together and aimed to one person.

"Why ERIK! Why!"

Her words echoed powerfully through the Opera house. His name repeating over and over until they faded out.

At first, Y/n was taken aback at her own words. An undermined thought she'd never thought to explore or question. But it all lined up too perfectly.

Perhaps she knew from the start. When she pulled him from the fire. When he avoided the question of his past. Violent tendencies. His love for Christine. But in Y/n's love for all things, how could she just leave him.

Phantom only watched her, both of their hearts pounding in sync. His head drops down, not looking at her.

"Y/n.." he barely whispers.

"Don't! Don't say anything!" she hushed him immediately. Making everything silent so she could hear her own speeding thoughts.

She walks closer to him. A creaking from her footsteps on stage, and hesitation in her movements.

Suddenly she was face to face with him, the monster? The man she grew to love?

Her hands move to his and mask. A slowly lift from the bottom. Time moved slow, as the air shifted. Finally, Erik appears before her again.

"Look at me Erik." her voice cracks at her demand.

Erik is slowly to meet her eyes. His guilt burnt so bright. But his need for her forgiveness simmered in a sliver of tears.

Y/n was angry, so incredibly angry. The man infront of her was both a deceiver, and a liar! But he was also her roommate, her colleague, her love.

" 'Read the words that come from your partners eyes', that's what you told me, remember?" She repeats a bit of advice she got from none other than Erik.

She takes his jaw, nor harshly, but enough to emphasize her anger.

"So read my eyes now."

Erik Stood strong for a moment, looking at her. Reading her every emotion and thought with clear understanding. Wet eyes, opposing to the fire burning within them.

"You want an explanation." he says plainly, his large cloak waving heavily in the wind behind him, engulfing her.

"If I'd told you, the day of the fire. You'd have reacted worse than you are now. I was so very ready to leave the inn that night. Prepared to leave everything and go search for my angel of music."

He finally touches her cheek. A black leather glove brushing over her now frosted tears.

"Then my savior stood at the windowsill. Crying for a love who should've been in my place. And I couldn't leave."

He chuckles deeply as his other hand joins the one on her cheek.

"If you know how easily you can command me, just by looking at me with those tearful eyes, I'd be at your mercy. An eternal slave."

He held her face delicately, making sure her attention was on nothing but him. A little furious hamster in the palms of his hands.

"Christine was my angel of music. But you're the goddess of every beat from my heart."

A slow kiss onto her head as he beacons her ever closer with the smooth voice she'd become addicted to.

"You've captured my soul, my darling Y/n. And you've enslaved me to your every tear. I love you."

He confesses in a small ice covered whisper.

She knew, more than anything she couldn't forgive him so easily. She stood there, holding that haunting mask in her hand, knowing how much pain and desire such a mask bought.

His hands on her cheeks, carefully holding her like the most precious rose.

She felt her lip quiver before quickly biting down on it, trying to keep her heart contained for a little longer.

"And if I don't love you? If I still love Aloïs?" she lied though her teeth. Selfishly testing his answer. Searching for any reason to leave her yearning heart behind in the snow.

"Then I'll simply have to use every ounce of my power to convince you to spend an eternity of this, before your eyes. A haunted face that holds horror, and a soul where distortion lies."

All she needed to hear was that. That he'd fight for her and not simply let her go again. She clenched her teeth, there was one last thing she had to be sure of.

"And.. Christine?"

Erik paused for another second, carefully lifting his hands away to scuffle in his pocket. Two rings. Aloïs's and Christine's layed in his palm.

As if it was the easiest decision he made, he simply twisted his wrist diagonally. Dropping the two jewels into the dust and snow.

"She may have had my heart once. But you carry it now."

Y/n glanced down at the rings. Perhaps selfishly, she laughed, and quickly pushed her palm over her eyes, wiping the tears off her eyelashes.

"You're such a fool, such a horrid lier, quick to anger, quick to fight! Quick to capture my heart."

She took a small breath, not being able to stop the smile that forced itself onto her lips.

"I love you too."

He hates Harry for leaving, and the fact that he can't forget him. But at least he's got Zayn- his flatmate and only real friend who's also the least problematic person ever. 7x10: Chaos Agent

Alexi used this episode as a promo for Zander’s music, and you know what? I’m not even mad. The major disappointment with Zander was not performing Cop Cuties.

The cold open with him being Celina’s date with a hidden agenda to get closer to Nolan is comical. I also love Bailey and Celina’s mother/daughter relationship even though Jenna’s only 9 years older than Lisseth.

Daddy Cop: Tim’s Version

I’m not surprised that Lucy knows Daddy Cop. In one of my fics, she sings it so much that their 3 year old daughter ends up innocently singing it to Tim.

This Chenford and Nolan scene also speaks to Chenford’s progress. Compared to that godforsaken food truck scene in 7x02 when Lucy made that problematic paying off her “debt of gratitude” to Tim statement, this scene was classic Chenford.

Up until 7x07, I was one of Chenford’s biggest critics and up until 7x05, I was extremely protective of Lucy. They jumped right into the season with flirting (Tim) and bantering (Lucy) without a roadmap of where they’d been during the hiatus. The season became more enjoyable for me once Tim started showing his feelings. Tim is actively trying to fix what he thinks is irreparable. He didn’t even do this with his wife (7x07). Once the damage was done with Isabel, he moved on. But with Lucy, it’s different.

Lucy: I don’t understand why men take everything so seriously Tim: I don’t see how you can generalize something like that Lucy: Experience

There are different ways to interpret “experience.” If this is a Cholan reference, I hope whomever wrote this episode gets skunked. 

I think it’s her being spicy towards Tim in a sarcastic/feisty way and telling him that he takes everything so seriously.

The Lucy that sang Cop Cuties, bantered with Tim, and then had her hand on Tim’s arm in the raccoon scene was different from the Lucy that bantered with Tim in 7x01. She didn’t have the stiffness of 7x01, the morning after avoidance of 7x06, nor the love declaration avoidance of 7x08. I see that as progress. He’s been doing the work to work his way back into a place where she’s comfortable with him. That took time. His hard work is paying off because the Lucy in these two scenes, “experience” jab aside, is seemingly the Lucy in S5 that stole his radio.

Chenford: Miles’ Biological Parents

Smitty sneaks off into Tim’s old office to eat his donuts (and, let’s be honest, take a nap). Smitty almost face plants when Tim shoves him. They did it for comedic purposes, but shoving a coworker is grounds for termination in real life. 

Tim and Lucy give conflicting advice to Miles about what to do with the raccoon. Lucy undermining Tim in front of his rookie is funny yet disrespectful—no one else could get away with that. Tim lets Lucy get away with it. “Small doses” Tim will let Lucy get away with just about anything if it doesn’t harm her. But if the roles were reversed and he undermined Lucy in front of her rookie, fandom would be in hell over it. 

Lucy and a rodent (quick take)

Rodent: You think this guy is really gonna come back for her?Lucy: I think there is no guy Me: I think there is no cancer Rodent: Holy cow, that’s wild. She seems so innocent. Me, since December: Rodent’s evil. If Lucy’s career gets tainted by yet another white male (Nolan, Bradford, Primm, Rodent) I’ll -  Fandom discovering Rodent's true colors: Holy cow, that’s wild. Rodent seems so innocent.

Lucy and Her Stepmother

I love Luna’s sass as she asks Lucy “why?” Why is she asking Luna about a shady oncologist? It seems more reasonable for Wes, Angela or Nyla to prod into Hasanoff.

Also Lucy’s stepmother: I will not tell your father unless I need to.

I love the way Luna reads Lucy like an open book. Lucy counts her losses and spills the beans. They have the insurance talk. Luna tells Lucy “If I needed a doctor to lie for me, Hasanoff is who I would go to.” The Watch Commander’s wife took all of a minute to figure out that Seth is lying. She’s not messing around. I think she knows about Seth’s mishandling of the Wildfire. There’s just no way Grey didn’t go home that evening and vent to Luna. 

Look, Lucy would not go to the Watch Commander’s wife for work help if she didn’t need it. It’s a cry for guidance. She needs to know her instincts about Seth are correct and Luna tells her without telling her that it’s correct. I was in Lucy’s shoes last year, trying to figure out my own five player trade. You get to the line as close as you can without crossing it, and the other party does too. Just enough information is exchanged to make your move. 

He’s Definitely NOT Undermining Her

I don’t think Tim was undermining Lucy in 6x01. I think he gave her what she asked for but I don’t think she used her words correctly to ask him for what she truly needed. Tim would give her anything as long as it doesn’t harm her. He’s perceptive for a guy but he’s still a guy. She knows that about him. She knows HOW to ask him and how he’s going to respond. As she told Isabel, she’s got him all figured out. 

All season long, he’s giving her space and agency to deal with Seth. She asks him for help and he gives her distance to figure it out while still having her back when things go south. 

When she calls him after her conversation with Luna, he doesn’t tell her what to do until she asks for it. When she does, he gives her the tools to make her own decisions. He’s in crisis mode at Mid Wilshire with the inmates but he still picks up her call. Husband material.

Bye, bitch.

There’s a missing scene between Lucy’s phone call to Tim and Seth’s firing. Tim told Lucy to get the hospital to draw Seth’s blood. Lucy never asked Seth on her own. She went back to the station to deal with Zuzu, had a conversation with Tim, Tim gave her a gameplan, they briefed Wade, and arrived at the hospital as a unit. I think Chenford both knew that Seth would retaliate against Lucy if it were just her asking Seth. He’s taken advantage of her all season, he’ll try to do it again if it were just her asking him to submit to a blood draw. 

Seth is a white man. Tim, Nolan, and Wes are too but they’re cut from a different cloth. There’s privilege at play but the latter three wouldn’t knowingly use it to their advantage. Seth would. Seth is always using his status as a young white man to his advantage. Compare what he gets away with to Miles who gets away with nothing. Miles would never try anything with Tim. Miles tried with Lucy until Tim shut him down. Seth tries with Lucy all the time, even after Tim shut him down. It’s difficult for women to train male rookies. It’s even more difficult for women of color to train white male rookies. You’d have to be a Nolan type for it to be effective.

I think this is the main reason why Lucy didn’t ask Seth to submit to a blood draw without backup, and why Tim and Wade are involved. She recognizes what’s happening. Tim can’t get Seth to submit to a blood draw, he’s not Seth’s TO. But Wade can.

Tim is so over it the moment he sees Seth.

Wade lays out the grounds for termination. Only Wade can officially terminate Seth. This mirrors 7x04 when Tim told Lucy they should talk to Wade about Seth. 

A switch goes off in Seth. He has no reason to be nice and clumsy anymore. He turns mean. 

Tim then gives Seth the procedures following dismissal. I think if Tim were Seth’s TO, he’d lay down the rules and escort Seth off the property himself. But I think there’s the unspoken status at play again, Tim recognizes this, and, accompanies Lucy in escorting Seth.

Lucy is Never Alone

One of Tim’s most powerful lines in S1 is when he tells the criminals that he’s never alone and the LAPD shows up in the air, on the ground, etc.

Lucy is never alone, either. She has powerful people in her corner. Luna gave her solid advice. Wade, though there were still messes to be dealt with at the station, went to the hospital just for her and arranged for another officer to stand guard in place of Seth. 

And Tim. Tim won the 7x01 bet with the rookies, and Lucy’s career remains unscathed since she went through the proper channels. It’s a win-win.

Tim Bradford would do anything for Lucy Chen. She may not want to go to him for advice about her personal life, but keep in mind that she shares an apartment with Celina and Rachel. Tim is there where it counts, where it matters, where it’s essential. He’ll protect her with his life.

The raccoon saved Tim’s life and singlehandedly made sure that Chenford is NOT bones.

I saw some chatter about Melissa being the only one who cares about Lucy. That’s simply not true. There are probably a hundred people involved in making Lucy Chen, Lucy Chen. Ah yes, 2d hand drawn animation is quite nice, even when rough around the edges. In comparison, 3d animation tends to look real uncanny unless it's done skillfully. Not naming any names here.

So, since the demon war was a failure, I guess that's why Ariel decides to run away and become a gamer girl in this timeline.

While the LN/Anime designs have grown on me, I still greatly prefer this version of Arachne White. The proportions (particularly the abdomen) fit her agile scrappy style better, her leg scythes are cooler, and the inhuman elements of her human half are nifty.

The only real issue is the spider head. Ever since someone pointed out that the manga design has three segments like an insect, I can't unsee it.

Also, since White doesn't remember anything she does while drunk, does that mean this encounter could be canon?

I could probably spend a lot of time on talking how idv fandom doesn't have the feeling of a proper fandom sometimes due to the lack of people actually doing fun stuff and making events (I already touched upon this on Bluesky the other day) that are participatory in nature and are done for the love of the media itself rather than getting something out of it. Now I want to talk about how it does feel hard to even try and make something, because unless it's an exchange, you don't really see people participating in things.

I'm a part of a discord server that's centered around creating fics for the most part (art is there too but it's writing centered. ficwip, you might be familiar with it) and really, if the event is not a longer one like a bang, it has motivated me to create more and participate in events ran by the mods there. Having no restrictions beyond the themes of the event (meaning no morality restrictions) has actively helped me wanna participate in events more, even outside of it. I now use dreamwidth a lot and find various events there, both exchanges and other forms like bingos and challenges and it has been very freeing and fun.

All of this stems from the fact that you can do whatever you want with ships. The main rule for many of these events is 'no morality restrictions' and everything is immediately better. And it's something seriously missing in this fandom because way too many people are up the the ass about ships they don't like or topic they think are wrong, even if we're talking about fiction. If this attitude was changed, there would be a massive improvement in the experience I believe.

There absolutely are people like that, whether they like problematic topics or not, but that doesn't really matter. It's sadly just not enough. Having creative minds is what drives fandom to be a better and more enjoyable place, and at the moment, there's sadly not enough of them. Many left because the fandom itself is kinda shit about it still, I've seen that happen too with people I follow who now go to different fandoms and aren't having problems like these (or where they are present, they're minimal and can be avoided easily). It actively pains me because other than losing people who were amazing creatives, if you don't go there too, it's hard to connect if you don't enjoy the said new media to a level where you'd be in the fandom.

I often see people say 'switch fandoms if yours is terrible' but at least for me, I can't just do that on a random Tuesday. It requires a very specific set of conditions. Last time, when I was into bsd, for me it was not enjoying the current stage where the manga was it, fandom being toxic and mean, lack of creative ideas and the fact that a person I really hated and who was previously known for being a rabid anti joining a server I was in and no one seemed to be aware of that (they have changed their stance long ago, but that doesn't really change the fact they which hunted people and were horrible in general). The last point being the breaking one, that pushed me into looking at idv as a writing outlet.

Up until that point, I've already played the game for over a year. It took me a whole year of playing to actually get into the fandom.

I don't know when I'll be in a situation where this just clicks like that again. I've liked and played a lot of new games since then, not even once I've thought of wanting to actively be in the fandom for any of them. I don't consume animamga like I used to when I was younger, it's now much slower and I'm pickier about it, but nothing truly catches my attention beyond enjoying the media and thinking about it for a while.

TLDR: fandoms need creatives who can do whatever they like without restrictions for the fandom to flourish and have a nice community and switching fandoms can be a pain depending on how your relationship is with it.

im generally pretty open to most ships, its just a matter of like. either i already liked the ship / was really into the ship or im more neutral about it and you just gotta convince me why i should at least give it a shot or be like "this could be good in certain circumstances". i dont usually care if a ship is toxic or "problematic" per say bc 1. this is rezero and sooo so many ships in this show arent 100% healthy lbr and 2. i will like a ship if its like. complex, and if theres problematic stuff, then its done for a reason - like it's not just there willy nilly. but thats just my personal feelings on it yep!! :o fiction is different from real life and all that.

that being said like. you know, kinda like you said - the obvious answers would be like subaru x any minors and just any sort of incest ships bc like. i do not see the point of it. that and you know, like a lot of people, i tend to avoid these sorts of ships with 99.999% of fandoms im in. i aint here for incest or shipping adults with minors. and i know theres like fandoms like game of thrones where this sort of thing IS relevant in the story, but with rezero - like it just is not relevant here and adds nothing unless youre into that. i do get that fictional stuff is different from real life and its not necessarily an indication of someone's character. i also definitely know this bc ive cowritten a gluttony if selfcest fic for this fandom as a very extreme crack treated seriously story hahh. but yeah like. ships between family and adult x minor are Not For Me in this fandom. i dont feel like it adds anything to the story and its also like Really out of character.

granted, i cant really say much on that bc ive written and posted selfcest for this fandom but like. in my defense, i did way too much research for that fic (..............i researched a lot of psychology stuff) and also gluttonybaru is Canonically Not Normal about subaru. the more you think about gluttonybaru the worse he gets HAH. like. dude has canonically kissed subaru via emilia's book of the dead....................

but obviously ofc i do not condone any of this ^^^^ in real life.

anyway on a lighter note!! im not a huge fan of most ships between subaru and *insert a female side character here*. like im not a big fan of like. subaru x anastasia, subaru x priscilla, subaru x elsa, subaru x yorna, subaru x pandora, like... the list can get kinda long bc people in this fandom in certain english spaces like to ship him with like any girl ever, it feels like sometimes. it gets to the point where sometimes i feel like subaru is just the self-insert to be shipped with women that people have the hots for.

like with most content about these sorts of ships, its hard for me to see much point to it - and there IS potential there. there is almost always potential in so many different tropes and ships, and theres some cool fanart in this fandom with these ships!! but you know, i hear about people suggesting ideas with these ships or writing fic about these ships and its just not my cup of tea bc it really sacrifices the characterization of all these women. and elsa is like already sexualized enough okay and its almost never nuanced and taking into account her backstory :( like i could be convinced to ship these ships with like idk 20k to 200k words of relationship and character development, but as it stands i personally really dont like them hah ;-;;; and also priscilla is clearly more into women okay (she canonically talks about how men are only allowed to fantasize about her and nothing more or she'll cut off their heads!!) and anastasia seems more into like julius and priscilla so like. HAH.

subaru x crusch is not something im a big fan of but im pretty open to it hah, i just havent seen much fancontent about them that really piques my interest :,)

anyway i also just. dont like the idea of taking a gay subaru ship and genderbending only one of them due to homophobia. and ill emphasize and underline that last part - due to homophobia - bc ive seen really good genderbend subaru content in this fandom where subarus afab and shipped with like julius or reinhard or something and there was clear effort and passion put into it!! and i do think its interesting thinking about how genderbend aus would affect this sort of thing for sure <3 i really really enjoy seeing the well made genderbend aus in this fandom!!

also on a less serious note HAH ok like..... ok hear me out, dont kill me for saying this either, but - fredotto. frederica and otto. and - ok dont get me wrong, i think theyd be really really interesting for multiple reasons, right. and ive seen some cute fancontent on them that i liked a lot!! so i really do think they have lots of potential!! like theres the obvious "otto had a crush on a cat as a child and frederica's a cat demihuman", then theres the other obvious fact of otto and frederica being connected via garfiel being their brother/brother figure, and also like personality/temperament wise they could bounce off of each other in interesting ways but like.

the thing with fredotto is that i feel like in english fandom its treated as the "more likely" otto ship to happen, at times. which is Absurd to me after studying otto's lore way too hard bc not only is this dude just way too obsessed with subaru (like regardless of whether you view it as platonic or romantic or not, ottos like Down Bad either way LMAO i just dont see him having eyes for anyone else at this rate)... but also otto OPENLY ADMITS that he'd be bad in a relationship with a woman. like im really sorry but frederica would probably be Too Good for him. and he would Know That.

.... as anyone who has been here in my account lately knows, I'm hyper fixated on Kendrick Lamar. And yes, like all insanely hyper fixated people [well, at least I get INSANELY hyper fixated when I get hyper fixated.] I DARED to look in AO3, simply typing in Kendrick Lamar's name.

Much to may chagrin, and I'm being very honest here, most of the stuff is Kendrick x Drake. That honestly, does not sit WELL with me. HOWEVER, however, within the entire sea of useless fanfics where they pair him up with the culture vulture fartfile that is Drake, there was this 'ONE' gem that paired him up with JOHN WICK.

I was like... HOLD THE PHONE, let me read this.

It was one of those ABO type fics you know? with the alphas and the omegas and the betas.

I'm not very familiar with that type of fic, but the way this one was written was 'ABSOLUTE WORK OF ART', That is EXACTLY how I want to see Drake portrayed. Nothing but a bumbling, impulsive, idiotic villain to Kendrick's maybe not so heroic, but loner, but not so loner type of character low key BAMF who can fend off an insane Alpha like Drake.

Like I said, I am not into Kendrick/Drake type fics. Unless Drake is being portrayed as the enemy and STAYS the enemy throughout and Kendrick kicks his ass as he should, and none of that shit involves him getting with Drake, then it's good.

That pairing makes a little more sense to me, especially given J Cole's real reactions to Kendrick's one line 'Fuck the big three, it's only big me' or something along those lines. [it's not a direct quote but something along those lines.] J Cole reacted, but then backtracked, and said 'LOVE, only for Kendrick.' lol ... Whatever that was, I thought it was cute, as opposed to many other people who just wanted to see blood.

And yes, I know real person fiction is not a thing people like to read a lot. Some do, some don't. Some find it very problematic, while others enjoy it very much.

I personally was curious, not gonna lie. Yeah I was frowning most of the time. All the pages were pages full of Drake x Kendrick or Kendrick x Drake. It was like... COME ON.... Where is the fic where I get to read Kendrick defeating the shit out of Drake, just like he's done in real life? Mopping the floor with him or something?

That fic satisfied my wishes, to be honest. That's why I have highlighted it and really recommend it. It's a one shot, but it's awesome. Also, like I said, it's ABO and it has those themes, but it's really really good. I promise.

I’ve got a question for you.

I have two/three characters in my RWBY fic that I want to kill off by way of “Death by the Author” however, those are Port and Coco… there’s one character that I don’t know what to do with and that’s Jaune.

Like I’ve got a sort-of plan for Jaune but my story can work without him just as well.

It’s either I kill Jaune off at the start or he’s relegated to a background character.

Port/Coco are problematic for me since the horrible stuff that Port’s VA has done and the fact that Coco is based off of the fact she WORKED WITH the Nazi’s… anyways I’m ranting, sorry.

What would you do with Jaune? Sorry if you’ve already answered this before.

This is something that I've agonised over too (even if rn I'm not so much stuck behind a writer's block as in a writer's oubliette), so I def get you.

As to your question specifically, allow me to present you with one of my own: why can't you get rid of them? You're writing the story you want to write, if that doesn't include Port, Coco, or Jaune, it doesn't include them. You can just not put them in.

Now, that's pretty easy with Port and Coco, but with Jaune maybe a bit more difficult. In that case, when does your fic start? If it's after initiation, just mention something along the lines of how that blonde boy was crazy for trying to get in without his aura unlocked. Or just don't even mention him but put an author's note, if you prefer that route. If it's significantly after initiation, when everyone should already have an established relationship, you'll have to give some kind of reason unless you're just replacing him wholesale, but you can do that before the beginning of the fic; he got found out and expelled, his grades dipped too low and likewise, he saw that he was never going to be able to be the big hero and quit, he got seriously hurt on a mission and the reality of how dangerous the job is hit him so he went home, etc. Or any of the "just after initiation" ones too, just with more time between so you present them differently. If the start of the fic is before initiation, then you just…don't put him there at all, unless you specifically want to show him being an incompetent ass and getting hurt or sent away.

The more important thing with removing Jaune is what do you want to do with his absence? Are you rearranging the teams? Putting someone else in his place? Making JNPR into PRN or something and Pyrrha partnerless? Whatever you're doing there, it's gonna have a big effect on the course things should take during the Beacon days and probably thereafter as well.
