A team of researchers has created a new supply chain model which could empower the international hydrogen renewable energy industry.
Hydrogen has been touted as the clean fuel of the future; it can be generated from water and produces zero carbon emissions. However, it is currently expensive to transport over long distances, and currently no infrastructure is in place to do so.
The new supply chain model, created by researchers in Australia, Singapore and Germany, successfully guides the development of international transport of hydrogen and its embodied energy.
The full report was recently published in the peer-reviewed journal, , Energy Conversion and Management.
Associate Professor Kaveh Khalilpour, from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and lead of the report, said supply chain design is critical for making hydrogen economic.

Over the last several months, engineers have been at work in the clean room at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, putting together the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
The Coronagraph Instrument—a technology demonstration designed to image exoplanets—and Optical Telescope Assembly—which includes the primary mirror and nine additional mirrors—are now attached to the Instrument Carrier.
With those components in place, the team then added Roman’s primary instrument, the Wide Field Instrument. This 300-megapixel infrared camera will give Roman a deep, panoramic view of the universe.
The observatory is on track for completion by fall 2026 and launch no later than May 2027.

Hey everyone,
At uni this semester I'm doing a research paper on the video essay medium and the ways it can benefit professional film/tv criticism. As part of it I'm conducting a survey among fans of film and tv on their preferences when it comes to consuming criticism.
It's 10 questions, multiple choice, and completely anonymous. Shouldn't take more than 3 minutes. Please consider helping me out by participating, and feel free to message me if you have any questions! 🙏🏿🧑🏿‍🎓📝🤗

The Best News of Last Week - May 15, 2023
🧲 - Magnetic Marvels: Researchers Flip the Switch on Depression
1. New Zealand Government announces prescriptions charges will be free.
Tumblr media
The $5 prescription fee at pharmacies will be scrapped in July. This is set to save about 3 million people a year money, and in particular 770,000 people aged over 65. It will make most prescriptions in New Zealand free.
Free access to medicines is also hoped to ease pressure on the over-burdened health system by helping people get medicines sooner.
2. Platypuses return to Sydney's Royal National Park after disappearing for decades
Tumblr media
Platypuses have been relocated to the Royal National Park in Sydney, after they disappeared from the park's waterways about 50 years ago. A joint project by the University of New South Wales, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and the World Wildlife Fund has reintroduced five females to the Hacking River, with a group of males to follow next week.
3. 74-year-old musician Otis Taylor gets Denver high school diploma decades after being expelled for hair
Tumblr media
A musician who was expelled from a Denver high school over 50 years ago received his diploma. Otis Taylor was kicked out of Manual High School in 1966 because of his hair. This was decades before laws ending racial hair discrimination. Denver Public Schools wanted to right a wrong.
4. Researchers treat depression by reversing brain signals traveling the wrong way (with magnets)
Tumblr media
A new study led by Stanford Medicine researchers is the first to reveal how magnetic stimulation treats severe depression: by correcting the abnormal flow of brain signals. Powerful magnetic pulses applied to the scalp to stimulate the brain can bring fast relief to many severely depressed patients for whom standard treatments have failed.
The FDA-cleared treatment, known as Stanford neuromodulation therapy, incorporates advanced imaging technologies to guide stimulation with high-dose patterns of magnetic pulses that can modify brain activity related to major depression. Compared with traditional TMS, which requires daily sessions over several weeks or months, SNT works on an accelerated timeline of 10 sessions each day for just five days.
5. Electricity generation through solar, wind and water exceeded total demand in mainland Spain on Tuesday, a pattern that will be repeated more and more in the future
Tumblr media
The Spanish power grid on Tuesday tasted an appetizer of the renewable energy banquet that is expected to flourish in the coming years. For nine hours, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., the generation of green electricity was more than enough to cover 100% of Spanish peninsular demand, a milestone that had already been reached on previous occasions, but not for such a prolonged period.
6. RI Senate passes bill making lunch free at all public schools
Tumblr media
Free lunch for all public school students in Rhode Island is one step closer to becoming a reality.
Tuesday night the Rhode Island Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill by a vote of 31-4 that would do just that. If the companion bill in the House were to pass, that takes effect July 1. The bill would make breakfast and lunch free for all public school students in the state, regardless of their household income.
7. Critically endangered red wolf pups born at North Carolina Zoo
The North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro celebrated the arrival of “not one but TWO litters” of the world’s most endangered wolf – the red wolf – in late April and early May.
A total of nine pups were born – three to parents Marsh and Roan, and six to Denali and May – the zoo announced on May 9.

Not even the fleeting touch of the soft breeze caressing his cheek could make Bang Chan feel human again. He had lost himself long ago. That wasn't who he was anymore. Now, and forever more, he was CB97. Half cyborg, half human, he was a failed experiment abandoned to the hands of nature's unpredictable ways.
The tall, moist blades of grass swayed lazily against the bare skin of his numb legs. Slender willow trees loomed over him, a circle of gracefulness encompassing him in a shaded cloak. Even with the natural entities drawn towards him, CB97 remained in a dreamless sleep, less alive than the plants.
It wasn't his fault that his dreams were stolen away from him.
His youth was stolen away from him. Bang Chan was an aspiring idol, so eager to join JYPE with his talents; singing, rapping, dancing, playing the guitar and playing the piano, that he was quick to get that flight to Seoul from his home Sydney. Why wouldn't he be? He had already attempted to enter the K-pop world at the age of 13, but once he turned 16 his parents finally agreed. Unfortunately, they would come to regret that if they knew of what had transpired.
Sucked into a web of lies, Bang Chan had stumbled into an illegal experimental facility, an organisation attempting to unite all living creatures into one thriving species - or at least that was what he had overheard under the influence of a strong anaesthetic. Really, it was a dangerous test playing on the boundaries between humans, animals and technology. Everything that had happened to him was built into his hard drive, permanently etched into his new and improved working memory. If he was conscious and chose to scan his own database, he would be able to find the audiovisual remnants of how he was treated.
"Welcome to the future, CB97."
Future? He didn't have a future. He had nobody, nothing.
"It's eyes... I told you we needed to insert more circuits into-"
"It's still human!"
"If you hadn't backpedaled on creating an actual robot-"
"This was a much more efficient way! We keep the brain and we rewire it as we see fit. I told the whole team from the beginning of the rules! This is how we run the experiments around here."
Experiments. Ah, yes. Plural.
A cacophony of sounds had awoken CB97 when he was wheeled into a sterile room, three blank white walls and one glass wall. Multiple of these rooms lined the dimly lit corridor, nameplates along with 'EXTERMINATION' were stuck on the windows of each failure. First, he failed to become an idol, and now, he wasn't even good enough to be a test dummy?
In his assigned space there was nothing to stimulate his brain, just a plain, old chair for him to sit on. The days dragged on monotonously, whether it was the slamming of huge beasts throwing their bodies against their enclosures, deep, gravely growls, haunting shrieks or the droning of the execution buzzer. He didn't feel a thing. He didn't even have an ounce of dread hollowing away at the pit of his stomach knowing it would be his turn soon. Maybe, deep down he knew that it would be different for him.
"We can't dispose of CB97 like the others, it's still too humane, they'd be able to trace this all back to us!"
Different alarms had been blaring at that time. Urgent beeping and scientists running back and forth with files and trollies containing test tubes with concerning colours.
"Then we leave it where no one will ever find it."
Deserted. Isolated. Alone. He still remained in the same place he had been left. When he had felt sunlight hit him again for the first time in what felt like centuries, he had awoken. Bang Chan, not CB97. He cried, he sobbed, he screamed in anger at the way fate had led him. His soul had been dealt the cruelest punishment. His nervous breakdown horrified the cruel, cowardly scientists who had to transport him to the middle of nowhere. They had desperately scrambled away at the sight of the tumultuous sparks of electricity emanating from their experiment. They were lucky to escape. He wasn't.
Almost as if the last part of humanity was being drained from within him, cables dug themselves into the dry, cracked soil, intertwining viciously with tree roots and tying him to the same spot for the rest of his life.
Two years. That's how long he had been asleep for. That's how long it had been since his body shut down on him. Never to wake again was the most likely outcome.
"She's not a normal baby, she's this, this horrible thing!" a woman screamed, a bundle in her arms.
"We needed the money!"
"And look where that got us!"
"Then leave her here, already! No one... No one has to know..." a man pleaded desperately with his ex partner.
"I know! I know, what you did, to her... to us! You ruined everything!"
Crying. Sobbing. Screaming. It was a familiar pattern in rare occasions such as this, yet Chan was still unresponsive, until the wails of a baby caused an involuntary jerk of his leg.
Abandoned. Like us. Must analyse.
System rebooting.
As if they had a life of their own, the branches of the trees that cocooned Bang Chan withdrew from his awakening figure. His eyes flickered open, feeling the electricity course through his brains as his programmed instincts went into overdrive.
Scanning surroundings. Being identified.
It was a child. They were just like him, left to rot and succumb to whatever was thrown at them next. CB97 was able to analyse the situation at hand, whereas Bang Chan knew he had to help.
With a loud yell he stood to his feet, dirt exploding into the air when he rigidly took one step forwards.
Move closer for further identification.
Was he fortunate to not feel any tension in his body after not moving for years? Was he lucky to have not felt the aches in his joints and the cracks in his bones as he approached the newborn.
Not a newborn. Estimated age is 1 year. Appears to be a grindylow.
A grindylow? What on earth was that? Vaguely in the back of his mind CB97 saw a memory of reading the Harry Potter series, that same word appearing. So he must have been somewhat knowledgeable on what the creature in front of him was.
Grindylows are water demons with large horns, pale skin, long arms and feet, sharp teeth and scaly skin.
Ah, that must have been the Wikipedia installation.
Bang Chan approached the wailing baby whose cries instantly stopped once they were lifted into the air. Oddly enough, the young grindylow didn't seem to mind the way it was awkwardly held, Chan's arms outstretched in front of him at a 90° angle and his hands supporting the child from under their arms.
Features appear to be undeveloped.
"You have growing to do, little one," Bang Chan blinked at the child in his stiff arms.
Round, shining eyes gazed sweetly at him, tufts of hair messily sticking up in the air. A pout soon faded away at the feeling of contact with another creature, the grindylow feeling safer than ever as they giggled at the stoic expression Bang Chan wore.
Error. Behaviour not processing.
"You can stay."
Were cyborgs able to feel a sense of accomplishment or fulfilment? Was CB97 less present when caring for another? Was Bang Chan allowed to feel content for even a moment? Here he was, aware, raising his own, sort of, child.
---
"I think I'll call you Nelly."
Nelly babbled excitedly, their fangs coming through stronger now as they gnawed on a piece of bark that Chan had retrieved.
Teething stage recognised.
---
Baby is crying. Nelly, upset. Must stop.
"I don't know what you need," Bang Chan fussed, rocking Nelly in his arms as he searched for a reason why they were so distressed.
"Ah. I think you need water," he nodded once, and promptly launched Nelly out of his arms and into the swampy lake nearby.
He had no need to question why he had done what would otherwise be seen as a cruel and unimaginable act. He knew what his child needed.
Nelly, happy. Task complete.
---
In a rundown district of Seoul, a muscly man with glitter sparkling from his skin huffed in frustration.
"He needs healing but I cannot enter his dreams. I don't have enough time to help him myself. I need to check on the communities in our neighbouring district first. I sense a broken soul I can help but I need you two do to this for me."
"I'm in."
"Got you covered, Binnie."
---
Water time is over. Nelly needs feeding.
"Nelly! I have food for you!" Bang Chan called, brows furrowed in concern as he traipsed the edge of the lake, careful not to get too close in case he fatally harmed himself and his system.
Splashes in the lake caught his attention, as well as the sound of delighted snuffing and teeth grinding together. That was his Nelly, alright.
Heat vision on. Nelly detected. One new grindylow detected.
Is that why they were so happy? They found another one of their kind? Bang Chan hadn't seen such strong emotion in Nelly since the time he had reprimanded them over them recklessly luring a poor human boy to the lake. This was a much better sight, better sound to hear them the previous whines when Nelly had lost claw privileges.
"Nelly. You and your friend can come out and eat! I found some- Nelly?" Bang Chan called out again when Nelly popped their head out, breaking through the surface of the water. Why did they have a sad look on their face? Why were they swimming away? The lake was huge it wouldn't be safe.
Why wasn't Nelly coming back?
"Nelly..." Bang Chan looked down, sadness overwhelming him.
System overload. System shutdown.
---
Nelly didn't return. Chan had rebooted a day after their disappearance, having a reason, a purpose to be awake. He searched around the lake everyday, but piles of uneaten food he had gathered stayed neatly in organised stacks in the foliage by the lake. He switched between different settings, both in his surroundings and his vision programmes. Normal vision, thermal detection, movement scanner. He caught nothing.
Flying objects incoming.
Flying objects? But grindylows couldn't fly could they? Unless Nelly had found their way back to him? He could question them once he was reunited with them! Once he sees Nelly again he can-
It wasn't Nelly.
Bat approaching. Fairy approaching.
Right in front of his very eyes, a bat and a fairy landed down on the tree stump opposite him before morphing into more human forms. That was Nelly's seat.
"You must be CB97. I'm Yang Jeongin, head of Oddinary House. This is Felix, my friend. We've been looking for you for a while now."
"You can come with us now, we'll help you."

hi! been inspired lately to create an urban design sideblog—so here you go! going to post a bunch of content from my classes here.
some guidelines/about me’s going forward:
I try to have an open minded view of how we design cities that takes into account history, the needs of people, and the overall good of the planet. If you want a blog that bashes cars I’ve been through that phase and out the other side. I’m not gonna be that blog for you
this blog has the opposite of a DNI!! If you disagree with me, I want to hear from you! I’m a strong believer that we can’t create good cities unless we listen to the needs of every person in them. and I’m assuming you’re a person in a city (or a regional area) who deserves to be listened to!
my background is in environmental science and I WILL be constantly thinking of how to incorporate ecology into our cities as well as Indigenous land stewardship. I won’t hesitate to call out trends I believe to be modern colonialism but I’ll also find the positives in them even while doing so
my main interests are transit cities, water sensitive urban design, biodiversity sensitive urban and social equity within cities. but I’ve also got a soft spot for placemaking (sometimes) and will cover every aspect of urban design!
im Australian. most of my examples will be from Australia. I also try to highlight the global south where possible, but the fact is that I have limited access to any international resources. If you have more international examples I want to see them! Just—don’t expect this blog to be america centric. Or europe centric. I have never been above the equator.
at this stage I won’t be blogging about working in the industry because I don’t do that. I don’t know if I ever will, because my goal is to create a nonprofit to use urban design for social and environmental good. HOWEVER if you do work in the industry I want to hear from you! because I genuinely have no idea what it’s like
im neurodivergent (adhd + pda profile) and mixed race and this will influence my designs. I will call out white, colonial or neurotypical norms. to find out more about it and my more unhinged thoughts while studying and going through life check out my main blog @faithfromanewperspective
url is from close my eyes by luke hemmings. to find out more about the music taste that inspires what I do head over to my (mostly 5sos) music blog @edge-oftheworld. I’m a musician too, and also an athlete and potential future tradie. I try to take into account the transport needs of these (non-mainstream) occupations when designing cities, but it’s a massive push against the tide to do so. I reckon it only helps my creativity though!
i don’t own the copyright of any of the material I post unless it’s specifically my own design and I will tag it as that. all rights go to the University of Technology Sydney unless referenced otherwise. Please don’t doxx me, I don’t know what the copyright laws are and I don’t want to be expelled from my uni!

Note
I totally understand and can empathize with fat activists when it comes to medical fatphobia. But I do think its important to provide nuance to this topic.
A lot of doctors mention weight loss, particularly for elective surgeries, because it makes the recovery process easier (Particularly with keeping sutures in place) and anesthetic safer.
I feel like its still important to mention those things when advocating for fat folks. Safety is important.
What you're talking about is actually a different topic altogether - the previous ask was not about preparing for surgery, it was about dieting being the only treatment option for anon's chronic pain, which was exacerbating their ed symptoms. Diets have been proven over and over again to be unsustainable (and are the leading predictor of eating disorders). So yeah, I felt that it was an inappropriate prescription informed more by bias than actual data.
(And side note: This study on chronic pain and obesity concluded that weight change was not associated with changes of pain intensity.)
If you want to discuss the risk factor for surgery, sure, I think that's an important thing to know - however, most fat people already know this and are informed by their doctors and surgeons of what the risks are beforehand, so I'm not really concerned about people being uninformed about it.
I'm a fat liberation activist, and what I'm concerned about is bias. I'm concerned that there are so many BMI cutoffs in essential surgeries for fat patients, when weight loss is hardly feasible, that creates a barrier to care that disproportionately affects marginalized people with intersecting identities.
It's also important to know that we have very little data around the outcomes of surgery for fat folks that isn't bariatric weight loss surgery.
A new systematic review by researchers in Sydney, Australia, published in the journal Clinical Obesity, suggests that weight loss diets before elective surgery are ineffective in reducing postoperative complications.
CADTH Health Technology Review Body Mass Index as a Measure of Obesity and Cut-Off for Surgical Eligibility made a similar conclusion:
Most studies either found discrepancies between BMI and other measurements or concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support BMI cut-offs for surgical eligibility. The sources explicitly reporting ethical issues related to the use of BMI as a measure of obesity or cut-off for surgical eligibility described concerns around stigma, bias (particularly for racialized peoples), and the potential to create or exacerbate disparities in health care access.
Nicholas Giori MD, PhD Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Stanford University, a respected leader in TKA and THA shared his thoughts in Elective Surgery in Adult Patients with Excess Weight: Can Preoperative Dietary Interventions Improve Surgical Outcomes? A Systematic Review:
“Obesity is not reversible for most patients. Outpatient weight reduction programs average only 8% body weight loss [1, 10, 29]. Eight percent of patients denied surgery for high BMI eventually reach the BMI cutoff and have total joint arthroplasty [28]. Without a reliable pathway for weight loss, we shouldn’t categorically withhold an operation that improves pain and function for patients in all BMI classes [3, 14, 16] to avoid a risk that is comparable to other risks we routinely accept.
It is not clear that weight reduction prior to surgery reduces risk. Most studies on this topic involve dramatic weight loss from bariatric surgery and have had mixed results [13, 19, 21, 22, 24, 27]. Moderate non-surgical weight loss has thus-far not been shown to affect risk [12]. Though hard BMI cutoffs are well-intended, currently-used BMI cutoffs nearly have the effect of arbitrarily rationing care without medical justification. This is because BMI does not strongly predict complications. It is troubling that the effects are actually not arbitrary, but disproportionately affect minorities, women and patients in low socioeconomic classes. I believe that the decision to proceed with surgery should be based on traditional shared-decision making between the patient and surgeon. Different patients and different surgeons have different tolerances to risk and reward. Giving patients and surgeons freedom to determine the balance that is right for them is, in my opinion, the right way to proceed.”
I agree with Dr. Giori on this. And I absolutely do not judge anyone who chooses to lose weight prior to a surgery. It's upsetting that it is the only option right now for things like safe anesthesia. Unfortunately, patients with a history of disordered eating (which is a significant percentage of fat people!) are left out of the conversation. There is certainly risk involved in either option and it sucks. I am always open to nuanced discussion, and the one thing I remain firm in is that weight loss is not the answer long-term. We should be looking for other solutions in treating fat patients and studying how to make surgery safer. A lot of this could be solved with more comprehensive training and new medical developments instead of continuously trying to make fat people less fat.

DETAILS ABOUT SOME OF MY DC DR'S ! ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡
Tumblr media
Hi luvs! I'll admit I've started writing more DC scripts even though I will only be talking about 3. Initially, I had 3 Batfamily DRs, but I added 2 more, so now there are 5. I still have just 1 Teen Titans DR and 1 Young Justice DR, but I also made another DC script with Wonder Woman as my amazing mama, bringing the total to 8. Does that make sense? LMFAO MOVING ON! I Hope you enjoy this post!
⋆⛧┈┈┈┈﹤୨♡୧﹥ ┈┈┈┈⛧⋆
FIRST BATFAMILY DR ♡ //
OKAY, so I already briefly mentioned this in my other post, BUT in this DR (Desired Reality), I’m a vigilante being raised by my aunt. My parents, who were brilliant and successful scientists, tragically passed away in a lab explosion caused by an experiment gone wrong. They had been working on a groundbreaking (and dangerous) project, and their deaths were tied to its failure.
My aunt, who wasn’t particularly close with my parents, became my guardian because she was my only living family member and didn’t want me to end up in the foster system or an orphanage—she knew how tough those places could be. She’s an incredible person: highly skilled in martial arts, hacking, and technology. She also has a long-standing connection with Bruce Wayne (Batman). They became friends when she attended university in Gotham at 18, where she met him. She lived in Gotham until she turned 29, then moved to the outskirts of Alaska for a quieter life but stayed in contact with him. She even helped him track down villains in her spare time.
Growing up in Alaska, my aunt trained me rigorously in 10 different martial arts styles, starting when I was very young. She wanted to ensure I could protect myself. However, when I turned 15, everything changed.
I was bitten by a genetically modified, radioactive hybrid creature—a bizarre fusion of traits from various insects, animals, and plants. This hybrid wasn’t from our universe; it came from an alternate dimension. It originated from a different version of Lex Luthor, who had created the hybrid as part of an experiment to grant himself immense power by being bitten by it. However, during a test run, his device malfunctioned, creating a ripple across multiple universes. This accident transported objects and beings from his dimension into our main DC Universe—including the hybrid creature and Lex himself.
Unluckily for me, the hybrid creature bit me instead of him, granting me powers and putting a huge target on my back. Once Lex and his allies—the other beings brought into this universe—realized I had inherited the powers meant for him, they began hunting me down. This put both me and my aunt in immediate danger.
As their attacks intensified, my aunt made the difficult decision to send me to Gotham to stay with Bruce Wayne for protection. She couldn’t come with me because she needed to stay in Alaska to divert attention away from me and keep the threats occupied. She also wanted to use her hacking and tech skills to gather intel on the alternate Lex and his plans.
At the time, I was super confused—like, who even is Bruce Wayne, and why am I being sent to live with him of all people? Eventually, I found out his secret: he’s Batman!
For my DR self, I took inspiration from Peter Parker, Black Widow, and Miles Morales. With the powers I gained from the hybrid bite, I became a one-of-a-kind vigilante. The hybrid creature that bit me was a crazy combination of:
Scorpions
Deathstalker Scorpion (Leiurus quinquestriatus)
Indian Red Scorpion (Hottentotta tamulus)
Arabian Fat-tailed Scorpion (Androctonus crassicauda)
Yellow Fat-tailed Scorpion (Androctonus australis)
Striped Bark Scorpion (Centruroides vittatus)
Venomous Spiders
Black Widow Spider (Latrodectus species)
Darwin's Bark Spider (Caerostris darwini)
Brazilian Wandering Spider (Phoneutria fera and P. nigriventer)
Funnel Web Spider (Atrax and Hadronyche species)
Sydney Funnel-web Spider (Atrax robustus)
Brown Recluse Spider (Loxosceles reclusa)
Redback Spider (Latrodectus hasselti)
Deadly Insects
Kissing Bug (Triatominae)
Assassin Bug (Reduviidae)
Bullet Ant (Paraponera clavata)
Asian Giant Hornet (Vespa mandarinia)
Harvester Ant (Pogonomyrmex maricopa)
Blister Beetle (Meloidae)
Assassin Caterpillar (Lonomia obliqua)
Tsetse Fly (Glossina species)
Poisonous Plants
Manchineel Tree (Hippomane mancinella)
Peyote (Lophophora williamsii)
Amanita muscaria (Fly Agaric)

yikes right? I know what you're thinking "how tf would you mix all that together to make a hybrid creature" well uhh idk ask lex luther ... (jk i haven't scripted the exact how but i dont gotta worry coz I'm not the one making it lex luther is, whatever my subconscious will take care of it!) it did give me a bunch of cool powers tho lol anyways, living in Gotham, I worked with Bruce and his allies to take down the beings and Lex from the alternate dimension. It was intense—fighting enemies who weren’t just physically powerful but also had technology and strategies far beyond anything we’d seen. Together, we managed to eliminate the threats one by one, ensuring Gotham (and my aunt) was safe again.
When the fight was over, I realized something important: Gotham felt like home. The city was chaotic, dangerous, and dark, but it was also full of people worth protecting. I decided to stay in Gotham, both to continue using my powers for good and to train further under Bruce’s guidance. My aunt supported my decision, knowing I’d found my place in the world.
Now, as a vigilante in Gotham, I use my unique abilities to take on its criminals and threats. Whether it’s dealing with supervillains or protecting innocent people, I’ve found my purpose in this city that never sleeps. PERIODDDDD.
BEING WONDER WOMANS DAUGHTER DR ♡ //
guys my writing here is a little corny and cheesy pls no judging like yes ik ik...
╰(‵□′)╯
Origins and Creation
I was created by Wonder Woman, sculpted from clay by my mother, Diana—the warrior of Themyscira and a beacon of strength, compassion, and justice. Diana sought to give me life in a way that honored both Amazonian traditions and her deep love for humanity. Blessed by the gods, I was infused with extraordinary gifts and destined to be a protector of the world.
While I was being formed, Ares, the God of War, struck with malicious intent. He viewed my creation as a threat to his dominion of chaos and conflict. Diana’s vision of peace and balance, embodied in me, was antithetical to everything Ares desired—a world consumed by war, ruled by the strong, and devoid of harmony. In an act of defiance and vengeance against my mother and the gods who opposed him, Ares cursed me before I could take my first breath.
A bolt of war energy, laced with fury and chaos, struck the clay, embedding a volatile force deep within my soul. This curse was designed to ensure that I would be a weapon of destruction, a pawn of war, and ultimately, a tool Ares could manipulate to spread his influence.
Gifts of the Gods
Despite Ares’ curse, I was still blessed by the gods, each granting me a piece of their power:
Zeus (King of the Gods): I inherited cosmic strength and the power to manipulate storms, granting me the ability to summon thunderstorms, control weather systems, and wield unmatched physical strength. However, this immense power came with the risk of destruction if I lost control.
Athena (Goddess of Wisdom and War): Athena blessed me with tactical genius and the ability to manifest divine weapons. My combat skills became unparalleled, and I gained the ability to analyze every possible outcome in a fight.
Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt): Artemis gifted me perfect precision, foresight in battle, and a connection to nature, allowing me to blend into shadows, anticipate attacks, and command the wild.
Hermes (God of Speed and Communication): Hermes granted me divine reflexes and the ability to manipulate time, enabling me to react faster than the eye could see and navigate complex situations effortlessly.
Aphrodite (Goddess of Love and Beauty): From Aphrodite, I gained the power to heal emotional and physical wounds and a charm that could influence even the most hardened hearts.
Hades (God of the Underworld): Hades bestowed upon me dominion over shadows and the ability to summon the souls of the dead to fight by my side. This power came with a moral weight, forcing me to tread carefully when wielding the forces of death.
These gifts made me a symbol of hope and strength, but Ares’ curse twisted them, amplifying my anger and bloodlust, constantly pulling me toward chaos.
The Curse’s Effects
As I grew, the curse began to manifest subtly. Though my mother taught me to channel my gifts for peace and justice, there was always a storm brewing beneath the surface—a simmering anger I struggled to control. At times, I felt like I was walking a razor’s edge, unsure if I was a protector or a weapon waiting to detonate.
Diana was devastated by Ares’ interference, but she refused to give up on me. She trained me rigorously in combat, strategy, and diplomacy, teaching me not only how to fight but also how to lead with compassion and integrity. My mother believed that my strength lay in resisting the rage within me, using it to protect rather than destroy.
The Awakening of the Curse (Age 15)
On my fifteenth birthday, the curse fully awakened. A sudden surge of anger erupted during a sparring session on Themyscira, and I lost control. A bolt of lightning tore through the sky as my emotions triggered an uncontrollable storm. My strength, amplified by the curse, became a destructive force, and I nearly injured those closest to me.
It was then I realized that the curse wasn’t just a mark of Ares’ malice—it was his way of testing me. The more I resisted, the stronger the pull toward chaos became. This realization terrified me. What if I couldn’t control it? What if I became what Ares wanted me to be—a harbinger of war and destruction?
Ares’ Motivation
Ares’ interference wasn’t just an act of spite. It was calculated. He believed that by corrupting me, he could turn the gods’ blessings into instruments of war, using my powers to shatter the fragile peace my mother fought to protect. He wanted to mold me into his champion—a warrior who could rival even Wonder Woman herself, but loyal only to him.
For Ares, I represented a paradox: the potential for ultimate destruction or the greatest resistance to his reign. By cursing me, he aimed to tilt the scales in his favor, ensuring that the legacy of peace my mother envisioned would never come to fruition.
Ares’ Confrontation (Age 16)
At sixteen, Ares appeared to me for the first time. He offered me control over my rage, promising unimaginable power if I embraced my destiny as his champion. He painted himself as a misunderstood force of nature, arguing that war wasn’t inherently evil but the only true path to strength and freedom.
For a moment, I wavered. The temptation was overwhelming. But my mother’s teachings and unwavering belief in me pulled me back. I rejected Ares’ offer, vowing to fight his influence no matter how powerful he was.
Enraged by my defiance, Ares swore that he would break me, promising to return when I was at my weakest. His presence was a chilling reminder that the battle for my soul was far from over.
The Ongoing Struggle
Every day since, I’ve walked the line between chaos and control. The curse remains a constant shadow, but so does my mother’s guidance. She reminds me that true strength isn’t about overwhelming power—it’s about using that power to protect and uplift others.
I’ve learned to channel my rage into focus, turning the chaos within me into a force for good. The struggle is far from over, but I’m determined to prove that Ares doesn’t define me. My destiny is my own, and with my mother by my side, I’ll continue to fight for a world where peace can prevail—even if it means facing the storm inside me every single day.
(IM SUCH A MAMAS GIRLLL STOP I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET DIANA SHES SO MOTHERRR I LOVE HER)
YOUNG JUSTICE DR ♡ //
OKAY OMG im really excited for this one yall! (acting like im not equally excited for the others lol dont mind me) my inspirations when writing my dr self was wanda maximoff (wifey fr), jean grey, my queen and mother (in this dr too MUAHAHAHA) wonder woman!! GUYS WAIT ALSO i know the start is similar to the top one (AND THIS IS ALSO CORNY ASF) but it gets different towards the end tho trust me!!!! >:(
Origins and Creation
I was created by Wonder Woman, sculpted from clay on the shores of Themyscira, a land where strength, wisdom, and love reign supreme. My mother, Diana, sought to create me as a symbol of hope and balance for a world fraught with chaos. She petitioned the gods to breathe life into me, and they blessed me with their divine gifts, imbuing me with extraordinary power and potential.
But it wasn’t just the gods who noticed my creation. In an unexpected twist of fate, the cosmic Phoenix Force—a primordial entity of rebirth and destruction—was drawn to the spark of life within me. The Phoenix, recognizing my untapped potential, merged a fragment of its essence with my being, granting me unparalleled cosmic abilities.
As if the blessings of the gods and the touch of the Phoenix Force weren’t enough, a surge of Chaos Magic intertwined with my soul. The magic, wild and unpredictable, was not the result of a curse but a mysterious gift bestowed by unknown forces. It made me a conduit of untamed potential, an enigma even to the gods who had helped shape me.
Blessings of the Gods and Goddesses
Each deity granted me a piece of their strength, wisdom, or grace:
Zeus (King of the Gods): Zeus granted me the power of storm manipulation and divine strength. I could summon lightning, create hurricanes, and command the skies with ease. His blessing made me a force of nature, capable of shaping the heavens themselves.
Athena (Goddess of Wisdom and War): Athena bestowed upon me unparalleled intelligence and foresight. I became a master strategist, able to see through deception and outthink my enemies before they even acted.
Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt): From Artemis, I gained an unbreakable bond with nature. Her gift gave me supernatural agility, precision, and an uncanny ability to track and anticipate movement, no matter how subtle.
Hermes (God of Speed and Communication): Hermes’ blessing gifted me with superhuman speed and the ability to travel between realms. With a thought, I could move faster than the eye could see and traverse dimensions with ease.
Aphrodite (Goddess of Love and Beauty): Aphrodite granted me the power of emotional healing and a radiant aura that inspired hope and unity. Her blessing allowed me to calm even the most turbulent hearts.
Hestia (Goddess of the Hearth): Hestia gifted me with the power of fire manipulation, specifically tied to protection and sanctuary. I could summon flames to shield myself and others, creating impenetrable barriers of warmth and light.
Hades (God of the Underworld): Hades gave me dominion over shadows and the ability to commune with spirits. I could summon phantoms to guide or defend me, but only when my intentions were pure.
The Phoenix Force
The Phoenix Force, drawn to the spark of my creation, merged a fragment of its essence with my soul. It gave me cosmic energy manipulation, allowing me to harness raw power capable of creating or destroying entire realities. With this gift came the ability of rebirth, granting me near-immortality and the power to rise stronger from every defeat.
The Phoenix Force also awakened a cosmic awareness within me, letting me see the threads of life and energy that connected all things. However, this connection came at a price—the risk of losing control if I let the power consume me.
Chaos Magic
Chaos Magic flowed through me like an unpredictable current, amplifying all my other powers and allowing me to warp reality itself. I could bend the laws of physics, manipulate probabilities, and reshape the very fabric of existence. But Chaos Magic was as dangerous as it was powerful—it demanded mastery and restraint, for its influence could easily spiral out of control.
This magic made me a nexus of possibility and uncertainty, a being who could defy even the gods' will if I chose.
The Trials of Power
Growing up, my powers were both a blessing and a burden. My mother taught me discipline, balance, and the importance of humility. She guided me through rigorous training, not just in combat but in understanding the weight of my abilities.
At times, I felt overwhelmed. The Phoenix Force burned within me, urging me to transcend the boundaries of my mortal form. The Chaos Magic crackled unpredictably, threatening to tear through reality if I didn’t keep it in check. Even the gods’ blessings occasionally clashed, creating moments of inner turmoil.
But through it all, my mother stood by me. Diana reminded me that strength wasn’t just about power—it was about control, compassion, and the courage to do what was right, even when it was difficult.
Joining Young Justice: My Story
By the time I turned 15, life on Themyscira felt... too serene. Don’t get me wrong—I loved the island, the sisters who raised me, and, of course, my mother, Diana. But there was always this feeling deep inside me, like a storm brewing beneath calm waters. I knew my gifts weren’t meant to stay confined to our shores. I was meant to do something more, something that mattered beyond the safety of paradise.
The turning point came when I joined my mother on a mission with the Justice League. It was supposed to be a simple diplomatic endeavor—convincing world leaders to work together in the wake of rising tensions. Of course, things didn’t go as planned. A rogue faction threatened to level the city, and the League stepped in to stop them. I wasn’t meant to fight, but when the chaos escalated, I couldn’t stand by.
The First Step
I remember the moment like it was yesterday. Buildings were collapsing, people screaming, and the air thick with smoke. My mother told me to stay back, but something inside me refused. The Phoenix Force burned bright within me, and the Chaos Magic surged, itching to be unleashed. Before I knew it, I was in the thick of the battle, shielding civilians, pulling people from rubble, and using my powers to stabilize collapsing structures.
The Justice League noticed. Batman gave me that sharp, scrutinizing look of his; Superman smiled with approval. But it was Kaldur—Aqualad—who approached me afterward.
“You have a gift,” he said. “But gifts like yours need guidance and focus. Have you ever considered joining a team?”
At first, I hesitated. “I’m not sure I belong on a team."
“We all are,” he replied. “But Young Justice could use someone like you.”
Why I Said Yes
The idea stuck with me for days. My mother wasn’t thrilled about it. She worried about the dangers, about how my powers—especially the Phoenix Force—might overwhelm me in high-stakes situations. But she also saw the fire in me, the need to step into the world and make a difference.
“You’re my daughter, Astraea,” she said, placing her hands on my shoulders. “And I see so much of myself in you. But remember, with power like yours comes responsibility. If this is what you want, I’ll support you—but promise me you’ll stay true to who you are.”
I promised.
Joining Young Justice
When I first walked into the team’s headquarters, I was nervous. These were the protégés of legends—Robin, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Superboy, and the others. But they weren’t what I expected. They were flawed, funny, and just as unsure of themselves as I was.
The first few missions weren’t easy. I had to learn to work as part of a team, to trust others with their strengths while managing the chaos inside me. The Phoenix Force was a blessing and a curse; its overwhelming power made me a powerhouse in battle, but it also drew attention—from enemies who wanted to harness it and from my teammates, who sometimes looked at me with fear.
It was Miss Martian who helped me the most. She understood what it meant to carry immense power and to fear losing control. Through her guidance, I learned to balance the Phoenix Force with the divine gifts from the gods and the unpredictable nature of Chaos Magic.
My Mission
I am a child of gods, cosmic forces, and wild magic, but more importantly, I am my mother’s daughter. Diana created me to be a protector, a beacon of hope, and a bridge between worlds. I carry the wisdom of the gods, the fire of the Phoenix, and the untamed potential of Chaos Magic.
My mission is to use my gifts to bring balance to a fractured world, to heal its wounds, and to protect those who cannot protect themselves. The path ahead is fraught with challenges, and the temptation to lose myself in the chaos is ever-present.
But I will not falter. I am not just a vessel for power—I am the wielder. And no force, no matter how wild or destructive, will define me.
EEEEKKK HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY NOT SO LITTLE RANT ABOUT SOME OF MY DC DRS !! and again yes i know some parts are corny and cheesy BUT WHOO CARESSS HAVE FUN JESUS ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ ALSO IF YOU'RE ALSO A DC SHIFTER PLS TELL ME I WANNA BE FRIENDSSS GOD PLSSS

more incredible reporting from the bbc
Mr Ma's downfall had preceded a broader crackdown on China's tech industry.
Companies came to face much tighter enforcement of data security and competition rules, as well as state control over important digital assets.
Other companies across the private sector, ranging from education to real estate, also ended up being targeted in what came to be known as the "common prosperity" campaign.
The measures put in place by the common prosperity policies were seen by some as a way to rein in the billionaire owners of some of China's biggest companies, to instead give customers and workers more of a say in how firms operate and distribute their earnings.
enforcing laws is a crackdown apparently
Instead of a return to an era of unregulated growth, some analysts believe Monday's meeting signalled an attempt to steer investors and businesses toward Mr Xi's national priorities.
The Chinese president has been increasingly emphasising policies that the government has referred to as "high-quality development" and "new productive forces".
Such ideas have been used to reflect a switch from what were previously fast drivers of growth, such as property and infrastructure investment, towards high-end industries such as semiconductors, clean energy and AI.
The goal is to achieve "socialist modernisation" by 2035 - higher living standards for everyone, and an economy driven by advanced manufacturing and less reliant on imports of foreign technology.
Mr Xi knows that to get there he will need the private sector fully on board.
"Rather than marking the end of tech sector scrutiny, [Jack Ma's] reappearance suggests that Beijing is pivoting from crackdowns to controlled engagement," an associate professor at the University of Technology Sydney, Marina Zhang told the BBC.
"While the private sector remains a critical pillar of China's economic ambitions, it must align with national priorities - including self-reliance in key technologies and strategic industries."
