my chnt swap AU will now be called
camp this and that
idea originally provided by @fall3nash2339
all info about characters+ art links under cut😋😋!!
(NEWWER DESIGNS WILL COME SOON, ALL OF THESE ARE FROM A SLIGHTLY OUTDATED STYLE)
Edit: erm. All of this is so outdated cause I half abandoned it, it still spins around my cranium once a blue moon though
all the characters have the same physical appearance (except for sydney), personalities and roles are changed
the nurses~
head nurse: Elijah Volkov, he makes all the announcements, and is mentally decaying. Boy oh boy, is he quite the man. Silly little bpd man, collected mental illness like Pokémon. But he's caring, and will do just about anything in his power to help the campers out when needed. He has a knack for elephants, likes sharing fun facts, not only about elephants but anything and everything. No filter😋 if he's thinking it, he'll say it, obviously nothing bad will come of that. Trust issues, yummy.
assistant nurse: Adam Uptin, always carrying snacks with him, he can get you to share how your parents wronged you then shove a bag of skittles in your hand and walk away. Adam isn't a fan of leaving the nurses cabin, let alone his side office, something about being a vampire and ""ahhhh the suns"",,etc etc. Although, you can lore him outside with some sunscreen, an umbrella, and an apple.
camp counselors (all camps stay the same)
Cabin Dung Beetle: Juniper Sloan. long neck, dirty blonde. British man, he's scared of the water (blah blah blah "i'm experiencing the past, present, and future all at once and i can't breathe." yadda yadda yadda) besides the meltdowns and break downs, he's pretty silly
Cabin Grasshopper : Marisol Yuchengco, 👁️dresses in gothic attire, but she's one of the most understating counselors you'll ever meet. Salem de La Marnierre, 👁️scene kid vibes, lowkey really chill though. The two are dating<3 (basically just the same as chnt, just,,, ya'know,, swapped.)
Cabin Magpie Moth: Rowan Chow, the goofiest mother fucker in the entire camp. He can actually produce sound effects, he doesnt choose them or when they happen, that's up to the universe, they just come from his general area. This man runs off of actual cartoon logic, dont question it.<3
Cabin Silkworm: Yvonne Marley, femcel. That is truly all i have to say about her. She pull's misinformation straight from the internet and spreads it like mold on moist bread. Joshua MacHeath, tictok eboy, he can make a killer flower necklace though. Joshua will sit with the kids who can't/won't participate in certain camp activities and teach them how to make bracelets out of, well, anything and everything!
Cabin Tarantula Hawk: Lucille Bertuccelli,👁️ she's an older counselor, a sweetheart though. Not only does she keep cabin tarantula hawk up am running, but she also is in charge of the arts and crafts cabin! Gracie Liu (👁️lowkey, i forgot gracie liu existed, so all of her color are just inverted. no matter how you picture her in ur brain, just invert the colors)
Cabin Ladybug : Soren Baltimore, 👁️a bit of a quiet lad, it wears a cape given to it by fennel. soren wears pants that are cover completely in pockets, those pockets are practically infinite, anything you can imagine, soren has it in its pockets. Fennel Marlborough, 👁️our favorite camp taxidermist (don't tell anyone) they have the art of life preservation down to a tea, now if they can only get em to start moving again. soren and fennel are tightly nit, they made up two languages, one between only them and the other for the entire cabin.
Cabin Widow-spider: Matthew Napoleon, 👁️he is the void, don't be scared of him just based on looks though. Matthew will teach you about things you thought you knew (you didn't). Because matthew cant actually talk, due to all that void, he communicates in a fun mixture of sign language, charades, and various static esc noises. Matthew is also involved, if not running, most water based activities (and sometimes juno+mila helps out around the cabin)
the cafeteria: Mila Alcorn 👁️and Juno Matsouka, 👁️i say "and" instead of giving the two separate descriptions because they are inseparable, trust me, i've tried. these two fish folk work together in the kitchen to provide food for all the campers at camp this and that. Practically gourmet chefs, these two are quite creative. Even though there's two of them, you'll never have to worry about chaos in the kitchen, mila and juno always compromise with each other, causing for some never before tasted flavors
special doodads
head of camp: Warren Earthman,👁️ he's a, stern, tired, grumpy, old man. also the walls in are covered with different brands and types of chainsaws. beside the threatening aspects of him, he also openly picks favorites and doesn't listen to anything that doesn't openly concern him or the government.
the rot: Sydney October Sargent, a weird rotting man who lives in the woods surrounding the camp. Don't get to close to him without a gas mask, please, the spores that emanate off of him are damn near hallucinogenic. Besides the skin falling off his bones, the various species of bugs living within him, and all the mushrooms/fungus living from his decomposing self, he's almost harmless. I mean, he's in shambles, a corpse who just won't let go, just try not to breathe near him.
Martime: Jedidiah A.M. Martime, a man who keep appearing in my dreams, I don't have dreams often, why is here, in color no less. this annoying, clock obsessed, not even real, man keeps trying to tell me that he's "here for you," and "it's ok, you can take a brake, you have enough time." what that man needs to do is pipe down and accept the fact he doesn't even exist in the physical plane.

Guilty Wank - DoL
With all my DoL stories, I will be changing school to university, and the orphanage will just be an apartment complex with Bailey being your landlord instead of caretaker.
All characters in this one have he/him pronouns and male genitalia.
Reader characteristics not specified
TW - I mean, you read the title what do you expect?
Bailey The Landlord:
God fucking damnit how dare you try that shit again! It's not the first time you'd come into his office in the early hours of the morning asking for an extension on your rent. He couldn't tell if you were faking your innocence as part of an act to get him to lower his guard or if you really were that fucking naïve. whatever it was, it was really pissing him off. Especially that little sway of your hips as you left, and just how well your outfit clung to you showing off your body just right. Yeah.. it was on purpose he decided, and he wasn't going to let you get the better of him. He wouldn't succumb to your little tricks. At least not sober anyway.. Bailey wasn't one to lose himself under the influence but it had been a long and tiresome day, and after a few shots of whiskey he found himself pulling his cock out with thoughts of you on his mind.
Darryl:
God he felt just awful about the thoughts invading his mind. He wanted to stop, he really did, but the relief that came from his groin after releasing it told him he was much too far gone now. Darryl thought he'd never feel this way given his experiences and that the feelings he had for you were only temporary, but seeing you all dressed up in your work gear had him crumbling. He knew you had to wear what you did to make a living in this line of work but part of him hoped you wore what you did just for him. He finished up rather quickly once his mind turned to how you would look at him when he was having trouble. Full of care and sympathy he'd never seen from anyone in this hellhole of a town. Ironic that the one person who didn't seem to want to cause him any harm was the one he wanted to hurt him the most.
Eden The Hunter
Eden didn't really jack off anymore after he kidnapped/ found you, and if he did, he certainly didn't feel guilty about it. You were his after all. But there was one memory he had of you that made his whole body shiver whenever it popped into his mind.
He'd found you one day lying almost cold out in the woods, your clothes had all been torn up and you were in such a horrendous state, unable to move or even speak.
He loved it.
He loved the vulnerability, how pathetic you looked and how you were at his complete mercy. It took him months to nurse you back to full health and you were never quite the same after.
You never told him what happened to you, just saying it was one of the worst experiences you've ever had to live through, and that is saying something. That's where the guilt came in. He loved you so much that it hurt him, and knowing that you had suffered at the mercy of this city set him ablaze, but deep down, a horrid little part of him couldn't deny how much he enjoyed it and almost hoped it would happen again.
Kylar The Loner
On some level he knew he was in the wrong but on the other he couldn't bring himself to care enough to stop. With one hand grasped around his cock, your panties providing a delightful friction, and the other holding your sheets to his nose, Kylar was lost to the world and could only focus on how perfect you'd look on his cock instead of your used underwear.
Sydney The Faithful
Darn you. Hand holding? In public!? And you did it so casually too. Like you had no shame, unlike him who refused to even acknowledge the growing strain between his legs. He was grateful the library was so quiet and no one was around to hear his soft moans and whimpers every time he moved and readjusted his increasingly tight pants. Every so often he'd rock back and forth to provide some relief but evidently that only made it worse given how good it felt. Poor Sydney just has to deal with it trying to think of anything else besides how soft your hands felt and how perfectly they fit into his own… hopefully class won't start anytime soon and he can calm himself down before he has to go anywhere..
Whitney The Bully
Whitney didn't feel guilty for anything so he sure as shit won't feel guilty when you come to mind as he's taking care of himself.
No it's not guilt he feels when he thinks of how perfect your face scrunches up at his rude comments, or how pathetic you look groveling at his heels.
It's not guilt he feels when he thinks of how cute you look standing under his umbrella shivering from the cold rain that sticks to your clothes.
It's not guilt he feels when he thinks how nice it would be to see you again.
It's not guilt.. but he does feel something.. he just doesn't know what it is.
The wank session comes to a stop as he realizes he's not in the mood anymore and he just lays there thinking of you. That makes him angry. Angry at you for having interrupted his personal time and leaving him frustrated. A crime that he will not allow to go unpunished. Next time he sees you he's going to make you suffer and take out all his pent up frustration.

Dating Sydney and Tatum would include~
(Not my gif)(Requested by anonymous)
- In a perfect world, Sydney and Tatum would have dated each other instead of galivanting around with their murderous lavender marriage boyfriends, so it's really not that hard to imagine them in a poly relationship.
- They’re likely already dating by the time you come into the picture, and you might also be dating someone as well; whether that someone is a girl or a boy. Regardless of their gender, Tatum and Sydney undoubtedly annoy the shit out of them, mainly because he/she immediately picks up on the fact that your overly supportive best friends are definitely into you and have ulterior motives; i.e. making you their unicorn.
- Though Sydney respects your current relationship; Tatum not so much, they both have a tendency to accidentally upstage your gf/bf in every given scenario. They’re out the door the minute you call to ask for a ride, they’re the ones that take you to the hospital/nurses office whenever you’re hurt, they make plans with you before your partner even knows you’re free, they buy you the exact birthday present you were hoping for instead of the generic jewelry your partner gets you, etc, etc, etc.
- Though you don’t believe they’re purposefully trying to meddle in your relationship, you can see why your gf/bf would be annoyed by them. You’re not blind to the fact that the two girls take up a lot of your time, that they can be a little pushy and that they make themselves; a little too, comfortable in your day to day life. When you go on double dates, it feels more like your partner is third wheeling. When you’re hanging out alone with your gf/bf, they have a tendency to crash your plans. When you’re spending time with Tatum, she has a tendency to jokingly flirt with and/or tease you about your partner.
- And though it might be easier to play dumb or shift the blame to someone else, you’re also not blind to the fact that you allow them to hog you. You know that you should set more boundaries with them, but you just don’t have it in you. You don’t want things to change between the three of you: you don’t want to spend less time with them, you don’t want to tell them to stop caring about you so much, you don’t want Tatum to stop being affectionate with you, you don’t want any of it.
- So when your partner inevitably gives you the foreseeable ultimatum; choosing between them and your two best friends, your choice is easy. You choose the same thing in every timeline, in every lifetime, in every universe. You choose your girls.
- Living in a small town means never being away from prying eyes. This concept usually pertains to nosey neighbors, but since both of your girlfriends are involved in an ongoing murder case, not only do you have to worry about judgemental Woodsboro citizens, you also have to worry about parasitic and invasive journalists. None of you want your sexualities blasted across a million different tabloids and newspaper articles, so you try to keep your relationship a bit of a secret….
- That doesn’t stop Tatum from being clingy, walking around with her arms around both of your shoulders/waists or holding your hands; she’d definitely be the reason for any rumors that spread about the three of you. Sydney is naturally less affectionate. She’s not cold, she’s just not prone to constantly touching you like Tatum is. Because of this, whenever she boldly grabs you and/or Tatum it always catches the two of you off guard.
- The three of you typically stick to pecks on the lips whenever you want to kiss each other. It’s not because you like them best, but because both of your girlfriends wear makeup and you don't want to deal with pesky lipstick stains while you’re trying to go about your day.
- Kisses with Tatum get a bit steamy: they usually end up as makeout sessions that are passionate, and slow, and lingering. Sydney’s kisses are a little more inexperienced: she’s not totally virginal but she has a tendency to be more chaste, kissing you sweetly and sometimes a little clumsily. She has more of a “time and place” mindset, so she’s less likely to engage in the risky kisses that Tatum likes to engage in; i.e. kissing you in places where people can easily walk in on or see you.
- Cuddle piles and cat naps. Tatum sleeps on her back with her head on your arm and Sydney sleeps on her stomach literally on top of the two of you; though things can occasionally change depending on the amount of bed space.
- One of your girlfriends has an entire extra bed in her bedroom and the other has the house to herself nearly every other week, so weekly sleepovers have become sort of become routine for the three of you. You go to each other’s houses so often that it practically feels like you’re living with each other.
- They take turns sitting in your lap whenever it’s unoccupied. A lot of the time, the three of you sit together in a big jumble of limbs: someone’s leg on someone else’s, head on another persons shoulder, hand on someone’s thigh, etc. Sometimes it’s hard to tell where one girlfriend starts and another one ends.
- Tatum uses pet names constantly. Sometimes it’s just because while other times she does it with the express purpose of annoying you. She’s the type of girl who constantly calls you babe, but also exaggeratedly calls you snookums or pumpkin just to see you roll your eyes. Sydney might throw a “honey” in here or there but she usually just calls you by your given name or a shortened version of it. Tatum loves getting called pet names while Sydney simply doesn’t mind.
- Affectionate abuse. Tatum has a habit of punching people she likes.
- Tatum loves dragging you around for childish fun: toy shops, carnivals, trips down nostalgia lane. She wants to play mermaids in the pool, she wants to have water fights, wants to watch Disney movies, wants to play dress up, wants to spend five dollars getting gumball machine toys, etc. It’s hard not to indulge her when she gets so earnestly excited about something.
- You have an extrovert and an introvert to choose from in literally any situation that you find yourself in. While Tatum; the extrovert, will undoubtedly try to drag you to any party that she can, Sydney will prefer to just stay at home, favoring a quiet night on her couch over a loud and oftentimes obnoxious beer bash. That being said: both of you are suckers for Tatum’s puppy eyes and “for me?”’s.
- Tv/movie dates with Sydney. Whenever she’s home alone and Tatum isn’t free, you always come over with some new rentals and snacks, settling down on her couch and tuning in to whatever you’re in the mood to watch.
- Going shopping together; regardless of what you’re actually shopping for. Doesn’t matter if it’s a three minute grab and go kind of trip to the convenience store or an hour long errand run, they always insist on coming with you and they’re always in a good mood whenever they do; no pointed sighs or eye rolls in sight.
- Sydney has a green thumb while Tatum can’t keep flowers alive to save her life, so you can make things easy for yourself and get Tatum a bouquet and Sydney a potted plant whenever anniversary’s or special occasions roll around.
- Getting matching stuffed animals.
- Sharing clothes. Both your girlfriends have a collection of clothing that ranges from comfortably oversized to purposefully tight, so you can easily borrow things out of their closets whenever you happen to stay the night. On that same note: don't be surprised if you find some of your own clothing stolen and sitting in one of their dresser drawers after they come over for a visit.
- Always going to the bathroom together. Though your inseparable nature makes the three of you act like magnets no matter where you go, public bathrooms make your buddy system work overtime. Doesn’t matter if one of you just needs to pee or fix your hair really quickly; something that would take you minutes to do on your own, you all end up in front of a mirror or in a stall regardless of who initiated the impromptu break.
- Sydney always remembers the things that you talk about, and she’ll go out of her way to buy you whatever she remembers you telling them about. You mentioned that new movie so I rented it, I saw these snacks and thought of you, that book you were talking about was at the bookstore so I grabbed it for you, etc. It’s kind of her love language.
- Tatum always knows the latest gossip that’s going around town and can talk your ear off about a million different rumors all at once. She loves hearing the tea so feel free to spill it to her whenever you want.
- Tatum driving all of you around.
- Sydney burns CDs/makes mixtapes for the three of you.
- Sydney likes nature walks/walks around the neighborhood, and since Tatum isn't much of a hiker, she'd love for you to join her whenever you felt like it.
- Your cycles probably link up, but you’re likely the only one who has an actual reaction to them. Sydney gives off the vibes of those girls who run marathons while on their period and Tatum gives off the vibes of a girl who has three days of light bleeding with little to no cramping. Regardless, they’ll laze around with you and/or take care of you if your period is particularly bad.
- Sydney is a little more minimalistic so while Tatum definitely has picture after picture of you plastered on her locker and/or on her bedroom walls, it’s easy to miss. It feels more sentimental when you look at Sidney’s locker and see just a picture of you and Tatum hanging up or when you look at her bedside/computer desk and see a framed photo of the three of you.
- Realistically, all three of you collect a number of scars over the years; whether ghostface related or not, so you all have to learn to love them as much as you love the person attached to them. Tatum calls scars “bitchin’”, keeping the mood light and humorous even in the worst situations, and Sydney kisses or thumbs over them apologetically or just plain sweetly whenever she can.
- You could probably gather it from the meeting scenario but the two of them are the epitome of ‘ride or die’. They always show up the minute something happens, always ready to comfort you, support you, stand up for you, etc. Tatum’s had practice with Sydney, and Sydney’s had firsthand experience so she knows what a person might want/need while going through trauma/hardship.
- Tatums family is naturally really supportive: they’re the type of family who sees nothing wrong with the three of you dating from the start. Sydney’s dad is supportive as well: partly because he’s not willing to lose the last of his family over something so trivial and partly because his daughter can’t get knocked up by a girl so it’s actually kind of a win for him. If your parents weren’t supportive, the Riley’s would let you stay with them and you’d take up residence in the spare bed in Tatums room.
- Tatum has a bit of a jealousy streak. She’s much more confrontational with you, more passive aggressive, and more quick to meanly tell people to buzz off whenever they’re getting on her nerves. Sydney is usually a little more subdued: a little more understanding and/or insecure in comparison. Sydney will be the one to casually bust you out of an awkward situation or genuinely ask you if you like someone else; to which Tatum usually responds with “of course she doesn’t, have you seen them”.
- Tatum is definitely more bark than bite while Sydney is more bite than bark. They’re both very protective of you, with Tatum being quick to interject, insult, and accuse people, while Sydney hangs back and glares dagger at whoever they’re upset with; and maybe throws a punch. That being said, they love when you stand up for yourself, always making a point of praising and reassuring you whenever you do.
- Tag teaming protecting Sydney and keeping her away from any nonsense; you and Tatum both take turns being her body guard. On that same note: Tatum probably preemptively signs you up for self defense classes and drags you to them after school. You’d honestly think that Tatum was the older sibling in her family with the way that she acts.
- Speaking of family: you’ve sort of got the whole police force on your side if you happen to have any serious issues. ACAB doesn’t include deputy Dewey.
- You guys really don’t fight very often: you’re all just very understanding of each other. Tatums a bit of a firecracker but she cools just as quickly and she apologizes whenever she has a bit of a bitchfit. Neither of them mean to ruin things and they feel really guilty when they act irrationally. It’s why you try your best to discuss things like grownups and ditch the immaturity.
- They’re both quick to apologize whenever they’re in the wrong and they’re also quick to accept apologies whenever you’re in the wrong so things gets resolved pretty easily.
- Tatum says “I love you” very easily and very often while Sydney usually says it in response to someone else saying it or waits for special moments to say it herself.
- The three of you have been through so much and love each other so much that none of you can imagine a life where you’re not all together. No matter where you go or what you do, you’re doing it hand in hand….

Just finished re-listening to ch&t for the third time and here are some things that I noticed !!!
Major spoilers obviously
I noticed something that actually adds more credibility to my limn theory!! (for anyone who doesn't know what my limn theory is, it's a theory that the phenomenon known as "the limn" is what caused the sky to change color, everyone's memories to be all weird, and all the other weird stuff that happens in the ch&t universe, and that it was caused by the resurrection of Sydney.) In The Eggs of a Basket Case, Elijah says this:
"Life itself was blessed by your rebirth"-- This, to me, implies that his resurrection was what caused the universe to, well, turn upside-down.
Also, another thing that kind of supports this was something he said in The Basket Case of the Nurse's Building:
Maybe I'm reading too deep into this but I feel like him saying "no more apocalypse" is him saying that if he, ahem, finished what Jedidiah started and killed Sydney, the apocalypse would end and the affects of the limn would reverse? I.... don't think that's how that works, but Elijah has a very flawed way of thinking overall. So. You know. But it still supports my theory! Yay!
Next thing, this line from The Clock of Meantime really caught my eye:
It seemed random to me on the first two listens, but now I think I know why he said this.
In The Muse of the Elephant, Elijah reads this line from Jedidiah's journal:
I think this ritual was kind of a "test" of the resurrection ritual. I think he wanted to try it out on a pig first before using it on Sydney, in case anything went wrong. Later in the episode, Jedidiah describes being horrified and disgusted by what he'd done, so it makes sense that he might've formed a bad association with pigs, therefore not being able to eat pork anymore. IM LOWKEY SO PROUD OF MYSELF FOR THINKING OF THIS LOL
Last thing (I think), why did it take me SO LONG to realize that in this scene in The Meantime With Eggs, Adam is describing the caves under camp?
What he describes sounds a lot like an overgrown cave, which is what the underground tunnel system is. The mention of the hospital bed seems to be a reference to the nurse's building, the caves being under the camp (which includes the nurse's building). And the short, stiff feather is probably hinting at the penguins. WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO REALZIE THIS??? IT FEELS SO OBVIOUS NOW??????
Aaaanyway I think that's all. I feel like I'm missing something, but if I remember anything I'll add onto this later.

The NCIS team gets a very unwanted blast from the past in the latest episode. But that’s not the only familiar name: McGee (Sean Murray), thanks to Kasie (Diona Reasonover), gets help from some friends with his twins’ school fundraiser.
The team investigates the murder of a lieutenant who intervened after a man held up a nurse in a mobile blood bank; though he destroyed all the blood bags there, they discover he stole one, and the remains of the donor, Lauren, are then found being dissolved in acid. (It’s as gross as it sounds.) Furthermore, her house has been completely wiped clean — fingerprints, hair, anything with her DNA. A neighbor saw her arguing with a man just before her time of death.
Lauren just started a new job at a health startup, Life Sequence, which studies how a person’s DNA affects nutritional needs. As Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) points out, Gibbs’ rule 39: There’s no such thing as coincidences. The company uses sequencers (bands around wrists) to track clients’ movements and vitals and create a health plan tailored to an individual’s DNA. Right now, they’re in beta testing , with the CEO making an announcement in a few weeks to launch it. And the CEO? Well, he’s a visionary billionaire who sacrificed his dream of going to the moon to start the company. Unfortunately, McGee and Parker (Gary Cole) are right when they realize it’s Fletcher Voss (TJ Thyne, previously seen in the franchise’s 1,000th episode).

Robert Voets/CBS
How is he not in prison for his role in Vance (Rocky Carroll) almost being killed? He never meant for him to be shot, Voss insists. He did hard time, and his three months in prison changed his life. He had to lose everything — emotionally (he made millions selling Bandium) — to realize what’s important, he claims. It’s all thanks to NCIS, he says. But he also claims not to know Lauren … only for them to discover that she was pregnant and he was the father. He’d have to pay his ex-wife millions in their divorce settlement if she found out, so there’s a motive. Vance, more than anyone, doesn’t want to risk him getting away with murder. Then, thanks to some hacking while Torres is undercover as a “perfect specimen,” they’re able to place Voss at Lauren’s when she was killed.
However, once they bring in Voss for questioning, he reveals that he and Lauren were dating and he didn’t know about the pregnancy. His reaction is genuine … and then he collapse after drinking the smoothie he has six times a day. He survives, but someone’s been slowing poisoning him (with warfarin), and Lauren was killed because the same blood thinner was in her system from drinking some of the smoothies; the killer needed to cover that up. Holly made the smoothies and seems to have motive, having created Life Sequence and sold it to Voss. However, Holly reveals that the algorithm and sequencers are all actually lies and don’t work. Voss was still going to go live in two weeks, and that would have brought down the company. So who had motive? Well, his doctor, whose name was on all the (fake) studies, so he’d be seen as a fraud once Voss went live with the program.
Then Voss needs a blood transfusion (after the blood bank was hit), and so McGee, as a universal donor, donates. He then goes to see Voss in the hospital and makes him feel even worse by telling him that it was Vance’s idea. After talking to McGee about being a good dad, Voss then wonders if he’s a good person, too, like the agent, because he’s inside him. McGee, of course, doesn’t want to hear him say that ever again, but Voss keeps going about how they’re connected by blood and blood brothers.
Elsewhere in the episode, McGee enlists the agency to help his twins with a school fundraiser selling coffee: Fire Brew (with habanero), Mocha Mania, and Jitter Joe (has extra jolt). He wants to beat the “cool school dad” Brendan Banks and prove to his twins that he, too, is a cool dad. Kasie goes all in on helping McGee, emailing to their sister offices (no one from the other shows appears or is heard onscreen) and even talking to Michelle Mackey from NCIS: Sydney over the phone to get her order at one point. She also has tallied orders on her board: Mackey (seven Jitter Joe, eight Mocha Mania, five Fire Brew); NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Jane Tennant (three Jitter Joe, five Mocha Mania, two Fire Brew) and Ernie Malik (two Jitter Joe, three Mocha Mania, four Fire Brew); NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Kensi Blye (three Jitter Joe, two Mocha Mania, one Fire Brew) and G. Callen (one Jitter Joe, five Mocha Mania, two Fire Brew), and NCIS: New Orleans‘ Dwayne Pride (three Jitter Joe, two Mocha Mania, one Fire Brew).
Unfortunately, even with all that — and Voss buying 100 bags of Mocha Mania — McGee still come in second, behind Brendan by $300.

Question asking! How would you depict Morph in the X-Men Evolution cartoon? And if you could redo Pyro’s depiction in it, what would you change?
Ooooh, boy, I actually had a vague fanfic type idea awhile back about putting a version of Morph in Evolution. Basically? I'd put him on the Deadly Genesis team.
So, the first team of mutants that Xavier ever recruits is a group of teenagers - Vulcan (I think in this case Xavier does NOT know that he's Scott's brother), Darwin, Petra, Sway, and Changeling. (I'm gonna go with Changeling here rather than Morph.) After a few early missions, he sends them to investigate a mysterious island (Krakoa, of course) that appeared in the Pacific Ocean, while he stays onboard the Blackbird monitoring them. The mission is a disaster. Krakoa lashes out with an enormous blast of energy that appears to kill Vulcan, Darwin, Petra and Sway, as their life readings disappear, and Xavier feels their pain and fear. Changeling, who had shapeshifted wings and was flying above the island to scout it out, is spared the brunt of the blast and is knocked into the ocean, badly injured and apparently the only survivor. Xavier rescues him, and Krakoa sinks back below the waves.
Xavier returns to the mansion with his only surviving student, and nurses him back to health. I want to emphasize, Xavier is absolutely devastated and fucked up over what happened. I think Evo Xavier is kind of a bastard, but like all Xaviers I think he has good intentions. As far as he knows, his X-Men were a complete failure, he failed them, and he led four teenagers to their deaths. When Changeling wakes up, and is determined to go back to the Pacific to search for his missing teammates, even growing wings and physically flying there if necessary, Xavier makes a decision. He has no hope of starting another X-Men team, and he decides that the best possible thing he can do for mutant Kevin Sydney is to protect him - by erasing his memory of the team, and of ever being a mutant. I think Changeling in this universe generally uses a human form similar to Morph's human form in TAS/X-Men 97 as a default, and if the featureless white clay form is his "real" self, he hasn't found it yet. Xavier locks Kevin in human form, suppresses his X-Gene, and sends him back to his parents believing that he was in a terrible car accident at "summer camp," and leaves him to lead a normal life as a "human."
Xavier then spends a few years deeply depressed and not doing much.....until he hears reports of the weather-controlling mutant in Africa. Storm is enough for Xavier to start considering an X-Men team again, and believe that there might be some hope. He tells no one about the original team, it is his deepest shame. In the meantime, Kevin has become a relatively successful actor - not a superstar, but doing pretty well for himself. He's been in a few movies, and by the time Evolution starts, he's starring in a CW sexy vampire drama similar to The Vampire Diaries. For self-indulgent reasons, I'm gonna say that it's a Dark Shadows revival that is actually really good. (Kitty absolutely loves the show, and loves Kevin's character. Rogue is probably into it too, but won't admit it.) Xavier never contacts Kevin or removes the blocks on his memories/powers, convincing himself that it's for the best, Kevin is obviously happy and successful and there's no need to throw his life into chaos. But also, because re-recruiting Changeling would mean telling everyone about the first team - his greatest failure and deepest shame.
Then, at some point after the end of Evolution, Krakoa re-emerges in the Atlantic. I'd say at this point, it's about 10 years after the Deadly Genesis team, so Kevin is in his twenties - not super old, but an adult compared to the Evo teens. Seeing news reports about the island knocks something loose in Kevin's mind, and he starts dreaming about Krakoa, and seeing occasional hallucinations of his old teammates (the kind of quick "blink and you'll miss it" thing where the ghost appears briefly in a mirror or in a crowd that horror movies do before the scares start ramping up.) Maybe he even starts to involuntarily shapeshift while asleep, but assumes that it's part of a dream. Xavier absolutely forbids the team to go anywhere near the mysterious new island, but won't say why.
Meanwhile, someone emerges from the island - it's Vulcan, who went into a deep coma while basically trapped at the center of Krakoa. Vulcan doesn't know exactly what happened or how he survived, but he is pissed. While flying towards Xavier's, he sees a billboard for Awesome Dark Shadows Revival That I Wish Existed, with what appears to be an older version of his teammate Changeling. Taking a quick detour, Vulcan tracks down Kevin and demands to know what happened. Kevin doesn't know what Vulcan is talking about, but realizes that he does recognize him from....somewhere. And at some point while Vulcan is somewhat violently confronting him, Kevin shapeshifts as an instinctive defense, and realizes that this isn't a dream, he is actually changing forms, and is probably a mutant, and there is something very wrong with his memories. Vulcan realizes that Changeling doesn't know what the fuck is going on, and assumes that Xavier must be to blame for this as well (he's right!) and drags Kevin off to confront the Professor.
Once they land at the mansion, a fight naturally breaks out. Vulcan wants Xavier and is willing smack down anyone that gets in his way. Kevin continues to not know what the fuck is going on, but I think he winds up on Team Protect Xavier, because he doesn't want to kill anyone, he just wants some answers. Everyone mistakes him for Mystique at first, and he gets knocked around a bit. I'm imagining Kitty, when she realizes that he is not only NOT Mystique, he is actually Kevin Sydney from All-New All-Different Dark Shadows, she is absolutely appalled that she kicked her favorite actor in the face.
After Vulcan smacks everyone around for a bit, and it seems like he is about to kill Xavier, he suddenly freezes and collapses, and another figure emerges. It's Darwin, who had merged with Vulcan all those years ago in order to allow them both to survive. They both went dormant within Krakoa, but Darwin woke up along with Vulcan when the island returned to the surface. Darwin has been fighting this whole time to stop Vulcan's violent rampage, and finally managed to put him down (for the moment).
Xavier finally explains everything. Everyone is angry. But also, they decide to go back to Krakoa for reasons I haven't decided yet - maybe they are worried about human researchers who are approaching the island, maybe Vulcan wakes up and flies out there, and the team wants to stop him before he starts wrecking shit again. The entire team, including Changeling (with the blocks on his memories and powers now fully removed) and Darwin. I think on the island there will be another fight with Vulcan and maybe with Krakoa itself, but it will stop when the team makes another discovery - it's Petra and Sway. Still alive, because fuck it, they deserve better and in my version of Deadly Genesis they get to live. They are trapped inside a time bubble that Sway instinctively created with her powers the moment the blast hit, and have been basically frozen in stasis this entire time (which is why Xavier couldn't read their life signs.) Xavier has to reach out telepathically to "wake up" Sway and cause her to drop the bubble, freeing both. For Petra and Sway, no time at all has passed, they haven't aged, they don't remember anything about their time in stasis. At this point, seeing all his old teammates still alive, I think Vulcan drops the vendetta (at least temporarily) and flies off into space, still very pissed. How does the team deal with Krakoa itself? I dunno, Xavier puts it to sleep or something.
I'm not sure what happens to the X-Men team after this. They have to reckon with Xavier having done some awful things and kept massive secrets, but unlike comics Deadly Genesis, it turns out no one actually died. Storm and Wolverine would demand to know ALL of Xavier's secrets and threaten to leave if he holds anything back. The kids are probably divided, but lose some respect for him. I think at least one person out of the Petra, Sway and Darwin trio will decide to stay at the mansion. Kevin does not stay - he doesn't want to hurt Xavier, but cannot forgive him for the memory blocks. Kevin also offers to use some of his actor money to help Petra, Sway and Darwin start new lives if they want (I think one of them might take him up on it), and tells the rest of the X-Men that they can call on him if there's a major emergency that requires a shapeshifter, because even if he hates Xavier he likes the rest of the team. The he runs back to Hollywood to stay on sexy CW Dark Shadows. I think he wrestles with whether or not to "come out" as a mutant, now that he knows, because a mutant celebrity might help the cause, but it could also destroy his career.
No Banshees were harmed in this version of Deadly Genesis.
As for the character in general, I think he'd have the same upbeat, kinda sassy personality as TAS/X-Men 97 Morph, but you wouldn't see as much in this story, since it's mostly Changeling getting dragged through the two worst days of his life and dealing with some very confusing memories. He's also not non-binary - at least not yet - but is kinda gender-nonconforming. I think he's probably questioned his own gender a bit, maybe he'd be nonbinary in the future after some soul-searching. I think Morph in TAS can also really hold onto a grudge, and I think Changeling would be the same about Xavier. Like, "I'm not going to attack or hurt you, but I do NOT want to talk to you, and you are NOT forgiven. Your student are cool, though."
As for Pyro - If given a chance, I'd make him a high school teen so he can be part of the Brotherhood the whole time, but I'm not sure how he would fit in, and what his dynamic would be with the rest of the group (or which X-Man would be his official "rival." Maybe he'd cockily keep trying to challenge Storm, just like in the comics.) I think he'd get along well with Boom-Boom during her Brotherhood time. He'd have a massive crush on Avalanche (that he's not very good at hiding) and get very jealous when Lance shows interest in Kitty. I'd like to see him actually have some opinions about mutants and politics rather than just "Hee hee, I like to burn things!" (Although that's fine, too.) His grandmother raised him in Australia, but when she suffered a major health crisis, she sent him to America to live with his deadbeat mother. His mother then kicks him out when he displays mutant powers. His grades are decent when he does the work, but he mostly excels in English and creative writing. He reads a lot, and has a laptop that he is constantly using to write. Mostly fanfic, for now. The best way to piss off St. John is to read his stories without his permission, and I imagine there are some Brotherhood keepaway games with his laptop. When not writing, he's usually playing with fire or looking for some kind of adrenaline rush.
Of course, I'd be satisfied if we just got to spend some time with Evo Acolyte Pyro after he joins the Brotherhood, or whatever their SHIELD team becomes. Just flesh him out more beyond "Laughs at violence, loves fire."
Edit - I just realized that my version of Deadly Genesis makes Vulcan like, several years older than Scott. Which makes no sense for his origins. Eh, don't worry about it. Maybe he got aged up prematurely in a Shiar breeding pod or something. Maybe he's actually Corsair's brother and therefore Scott's uncle. Whatevs.

The Journal
Jaxon Crowley's masterlist
"You are isolated like I am, but you intentionally push others away. And then you wander around in despair all during the night. Do you never notice this cycle?"
Jaxon hated Malleus and how right he was. He knew it was true. All he ever does is shove other people away from him. No one has ever given him a reason not to...but it's been a long time since he's even given anyone a chance.
The delinquent son of the headmage; that's what he's always been. Some people believed getting close to him would give them bonus points in Crowley's book. They thought they'd be able to get away with more if they were with him. Others believed that if they were his friend, no one would mess with them. They would use that friend status to do anything they wanted and thought Jaxon would protect them when trouble came.
All those years, all those people, and not a single one actually cared about him. Eventually, he gave up on the hope that anyone would ever care about him. No one would ever actually care about him, that's what Jaxon fully believed.
Even his own father didn't seem to care much about him. Then again, did he ever? Crowley had given up on him long ago. Time and time again, Jaxon had managed to prove that he was nothing but trouble. He had managed to prove that he wasn't worth the effort, and a lost cause.
But...then why was he saved?
When he overblotted Leona, Kalim, and even that Heastslabyul student were there to save him. Leona cared, but he's never even opened up to Leona about anything. And what reason did the other two even have to care about him? He just couldn't figure it out.
This was way too much for his tired brain to try and figure out. While the collar around his neck was gone, Leona was dead set on making sure Jaxon didn't use his magic on himself to keep him awake. Now he wandered the campus constantly tired and on the verge of falling asleep. He was out for his walk before trying to sleep when he ran into Malleus.
Savanaclaw was much quieter at night. Even on the way to his room, everything was calm and still. It was nice, but he didn't want to be left alone with his thoughts.
Unfortunately for him, the universe loves to throw things at him right when he doesn't want them. This time, it came in the form of a book sitting on the ground by his door. Ordinarily, he would've ignored it. But scrawled in messy handwriting across a paper on the top of it was his name.
Against his better judgement, he picked it up and took a look on the inside of the cover. Upon seeing who it belonged too, he rushed inside his room to read it. It was a name he hasn't seen or heard of in a long time.
'This journal belongs to: Sydney Crowley'
It's his mother's name. This was her journal. Jaxon could only guess that his father dropped this off, but he didn't really care about why right now. All he had to remember his mother by was his memories of her, but this was something physical. This belonged to her.
As soon as he got into his room, he took a seat on his bed and opened it up to start reading.
'It's been a while since I've written in a journal. My old one was even too full to continue writing in, so here I am with a completely new one. I suppose this is symbolism in a way. After all, this is a new chapter of my life so it's only fitting it fills a new book.
Our darling son was born a few weeks ago! It's quite exciting and everything went well in the hospital. Jaxon was born on January 26th at approximately 10:57 at night. Dire was freaking out the entire time. But he was super excited to meet Jaxon.
He wanted to hold Jaxon as soon as he came out, but the nurses let me see him first of course. I wish I could've got a photo of Dire's face when he held Jaxon for the first time. He looked so happy and he even started crying.
Jaxon already looks so much like his father. He's got those golden eyes and pale skin, and he even has the same face shape. The only things he seemed to get from me is the blue hair and round ears. Even as a baby he's already acting like his father; all dramatic and very clingy.
The other day he started crying just because Dire set him down. It was only for a second but Jaxon was so upset and Dire immediately picked him up again. Jaxon just loves his father so much already, it's rare to see them separated anymore. Jaxon doesn't even cry when I set him down.
I can't be upset though. Dire loves Jaxon so much and he's wanted a child of his own for so long that it's only natural they're so attached to each other. It's adorable to see them together all the time.'
Jaxon huffed after reading that passage. The idea that him and his father were close at one point was so foreign and strange to him. And to think that his father wanted a kid...boy he must've been pretty disappointed at what Jaxon turned out to be. Jaxon flipped the page and continued reading without another thought.
'I know it's been a while since I last wrote, but such is the life of a new mother. Things have become more busy since Jaxon was born. Between taking care of him and helping Dire with some things at NRC, I've been quite busy. I'll also admit that I forgot about writing here for a while.
Jaxon turned 2 years old today. He's learned some of his basic needs and even said his first word not too long ago. While he doesn't speak or use his voice often, he's quite adorable when he does.
I have a video on my phone of Dire putting Jaxon down only for Jaxon to start making grabby hands at him and want up. It was so adorable and then Jaxon was babbling before he said dada. Dire heard it of course and immediately picked him up again and started spinning the boy around. I watch that video again from time to time to see the moment and hear their laughter when I'm down.
He's also able to walk around now, and he loves to hold people's hands while walking. Sometimes we all take walks around NRC and show Jaxon around. The ghosts all love him too. Dire keeps showing Jaxon off every chance he gets saying "look how cute my son is!" and everyone goes along with it. Jaxon always has the biggest smile on his face too.
But I'll admit, I do miss all the time me and Dire had for ourselves. He spends a lot of time with Jaxon and I can understand that. But it's always either Jaxon or NRC that's occupying his time. I wish we could still go on dates or even just spending time alone at home. Is that selfish of me?'
Jaxon couldn't believe it. His father spending a lot of time with him? It didn't sound real. And to ignore his mother in the process, how awful of him. As if his father couldn't get worse in his mind. Jaxon huffed before skipping ahead a few pages.
'I didn't think I would enjoy being home on my own so much. Jaxon started kindergarten so he's been occupied there and Dire has been at NRC. Thanks to this, I've been getting more time to myself.
I've been loving my time alone a lot more than I originally thought I would. Jaxon isn't here to ask me a million things and I don't have to deal with Dire's antics. I feel bad for enjoying this alone time as much as I do. They're my family and I'm supposed to love spending time with them. But now I dread them coming home. What is wrong with me?
Even when they get home I find myself interacting with them differently. Dire has been trying to get Jaxon to complete homework as best he can. While Jaxon seems to have a harder time learning and understanding it, Dire keeps pushing that he understand it.
He's told me before that he dreams of Jaxon having a bright future. He wants him to be an ace student and do great academically, which I can understand, but he seems to get frustrated with how long it can take Jaxon to understand things. Jaxon even cried once, and Dire stopped his pushing immediately. He comforted Jaxon, and I think Jaxon learned that it was a way to stop pushing. Now whenever Jaxon gets frustrated with his schoolwork, he starts crying. I think Dire is getting tired of comforting him though, so I've stepped in from time to time so he would stop crying.
It only happens a few days a week, so I guess it's not too bad. Still, it's my job to step in when Jaxon gets too much for Dire to handle. Though I can't help but sigh in relief when Jaxon finally understands something. At least then I can enjoy the moment of peach and excitement that they both show.'
His mom...liked it better when he was gone? This passage didn't sound like his mom at all. He always knew her as a gentle and loving person who was always there for him. He spent more time with her than he did with his dad, but this is saying that she got tired of him and liked when he was away. The part about his father pushing him and getting frustrated was familiar to Jaxon, as well as his mother being the one to step in. Maybe he was just frustrating more as a little kid and she wanted to be around him more as he grew. With that though, he flipped ahead a few more pages.
'Jaxon has been spending more time with me lately. Since Dire keeps getting to tired to comfort him after getting frustrated with school, I think Jaxon isn't wanting to be around him as much. The schoolwork is most of the time he spends with Dire, so he must think his father is always frustrated with him.
He's still struggling quite a bit in school. Thankfully elementary isn't nearly as serious as high school or college, so grades don't quite matter for him yet. I do worry for how he'll do in the future especially since Dire has been so serious about him passing every class with amazing grades.
The other day the two even got into an argument. It was the first time I've ever heard Jaxon even yell at his father. Dire was shocked too, but insisted he was in the right and continued arguing. It ended with Jaxon running away in tears and I couldn't help but feel guilty for not stepping in. But what am I to do? Dire just wants him to be successful, but Jaxon is struggling.
At this rate, I'm not sure if Jaxon will ever be ready to take over at NRC. I know Jaxon really likes the school and he basically grew up there, but with the way things are going with Dire, I'm a bit worried. I've tried telling Dire about it, but he's very stubborn in his ways. Maybe things will get better with time. Maybe Jaxon will come to understand why Dire pushes him so hard.'
He doesn't even remember his first fight with his father, but here it was described. All the way back in elementary...it seems like such a long time ago. He's just been arguing with Crowley so long that it's natural to him now. He always knew his mom didn't know how to help though. Whenever they argued, she would stand on the side silently. If only Jaxon could go back and tell her that time wouldn't make things better at all. Jaxon sighed before flipping ahead again.
'I don't know what to do anymore. All they do is avoid each other and fight all the time. Dire wants Jaxon to be a supper smart straight A student who will eventually take over at NRC and be like him. Jaxon just wants to do his own thing and not have someone constantly pushing him to do better. It's gotten to the point where it just seems like Dire is disappointed in him all the time. I know he's not, he tells me so, but it's getting harder to tell if that's the truth.
I've tried talking to both of them, but Crowley won't give up on his dream for Jaxon, and Jaxon firmly believes his dad hates him and considers him a failure. I'm caught in the middle of two people who can't even get along for a little bit. All they do is push each others buttons. It's like even mentioning one to the other will cause immediate anger and defensiveness. This isn't how a family is supposed to be.
Others have told me that Jaxon is just in his rebellious phase since he's almost a teenager. But this has been going on since he was young, and if this is a rebellious phase, it started early and has been going on far longer than I would think.
I'm so lost and don't know what to do. How do I fix this? I know Dire loves his son and wants what's best for him but Jaxon can't see that. They're both going about it so wrong and I can't even get them in the same room together for five seconds without something happening. Can this family even be helped anymore?
I want to help them. I want them to get along, but I don't know how. Jaxon isn't even trying in school anymore. We send him there only for him to lash out at others and he even got into a fight with one student. I don't want him to feel like I'm disappointed in him, but I really wish he wouldn't fight. I'm just about the only one he gets along with anymore, so I can't be upset with him too.
I just feel so torn all the time. It's like I can't relax and there's constant strain. I hate feeling like this, but there isn't much I can do. I look at Dire now and it's hard to see the same man who would always be there whenever baby Jaxon needed anything. What happened to us?'
Before the pages had a small hint of happiness from his mom, but not this one. The writing feels so desperate and sad. His loving and happy mother, it was hard to imagine her so sad. Even the thought of her crying seemed to hurt Jaxon. At this point he didn't even know if he should blame his father or himself.
He flipped ahead again a few pages, only to find them blank. There was over half a notebook left but the pages were blank? That didn't make sense. Maybe she left before she could write those pages. Carefully, Jaxon flipped backwards to the last page with writing on it.
'This is going to be my last entry into this journal. I just can't take it here anymore. I can't live in this house like this anymore. This constant fighting, constant strain, it's too much.
I've already talked to Dire about it. He was upset of course, but could understand that we were no longer in love like we used to be. We weren't the same. I offered to take Jaxon with me, but he refused. I was quite surprised, but it was...kind of nice hearing that. Dire was more stubborn than ever saying that "You will not be taking my son from me. Do what you want wherever you go, but I'm not going to leave him."
It was like proof to me that Dire still cared about Jaxon. He wanted Jaxon to stay there with him. And to be honest, I'm happy about that. I think I may have become a mother sooner than I was ready. Having a child was something Dire wanted so badly, and I knew I could fulfill that. Yet here I am, wanting to get away from my own family.
I asked Dire to give this notebook to Jaxon someday so he can understand why I left. So assuming he did, I want to say hello to you my dear son.
I'm so sorry about everything. You must be so confused. I can't bring myself to face you before I leave. I'm a bit cowardly that way I know, but I don't even know how I would begin to explain everything to you.
The truth is that I'm selfish. If you've read any other parts of this journal, you could probably tell that I wasn't very happy with everything. I tried to hold on as long as I could, but it all got too much.
Than I went to the doctor, and found out that I'm sick. I don't have much time left either. As much as it pains me, I believe I should spend the time I have left in a way that makes me happy. I don't want to spend my last years alive in sadness and struggling to put a family back together.
I know I failed you as a mother. I can't apologize enough for that. I should've done something to help you and Dire. I should've stepped in, and should've tried to help sooner. I'm sorry for failing you.
But you should know that none of this is your fault. I may be leaving so I can be somewhere happy, but it's not because of you at all. Ever since the day you came into this world, I've loved you. I know you're capable of amazing things and I want you to be able to become whatever kind of person you want to be. It doesn't matter if it's the new headmage of NRC or even a househusband. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.
I hope you can forgive me for leaving you like this. I know it's cowardly and selfish, and I'm sorry. I also hope that you and your dad will be able to get along soon. It's a bit naïve, but maybe me leaving can bring you two closer. He does care about you, even if it may not seem like it, and so do I.
There are so many things I wish I could've changed, but life had other plans. I hope that someday you can look at this journal and understand or at least look back on happier times in the earlier pages. I love you Jaxon.
-Sydney Crowley'
And just like that, everything Jaxon had believed and known had been flipped upside down. He'd be lying if he said it was easy to process.
His mother wrote this before leaving. That was over four years ago. By now there's a good chance whatever sickness she had took it's toll. He wanted to find her. He wanted to search for her and stay with her after Night Raven College...but she's gone. It's likely already too late. She's gone for good.
Jaxon couldn't control it. Quick tears had run down his face before falling down into his lap. Usually he would do anything he could to avoid crying, but right now, he didn't give a damn. And the tears rolled quickly, so there was no stopping them if he tried. He couldn't even control how his breathing started to get shaky and he wanted to just curl into himself. The scary and tough delinquent and son of the headmage was here, sobbing alone in his room.
He basically just found out that the only person he felt understood him and could accept him, was gone with no hope of ever coming back. He would never see her again, and all she knew before she died was the son who was rebellious and angry all the time. She knew the constant fighting between him and his father, and she wasn't happy with it. It wasn't just Crowley's fault, it was his too. Both of them were to blame for her leaving and being so unhappy. Sure, she said not to blame himself, but how could he not?
Why couldn't he just do what his dad wanted? Why couldn't he just listen? Why couldn't he get along with his dad? Why couldn't he be smart and understand things like everyone else? Why did he have to be so...so...gah! He can't even think of the word. He may as well be the stupidest guy in the school. He's just the violent delinquent that can't do anything right.

¶ … Nursing: Comparative Critical Review To analyze the most pertinent data from a review of literature concerning the problems following discharge after intensive care during the recovery period in the weeks following the discharge of the patient. Further to make a comparative critical review of the work "Problems Following Discharge after Intensive Care" written by Daffurn et al. (1994) and "Intensive and Critical Nursing Care" written by Scraggs et al. (2001) Intensive Care Units are present in most institutions of medical care and are for the specific primary purpose of enabling round-the-clock care for the patients that are most ill and most in need of constant and scrutinized care while in the medical care facility. The period following the intensive care stay is often a period of time that the patient remains in the hospital or medical institution however there are those patients who are discharged directly home after a stay in the ICU. This work reviews the material available in relation to those patients discharged directly home and the outcomes that have been reported as well as assessing the aforementioned works of Daffurn (1994) and Scraggs (2001). I. Review of Articles for Comparative Critical Review Article One: According to Daffurn (1994) there is not much information con-cerning the "recovery period in the weeks immediately following discharge" of patients from the Intensive Care Unit of hospitals. A study was conducted over a six-month period in Sydney, Australia during the year of 1991 in effort to "identify and describe the sequele found in patients at 3 months after leaving the ICU." There were 54 patients in the study whose length of stay (LOS) was greater than 48 hours in the ICU. Major findings of the study were that a total of 34% of the patients "had no recollection of their ICU stay" while 16% reported "unpleasant memories, including nightmares and hallucinations" and 27.7% reported "minor complaints." In this study the patients medical specialist had provided the major follow-up service and over 75% of the patients needed further "special assessment or advice." The study concluded that:: "A more comprehensive discharge process is suggested." Daffurn (1994) Article Two: The study performed by Scraggs et al. (2001) was conducted in a hospital setting in Sydney, Australia in 2001 in a voluntary participatory project approved by the Ethics Committee of the South Western Sydney Area Health Service and the University of Sydney. The patients in this study were of an average or "mean" age of 51.27 years of age. There were fewer females than males in the study which is consistent with the ratio of the "ICU population with most patients being active prior to admission to the ICU and 44% of patients employed prior to admission." The illness predominant was that of "cardiac disease and hypertension." Further noted in the pretest stage of study was that: The majority of the patients received antibiotics while n ICU (85%) and 12.9% of the patients required inotropic support due to instability in their cardiovascular status. Another 12.9% of the patients were on continuous veno-venous haemodiafiltration (CFFHD) due to acute renal failure. 34 of the patients had experienced complications due to respiratory (n=16) sepsis or infection (n=17), multiorgan failure (n=3), renal failure (n=2), bleeding (n=4), and other complications (n=8)." Scraggs et al. (2001) Results of the study found that of the 54 patients 34 of the patients experienced normal sleep patterns after discharge while 15 reported that they were unable to remain asleep due to disturbances and 5 patients were unable to fall asleep. 41 patients reported a normal appetite while 11 reported that their appetite was reduced and 2 patients reported a controlled appetite. Of the 54 patients 17 were not on medications at al while 14 of the patients were n Cardiac medications, 9 patients were taking multiple meds and four patients were taking analgesic medications. In relation to the memory of the patient in relation to the ICU stay 16 of the 54 patients had no memory of the stay whatsoever while 7 had a pleasant recall of the ICU stay and 9 patients claimed an unpleasant recall of their stay in the ICU. Reporting nightmares during the ICU stay were 7 patients while 15 of the patients had complaints of a minor nature. Home support was reported to be "none" by 4 of the 54 patients, while 40 of the patients reported "good" home support and 10 patients reported inability to sleep due to interruptions from home help support. This study also stated that there is very little in existence in the form of scientific studies in relation to patients after being discharged home from the Intensive Care Unit. Scraggs et al. (2001) II. Review of Available Literature: In the study performed by the Faculty of Nursing and Health, Centre for Clinical Practice Innovation, Griff University, Bundall, Queensland, Australia, Chaboyer (2003) writes that many patients studied over a three-year period relating to "ICU patients long-term experiences after being discharged from the hospital" identified that most of the patients had been discharged from the ICU to return home and that many of the patients had experienced resulting problems with "mobility, disability and fatigue." Further noted was "changes in employment status" as well as the "need for financial assistance." The study resulted in further research studies being undertaken in relation to the patient following ICU discharge. Chaboyer (2003) In a study performed by Evangelismos Hospital in Athens, Greece by the Department of Critical Care Medicine,. Dimpoulou et al. (2004) writes was with the stated objective "to evaluate health-related quality of life and disability in multiple-trauma patients requiring intensive care unit management." Findings of the study were that 64 of 87 patients experienced a problem in one of the six areas related to "subjective health status" with the most "prevalent complaint" being related to "subjective health status" in the form of "somatic subdimensions with emotional functioning also affected." The stated conclusion of this study is that "the majority of survivors of major trauma exhibit considerable levels of disability and impairment in health-related quality of life. Global injury severs score and degree of brain trauma determines functional limitations." Dimpoulou et al. (2004) In a study performed by the Critical Care Medicine Unit at Flinders University in Adelaide, SA Australia, Maddox (2001) writes that "While appropriate referrals to community services upon discharge home may address the physical needs of former intensive care patients, the psychological needs may be overlooked." This study is descriptive of the period of recovery following discharge of the patient home after ICU care in relation to their significant others and targets identification of factors influencing the patient's recovery period. The method of study was through semi-structured interviews with five patients and four significant others and was conducted between six and fifteen weeks following the patient's discharge from the ICU. Factors that influenced the recovery period were " individual attitudes, prior experiences, the ICU experience and support of family and friends." The study found that "attention to physical needs and care often mask the psychological support received, particularly from family members" and that "despite awareness of community supports, patients were generally reluctant to avail themselves of any of these services." Maddox (2001) In a study performed by the School of Healthcare Studies, University of Leeds, Highroyds Hospital in the United Kingdom with the stated objective of "examination of long-term psychological consequences for survivors of intensive care" Perrins (1998) writes that the one-year study was a follow-up of 72 patients after having been discharged from the ICU at St. James University Hospital in Leeds. The aim was assessing the patient in terms of "sense of well-being at specified intervals" after having been discharged from St. James University's ICU in Leeds and as well was inclusive of making identification of variables in the ICU environment that may be attributed to or influence the recovery of the patient in psychological terms. The study assumes and indicates that the different variables among the individual patient in terms of "type of illness," recall of the patient as well as other factors greatly determine the recovery outcome of patients. This study expands the perception of post-ICU psychological and quality of life studies. Perrins (1998) In a highly relevant study conducted by Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Mayo Medical School, Mayo Clinic in Maryland, Finkielman et al. 2003 writes that the objective of the study was focused toward the fact that each year in July inexperienced residents begin to care for patients admitted to the ICU and the determination of the patient's outcome due to the impact either negatively or positively resulting from the inexperienced resident in terms of patient care delivery. "76.7% of patients were discharged home while 15.1% were stated discharged to other facilities" Finkielman et al. (2003). Adjustments were made for potentiality of variable confounds and no noted differences in admission rates for that time period were found. Conclusions were that patient admission to ICU during July was in no way associated with hospital mortality rate increase or ICU stay length. Finkielman et al. (2003) In a study conduction by the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Haukeland University Hospital in Norway which was a follow-up of after intensive care with objectives of research of "health problems, quality of life, functional status, and memory" Kvale et al. (2003) following intensive care. Findings in brief were that further research is needed to fully understand exactly how the many psychosocial and physical possibilities of problems after a stay in the ICU are specifically related to and resulting from that stay. Kvale et al. (2003) In the study "Leaving the Intensive Care Unit: A Phenomenological study of the Patient's Experience" conducted by the Belfast School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen's University in the UK, McKinney et al. (2002) states that the study was focused on that which is termed "relocation stress" and is a phenomenon not examined fully or thoroughly understood in relation from the patient's transfer from ICU and stated that greater continuity of care for those recovering from critical illness. McKinney et al. (2002). Although this study focused on transfer from ICU to ward, the findings are relevant in that assuredly the discharge transfer of the patient from ICU to home is just as large an adjustment as from ICU to ward for the recovery of the critically ill patient in both psychological and physical terms. The study entitled "Intensive Care Unit Survivors Have Fewer Hospital Readmissions Days than other Hospitalized Patients in British Columbia" conducted in 2004 and reported by Keenan et al. (2004) at St. Paul's Hospital Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences was conducted with the objective of making a determination of the association between the number of hospital readmissions and those that were ICU readmissions as well as finds as to number of readmission days. The study was of 23, 859 patients admitted to the ICU and 40052 patients admitted to the hospital but not admitted to the ICU. No interventional methods were applied. Results show that ICU had 0.66 readmissions per year and 5.29 readmissions days within a year compared to 073 per year and 5.48 per day for the non-ICU group. Conclusions were that ICU patients surviving admission have fewer hospital readmissions than former patients that did not have a prior intensive care unit stay. Keenan et al. (2004) In a brief review of various studies of specified medicine categories it was found through a study investigating the value of information on clinical features and intensity of treatment activity in the ICU in predicting the need for further interventional care after discharge of the patient from the ICU findings were that complications in sub-ICU patients "younger than the age of 50 are less likely" than in other patients. Demonstrated was a linear logistic regression analysis of predictive values for sub-ICU complications and findings were that age, increased risk X 10 for patients over 50 not within the set "predetermined limits." Berardino (2000) in a separate study conducted by the Department of Intensive Care at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Perth Western Australia entitled "Patient's Dreams and Unreal Experiences Following Intensive Care Unit Admission" Roberts et al. states that "Dreams and unreal experiences occur commonly in critically ill patients admitted to intensive care unit." The study is performed with 31 patients in relation to the "patient's subjective recall 12-18 months" after the ICU stay. Findings were through "semi-structured interviews that 74% of patients" who were in the ICU 3 days or longer "reported dreaming, with the majority" also reporting "frightening hallucinations" however only two of the total 31 patients were found to have sustained long-term negative psychological sequelae but short terms impacts may have not been discovered. Roberts et al. (2004) Important and highly relevant findings are revealed in the following study as to the value of providing both oral and written instructions to ICU patients upon their being discharged from the ICU to home. In this study entitled "Written and Verbal Information vs. Verbal Information Only for Patients Discharged from Acute Hospital Settings to Home" stated is that: Provision of verbal and written health information significantly increased knowledge and satisfaction scores." Johnson et al. (2003) The study notes that this is particularly vital procedure in situations of educational lack or other speech or language associated complications. For example the provider of care in a large city inclusive of many spoken languages would be urged to give both oral and written instruction to the patient for aftercare upon ICU discharge. Strahan et al. (2003) states that: Follow-up of patients discharged from the intensive are unit is recommended as a means of service evaluation (Department of Health 2000 Comprehensive critical Care: A Review of Adult Critical Care Services) in order to monitor the quality of the services provided." One final aspect for review in this work is that of the caregiver's responsibilities and the accompanying responsibilities of the ICU and staff in preparing the caregiver through instructional assistance at the time of the ICU patient's discharge. In a study entitled "Caregivers of ICU Patients Discharged Home: What Burden do they Face?" Chaboyer (2001) writes that: It is therefore essential that all nurses involved in ongoing management of the ICU patients have an understanding of the caregivers role, and consider both the patient and his/her carer in the discharge planning process." Further stated is that "caregivers experience a substantial burden which is associated with the complexity of the patient's physical and psychological impairment and complex technology. To enable the impact of the caregiver further research is needed to more fully explore, examine and measure the factors involved in caring for IU patients postdischarge." Chaboyer (2001) With all of this information in mind which has been examined as well as the studies of Daffurn (1994) or Article One of this work and that of Scraggs et al. (2001) or Article Two of this work, it is imperative that care providers in hospital ICUs or other critical care units provide the patient as well as the caregiver with ample information both verbal and written so that the proper care for the patient can be effectuated after discharge to home from the ICU. There is however, one last thing which must be considered and which both Daffurn (1994) and Scraggs et al. (2001) had not yet touched upon which is demonstrated in a study conducted by Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Australia's Department of Intensive Care. In this study entitled "Screening for Delirium in an Adult Intensive Care Unit" it was acknowledged that there is a need for lengthy psychiatric assessment due to the fact that Nursing professionals are at the "forefront of those who are able to provide holistic care through meaningful conversation and empathetic touch." In this study all patients with ICU admission and stay of over 72 hours were screened with those admitted "following neurological insults or with pre-existing altered mental states excluded from the screening. QI results of delirium incidences were 40% of the total sampling (n=73 in a mixed medical/surgical and elective/emergency patient population." III. Review: Comparison and Contrast of Findings: As noted by the first two cases in this work or Articles One and Two there are differing reasons for the much needed follow-up on patients after discharge to home from ICU in order to understand the elements or factors that have the biggest impacts on the patient's well-being. As noted by Scraggs et all (2001) there were some negative discharge to home experiences among those experiencing cardiovascular disease while Chaboyer (2003) states that patients were likely to experiences resulting problems with "mobility, disability and fatigue." Further experiences of "somatic subdimensions and emotional functioning" effects were noted by Dimpoulou et al. (2004). Lastly, to reiterate the resulting information stated by Chaboyer (2003) in the importance of providing the caregiver complete information upon the patient's discharge to home from ICU for the optimization of the patient's recovery must be noted. Conclusion: While the institution's care provider staff is most assuredly an element that either positively or negatively impacts the patient in terms of recovery upon discharge based on the care delivery of the provider each one of these studies demonstrates clearly that the condition or disease, illness or injury of the patient is most likely one of the two most predominant factors in the experience upon discharge home from the ICU of the recovering patient. Equally as important however, is the proper provision of both verbal and written instructions to the patient and the patient's caregiver greatly impacts the patient in terms of well-being as well as overall experience of discharge to home from ICU. Therefore recommendations from this study are the provision of verbal and written instructions to both caregiver and patient which will enable the caregiver, optimize the patient's experience and recovery and lessen the chances of future ICU admissions related to the same trauma, injury or disease.
