Isaac has a wish... to have arms.
Sadly, the sisters don't have enough engineering knowledge to do so, nor Elisabet remembers very well to be able to teach them... yet.

The Magnus Archives, OC Ramblings…
I have consumed so much of The Magnus Archives lately (first time listening, no spoilers pls) and I have thoughts.
Spoilers ahead for first two seasons of TMA!
We know so far that Elias is ‘The Eye’. He is of ‘The Watcher’. He sees all.
Now imagine — someone who hears all.
Someone who knows details of The Institute and of cases because, every single time Jon Sims sits down and hits (maybe) record, the person hears the statement. Like, in their head.
Imagine it’s like how the archivists feel like they’re actually experiencing the events of the statement when they read them aloud, except the person hears the entire thing in their head.
Now imagine that it, for some reason, only began when Jon took over. Yes, the person knows of Gertrude, but the memories and knowledge are fuzzy and muddled. Any statement the current Archivist and assistants have recorded, though?
Crystal clear.
Now imagine that the entire crew at the institute has no idea that a listener even exists; not even Elias is aware. The person is an enigma.
Now imagine the look on their faces when a 17 year old kid busts through the front door of the archives right before lock-up, rain-soaked and demanding to speak with Johnathan Sims, head archivist of the Magnus Institute, London.
(Because they’ve heard that phrase so many damned times now that they hear it when they sleep.)
Because, dammit, they crossed an ocean to get here and broke several international laws in the process, so by god — let them speak to the damned archivist already!
Imagine the loopholes the crew would have with Elias not knowing? Imagine the dynamic now consisting of a (runaway?) 17 year old American kid and all of these adults that have been through hell and back? And yeah, they tried to tell the kid to turn tail and run — just get out while you can!
The kid simply shrugged and asked if they had food and what the Wi-Fi password was before flopping down in the big, plush armchair in the office. They just watch the adults in the room expectantly, rain soaking into the upholstery of the armchair.
Ohhhh, I am having thoughts!!!

happy storyteller saturday! v specific lol but tell me about watcher selene! I keep seeing the tag in my notifs and now im curious 👀
yes hello hi I would love to tell you about Selene! also I'm making this the "Selene for people who don't know Pillars of Eternity" post, if you don't know the videogame but want to understand who the blue girl is. this is the place
the basics are that she's my Pillars of Eternity (videogame) OC, she's touched by Ondra (goddess of the moon, sea and oblivion) from birth which made her blue and glowy with horns (rather than a normal elf like her parents), and she's psychic! she reads minds! she hears everyone's thoughts, especially the painful ones, and she can't make it stop!!
(also she's kind of my main guy (gender neutral) right now and I love her)
more points of interest about her that might explain why I tag the posts I do with her name:
(cw for religious cults, abuse and suicidal ideation)
raised in a cult of Ondra, grew up in a temple. never knew her parents. it was just assumed that since she was marked by The Goddess obviously she was meant to be a priestess. and the thing you need to know about Ondrite worship is that one of its main things is the tradition of Giftbearers, people who collect mementos of traumatic events from people who want to forget said trauma and throw those mementos into the sea. because all forgotten things belong to Ondra and all that belongs to Ondra is forgotten. the idea is that once the reminder of the pain is gone you are free to move on
when Selene was like 12, her psychic powers manifested and she discovered that she can literally erase painful memories from people's minds. which was assumed to be a gift from The Goddess and she was immediately was hailed as some kind of super-Giftbearer. from this point on, people would come to the temple specifically to see her and to have their bad memories taken away. one problem with that: everything Selene erases from someone else's mind, she gets to remember instead of them. after a few decades (pillars of eternity elves live for hundreds of years btw) of doing that, she kind of ran out of room in her brain, and the memories started to overwhelm her
eventually Selene realized she can't do this anymore and that she wants to stop. at which point she was informed that she should ritually drown herself to "complete the cycle" and release the memories into oblivion. Selene refused, on account of she wanted to live, at which point the same priests that raised her attempted to drown her by force and she had to use her psychic powers to kill for the first time to save herself. after killing them she fled her community and spent the next couple of decades living in the wilderness before eventually deciding to try civilization once again, at which point the events of the actual game Pillars Of Eternity find her (which is where the 'watcher' part comes into play. a Watcher is someone who can see soulsa and the game is about you becoming a Watcher. even more voices in Selene's brain)
falls in love with a guy who is a farmer and a war vet and going through his own crisis of faith related to the god of the sun and second chances he used to worship and then kind of helped kill. hey what if we were both temple kids and my god wanted me dead because I have served my purpose of absorbing other people's pain and there's no use for me anymore and your country wanted you dead because you fought in a war to protect it but at the end of the war you had to help kill your god. and what if you had no purpose and my only purpose was Survive and you needed someone to follow and ended up following me. what about it
Ondra tries to kill the farmer war vet guy at one point because she hates to see Selene happy and THAT'S how Selene realizes she loves him in the first place. because Ondra decided to go after him specifically
Selene then proceeds to silently pine for like three years because she doesn't want to find out what Ondra does if she confesses
the farmer guy confesses to her first and Selene goes "well I can't NOT do this"
this is them btw (thank you @layalu I am cherishing this art forever)
Tumblr media
also. after the events of the game she joins the country' Psychic Secret Service and becomes a cool telepath spymaster detective kind of deal. also deeply important to me

A/N: Finally done! Took a bit longer than just October but I'm glad to say I didn't draw it out over several months like certain... other short stories *looks at Magician's Bait*
----------
If Damian were to rank the past day in his mental list of adventures, the investigation of the Blood Moon Specter would have to be one of the top strangest things to happen to him.
Sure, the whole business with Natali Tallis had happened a year before, where he was abducted and held in the abandoned catacombs as bait for magician Caiya Ebony. But he didn’t consider that particularly strange. Damian had at least somewhat understood what was happening then. Everything fit within the known laws of rune writing, even with Natali being one of the Stalkers, magicians who figured out how to speak runes, granting them more power.
Reese’s ability to resist the runes had confused him at first, until he’d found out about her heritage and how it negated the runes’ power. Draigo were known for their immunity to that sort of thing, and being only half-Draigo didn’t seem to dilute the ability.
But that was all logical. It all made sense to him.
What didn’t make sense to him now was the current situation.
Damian and Luc stood at the far corner of the small cell, inexplicably separated from their bodies, but not dead, either. The culprit, the woman wearing an orange, silk dress, stood at the opposite side of the unnaturally blurry cell, her frustration obvious as she tried and failed to do the same thing to Reese.
Reese, for her part, was completely oblivious as she checked Damian’s body for first a pulse, then signs of runes.
The woman cursed, her hands passing through Reese’s shoulders as if she were simply made of mist. “How?!” she demanded, batting at the younger woman as if that would accomplish anything. “How can she just… this?!”
Damian glanced at Luc, who shrugged, but didn’t provide any more explanation. In a blink, the woman stood in front of them, her hands clenched into fists as if she intended to throttle the answer out of them. Luc stepped forward slightly. “Release us,” he commanded, “and we’ll tell you what we know.”
She gritted her teeth. Behind her, Reese moved to check Luc, frown deepening. She didn’t appear overly concerned about being locked in the cell. Her knife was sheathed, but Damian had witnessed firsthand her speed and skill. Whoever opened the cell door next would be greeted with a rude welcome.
So long as they were in the physical realm, he supposed.
“You will still be trapped,” the woman finally said, composing herself. “Chained and unarmed, save for your apprentice’s knife.”
Luc tilted his head, regarding her. “I’ve been in worse binds.”
“Yes, that curse of yours Rycellus mentioned.”
“Not what I was thinking in particular, but yes. Might I know the name of my… host?”
The woman’s eyes flicked up and down, studying first him, then Damian. “I am Laiose. Tell me, how is it you survived this long? There was no record of you ever actually removing the runes.”
Luc hissed through his teeth. “What is with you people and my curse?”
Laoise smirked. “I know many things. I simply share information as I see fit. Now, how is it you survived, hmm… is it fifteen years now?”
“It’s closer to thirteen,” Luc said through gritted teeth. “And as I said before, I will only answer if you release us.”
Laoise considered this for a moment, then nodded in satisfaction. “I will accept this. My answers for your return to your physical bodies. Fair trade?”
Before Luc could respond, Damian cut in. “No. We answer your question about Reese in exchange for letting us go. For the answer about Luc’s curse, you must answer a question from us.”
Luc nodded in approval as Laoise glanced back to Reese, who had settled on the ground close to the cell door, knife drawn, head tilted as if listening. The woman turned back to Luc and Damian. “These new terms are acceptable. The curse?”
Luc pulled off his jacket and undid the first button of his shirt, pulling the collar aside to reveal the bandages wrapped around his torso. “The runes are still there,” he explained, “we found a way to weaken them. I won’t bleed out. But they’ll never fully heal.”
“Fascinating. Do they affect any injuries sustained more recently?”
Luc buttoned his shirt and put his jacket back on. “Will you answer a second question for us?”
Laoise frowned, thinking. “Perhaps. But ask your first question.”
Luc looked to Damian, who already had his question ready. “How is it you are able to do this?” He gestured to himself, Luc, and the surrounding cell, blurred as if viewed through a glass fogged over from condensation. Even Reese was slightly blurred.
“Simple. I forced your spirits into the dream realm. You might call it something else here, but where I’m from, that’s what we call it.”
“Where are you from?”
She tilted her head knowingly. “A planet far from here, with different cultures, technologies, and unique abilities.” She glanced at Luc. “Do the weakened runes still affect your natural healing?”
Luc’s eyes flicked to Damian. “Somewhat. Major injuries require a magician’s intervention, but if there’s a difference with more minor ones, I can’t tell. How is it you are from another planet, and now here?”
“Secret of the trade,” Laoise answered, exuding a certain air of smugness. “Would you like to be returned now?”
Damian eyed Reese, who still had that same unbothered expression and the stance of a hunter lying in wait for her prey. Perhaps waiting on Rycellus or one of his underlings to check on their trap. “How is it we could not see you until you… forced us here… but Rycellus speaks to you?”
A mixture of emotions crossed Laoise’s face. Anger. Frustration. Confusion. Amusement. “I do not know. He is the first we have found, both here and back home. I have yet to observe your other apprentice write runes, and yet Rycellus claims her to be a magician. Is she?”
Damian didn’t hesitate. “Yes. Rune-writing is less useful in combat as it takes time to construct even the simple ones. It is common practice to apply runes to weapons, clothing or skin prior to expected combat.”
“She is not in combat now. How hasn’t she tried to escape yet?”
“I… I’m not sure,” Damian admitted, hoping his uncertainty was convincing. “Why has Rycellus been abducting and torturing people?”
Laoise cocked her head, considering this answer and his new question. “We are looking for something,” she replied, “and we have yet to find it.”
Damian opened his mouth to ask what they were looking for, but Luc spoke before he could. “How can we trust that you are telling the truth?”
The amusement was prominent. “You can’t. But I can’t trust that of you, either.”
She had avoided giving a concrete answer to certain questions. How she’d gotten to Valaria. The name and specifics about her supposed home planet. Perhaps it was information she didn’t typically give out. Or perhaps she was lying about the business of it all. Not entirely out of the question….
Damian doubted she would reveal anymore about her origins or her goals. Doing so was guaranteed to jeopardize them whether Damian and the Watchers could do anything or not. Even with Reese trapped in the cell with them, she was still armed and any attempts to bind her would be met with pain.
He glanced at Luc, who nodded once, coming to the same conclusions he had. “We’d like to be returned to our physical bodies now,” Luc stated, crossing his arms. “I cannot provide you with a concrete answer for your first question, so an educated guess will have to suffice. She has found a way to nullify magic used directly against her. I do not know exactly how it is.”
“A rune,” Laoise mused, considering this half-truth. “Perhaps you are lying. Perhaps you have this entire conversation. But a deal is a deal, after all.”
She made a shoving motion with both hands. Instantly, vertigo curled in Damian’s stomach, and the cell blurred even more before becoming completely dark. His eyes snapped open, and awareness of his body flooded back into him, with all the aches and bruises and stiffness from being held in one position for so long.
Across from him, Luc stirred, eyes opening and darting about the room, searching for Laoise. But aside from Reese, they appeared to be alone.
Reese flinched at the sudden movement at the corner of her eye, but when she saw Luc and Damian awake, she relaxed. “So it was just sedation?”
Luc shook his head. “No.”
“Then what…?”
“I…” he glanced around again, “I’m not sure. But suffice it to say we are very, very lucky to have you here.”
She raised her eyebrows, but before she could ask further questions, her head snapped towards the cell door. “Someone’s coming,” she hissed, “tell me later.”
If there was even going to be a later. Damian kept the bleak thought to himself. He had said he was going to be the optimistic one, after all. A moment later, he heard footsteps echoing down the hallway and shook his head. How does she do that? Is it another Draigo thing?
Not that any of them could know for certain.
Reese rose to her feet and drew her knife as the footsteps approached the door and stopped. The moment the lock clicked, she kicked the door open, shoving back the person behind it and darting out of the cell, knife raised. Unfortunately, the door slammed shut the moment after she cleared it.
The surprised guards cried out, followed by one of them screaming in pain. Another grunted, and Reese shouted, “Nobody move! Move and I slit his throat!”
Silence.
“Drop your weapons.”
Metal clattered on stone.
“Free the other Watchers,” Reese commanded, voice cold, “or I will kill him, kill the rest of you, and do it myself.”
Even without seeing the look on her face, even without being on the receiving end of her words, Damian shuddered. He made eye contact with Luc, whose face was set in careful neutrality. “Too much like a hunter,” he muttered as the cell door opened, and one of the mercenaries who had brought them here entered, hands shaking slightly as he pulled out a key and began to unlock the chains binding Luc to the wall.
Luc fixed the mercenary with an unblinking stare until the chains fell away and rose to his feet, rubbing at his wrists. He didn’t take his eyes off the mercenary until Damian’s chains were unlocked and helped him to his feet. Damian staggered, the blood rushing to his head, but Luc didn’t give him time to steady himself before shoving him out of the cell.
The hallway outside was a mess. One of the mercenary guards lay on the ground, groaning in pain as a second pressed his hands to a wound in his abdomen, blood pooling on the floor beneath them. Rycellus slumped against the wall, Reese standing behind him with one hand twisting his arm behind his back and the other holding her knife at his throat. A thin trickle of blood dripped down his neck from where she’d nicked him at some point during the scuffle.
“Get in the cell,” Reese ordered as the mercenary who’d freed Damian and Luc tried to follow them into the hallway.
The mercenary staunching his fellow’s bleeding flinched. “But—!”
“Get. In. The. Cell.”
The mercenary exhaled slowly before grabbing the other mercenary’s shoulders and dragging him into the cell, leaving a smear of red on the floor.
“What are you doing?” Rycellus murmured, eyes fixed on a spot on the wall, “why haven’t you… oh, bullshit.”
Reese yanked him away from the wall, forcing a cry as the edge of her blade bit into his neck again. “You too.”
She shoved him inside the cell after the other three and slammed the door shut, throwing the bolt with an air of finality. “Now that’s over with…” she muttered, sheathing her knife, “we should get out of here. I sent Nari Shaye—Rycellus’ sister—ahead with the evidence I gathered and we should meet the town authorities en route.”
Luc regarded her with that same stony expression. “You gathered evidence… and sent it ahead… with his sister…” he sighed. “I remember telling you explicitly to—”
“And y’know what it all worked out,” Reese interrupted, grinning. “Now come on, let’s go.” As she moved past him towards the stairs, she swatted her arm. “And stop acting like your uncle. It doesn’t suit you.”
Damian glanced at Luc, who shook his head, not quite shedding the neutral look. “Well, you heard her,” the Watcher agreed, gesturing ahead. “But I’m not leaving until I get my weapons back.”
And who knows how long that's going to take. But Damian had to agree. He wasn't taking any more chances on the road. And the last thing he wanted was to get himself killed before he could dig more into the mysteries he discovered today.

Within this vast universe that is the Storiverse with many characters, it's no shock that a few characters are based on preexisting characters.
That's where these three come in...
From Left to Right we have AXL, Symon, and Felix.
AXL is based on LT Lickme's original character, The Watcher, but AXL is far more sadistic and his origins are dark (More of that in a separate post.) he's a brash, cruel cyber ethereal (there are a few of those) and has a hatred for ethereal 'half breeds'... That's going to be relevant in a few sentences.
Symon is based on Mr. System of Mr. Sys, Symon is an Oracle (Guardians of the stars, Cosmic Ethereals) that crash landed from the cosmos, he's actually quite close to Quinn, they're good friends considering whilst Quinn was out for 30-40 years, Symon checked up on him every so often to ensure he was okay.
Felix is an Ethereal half breed, he was human until a dying ethereal fused with his body and they become one, Felix is apart of The Ethereal group on Earth but is shunned and looked down upon by many ethereals (including Axl.) for being half bred. Felix is based on Agent 47 from Hitman but with bright green eyes and supernatural abilities.
More posts on the main five coming in future posts!

Manga-ish art style practice 1/?
Testing out mostly the grayscale painting for the upcoming comics about this AU. Even though I'm reviving my manga drawing style, the comics will be left to right reading.
What are Beta and Isaac looking for? Shenanigan material, possibly.

I know nothing about Pillars of Eternity, but asking 1, 3, 9, 11 and 13 anyway. :)
Thank you for letting me talk about my OC despite not even being in the fandom, dear, it is very much appreciated! 😘
Under a cut because oooooops, it got long. 😅
1. what is your watcher’s class? how does it relate to their backstory?
Eloi is a ranger, something that he picked originally out of necessity, really. He's from a poor family, raised by a single mother after his father went missing when he was just a little kid, and then when his mother became older and more frail, Eloi had to learn to take more and more responsibility to be able to support his mother in turn.
In Old Vailia where he grew up, things are not great. The few rich there are super rich while the rest have nearly nothing and job opportunities are scarce. Corruption is everywhere. But Eloi was brought up well and he didn't want to end up living a life of crime... so eventually, after first trying some things he wasn't proud of, he taught himself how to hunt with a bow to bring food to the table and to trade with animal hides and stuff. An honest trade.
When his mother became severely ill Eloi tried to find a more stable income by becoming a blacksmith's apprentice but eventually nothing came of it, and then when his mother died and with nothing tying him to Old Vailia anymore, Eloi took his animal companion and set out towards Dyrwood, confident in being able to make it in the foreign country with his ranger abilities, at least until he found something more stable, hopefully.
3. what are your watcher’s likes and dislikes (like the ones poe2 companions have)?
Based on actual ingame likes and dislikes I think Eloi's would be:
Likes: being dutiful, lightheartedness, being kind to animals, resourcefulness, pro-animancy
Dislikes: animal cruelty, slavery, pro-Leaden Key, religiousness, pro-Rauatai, anti-animancy, skulduggery
But to put it in my own words... Eloi appreciates honesty, hard work, ability to have fun and laugh at yourself, as well as compassion towards others, be they kith or wilder or animals. He is also a big fan of progress, especially so when it means more people can benefit from it, hence his stance on animancy, for example.
He can't stand injustice of any kind, cruelty or people lying to further their own interests, especially if it means putting others in bad situations to achieve that. He is also very much opposed to the blind faith in gods and the things people will do in their name.
9. who are your watcher’s favorite companions?
In Pillars of Eternity 1: Edér, Kana and Maneha.
Eloi took instant liking to Edér because their sense of humour is really similar and Edér is down to earth regular type of guy just like Eloi is, after all they both come from humble backgrounds. He is also kind and very handsome, so yeah, sue him, Eloi almost immediately developed a little crush, ok. He also immediately took a liking to Kana despite them not having nothing much in common to be honest, Kana being a scholar and Eloi being a poor uneducated nobody. But they share a passionate outlook on things and Kana tells good stories and much like Edér, Kana is also kind and loyal and those are traits that mean a lot to Eloi.
Something about Maneha also just immediately clicked with Eloi. The big barbarian woman is fun to be around and later on, after getting to know her better, Eloi and Maneha kinda bond over the fact that they are both gay, as well as the fact that they both have memories of a previous life that they'd rather forget.
In Pillars of Eternity 2: Edér (yes, still), Serafen and Tekēhu. (Also I know they're not technically companions but sidekicks, but Rekke and Vatnir). Oh, and Eloi gets along pretty well with Pallegina in PoE2 as well due to her sharing his dislike for religion and her support for animancy.
When it comes to the other favourites, Edér is of course still Eloi's homeboy (and also in my canon, though not in the game itself, eventually part of the sweet polycule that is Eloi/Edér/Tekēhu/Rekke), Serafen has a great sense of humour and is simply just a great friend (and to quote Serafen himself, kinda like a crazy uncle and everyone totally needs a crazy uncle in their lives 😂), Rekke is a laugh to be around, he's good in a fight and he's loyal (and really cute) and Tekēhu is quite endearing and has a sweet, soft, vulnerable side to him that Eloi comes to love once he gets behind that proud exterior.
And Vatnir... Well, Vatnir may be a hypocrite and a coward and a downright liar... but Eloi does kind of understand him and why he did what he did and he really just wants Vatnir to have a chance to experience something good after all the shit he's had to go through, and Eloi ends up befriending the endings godlike eventually.
11. who are your watcher’s least favorite companions?
In Pillars of Eternity 1: Definitely Durance. He is nasty and has nothing good to say about anyone ever and Eloi who was always taught to be polite can't really understand how anyone could be that unpleasant. Eloi tolerates Durance because as a generally tolerant and diplomatic person he wants to give everyone the benefit of the doubt... but Durance makes it really damn hard for him.
That being said, Eloi isn't exactly besties with Hiravias either because he is just a bit too crash and rude for Eloi's taste. But in the end they do have each others' backs and there is no active dislike between them, though they're not exactly friends either.
In Pillars of Eternity 2: I would have to say Maia and Xoti. Which is maybe kind of ironic considering how Maia and Kana from PoE1 are siblings, but Kana is a peaceful scholarly type of person while Maia is an active spy in her country's military and Eloi really dislikes the military tactics of Rauatai in general. Also she made Tekēhu cry so... yeah. You can't make Tekēhu cry and be on Eloi's good books.
Unlike Maia, Eloi does like Xoti, for the most part... but he does not like Xoti's absolute devotion to her god or her inability to accept the differing views of other people when it comes to religion especially. Maybe before the events of PoE1 they would've been better friends... but not after Eloi learned the truth about the gods. 🤷‍♀️
13. how does your watcher relate to their culture?
Despite having been born and raised in Old Vailia, Eloi has more Aedyr blood in him than Vailian, since both his parents were born in Aedyr empire and while his dad had some Vailian blood in him, it's from generations ago. His parents actually migrated to Old Vailia a few months before Eloi was born but they never really learned to fit in there properly and neither did Eloi. So really, he has no strong ties to Old Vailia now that his parents are both gone... but he doesn't really have strong ties to Aedyr either because while his blood is mostly Aedyran, he has never even been there himself, he's only heard stories.
Which is why he decided to go and leave for another country entirely after his mother's death prior to the events of PoE1. Because who knows, maybe he would find a culture to relate to in Dyrwood, at last.

I have met multiple people who have worked at Watcher World, and they have all said they hated it, but then they switch up, like, really fast?? Why??
(type a heart if you're forced to say you like it because you don't wanna get fired. type an eye if you're being forced to say you like it because of something supernatural.)
[ @villeisahuman ] - 🪲
I dunno why people switch up so fast? Honestly, I think it has something to do about not getting Fired. I mean, if the bosses knew you were going around Complaining, they wouldn't be very happy now would they.
I need the Money, and I'm not intending on getting fired. But hey, what the boss don't See, the boss won't Mind, hm?
Secretly, I have a lot of fun at work some days, but don't tell anyone that. Can't have people thinking I actually enjoy myself!
