"Two so-called “Celtic rainforests” in the UK are to be restored with a mixture of native planting and natural reforestation.
The hope is that they will provide rich habitats for dozens of species, improve groundwater quality and flood prevention, and allow residents and tourists to experience an exceptionally rare forest biome called temperate rainforest.
The most famous and largest temperate rainforests on Earth are found in the US states of Oregon and Washington, along Brazil’s Atlantic coast (known as the Atlantic Forest), and on New Zealand.
Pictured: Map of the global distribution of temperate rainforests. Source: Wikipedia
Britain, especially Wales, would have featured a certain amount of these Celtic rainforests in areas that experience high moisture content coming off the ocean, and low variations in annual temperatures.
One such place is Creg y Cowin on the Isle of Man, where 28 hectares (70 acres) of native Celtic rainforest will be planted by hand, and another 8 hectares (20 acres) left to regenerate naturally.
The Manx Wildlife Trust will be responsible for the project, and it anticipates “the return of oakwood dwellers such as wood warbler, pied flycatcher, and redstart, as well as raptors, owls, and woodland invertebrates.”
Historic agricultural dwellings called “tholtans” will be left on the landscape for their historical and cultural significance.
Elsewhere, in Gwynedd, North Wales, another 40 hectares (112 acres) of Celtic rainforest will be raised via a mixture of native planting and regeneration. The selected site is the peak and slopes of Bwlch Mawr, near the university town of Byrn Mawr.
“There’s real momentum now to restore and expand our amazing temperate rainforests, and it’s brilliant to see the Wildlife Trusts advancing their plans,” Guy Shrubsole, environmental campaigner and author of The Lost Rainforests of Britain, told the Guardian in the wake of the announcements."

I think the people who complain about Engage's story are probably salty that Fire Emblem as a franchise doesn't follow 3h, specifically Edelgard's story of "all dragons bad, humanity good. All Dragons should be eliminated" shtick. They probably should've got that message when the devs said Edelgard is the bad guy and her route is the the hegemon route, but people clung too hard to "death of the author" and now they have to face reality. I haven't gotten to Engage yet but seeing a lot of the stans invalidated after years of their toxic and dangerous behavior does give me some schadenfreude.
I gotta be frank anon, I get why people don't like the story has it's very generic. If you ask me, Engage is still better constructed than Awakneing and Fates because it has at most 4 plot holes in the main story and only 2 big one and it did make me wish to strangle the writers. Engage to me is a "meh i have seen worse but I have seen better". The premise is kind of boring, the first Lumera's death is emotionless. There were moments enjoyably bad like Alear becoming the Fire emblem was the best thing in my entire life. But when I see what the writers wanted to do : they succed. I FREAKING LOVE ALEAR. THEY EVEN MANAGED TO BEAT ROBIN!! AND ROBIN WAS MY FAV AVATAR. Alear's storyline is sso good, it's the most interesting part but the problem is : the rest of the cast.
First you begin with the Stewards, but then you move with Alfred who gets the spoltlight stolen by Diamant, etc, etc. That's no good. The characters only appear superficially and that coupled with the supports grinding having become shit ever since 3 houses make it hard to interest the player in investing time into unlocking them which is a pity, because past A support, all characters got a lot of depth. Some even before. To it's credit, Engage had a much bigger cast than 3 houses so it explain why like Awakening and Fates, some of them ended up being into the background. 3 houses had 4th route so this coupled with the fact that each class had a small number of students made it easier to make everyone participates in the plot. I'd say that seeing the objective, I understand the focus on Alear, Veyle and their family. But it could have still saved it's cast by trying to make the paralogues about the units rather than the Emblems or make 2 kinds of paralogue rather than recycling the Awakening and Fates formula. But I still really enjoyed the story despite it's enormous flaws, and I think it's a bit unfair to call it this bad, when it is at worst mediocre.
As for 3 houses, not gonna lie : it's just decently written. The characters are what make the game shines, but the story in itself can either be exciting either doesn't interest you much. While playing Engage, i was not really eager to look fowards the next chapter, but it was still an enjoyable experience. 3 houses got me excited for some and not for others chapter, but it's not well written game per se.
If i could explain why, then i will say this : people will say, Fell Xenologue is better than main story, and I will disagree. Here is why : while playing I was really into it, but even after the end, it fall aparts and I saw all the holes in it. Same things for 3 houses. People tends to forgive more easily a story that has plot holes and bad construction if it has something interesting than a solid one, albeit a bit dull. That's why so many people who were shitting on Awakening and Fates now claims it's superior to Engage. But let's see, if i try to sum it up what i have :
Awakening : local crown prince recruits amnesiac person to makes them tactician and goes to war.
Fates : amnesiac child have to choose between people who are neither their actual family
3 houses : local mercenary gets hired as a teacher and has to play the arbitrary between 3 teenaged war criminals
Engage : young dragon child has to save the kindgom from the evil dragon that turns out to be their real dad.
We can all agree that Engage summed up in one sentence looks way less dumb then the previous. But the differenc is that the 3 had an execution that tooks more risk and made thing more interesting, to the point the flaws got overlooked. Awakening had a strong arc with the Plegian, the Valm arc was a filler and the last boss arc got a lot hyped. But they all feels so disconnected. Same thing for Fates, and it's worse knowing that it being a route, feels had to be connected and when it did ... plot holes all the way. 3 houses did not do better. Engage had the beneficts of having only one storyline and one goal : Sombron, always Sombron. Unlike for the 3 games where you had to fight a boss before discorvering the real ennemy, thing that 3 houses did better than Awakening and Fates, Engage was straight to the begining. Hence everything around Sombron feels more solid, constructed, it's simplier and better. This strategy allowed to avoid uncessary acts and to got strike right here, even if it did some mistakes with the Solm arc where you lose your ring because E.Veyle managed to steal the rings... don't ask me how. But each arc was at least connected and not dispateched. Making the whole thing handle like a block, even if some parts need polishing because Engage's biggest flaws was that it hold back a lot!! I will make a post on this btw.
But for 3 houses, I personally think it's way too overrated for what it is. Yes it is a good game, but there is still better. There were sooo many way to improve it. The first one was Byleth, because Shez prouved they were capable of having a self insert!! They wanted to go Personna, but it's not how self insert works IS !! I speak as VN enjoyer, you can't have the self insert without personality even if the player can choose what they say!! Just to give an example, The Murder of Sonic the hedgehog did better. The story is simple but enjoyable as heck !! The gameplay choice was just stunning as it matched with the Tails Phase and the Sonic phase being reprsentative of the character and even the self Racoon insert was fun because they were a relateble character and you could choose what they did nevertheless but the choice showed there was consicentency !! Byleth had none of this. Moreover, they are incredible passive, Shez too. I would have loved it if Byleth's relevance was not just limited to who they choosed to guide, but also HOW they did with depending on your decision, several endings !! like in classical VN. Just as an example : Claude in Hopes joing Edie in 2 routes and Dima only one Dima's route.... WHY THE HECK CAN'T SHEZ CHOOSE WHO CLAUDE SIDE WITH IN CLAUDE'S ROUTE ?!!
As for the "death of the authour" only dumbass uses this to excuse headcanon. The death of the author is a literary concept proclaimmed by Roland Barthes and Michel Foucault in order to STOP studing every pits of the author 's personal life to study a literary text, in order to stick to the text and the text only ! The only limitation it has is that it can tend to neglect the intentio auctoris of the text and it can lead to a reading different then what the author intended such as JJ Rousseau's reading of the Misanthrope to be the tragedy of Alceste instead of a comedy mocking Alceste. Not an excuse for weird agendas and pushing an interpretation over the others but an attempt at seeing what the text says. It was in order to favorise the intentio operis, not enter into the anarchy of intentio lectoris which is saddly the dominant in fandom. However, it's not so uncommon to see a villain being a hero : J. M Barrie intented Peter pan to be the devil's spawn... he is now a well beloved character by many and a symbole of childhood innocence. But sometimes, you have to listen to what the writters said to understand a story. Even if you don't like it.
So to came back to the main point : i 100% understand why some people don't like Engage's story but, from what i know the devs wanted, they succeded in their projects. And it's what matters. Could they have did better ? yep. But there is no point comparing Engage to 3 houses knowing that it did not wanted to be like that, it wanted to be what it is : Alear's story. So now i am 100% aware that it lack replay value, the characters got dirtied on and a lot of stuff. Like I said my personal ranking is : 1- Alear 2- Rafal 3- Veyle 4- Nel 5- Sombron 6 - Lumera and 7- Sommie. The dragon are what makes Engage worth talking. The characters deserves to be given a chance because there is good character : Alfred, Hortensia, Mauvier, the 4 winds. But the main story did they them too dirty to appeal. Yeah the excution has objectively flaws, but it isn't too the point Engage is that bad of a game.
I don't know much about the Eddie discourse and I will continue to remain as ignorant as possible as i personally am not that interested by that specific topic which in my opinion seems to have scared a lot of fans way for the 3 houses fan bases. But while Engage has indeed it's flaw, the hate towards the story is exagerated, especially as there is a lot of good things in it when you dig it up. Rather than blaming it on 3 house, id' say it's typicall FE behaviour since people were so busy on hating on Awakening they would not even admit it did saved the franchise, quality of the game or not, it did ! They di the same thing for Fates despite it's popularity, they even did it for 3 houses !! and then Hopes !! Now it's just Engage's turn to be the scapegoat which is a pity, because again it's not a bad game, the gamplay is good and I have been into the seires more for the strategics aspects than the story in itself, so when I am bored i grab the game and go! I totaly get why it won' t appeal to many, but still : I HAD FUN. And that's what matters. Sure, it felt like the dev did not put too much heart into it at times, but still i can feel it was intented to be for fun which makes sense, it's an aniiversary game. Would Engage be shorter it probably would have had less backlash but it still did great and I am thankful for that. But there again, Fe game always had a simple story : beat evil dragon to finish the war. Then game always managed to handle it their own way, varrying from very bad to quite good. 3 houses isn't near Shadow of Valencia however, and it was a simple story too, and it still sold less then Engage so... anyone burrying the game now is couting their chicken before they ever hatched, or in that case the dragons. There is not much place to say ngl, but still, it's been barely a year since it came out. 3 hopes did died faster but it still get some content from time to times.
Edit : I also think Engage had the curse of being released at the end of the holiday, in autumn, yk ? when people go back to work and have less times playing... especially in a post pandemic era, unlike for 3houses duology, that came in summer and then you had the pandemic to play it all day, and.. do fanworks of it all day. Would it release in summer times, the gameplay would have helped gained replayability points, it did for 3 hopes, it would have did it for Engage too since it would have give a pass time. See how Engage was the only game ever since Fates to not release in summer times ? Fates came out during summer, Three houses too, and 3 hopes too. At the end it's a like or not, but I am not gonna lie, the story works better if it was a movie then getting interrupted. It's more a grab popcorn and enjoy things then have fun on the play ground with unit, which I repeat would have been perfect for a summer release.

Do u think palestinian are somehow related to the philistines mentioned in the bible? In the bible they were also judea's enemies. Ancient philistines / caaninites inhabited modern day Gaza.
First of all, I'd like to say that I like you ask because it's a reminder that Israelites were NOT the natives of these lands and that they actually had to make space (go to war) against nations that were already there (Amorites, Canaanites, etc.). Therefore this whole "IsRaeLitEs weRe tHeRe FiRsT" narrative becomes moot lol I made a post pointing that out but tumblr nuked it
That's how I know Christians who never bothered reading THE WHOLE Old Testament because a good chuck of it is retelling the History of the kindgom(s) of Israel kicking them out these lands, fighting against them and how they were hounded by their remnants around for years and years...
But this whole genealogy thing is wicked, and there's a reason that the Bible took time to call it out in Titus 3:9
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.
Paul initially called out the fools who took pride into being descendant of Abraham (which can be linked the racialism/racial suprematism behind Zionism that I tackled a few asks before), but also about how pointless relating the dead/old things. We are new bodies in Christ. We are not our descendants. I mean, following this logic, no one beside descendants of Abraham are enemies of Israel since Israelites were god chosen people and were even forbidden to marry/fornicate with foreigners (so... 99% of the world)
It's important to note that Titus (the person to whom Paul wrote this letter) was not a Jew, so Paul was probably compelling/warning him against any attack that would be held against him for not being legitimate to carry the word of God because of his gentile lineage. This passage had a pretty anti racist undertone that might go unnoticed if you don't grasp the context of this letter.
I love how the Bible starts off with God being extremely selective as of whom He chooses to convey & perpetuate His will with (a striking example are the 8 passengers of Noah's arc - 8 people over the whole planet population!!), to become more and more accepting and available to ANYONE. This narrative culminates with the Pentecost (the Holy Spirit is shared by people of all races & nations - united, in one single place), the Ethiopian eunuch accepting the Holy Spirit (prophesizing the evangelization of African nations) 🤍🤍

THE GREAT BRITISH BREAKFAST!
"And then to breakfast, with what appetite you have." Shakespeare
The great British breakfast is famous (or notorious) throughout the world! Actually nowadays it is a bit of a myth, today many British people are more likely to have a bowl of cornflakes or a cup of coffee with a cigarette than to indulge in the wonders of this feast!
However that is not to say that the traditional breakfast is dead, far from it, it's just not often eaten every day of the week. Speaking as a true Brit I occassionally push the boat out and treat myself to the full monty (not to be confused with the film of the same name).
The typical English breakfast is a 19th century invention, when the majority of English people adopted the copious meal of porridge, fish, bacon and eggs, toast and marmalade, that has now appeared on English breakfast tables for 100 years.
The annual consumption in the United Kindgom is 450,000 tonnes of bacon, 5,000 tonnes of sausages and millions of eggs, so you can see the Great British Breakfast is very much alive and well. It has retained its popularity as one of the country's favourite meals, and survived a whole series of eating trends and food fads.
Mrs Beeton would have recommended a large list of foods for breakfast such as, bread, rolls, toast, toasted teacakes, Sally Lunns; eggs cooked in various ways; fish, baked halibut steaks, fried whiting, broiled fresh herrings, soused herrings, fishcakes, broiled kippers, 'Findon' haddock, sprats fried in butter, fish kedgeree, fried salmon, salmon pie, baked lobster, codfish pie, cod's steak, croquettes of cod's roe, herrings stuffed with fish. Fruit such as stewed figs, stewed prunes, and fresh fruits in season. Game and pheasant legs, brawn, devilled drumsticks, and meat dishes both hot and cold, such as collared tongue, kidneys on toast, sausages with fried bread, pig's cheek, Melton pork pie, ham, galantine, spiced brisket, pressed beef...
So what does the great British breakfast consist of nowadays?
Simpsons in the Strand, a well know (and expensive) restaurant, serves breakfast daily. Their full English breakfast consists of the following:-
The GREAT BRITISH BREAKFAST at £13.95 includes:- Toast with jam or marmalade, pastries, fresh orange juice, freshly brewed coffee, a choice of cereals, porridge, stewed fruit or half a grapefruit, The Simpson’s Cumberland sausage, scrambled egg, streaky and back bacon, black pudding, grilled mushrooms and tomato and a daily newspaper (not for consumption).
In addition to the GREAT BRITISH BREAKFAST, for serious breakfast eaters, Simpson's offers THE TEN DEADLY SINS - at £15.95 per person this includes: Toast with jam or marmalade, pastries, fresh orange juice, freshly brewed coffee Choice of cereals, porridge, stewed fruit or half a grapefruit The Simpson’s Cumberland sausage, fried egg, streaky and back bacon, black pudding, lamb’s kidneys, fried bread, liver, bubble & squeak, baked beans, grilled mushrooms and tomato.
Hand, L.R. (2019). British Food - British culture, customs and traditions. [online] Learnenglish.de. Available at: https://www.learnenglish.de/culture/foodculture.html.
Guests may also choose from an à la carte selection of classic breakfast dishes such as: Smoked Haddock Kedgeree; Poached Finan Haddock; Quail’s eggs with haddock; Smoked Salmon with Scrambled Eggs; Grilled sirloin steak with grilled mushrooms and tomato and welsh rarebit. There is also a selection of plain, cheese, bacon, herb, mushroom and smoked salmon omelet

fe3h route thoughts from reddit
I like White Clouds, it has better map design. Because the game devs had to design around unfinished/non optimal units the devs used the fewer number of elements of the maps better. Take for example the ch1 mock battle which often involves a lot of weapon swapping and high level tactics especially on maddening challenge rounds despite only having a few enemies and small map. I also enjoy the setup and mystery elements of White Clouds, this is sadly dropped or de-emphasized in some routes, Azure Moon especially which drops all the interesting mystery plot threads dead on the ground in favor of the dimitri angst drama chronicles.
Oh Golden Wildfire... let's take the nation with the most decentralized power structure and the only one that's not a monarchy but ruled by council vote and turn that into an absolute monarchy because check and balances on power are bad <-some instsys writer. Too bad the writers love Three Kindgoms too much and wanted a Unification story. It's a real weakness that the writers have such a strong personal bias towards absolute monarchies and unification as a solution over peaceful alliance. You can see this tendency especially in Three Hopes.
Most people play only one fe3h route. Add to this that most people choose their first route based on which house leader they like best, and you get this self reinforcing effect. One of the reasons I like the fe3h sub is the relatively high percentage of people who have played multiple routes. …yes people complain LOUDLY about and especially about routes they haven't played.
you should have seen the old dimitristan vs edelgardstan fandom wars, "am has the best story" "cf has the best story" "if you disagree with me you're wrong" some of the worst arguments I have ever seen, just incredibly bad faith arguments, immaturity, pettiness, and just stupid arguments. I'd also like to point out that most people chose their first route based on which house leader they like best. So it goes both ways that a first route can color a person's perspective AND certain people tend to gravitate towards doing certain routes first because they already like some characters over others. Let me give you some fandom history please note this was only ever a minority of fans but man were they loud, so loud I just stayed out of fe3h spaces for like 2 years. The rabid AM dimitri stans went to bat for am "best story" "best character" etc. etc. and some said negative things about edelgard and of course if you disagreed with them they would scream and cry and cyberbully you. The thing with the rabid CF edelgard stans is that they are wildly defensive about edelgard "edelgard did nothing wrong", if you said anything except that she was the best and right about everything they would bully you off the internet. So of course immovable object meets unstoppable force and thus started some of the stupidest arguments I have seen in my life. This went on for a couple years.
ahh I remember the first like 2 years after release when the Edelgard stans and Dimitri stans were at war with each other and it was some of the worst arguments and the moment I said that all 4 routes have their different merits and flaws they both attacked me. So I stayed as far away from CF and AM discussion as possible. Probably helped that VW is my favorite route so I mostly stayed in that small bubble. I like political drama, worldbuilding, and the broader perspective VW. I liked how VW had a more systematic perspective on the problems of Fodlan and highlighted the connections between everything. And I like Claude.
As for Verdant Wind fans and even more rare Silver Snow, these routes are lore heavy so they tend to attract more of the analytical lore and worldbuilding loving type of people aka people who are less interested in fighting over who is best boy/girl. They are also broader in view so fans of these routes are more likely to have played all the routes vs. how a significant portion of CF and AM fans refuse to play other routes. You see these people even in this sub occasionally (this sub which has a high rate of multiple route completion), I think just last month there was a post about someone who could never see themselves playing another route outside of... I think it was CF(?).
AM hinges on the player being invested in Dimitri so those who love Dimitri love the route and those who don't like him will find the route boring and frustrating. I'd say that one topic focus of AM is also a weakness since everything hinges on the player caring and being invested about Dimitri which isn't a guarantee since character preference is personal so so for anyone who doesn't like Dimitri AM is just an exercise in frustration and boredom. Blue Lions White Clouds actually sets up several plot threads like the generational trauma and customs of Faerghus as presented through the secondary cast, White Clouds is the most integrated with the blue lions after all with chapters specifically for both Ashe and Sylvain, there's also the mystery of the Tragedy of Duscar among other plot threads. And all that is dropped dead on the ground and forgotten about in part 2 Azure Moon in favor of Dimitri's personal drama. So all the other things that could have helped hold played interest are left to rot and there's only Dimitri left to carry the story which is fine if the player likes Dimitri and near unplayable if they don't.
I saw someone saying just "Claude" and then not elaborating when asked which lord you agree with most. Spoken with the wisdom of a war veteran. I see you too have known the trenches.

I just got into reading the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
I really like the anime, Mappa's animators are incredible.
Buy I never really got into the manta because I don't enjoy the style. I don't even enjoy the story that much.
And I just got to chapter 136, where it says that Japan's is the only nation capable of training cursed users and energy.
And I hate it.
1, it goes against what is stated at the beginning of the manga, saying that cursed users are every day less and less.
And
2, it just shows the lack of research and understanding of the world.
The Caribbean, many countries in Africa, India, countries in South America, Mexico, Phillipines and many other countries on South East Asia. All of this are, to this day, are culturally rich, not only for traditions, but the rituals and mythologies they interweave into their mysticism.
The Loa and their curses that go from New Orleans and all the Caribbean. The Santeria used in Mexico and Latin America.
Magic and protection spells, curses. Necromancy. Monsters and creatures.
And the mangaka just says Middle East and America.
Wtf?
Shaman King showed way more respect than that.
Maybe this is a result of Japan becoming increasingly isolationist.
It is a true shame, when an author crafts a nice magic system, and it just says. "Oh, it only works here because we are special."
It reminds me of one particular someone in the United Kindgom.
