Vague concept doodles I was playing w/ for the idea of what spider syndrome might look like in satyrs . Kinda couldn't really make these look right though, just like the actual guy's design
#hoof draws#idk. misc worldbuilding ig#interesting to consider what 'common' mutations/conditions might look like in satyrs#or whether they would have unique medical problems just based on their nature as hybrids...#also for context --- syndrome which effects bone growth and makes the legs abnormally long/thin- making it hard to walk/nurse

LONG POST WARNING!
My biggest pet peeve regarding Helluva Boss is how similar all of the imps look despite the fact that the rings are different and add defining traits to seemingly every other denizen of said ring... except for imps.
Millie is a Wrathian imp- an imp subclass known for their strength- so why does she look nearly identical to Moxxie, who hails from the greed ring?
Furthermore, you'd think Moxxie, an imp who was IN A MAFIA IN THE MOST CRIME-RAMPANT RING OF HELL would have more scars than the rest of his workforce combined, but he does not. And I can put that aside because of his lore, but no other imp we see in Greed (or just in general) comes close to being as scarred as Blitzø is.
When we get a unique imp in this show, their features have nothing to do with their ring of origin (in the event that their origin is confirmed at all)– at the most they're just taller than normal or have a unique hairstyle. There's the scarring, but again, that's a surface feature and isn't really reflective of the ring an imp was born in.
Striker is the most unique imp we have in the show with birth features that set him apart from other imps (assuming he's a purebred and not some kind of hybrid). Other than Striker we have no imps whose physical appearance seems to correlate with where they're from, and that's weird to me because why distinguish that imps can come from different rings if they're all going to look more or less the same?
I understand that all imps have to have some kind of identical trait so that we can recognize them when we see them on screen, but Vivienne can't seem to pick what she wants that trait to be- assuming she wants to actually differentiate the imps at all.
At the end of the day it's not a huge deal, I guess. I don't watch Helluva Boss actively thinking about how the only distinguishing traits between the imps are more or less skin-deep, but it's one of those things where when I do think about it, it bugs me.
Which is the case with most things in this show, to be honest 🙊
#helluva boss#helluva boss criticism#helluva boss critical#helluva boss millie#helluva boss moxxie#helluva boss blitzø#helluva boss blitz#helluva boss striker#i don't know if succubi count as imps but i'm not talking about them#the trans imps are pretty unique but i reiterate that there is no confirmed physical classifications for imps#this show is not worldbuilding friendly

i wonder if cognates are actually as rare as they seem. with the one on one sessions, the rarity of telepathy itself, and how little contact they seem to have with each other (though this is a grey area--we don't see how much they interact outside sophie's atypical circle), i wonder if more telepaths would find cognates if they simply like. talked to each other more
#kotlc#kotlc worldbuilding#i imagine most telepaths meet during assignments#since it's rare. and you might not have anyone else at foxfire at the same time as you#so it's not until adulthood you meet another who isn't your mentor for most#(sophie and fitz are unique)#and then you just have brief contact during your assignments#you're just colleagues#you do the job and go your separate ways#but perhaps if they actually like. interacted outside of that#or perhaps telepaths try to become cognates with everyone they meet but that doesn't seem to be the approach#idk#who knows#i'm just ruminating

Minecraft feels like it doesn’t know what to do for big updates any more so they’re doing like small miscellaneous updates collected together. I wish they’d move on from trying to give them a theme bc I feel like that’s just confusing.
One thing I wish they’d do is do updates from time to time and go back and add pieces to old update. Like maybe add more fish or tree types.
Specifically what made me have this thought is that I’d love if they’d add more to the geodes. Like the amethysts are lovely but I’d love if there was a whole range of crystals to find in geodes!! I feel like that’s along the line of the archaeological stuff they’ve done recently! Digging into the earth for history and stuff!
Also if they ever do a forest update I’d freak out. I’d love if they revamped their nature bc I feel like that part of the over world specifically has been the same since the beginning era of minecraft. Like ocean, nether, caves, villages, NOW FOREST. And end.
Feels like natural progression of their universe growing! And I like feeling like the updates can have a “story” like aspect to me. Especially bc worldbuilding. Favorite idea when it comes to minecraft lore
#mineblr#Minecraft#Minecraft game development#Minecraft updates#minecraft lore#minecraft worldbuilding#minecraft caves#minecraft crystals#ROCKS ROCKS AND MORE ROCKS#like if they could add to the andesite granite diorite thing too with like limestone and other minerals#MINERAL ROCK UPDATE#GEOLOGY UPDATE#they could add like volcanic and igneous rocks to the nether??? l#I like this idea very very much#minecraft and game development are my special interests#and worldbuilding but that’s like a part of those and my storytelling spins#I feel like there’s some things in minecraft that people love to add thru mods that mods shouldn’t be necessary for#like more biomes! I get biome design or unique biomes but give plains and forests more flavor!#or forest animals! OR BUGS ADD BUGS#I get mods for dungeons or cute decoration but simple worldbuilding shouldn’t need mods#I’m getting frustrated with being dissatisfied with vanilla minecraft when all I want are more variability to blocks and biome expansion!#often times mods are too complex and add too much over vanilla minecraft when I like vanilla minecraft#it’s just after all this time especially with cave and cliffs added the nature feels behind and too simple

Chosen: The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
Dark: And Second! We should fear them as well!
Chosen: ...?
Dark, grabbing Chosen's shoulders: No, you don't understand Cho. The other day, I saw him drink liquid energy, which can kill a grown Stick in moments, and survive.
Chosen: WHAT?!

is there an accepted collective name for waddle dees? for when they're in a group; like how you have a flock or birds or a pack of wolves?
if not can i formally suggest: wuddle.
because it's cute and sounds like a puddle of waddle dees. but also because it's similar to 'huddle' which is used for stationary penguins on land. (penguins are in fact actually collectively called a 'waddle' when they're walking, so there is... you know. That.)
#just like... say it out loud. wuddle. a wuddle of waddle dees. fun and silly!#i could also just go for the more basic 'flock' because it suits my Bird Autism Beam agenda. or 'colony' to pare it right down#but don't they deserve a unique term all of their own?? i figure??#theories and thoughts#i might just go ahead and add this to:#my headcanons and worldbuilding

Speaking of Inko.
The differences between how Inko reacted/responded to Izuku’s quirkless compared to how Mrs./Mr. Aoyama reacted/responded Yuga’s quirkless is so interesting. Honestly, I wish there was a scene or something where Inko interacted with Mrs./Mr. Aoyama. The fact that Izuku could’ve ended up in Yuga’s situation is so so interesting. (You know what, I kinda need a fic where Izuku is the UA Spy and Yuga is the ninth user of OFA now tbh)
Also, I really wish that Inko got to interact with David and/or Melissa.
Actually, both yuuga and Izuku's parents have very similar responses to their child being quirkless and have very similar responses when their child gets a quirk.
There is this idea in MHA that being quirkless would bring the child a life of pain as they aren't able to fit in with their peers and the parents of these children take this incredibly seriously as we see with inko breaking down and yuuga's parents going to extreme measures to make sure their son does indeed fit in.
I think a key interpretation as to why the parents think this way is because the idea of a quirk and actually the translation for the word quirk in the early chapters was labelled as an "individuality," meaning something that makes the person unique. A quirk is essentially viewed as something that makes the person them, so its an int and contradicting idea that someone has to be unique, has to have a different power to fit in and if they don't have this power they won't be able to fit into society and will be shunned. Essentially, I find Ochako's comment about calling izuku plain interesting in the context of her talking about Izuku, who has only recently gotten a quirk. He is plain because he lacks an individuality/quirk that is his. He doesn't stand out because he doesn't have a quirk or power to make him a person in a society that label's and treats people so differently due to their quirks.
Again, the idea ends up being interesting and contradictory because someone who doesn't have individuality should be able to fit in, right? I mean, they are essentially perfect molds, no? However, mha focuses on the idea that quirkless people or people without individuality are invisible and rather have a lot of their capabilities hindered especially socially and economically.

Both parents are relieved when their child does get a quirk. However, that relief quickly fades away as they learn the price that they must pay for their child to fit in. A price far too great, one where the child has to sacrifice so much.
Both of these parents come to the conclusion that it would have been better for their children to stay quirkless. Both of these parents are happy that their child can chase their dreams bud realising the costs they would of begged for their children to stay quirkless.
Yuuga's parents say that they want to give him a chance at letting him chase his dreams, inko saying something similar when izuku gets a quirk and she becomes supportive of his dream. However, the quick fade as both parents see the reality of that dream and how both of their children are too deep in to get out, they try to do something but ultimately fail.

Alas, the only parent who actually has a positive reaction and is shown to be incredibly supportive of their quirkless child is David.
You can read the one-shot chapter here
However, I think that even with this, there is still the obvious theme because of your quirklessness you won't be able to chase your dreams and you won't be able to fit in with the other kids whether that be in all of you sharing the goal to be a hero or even when playing the popular kid game of heroes and villains that is shown in Melissa's chapter.

#mha#bnha#mha critical#bnha critical#thanks for the ask#thanks for the ask!#bhna critical#thanks anon#thanks anon!#quirkless discrimination isnt a consistent thing which is a shame#quirkless discrimination#lack of worldbuilding does this#however#the fear of not fitting in is a big thing in mha#which is wild because the whole point of a quirk revolves around individuality and being unique#mha meta#yuuga and izuku parallels#they got me on a chokehold currently

SEEKERS
Many Seekers have been made over the course of the war. They were the first factory-produced cold-constructs in history- before them, the only cold-cons' were the occasional passion products between scientists and scholars- Prowl is one of those success stories. I heard he and Tarantulas were woking on something before the war kicked off, but it must've been destroyed along with the rest of the lab. I managed to dig up this old root mode blueprint of Vos's Jewels- the original Seeker, before they were made for war. The current Elite Trine are the last remaining ones, from what i've seen. Figured I better start compiling frame types and their histories, just in case. - Wheeljack
#something quick and simple while i work on the comic#im gonna slowly start making more and more worldbuilding and history posts#to flesh out this iteration and make something unique for it#anyway#enjoy the origin of seekers!#transformers seekers#tfhomebound#tfhb#thundercracker#tf thundercracker#tf starscream#starscream

the thing I’m very interested to see is Harding’s relationship to other dwarves as her weird magic manifests.
she’s a surfacer; I feel like no matter what happens, Orzammar dwarves are going to point at her as an example, saying, “this is what happens when you lose your stone sense, you basically become a human, and this is why you should stay underground because we’re safe down here”
#dragon age#datv spoilers#lace harding#i’m of two minds about this bc like. on one hand hell yeah dwarf magic. titan connection. etc#on the other hand. she doesn’t really have a connection to any of that lol#the thing abt stone sense and the titan connection makes sense when you are surrounded by lyrium underground#but she was born in redcliffe#i hope we get to see what’s going on underground. i’ve been waiting to see kal sharok forever#but i also kind of want to go back to orzammar#because at this point i genuinely don’t know!! if it’s dwarf magic reawakening or if it’s just going to be#exactly what my hypothetical orzammar guy says lol. magic is EVERYWHERE with the veil falling#and she’s not safe BECAUSE she wasn’t born underground#i want it to be unique but uhhh dragon age worldbuilding tendency to ignore dwarves and put elves behind everything#i guess we’ll see#mine#harding

Y'all I have to tell you, every time I see the term "Pyre" used as a name for blazeborn family units (like "flock" for avians), I do a little happy dance. I came up with it for a friend's Rancher fic like two years ago by now and I keep seeing it pop up in new Tango fics, and I friggin' LOVE IT. Keep it up guys, you're making my little worldbuilding heart so damn happy 🥰
#Hermitcraft#Pixie Rambles#TangoTek#Team Rancher#Flocks & Pyres#yeah I'll tag it lol it's a fave of mine#MCYT Worldbuilding#KEEP IN MIND this was back when people were trying to figure out a good blazeborn term for that#and lots of people were bouncing between Pack and Herd and other things#and my friend and I were like ''what if it was fire though'' because we wanted something better#blazeborns are so unique they deserved a unique family unit name

to be fair i think the reasons why i believe quadrants r fake versus why i believe classpects r fake are pretty crucially different. like homestuck kind of goes out of its way to trick you into thinking classpects could be real whereas i genuinely dont think hussie ever expected anyone to read about moirallegience and think wow... so romantic.. i want that in my life ❤ LOL
#i saw oomf today mention the difference between 'quadrants as they serve the narrative' and 'quadrants as they serve the fans'#which i thought was interesting because obviously the way classpects captivated the audience was actually very similar...#i guess homestuck is not unique in this regard like. steven universe has its gems#rpg classes in general kind of permeate the popular culture because they serve this exact purpose#but i have to wonder how much of it is because homestuck is a story about telling stories#and therefore just has all these fucking worldbuilding tools lying around. ofc people are going to scavenge that shit#man this is probably why so many people see homestuck as a wreck that needs their 'fixing' too#like i know. again. this is not an affliction that belongs to homestuck alone#but i think it's easy for some readers to get lost in all the interesting worldbuilding without realising that the worldbuilding is there#in order to make a comment ON WORLDBUILDING ITSELF#</rant>

2024 reads / storygraph
The Gods Below
high fantasy, start of a series
a world in ruins after a divine war, which ended with one god taking over and slowly spreading magical Restoration - rejuvenating the land, but transforming any any humans who survive
follows two sisters who are separated when the Restoration sweeps through their home: one who becomes a sinkhole miner, collecting precious gems, who becomes part of a resistance when she discovers she can channel the magic from them
and her younger sister who becomes changed, and is rescued by a woman who trains her into a devoted godkiller, hunting down all other remaining gods
as well as an inventor traveling deep into the earth with his best friend, in hopes of finding the gods’ realm to find a cure for her sickness, and his cousin, searching for a way to restore her family’s ruined reputation
and a god far in the past, at the beginning of the war
bi, aro, m/f & f/f
#the gods below#andrea stewart#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#Really inventive high fantasy world with some fascinating worldbuilding concepts and interesting characters#Mullayne’s narrative felt more unique and separate from the rest but it might have been my favourite. Or maybe that’s just the aromanticism#(only briefly discussed but clearly aro - probably aroace? but (lack of) romance is what is explicitly discussed)#I’m definitely hoping for more of the sister relationship next book#I did find it odd that some characters were in first person POV and some were in third. I generally prefer consistency in that#Did the sapphic relationship come out of nowhere a bit? yeah.#but also it doesn’t claim to be anything other than a sudden connnection. i'm not mad about it. uhaul etc#i do have very little patience for brooding immortal winged man love interests. the soft spot for cats does not change this.#so I found that other relationship a bit boring.
