Do you guys notice how when Shawn Fain, president of the United Auto Workers union, started planning a general strike, he did it by a) targeting his messaging towards unions with the ability to safely and effectively strike in large numbers, b) laid out a clear, actionable plan for those unions to follow (setting contracts to all expire at the same time, since many unions cannot strike while under contract), c) is using union contracts to set clear, actionable demands that can be met in order to gauge success and provide an end goal, and d) started organizing FOUR YEARS before the proposed strike date to give people the chance to plan accordingly, because it takes a really freaking long time to get tens of millions of people organized?

You notice how he didn't do it by slapping a message on Twitter saying 'hey nobody go to work on Monday, that'll really show 'em'?

I did! Honestly, I'll have to be real with you, I have no strong feelings about it.

While I've criticized certain statements of hers in the past (that bit about Tom the Wifebeater was a doozy), I don't know her personally. I also don't even know how much control she had, functionally. I don't feel like I have enough information to have a well-based opinion, here.

What sticks out most to be is the fact that... well, with Kate and Vicky gone, only Cherith remains and we've lost any small window we did have into the writing process.

It's been a long time since we'd just get casual information drops on places like Facebook or authorial chats, but with this, it feels like that era truly is dead. We will never again get another Su Susann's Missing Kits drop, or a letter to a fan that tosses up a name like "Skunkpaw," or the writers sharing their good and bad takes. Or anything else like that.

Dgmw it's understandable, and I can guess why that era ended (probably the Spottedleaf's Heart controversy, and the ukraine windclan thing). WC is charted by an unknown collective team, now, who generally keeps their anonymity well-guarded. It's probably for the best.

So... on the subject of Kate Cary stepping down, I thank her for the work she's done and hope her future pursuits are fulfilling! Without her, WC might not be here today. For all the yowling and growling I do, I wouldn't be putting so much effort into my various projects if I didn't profoundly love the series she helped to form.

I think half of all Lancer arguments on this site could be resolved by internalizing the fact that all of the "good" factions have flaws and its fine for those flaws to be disqualifying for some people. We don't all have to agree on this.

Evan blinks, then his eyes light up. “You’re the one with the plane.”

“That’s me,” Tommy agrees. It’s the most uncomplicated smile he’s gotten from Evan yet, and the effect is a little heartstopping. “I worked with Captain Nash for a year and change. Worked with Chimney, Hen Wilson, Seb Rodriguez– are Mitch and Ortega still there?”

“Ortega is, Mitch retired.”

“Huh. Can’t picture one of them without the other.” Tommy watches Evan closely as he asks, “How do you like Captain Nash?”

Evan hunches, fidgets, looks down and away – yeah, Tommy knows that look. Respects his captain, can’t point to anything really wrong, but always feels out of step because–

“I thought he was my friend,” Evan says, tragic and wobbly. Tommy pauses his train of thought. Then pauses the next one about scooping Evan into his arms and kissing the sadness out of him.

Finally found someone who understands loumand amongst the loumand never loved eachother discourse, feel like I'm going crazy armand loved him (not defending his actions) and i believe louis loved him too in paris and i wanna say after too even if that love was tainted, or faded by the time they're in dubai that doesn't mean they never loved eachother.

They're beautiful and complex! I can't say I'm surprised they aren't a popular dynamic but the unwillingness to engage with their story is what upsets me the most. If you take away the love they share then absolutely nothing either of them do in those 77 years together never meant anything in the first place.

Honestly, the biggest crime of Anti-Loumand readings is that they are wildly boring. Like okay, Louis has absolutely no agency whatsoever, or he's staying with Armand for Claudia but he can't even do that right because he refuses to stand up for her where it actually matters, but also stays with Armand even when he tells him to get out of Paris to....spite Lestat??? And Armand is just....what? Blanket evil with no real motive but to keep Louis like a pathetic goldfish in an gallon tank. Why would you want that, when the story being written is much more interesting? Louis who is troubled yet still wanting, drawn to Armand and despite his reservations and self-doubt finding himself loving Armand despite it all. In each-other they both see something they want and believe they can obtain it if they can possess the other. Armand is dazzled continuously by Louis zest for life, even if he often times doesn't understand the forms it takes. I adore how they each have these pivotal moments where they are disarmed by the others vulnerability. Armand hearing Louis advocate for Claudia in the sewers and deciding not to kill him. Louis hearing Armand talk about his past and choosing to stay in Paris, despite the imminent dangers.

Like of course, they are far far far from perfect, and by Dubai they are both such shells of the people they actually are. And why I keep hope alive about Trinity Gate or really any loumand reunion. The two of them getting to meet again when they have both rediscovered themselves, and seeing each other in new lights would be everything to me. But yeah, truly nothing could make me hate them. I could sit here and wax poetic about them forever, frankly. And I absolutely will continue to on this blog lmaooo.

Sure, you show up when people are organizing picket lines and protests that'll be covered in the news, but do you ever go to the fucking organizing meetings? Do you have any idea what's going on between the high-profile actions? Do you know what other tasks need volunteers? Or are you just there for the things that are "fun" and get attention from outside observers?
