I was doing a small Gilgamesh bride drawing to test out how waterproof uniball Signo DX pens and am now impressed with how they are holding up. I also used some Sakura pen liners to get details.
Now I am in a bind; I was originally going to paint a deep pthalo blue top veil, but looking at it I imagined how nice it would look purple.
(The arm thing is supposed to be a champagne sleek arm thing. I also wanted to try drawing fancier jewelry from countries that are around the area Uruk used to be. Unfortunately, I am not good at drawing jewelry.)
Something similar to the ones below but more of a big choker design and some turqoise blue cloth underneath for comfort.

So which color is the best fit for the final look?

What is your main drawing medium?
I don't really have a main medium so much as a bunch of mediums I use for different reasons.
For most of the art I put here and just stuff with fun colors, gel pens in a sketchbook. I like using the bright colors and layering them on top of each other as I make my pictures. My favorites are Uniball Signo DX, because they make sharp clean lines and come in lots of colors, but other cheaper brands are great too.
I also doodle and sketch a lot with mechanical pencils, and that's what I carry around with me so I can draw in my pocketbook sketchbook when I'm stuck waiting.
I also can do digital art. I have a drawing tablet and use photoshop for pictures I am doing in a more professional setting.
For fancy gifts and art contests I'll use oil pastels on canvas board for pictures. I made pictures like that for my sister's wedding present and an art contest for the Steeple Chase.
I'm also pretty good with markers and colored pencils too, but I haven't used them much recently.

Hi, again, Ro! Which pens are your favorite to write with? I love stationary. I find it oddly calming.❤️
haiiiii beloved!!!! stationery is so so fun omg!! also take these with a pinch of salt because i’m not like. a connoisseur or anything but these are my favourite pens that i’ve used and bought again after they ran out!!
uniball signo gel stick 0.7 — i love a good gel pen and i used these from the ages of i think 17/18 to 22/23 religiously whenever it came to journaling. i think the ink flows really nicely, and i liked them enough to buy them in bulk every year or so, so that i’d have enough because i went through these soo fast
pilot g-2 0.7 — i really like this pen too!! i used it for writing in my notebooks when i was planning out fics and stuff, and i repurchased them a week or so ago and i’ve been really liking it!! i use this one as my primary journaling pen now, but i do miss my uniball one sometimes!!
pentel energel bl107 0.7 — another pen i repurchased because i went through it so easily!! i think gel pens write pretty smoothly for me and these last three have been pretty good about not smudging and drying quickly!! also another pen i used to outline my fics with and really liked
bic round stic — ballpoint which i bought in bulk when i was 19 that i have yet to empty but still reach for because it’s my uni go to when i’m planning out assignments or doing mock exams. a little uncomfortable though if you’re writing for a long time straight, and i think it’s probably a better pen for like. spur of the moment, taking down a note type thing but it’s still a good pen!
uniball signo dx 0.38 — i typically like a thicker pen but i like the ink on these!! i have them in black, prussian blue and light pink and i like them well enough!!
pilot juice 0.5 — love this pen!! i have it in pink and red and i’ve used them to outline fics a few times or just write down excerpts when i’m feeling the need to make it a bit funner or trying to jog my writing sense lol. i feel like writing nonsense feels less frustrating when it’s in a fun colour and cursive red ink feels romantic to me!!
anyway i hope this helps angel!!! if you have any stationery or pen recs i’d love to hear them too!!

(Old Art 2021-03-27) Colored Gesture Drawing- Sirius Kitty Sleeping
Another gesture drawing of Sirius Kitty for my Spring 2021 intro 2D animation class.
🛑Kitty doesn’t have bald spots/burns; that’s unfinished coloring😳. I tried to quickly finish, but Sirius Kitty moved before then.😅
Also, color and markers weren’t required, but I still wanted to play around with my newly-bought markers. (Also, I bought them for that Spring 2021 class to begin with bc 1) to get free Amazon shipping😅 and 2) to help me with doing original character sketches/concepts (that class was part of what got me into traditional art supplies).
ART SUPPLIES
Linework: Uniball Signo DX (Blue-Black, 0.5mm)
Colors: Caliart Alcohol brush & chisel tip markers (from 51 pack)
-R000 (Skin White): warm shadows (undertone)
-R301 (Blush): belly and inner ear
-B003 (Sky Blue): blue highlights/diffused light (undertone)
-CGII04 (Cool Grey II 4): black fur midtone
-CGII07 (Cool Grey II 7): black fur darker midtone
-S (Black): [attempted] black fur

i use pens that can be refilled, so here are some recs!
uni jetstream: ballpoint pen, probably the smoothest pen i've ever used. it also dries fast.
uniball signo dx: gel pen, writes smoothly, and dries relatively fast. i'd say they're smaller than the average pen.
pilot G2: gel pen, writes smoothly, but it takes awhile to dry and might bleed through thin paper.
you still have to throw away the refills, but they're smaller than the actual pen.
and if you're just looking for a cheap pen, bic's round stick line is a pretty good option. i also like drawing with these!
So, uh, question.
First some context: I am trying to declutter my room, and it turns out I have a lot of old pens of various brands that don't have any ink left. So with that being said:
Reblogs are appreciated to get more opinions, but it's up to you. Also, feel free to elaborate on your answers in the tags or comments!

Self-Care JetPens Haul
This month has been A Lot. I’ve been trying to force myself to love some supplies I got last year (Midori notebooks, Spectrum Noir Sparkle Brush Pens) and use up some of my stash (Hi Tec C Maicas) and I just haven’t been feeling it. So I bought some new stuff that I was pretty sure I would like better.
Tumblr media
First up: Uniball Signo DX 20 color set from JetPens
Tumblr media
Another WITCH contributor recommended these in our group chat, so I wanted to give them a try. I love the colors, and I like the thin weight (0.38). I haven’t tested them extensively, but the one I did was very smooth with no jitter even on the first write. So far, so good! I definitely think these will be a good replacement for the Hi Tec C Maicas, which are beautiful but such a disappointment in execution.
Pentel Dual Metallic Brush
Tumblr media
A Japanese calligrapher on Instagram I follow uses these and I’ve been coveting them for a while. They’re a lot easier to prime than the Spectrum Noirs I got for Christmas, and the tip is a lot smaller. Oh, and I love the output so much, they’re exactly what I wanted.
Tumblr media
(I really need to practice my shodo, this is bad, but you can see the shimmer).
Rhodia Rhodiarama A5 Webnotebook in Turquoise with Dots
Tumblr media
I already had one of these in their purple shade and I just love it. I’m going to use the purple one and then this one for work. I love that Clairefontaine paper, the dot grid, so much more than the Midoris I’ve been working with (sorry, Midori!).
Tumblr media
This is a piston converter for the Lamy pen I got for Christmas, so I can use third party inks. I was really excited about this one, and it’s actually how I justified buying all this other stuff. You can see a little sample of the Lamy vs Twisby Eco output here. I got a medium nib for the Lamy, which might still not be thick enough for the shimmer ink I’m using, but I didn’t fill it that carefully so we’ll see.
Tumblr media
And an impulse purchase: PuniLabo pen case: Otter.
Tumblr media
Otters are one of my favorite animals so there was a very low likelihood that this wasn’t going to delight. It’s very cute, and more functional than I thought. You can push the little nub in at the bottom and the case stands on its own on your desk.
Nub sticking out:
Tumblr media
Nub pushed in, sits stably on a surface.
Tumblr media
The nub also leads to a hilarious warning image from the packaging (I love Japanese goods for the heavy text they use even for what seems like the most obvious items). This is warning users never to push the nub with pens in it and the top open into your own face or aiming it at others, because the pens could shoot out.
Tumblr media
All in all, I’m extremely satisfied with this haul. Happy writing! --waffle

Theres a brand called Fiskar’s that has a set of pens that have neons in it. I dont think you can buy them separately all of them together are like $20
Sharpie (ultra)fine are also pretty good they got some vibrant options and i think they dont bleed TOO much as long as you’re light with it I think
I also like the uniball signo Dx .38 pens they’re super vibrant and there are a few metallic and neon types, I think you have to buy these in a set as well, whether its for multiple colors or duplicats which can range from like $9-24
all of these prices are from amazon so buying them in a store might be better especially given how many “sketchy” (haha) listings there seems to be
bic is also pretty good they got some like colors one of which i know is a neon green
The Fiskars are really the only like NEON neon colors that I’ve seen though
Is there a brand of pen, maybe ballpoint, that’s pretty close to neon? I wanna make neon traditional art but I don’t wanna just use highlighters lol

Hi!
Do you have any tips on how to start annotating books?
I did it once for a British literature class and loved it! But the problem is, I was annotating poetry, and I’m not sure how to do that for non-poetry books.
Thanks for your time! Love your tumblr page too! :)
P.S. if you r got any poet or poetry Rex commendations, please send that too! :) I can never get enough poetry lol
Thank you so much for the question! 💚
First of all, I’m a minimalist at heart so I prefer to use just a pen, a ruler of some sorts (I’ve used a metal ruler but recently have been using the plastic edge of the tabs base I have) and the tabs are a recent addition as well, but I don’t tab or annotate every book I read.
My pen of preference is a green UniBall Signo DX in size 0.38, because I like the contrast from the white and black of the page, but any pen or pencil one is most comfortable using will work just as fine!
I annotate in two ways - by underlining and by notes.
• Underline ~~~ usually is used as a way to note a specific mood, more poetic language, description and or just a sentence that provides a vibe or atmosphere for what is happening.
• Underline —— usually is used to highlight important passages for plot development, character development, details
• Note in cursive is usually my personal comments, questions, ideas and comments from me subjectively and as my reading experience
• Note in capital letters is usually rewording or noting in the side an important detail in other words, usually to shorten a paragraph into condensed information about it
Only recently I have started adding tabs to my annotations.
I usually use a coloured thicker tab for ideas worth exploring and discussing more, usually that involves a theme the book seems to focus on
The slim black tab I use for important moments for the MC character, development, important characteristic that’s highlighted in an interesting way or similar
Regarding poetry - I don’t read enough of it myself and for that reason, I was gifted a book of complete works by William Blake so hopefully I’ll read it soon!

i used to be a muji girl... specifically the 0.38 gel ink ones with the white barrels u know the ones... like i really was that girl and i still am a muji girl when im filling out my school planner from target (not my hobonichi cousin or my archer and olive dotted notebook with a gold fox on the front bc i cant have bleed/smudging on those) but now i have switched to the uniball signo dx 0.38 which is probably the best pen ever also the pentel energel is a top tier pen
Muji does carry nice stationery, ahh the white barrel classic yes. Unfortunately the Muji nearest me closed so no more Muji for me...
I agree the Uniball Signo DX is soo goated, it's the best gel pen out there. I swear Uniball makes the best ballpoint pens. I default to the Jetstream for note taking and making cheat sheets because of the fine tips, but my Signo gets enough airtime too especially when the paper I use don't take to the PLATINUM Carbon ink well and I want no smudging or feathering (the Carbon is truly one of the few truly permanent inks, it barely smudges at all, but some papers are Horrible)
It's the first time I've heard of the Hobonichi Cousin and the Archer and Olive, will have to check them out once I run out of my Traveler's Notebook inserts :D

2. Show your pencil case and what's inside
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my pencil case! It's pretty old and ratty, but it works well. It's not as full as it usually would be cause if the quarantine, I don't need to bring as much with me cause I don't go anywhere.
I divide the stuff in my pencil case into three categories, pencils, pens, and misc.
Pencils
Tumblr media
These are my fav pencils, from left to right, the graph gear 1000 mechanical drafting pencil (for engineering) that I got for like 8 dollars, a stubby 5B pencil I shoved into a broken eraser holder, standard pencils, and this weird pilot 2020 rocky mechanical pencil that apparently goes for like 20 dollars on eBay?? (・o・;) It has this shakable barrel so you can shake it instead of clicking it in order to get the lead out.
Pens
Tumblr media
I usually have a lot more pens than this, but these are my faves. From left to right again, this cute Japanese cat pen; the tail clicks! It's really cute. A white jellyroll that I hate. Jellyroll sucks but I still use it... (-_-;) A sharpie that's dying, this really nice optiflow gel pen from staples. It flows really well, as given by the name. And then these uniball signo dx colored pens in the sizes .28 and .38, uniball gel pens are really good as well.
Misc
Tumblr media
Some items of note, I use the paintbrush to swipe away eraser shavings so the drawing doesn't smudge, a white out pen that I use for big mistakes, an exacto knife I use to sharper my pencils from time to time, and then a clickable eraser. Clickable erasers are actually really nice, if you need precision erasing then I highly recommend them. (◠‿・)—☆
Also, these aren't in my pencil case but I do use them very often.
Tumblr media
I use india ink mixed with a little water for most of my inked drawings (the bottle was something my dad gave me, the ink isn't that fancy) and then I use these dip pens that I honestly forgot the brand name for. I got them from Michaels for like 8 dollars though, pretty good deal.
Also also, cause of quarantine I use the pens and pencils on my desk as well, here's a lil peak of them.
Tumblr media
Very messy as you can see... Thanks for the ask!
