i mean there’s genuinely no difference between a frat bro saying ‘i’m a lesbian too haha’ and a ‘transbian’… they are males intruding on a female exclusive sexuality that has always and will always face harassment from males just for daring to not feel attraction to them. a man did not grow up with the same experiences as a lesbian. a woman did not grow up with the same experiences as a gay man. they are heterosexuals with het privilege inserting themselves into gay spaces and it is insulting to actual homosexuals - who are a very small minority!- to intrude on our lives and communities. i have been pushed out of most mainstream lesbian spaces by ‘transbians’, they revolve around girldick and people who ‘love butches’ who are always just masculine males. i hold no energy for men who claim space for themselves without giving a damn about us - which is most ‘transbians’. because they are entitled males and were raised entitled males. you are doing fine work by being diplomatic but god including ‘transbians’ is downright insulting to lesbians who have been dealing with lesbophobia and misogyny because we aren’t attracted to and don’t relate to trans women *by nature*. they are heterosexual males and lesbians should not be expected to stand by them after they’ve colonized our spaces. it’s disappointing that you hold such an inherently homophobic view about heterosexual people
also are you not supporting bisexual lesbianism/split attraction model by saying people who are trans, have ‘gay experiences’, but are technically hetero/bi can use gay labels? there’s no criteria for lesbianism besides experiencing similar harassment to lesbians? i think you are well-spoken but should interrogate this train of thought more. who does it serve to include bisexual, or, less generously, heterosexual trans people in gay sexuality?
i thought for a really long time about this ask! it's such a complicated topic that ofc seems very obvious to ppl on each side. originally when i answered your previous asks (you or someone else on the topic) i honestly wasn't fully settled into my thoughts about it. i'm still fairly new to spaces that aren't mainstream tra spaces. i don't agree that male ppl who transition into being perceived as gay women with their partners etc have the same intent as fratbros joking abt being dykes. i think they just occupy a space that previously was almost impossible back when physical transition wasn't a thing. they're still struggling to find their own space. yes, they did (and still do) really bad shit to homosexuals and female ppl as a community. i know that firsthand. but i also have seen people transition that way and i think it's always annoyingly more complex than it is at first glance. but i REFUSE to give up exclusive female4female & male4male spaces. i refuse to not hold heterosexual ppl accountable for their consistent homophobia, especially transfems unfortunately due to their male socializing & body differences that causes a power imbalance. though i have seen transmascs who date bio men and say the wildest shit ever, or even trick bio gay men into having sex with them without telling them. like stuff is getting REALLY bad, truly unhinged, and i am worried. i just want to figure this stuff out, and i don't believe all trans ppl are doing this for evil reasons, or even callous reasons.
honestly, i do think the term lesbian has always been so fucking unique and uniquely marginalized. and many people born with dicks, transfems included, have been horrible to me & other biological lesbians. i think we have been denied basic respect for so long and pressured to the point of abuse for some of us. transitioning becoming more accessible makes this issue much worse and more pressing. personally, where i'm at right now is... i am okay with transfems who post-transition live passing as sapphic with their gfs etc (who at times are transfem too) using the term transbian. but i do think them using the word lesbian on its own just digs the knife deeper for the female4female community, the lesbian community, which before very recently - back when physical transition wasn't possible - was always 99.9% bio women and transmasc folks loving each other. it's a very specific term. it is heavily, extremely fetishized, and demonized, and belittled, and is an isolating af experience from a young age. they don't get it. of course they don't. yet their sexuality is extremely complex if they transition; they go from their relationships being shrugged off to facing lesbophobia. just like transmasc ppl who transition can date bio men and suddenly face homophobia. but that's those people immigrating into the experiences that homosexuals, exclusively same-sex/agab attracted people, were born into. they have had a life free of the paranoia of showing any attraction to their opposite sex. it must be confusing as fuck. it must be isolating. but it's not the same. it'll never be, and i think gay female ppl & gay male ppl have really tried to be accommodating... i do believe there can be wonderful spaces where everyone who lives perceived as gay/bi men, or as gay/bi women, can have their respective gay & sapphic spaces that are trans-inclusive. i also believe that we need our exclusive male4male and female4female spaces too. we need a space to let loose and bond over stuff.
i think it would be immensely healthy for trans people who transition into living as gay to form their own specific terms for that. i think right now they exist in a very awkward in-between place where they try to make gay/lesbian terms match. but they're constantly upset when homosexual culture doesn't magically stretch itself to include them at every turn, they view it as an attack and a rejection, bc they don't realize same-sex attracted ppl have unique experiences too. they accept t4t but not us. and at times they're butting into a culture they can't really comprehend, same as if a bio gay guy went into a club full of transmasc people who live as gay men. there would be a totally different vibe, a different culture, and i think it upsets trans ppl to think that they're different. even though it's 10000% OKAY to be different, you need to come to terms with it. it can be dysphoria-triggering, that makes total sense... but it's not healthy for them to try to utterly deny their sex/agab and shove themselves into a box they are incapable of fitting into and pretend that they were always in that box and they 1000% understand that box and anyone who says they were never in that box before or that they're new in it and need to be respectful is just a horrible bigot. anyone making homosexual-specific inside jokes etc are being exclusionary meanies. it's not fucking healthy for them OR for female4female & male4male people. we're all marginalized in different ways, and it's not earning them any favors from us. which actually only isolates them more!
transfems haven't returned the allyship that female ppl so often show them, and especially did earlier on when it wasn't so girldick-in-your-face in lesbian spaces and homosexual-shaming as it is now. i will personally, where i'm at right now writing this, accept the term transbian to mean someone who has immigrated into the experience of being perceived as a lesbian, faces misogyny & lesbophobia, and may live that way for 30-40+ years or their whole ass lives doing so. i still will consider them my sisters and want to bond over the similarities and differences in our experiences. but they need to fucking understand what they've done, as a group, to bio lesbians and just female4female ppl. and how bio men & transfems are born into privilege, and that doesn't just all shed away the second they grow tits or get surgeries. i will accept transbian for now. but i think them saying they're lesbian women outright has started to feel insensitive to the current cultural tensions within lgbt, and the misogyny & lesbophobia their community has brought us. all the threats and sexual abuse & guilt-tripping they throw at us, in very male ways. i do believe there's absolutely lovely trans women who i wouldn't even recognize as trans and find common ground with when we both talk about our girlfriends and how shitty society treats lesbian-passing couples. i think homosexual bio men tend to be better at asserting their boundaries bc female folks are taught to be meek and subservient growing up. but we've finally had enough. it took me meeting trans women who tell me "hey, it's really fucked up how my community treats lesbians. i'm sorry. you deserve better" for me to really start to process my anger. bc it could've been so simple!! but it wasn't. it still isn't. i want transfem allies to rise up and show the fuck up for homosexual female folks. for the og lesbians. i will welcome transbians, personally, but not in all context. and i don't expect them to welcome me in transbian-exclusive context either. i want actual allyship. i know this isn't me fully agreeing with you anon, we still disagree on certain aspects of this. but your ask did help me. and i want you to know i don't take shit from misogynistic transfems, i don't let opposite-sex attracted transfems to speak over homosexuals, i demand mutual respect. opposite-sex attracted trans people who live as gays irl post-transition occupy a very weird space. i want to open up dialogue about that with them and between homosexuals too. at the very least, more and more transfems are peaking and properly apologizing & showing up for us. little by little.
i don't know where i am about opposite-sex attracted transmascs using gay. for me, personally, i don't really mind bc it doesn't have the same impact as lesbians having male bodies pressured onto them. i would need to talk to more male4male people, including bio gay men and transfems who are only into other male people. i know some transmascs use the term achillean, and other things like that. some also use gay to mean being same-sex attracted, often they're transmasc4transmasc (and can reclaim lesbian if they so desired, or make new terms). i deeply care for both homosexual rights and people who are genuinely trans and transitioning into new experiences. i'm still trying to learn more and find a middle ground. i know i'm a nicefem by radblr standards or whatever, but whatever.
so yeah, anyways. thank you sm for this ask! it really did stir my brain. i know this isn't as satisfying as if i had outright agreed with you after all this, but i tend to have more nuanced takes since i've been deep in the trans community as a detrans woman and seen how complex life is for people who transition into a gay-passing life. i'm still learning and gathering my thoughts. asks like these really do help.
we need to stand our ground gyns. we need to fight for homosexual rights. we need ppl who immigrate into our experiences to show us basic respect and not demand us to do conversion therapy on ourselves or stop making community inside jokes, just erase all our history to make space for them. we can have overlapping experiences without forgetting to celebrate our differences too. we can have trans-inclusive gay spaces and homosexual-only spaces and trans-exclusive spaces. we can literally have it all and coexist! & they need to start holding their bigots & creeps accountable. we need them to figure this shit out. i get that being a hetero person living as gay, thriving in that way as they're more than welcome to, can be really confusing and isolating and frustrating. but they can't keep doing this to other marginalized communities. it's just not fucking fair.

An E/riel said that “Emerie and Rhys have a better chance at being friends than Gwyn and Rhys - he already flies her to and from Illyria” and while it is possible that Rhys and Emerie will become friends, I still believe that Rhys and Gwyn are going to become very good friends for many reasons, but that’s a whole different post.
And while we’re on the topic of Emerie, E/riel’s only bring her up when they want to put down/make Gwynriel’s, Gwyn stans, and Nesta stans look bad (I stated this in another ask). That we don’t care about her and we forget about her. Emerie week was announced not too long ago and the majority of them were dead quiet. “Emerie deserves better” they say and then it’s radio silent from them. It honestly feels performative. I have a lot to say about this actually.
The majority of Gwynriel’s/Valkyries fans have made so much fanart of Emerie (and Emorie), short fics, headcanons, little blurbs of how she inspired young girls in Illyria, theories of her getting green siphons or even getting Truth-Teller, and praise her for being brave and hardworking. I’ve even seen some say how it would be cool if Emerie got a little camp of her own for the woman who want to be a Valkyrie and it would be like a safe haven. And if E/riel’s have the Gwynriel, or Gwyn, or Nesta, or Valkyries tag blocked then that’s probably why they don’t see some of it. Even without those tags there is still lots of love for Emerie, so when I see them talk about how we don’t appreciate her or only care about Gwyn because we ship her with Azriel it makes no sense to me.
And also, a lot of E/riel’s bring down the Valkyries by calling the sleepover and them making friendship bracelets childish, how the three of them aren’t really friends because all they’ve done is hang out a few times and read books and had a sleepover (?), saying the Blood Rite was lackluster/stupid, “the power of friendship”, etc. So how exactly is bringing down those girls and their friendship being supportive of Emerie? (I think they only do this because they don’t like Nesta or Gwyn).
This topic really makes me heated and annoyed. Like I said it just feels performative from E/riel’s. @yazthebookish actually made a very good post talking about this a little bit ago, but I think it’s deleted now. (Apologies to Yaz if I made you uncomfortable with tagging you❣️)
🍒 anon
Helloo 🍒 anon,
sorry for responding late. There's a heatwave, and I'm just barely surviving it.
Every *feminist*, girls girl take from E/riels feels performative and fake. They always end up saying something indirectly misogynistic.
It is funny when they ridicule Valkyries but pretend to love Emerie. Do they know she's also a Valkyrie? And she loves Gwyn and Nesta. And she's a cool character with lots of potential. Especially considering the Illyrians plot.
Unfortunately, as it's a romance series, we are interested in speculating about romance. Hence, the ship wars. I don't particularly enjoy Mor, and that's why it's hard for me to think about the possibility of Emorie. I think Emerie deserves better, but at the same time, I need at least one wlw ship. (Pls sjm, give us something sapphic.) So when there is not much to fight or speculate about... there are just fewer discussion points. We still show appreciation for the character, tho.
I think we would all as a fandom have more energy to discuss Emerie more if we didn't have to debunk more and more unhinged E/riel theories and block trolls every day.

Just as well that I was on a different continent to the Danai Gurira performance of Richard III because if I'd been in the audience or tbh within a mile of it, it would have unhinged me. Deranged me. Sapphic energy overload. Don't care that Richard III is a villain in that play. Not if Richard III in this case is 5 foot 7 inches of Danai Guriria. Richard III may not be "made to court an amorous looking glass" but is she made to court an amorous Me? She says she "cannot prove a lover" but is she sure? would she like to find out? i'm free saturday

DBATC or Hits Different?
THIS IS THE ONLY ONE YOU’VE SENT THAT’S CAUSING ME GENUINE PAIN WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?
DBATC is her best bridge but Hits Different’s bridge is still absolutely that bitch.
Vocally both absolutely soar in the last chorus.
Hits Different gets bonus points for sapphic energy tbh AGDJAG
Hits Different has more fun unhinged lyrics
DBATC thematically ties in with the rest of Lover with the repeated “my’s” which drives me insane
Hits Different has perfect fun pop production.
DBATC has the insane piano though that I’m obsessed with GOD THIS IS SO HARD
MY GROUPCHAT NAME USED TO BE STILL WRITING PAGES. PLUS THE WAY SHE SAYS FLICKERING SCRATCHES MY BRAIN.
OK YEP DBATC WINS BUT IT IS SO CLOSE
#literally listened to them back to back and that was just my live thoughts so have fun with this#ask#ask game#my post#jake <3

The lovely @dramateaque tagged me, and while I love answering questions about myself (I’m self-centered that way), I’m not much of a tagger on this platform, for the simple reason that except for a couple people, everyone is faceless and anonymous and I’m good with that.
ships | three ships
I honestly have just one because all the others come and go. Only one ship is a constant in my life.
Shen Wei & Zhao Yunlan from Guardian
The only ship I don’t see myself ever tiring of, and also my first stop whenever I visit AO3. It’s wild how two characters so different in every way can be so perfect for each other.
ships | first ship
Hard to be sure that it’s really the first, but I want to say Maris Pallitax and Quint Verginix from the book series The Edge Chronicles. I adored them as a child. Fun fact, Maris is named Maria in the French translation.
last | last song
The last song I listened to was A&W by Lana Del Rey, but the most recent song that had me going feral is Aurora’s Blood in the Wine. The unhinged sapphic energy in that one. Beautiful.
last | last movie
It’s either Glass Onion or Emma, I’m honestly not sure.
currently | currently reading
The Ron Chernow Hamilton biography. And as a result I constantly have the songs of the musical stuck in my head.
currently | currently watching
Nothing is sticking right now unfortunately. My currently watching list has 22 titles on it but most are inactive.
currently | currently craving
I need to be in the woods, without snow, surrounded by the colour green. I still have many months to wait for this.
@theflowergirl and @namjhyun consider yourselves tagged if you want to do this!

Just one day left to vote in this epic final showdown between two chaotic, non-binary icons - though I'll admit there isn't much suspense in this one. I am delighted that without any reblogs on my part, this finale has been the poll in this bracket with by far the most votes! Last round I had said I planned on posting propaganda along with this post, but then almost all the submissions I got were for Ally, so I decided not to bias the poll with them right off the bat. But now that we're almost done (and a Beardsley sweep seems practically inevitable), I thought I'd share some of the propaganda that was shared with me as well as some favorite tags I've seen about them:
"They are so chaotic that basically everyone in the s6 finale [of Game Changer] was thought to be them at some point. they are impossible to pin down. they could be anyone. do anything. not even the rest of the dropout cast knows what they're capable of" - Anonymous "They roll dice like ripping a beyblade. They maxxed out their credit card on gas station clothing. They found grants on set bar and made a negroni to drink during filming. They regularly ran out of gas on freeways for 6 years just because they refused to fill up the tank. They lost a septum piercing during sex. They boarded a ferry, took it, and got home while filming a zoom epsiode of adventuring party. When Sam said go they flew to new york. They sang for the wienermobile as a kid. No one can compete guys" - Anonymous "I'm sorry but until Vic gets a neck tattoo on a dare for a girl they've been seeing for like - a month, they do not hold a candle to Ally." - @foldingfittedsheets "Vic seems a little more intentional, whereas I think Ally is like 80% intentional comedy and 20% just Like That." - @satisfactuality "Total Forgiveness. That is all." - @ralphward458 "I think the difference is that Ally is chaotic neutral/good while vic is lawful chaotic." - @quantummindclassicalheart "Ally 'I ate a post it note once it was on my sandwich' Beardsley." - @sapphic-squid "Sorry but nothing will compare to the sheer Energy [Ally puts] into every 'girlieeeee.'" - @donutcats "I've said it before and I'll say it again: Beardsley is least hinged. The most hinged they've ever been is as Margaret Encino and even then they made her post nudes on space reddit directly after calling for a revolution. Allergic to hinges." - @lailedcat "They heard 'go' and went to the other side of the country. I'm never forgetting that." - @catboyrichardkarinsky "Unfortunately after the jerk off emoji sequence, Ally Beardsley has to take it by a landslide." - @eleven-of-the-woods "Unhinged person is gonna go to 'hey girlie', 'that's what you think,' 'blimey,' 'then I fart,' throw-a-hat-into-the-box-of-doom, neck-tattoo-of-a-girlfriend Ally Beardsley (the last one is completely bonkers btw)." - @fandoomed-len
- @gayandtrashy
youtube
- @periru3 (ok, I'll admit it, this one is mine. I reblogged the Grant vs. Ally poll to my main blog with this vid, but I thought now might be the time to plug it here too)

totally biased and unhinged wlw book recomendations list
Happy Pride! I have over 80 books in my “sapphic” goodreads list and these are my personal favs…I don’t have the energy to type actual descriptions but here are the first things that came to my mind with some of them. enjoy. or don’t. to be clear most of these are NOT romances. that’s a different genre and I feel like sometimes ppl get annoyed that the queer sci fi book had more sci fi than romance…but it’s just how it is. ** **
Literature/misc
Stone Butch Blues - Leslie Feinberg
REQUIRED READING FOR ALL
fictionalized history of a working class jewish queer person and their experiences with lesbian bars, transitioning, unions, and more!
extremely heart breaking but I learned a lot of history I didn’t realize I didn’t know* **Last Night at the Telegraph Club-Malinda Lo **
main character is a chinese-american lesbian coming of age in the 1950′s in san francisco
she forms a sort of relationship with a girl in class and they go to a lesbian bar secretly
can’t recommend enough!
Her Body and Other Parties - Carmen Maria Machado
Carmen Maria Machado is the GOAT. Her writing is just incredible and some of these stories are haunting.
single handedly made me like short stories.
both Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers listed it as one of their favs. I Know the End is based on a story from this book.
contains a Law and Order: SVU fanfic which HAUNTS me*
In The Dream House - Carmen Maria Machado
a genuinely heartbreaking book about abuse in queer relationships
semi autobiographical/looking at histories of abuse
Everyone in this room will someday be dead - Emily Austin
if you struggle with anxiety or/and depression and a fixation on death and/or illness, boy do I have the book for you.
Painfully relatable but also very funny. in a laugh at your own pain kinda way. and the main character is a lesbian in a relationship. I truly love this book and highly recommend.
I had it on my tbr for a year and when I finally started I finished it in one sitting.
No One Belongs Here More Than You - Miranda July
definitely an acquired taste but one of my favorite books of all time.
a bunch of short stories focusing on loneliness
many queer characters in the stories
The First Bad Man - Miranda July
a dowdy, depressed, anxious woman is asked to house her boss’ aggressive, sexual, and comparatively young daughter (20′s)
they start beating each other up
that leads to other activities
I cried so hard reading this book. That might just be a personal thing though.
It is gay and it is amazing but also it broke my heart. It’s also completely unhinged. can’t recommend more.
Disobedience - Naomi Alderman
I did not expect to like this as much as I did. I hated the author’s other book. But I really liked about 90% of Disobedience. Really interesting look at religion and conformity.
The Rehearsal - Eleanor Catton
another unhinged classic. A lot of my literary recs are a bit unhinged.
def not a romance.
A book about the weird relationship teachers have with their students, specifically in music and theatre. Touches on themes of consent and abuse, as well as sexuality and power dynamics.
My Education - Susan Choi
Book about a woman who falls in love with her professor’s wife but the woman won’t commit to her. that’s kinda the whole story.
9/10 would recommend but that’s just me
end made me angry ngl
The Miseducation of Cameron Post - emily m. danforth
from the movie trailers I thought this book was about cameron at a conversion camp, but it’s about way more than that. and only maybe 1/5 of the book takes place at the camp.
Liked it way more than I thought I would!
My Brilliant Friend - Elena Ferrante
sooooo this book isn’t explicitly queer but ok actually it is and I will fight anyone on this. my favorite book series ever so it must be on the list.
this book has everything: explorations of class dynamics, italian language discourse, academic rivalry, shoe drama, explorations of gender dynamics, dolls, kinda mean main character, obsession, very internal main characters
The Lying Life of Adults - Elena Ferrante
this book IS explicitly queer and literally when the fuck is the sequel coming out?
has many of the same themes as MBF. I am a whore for Elena Ferrante so had to put it on the list but I wouldn’t say either of the books are like SCREAMING explicitly wlw content. but it does inform many of the actions of the characters*
Thriller/Horror/dark
They Never Learn - Layne Fargo
when I say this book changed my life
sometimes a hot bi lit professor ruthlessly murdering rapists on campus is the catharsis one needs
the inverse of bury your gays
this book made me so happy
Plain Bad Heroines - emily m. danforth
polyamory, horror, so many footnotes, every character in this book is gay and there are so many characters
the moral of the story is polyamory? I think
The Luminous Dead - Caitlin Starling
this is a really claustrophobia-inducing book about a woman who goes into a cave lead only by this asshole woman who really doesn’t care for her well being…they sort of trauma bond? I loved it.
you will NOT catch me cave diving
Women in Gray - K.D. Rye
very dark book about a woman who’s girlfriend is an evil scientist who has created a technology that can control her and how she escapes
Sci-Fi:
One Last Stop - Casey Mcquiston
look this book isn’t for everyone and theres a lot of discourse but here’s why I loved it: time travel, public transportation, wlw, Lost references
A Memory Called Empire - Arkady Martine
an incredible book about assimilation in an empire
very funny and great worldbuilding/culture building
has really interesting themes and the sequel is even better imo
the main relationship is between two women and it is very connected to the themes of assimilation and personhood but also a cute relationship
The Space Between Worlds - Micaiah Johnson
what if the multiverse was discovered but to travel to a parallel universe you can only do it if you’re dead in that universe. otherwise you will instantly die
so who do they chose to do multiversal travel? the disenfranchised because they are more likely to be dead in other universes
book very much delves into themes of class and race.
I’m obsessed with the budding relationship between the mc and her “handler”.
misunderstanding taken to a whole new level
Gideon The Ninth - Tamsyn Muir
what if necromancers were in space and they were all kinda catholic but also queer
don’t make the mistake I did and not read it because it has a man’s name as the title. Gideon is a lesbian
Fantasy:
When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain - Nghi Vo
what if there was a sexy tiger lady
lots of important themes
The Witches Heart - Genevieve Gornichec
like Circe or the Penelopiad but for Norse Myths and the mc has a girlfriend
Black Sun - Rebecca Roanhorse
great fantasy book that is based not on eurocentric standards
lots of different queer characters
I kinda forgot the plot but I remember there was a bi mermaid and some priests and i liked it a lot
The Broken Earth Trilogy - NK Jemisin
not actually sapphic (except a very side character) but it is very queer and also one of the best fantasy books EVER so it goes on the list
what if the oppressed really were dangerous? would it be ethical to oppress them? (the answer is no)
the oppressed in this case are earth benders
very dark when you connect the story to real world atrocities
The Traitor Baru Cormorant - Seth Dickinson
the first in a so-far-great series about the horrors of colionalism/imperialism and one very fucked up girl’s journey to avenge/save her island
one of my favs and very gay but also will make you cry
the series as a whole has a LOT of great queer women in it
will make u so depressed about historical and current atrocities
She Who Became the Sun - Shelley Parker Chan
china in 1300s and a girl takes the place of her brother and claims his destiny
mc is actually more of nonbinary
great writing. highly reccomend
The Unbroken-C.L. Clark
another book about colonialism
mc is a soldier who ends up working for the ruler’s niece who is trying to stop a rebellion
lots of ethical questions about loyalty and such. lots of drama. don’t get me wrong it has a lot of queer stuff too
The Jasmine Throne - Tasha Suri
the world is based on histories of India
a magical woman and an ambitious princess form a shaky alliance

Nobody asked, but I'm going to share some of my queer headcanons:
Frankie: Pansexual, everyone is just so pretty, somebody send help. Agender and intersex with she/it pronouns. She loves presenting feminine, but doesn't sees herself as a girl, she was build from parts of people of all genders after all, also gender is such a weird and complex thing, she is at least trying to understand it first
Clawdeen: She/her pronouns and cisgender, but gender non conforming. Just vibing with her sexuality, but is definitely sapphic.
Draculaura: she gives me BIG demigirl vibes. She/they. Sorry Clawdeen x Draculaura shippers but I think Drac is the token het. She's aspec tho.
Cleo: she/her and cisgender too. Bisexual and polyamorous. (Dating Ghoulia and Deuce)
Ghoulia: nonbinary and they/them, no gender only zombie. Bisexual and polyamorous too. Sex positive assexual.
Lagoona: all pronoun, nonbinary. She's currently just having fun and experimenting with her gender. Pansexual, she really is just vibing.
Abbey: she/they and transfem. She doesn't care much about fitting in a specific limited concept of gender, despite mostly finding herself in the feminine side of the spectrum. Identifies as queer.
Toralei: she/it. Uncanny valley woman. Girl but there's something off about it. Gender is unhinged. Lesbian, big lesbian energy

If Killing Eve were to ever hold a fan convention in the future, I'm convinced that the amount of pure unhinged, sapphic energy that would be concentrated in one place would either bring about the end of the world or kickstart world peace. There's no between
#like we're gonna end this one way or another#but just like villaneve is gonna be harmony or destruction#😂😂😂#killing eve

Here are some Gender bent Tintin designs! This was super fun to do since I love history and I love fashion so looking up the History of Fashion was just *chief’s kiss* I also got to practice drawing from a reference without tracing and alot of these drawings came out really good and simliar to my refs (maybe you recongize what reference photos i was using!). Im Gonna explain the choices under the keep reading
For anyone curious Tintin’s designn was based off roaring 20s fashion since tintin in the land of the soviets was published in 1929 and the most dated aspect of tintin’s orginal design is the plus fours pants that came into popularity in the 20s. Luckily the fashions of the 20s woman were perfect for the type of tintin i wanted, Boyish, free spirited and feminist. Tintin does strive for a respectful but practical look, showing that they are simultaneously the most polite and unhinged people to exist and neither misogyny or concusions will stop them from saving the day. The masculine aspect of the boyishness of 20s fashion shows that Tintin’s open mindedness and strive for change while also exploring gender as a lesbian since I ship haddotin and being sapphic gives you a interesting relationship to gender when so much of feminity is centered around men and your life isn’t centered on men. And the youthful aspect of the 20s fashion shows a carefree spirit and connects to how the youthfulness of tintin made him such a beloved character and relatable character for children despite being an adult. the exceptions to the 1920s fashion were the tintin inspired by tintin’s new 70s look in tintin and the picaros on the top right and the tintin to the left of it inspired by this one drawing herge made of tintin where he was wearing 1680s clothing.
For fem Haddock I didn’t deviate much from their original design because I wanted her to have a Butch and more mature energy which the mainstream fashions of the 30s and 20s didn’t have. When designing her I was inspired by lesbian director Dorothy Arzner, photos from lesbian bar Le monocle and a drawing for a lesbian focused issue of an old french magazine (I espeically took infleunce from the picture when designing haddocks’ formal wear)
For the side character I think Chang is the one I’m most proud of, they came out so cute, giving off a humble gracefulness that is true to chang’s character. I was inspired by 1930s women’s fashion in china, after the loser clothes of the 20s the 30s went back to clothes that huged the curves and showed off femininity a bit more and this applies to the qipao in china, when fashion trends pass and are replaced with something new they often are replaced with something that is the opposite of the trend they are replacing. So Chang’s more feminine tight fitting clothes are almost opposite of tintin’s boyish loose clothes and I love the opposite attracts look it creates between them. But Chang’s adventous spirit is still shown in the modernity of their clothes, the striped textile made easily possible by modern texile manufacturing techniques and the knitted cardigan combinding western aspects to a tradtional chinese outfit. It shows that although Chang is a bit more sentitive than tintin they share the same open mindness and taste for new experiences while visually telling a story of China history when it comes to modernity that was visible in the fashions of the Chinese women of the time.
For Abdullah I was inspired by the fashion and modesty expectations of Saudi Arabia since Khemed is suppose to border the red sea so I guessed by that and a panel in Tintin in the land of black gold that features a woman that Khemed was possibly based on Saudi Arabia. Girls don’t tradtionally start wearing modesty clothing until puberty But since some people do hit puberty at nine years old (like i did (isn’t it interesting that abdullah is one of the only characters with a spefic age he is 9 years old) I drew Abdullah in a Niqab and Abaya, Alot of Abayas are plain black but I added some simple geometric shapes to it to add a sense of nobility (hey this kid can afford patterns and other colors) without being ostentatious about being nobility. Abdullah is a very expressive character but the niqab covers most of the face I tried to show in body langauge and eyes that abdullah is a kid that will ruin your day and laugh about it. I don’t get to draw muslim characters alot so this was great practice for future character designs!
Men’s fashion isn’t as diverse as women’s fashion especially back then because toxic masculinity is like “men can’t have fun” but I decided to subvert that for Bianca’s design. Bianca’s design is probably the 3rd design i’m most proud of because I wasn’t even planning on doing it because I thought it would be boring. But I decided to look at the classic fit fitting with lose pant legs tuxedo’s of the 1930s and spice it up with color of Bianca’s classic dress and jewerlly. Even as a man Bianca would be dramatic and want to stand out from the crowd so while many men were turning to more simple clothes and still wearing boring colors Bianca would try flaunt wealth and personailty where ever they went.
You know how Caclulus’ design is basically just scientist Auguste Piccard? While for this design I decided to make their design basically just Marie Curie but with caclulus’ classic color scheme and trying to keep the shape of caclulus’ original shape. Caclulus’ original outfit doesn’t quite fit into the fashion of the time with being just a tad too formal and too bright. And the marie curie inspired dress does give this caclulus a vibe of being an eccentric older person as he did before, and the hairstyle also gives calculus a vibe of not only being too busy to care if their hair is out of place, but also not caring if other people think their hair is out of place or if other people think they dress weirdly. Calculus is smart, eccentric, unhinged, and free from social anxiety and I hope I communicated that with this design.
Nestor was simply inspired by a tradtional maid outfit with the added yellow stripes as seen on nestor’s orignial design. And their the only character I added makeup on because the simple eye and mouth design of most of the male characters made putting makeup on them feel weird. But since Nestor has this eye design that is hooded I felt comfortable adding black eyeshadow to the ensamble.
Thompson and Thomson were difficult because I couldn’t look at female cops of the time to be inspired by because there were none. But I decided since this is before cops had uniforms so they just had to buy simple cheap clothes to wear on the job (such as a black suit) I wanted to go with a simple black and white outfit inspired by 1930s fashion. I also had to not make them too fashionable because I wanted them to have a older vibe to them and make it so they look really simliar but there is something keeping them apart. I decided on wide long collar, a belt for a more form fitting outfit, long skirts, bell shaped sleeves, a classic slouch hat and short wavy hair for aspects of 1930s fashion to intergate into their outfits and I made the dresses soild color as many afternoon dresses at the time where, making them acturate to the times but luckly the fashion trends did give them the mature vibe I wanted since 1930s fashion seemed to go mature and feminine where the 1920s were young and boyish. I decided to make the dominate color white instead of black because something in my character design brain was like “if thats way too much black in this outfit” but im still debating if that was a good choice. The things to tell these two apart is that one has glasses, the other doesnt and one has a curl at the ear the curls inward and the other one has a curl that curls outward...though I’m not sure which one I made thompson and which one is thomson
