Just your reminder that COVID is still a big issue when it spreads. I went to a wedding this weekend and interacted with someone from several feet away, one time. Little did I know that this person was knowingly exposed to COVID and decided not to mask. Not only did I get sick with COVID, but several people, including the bride and bride-groom, got sick with it. Please just mask, guys; it's legitimately not that hard, and you won't have to be the reason that people have to change their flights, call out of work, or miss weeks of school. If you don't mask when you're exposed, even now, then you're being an asshole. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

wow. first positive COVID test (I don't really believe it's the first time I've had it; that seems staggeringly unlikely)

that's. unfun but also surreal. I feel exactly like I do when struck with bad allergies or the Generic Moderate 36-Hour Throat Crud I've gotten pretty often since childhood. to the point where I was so sure the test would be negative, I took an extra one just from sheer surprise. I had more symptoms induced by the test swab up my nose- coughing and sneezing and such -than I've had all day

and this is why we always test when we feel under the weather, kids! better to have it be Just Allergies and know, than to inadvertently go about while covidious

(also why we vax up. I'd rather have a mild case- which seems to be the way of things so far, knock on wood -than something worse. and this is my first positive test in four pandemic years of working with the public, testing every time I have respiratory symptoms)

i don't believe in missing windows when it comes to love. there's so much love to go around

You're definitely right about that! To be fair I'm not lacking in love generally speaking-- i am lucky to love and be loved by so many wonderful people!! But. Dating? It's not really doable physically or financially, so I've stopped putting in an effort.

I also (unfortunately) listened to an episode of one of my fave science podcasts that was all about finding love. It included a sort of "formula" for settling down that i can't quite explain (here's the transcript tho) but that boiled down to spending about 37% of your dating life "playing the field" & then staying with the next best suited person you meet. And. I did that, kinda. And it didn't pan out. Listening to that episode made me spiral a little, ngl. But i was already out of the dating world at that point :P

Anywayyyyy time to play the Mary Tyler Moore theme song, because love really is all around, no need to waste it. You can have the town, why don't you take it? You might just make it after all!
