#unfinished object

Found this super old unfinished object in my box of shame. Not up to my standards nowadays, but kinda makes me want to redo it, but make it 3D... because cicadas. So now I'm thinking about how to make a 3D cicada. And I've never even seen a cicada irl.

Not a traditional mend, I finished an unfinished cross stitch from a charity shop.

I'd like to do a quick explanation on what to do if you want to finish an unfinished stitch or if you find a mistake late in stitching.

There were errors in the pattern, or the person who made the example piece for the kit photo went slightly off book for creativity. There were some errors that the cross stitcher made, but all were completely understandable.

The pattern was Conch Shell (50249) by Something Special from 1986. I have no way of knowing when it was started, but probably within a couple years of that.

What to do if you mess up a cross-stitch

This will take practice, but ignore it. The entire project. Put it in time out for a week.

Complete it as best as you can, put the finished stitch in a box, and do not look at it for two months.

You've been looking carefully at it for weeks. The image of what you've done wrong is engrained deep in you.

Put it in time out as often as you need to.

Unless you plan on framing the kit picture(in this case, it wouldn't match the directions anyhow), no one will sit there and count the boxes.

If they do and complain, then kick them out of your house.

I will never sew anything, I know this...

And yet I can't stop looking at zipper designs. There are so many unique and cool options available. From waterproof zippers with vanishing seams, to zippers of unusual size. Different shapes and colors for the teeth-- so many textures.

I think "This cool zipper inspires me to make something-- then remember that if I buy a zipper and don't use it? It will just be a source a guilt one more unfinished project-- but I still can't stop looking around at all the cool zippers.

If you do know how to sew and make projects, why not use the coolest zippers you can find? A unique zipper can be a feature! Why go with anything boring-- just look at these lovely zippers!

Well, on the upside, Veilguard’s absolutely horrid writing and utter lack of meaningful roleplay mechanics made me appreciate Inquisition’s already watered-down writing and roleplay mechanics.
