Recent posts on Facebook reminded me that this is the 8th anniversary of the year I got stuck in my apartment with insufficient clean water due to flooding. I still had electricity and internet so I obsessively played Undertale and watched every Undertale-related video I could find and made an Asriel/Flowey playlist that is still my most popular ever fanmix and only left my apartment to go to the university water-dispensing station

I have not made a Chara fanmix and I'm not going to because, as much as like to use fanmixing as an excuse to broaden my musical palette, I think any reasonable Chara mix would need to be an order of magnitude more graphically violent than anything I currently listen to, and I'm just not up to the task right now. I'm not strong enough.

This playlist is about when the world ends and your nephew gets kidnapped by the authors of Hell to bait you into surrender, and he's all you have left, and even though you barely know him you have to go get him, so you play along and let them kidnap you and you have to watch him get raped and tortured on the regular, and you pretend you don't care because they turned you, let them think you hate each other, and maybe you do resent him a little and resent yourself for resenting him, and you can save the world but it's a shot in the dark, there are too many millions of variables, and of course you want to give him the best life he can possibly have, but you desperately need his help, but you can't rely on him, but you need him, and in any case you have to teach him morals first.

My Undertale Playlists!

As you may or may not know, I have been working on a series of Undertale playlists for a very long time now (three character playlists and a series of story playlists). I’m very slow at getting things done. I’ve finalised the track listings for all of them now, but publishing them all is something I simply do not have the time for. I wanted to publish them on 8tracks, but it doesn’t technically allow you to have more than two songs by the same artists in a playlist anyways, and it’s extremely difficult/impossible to work around that. And technically illegal. SuaN and Playmoss also present their own issues as some songs may not necessarily be available on youtube or soundcloud. So instead... I’ll publish the track listings for the playlists here!!! (and art if I did any!) Anyone can feel free to recreate these, publish them in my stead, or even edit them! These playlists aren’t perfect but they’re the one thing in my life that I’m most proud of. Many of the song choices may not be very original, but maybe they’ll at least provide a bit of a throwback. The order they appear in is the intended listening order. Everything’s under the cut!

Notes:

• Inspired by playlists about them on 8tracks that I listened to during the 2010s fandom days. I can't guarantee that all of the songs here appeared on 8tracks playlists back in the day but most of the artists here are ones I discovered through those playlists.

• A lot of Radical Face because he's a staple in their playlists and whenever I hear his songs, I think of them.

• Iscariot is there twice but different covers, that's because I think they both give off a different impact depending on the time frame it occurs in. I like to think that Walk the Moon's version occurs right after Asriel's refusal to kill and the consequences that occur while The Vassar Devil's cover happens during the Asriel fight in True Pacifist.

• Some songs may have romantic subtext but you can just interpret it as platonic. I personally don't care because when a song reminds me of them, it's them. The important part is that the love is there and it cannot be denied.
