It really depends on the nature of the lie, doesn’t it?

Are you saying "I'm busy" just to avoid spending time with someone you don't even like/you're not feeling mentally up to it and prefer to stay home/you're too tired... or are you deceiving your partner by claiming you're with friends while the truth is you're having an affair?

Keeping your personal matters private by telling a harmless lie is not the same as inflicting pain on others with your dishonesty.

Not all lies carry the same weight, and it's important to recognize that dishonesty isn't acceptable in every context.

It’s wild how some of you get a kick out of lying to your friends and family, especially when you have strong bonds with them. I’m not talking about white lies; I mean serious lies. Then, when you start losing friends & family and their trust, you act like you’re the victim.

i really try my best to keep my blog discourse/drama free and i don’t want to keep dwelling on this but i do want to say my piece, since apparently people take such issue with woc speaking about the vitriol they’re facing on this site, but this is the last i’ll say about it. this last little while i’ve been noticing a pattern. a lot of you see minorities in fandom spaces and try to drive us out by sending us hate, abusing the anon button to say the most vile abhorrent things (using slurs, threatening rape, and telling us to kill ourselves and that we don’t deserve to be here, and on and on and on) and it’s unacceptable.

and if us speaking up about it upsets you, then you need to take a step back and sort out your priorities. we have every right to express our feelings when we’re being relentlessly dragged through the dirt. if we don’t talk about it and don’t support each other while shit like this happens, people will continue to ignore it and this behavior goes unchanged.

I'm watching this scene again. I think this is the moment where Carmy's unconscious motivations come to light. It's not competition with Sydney here, like I said before.

Now Carmy thinks he has a clear motivation for getting a star, and that's because of Chef David, and he let's Sydney in on that fact 'so they can see what we're capable of'

And when she asks him again, "Why are you doing this?" He stops looking at her and says, "So you can push me, and I can push you."

Note that Carmy feels the urge for a cigarette after saying that.. but decides on a more constructive alternative. He quits smoking, replacing his old habits with a more socially acceptable one.

That's sublimation.

Now, watching it again, Carmy's ego is wounded that Sydney may think he can't do it- it's again Carmy puffing his chest like the time he moved his chef jacket or when he adjusted his body when she calls him an excellent chef. And showing off changing the Beef in the first episode.

Not being able to understand another person who isn't hurting you is not an excuse for making their life a living hell for a decade. Bakugou would have been well within his rights to avoid Izuku if he was unnerved by him or their values just couldn't align. And if he just pushed Izuku down in the sandbox and told Izuku he couldn't play with them anymore, Bakugou would still be a little brat but nobody reasonable would be calling him abusive.

But that isn't what happened. Even from Bakugou's own words, he actively beat Izuku down again and again. Because he one-sidedly decided Izuku was looking down on him without ever speaking about it, he terrorized an already marginalized person. This isn't about whether Bakugou should have liked or gotten along with Izuku. It's about Bakugou believing he had the right to violently suppress the people around him that didn't fit into his narrative.

Bakugou clearly had deeply rooted insecurities that needed addressed that weren't handled by the people around him because in their society, physical strength is extrapolated to strength in all instances. But that in no way excuses the harm he committed towards others.

Like everybody can understand that hyperdeath asriel is described as hot amd move on but the moment you make an adult design for a frisk and make them attractive (and simply point it out) then you must be awful! Like your design isint even sexualized or nothing it's just an adult frisk it's not like ur drawing them half naked like some adult frisk designs.

I was thinking about this last night but with the revelations today of several more male ccs being accused of sa and abuse, im not gonna be silent.

If your first reaction to all of this is to declare that “all men are evil” or “all men are secretly abusers” im gonna ask you to take a breath. You are rightfully angry but your anger is misplaced and you are actively making things worse.

This line of thought - even said in the heat of the moment without truly believing it - is very harmful both for others and yourself. All trans people are hurt by these words as wells as men of other minorities. Not to mention generalizations are always reductive and harmful in general. Say it enough times and you’ll eventually believe it.

Believing “all men are evil” is the gate way to gender essentialism which only reinforces the real thing you should direct your anger towards if you actually want things to change:

The Patriarchy

The entire reason why so many men feel entitled to the bodies of others and think they can get away with abuse is because of the patriarchy. This shit is engrained into our very institutions and getting angry at men as a whole is missing the bigger picture. Women also uphold the patriarchy. Women can also be abusers. Men do fight the patriarchy. Men do stand up against abuse. Men can be victims of abuse.

You want to actually help change things? Stop with all this “all men are evil” bs and do some research into how the patriarch harms everyone regardless of gender - including men. Educate yourself. If you are old enough, look into your local elections. Get involved with city hall or the board of educators or something because that is how we meaningfully change things.

All men are evil isn’t helpful and actively reinforces the real problem. Find a better outlet for your anger because hurting others isn’t the way. The patriarchy, white supremacy, colonialism/imperialism, and capitalism are all responsible for the state of the world. They are all intersectional. They are the reason this kind of behavior is so wide spread.

So just take a breath. Support and listen to the victims. Take time away from social media if you need to. And lastly if you are going to let this experience radicalize you, point that righteous fury towards the institutions that allow this behavior to be created not an entire class of people who are just trying to survive this hellscape along side you.

Only through community and solidarity can we enact positive change.
