Summary:

Ich war unglaublich müde. Zwei lange Tage voller Interviews und Fotos lagen hinter und ein weiter, ähnlicher Tag vor mir. Aber der neue Film musste schließlich promotet werden. So sehr ich meinen Job auch liebte, diese ganze Pressearbeit war etwas, dass ich nur ungern und nicht mehrere Tage machte. Vor allem alleine. Aber mein Co- Star Tom Holland, würde erst morgen zu mir stoßen. Leichte Nervosität packte mich. Ich konnte noch so berühmt sein: Von einem dezenten Crush auf meinen britischen Kollegen, konnte auch ich nicht freimachen. Leider... Nun stand der letzte Termin des Tages an: Jimmy Kimmel. Ich liebte die Show. Anders als bei anderen Talk Shows fühlte ich mich bei ihm immer gut aufgehoben. Er war einfach jemand, den man mögen, musste. Dennoch änderte das nichts an der Tatsache, dass ich jetzt lieber Zuhause in meinem Bett liegen, eine Serie gucken und einen Eisbecher verputzen würde. Als ich das Go bekam, setzte ich mein strahlendstes Lächeln. Bis vor drei Tagen hatte ich immer angenommen, dass es unmöglich war vom Lächeln einen Muskelkater bekommen konnte. Inzwischen wusste ich, wie falsch ich doch gelegen hatte.

Das Gespräch plätscherte schon eine Weile dahin. Jimmy wollte mit mir über Valentinstag sprechen, doch ich umging das Thema geschickt. Selbst wenn ich mich in einer Beziehung befinden würde, wäre eine Talkshow der letzte Ort, wo ich über sie sprechen würde. Da konnte Jimmy mir auch noch so geschickt Dinge entlocken. Darin war er gut. Genauso gut wie darin war einfach zu lächeln und ihm eine Antwort zu geben, die seine Fragen beantwortete, aber nicht wirklich das war, worauf er hinaus wollte. Ganz anders als Tom, der bekannt für seine Spoiler war. Ihn hätte man vermutlich nicht alleine auf die Presse loslassen. Vermutlich hatte ich deshalb die Ehre. "Okay, wir haben noch ein paar Leute im Publikum, die ein paar Fragen an dich haben, Y/N." Das war nicht geplant gewesen. Zumindest hatte mir niemand etwas davon gesagt. Aber gut. Warum nicht? Mein Blick glitt durch die Menge, aber Jimmy war schneller. Er hatte bereits einen großen, bärtigen Mann in der zweiten Reihe ausgewählt. "Hi!", grüßte der Kerl hektisch ins Mikro atmend. Ich nickte mit einem Lächeln.

"Du hast ja ziemlich viel mit Hunden zusammen gearbeitet. Könntest du mir beschreiben wie Zwergpudel riechen?" Es kostete mich all meine Willenskraft, nicht loszulachen. Das war eine Scherzfrage, oder? Das Publikum lachte, doch er schien es ernst zu meinen und führte seine Frage weiter aus: "Ich glaube ja, dass sie nach einer Mischung aus Huhn und Kartoffeln riechen."

Die nächste Frage war noch unsinniger. Eigentlich war sie gar keine. Man machte mir tausend Komplimente, um dann am Ende festzustellen, dass sie eigentlich für den Gast nach mir gedacht waren. Langsam fühlte ich mich wirklich verarscht und ein ganz klein wenig beleidigt. Irgendetwas führte Jimmy doch im Schilde? Ich versuchte gedanklich noch zu ergründen was der Zirkus hier sollte, da wurde ein Dritter aufgerufen. Kurzer Stille, dann fing die Menge an zu kreischen. Verwundert folgte dem Blick der Leute. Ich musste zweimal hingucken. Es war Tom, der nun das Mirko in den Händen hielt und sich ein Grinsen nicht verkneifen konnte. War er schon die ganze Zeit dagewesen? Im Gegensatz zu ihm hatte ich meine Gesichtszüge komplett unter Kontrolle, auch wenn ich innerlich mit den Augen rollte. Es dauert ein paar Sekunden bis die Menge sich wieder so weit beruhigt hatte, sodass er sprechen konnte. "Ich habe eine Frage!" , erklärte er dann unumwunden und stellte sich mit seinem Vornamen vor. Erneuter Applaus folgte. "Hi, Y/N. Ich habe eine Frage für Ms. Y/N Y/L/N." Ich biss mir unauffällig auf die Lippe. Der Typ machte es mir auch wirklich nicht leicht ernst zu bleiben! Jimmy forderte Tom auf seine Frage zu stellen. Das ließ der sich nicht zweimal sagen. "Also, meine Frage ist: Von allen Schauspielern dieser Welt, wer ist dein Lieblingsschauspieler?" Jetzt entschlüpfte mir doch ein kleines Grinsen. "Alle Schauspieler?", hakte ich nochmal nach, wissend dass er nur seinen Namen hören wollte. "Chris Hemsworth!" Natürlich stellte ihn diese Antwort wenig zufrieden. Seine auf mich fokussierten Augen schrien förmlich 'Willst du mich veraschen'. Er wies den Applaus des Publikums ab. "Sorry, ja das ist cool. Ich mag ihn auch, aber wie wäre es mit einem Schauspieler der Tom heißt? "Tom Cruise!", war meine Antwort. Langsam machte mir dieses Spiel wirklich Spaß. Tom zu ärgern war sowieso das, was ich neben Schlafen, Essen und Drehen am meistens gemacht hatte in den letzten Monaten. Ich war also geübt, aber vor allem kannte ich meinen Gegner gut. Auch heute funktionierte es wieder. Das stand deutlich in seinem Gesicht geschrieben. Wieder setzte er an und spezifizierte seine Frage noch etwas mehr. "Was, wenn sein Nachname mit einem H beginnt. Tom H?" "Hanks!" Auch nicht die von ihm erhoffte Antwort. "Er ist Brite. Tom H. , Britisch" Ich tat so als würde ich kurz darüber nachdenken. "Oh!", machte ich dann und teilte dem Publikum und Tom strahlend den Namen "Tom Hardy" mit, fügte noch hinzu, dass er Venom ganz großartig gespielt hatte. "Jünger!", unterbrach Tom mich. Einen hatte ich noch auf Lager. "Hiddelston!", rief ich lachend aus. In Toms Gesicht lag pure Fassungslosigkeit. Er griff sich dramatisch ans Herz und seufzte. Das würde er mir auf jeden Fall noch heimzahlen! Jimmy bat ihn auf die Bühne zu uns. Mit einem breiten Lächeln ging ich auf ihn zu. Er zog mich kurz in seine Arme und drückte mich:" Hi, Tom H.", flüsterte ich.

Nach der Show, ließ ich mich müde in einen der Sessel im Backstage Bereich fallen. Tom folgte mir. Er legte den Kopf in den Nacken und schaute mich aus seinen halb geschlossenen braunen Augen an: "Jetzt hast du mir nur einen Tag vor Valentinstag das Herz gebrochen!"

The Masked Singer: S12 E2 (Group A Competes In “Footloose Night”)

Tonight is the second round of Group A, and they will be performing songs from the Footloose soundtrack.

As always, I post before watching any unmaskings, so everything you read here are my guesses and not spoilers. (This will be posting less than a half hour after the live airing, but I’m watching the DVR recording on a slight delay and will be posting this just after I finish writing about the last performance.)

Showbird 🦤: A series of gemstones. Reconnected with a former flame. A purple cupcake. Says singing was her “first love”, which seems to indicate she’s known for something other than singing. I’m still not immediately picking up on the voice. The bonus clue: a music box (a reference to Footloose) playing hip hop music. She says she was part of a “Hip Hop Empire” in 1994. I think Ken’s guess of Yvette Nicole Brown (who costarred with both Ken and Joel McHale on Community) is the best guess so far, and Showbird sounds like she could be Yvette. But I’m not 100% sold just yet.

Ship ⛵️: White cowboy boots, a walking boot, was a cheerleader, class president, and prom queen in high school. I don’t know if Scottish school culture has cheerleaders or prom queens; I know a bunch of people online were guessing Annie Lennox, but I still keep getting the vibe that Ship is American, not Scottish. (And Annie is very Scottish, still speaks with a Scottish accent and everything.) Ship plays piano and gets much enjoyment out of it. From the Lilith Fair generation, I can think of three notable singers who primarily play piano: Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, and Paula Cole. (Jewel has already been on the show and won, and her primary instrument is guitar.) The piano’s music stand has a crow or raven on it. A big red heart. The tone still most closely resembles Paula Cole. She’s in her fifties now, but even in her more recent videos she can still hit some somewhat high notes for her age, and she may be singing in her lower register to help preserve her voice. The bonus clue: a locker with pictures of Melissa Etheridge, Whoopi Goldberg, and Kevin Bacon (she’s three degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon).

Woodpecker 🐦: Was a child actor. Rubber duck, a little briefcase, sees herself as a role model. One user on here suggested this could be Marsai Martin from Black-ish, which would fit in with the child actor clue. She has also been a producer during and since her time on Black-ish, becoming the youngest person to executive produce a Hollywood film when she was 13 years old. (Marsai is now 20.) The bonus clue: Kevin Bacon’s shoes from Footloose. She says a former contestant who was a bird character shares her love of shoes. Marsai’s Black-ish co-star Anthony Anderson has previously appeared on The Masked Singer as Rubber Ducky, and there was a rubber duck in her clue package, too! So, I’m going to concur with the user who suggested Marsai Martin.

Buffalos 🦬: I saw some people online suggesting that the Buffalos are the Wayans Brothers, but in their clue package the Buffalos clearly say they “…found each other”. So, I’m pretty sure the Buffalos are not brothers. I’m still thinking it’s Boyz II Men because of the picture of the football player “on bended knee” (and that was the name of one of their number one hits), but let’s see what some more of the clues are. They have a sense of humor and don’t take themselves too seriously. There’s a bottle marked “Poison”, which could also suggest that they could be Bell Biv DeVoe, as “Poison” was their biggest hit. So now I’m stuck between Boyz II Men and Bell Biv DeVoe. The bonus clue: a tractor reading “Mo-town”. Looking at both bands, New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe (which is a spin-off group from New Edition) were never signed to Motown Records itself. (They have worked with MCA, which is under the same UMG corporate umbrella as Motown Records, but that’s not the same as being signed to the label itself.) However, Boyz II Men were signed to Motown Records, and their debut single was “Motownphilly”, which has since become a very popular song from 1990s R&B (as were a lot of Boyz II Men’s singles from that decade). With that said, I’m sticking with Boyz II Men as my guess.

[Tutorial] [Intermediate] Recreate Need For Speed Carbon’s Autosculpt in Unreal Engine 4 and Blender using Shape Keys and Morph Targets

Before following this tutorial, please note that this is not a step-by-step tutorial and it assumes you have some familiarity with Unreal Engine and Blender or a similar 3D package. Intro: When I first played Need for Speed Carbon I was amazed by the Autosculpt system and wanted to know how they’ve done it. While I didn’t find out at the time, while playing with Morph Targets in Unreal Engine recently, I figured they could be used to recreate a system similar to Autosculpt.

For those who haven’t played the game, Autosculpt was a feature that allowed you to do fine visual tweaks on different car parts such as wheels, bumpers, spoilers, side skirts, etc by adjusting a few sliders. These adjustments allowed you to vary several properties such as size, position, rotation, pulling on various groups of vertices to achieve numerous unique variations of a car part. 

Here’s what we’re going to achieve:

Part 1 - Blender First of all we have to prepare the mesh. I’ll be using Blender for this but the following is achievable in most 3D packages such as 3DS Max and Maya. You can also make this in Unity instead of Unreal Engine.

The key feature in Blender which will help us achieve our goal is called Shape Keys. Shape Keys allow you to define several variations of a mesh and smoothly blend between them.

We start with a fairly simple car rim and tyre as one mesh with the modifier stack collapsed. This is needed due to Shape Keys not working with modifiers. So if you built your rim using the Array modifier you’ll unfortunately have to apply it to continue.

It’s important to keep your topology as simple as you can, avoiding any unnecessary topology such as no loops on the spokes like below. You’ll see why in a moment.

Important! Before you go any further make sure your mesh’s scale is applied as it will cause issues if not. To do this select your mesh, press Ctrl + A and select Scale.

Now go to the Data tab in the Properties panel and under Shape Keys click the “plus” icon to add a new shape key. This will add your Basis Key which defines the base shape of your mesh. Then click once more to add a new key, double-click it’s name to rename it and call it Split, followed by setting it’s Value slider to 1. 

Now press Tab to go into Edit Mode and tweak your mesh to look similar to below. After you’re finished exit Edit Mode.

Note: This is where not having an edge loop on the spoke helps as you can bend it out of place by just moving the top vertices retaining its overall shape. This is a bit tedious and while it might be tempting to use the Array modifier to model just one spoke of the rim and duplicate everything it is unfortunately not possible due to the incompatibility of Shape Keys with the Array modifier.

After modifying your mesh like above you can drag the Split slider and see how your mesh blends nicely between the 2 variations.

Now you can move the slider to 0 and click on “plus” to add another Shape Key. 

The process from here is the same:

1. Add Shape Key 2. Set the value to maximum 3. Enter Edit Mode > Modify your mesh to represent the maximum deformation for that Shape Key 4. Exit Edit Mode and play with the new Shape Key to check if you’re happy

I’ll quickly demonstrate all my Shape Keys and let you to either try and do the same or come up with your own.

Width - modifies the top width of the spokes

Poke - pokes the centre of the rim in

Offset - moves the entire spoke assembly in and out (deep dish style)

Twist - rotates the centre of the rim only

Radius - changes the radius of the rim (hint: use Proportional Editing to make this)

Tire - changes the tire width (if you want fat Lambo tires)

All that’s left to do in Blender now is to export this as a .fbx file and import into UE4. So go to File > Export > FBX and use the below settings.

This is for the Blender part now let’s jump to Unreal. Part 2 - Unreal

In Unreal the feature that allows us to use the Shape Keys we created is called Morph Target. These are a property of Skeletal Meshes so we’ll have to import our wheel like one.

In a project of your choice import the .fbx you exported earlier and match the settings underlined in red. You can leave everything else as default.

After you’ve done the settings press Import and double click your rim in the Content Browser. Go to the Mesh tab and your Shape Keys/Morph Targets are on the right. You can now adjust these as you did in Blender and combine them to achieve rather unique variations of your mesh. 

As a bonus UE4 allows you to move the slider negatively down to -1 so you can get the opposite result to the original intent of your shape key. This might end in some interesting or just outright funny results!

To adjust these sliders within a game, use the Set Morph Target node in Blueprint which you can drive using a UMG slider or whatever else you prefer.

Challenge: Try and use the above techniques to tweak another car part! Did you know?: You can use these techniques to also make customisable doors, windows, stairs and many other things.

Captain Marvel

Sonntag Abend war ich das erste mal dieses Jahr im Kino und habe mir Captain Marvel angeschaut.

Ich hatte mir diesmal keinen einzigen Trailer geschaut und auch keine Ausführliche Kritik gelesen, sondern nur das jeweilige Fazit.

Erst letzten Montag, kam ein Fernsehinterview mit der Hauptdarstellerin, normalerweise ist mir das ja egal, aber als sie das Interview damit eröffnete, dass sie ebenfalls introvertiert sei und nicht gerne im Mittelpunkt stehe, wurde ich aufmerksam. Das gab Sympathie Punkte für die Hauptdarstellerin.

Nun musste ich den Film ja fast anschauen, was ich sowieso gemacht hätte

Mit ca. 30+ Leuten war der Saal zwar nicht voll, aber das ist ja nicht schlimm.

Zum Tode Stan Lees wurde der Marvel Vorspann abgeändert und die Superhelden durch Bilder von Stan Lee’s Cameos ersetzt.

Nun zum Film.

Ich war zunächst überrascht, dass die Heldin an Gedächtnis Verlust litt und nur Bruchstücke an Erinnerungen hatte, und ihr Hintergrund erst im Laufe des Films aufgedeckt wurde. Dadurch entstand eine gewisse Neugier, sowie ein Spannungsbogen. So wusste man nicht woher sie ihre Kräfte hatte, noch wie sie auf einen anderen Planeten kam.

Die Rahmenhandlung handelt vom Volk der Kree, denen die Protagonistin angehört und deren Kampf gegen die Gestalt wandelnden Skrull.

Wer sich noch an Guardians of the Galaxy erinnert, wird sich an die Kree erinnern. Der Antagonist aus Teil 1, Ronan der Ankläger, gehörte ebenfalls diesem Volk an. - Dieser hat auch einen kurzen Auftritt.

Nach dem Vers (engl. gespr.), der Rufname der Heldin, nach einem missglückten Einsatz und der Flucht aus einem gegnerischen Raumschiff auf der Erde im Los Angeles des Jahres 1995 landet, trifft sie innerhalb kürzester Zeit auf den S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Nick Fury und dessen neuen Kollegen Phil Coulson, der Frischling. 

Wobei mir die Heldin, etwas zu gut mit der irdischen Technik umging, im Vergleich zu ihrem High-Tech Anzug.

Verfolgt werden sie von den Skrull, die Hinter einer Person aus Vers Erinnerungen her sind. Diese Person soll einen neuen Antrieb entwickelt haben, der Lichtgeschwindigkeitsreisen erlaubt.

Da die Skrull als Invasoren dargestellt werden, die mit dem Antrieb unaufhaltsam die Galaxie erobern würden, will dies die Kree Heldin verhindern.

Gleichzeitig erkennt die Protagonistin, dass sie wohl von der Erde stammen müsse. Foto aufnahmen und bisherige Erinnerungen verknüpfen sich und schalten immer weitere Erinnerungen frei.

Im laufe des Films stellt sich heraus, dass ihr richtige Name Carol DenVers ist , sie tatsächlich von der Erde stammt und Testpilotin bei der AirForce war, die seit einem Absturz vor 6 Jahren als Tod galt.

Im Finale hat außerdem der aus Captain America und Avengers bekannte Tesserakt, wieder seinen Auftritt als Energie Quelle.

Meinung und Kritik

Der Film war sehr unterhaltsam, der Soundtrack war auch sehr gut und fügte sich ähnlich in das Geschehen ein, wie in Guardians of the Galaxy. In einer Kampfszene z.B. läuft auf einem Plattenspieler Nirvana mit Come as you are, mit den Lautsprechern des Kinos natürlich ein super Klang.

Ich hätte nichts dagegen, wenn hier ein äquivalent zum Awesome Mix, verkauft werden würde.

Auch das Gut und Böse nicht so eindeutig sind wie zunächst erzählt, war ein gelungener Kunstgriff, der sich aber erst nach und nach offenbart. 

Als heimlichen Star des Films würde ich die Katze bezeichnen, diese sorgte für die meisten Lacher. Diese sollte einen eigenen Film bekommen.

Skeptisch war ich als die an Hochtechnologie gewohnte Carol Denvers, sehr vertraut mit der damaligen Technik umging. Genauso wie das sie sehr schnell zu Nick Fury vertrauen gefasst hat, obwohl sich beide erst wenige Augenblicke kannten.

Post-Credit-Scenes

Auch diesmal gab es wieder zwei Post Credit Scenes. 

Der Kassierer machte alle die in Captain Marvel gingen darauf aufmerksam, dass man bis ganz zum Schluss sitzen bleiben soll - “Es lohnt sich”

Auf den exakten Inhalt will ich nicht eingehen, - Spoiler Alarm, aber in der ersten geht es um Avengers 4 und in der zweiten wird noch etwas aus dem Film aufgelöst.
