Europe - The Final Countdown 1986
"The Final Countdown" is a song by the Swedish rockband Europe, released in 1986. Written by their lead singer Joey Tempest, it was based on a keyboard riff he made in the early 1980s, with lyrics inspired by David Bowie's "Space Oddity". Originally intended only to be a concert opener, it is the first single and title track from the band's third studio album of the same name. The music video, directed by Nick Morris, has received over 1 billion views on YouTube. The video features footage from the band's two concerts at Solnahallen in Solna, Sweden as well as extra footage of the sound checks and footage from Stockholm. The song "Pictures", from the 2017 album Walk the Earth, is a sequel to "The Final Countdown".
"The Final Countdown" became a success on the charts worldwide following its release during 1986 and 1987, reaching number one in 25 countries, and is regarded as the band's most popular and recognizable song. The single reached number 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and is the most successful song from the album on the Album Rock Tracks chart, peaking at number 18. That’s one clean looking board @cainskeltonmusic ! ・・・ My full main board for guitar, some of these have been on the board for a very long time, others are a little more recent. A subtle tremolo from @midfielectronics and a preamp tone coloring from @xoticusa’s EP Booster are always on, the @dwarfcraft and @keeleyelectronics are my wildcard slots, always swapping those out. I recently added a @missionengineering VM Pro Ultrasweep, which allows for incredible attack decay control, a great volume pedal. Next to that is a @wilsoneffects Freeker Wah which I believe is modeled after the one Tony Iommi played in Sabbath. Really quality underrated wah pedal. #missionengineering #wilsoneffects #xotic #pigtronix #fairfieldcircuitry #midfieffects #maxon #phaser #chorus #dwarfcraftdevices #dwarfcraft #chasebliss #chaseblissaudio #tonalrecall #delay #eventide #pitchfactor #keeley #reverb #vox #gretsch #fender . #guitarpedalboard #pedalsandeffects #pedals #pedalboard #effectspedals #guitarpedals https://www.instagram.com/p/CAxQ_JZnU8r/?igshid=fczzqc0871e2

The Mamas & the Papas - California Dreamin' 1965
The Mamas & the Papas was an American folk rock vocal group that recorded and performed from 1965 to 1968, with a brief reunion in 1971. The group was a defining force in the music scene of the counterculture of the 1960s. Formed in New York City, the group consisted of Americans John Phillips, Cass Elliot, Michelle Phillips, and Canadian Denny Doherty. Their sound was based on vocal harmonies arranged by John Phillips, who adapted folk to the new beat style of the early 1960s. The Mamas & the Papas released five studio albums and 17 singles, six of which made the Billboard top 10, and has sold close to 40 million records worldwide. After their break-up in 1968, the band reunited briefly to record the album People Like Us in 1971 but split again shortly after the album was released. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 for their contributions to the music industry.
"California Dreamin'" is a song written by John and Michelle Phillips in 1963 and first recorded by Barry McGuire. The best-known version is by the Mamas & the Papas, who sang backup on the original version and released it as a single in December 1965. The song peaked at number 4 in March on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Cashbox. It reached number 23 on the UK charts upon its original release, and re-charted after its use in a Carling Premier commercial in 1997, peaking at number 9. It was certified three-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in June 2023 and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. In 2021, Rolling Stone placed the song at number 420 in its "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list. The song is used repeatedly in the 1994 Hong Kong film Chungking Express as a central plot point and a cover by the Beach Boys was used on season 4 of Stranger Things.

Prince - 1999 1982
"1999" is a song by American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and actor Prince, the title track from his 1982 album of the same name. Originally peaking at number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100, a mid-1983 re-release later reached number 12 in the US, while a 1985 re-release peaked at number 2 in the UK. On January 16, 1999, it charted on the Hot 100 at number 40. Following Prince's death in 2016, the song re-charted on the Hot 100 at number 27, making it the fourth separate time the song had entered that chart and the third different decade in which the song re-charted.
The inspiration for the song came from a TV documentary Prince watched about Nostradamus. In the film, he predicted that a terror would fall upon the world in 1999. The next day at rehearsals, Prince discussed the documentary with his bandmates, where they imagined a huge party would be thrown knowing this terror was about to happen. Prince shares lead vocals on the track with members of his band the Revolution, namely Dez Dickerson, Lisa Coleman and Jill Jones. Originally conceived to be a three-part harmony, it was later decided to separate out the voices that started each verse.
75,9% partied like it's 1999! 🥳🎉 Previous Prince polls: #69 "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold", #328 "Raspberry Beret".

Kabul Dreams - Sadae Man 2010
Kabul Dreams is a rockband from Afghanistan, established in 2008 in Kabul. The band has paved the way for a modest but growing rock scene in Afghanistan, rebuilding itself after decades of war. The band's motivation to perform came from their own love for music, but also from a public hunger for a new life after war – a life that included new music and art. Kabul Dreams plays music in both English and Dari; one of Afghanistan's native languages. The song "Sadae Man" ("My Voice") is about the importance of Afghanistan's youth having a collective voice.
All of the band members were born in Afghanistan, but they were displaced to neighboring countries as refugees during the Taliban reign. After the fall of the Taliban regime, the band members returned to Afghanistan and met each other in Kabul. Their musical influences include Sex Pistols, Metallica, Nirvana and Oasis. In 2014, the band relocated to Oakland, California to grow their presence in the American music scene.
