Luminar Behind the Scenes, Instagram post date: 03-23-2017

For today's post I am going to do something a little bit different and show a behind the scenes look at a photo I am currently working on for a project with Macphun. This was photographed last fall in @grandtetonnps . I use a number of different photo software packages to get various looks in my photos. For this photo I first used Capture One Pro from @phaseonephoto to process the RAW file. . In this screenshot, you can see a before and after of the stylizing I did, this time in Luminar from @macphun . After I got the look I wanted, I used ON1 RAW from @on1photo to remove dust spots and resize theimage. I will be able to print this at least 20"x40" insize. . Why so many programs? Each has it's own strengths and I often find myself jumping between programs to maximize those strengths. . How about you? What is your favorite software, and do you too use more than one? . "Shades of Blue" - I photographed this 2 years ago in @grandtetonnps during my annual fall foliage workshop. . I was demonstrating to my students how to look for the less obvious photographs. This is an interesting study of light and shadow using just one color. . The evening light at the Tetons can be amazing when the sun dips behind the mountain range. A cow moose looks up after feeding in a river bank near the Gros Ventre River in @grandtetonnps last fall. . I photographed her during my annual fall foliage photo workshop there. Hello there Spring!! Although lately it feels more like summer here in Phoenix/Scottsdale with temps in the 90's the past week 🔥☀️. . I photographed these wildflowers and cholla cactus a few years ago here in the Phoenix Valley with some great backlighting. . I have been so busy at my exhibition here at @celebrationoffineart that I have not had a chance to go out and photograph the wildflowers this year, which I hear are pretty spectacular. . "Mather Point Sunrise" - In 2006 I visited @grandcanyonnps for the first time ever. In fact it was the first time I was out west except for a trip to CA. . This photo was taken the very first time I had seen the Grand Canyon - a beautiful sunrise photographed at Mather Point. I will never forget the feeling seeing the Canyon for the first time - a life changing experience.
