Here’s a fun bird I tried so hard to capture last year and finally got a good shot of this January, a Belted Kingfisher!! As their name suggests, they are great fishers, flying along waterways and diving for fish once spotted! Their calls are distinctive once you learn them but they fly so fast it can be hard (for me) to get good pictures of them unless they are perching 😂😅💙 . . . Red Barn Hay Bales 4180 A by Jim Choate Via Flickr: Barn, hay bales and wheat fields south east of Moscow, Idaho in The Palouse late on a summer day. When I walked-by a photo of this barn on the wall of the place where I was staying, I thought, "I've been in this area a number of times. Wish I had seen this beautiful barn." Late the next day, driving over a hill on a dirt road, there it was in a small valley with a foreground of scattered hay bales. Talk about lucky!

After a nice long break I’m back to posting! 😁 Starting with a brand new bird for me captured on New Years Day, a White-Breasted Nuthatch! Unfortunately it flew away before I was able to get any closer/better pics but I’m just so excited to already have some new birds to add to my count this year! My final bird totals for last year were 105 photographed, 115 including the ones I didn’t get photos of but saw or heard their distinctive calls! I’d love to get 150 photographed this year and I think it shouldn’t be too hard to actually try for that! During my break I’ve already gotten 49 different birds photographed and have seen/heard up to 69! 😄💕 . . .
