A saddle bronc continues to get airborne after it had dumped it's rider at a roundup in Bozeman, Montana. . A shutter speed of 1/3200s completely froze all of the action for me, manually focused with my @sigmaphoto 150-600mm lens on my Sony a7R camera. . This herd of bison look small when photographed with a telephoto lens and framed with the Teton Range behind them. . I photographed this a couple weeks ago. @whitneyhallart and I had noticed this herd grazing at the top of a hill in the late afternoon with the sun poking through the clouds. A cowboy tries to hold on to a saddle bronc as it tries to buck him off at a roundup in Bozeman, Montana. . I loved the timing of this photo, especially with the other guys cheering him on. If you look closely, you will see the flash going off on the camera from the guy taking photos. . I decided to do a selective color on this photo to better separate the horse & rider from the background. So I first processed the full-color photo in Capture One Pro. Then I used ON1 RAW from @on1photo to convert it to b&w and to do the selective coloring. Blue hour sunrise at @grandtetonnps . I photographed this last weekend during the blue hour just before sunrise. It was so nice and peaceful watching the light on the snow covered Tetons get brighter and brighter. I barely noticed the below-freezing temps! . This was photographed using a split neutral density filter from @formatthitech to balance the exposure of the brighter mountains with the darker foreground. . I am off to one of my favorite National Parks this weekend - @grandtetonnps - where this was photographed a couple years ago in the fall. This will be the earliest in the year I have had the chance to get there - excited to see the Teton range covered in snow!! . Follow along on Instagram this weekend - I will be giving a behind-the-scenes look via the Stories, and might even do a live session or 2 if you are all up for it! 😃 . I will be headed out there with my girlfriend and fine art painter @whitneyhallart as she looks for references for her wildlife paintings, and I am sure she will do some postings here on IG this weekend too! . This scene was photographed at the Kinishiba Ruins in Whiteriver, Arizona almost 7 years ago. At the time, I was summering in Pinetop, Arizona which is not too far from here. . Over the years I have tried processing this photo in different programs trying to get something I liked but was always unsuccessful. Even for me, some photos are simply not easy to develop and this was one of them. It was photographed with great light, but I could never make the photo "come alive". . While working on a project for @macphun I took yet another look at this image using their program #luminar and finally was able to achieve a feeling in this photo that I was very pleased with and that I was looking for all along. It might have taken 7 years, but I don't mind. . The lesson here is to not give up on photos you are struggling with. It may take a few years, but experiment with different programs and take your time. Eventually you may get just the look from your photo that you were hoping for. .
