Disclaimer! ⚠️: this is not meant to take jabs at the ocs as some of these characters have unpleasant personalities. I chose these based on similar traits, outfits they’d look good in, and the ultimate talents. If you would like me to alter the outfit, I will. It just needs to be recognizable as the specific character’s outfit. This will take me an incredibly long time, upwards to multiple weeks. Since I am doing splash arts and one big art piece. If you are uncomfortable with the character your oc was given, please let me know and I’ll do my best to rearrange things. I will only being drawing YOUR oc in THEIR outfit and pose. I will not be mixing the characters.
this’ll be a long post so get ready
First off, this can contain spoilers for Danganronpa V2.
Kyoko Kirigiri technically shows up for the anime version on V2 but I want to include as many ppl as possible. + she’s my favorite so haha
Oc: Akari Fuyutsuki (@thewinterpillarhashira)
Talent: The Ultimate Detective
An honorable mention since Eva thought Celestia would work better than Makoto 😋
Oc: Eva Himiko (@muitsuri)
Talent: The Ultimate Gambler—
Byakuya Togami is the first person I thought of for this oc 😋 he and Makoto are sorta same in the sense that they appeared in the anime. Although Byakuya had an impersonator pretend to be him in the actual game
Oc: Celestine Ellis (@saffron0v0)
Talent: Ultimate Affluent Prodigy
IF ANYONE KNOWS TERUTERU’S PERSONALITY, IM NOT TRYNA BE MEAN I PROMISE— I hate Teruteru okay 😭 I just like his accent and outfit
Oc: Kirika (I couldn’t find her last name) (@ta-ni-ya)
Talent: The Ultimate Chef
Mahiru Koizumi so underrated omg 😭 I loovveee herrrr.
Oc: Marilyn Kaizumi (@cloudymistedskies)
Talent: The Ultimate Photographer
Peko Pekoyama has such a fun name omg. I like saying it over and over again. Once again, and underrated character
Oc: Ilona Dulina (@tokito-dulya20)
Talent: The Ultimate Swordswoman
I don’t really like Hiyoko either, but she’s adorable and I think her outfit would suit this oc very well
Oc: Akira Sakuranbura (@tinyperson00)
Talent: The Ultimate Traditional Dancer
Ibuki is so chaotic and I love it. She’s so adorable. I love that she’s described to be pitch perfect and tone deaf at the same time—
Oc: Irina Gonshira (@shycroissanti)
Talent: The Ultimate Musician
Mikan is such a shy girl. She also cries when embarrassed and stutters a lot. She’s not my favorite, but I don’t hate her. She’s really clumsy which I find relatable—
Oc: Milo Suzuki (@larz-barz)
Talent: The Ultimate Nurse
Usami will be taking the place of Nekomaru since I don’t feel comfortable with draw Yuna in his clothes and such. Plus Usami’s the teacher and I thought it would be fitting.
His character was a little hard to choose, but he’s actually pretty adorable. He calls everyone else “mortals” and he’s my sister’s favorite character
Oc: (I can’t remember her name 😭) (@littleolspring112)
Talent: The Ultimate Animal Caretaker
Nagito is quite possibly the most popular character in the entire franchise. Man has simps left and right. It’s probably bc he’s a little crazy— and he has a rlly sad backstory 😭 he’s also the ✨ main antagonist ✨
Oc: Boo (idk their last name) (@boo-simplified)
Talent: The Ultimate Lucky Student
Chiaki is the lead female character and I like her quite a lot!
Oc: Hanako Kimura (@rion-isnot-an-ai)
Talent: The Ultimate Gamer
Hajime Hinata is the lead protagonist in this game CONGRATS TO THIS OC WHO HAS HIM
Oc: Yuki Ayaka (@sweetstarryeyedgirl)
Talent: He doesn’t have a talent though 💀
I think you can tell by just looking at him… but he’s the mastermind. He also shares a body with Hajime 😃 (wee wo wee wo, wee wo wee wo weeeee—)
Oc: Ayuna Katsuki (@ayunakatsukiwolfhashira)
Talent: I think he’s also talentless, just really smart—
My beautiful, stupid, girl. I love Akane. She’s really energetic and loud so she fits this oc
Oc: Asai (I can’t find her last name 😚) (@night-mince0)
Talent: The Ultimate Gymnast
Sonia’s got two outfits, I’ll do this one though. She’s a literal sweetheart
Oc: Kiyoka Watanabe (@kiyokatokito)
Talent: The Ultimate Princess 0-o
Kazuichi is such a goody goober. Keep your beanie on though. Please.
Oc: Amari Delarosa (@naramaiz)
Talent: The Ultimate Machanic
Kazuichi calls him “boss man” and “baby face”. He hates it. Internally a sweetheart though
Oc: Basil (idk his last name) (@aceofstars0)
Talent: The Ultimate Yakuza— yes he’s part of the mafia. or at least his parents are
And that was the last one 😭
ima plan on doing a group pic, but I might not end up doing it— just cause it’s a lot of work 😭
Ima replace Nekomaru with Usami/Yuna and add poses for everyone else who’s character doesnt show up (that’s not Byakuya I promis, that’s the impersonator)

"Nanami-san, I have new intel. Are you safe right now?" She could immediately tell Ryota was eager to share the information. "...Yeah I should be. I'm in my office and the doors locked. There's no way for people to peep inside, either." Checking the door again, she confirmed it was, in fact, locked shut. She was as private as can be. "Oh, that's great! I'll send the info your way and you can review it in full. I-I think you'd really like to hear his."
Her attention was diverted from the phone when her computer got a notification for a file being sent to her. She quickly went to open the file with her free hand and skimmed through to the most relevant parts.
'The Remnants of Despair. They are an elite sub-section of the terrorist group calling themselves "Ultimate Despair" that appear to be viewed as secondary leaders to the late Junko Enoshima. All of it's known members are all former Hope's Peak Academy students. Here, we have listed the information gathered regarding the identified Remnants;
"Hypno Dancer" Hiyoko Saionji, the Ultimate Japanese Traditional Dancer.
"Death Rock" Ibuki Mioda, the Ultimate Musician.
"Bullet Hell" Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, the Ultimate Yakuza.
"One-Woman Army" Peko Pekoyama, the Ultimate Swordswoman.
"Cannibal Kitchen" Teruteru Hanamura, the Ultimate Cook.
"Beast Brute" Akane Owari, the Ultimate Gymnast.
"Despair Shot" Mahiru Koizumi, the Ultimate Photographer.
"Queen of Madness" Sonia Nevermind, the Ultimate Princess.
"Monster Whisperer" Gundham Tanaka, the Ultimate Breeder.
"Medical Nightmare" Mikan Tsumiki, the Ultimate Nurse.
"Fist of Despair" Nekomaru Nidai, the Ultimate Team Manager.
"Despair Factory" Kazuichi Soda, the Ultimate Mechanic.
"God of Death" Nagito Komaeda, the Ultimate Lucky Student.
Additionally, there are two more that have been reported, but we are unable to fully identify. Here are the information we have gathered thus far;
"Shapeshifter", assumed to be the Ultimate Imposter.
"The Observer", identity and talent unknown.
More information to be added.'
This was the first section that caught her eye. This is the information they got on them, huh... They have everyone. Even Sagishi-san and Kamukura-kun have been reported somewhat. ...Ah, well, they don't have Yukizome-san... She continued to look through the file until she reached another interesting segment.
'There have been sightings of several Remnants converging to the same locaton. We are keeping an eye on the area to catch them before they can make their move. They are undoubtedly plotting something, and we cannot let it come to fruition.
The sighted Remnants are as follows:
Hiyoko Saionji, Ibuki Mioda, Peko Pekoyama, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu, Teruteru Hanamura, Akane Owari, Mahiru Koizumi, Sonia Nevermind, and the as of yet unidentified "Observer".
Await further reports.'
They're gathering together...? Even Kamukura-kun... This can't be good. The others might be going there too. "...Mitarai-kun, do you think you could keep a close eye on news about the gathering Remnants? If the Future Foundation tries to catch them all in one go, it'll end in disaster. ...And, I don't want them to get hurt in the inevitable war that'll break out."
"Ah, um, I-I can do that sure... I'll keep my eye out for it. ...But, we can't just leave them alone either... T-they're probably planning something horrible... W-what if they launch a huge attack now that Enoshima is gone? A-and what i-if t-th-they start searching f-f-fo-for the survivors of the killing school life to take revenge? W-w-w-what a-a-about Naegi-kun!? H-h-h-he'll b-b-become such a b-b-bi-big target for them! What i-if-"
"Mitarai-kun. Calm down. I won't let them do anything like that. If they are planning something, I'll stop them. No matter what. ...Okay? So, don't worry so much. Everything will be okay...I think." Finally managing to calm him down, Chiaki began thinking about what to do in case they are plotting something. ...If I run into Komaeda-kun or Kamukura-kun again, maybe I could convince them to stop it. ...Or, rather, I could convince Komaeda-kun to convince Kamukura-kun to stop the others. Somehow, I get the feeling the others wouldn't listen to him even when in despair...
"...Thanks for the info, Mitarai-kun. I'll take a closer look now, so I'm gonna have to hang up now. Talk to you later." After they'd both said their goodbyes, she hung up the phone and looked at the file again.
"...I will save you. No matter what. I won't let her get what she wants."

.·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙ 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝟏 *̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ .
"What a lovely day, huh?"
A young man with pale skin and pearlescent fluffy hair strolled through the public park, hands tucked inside his green jacket as his gray-green hues glanced over at the foliage of luscious leaves above him. The sun's rays seeped through the crevice of the thick shade, creating several splotches of white light unto the grassy land below. The young man let out an exhale as he proceeded onward, exiting the forest of regular trees and unto the central plaza where a lone cherry blossom was kept and tended.
The silverette's thought deviated over to his friends — the whole class of Hope's Peak's 77th students whom he considered closest. Although one may say that only a select few were really fond of this particular male. His pace slowed as he began reminiscing about his wonderful time with his friends during his last two years of attending Hope's Peak Academy. Their faces invaded his mind, softly reminding him of the unique companions he had during his stay at the renowned school.
Chisa Yukizome. His class's homeroom teacher has stuck with them for almost two years. He could still remember the first meeting he had with her and her calling him 'rotten orange'. Up until now, he couldn't let the memory disappear. Chiaki Nanami. The class's chosen representative. Nagito held great respect for her, as he considered her as the beam of hope for all. Ryota Mitarai. The boy was a passionate one. Nagito could never fathom Ryota's love for anime, though he could see some similarities between them as he too, has great admiration for hope.
Mikan Tsumiki. Although meek and a bit clumsy, he still respected the girl for her talent as the Ultimate Nurse. Kazuichi Soda. He is one of the closest friends Nagito could ever have. The pink-haired mechanic has been a great help in regards to appliances that Nagito would accidentally destroy throughout the years. Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu. Nagito was really amazed by Fuyuhiko's talent. After all, it's rare to personally meet the leader of a dangerous Yakuza.
Teruteru Hanamura. A great chef, Nagito would give him that. Although the male was full of dirty thoughts that even someone like him would be keeping an eye on the brunette. Sonia Nevermind. As a princess, Nagito was respectful towards her. Furthermore, he was intrigued by her obsession with the cult and having a bizarre interest. Gundham Tanaka. A peculiar person. Nagito couldn't even decipher the Dark Lord's eccentric behavior.
Mahiru Koizumi. Another passionate student. Even though they weren't that close, he could see that she cared about her friends and had a strong liking for Hiyoko. Hiyoko Saoinji. A troublesome child. Even though Hiyoko has expressed her dislike towards him openly, Nagito just accepts whatever she sees of him. Akane Owari. A fiery girl. Nagito wouldn't like to be caught in trouble with her because of her strength.
Peko Pekoyama. A great swordswoman. Nagito admired her skills and talent. And although they also weren't close, he could sense an intimidating aura surrounding her. Nekomaru Nidai. A strong man, though boisterous at that. He too was another person Nagito doesn't want to get into trouble with. Ibuki Mioda. A passionate girl with her music. She was quite lively and seemed to know how to get the room rowdy.
Seeing a vacant bench not far from the cherry blossom, Nagito settled on the provided furniture and rested for the meantime. The wind immediately picked up shortly after, making his white locks sway in every direction it could. Several pink petals floated around the area as the breeze swept them away. It was truly a mesmerizing sight for Nagito. But above all, the focal point of today's trek was just there staring back at him.
A couple was standing underneath the infamous cherry tree, their fingers interlocked together as they watched the petals float down the earth; a family of four was sitting on the grass nearby, seemingly on a picnic as they happily chatted with each other; a couple of kids ran around the area playing tag; and there's also a trio of friends walking past, smiles on their faces.
Just watching those countless people made the male somewhat... empty. Ever since attending Hope's Peak, he didn't expect that he would forge such a unique bond with his classmates like that. Furthermore, his lonely days before due to his luck cycle were little to no concern for him nowadays. At least, that's how he hoped it would be.
His eyelids dropped halfway, gray-green eyes staring blankly at the happy crowd before him while he stayed seated by the lone bench afar from them.
It was another beautiful day on the island. The main course students of Hope's Peak were having their once-in-a-lifetime vacation on one of the most secluded yet infamous islands called Jabberwock Island. The school decided to let its students take a break from the constant studying and harnessing of their ultimate talents and let them have a week's rest on the island that they owned. It was truly his luck that he was able to attend both the academy and even go on such a break like this. And furthermore, he was surrounded by many Ultimates other than his classmates which made the boy elated.
Standing under the warmth of the summer sun, Nagito shielded his eyes from the harsh rays with the help of his raised arms. He just woke up from his slumber and exited the cottages his whole class was staying in. He strolled the garden leading towards the hotel lobby, meeting no one on the way there. Upon arriving at the restaurant on the second floor, he was greeted by a marvelous sight he didn't expect to be seeing.
There, around a large white table, were his female classmates. All of them were busy creating what seemed to be various deserts; well, at least most of them were actually doing the work. He was rendered speechless and could only blink at his classmate's jovial expressions. A few moments had passed when finally, someone in the group noticed his unexpected arrival. Chiaki turned around and spoke his name in a small questioning matter, asking him why he was there. After she spoke, all the other girls' attention was on him.
Hiyoko began throwing various insults she could muster up about his ungentlemanly behavior as Mikan was rambling to herself with a nervous tone, apologizing repeatedly that Mahiru had to calm her down. Seemingly confused by what was happening around him, Nagito just stood there dumbfounded, sweat-dropping as some of the girls were making a big fuss over this certain matter. The petite traditional dancer stomped her way towards Nagito, a hand on her waist while the other was pointing accusingly at him. This made the poor silverette back away from her, hands up in surrender as he chuckled awkwardly, unsure how to respond to the situation.
Fortunately, the matter was settled promptly when their homeroom teacher arrived at his rescue.
Shortly after exploring the other small islands of Jabberwock, the whole 77th class was then gathered by Chisa. She told them that Ibuki had requested to perform at Titty Typhoon, inviting everyone to watch her perform. Although some were not in the mood for it, they begrudgingly followed the rest of the class towards the music venue. Nagito did not express any negative opinion on this; rather, he was quite looking forward to it. After all, he wanted his ultimate classmates to bond and work together and become an even better beam of hope for all.
After they entered the venue and placed a sign outside the door saying 'on use', they took it upon themselves to settle comfortably anywhere they wanted. Ibuki, Hiyoko, and Chiaki stood on the stage as they said they were performing. Chisa's eyes lit up as she looked forward to their performance while the others murmured to themselves or minded their own business, which of course, the teacher scolded them for their unsupportive behavior.
In just a minute, the lights started to flash different colors on them and they started doing their own thing on stage.
Several main course students played in the clear beach water on a sunny morning. All of them wore uniform swimwear provided by the school. A group of some were just hanging out on the sandy shore, a blanket laid beneath them as a large parasol was set up to shield them from the harsh rays. Each homeroom teacher stayed far behind, watching their students mingle with each other and bond with careful eyes. The class of batch 77 was by some coconut trees, a select few were just loitering by the sidelines while the group of Nagito, Teruteru, Mikan, Mahiru, Sonia, Ibuki, Gundham, Nekomaru, Kazuichi, and Fuyuhiko were by the shoreline.
The scarf-wearing male was building a sandcastle by one side, quietly doing it by himself without his classmates' disturbance. The Ultimate Yakuza was already in the water, swimming away from the group. Ibuki was running along the sand as well as the pink-haired mechanic. Sonia was kicking up some sand as the burly coach was flexing his muscles. Teruteru had a bottle of sunscreen in his hold, trying to talk the girls into rubbing some on his body while Nagito enjoyed watching them interact.
Seeing her students this lively in the morning, Chisa decided to use Mahiru's camera which the redhead left with her to capture this rare moment. She walked up to the rowdy group and raised the device to her eye level. Shouting out a heads-up, Mikan looked at her at the exact time the photo was taken.
Nagito stood by the sidelines, leaning against a sturdy coconut tree as he watched his classmates fuss over the said fruit. With his arms crossed, he remained as muted as he could ever be while his friends' shouts and occasional banter echoed in his direction. Holding the huge green fruit in her hand, Ibuki rambled out as she adjusted the coconut in her hold according to Peko's instruction. Meanwhile, Kazuichi was expressing his concerns with a hand on his pink hair while Teruteru was spouting out salacious jokes.
In a while, a loud thwack was heard and the green fruit was split into half perfectly. Kazuichi immediately took the coconut from Ibuki's hold and admired the flawless demonstration of the swordswoman's skills. Soon after, he took a sip of the juices inside, his eyes gleaming with pure delight as he shared some with his companions.
The white-haired student could only grace a minuscule smile at their interaction with each other, letting out a small sigh as he pushed his body from the trunk he was leaning at, and dusted his clothes. Soon after, he heard his name being called by no other than Kazuichi; insisting on trying out the coconut for himself. This simple gesture made his smile widen a small amount, his chest heaving with a feeling of being accepted.
Heeding his classmate's words, he made his way over to the small group.
Today's the last day of their break on Jabberwock Island. Seeing that everyone would be returning to their home country and back to their everyday school lives, Chiaki decided to let everyone experience a wonderful memory to bring them home. Nagito saw the gamer girl with their peach-haired teacher at the supermarket, buying what seemed to be a box full of fireworks. There were students from other classes as well, and all of them seemed to be cooperating with whatever was planned for the later hour.
Noticing the white-haired student, Chiaki ushered him closer. Confused by the commotion around him, the male asked the two what was happening. Chisa then explained to him that they'd be doing a fireworks display later that night and that every class would be participating and helping out with the preparations. Nagito let out an amused 'oh', nodding in understanding to her words. Gracing a small smile, he then offered his help in doing the heavy lifting for the girls, which they gratefully accepted.
Hours later, the preparation for the summer fireworks display was finally finished. Every Ultimate student wore unique yukatas as they gathered outside on the sandy beach. The sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore and the soft crickets resonated around the place. Quiet murmurs of friends entered Nagito's ear as he stood a few meters away from his group. His eyes darted from side to side — eyeing several students, both above and below his level. Every face was filled with either smiles, excitement, or just simple interest in the upcoming event.
Facing the waters, the male then briefly closed his eyes to savor the moment. After a short while, a male staff shouted over everyone, announcing that the fireworks would begin in a minute. The crowd's excitement increased because of that. Sporting a tiny smile on himself, Nagito faced his attention to the glimmering skies above. It didn't take long before the boy felt an arm plop itself around his shoulder. Turning his attention to the side, he was met with a serious face of Kazuichi.
Seeing that the white-haired student was aloof and absent-minded as usual, Kazuichi let out a sigh and began tugging the boy towards their group. He then explained that he shouldn't be out there away from his class and that he should spend his last day on the island with his friends. Now arriving back with the group, Nagito was greeted by a smiling Chiaki and Chisa. Ibuki started to shout wildly as Hiyoko and Nekomaru followed after.
Soon after, the first firework flew straight to the heavens with a loud swoosh. Upon arriving at its peak height, the firework exploded with an even louder pop and blanketed the dark skies with its bright colors. Grayish-green hues were staring intently at the barrage of fireworks following shortly after the first one. The boy's mouth was slightly parted and his attention was solely focused on the explosion in the skies. He let out a soft 'wow', admiring the beauty of the fireworks as they filled him with warmth on the inside.
The light dimmed shortly after he and his whole class settled comfortably on their chosen seats. There was no one else in the cinema other than Hope's Peak's 77th batch of ultimate students. Nagito sat beside a sleeping Chiaki, and beside her was their homeroom teacher with a box of popcorn resting quietly on her lap. He could hear the constant shuffling of the said buttery delight in its container and munching behind him and just over to the farthest upper left were the noises emitted by Teruteru, Mikan, and Ibuki while Mahiru repeatedly shushed them. Just a few seats above, he could also hear Kazuichi's poor attempt to talk to the Novoselic royalty.
In a short while, the movie began playing. The booming sound coming from the speakers instantly silenced the rambunctious students, making them lean their attention toward the large screen on the front. Nagito's pale-colored orbs sparkled in delight, mouth parting as he let out a 'wow'. He leaned further on his seat with his gaze glued to the movie front. Certainly, this was the best time he could ever have spent his weekends with his class.
It was already that time of the year. The month when every neighborhood was in the mood for something supernatural and scary. The whole class of batch 77 spent the whole day decorating their classroom fitted with the Halloween sensation. The windows were covered with thick black curtains, a spiderweb design stitched on them. There were several carved pumpkin lamps latched on the walls, the yellow glow emitted from its carved face. The floor was covered with a dark carpet with a magic circle design. And in the middle of the room were two tables for the food.
Nagito was once again standing by the sidelines, watching his classmates enjoy their wonderful holiday. Mahiru briefly walked up to the silverette, telling him to carry the camera for her in the meantime as she entertained Hiyoko. The male obeyed her request, and she was dragged by the blonde dancer moments later. Taking this opportunity to try out the gadget, the boy raised the camera to his eye level and saw his classmates through its lens.
Mikan, Akane, and Nekomaru were standing by the feast table — Nekomaru, with a large pumpkin head and a tophat watched as Akane wolfed down the meat with vigor, the young nurse was watching in interest with a witch hat perched on her dark tresses. Just beside them were Mahiru and Hiyoko. In one corner of the room were Ibuki and Chiaki, both wore a witch hat. However, in Ibuki's case, it seemed that the hat had two spikes. Kazuichi and Teruteru also wore a large pumpkin head as they happily did something together.
The remaining people were on the other side of the room, out of shot from Nagito's camera. After he put down the camera, Sonia came up to him. With sparkles in her eyes, she requested him to take a photograph of her and Gundham. The two of them wore a matching outfit: Sonia wore a red wine dress with arm-length gloves and a black cape, perched on her head was a witch's hat. Meanwhile, Gundham wore a red wine vampire-styled tuxedo and a black cape, wrapped around his neck was his signature scarf.
The white-haired student nodded at the princess' request, and immediately, the two went in front of him at a reasonable distance away. Nagito raised the gadget once again to his eye level, ready to take the photo with just the click of a button. Posing as they did so, the boy pushed the button and captured such a wonderful memory.
Red and blue colors hang from the ceiling, each string of light connected from the edges of the classroom and gathered into the middle where a large Christmas tree was set. The tree was decorated with several unique ornaments, all of which were provided by the students of class 77. A yellow star was perched on top as Kazuichi and Gundham hung the remaining Christmas light around the spiky leaves, stepping on a provided ladder while Nekomaru kept a careful eye on them.
Everyone was elated for this season to finally come. And being true to the holiday season, almost everyone was sporting a Christmas accessory. Even Nagito had a red Santa hat placed upon his fluffy white hair. However, only Mikan was wearing a sexy red Santa suit being forced on her by her classmates. Once again idling by the side, his gaze then scanned the room and its inhabitants. Ryota and Teruteru were by the feast table, the chef was talking to the chubby boy about the meat he was holding while the latter was visibly drooling. Peko was leaning on the wall behind them, watching the two interact with a small smile on her face.
Akane, Chiaki, Mikan, Sonia, and Ibuki stood in front of Mahiru. They were lined up together with the nurse in the middle of them, flustered with her attire. Mahiru raised her camera to her eye level and captured the photo with just a click of a button. And just exactly as the shutters went off, Maga-Z hopped off the scarf-wearing male, making his face of surprise and reaching out to the small critter to be captured as well.
It was yet another fine yet cool day. Since it was finally the start of their winter vacation, Ibuki and a couple of others decided that they should spend the first day of their break doing some activities outside in the snow. And of course, because of how excited some are to experience this kind of activity for the first time, everyone agreed right away.
Wearing a thick green coat, a maroon scarf, and gloves, thick gray pants, and brown boots, Nagito settled inside one of the log cabins by the top of the skiing resort. He sat near the fireplace, warming himself up with hot chocolate while the embers lit up the cozy place. He could hear his classmate's loud blather even from his spot by the reception, and they were a few rooms away from where he was. Finally emerging from the changing rooms, the group of Ibuki, Chiaki, Kazuichi, Sonia, Akane, Nekomaru, and Gundham walked up to the rest of the class.
They first exchanged a few words with their homeroom teacher as she warned the group not to be reckless and to enjoy their time together. Now bidding goodbye, the group took off with a few only bringing along their ski equipment. Grayish-green pools watched as Chisa trudged over where he was and she casually leaned her forearms on the back of the couch he was sitting in. He simpered at her, asking what she required him.
The petite teacher only chuckled, then soon told him that he should spend his first day of winter outside with his classmates. Proving her point, she jutted her thumb at the remaining group walking outside the cabin to do their own entertainment in the snow. Chisa then sent him a bright close-eyed smile, leaving him soon after with her words ringing in his head.
After a short moment of warming up and finishing his drink, Nagito decided to best try out what his adviser recommended. Standing up from his comfy position by the couch, the young silverette sauntered over the glass doors. Cold breeze immediately welcomed him once he took a step outside. His gaze spotted the white snowflakes cascading down onto the fluffy blanket below. It's fluffy enough that if Nagito were to be tackled down on the ground, one may mistake him for the snow.
Noticing a bench by the side, Nagito decided that it may be for the best if he watched his classmates have fun once again. Just like what he always does. Once he sat comfortably on the wood, his attention leaned towards the earlier group standing a few meters away from him, lined up as they got ready to slide down the snowy slope. Ibuki and Kazuichi both go for the snowboard, Chiaki and Sonia settle for the ski, Nekomaru holds a large wooden door by his side, Gundham has his reindeer companion and Akane has nothing.
It would be an interesting sight for Nagito to see. And after a few minutes, Kazuichi yelled the words 'go' and everyone went sliding down with their chosen equipment. The silverette was surprised, for he didn't expect the outcome to be like this — Nekomaru zoomed past and was up in the air with his wooden board; Teruteru was somehow included in the whole ordeal, Akane running on top of his giant snow-engulfed body with his head poking out; Gundham standing on the back of his mount like the Dark Lord he is.
Nagito could only let out a light chuckle as they disappeared from his sight down to the base of the mountain.
Everyone gathered underneath the many cherry blossoms in the park. Set on the grass was a large picnic blanket that could house more than 15 people. The whole class of Hope's Peak's 77th batch sat on the cloth, fully covering the whole space. There were several foods and drinks laid in the middle of it all, ready to be shared and consumed amongst them. Nagito sat in the farthest corner, watching his classmates getting rowdy for a piece of Teruteru's cooking.
Amidst the commotion, Chisa took a plate of sushi, sandwich, and meat before handing it to her frost-haired student. He was surprised at the gesture at first and didn't immediately take the offer. But after a sweet smile coming from the teacher and her words of insistence, he gladly took the plate and ate its contents. Soon after, he was offered an orange juice from Kazuichi, commenting about Nagito's sickly physique and how he should take care of himself.
Teruteru jumped into the conversation, adding that he could make a special meal with a balanced diet for the boy. Soon after, the chain of comments and discussion now focused on this particular student. Nagito could only blink in surprise at the unexpected turn of events. He truly didn't expect them to even notice him at this point for how insignificant he could be. Though, deep inside, he was truly happy that he was finally a part of this class.
"Why did I have to remember those moments?"
Nagito hummed as he slowly recovered from his short daydream. Returning his gaze towards the cherry blossom in the center, he noticed that the crowd loitering around the tree prior was nowhere to be found. It was only by that time that he realized that the sun was already setting. Warm orange and yellow enveloped the land, making the park even more majestic in his eyes. The boy could still feel his heart erratically thumping against his chest from remembering his precious moments with his classmates. He exhaled, deciding to leave the place and go on his merry way.
"There's no reason for me to feel this way... After all, I'm just an insignificant insect compared to their bright future composed of God-given talents. It's inevitable for us to go our separate ways in the future. And it's better this way now that I'm just a trivial side character in their story."
The welcome ceremony ended in just a few minutes. Every student attending Hope's Peak — both from the main course and the reserve course — exited their respective gymnasiums and out into the school grounds. It was yet another year for Hope's Peak, and right now, there'll be 16 more ultimates added to the student roster. Nagito was simply happy that he could meet those 16. Though he was sure that they would consider him as insignificant as well. Well, not that he minded.
As per usual, the first day of school for the main course students isn't anything special; students can go to classes whenever they like, they can skip classes for the whole day whenever they like, and they can go anywhere on campus whenever they like. In short, they have absolute freedom in this school. There's only one thing that they are assigned: to hone their talents for the practical exams.
Seeing that he still has an hour to spare before homeroom starts — and an hour to spare before Chisa comes roaming the whole school property in search of her students — Nagito decided to venture deep into the forest at the west side of Hope's Peak Academy. He had known that the Reserve Course building was located here but in the past years, he didn't go anywhere near it. After all, it's not like he had any business with anyone there. But today, something was urging him to go there.
The sun peeked through the canopy of green leaves, leaving small spots of light on the ground. The chirps of the birds filled the place with some sort of sweet melody. His shoes made small crunching sounds as he stepped on the fallen leaves. Once leaving the dense thicket, he was blinded by the immediate invasion of light into his eyes.
The boy closed his eyes by instinct and raised his arm above his head. Slowly opening his lids, he squinted and let his eyes adjust. After everything was settled, Nagito's grayish-green hues were met with something. Or rather, someone. There, standing by the side of the reserve course gymnasium was a female student. She wore the compulsory uniform of Hope's Peak's Reserve Course student — a long-sleeved dress shirt, a red necktie, a black pleated skirt, and brown shoes with matching socks. The girl had [h/l] [h/c] hair and [s/c] skin, and in her hold was what seemed to be her school bag.
Nagito approached the girl, and almost instantly, her guard was up around him.
"Hello, I'm Komaeda Nagito. Nice to meet you," Nagito brazenly introduced himself with an aloof close-eyed smile and a small wave of his hand. "I'm the Ultimate Lucky Student... At least, that's what I'm called anyway."
Her [e/c] eyes cautiously scrutinized the boy, remaining silent as she did so. Her arms were folded and pressed against her chest, and her feet scooted backward while a crease was evident between her eyebrows. It took the girl a few moments before she relaxed her firm posture and heaved a muted exhale.
"[S-surname]... [Surname] [Name]," her voice softly answered. "I'm... I'm just a regular Reserve Course student."
"[Surname] [Name]-san, huh?"
"W-what are you doing here, Komaeda-san?" she squeaked, her face blooming with a shade of red from the nervousness of being around him. "I heard that the Main Course building was on the other side... then why is an ultimate like you wandering here?"
"An ultimate like me, huh? Someone like me doesn't deserve this title."
"Oh, nothing really. I just felt like going here," he merely shrugged his shoulders. "How about you? Aren't you going to your class now? I thought that the ceremony ended a while ago?"
"A-ah!" [Name]'s pink cheeks bloomed even further. She nervously averted her gaze somewhere but his face, sweat cascading down her temple at that.
"Hm? Is something the matter?"
"A-ah...! It's not like that... It's just... uhm..." she stammered, feeling embarrassed for what she was about to say. Nevertheless, she took a deep breath to calm herself down and slowly voiced out her concerns. "It's just... that I lost my way. I was supposed to wait for my friend so that we could go to the building together. But after a few moments of going with the crowd, I didn't realize that I had gone past our meeting place and when I returned here to find him, he was nowhere to be found. I searched for him everywhere around but he wasn't there. And when I looked back, I saw that the remaining students had left already. That's why..."
"Oh... So she's lost, huh? Interesting."
A minuscule smile graced Nagito's lips as he stared at the smaller girl. His gaze made her uncomfortable as she shifted her weight from one foot to another, rubbing her arms and clenching her school bag tightly. However, it seemed that the white-haired boy was oblivious to that fact as he continued his wordless observation of this particular student. There was something inside him that told him to help the poor girl find her way back to her respective building. But the other part was countering that he should mind his business.
The two stood there for what seemed to be minutes. An awkward silence befell upon them as [Name] was getting uncomfortable as time passed. But for Nagito, he was completely unperturbed by the atmosphere. He was debating whether or not to help the girl. After all, as long as he exists, as long as he interacts with people, someone will surely be affected by his luck cycle.
"Wait... Why am I concerned whether my bad luck would harm her? Or rather... Why did I approach her in the first place?"
"Uhm... Komaeda-san?" the [h/c]ette spoke up, trying to get the attention of the ultimate student. However, it seemed that he was so deep in thought that he didn't hear her. She sweat-dropped. Swallowing a lump in her throat and building up her courage, the girl spoke once again. "Komaeda-san?"
No answer. The mentioned boy only had his arm crossed as his gaze was fixated on the ground, his expression seemed serious and deep in thought. [Name] pursed her lips, unsure of what to do at the moment. Before she could speak another word, however, a new voice entered their hearing, making Nagito finally snap out of his thoughts and the girl turned in the direction of the sound.
"[Name]! There you are!"
A young man with short spiky brown hair and an ahoge came running after her. He wore the male uniform of the reserve course — a black, buttoned, long-sleeved suit jacket, white long-sleeved collared shirt with black tie, and matching pants and shoes. As he came near, Nagito scrutinized his appearance — fair complexion, the aforementioned hair, and olive green eyes. Just from the amount of sweat rolling down the side of his face, one can conclude that he came from far away just for this girl.
"H-Hajime!" [Name]'s face lit up at the sight of her lost companion. Turning her heels in his direction, she instantly ran to him and stopped just a foot away.
Nagito noticed how close the two were and continued his observation. He listened to their conversation, hearing words coming from the female's mouth of how worried she was getting lost on her first day of school and afraid that she might not be able to find him in due time. The male known as 'Hajime' sighed in relief, expressing his concerns over her as he too was afraid of losing her and even other people picking up on her.
"Who's this?"
"Ah! He's the main course student who found me here earlier," [Name] chirped as she turned around to glance back at the frost-haired student.
The brown-haired newcomer followed the girl's line of sight and his gaze immediately fell upon the slender almost sickly male. Nagito's grayish-green hues met with olive ones. It was subtle but both male's eyes widened a bit upon realizing who the other was. There was a tense atmosphere hanging upon them for a few minutes. Neither spoke or made a move. [Name] could only glance back and forth at the two boys, nervous sweat rolling down the side of her face.
Coughing into his fist, the brown-haired male dipped his head towards Nagito. "Hinata Hajime. Nice to meet you."
"Hinata Hajime-kun..."
"I'm Komaeda Nagito. Nice to meet you too," the boy responded, doing the same introduction he did earlier. "You two are new to my eyes. However, it can't be helped since I barely know any students here. Especially with the reserve course."
At the mention of that particular subject, Hajime's eyes dimmed and narrowed at the white-haired student. A scowl subtly settled itself on his face as he gently took his friend's hand and squeezed it. The girl gave him a confused look, though the brunette's attention was solely focused on Nagito as the latter continued rambling nonsense.
"If you two are in the reserve course then that means that you paid to get here, right? It must be a lot of money, huh? I actually have no opinions towards the reserve course in general; they are just talentless students wanting to attend Hope's Peak," he continued on as he regarded the two with an innocent smile. "But that's okay. After all, everyone wants to achieve their dreams. And if that dream is to attend Hope's Peak without being scouted then it—"
"I'm sorry, but [Name] and I have to go back to our building now. It's a pleasure to meet you," Hajime rudely cut the silverette's sentence, his tone was undoubtedly annoyed. He gave a quick bow and turned away.
Tugging at his companion, the two then began leaving the area. But not before they could go as far, Hajime glanced back at the Ultimate Lucky Student and glared at him. The latter could only watch the two walk away, his attention was still fixated on the direction that they took.
"They left... Maybe it's because they realized how a scum like me is insignificant to them."
He exhaled, slumping his shoulders sadly. He was truly disappointed with himself for being a lowly piece of trash and making even those two reserve course students stay away from him. Greenish-gray eyes shifted towards his pale hands, finding it interesting to stare at in the meantime. The boy cannot comprehend it but something inside him is changing.
"Komaeda-kun!"
The mentioned student turned around at the call of the voice. Instantly, he smiled at the newcomer. "Yukizome-sensei, you came looking for me."
"Geez! You had us worried, you know? I really thought something had happened to you," Chisa expressed, hands on her waist as she reprimanded her student. "I thought that we agreed that on the first day, everyone has to be already in class?"
"I'm sorry, sensei. You shouldn't have gone looking for a worthless person like me," Nagito replied, chuckling.
The petite teacher could only frown at his self-deprecating action. Before she could say anymore, shouts of familiar voices pierced through the air, signifying the arrival of the rest of the class. The two of them leaned their attention on the group who emerged from the forest and were walking towards them.
"Glad you found him, sensei!"
"Yes. And it appears that he wasn't injured of the sort."
"Tch. The bastard's got guts to make trouble for us."
"Ugh! It's bad enough to be walking across the whole campus searching for this guy early in the morning, but I have to walk with this pig following me? Truly gross!"
"I-I-I-I-I'm s-sorry!"
"Hiyoko-chan, that's not nice."
"Hmph. It is solely due to my dark powers that we were able to pinpoint this lost one's location. And it is of luck that he wasn't consumed by the warped gates of the underworld."
"Wow! You can even do that, Tanaka-san?"
"Of course. I am the Supreme Dark Lord, after all."
"Please don't listen to him Sonia-san! And you, where were you all this time?"
"A MAN'S GOTTA DO WHAT A MAN'S GOTTA DO!"
"I'm just glad that nothing bad happened to you, Komaeda-kun," the class representative said, sighing in relief as she approached the two with her gentle smile.
"Well, now that class 77 is complete, let's go back to our room!" Chisa cheered, clapping her hands a couple of times to gain the attention of her students before pumping her fist in the air. The rest followed suit.
"They came looking for me, huh...?"
The day went on without a hitch. Well, it's not like the students of the main course have any mandatory subjects to take on, just some common knowledge that they already knew and studied in the past years. That's why today, just like any other day in the past year, the class takes turns as to who plays what game. The curtains in the room were drawn, and the large screen television by the front of the class emits a bright light that illuminates the dim space.
As usual, Nagito wandered away from the whole class. As everyone was busy playing and making a fuss over small things by the television set, the white-haired student slipped away without anyone noticing. Arms by his side, his feet sauntered through the long hallway of the building. Despite the large structure of the new main course building, there are rarely any classrooms for the actual students and the majority of the rooms were laboratories for a specific talent an ultimate can use to hone their skills.
Just like any other day, Nagito's mind drifts off once again. He wasn't thinking of anything, in particular. And most of the time, he just goes with the flow and comments on the things that are recently happening around him. After all, this particular one is considered an airhead and unusually laidback even in a dire situation. His thoughts then promptly went to the two reserve course students he had met earlier.
"I am really lucky to have met those two..." he let out an airy chuckle upon remembering the shorter girl's flustered face and the brunette's glare before leaving.
"[Surname]-san..."
Almost instantly, his thoughts weaved their way to the girl he met. Nagito doesn't understand why... but there's something with those two. Especially that [h/c]-haired girl.
Three months have passed since another year of school started. Almost every other day, a certain white-haired ultimate would find himself wandering outside the main course building and into the west quarter of the academy where the reserve course building was located. From time to time, Nagito would visit the building, standing outside, and watch the students interact with each other through the glass windows of every room. He would stand there, leaning against his usual spot by the tree in the forest.
Oftentimes, if his luck would allow it, he would see a glimpse of [h/c] tresses passing by some windows. And most of the time he would see [Name], she was always with Hajime. Even with his two years of being an ultimate student at Hope's Peak, never once had Nagito experience being so interested in a particular student — a talentless reserve course at that. Though maybe it was because she was talentless that he was attracted to her; that he found someone he could see as an equal.
During those three long months, Nagito noticed the changes around [Name]. At first, it was only her and Hajime. But as time went by, their circle became larger. The silverette would witness Chiaki hanging around the two of them every after class at the central plaza where the largest fountain was located. They would just sit there, talking and playing games. Then soon after, a familiar black-haired songwriter and a blonde conglomerate heir joined in. Well, mostly the ravenette Ultimate Song Writer as he was the one actively conversing with [Name], Byakuya was just there to show himself but wasn't really interested in the group whatsoever.
Then another week had passed and Nagito could even notice the troublesome Ultimate Supreme Leader hanging around [Name]. He was curious as to why this was happening and how she had attracted those ultimates to her. Nevertheless, he was only focused on this particular [h/c]ette — he would notice how happy she was when with Hajime, how relaxed she was around Shiro and Chiaki, and how nervous and shy she was when with Kokichi or Byakuya. Despite that, it seemed to the silverette that the girl was extremely happy to be around them.
"Maybe I'll try and get to know her more..."
"Of course, if only she wanted to talk to worthless scum like me," Nagito murmured to himself, smiling and chuckling dryly after. As he finished his daily observation of the female, he turned around to leave [Name] to interact with her friends.
"Oh? I didn't expect to meet you here. It is truly my lucky day."
"H-huh?" a girl with [h/l] [h/c] hair whipped her head around at the sound of the familiar voice.
There, standing a few meters away from the bench she was sitting on was the man she had first met when starting her school here. [E/c] hues instantly met with grayish-green ones. Nagito had a smile on his face as he waved nonchalantly at the startled female. [Name]'s face flushed at his unexpected arrival and her eyes darted elsewhere due to nervousness. After all, she had met him months ago, and that first meeting wasn't a pleasant one, so to say. And besides, he appeared out of nowhere and then approached her again after those months.
"Hey, are you okay? You aren't afraid of me, are you?" his voice was laced with concern, eyebrows furrowing and expression slightly alarmed. After a mere minute, he sighed, dejected. "I see... Of course, you don't want to see me anymore. After all, I'm just a lowly piece of trash... Sorry if I bothered you..."
"N-no! It's not like that! Don't leave yet, Komaeda-san!" [Name] panicked, her arms flailing as she tried to dismiss his earlier thoughts.
"Oh? I see," he mused, eyes wide in disbelief. After, he sported his regular smile. "I'm happy that you accepted me here."
The girl let out a sigh of relief. Facing the male once again, she greeted him with a smile of her own. "Sorry for my outbursts, Komaeda-san. And also sorry that I didn't respond right away and make you believe that I didn't want you here."
"Ahaha! It's fine. I used to get those comments a lot," he chirped, taking the liberty to sit right next to her. "Where are your companions?"
"Oh! Hajime decided to hang out with Nanami-san in the meantime. And Togami-san and Ouma-san don't usually approach me without Sato-san here," the girl explained, a small smile on her face as she hung her head a bit.
"So that means that Togami-kun and Ouma-kun aren't here for [Surname]-san? But rather they only join in if Sato-kun was here?"
Nagito nodded in understanding and hummed in response. Though the thought of the infamous internet legend, Shion, bringing in more friends for [Name] was surely a surprise. However, the boy must admit that Sato Shiro is indeed popular because of his prestige and influence in the music industry. Added by the fact that his family was business partners with the affluent Togami group. But what Nagito was intrigued with was how he became close to this reserve course student.
"Uhm... Komaeda-san?" she nervously spoke up, glancing at his side profile.
"Yes, [Surname]-san?" he replied, giving her his full attention with the smile never leaving his face.
This gesture, however, made the girl's cheek redden a bit. She fiddled with her fingers and brought her gaze back down, ever so often stealing glances at the Ultimate Lucky Student. "Uhm... Why are you here, Komaeda-san? U-uh! Not that I don't want you here! It's just that... We barely see each other and the last encounter we had was three months ago... So I was wondering if you went here by pure coincidence?"
"Hm..." grayish-green orbs trailed from her flustered face and onto the environment in front.
"Why did I come here?"
Sporting a large grin, the white-haired regarded her question with a flippant answer. "I don't know myself. It's just my luck that I came here and met you. Can you believe that?"
Although the answer was shallow, the girl only hummed as an acknowledgment and said nothing; she didn't prod him further nor speak another word. She looked at his expression for a moment before focusing on the large fountain spewing crystal-clear water from the top and onto the basin below. Today was surely a warm afternoon. Serene silence befell the two while they continued to observe their surroundings next to each other. Though ever so often, Nagito would peek at her, his gaze sometimes lasting more than a mere minute.
There were lingering thoughts plaguing the boy's mind, though he was unsure whether to get them out or remain silent like how he used to be. He isn't the type of person wanting to approach others to get to know them. However, something inside him was urging him to take the first move — to initiate the conversation between them. After a moment of contemplation, he steeled his resolve and opened his mouth to speak.
"I'm sorry I took so long—[Name]?"
The two turned their heads to the newcomer, seeing a familiar brunette with a spiky cowlick resting on top of his head. The look of shock was evident on Hajime's face — olive green eyes dilated and mouth parted — before it was replaced with a glower. The [h/c]ette student was also surprised to see him there while Nagito just regarded the man with a blank face. Hajime took a deep breath and exhaled.
"Why are you here? What did you do to [Name]?" the talentless student barked at Nagito, a crease in between his eyebrows and a glare.
Nagito chuckled lightheartedly. He could sense the animosity coming from Hajime but he didn't mind it at all. "Oh...why am I so misunderstood? I just happened to meet with [Surname]-san here."
"Yeah, he's right. Don't be too critical of him, Hajime. I'm sure he meant no harm," the girl added, frowning at the brunette.
A look of shock plastered on Hajime's and surprise on Nagito. Surely, the two males didn't expect this shy and introverted girl to speak her mind like that. Furthermore, she just defended the frost-haired luck bearer. Her [e/c] eyes were glued on her friend, the sincerity and firmness reflected on those pools of hers. After seeing her like that, Hajime's expression softened.
"She just defended me... No one ever did that to me, even my own parents."
"Come on, [Name]. Lunch is ending and we have to get back to our class," the boy offered his hand out to her.
Standing up from the bench, the reserve course student dusted her skirt and trudged over to where Hajime was. She gratefully took his hand and they began walking away from the area. Though, of course, before they could get far away, the girl spun her head around and smiled brightly at him, waving at him with her free arm.
"See you later, Komaeda-san! I hope we'll hang out properly next time!"
Even after they disappeared from his sight, Nagito still sat by the bench. His eyes were fixated in the direction they left. Her words rang in his head like a persistent school bell. But unlike the usual empty feeling associated with it, Nagito could feel his chest tighten and butterflies swirling in the pits of his stomach. He didn't show it on his face, but he was extremely happy because of what she had said.
"Ah... How lucky am I to even earn your attention, [Surname]-san. For a scum like me, I'm so happy!"
Ever since that second meeting, [Name] stayed true to her words; the two hung out as she said they would. Nagito and her would meet up before class, during lunchtime, and even after class whenever she was alone. It was often rare to be seen without Hajime or the others by her side, and the silverette knew better than to intrude on the group since he didn't want to bring bad luck to her.
Seconds turn to minutes. Minutes turn to hours. Hours turn into days. Days turn to weeks. And weeks turn to months. It's yet another three months since the two began hanging out and deepening their bond. It was already then that the girl opened up to him by changing their way of calling each other. By now, the two were already on a first-name basis.
Slowly but surely, Nagito felt like he was getting super attached to the reserve course student. He felt calm and relaxed around her, he felt like he could be himself without worrying too much about being an incompetent insect compared to the other ultimates, and he could feel his body react a certain way towards her. His view of her was quite biased — maybe because he doesn't know her that much yet or because he chose not to see the girl's other side, he doesn't fully understand it himself.
Initially, he thought of her as nothing more than just a mere reserve course student. A talentless student, who, like him, was given a chance to attend the prestigious school known as Hope's Peak. At first, that lone similarity was the bridge that Nagito had with her. But as time goes on spending it with her, he unraveled several layers of her enigmatic personality.
She was shy, quiet, and introverted. She gets easily flustered and dislikes being at the center of attention. Whenever she was with a stranger or anyone she wasn't particularly close with, she would shy away and get nervous around them. The only people that she truly gets comfortable with are Hajime, Chiaki, and Shiro. The other ultimates, she doesn't really match with. Even with him, he had noticed that she still had her guard up. Understandably so... And besides, it's not like Nagito held it against her.
"You see, I was born with a unique type of luck. It's a cycle that I can't escape from. As long as I exist, that will definitely happen."
"A cycle? Does that mean that everything that has happened to you would result in either bad luck or good luck and followed by the other?"
Nagito looked surprised at her words. Blinking, he turned his attention to the curious [e/c] eyes staring back at him. Her pools were filled with pure curiosity and a sliver of hope deep within. A smile emerged on his face, closing his eyes as he chuckled airily.
"[Name]-chan, you truly are great. I half expect you to be confused by my words or would look at me like I'm some crazed person making all of these things up."
"Am...I right?" she asked, frowning upon seeing his reaction. "I'm sorry if I offended you somehow."
"There's no need for an apology coming from you. And yes, that's exactly how I live my days."
"Oh... that's kinda awful..." she expressed. "Do you experience it often?"
"Yep. There are instances that I would experience a minor stroke of the bad luck-good luck cycle. I remember when I first attended here, I was buying some soda on the way to school. But when I inserted my money and pushed the button, nothing came out. I was standing in front of it for minutes, commenting on how unlucky I could be. Then, out of nowhere, a truck came crashing down on the vending machine and every Dr. Hopper soda came out."
"Whoah! What a scary experience..." [Name]'s eyes were wide in disbelief at his words. A nervous sweat came rolling down from her temple as she regarded the boy with concern. "I kind of fear about how your luck could do this to you."
Nagito tilted his head at her, a relaxed and unperturbed smile resting on his lips. "Oh? Why's that?"
"Well..." the girl's face deflated with his apathetic tone. She hung her head and rubbed the back of her hand with her thumb. "What if you were seriously hurt? What if your luck puts you in a life-or-death situation?"
"So she's worried about me because of that? How cute."
He chuckled yet again. "It's fine. My luck doesn't harm me directly."
"But aren't you afraid of it?" the girl pressed, now looking back at him with a crestfallen expression.
"No," the silverette only shook his head. "I'm prepared to die anytime. As long as it's for hope, I would offer even my own life for it. There's nothing more fulfilling than becoming a stepping stone for everyone!"
"Oh..." she murmured upon hearing his response, slumping her shoulders in the process. "But I don't want you to be in that predicament... No one else does..."
Grayish-green eyes carefully observed the [h/c]ette's current expression. She was frowning and a melancholic aura hung above her, in contrast to Nagito's carefree one. He understands why she was sad, though what he didn't understand was why she was so concerned over his well-being. For a scum like him...he doesn't deserve to receive this kind of treatment. Yet, no matter how much he convinces himself that he doesn't deserve this girl, he knows to himself that he is genuinely happy when she comes around.
"But... despite that, I think you are brave to be able to pull through all of those unfortunate events that happened to you in the past. I mean, you still look so carefree and optimistic to me," [Name] declared, [e/c] pools brimming with a positive outlook despite the horrendous experience the male had. "And for you to offer your life for a great cause and be prepared for it, it's truly amazing. I can never be like that!"
Yet, despite her efforts to make the atmosphere between them somewhat light with her honest remarks, Nagito could only hum at that. [Name] sweatdropped at his unusual response, though decided that it might be better not to press any further. She returned her gaze to the front, in thought as did the ultimate student beside her. An awkward silence settled soon after.
"Brave...? You might be wrong about that, [Name]-chan. I am not brave. I never was."
"The sun is already setting... I think it's better if I go home now. Hajime might get worried," [Name] said, peering at the orange skies and then back at her companion. She stood from her seat and dusted her clothes, grabbing her school bag as well.
"If you don't mind spending time with a lowly bug like me, it'd make me super happy if you invited me again," Nagito told her, smiling softly and giving her a wave.
"I will. Bye-bye, Nagito-senpai!" with that farewell, the girl smiled back and then walked away.
Nagito's eyes once again watched her disappear from his sight. He exhaled, leaning against the bench and staring at the darkening skies. His mind wandered to the girl who had left him moments ago. He recalled their earlier chat — her thoughts, words, and expressions when he narrated about the ups and downs he had experienced with his luck. Her reaction was really something that he didn't expect. He really thought that she was like them, after all, that was surely the normal response.
He closed his eyes, letting her earlier concern for him and her honest words linger in his head. It was as if her voice played on repeat and he could not hear anything else but her statement. He started to understand what he thought was his initial attraction towards her because their similarity is now becoming more than that. After a few moments of contemplation, he opened his eyes again and decided that it was time to go home.
"I'm home," Nagito softly said as he entered his abode. Though of course, there's no one in the house to actually greet him back.
He sighed to himself, closed the door behind him, and proceeded to his room. The sound of the woods creaking beneath his feet was the only thing that he could hear echoing in his large, empty home. Once he reached the door to his room, he twisted the knob open and entered. A smile graced his face as he laid down on the comfy mattress. He exhaled once again, then inhaled the scent of his bed with his eyes closed.
"[Name]-chan... I wonder what you think of me... Because right now, I'm still struggling to find out what you are to me."

Edit: Ok so since the first part is probably lost in the ask box, I’ll just send everything together as a whole. Hope it fits. If there’s anything you would like to debate on, tell me. I want to hear your opinions.
Rpg Anon: Ok so before I start, go back to Jan 22, 2023 to see my original list of everyone's sentinel types. This list will be somewhat linked back to that one. It'll help describe why I chose those gens for them and how I felt about their playstyles. Tho, I believe Miu and Maki swapped later on. Regardless, I'm going to make Pilot skills for everyone, starting with class 77, based on what I believe they would have and actual 13 sentinels pilot skills. Everyone has 6 total pilot skills, each that they learn every five levels until level 30. A lot of them are based on relations with other characters. I might be stretching some of them to fit. There is going to be a lot of reference to Free Time Events, Dangan Island Endings, dialogue, blog memes, and everything. This is gonna be quite lengthy cuz I need spacing. I'll have to make class 78 later. Here goes:
1st Gens:
Hajime:
Level 5: I'll Protect You All. The more members on the strike team, the higher stats all stats increase.
Level 10: Master Martial Artist. Close-quarter attacks do more damage the closer the kaiju are.
Level 15: No Matter What Happens. Whenever Mahiru gets attacked, Hajime's Wait Time (WT) recovery speed and attack increase temporarily.
Level 20: Player Two. If Hajime attacks after Chiaki, Hajime's ATK increases.
Level 25: I Am Hajime Hinata! Increases all stats.
Level 30: The Future That We Want! The more members on the strike team that are not immobilized, the higher all stats significantly increase.
Akane:
5: I Got This. The fewer members of the Strike team, the higher all stats increase.
10: I Can Take You All. ATK and DEF increase if there are many kaiju nearby.
15: Ultimate Gymnast. High chance to dodge melee attacks.
20: Coach Nekomaru. ATK and WT recovery speed increases if Nekomaru is nearby.
25: Berserker. ATK increases as HP decreases.
30: What It Means To Be Confident. All stats increase the more kaiju there are.
Chiaki:
5: Gaming Addiction. WT recovery speed increases when deployed in consecutive battles.
10: Let Me Solo Them. Greatly increases all stats, WT recovery speed, and move speed and high chance to dodge attacks if Chiaki is the sole member of the strike team. (I'm laughing my ass off cuz of this stupidly absurd skill)
15: Cheat Code. Increase all stats of the strike team when terminal defense rate is 40% or lower. (This is a trash skill)
20: Digivolve to... MetalChiakimon! Increase all stats.
25: Infinite Combo. ATK increases when the total number of combos exceeds 100.
30: I'll Never Forget You Guys. Whenever Chiaki's Sentinel is destroyed, all stats of the strike team significantly increase. (This type of skill in the game is trash for obvious reasons but I had to do it.)
Peko:
5: Ultimate Swordswoman. Close-quarter attacks do more damage the closer the kaiju are.
10: At His Side. If Fuyuhiko is in the strike team, increase all stats.
15: Quick Draw: Increases Counter’s power proportional to damage taken.
20: Bodyguard. Attack power and move speed increase whenever Fuyuhiko gets attacked.
25: Once Again, A Worthless Object. Whenever Peko defeats small sized kaiju, WT recovery speed increases.
30: Justice Complete! If many kaiju are defeated in 1 hit, ATK, WT recovery speed, move speed, and damage received increases temporarily.
Nekomaru:
5: Ultimate Team Manager. If ally First-Gen Sentinels attack after Nekomaru, increase all stats. (this increases the allies’ stats, not Nekomaru’s)
10: Ultimate Masseuse. Slightly recovers HP of nearby allies.
15: Alrighty Then, Full Power It Is! Significantly increases ATK if a Gladiator is nearby.
20: NEKOMARU NIDAI's Final Firework! If allies are nearby, Nekomaru can take an otherwise fatal blow to his sentinel instead of theirs.
25: Just A Little Shot. Once per battle, Nekomaru can survive with 1 HP in an otherwise fatal blow to his sentinel. (Trash skill cuz you’d never want this scenario)
30: Reborn In The Rivers Of Hell! After taking a certain amount of damage, greatly increases DEF.
2nd Gens:
Sonia:
5: Ultimate Queen. When defending, increase all stats of the strike team.
10: Military Might. Increases the ATK and DEF of Guardians, Guardian Avengers, and Sentry Guns.
15: My Femininity Is Hella Boss. The more girls on the strike team, the higher all stats increase.
20: Jesus! Shit! You Son Of A Bitch! ATK, WT Recovery Speed, and move speed increases temporarily after taking a certain amount of damage.
25: In The Name Of Darkness! If Gundham is in the strike team, increase all stats.
30: A Warm, Yet Resolute, Light. Significantly increase all stats upon entering low HP.
Gundham:
5: Infinity Unlimited Flame! Increases armament power against attacking kaiju.
10: Come, My Dark Queen! Increase all stats if Sonia is in the strike team.
15: Fine, I’ll Let You Hold Them. Increase Peko’s ATK, WT recovery speed, and move speed if she is nearby.
20: Not Giving Up On Life. Increase ATK and DEF if Nekomaru is in the strike team.
25: For The Tanaka Empire! WT recovery speed increases proportional to the number of summoned weaponry on the map.
30: Breaking The Seal. Greatly increase all stats after a certain amount of time has passed. (One in-game minute and a half during battle. In other words, quite some time.)
Mikan:
5: Ultimate Nurse. HP recovers for self and allies after defending.
10: You're A Lifesaver! Doubles Repair Emitter effectiveness and expands area of effect by 50%.
15: Opposites Attract. Increase all stats if Ibuki is nearby.
20: Bond Of Sadism. If Mikan attacks after Hiyoko, ATK increases.
25: Suppressed Remnant. After taking a certain amount of damage, significantly increase ATK.
30: Resuscitation. Once per battle, 5% chance that allies near Mikan recover HP upon taking an otherwise fatal blow to their sentinels.
Teruteru:
5: Hanamura, Meat Now! Akane’s ATK significantly increases temporarily if Teruteru is nearby.
10: Pervert. The more girls on the strike team, the higher all stats increase.
15: My Tastes Are Pretty Open. Increase all stats if Nekomaru is nearby.
20: Surge Of Lust. Increase all stats upon entering low HP if any female allies are nearby. (I was running out of ideas.)
25: Call Me The Ultimate Chef Instead? Increase all stats.
30: Why I Started Cooking. WT recovery speed increases when summoning weaponry.
3rd Gens:
Fuyuhiko:
5: Always Been Together. If Peko is in the strike team, increase DEF and WT recovery speed.
10: Kiwami. Movement range of Stun Knuckles is increased by 500%. (Stun Knuckles suck ass for Gen 3’s but I wanted to replicate Yakuza in some minimal sense.)
15: The Winter Prince Of Kuzuryu. Increases armament power proportional to distance from kaiju.
20: Sharpshooter. Increases critical-hit chance against aerial kaiju.
25: Sworn Brother. Increase ATK and DEF if Hajime is nearby.
30: Standing On My Own Two Feet. If Peko is not nearby, significantly increases all stats.
Ryuji:
5: Imposter. Gains access to use one non-passive armament equipped to random ally on the strike team.
10: I'll Protect You All. The more members on the strike team, the higher stats all stats increase.
15: Leadership. When defending, increases all stats of the strike team.
20: Acrofatic. Greatly increases move speed. (3rd Gens have absolute shit move speed so Ryuji having this might make a difference)
25: Brothers. Increase ATK and DEF if Ryota is nearby.
30: Ryuji Mitarai. Increase all stats.
Mahiru:
5: Surprise Snapshot. Armament power increased significantly against Kaiju that just appeared and increased back attack range.
10: Unreliable Hajime. Whenever Hajime gets attacked, increase attack power against any kaiju near him.
15: Team Mom. After defending, increase EP for all allies and recover HP for all female allies. (Really wanted to call this one Mamahiru)
20: Say Cheese! Duration of EMP effects are increased.
25: Redhead Defenders. If Mahiru is attacked, ATK and WT recovery speed significantly increase for Hiyoko, Ibuki, and Mikan.
30: This Feeling of Cherishing Someone. If Hajime is in the strike team, increase all stats.
Ibuki:
5: Live Concert: Increases the area of effect of all armaments by 50%.
10: Band-Aid. If Mikan is in the strike team, increase all stats.
15: Girl Band. Increases all stats if Chiaki or Hiyoko are in the strike team.
20: Fight Song. After defending, EP slightly recovers for allies.
25: I Got You, Sweetie! If Mikan is attacked, Ibuki’s WT recovery speed increases.
30: Sure Well-Endowed Nowadays. The more girls on the strike team, the higher all stats increase.
4th Gens:
Nagito: (prepare for absolute negative bullshit)
5: Stepping Stones. All stats significantly increase proportional to the number of allies except himself below 50% HP and/or are immobilized. (What the fuck, Nagito?!)
10: Ultimate Lucky Student. Friendly fire is activated and armaments have 50% chance to insta-kill, excluding bosses.
15: Loneliness. All stats of allies in the strike team slightly increase when not near Nagito.
20: Russian Roulette. 5/6ths chance for allies to lose HP and 1/6th chance to recover HP when near Nagito.
25: Complicated Feelings. HP recovers when near Hajime.
30: A Vow For Love And Change. After a certain amount of time, Seiko will contact Nagito and friendly fire will be negated, probabilities for skills will be reversed, all allies will recover HP, and all stats will greatly increase. (like Gundham, it takes one in-game minute and a half)
Ryota: (I might have almost no good ideas for him so I had to think of anything)
5: Ultimate Animator. Armaments have a 50% chance to turn Kaiju friendly. (brainwashing is strangely not that useful at all, though)
10: Hikikomori. DEF and WT recovery speed increases when beyond a certain distance from Kaiju.
15: Used To Loneliness. Increases all stats when no allies are nearby.
20: Atonement. When Ryota’s sentinel gets destroyed, all allies recover HP. (again, garbage skill. Never would want this to happen.)
25: Brothers. Increase ATK and DEF if Ryuji is nearby.
30: I Promised I Won’t Die. If Iroha contacts the team, increases all stats until the end of the next wave. (I really don’t want to explain this but I guess I have to. I’m saying that after taking a hard hit and reaching critical condition, Iroha will contact him out of concern.)
Hiyoko:
5: Squish Squish: Increases ATK and WT recovery speed after destroying Workers.
10: Let's Destroy Them, Big Sis! If Mahiru is in the strike team, increase all stats.
15: Ultimate Traditional Dancer. High chance to dodge melee attacks.
20: Gratefulness. If Hiyoko is attacked, Mikan’s move speed increases.
25: He Did Say I Have Nice Legs. Increases Leg Spike’s power proportional to the distance moved. (Reference to Kazuichi saying he likes her legs and bust)
30: Don't Get A Big Head, Greasemonkey! If Kazuichi is in the strike team, WT recovery speed significantly increases.
Souda:
5: Coward. Increases armament power when attacking from beyond a certain distance.
10: Ultimate Mechanic. Shield Repair recovers 50% of ally’s HP and temporarily increases all stats, WT recovery speed, and move speed of ally.
15: Attention Seeker. The more girls on the strike team, the higher all stats increase.
20: Minimaru Troops, Go! Interceptors explode upon destruction, damaging nearby Kaiju.
25: This Sure Is Getting Annoying Again... If Hajime, Akane, Fuyuhiko, or Sonia are in the strike team, all stats significantly increase.
30: I Promised You Hugs: ATK and DEF for Kazuichi and Hiyoko significantly increase when she is nearby.
And now it’s time to start on Class 78 if I can.
//jk.
//Some of these are really clever and creative, like the Hajime and Chiaki one.
//Let me solo them is a good reference.
//I also like that you used some of the important quotes of each character for their best abilities, and Mahiru, Gundham and Nagito's skillsets in particular is really entertaining for some reason.

Chiaki: So you were busy a whole lot yesterday from what you're telling me.
Yeah... seems like it. I never expected things to be this eventful, though, especially with me facing two of your classmates.
Chiaki:...
Chiaki? Are you there?
Chiaki: Sorry! I just... never expected Fuyuhiko to be there. Nagito did tell me that he was going to the library, but still, I didn't expect him to threaten you like that.
Yeah, he's a pretty odd man. Any advice if I see him again?
Chiaki: Hmmm... my best advice? Don't worry about what he says much, he usually means well in his own way, even if he does go overboard. Still, don't try to fight him, it will only piss him off and make you hated in his eyes. If he asks you where you came from, don't and I mean don't tell him that you are from the reserve course, because he will lose it.
Wh- Why? What's the issue of me being in the reserve course?.
Chiaki: I don't know. He never told me about why exactly he despises the students in the Reserve course. I have a few reasons but... I don't like them, Hajime. They're just too awful to think about.
I see... and Fuyuhiko?
Chiaki: Try not to anger him if you meet face to face. Don't call him "babyface" and don't make fun of his height or anything that ticks him off. Also, watch out for Peko Pekoyama, the Ultimate Swordswoman. She's Fuyuhiko's bodyguard and a classmate of ours. She means well, but she's devoted to Fuyuhiko to death, so if you get Fuyuhiko angry, you get Peko riled up too.
Got it.... this is going to end badly.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu and Juvia Enochian's Past pt 2
"Then, why am I here?" she asked. "It's not safe for you out there," Headmaster Kirigiri replied, "That, and we...um..." "We what?" she asked. "We just want you to be safe," he sighed, "We can't have you wandering around." "So, you just wanna keep me locked up in here," she narrowed her eyes, "Is that it?" "We want you to have a normal life." "I want a life? Hahahaha!" she chuckled, "I have no life!" "I..." "I don't need you," she said, "You're scared of me.... Just admit it...." "No, we're not scared," Headmaster Kirigiri replied, "We just think you'd be better off staying here." "Yeaaaah," she sighed, "You're afraid of me..." "No," he shook his head, "We're not." "What are you so afraid of," she put her hands on her hips, "You can't handle me?" "A-As I said," he stammered, "We just want to protect you." "Hahaha!" she laughed,
"Do this for me.... Don't. Expel. Kuzuryu.... Understand?" "W-What do you want?" "It doesn't matter," she sighed, "Just do it," She glared at him, "I don't want to see you. Okay?" "O-Okay," he nodded, "I won't." "Good," she turned her back on him, "I gotta go." "I'll walk you," he said. "No," she replied, "I'll be fine," She stood in front of his office and patted her pocket, The Yakuza boy was in shock of what happened, he looked back at the headmaster. "What just happened?" he asked. "She's...special," Headmaster Kirigiri replied, "Don't worry about it." Fuyuhiko just sighed, "Okay," "Come on," he opened the door to his office, "I'll show you out." "No, it's okay," Fuyuhiko said, "I can do it myself." "Are you sure?" Headmaster Kirigiri asked. "Yeah," he nodded, "I got it." "Alright." He was still in shock of what just happened. He was walking down the hallway towards his class. "Why would she do that?" he thought, "What's her problem?" He reached his class and saw that everyone was there. He went to his desk that was next to his childhood friend/bodyguard Peko Pekoyama: Ultimate Swordswoman. "Is there something wrong, Young Master?" she asked. "I-I'll tell you later," he answered. "Okay," she sat down, "Please hurry." He sat down in his desk and took out his notebook, "Class," Chisa Yukizome, the teacher of Class 77, said, "We have a student from Class 66 joining us today. I was informed that her entire class was expelled so, she's going to be with us for the whole school year," she gestured to someone to enter the classroom and to Fuyuhiko's surprise, it was Juvia, "Everyone, Meet Juvia Enochian from Class 66." Everyone said hi to her while Juvia just stood there, "Juvia," Chisa called, "Are you okay?" "Yes," she answered, "I'm fine." "Alright," Chisa sighed, "Please do have a seat." The Encyclopedia walks through the class and found a seat right next to Sonia Nevermind, The Ultimate Princess. "Um...," Juvia said, "Can I sit here?" "Sure," Sonia replied, "But, isn't the seat next to you... taken?" "I don't care," Juvia smiled, "It's fine." "Okay," Sonia replied, "If you say so." "Please have a seat," Chisa smiled and Juvia sat down. "I take it you know everyone here," Chisa asked. "Yep," she nodded, "I tutored some of them." "You're a tutor?" "Yup," she nodded. "You must be really good." "Thank you," Juvia smiled. "Now, let's start the lesson," Chisa took out a book from the shelf, "Today, we'll be discussing Romeo and Juliet." "Doesn't that play suck?" asked Chiaki Nanami, The Ultimate Gamer. "We'll get into that," Chisa smiled, "After we finish reading." "Ah." "Juvia," Chisa called, "Why don't you recite it for us?" "Ahh," she stood up, "Yes, ma'am." "Start," Chisa smiled. She took a deep breath and said, "These violent delights have violent ends And in their triumph die, like fire and powder, Which as they kiss consume. The sweetest honey Is loathsome in his own deliciousness And in the taste confounds the appetite. Therefore love moderately; long love doth so; Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow." Everyone gasped, including Fuyuhiko, "What...was that?" "It...it was amazing," Sonia stuttered, "How did you memorize that?" "I...," Juvia paused, "I read it many times." "It's...amazing," Fuyuhiko muttered. "Thank you," she smiled. "You...you must be...," Sonia stuttered, "A genius." "I think you're mistaken," Juvia shook her head, "I'm just a simple girl with facts." "Huh?" Sonia blinked. "Didn't you hear what I said?" Juvia asked, "I told you I'm a tutor, which means I tutor people about different subjects, including Shakespeare." "Oh," Sonia blinked, "I thought you were a genius."
"They said that I am, okay?", she said mildly annoyed. "Okay," Sonia apologized, "I apologize for my misunderstanding." "It's okay," Juvia shrugged, "I get insulted like that all the time." "I can't believe it," Sonia muttered, "You're the nicest person I've ever met." "It's probably because I'm used to people insulting me," Juvia replied, "That makes me a good tutor." "I...," Sonia sighed, "I guess you're right." "Now," Chisa interrupted, "Let's continue." Nagito Komaeda, The Ultimate Lucky Student, stood up with the book and read, "O serpent heart, hid with a flowering face! Did ever dragon keep so fair a cave? Beautiful tyrant! fiend angelical! Dove-feather'd raven! wolvish-ravening lamb! Despised substance of divinest show! Just opposite to what thou justly seem'st, A damned saint, an honourable villain! O nature, what hadst thou to do in hell; When thou didst bower the spirit of a fiend In mortal paradise of such sweet flesh? Was ever book containing such vile matter So fairly bound? O that deceit should dwell In such a gorgeous palace!"

Komanami Week Day 5: Talent-Swap
Summary | Nagito Komaeda is finally allowed to leave the walls of his castle and attend Hope’s Peak Academy. But, there’s a price. To make sure that he’s protected while at the academy, he is assigned a bodyguard to be by his side during his studies. Luckily for him, his bodyguard just happens to be a very cute girl…
❥ Pairing | Nagito Komaeda x Chiaki Nanami
★ Word Count | 3,913 words
@c0rrupted-mov
*So…I kinda broke my promise about this being out right after Day 4, and I’m really sorry about that! I ended up getting sick and I didn't have the motivation at the time to write. The universe really doesn’t want me to do this, huh? Well, fuck you illness! I’ve made a commitment and I’m going to see it through! So, this is Day 5 of Komanami Week where I chose Talent-Swap, instead I didn’t switch Nagito’s and Chiaki’s talents. I swapped everyone’s talents! So, now we have an Ultimate Swordswoman Chiaki Nanami and an Ultimate Prince Nagito Komaeda! Why? Because I like the idea of Nagito simping while Chiaki kicks ass. I personally think I made Nagito have a bit of Adrien Agreste and Makoto vibes in this one, but it’s fine! He does have a completely different talent after all. So, yeah, without further ado, grab some snacks and enjoy! And again, sorry for errors.*
“Lady Tsurugi, may I speak with you?” a boy with hair as white as snow asked, approaching from the grand stone hallway of the palace. He was fidgeting slightly as he kept his gray eyes on the royal advisor, biting his lip.
“Prince Nagito, please stop biting your lip,” Tsurugi said. “You’re going to draw blood. But, of course. What is it you wish to speak with me about?”
Nagito immediately stopped doing so, and stood up straight as he took a deep breath. “It’s about my request, Lady Tsurugi. The Hope’s Peak Academy entry letter.”
“Ah…” Tsurugi nodded. “You’re wishing to know what I say about it now that I’ve had some time to think, yes?”
Nagito nodded eagerly. “If that’s not a problem. Have you made your decision about allowing me to attend school there?”
Tsurugi sighed. “Yes, I have. I know you’ve been in the palace for the majority of your life, Your Highness. I can tell that you’re desperate for a chance to leave and gain a bit of independence.”
“Y-Yes…but I understand if you’re not going to allow me to go,” Nagito said, eyes darting away from her face as he messed with the sash around his torso. “In case…something happens while I’m studying and you can’t protect me…”
“On the contrary,” Tsurugi smiled. “I’ve decided that I will allow you to go to Hope’s Peak Academy.”
“Ah…” Nagito’s eyes widened. He was completely prepared to bargain and beg for the chance to go to the prestigious academy. He wasn’t expecting it to be this easy! “R-really? Are you sure, Lady Tsurugi?”
Tsurugi nodded, a warm smile on her face. “Yes…I’ve thought about it and I decided that it would be healthy for you to be able to communicate with others your own age. And considering that the students of Hope’s Peak are at the same social standing as you, I figured that this is a perfect opportunity.”
Nagito just stood there, his jaw dropping for a moment before speaking again. “Forgive me. I’m utterly grateful for your generosity, Lady Tsurugi, but…I thought you claimed that you’re not going to do anything that you feel disrupts my safety. I thought that you were going to definitely refuse to let me go.”
“Well, let’s say I found a compromise for us,” she said, turning her attention to a computer in front of her. “I could send one of the maids to travel with you and live with you to make sure that you’re not living by yourself. As for school, I’ve found someone who can act as your bodyguard when at Hope’s Peak.”
“A bodyguard?”
Tsurugi nodded. “She got into Hope’s Peak as the Ultimate Swordswoman and has experience with guarding the most important people in Japan. So, I spoke with her family and requested that she accompany you when at school.”
“The Ultimate Swordswoman?” Nagito rested his chin on his hand. “She sounds like she’s rather experienced…what’s her name?”
“Chiaki Nanami. She’s apparently a rather quiet girl and her family is worried about her being able to fit in with her classmates. So, they’re grateful that you’ll be there with her. You two could possibly become friends. So, I’ll allow you to go to Hope’s Peak Academy as long as you find this girl and allow her to work as your bodyguard. Does that sound like a fair trade, Your HIghness?”
Nagito nodded immediately. “Absolutely! To spend time with such a talented swordswoman! Why, someone as lowly as me doesn’t deserve the honor!”
Tsurugi deadpanned at him. “Your Highness…you’re literally the future king of an entire kingdom…but, I’m pleased to see you being so agreeable with my terms.” A small smile appeared on the royal advisor’s face as the prince happily skipped away to prepare.
…
Nagito smiled as he recalled how Lady Tsurugi was generous enough to allow him to attend Hope’s Peak Academy and finally be able to go to school like any normal teenager. It was just too kind of her! And now…he was here. Standing in front of the door to his new classroom. His smile widened as he felt his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn’t believe it! He was actually here! Behind this door…was his new class with a bunch of talented teenagers that were going to be his classmates. He could hardly wait.
He brushed the dust off of his black tailcoat vest before reaching towards the door, sliding it open with one movement of his hand. He walked inside and…
“Ah!” A girl with red hair wearing a green kimono turned towards the door as soon as Nagito entered. “Another new student!”
Nagito felt heads turn towards him as he walked into the room. Most of the students that were sitting in the classroom wore the brown Hope Peak’s school uniform although there were a few exceptions such as the girl in the kimono. Some of the students had done something similar to Nagito where they added their own personal touches to the uniform, such as a brown-haired boy wearing an olive green jacket and headphones. Nagito looked around at all the students in the room. They seemed to be full of talent and radiated a powerful aura of hope that almost seemed intimidating. It made Nagito eager to talk to all of them.
The teacher, an orange-haired woman wearing a tank top underneath a long blue coat, smiled at Nagito. “Hello there! Are you one of my new students?”
Nagito nodded. “Yes. My name is Nagito Komaeda. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
The woman gave him a warm smile. “Pleasure to meet you too, Komaeda. I’m your teacher, Miss Yukizome. Let’s see…where to put you. Ah! Why not sit over at the empty desk in front of Hinata?” Miss Yukizome gestured over to a desk in front of the boy with the headphones, who was currently absorbed in the video game he had in his hand.
Nagito nodded. “Very well then.” With that, he walked over towards the desk at the back of the classroom and sat down. With a friendly smile, he turned around to the boy with the headphones. “Hello. It’s very nice to meet you. You’re, Hinata, right?”
The boy lifted his head up to look at him before nodding. “Yep. I’m Hajime Hinata. The Ultimate Gamer. Uh, Komaeda, right?”
Nagito nodded before bowing his head slightly. “Yes, I’m Nagito Komaeda, the Ultimate Prince! I do hope that we’re able to become good friends.”
Hajime nodded slowly, staring at Nagito with a blank expression. “Yeah, that would be nice. But…there’s no need to bow…”
“Oh!” Nagito immediately lifted his head up, his cheeks turning a pale pink. “My apologies.”
“Oh!” Nagito immediately lifted his head up, his cheeks turning a pale pink. “My apologies.”
“Okay…” Miss Yukizome suddenly called out, looking down at a clipboard. “Looks like nearly everyone is here. Let’s see…all we have left is Chiaki Nanami.”
Nagito immediately turned around when he heard that name, like a hound dog when food arrives. The Ultimate Swordswoman. The girl that’s supposed to protect him. When is she going to come into the classroom? Nagito began to stare intensely at the door, waiting for it to open.
“Oh, I ran into Nanami earlier!” A girl with multi-colored streaks in her hair and a leotard under her blazer said. “She was totally in the zone! Even a massive bomb falling out of a sky wouldn’t break her focus! It’s so cool!!”
Miss Yukizome sighed. “Well, I suppose I’ll have to go and get her then,” she said, but before she could even leave from the podium, Nagito raised his hand.
“If you want, Miss Yukizome, I can find Nanami for you,” Nagito said. “After all, we wouldn’t want to delay class any further than necessary. So, it may be easier if I go get her myself.”
She considered it for a moment before nodding. “Well, alright. Try not to take too long now, okay?”
“Of course,” he nodded as he stood up and left the classroom. The previously bustling hallways were now nearly empty with most of the students already in their classrooms. With the help of a map of the layout of the academy, Nagito made his way to the school’s dojo, heart fluttering in excitement as he tried to picture what Chiaki Nanami was like. Was she cool and serious? Aggressive and bloodthirsty? Noble and daring? Millions of possibilities danced in his head as he approached the dojo and opened the door.
The walls and floor of the dojo was made out of dark wood that seemed to give the room a mysterious and traditional feel to it. Nagito could feel the floorboards creaking underneath his feet as he stepped inside the dimly lit room. Painted on a screen near the back was a beautiful scene of a dark night sky with gentle sakura trees standing on the sides of a stone-textured sidewalk, their gentle petals falling and covering it. And that’s where she was, wearing a white kendo uniform.
She knelt in front of the screen, her back facing Nagito. She didn’t even seem to notice him as she faced straight ahead, deep in her concentration. Nagito took a cautious step towards the mysterious girl. As he got even closer, suddenly, like an animal sending danger, she spun around. Nagito felt something long and wooden jab the air right beside him, barely missing his head by mere inches.
He looked down at the petite girl, who was studying him with a curious look on her face. Her pale mauve hair that was tied into a bun with two strands framing her face. Holding her bun in place was a hot pink ribbon that was tied into a bow at the back of her head. Her sleepy-looking pale pink eyes observed him with a quiet tranquility, as if she didn’t have a bamboo sword nearly pressing against his neck.
There was an awkward silence for a few moments, with Nagito keeping a close eye on the bamboo sword at the edge of his neck. Until finally, the girl put her sword down and spoke in a soft voice. “Sorry…you scared me.”
‘You were scared?’ he thought. She didn’t look that scared when she nearly attacked him, but he decided to not comment about it. Instead he smiled awkwardly and rubbed his head. “It’s alright. I’m just simply glad that I didn’t lose my head. Uh, I take it you are Chiaki Nanami?”
She nodded. “That’s right. And you are?”
Nagito bowed. “I’m Nagito Komaeda. The Ultimate Prince. It’s an honor to finally meet you, Lady Nanami.”
Chiaki stared at him with a blank expression on her face and stayed silent for several moments. Nagito felt his face burning up. ‘Goddammit, all to hell! She’s not saying anything! Why did I do the bowing thing again?! She must be thinking that I’m acting really odd right now! This is mortifying…’
He quickly got up and placed his hands firmly to his side. “Er, apologies for that! I’m…not really used to interacting with people my age.”
Chiaki shrugged. “It’s alright. I figured as much. Sorry for not responding…I’m just not really used to people bowing for me…so, you’re the prince that I’m supposed to be guarding?”
Nagito rubbed his head. “Y-yes…sorry for inconveniencing you with this task.”
She shook her head and smiled. “No worries. It’s actually quite an honor to be protecting a prince. I’ve actually never done that before. Besides, most of the people I protect are older than me, so it’s nice to actually be the bodyguard of someone my own age.”
“Is that so?” Nagito smiled. “Well then, I hope we get along. Ah, by the way, class had already started. I was sent by our teacher to come and get you.”
“Oh…” Chiaki looked surprised before she lowered her head. “My apologies. I tend to lose track of time when meditating. I’ll go get changed and we can head to the classroom.”
He nodded as Chiaki walked by him. “Very well then. I shall wait here until you’re ready.”
She went into the locker rooms to change. Meanwhile, Nagito placed a hand on his heart, sighing in relief. Thank goodness that his first meeting with Chiaki went well despite him bowing to her. He smiled to himself. She seemed like a lovely girl, and he hoped that they could become good friends in the future.
After a few moments of waiting, Chiaki came out of the locker rooms wearing her school uniform except instead of wearing the blazer, she wore a black shawl with a pink stripe on the bottom that matched her ribbon. Black fingerless gloves rested on her hands while tall black boots encased her legs. On her back, there was a pink sheath-like bag with a white ribbon tied at the end, which is most likely where she kept her sword.
“I see you like the color pink,” Nagito said, attempting to start up a conversation.
“Yeah,” Chiaki nodded. “I think it’s a pretty color though…people sometimes get surprised when I tell them. I guess it’s because pink’s not a color typically associated with a swordswoman.”
“Honestly, that’s a shame,” Nagito said, sighing. “I don’t understand how people can be shocked by someone liking a color because it doesn’t seem to “fit” them, whatever that’s supposed to mean. I think it’s a pleasant-looking color. It looks nice on you, Lady Nanami.”
“…thanks…” Chiaki said after a moment's hesitation before walking towards the classroom. Nagito followed after her, mentally facepalming at what he had just said. He was coming off as creepy, wasn’t he? Why was talking to people so hard?
“I-I apologize for my comment…” he said. “I’m just realizing that it may have sounded really…awkward…”
“Don’t worry about it,” she said, shaking her head. “It just caught me off guard. That’s all. Besides, it was sweet of you to compliment me, and I know you weren’t being weird when you said it. Try not to be so hard on yourself, Your Highness.”
“Y-your Highness?” Nagito repeated, his voice cracking slightly.
“Yeah…?” Chiaki turned around, tilting her head slightly. “You’re a prince, right? So, if I’m going to be working for you then I should respect your status.”
“N-no!” Nagito shook his head. “Please, no need for formalities. I would much prefer you calling me Komaeda. I’m a regular student just like you, so I would like to be treated like one.”
Chiaki nodded. “Understood. Sorry, Komaeda.”
With that, the two arrived at the classroom and went inside. Miss Yukizome looked up from what she was writing on the board and smiled at them. “Ah, you must be Nanami! Welcome! I’m your new teacher, Miss Yukizome. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Hi,” Chiaki waved. “It’s nice to meet you, too.”
Miss Yukizome nodded and turned to Nagito. “Thank you for bringing her here, Komaeda. Okay, there should be an empty seat next to Tsumiki. You can sit there, Nanami.”
Chiaki nodded and went over to sit next to a girl with choppy plum hair and some hamsters on her shoulders. Nagito made his way back to his seat in front of Hajime and the lesson began.
Nagito found himself being engaged throughout the whole day. He couldn’t understand why some of his classmates were complaining about some of the topics that they were learning. He found them extremely interesting, but perhaps it’s because he never had an experience like this, unlike the rest of his classmates. For the majority of the day, Nagito alternated his time between Hajime and Chiaki, wanting to learn more about them. During their conversations, Nagito learned about how the two each got their Ultimate titles. Apparently, Hajime got his Ultimate title due to a gaming competition he won when he was in elementary and Chiaki got hers from being able to beat multiple grown men in kendo matches. As they explained their stories, Nagito found himself hooked on every word, unable to believe that such amazing and talented people were talking to him.
Eventually, the school day ended and Nagito grabbed his bag and began to leave the classroom. As he walked towards the door, he heard a familiar soft voice from behind him. “Komaeda…”
He turned around to see Chiaki walking towards him. “Yes? Do you need something, Nanami?”
Chiaki shook her head. “I was just wondering if you wanted to walk home together. If my job is to be your bodyguard, then shouldn't I be by your side most of the time? Besides, this also gives us the opportunity to learn a bit more about each other.”
Nagito didn’t even hesitate before nodding his head. “Of course. It would be an honor to walk home with you, Lady Nanami.”
“Why are you calling me ‘Lady Nanami?’” Chiaki asked as they began to walk out of the classroom.
“Hm?” Nagito glanced at her. “Why, it’s a sign of respect. You’re a student of this prestigious academy after all, so I should address you accordingly. Besides, I address many of the high-ranking women in my kingdom as ‘Lady.’”
Chiaki crossed her arms and frowned. “So, you get to call me ‘Lady’, but I can’t call you ‘Your Highness.’ Seems a little hypocritical, Komaeda.”
Nagito chuckled. “Why, it isn’t hypocritical at all. You got into this academy for being such a talented swordswoman, after all. You proved yourself worthy of the title of the Ultimate Swordswoman, and the school addressed your amazing skills. I would consider that deserving of high respect. Meanwhile, with me…I only got into Hope’s Peak because I was a prince. There wasn’t any talent or work put into me being here.” Nagito frowned slightly and moved his gaze to his walking feet. “You’re far more deserving of being a student here than I am, so I want to show you the respect that you deserve, Lady Nanami. The only respect that I received is because I’m a prince, which is an insult towards you. That’s all.”
Chiaki stayed silent for a moment, seemingly deep in thought. As he opened the academy’s doors, Nagito wondered if she was now taking in what he had said and was now deciding to spend her time with people that are just like her. Who got into Hope’s Peak because they proved that they deserved to be called the most talented people in Japan.
“Komaeda, I-” Before Chiaki could even finish her sentence, they could hear yelling up ahead. They looked over at the entrance gates of Hope’s Peak. Two guys were yelling at each other, arguing as they shoved at each other.
“Huh? What’s going on?” Nagito asked as his eyes widened at the scene before him.
“They’re having a fight…” Chiaki replied, pointing out the obvious.
“I can see that, but why?” Nagito quickly ran over to where the boys were fighting. “Hey! What are you two doing?”
The two guys stopped arguing for a moment and turned to glare at Nagito. “None of your damn business!” One of them scowled. “Run along and forget you saw anything!”
Nagito felt his knees tremble slightly as the guy glared down at him. His muscular frame completely cast a shadow over Nagito’s skinny one. His eyes leered down at him, like a predator eyeing its prey before it pounced. Nagito gulped, but he stood his ground and continued talking.
“W-well…you shouldn’t be fighting in front of the school’s entrance. Someone could get hurt! Please, isn’t there a way we could peacefully solve the issue at hand?”
“What are you? Some kind of pick-me who thinks that their presence alone can easily get anyone to listen?” The other guy snarled, rolling his eyes.
“N-no! That’s not-“ Nagito couldn’t even finish his sentence as he felt the first guy grab his vest and pulled him close to his face.
“Looks like someone needs to learn to mind his own business,” he grinned maniacally. “And I’m glad to be the teacher…”
Nagito felt cold sweat dripping down his forehead as he stared into those bloodthirsty eyes. He was petrified as he watched the guy clench his fist, ready to punch his lights out. Nagito shut his eyes, bracing himself for the impact of the fist to meet his pale face.
“Let him go.” Nagito gasped as the soft voice of Chiaki Nanami spoke from behind him. He opened his eyes and glanced back to see Chiaki holding her bamboo sword with a calm yet baleful gaze. “He has nothing to do with your fight, so please let him go.”
The second guy snorted. “What? You expect me to listen to you, sweetheart? You may look cute and all with your little sword, but you don’t scare me.”
Chiaki’s gaze hardened. “Let him go…I would rather not have to knock someone out.”
Both of the boys looked at each other before bursting out into laughter. “Or else what?” The first asked.
“You really think you could knock us out?!” The second guy taunted. “I’d like to see you try.”
Chiaki closed her eyes and remained silent for a moment. Her hair cast a shadow over her face, so Nagito couldn’t properly read her expression. Finally, after moments of the only sound being the two guys laughing, a small smirk appeared on her face.
“I tried to warn you…”
And just like that, Chiaki leapt at the two guys. Nagito couldn’t even see when she had striked. One minute, he was being held in the air by the first guy and the next, he was on the ground, staring at the sight in front of him. The two guys fell to the ground, knocked unconscious as Chiaki stood over them, placing her bamboo sword in her sheath. Nagito was left speechless as he knelt on the ground, trying to process what happened.
Chiaki smiled sweetly as she looked down at the two unconscious boys. “No fighting on school grounds.” She then bent over and grabbed each of their left arms before looking up at Nagito.
“Best not to be so naive next time, Your Highness,” she said, a teasing look in her eyes. “I can’t be knocking people out each time you try to stop a fight.”
Nagito didn’t say anything. Instead, he just stared at Chiaki, his jaw dropping. She walked past him, dragging the two guys behind her with zero struggle, as if they weighed nothing to her. “I’ll go take these two to the nurse’s office now. It would be cruel to leave them out here after I knocked them out. Please wait for me, Your Highness.”
With that, Chiaki left, leaving Nagito on the ground like an idiot. He could feel his heart racing as he thought back to how Chiaki looked standing over the two boys she knocked out. The graceful way her hair, shawl, and skirt fluttered against the wind. The confident way she stood, making her seem taller than she really was. The way that she balanced herself by gently stepping on one of the guy’s backs, careful not to hurt him any further. He felt his whole body heat up as he came to the realization…that was attractive…really attractive. Nagito was suddenly glad that Chiaki had left because she couldn’t see the heavily infatuated grin that was now resting on his face.
He made a mental note to heavily thank Lady Tsurugi for this whole arrangement when he got back…

Headcanons for Swordswoman!Chiaki?
I did something similar here, but I’ll do some more since those were a bit more specific!
Chiaki knew that she was good at what she did, but she did her best to never brag about it or show off. This was important to her, but she wasn’t going to make others feel bad.
She appreciated her training, since it often helped clear her head of all the stress from the day. The burn of her muscles afterward is always very much appreciated.
If she doesn’t have her sword with her, it’s somewhere nearby. It’s highly unlikely she would ever need it, but it’s more of a comfort thing that a protection thing anyway.
She’s pretty quiet, but if you get her talking about what she likes about her talent, she will talk a lot. It’s what she likes, so it’s no problem for her to keep talking.
Exhibitions are her favorites; she doesn’t even get stage fright because she’s very confident in what she’s doing. It’s perhaps her favorite part of her talent apart from practicing.
