i like the idea of kyoko getting better at controlling her emotions and being open and comfortable with those she trusts and becoming a better person due to the love and kindness she's shown in return. while makoto stands beside her, getting worse and worse at these same things

About HUH. <- fascinated and would love to hear more
YAY :) So what I mean is at some point I had this idea of the class after being stuck in HPA for quite awhile, they all start to lose hope and their spirits. You can only do some much in there before getting bored, then it starts to feel stale. So, they're all pretty detached from they're current situation rn, they feel like they're in an eternal purgatory. They don't feel hope or despair just lost. But not Naegi though, he's still kicking, he's talking to them, trying to get them motivated and what not trying to be optimistic and give them hope.
They're baffled.. how is he doing this? How is he finding this motivation? How is he still so optimistic? They wish they could have that... actually they're ultimates. They can have anything. And they're not necessarily low on food or anything cause they stocked up prior to the tragedy but they want his optimsim to keep going, the hope that thing will be ok even if they're rocky now, they need that motivation. They don't that in pep talk form, they want it straight from the source. Literally.
They want to open up and examine him and find out what makes him have all this hope and shit, They need it. And what better to absorb these feeling and shit with eating him? They won't eat all of him in one go, but he would need to be awake and alive to get the best results possible.
where are their morals? Who knows!!

just a reminder that wishing death on any of the danganronpa writers makes you a terrible person and all of your favorite danganronpa characters hate you if you do that! 🤗 this is danganronpa so a lot of them will die 🤗 that doesnt mean you get to be a dickhead to team dr 🤗 get over it! 🤗

keep in mind the danganronpa actors are still real people and they can see all of you thirsting over them ok. please be normal. just because they went through the effects of the flashback light doesnt mean its ok to be a fucking weirdo to hajime whenever he walks outside
🧊 kokoroicebox Follow
They're celebrities. People are going to find celebrities attractive, especially if these are people they see on screens and billboards every day. If you pick up the nearest magazine you find you're probably going to find Junko Enoshima in it. And maybe you should consider that those "weirdos" who are walking up to Hajime are simply fans that want to greet him. We've watched these people fight through hell, cry, laugh, and find hope along the way. Of course we are going to get attached to them, especially to those of us who have been keeping up with them for a long time now. You're basically asking a bunch of teenagers to close their eyes and pretend their favorite media doesn't exist.

hi!! odd request could you explain why komahina isnt toxic
IVE BEEN MEANING TO MAKE A POST ABOUT THIS ANON !!!! u read my mind ….. so the reason why i dont consider komahina to be true and real toxic yaoi is because theyre intended to be mutually healing for each other.
their main, striking similarity is their upholding of danganronpa’s harmful societal values on talent. a theme throughout their interactions is komaeda explicitly stating a subconscious belief hajime has and then hajime denying that there’s any similarities in their belief system — everything komaeda says about the inferiority of the talentless is something hajime has always believed, just in a less self aware way. they both end up essentially killing themselves (komaeda in a more literal manner, hajime with the kamukura project) to become something bigger, something worth being called the ultimate hope, because they believe their talent status gives their life no meaning and they feel they have to “make up” for it. theyve always been similar; one sees the other in the things he hates about himself.
this is why, when they fall in love, it’s so groundbreaking for their respective arcs. in realizing the similarities in their belief system, hajime becomes more self aware about how stupid his insecurities are. hajime is able to break komaedas worldview by being talentless and inspiring hope/being an equal to his talented peers from 77b, and this makes komaeda realize that, because they are so similar, HE can do that too (side note makoto does this first when he kills junko, but komaeda knows hajime personally/saw hajimes development play out firsthand so its more effective). they feed into each other’s development and are able to grow from it.
they’re not really framed with much toxicity, and you can especially see this with allllll the visual parallels theyre given by the end of the anime. the juxtaposition of hajime grabbing komaedas junko arm to help him out of the pod and hajime grabbing komaedas prosthetic arm to help him onto the boat (paired with the line “let’s set off, in the name of hope”) symbolizes how interconnected hajime is to komaeda’s arc — his journey from old arm to new arm, from despair to hope to future. (and then theres the scene where hajime ditches ghost chiaki for komaeda too. and u see them eating with each other in the credits.) if they were intended to be toxic, they wouldnt have ended on that note.
and THENNNN theres also the fact that hajime’s really the only person capable of loving komaeda, in the beginning. hajime cant get struck down by komaedas luck, because hajimes the only one with ult luck powerful enough to counter komaedas. their lucks cancelling each other out is a concept stressed by the anime with the kamukoma gun scene. he’s also the only person with the guts to put in the effort to UNDERSTAND komaeda, a concept stressed in komaedas FTEs. hes the first person that physically can, and the first person thats made the effort. this is groundbreaking for komaeda.
theyre not toxic, they just go through a little angst period that ends up being resolved in the end. hajimes confusion towards komaeda and komaedas confusion towards hajime was necessary, they HAD to figure each other out because in doing that they learn something about THEMSELVES. that process comes with some angsting that is often mistaken for toxicity. of course they cant start dating mid killing game, THAT would have be pretty toxic, because a killing game is not a breeding ground for romance. this is why komahina never canonically starts dating - the time frame doesnt cover enough time for that. but they get two love confessions and the whole first fte is explicitly romantic.

Balloons
A (not so) little Komahina drabble with a Kyouko (and hints of Naegiri) preamble based on this interaction from the Danganronpa Summer Camp game (and yes I 100% bought it and for full price because I'm really silly but I'm so committed for the interactions like JSKAJSKSKA I want them to be happy so bad):
Hajime: You make the flower petals like this, attach the stem… and there ya go, done! Kyouko: Huh, you're surprisingly dexterous. Kyouko: Would you mind if I took this flower? Hajime: Sure, no problem at all. Kyouko: Thanks. Keep up the good work. Kyouko exits. Hajime: I know it's a fake flower, but… giving it to a girl is still kinda embarrassing. Hajime: And to Kyouko, no less. I hope she doesn't tell the boys that she got it from me…
The detective thumbs at the rubbery material, indeed appreciating Hajime’s workmanship. He truly does seem capable of plenty, even if it was like a jack of all trades. But oftentimes is better than a master of one. She retorts her silent conjecture. And indeed, it shows in the way his determination seems to spark around people who are motivated in their passions.
It is just like the creation of this flower. The happy yellow it sprouts reminds her of a certain classmate. She has no need to act coy to herself, it is prevalent to her that her emotions have strayed to a place she never anticipated them to go.
Makoto Naegi, the Ultimate Luck. He has shown time and time again he was more than such a title. Every time he asks questions, remarks on a viewpoint she hadn’t considered, provides patience and calmness when she is unable to compose herself quickly enough… he was endearing and dependable, the type that she can’t help but be drawn to in the midst of the chaos that was her detective duties.
Perhaps she will present this flower to Makoto. It may not be overly affectionate, but she knows Makoto enjoys small acts with messages as simple as “being thought about”. It’s an idea to scoff at, with his easy going personality being the most digestible compared to her fellow classmates. He is, quite often, considered by everyone as the de facto leader of their class the moment he stepped up in second year. His development was quite admirable and impressive. Everyday, he will be greeted by everyone and talked to in one way or the other.
In that sense, it is easier to dismiss his more anxious side, melancholic and self-loathing. Although caring for others is not very easy for her despite the strides being taken by her classmates, there is something about Makoto that makes her feel adequate in giving him an ear to listen to rather than forcing physical affection.
“Kirigiri?” A soft voice pushes through her reverie. Lavender eyes trail up to stark white hair, and a more casual outfit than she has ever seen him wearing. It reflects the setting of the festival however, and she endeavours to say as much-
“I apologize for interrupting you with my presence. I know you must have more important matters than looking upon trash like me,” Kyouko’s mouth closes. Nothing has prepared her to treat this sudden situation. She is aware of Komaeda’s low self-esteem and the way it manifests, but she has never been on its receiving end and is uncertain how to proceed. Komaeda continues on regardless, “I saw this flower balloon had flown out of your hands and I managed to get it back in one piece. How lucky!”
Indeed, in his hand is the yellow flower balloon that she must have let go of during her musings. She takes it from him and nods. “Thank you Komaeda.”
He beams. “Oh, it’s no trouble at all, I’m very happy to help. It’s really the least I could do for an Ult- for such an admirable person.”
She notices the intentional slipping of the word “Ultimate”, but does not make any move to indicate her recognition of it. Clearly, it was a habit of his he was trying to stop, if his behaviour is any indication.
“Although," Komaeda says, "I did find it strange you had a balloon with you.”
“Hinata is the one making them. Although his repertoire was limited, he does what he offers quite well.”
The Ultimate Lucky student hums, turning his head back in the direction of where Hinata’s table was. “Really now? How fascinating.” He looks to the ground, and she wonders what he is pondering about.
She remembers seeing them together often, albeit in passing. She notes that their position relative to the celebration is quite distant, out closer to the beach, but still close enough to see most of the attractions. Hmm… “From what I observed, he still has about half a package of balloons left. I’m quite certain you can get one from him.”
Kyouko studies the way Komaeda turns to her warily. She has a hunch now though, and she states, “He would gladly give you one, regardless of what occurs. I think he will appreciate a more familiar presence supporting him.”
Some emotions seem to dart across Komaeda’s face, but she cannot process them all in time before it settles. He sighs. “Ah, I suppose you figured me out. As expected of the Ultimate Detective!” He praises. She sees the way he glances back to the festival tents. “I suppose I can pay a friend a visit.”
She allows herself a smile, hoping it comes off as encouraging. “Good luck.”
He laughs. “I sure hope I'll have it.”
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
Nagito hugs himself loosely, clutching onto the soft fabric enveloping him as he walks past stands and tents. He looks around, biting his lip. A sigh inevitably escapes, much like his resolve always does.
He listens. Chatter, laughter- so much, so loud... But no cries or sobs. No cracks of wood or thumps of metal. And most thankfully, no screams. Regardless, he checks around him anyway. His presence here can change so many things. He can bring so much despair just by simply existing. Why did he possibly come in here again?
A glimpse of spiky brown hair and a familiar tie fills his vision. Right. It always traces back to Hajime.
The Reserve Course student goes to finish up shaping a red balloon into a flower, and hands it over to the Ultimate Astronaut, although his name escapes him. He can hear the “Awesome!” all the way from where he's standing, which is kind of impressive. The man makes his way to the Ultimate Caregiver, who he immediately tries giving the flower to. She looks pleased. Yet, she shouts “Do you want to die!?” so maybe he misread her?
Nagito turns back to Hajime, who’s already gesturing to him to come over. “Hey!” He smiles. “Didn’t expect to see you here!”
He frowns. “I know that my presence isn’t deserved around U-.”
“Okay, shut the fuck up. You know I’m just glad you’re out here. How are you enjoying it so far?”
“Ah. What if I said I only came to see you?” He can’t help but tease. Hajime’s ears, as predicted, turn red.
“You can’t be serious. Out of everyone else?” that are Ultimates isn't spoken, but heavily implied.
“Now who’s the one who needs to stop talking about status?” He teases.
“H-hey! I didn't even say anything!” Hajime coughs. “I know what you’re doing. Don’t change the subject.”
Nagito hums. “I’m not joking though, I did come here because of you. Kirigiri told me you made her flower balloon and I just had to see what that was about.”
Upon sharing that info, Hajime averts his gaze, clearly blushing. How interesting…
He feels tempted to smirk, but doesn't in favour of sounding noncommittal, “Something wrong about what I said, Hajime?”
“Nope, nothing.” He trails off. “…You don’t think she’s told anyone else, do you?”
Nagito crosses his arms. Why would Hajime care? Is he embarrassed? How silly. He eyes the bag of balloons and lets out an amused puff. “Well, it certainly benefitted you if she did, considering you’ve emptied the whole bag.” The sigh escapes him before he can stop it. He didn’t even realize he wanted a balloon before it was taken away.
Just his luck. How disappointing.
“Huh?" Hajime asks. "It’s empty?”
He swiftly lifts the bag. "Aha!" He calls out triumphantly. Turns out, under the opaque portion of the packaging sits a deflated green balloon.
Nagito grins. “How lucky!”
Hajime responds with a smirk. He adds as much air as possible to the balloon, and when satisfied, says, “Alright, I know you’re going to make fun of me, but I can only manage a flower and a dog. Which one do you want?”
Although he probably would’ve been quick to tease Hajime about his skills “befitting a Reserve Course student”, the mention of a dog makes the words freeze on his tongue.
“A dog would be nice.” Nagito admits.
“Oh, sure.” Hajime says, a little disconcerted by the honesty, and his eyebrows are furrowed. Adorable. He doesn’t know how Hajime isn’t an Ultimate. In a way, he almost likes that he isn’t.
Within a few minutes of tanned hands twisting and turning rubber, he is finally presented with a cute little dog.
The ends of his lips tug upwards. He gently grabs the balloon, being extra careful to transport it into his arms.
“This is wonderful.” He says breathily.
Hajime looks at Nagito, bemused. “Your eyes are sparkling. I’ve never seen you so happy.” And almost as if it was an afterthought, he adds, “It looks good on you.”
What? “H-huh?”
“It seriously can’t be that surprising. It’s… nice to see you happy. Not that you don’t already look nice! You tied your hair and even wore a jinbei for the festival. You’re looking pretty good.”
The lucky student just stares at Hajime, who grows steadily more red under the gaze. The Reserve Course student swipes his hand through the air, as if that'll somehow dispel the flurry of thoughts going through his head. “Alright, what’s with that look?”
“I’m glad you think I look ‘good’, Hajime." He starts, "I wasn’t trying to impress anyone, much less someone like yourself, but I see your eyes would be more used to seeing trash in your everyday life and thinking it’s beautiful.”
Hajime stares him down. “Nagito, anyone at this camp would agree you’re good-looking. And I know you’re just saying that shit about me being a Reserve Course because you’re spiraling a little bit.” Ah. He looks at the ground. “Hey, it’s fine. We kinda talked about this, remember? I know we’re friends.”
He doesn’t reply. How could he? To be read so easily…
A warm hand grabs his shoulder. His gaze immediately whips to Hajime's face. “D-don’t think too much about this." A flustered Hajime spits out. "Let’s just go. We’re going around and enjoying this damn festival together.”
How is Hajime Hinata real?
“Is this your way of getting a date, Hajime?” He says playfully instead. “You could have just asked, you know. I’m sure Chiaki- or anyone else really- would not have declined.”
Hajime gives a raised eyebrow at the mention of Chiaki, but doesn’t seem to press it. Instead, he goes, “I’d rather be here with you, to be honest. I said it already, but it’s nice to have you out here. I might as well enjoy it while I can.”
Nagito shuts up at that. While judging Hajime the whole time, his face isn't any better, probably looking crimson at this point.
“And you dropped this.” Hajime waves the green balloon dog that ended up in his hands. The Ultimate blinks, surprised he had let go of it. However, the wind picks it out of Hajime’s hand and starts carrying it on its currents.
“Shit!” Hajime exclaims. He jumps, but it flies out of his reach.
“Fuck! I’m sorry Nagito, I didn’t mean to lose it.”
He easily waves it off with a chuckle. “No, it’s alright. Besides, you could always make another one.”
“I mean, honestly, this was pretty fun." Hajime admits, "I wouldn’t mind doing it again…”
And Hajime trails off, and he knows exactly why, considering he’s leaned in in that cutesy way he’s seen girls in dramas do. He smirks at Hajime’s bewildered face. While amused, he backs off, as if it was merely an accidental brush.
He sends him an innocent smile. Olive eyes narrow in response, but they face forward again in silent acceptance. It would be quite impressive, if Hajime’s face wasn’t flushed.
“There’s a restaurant here. You’re coming with me.”
He nods happily.
Things could always be worse because of my luck, but for some reason I feel like, perhaps, I'll be okay. But can I hope? Do I dare hope?
Nothing hurts more than hope getting crushed.
…But maybe…
Maybe this is worth it.

I know that we all collectively decided that Nagito would have a crush on Makoto due to his "Ult. Hope" title, but I think a small part of him would be jealous that Makoto had the same talent as him and it didn't ruin his fucking life. Just to make it more intersting.

Game Night (Makoto Yuuki x Fem!Reader)
inspired by a classic scenario + a not-so-recent bug in a popular game i keep needing to update but never do
Summary: Whenever your boyfriend plays games, you’re always there to support him 💚
Tags: cockwarming, does this count as public if it’s game chat?— either way gamer sex /hj, edging? kinda
Word Count: 1100
NSFW under cut~
Makoto was never one to turn down your affection, even when he was busy. In his mind, just being around you healed any weariness from his day that latched onto him. It was normal to have you settled in his lap while he played video games, occasionally pressing a kiss to the crown of your head or squeezing you affectionately to alleviate any rage. Your very being was soothing to the very skittish idol.
Right now was the only exception to that.
His jaw tensed as you teasingly wiggled on his lap. This was the most silent Makoto has been all game. He hasn’t even once spoken in the in-game voice chat like he normally does when he duos with Jun. Luckily, his friend wasn’t feeling like talking anyway either.
Pants and boxers shoved partially down his thighs, his dick was shoved comfortably in you as soon as he gave the okay. That was a couple matches ago and he couldn’t possibly fathom why he had said yes to this idea. His aim was entirely off and every time you shifted, he would let out a small whimper. You were facing him just to make it easier to ride him if you wanted.
“You’re sweating, babe~” You purred.
“I-It’s not like I can help it...” He grumbled in response.
Being the amazing partner you were, you tried to “calm” him down by planting kisses along his jaw and down to his collarbone. You could feel him swallow a little as you did so. His breath hitched when you grazed your teeth along his skin only to turn into a yelp when he gets blasted by somebody’s ult.
“You doing okay, Yuuki-san?”
Jun’s voice was faint from you position on his lap, but you could still hear it leaking through Makoto’s headphones.
“Eh?! I-I’m fine. Just died. Has my mic been on this whole time?!” Makoto panics clear as day as he speaks.
“No. Just heard you right now. Hot mic. I guess.”
You cover your mouth to suppress a laugh as your boyfriend tries to solve the issue.
“Okay... Now it should be muted.”
“Nope~”
“Augh!”
“Today just isn’t the day, huh?” Jun chuckles, “You’re normally really good at this game. What happened?”
“I’m just a little out of it—“
“Ayo, sorry. I might need a heal soon.” Another person in the team called out. “I’m defending right now and they’re sweaty.”
Jun cursed and, in the reflection in Makoto’s glasses, you saw Jun’s character dash away.
Makoto breathed out hard, muting himself— or at least he hoped— and moving the mic on his headset away from his mouth a little. He was sweating bullets as he continued on playing, trying to ignore how you purposefully clenched around him once the attention was away.
You didn’t want to humiliate him in front of others. Not completely, at least. You just thought the way he death stares down the monitor and presses his lips into a line was too attractive. You couldn’t keep to yourself whenever you saw it. Your hips raised, feeling the drag of his cock inside of you. Your chest was pressed against his in a way that you could feel how rapidly he was breathing.
“Babe...” He mumbled quietly, resting his chin on top of yours. “N-not now—“
His words were once again cut off by another whiny sound when you pushed your hips back down.
You heard his teammates ask how he’s doing and he let out the most pathetic excuse of a “Fine.” you’ve ever heard.
You simply covered his mouth and continued to ride him. Tantalizingly slow, you made sure to roll your hips and really push yourself onto his lap whenever you went down. Your eyes scanned over his flushed face, noting how his eyes were watering a little. He was trying not to close them out of pleasure. His eyes were practically black with how wide his pupils were as he stared at you.
Makoto slid down the chair a little, dick throbbing in your tight cunt. It made it all the more easier for his own hips to snap up and meet your bounces. Even with your hand covering his mouth, he was still letting out small noises. Having been in this position for a while, you both needed release. You started to pick up the pace, tipping your head back in pleasure and moving one hand down to play with your clit.
He didn’t have the mind to pay attention to the game all too well when he had you debauching yourself on top of him like this. He was purposefully throwing the match at this point so that in the few seconds it took to respawn, he could grab onto your hips and rut into you feverishly. He was growling, whining. You took a moment to lean in with a lascivious grin.
“Shhh... Do you want to get caught~?”
Your voice was quiet, but you were moving just as desperately as you neared your release.
As your bring your hips to smack back onto his lap, he groans. Loud. It was a miracle it coincided with him dying in game.
“You’ll get him next match, Yuuki-san,” Jun said over the mic.
Both you and Makoto’s eyes both widen as the realization hit that the mic issue hadn’t been fixed.
He scrambled, holding you down onto his lap so all you could do was grind needily against him. It wasn’t enough to send you over the edge. You needed to come, and so did he. But Makoto wasn’t going to let either of you get what you want just yet.
He pulled the mic on his headset closer as he eyed you down. His glasses were askew and his golden hair was tousled nicely. “Yeah. About that. I think I’m going to head off for tonight though.”
Thank the stars idols needed to learn breath control to sing while dancing like they do.
“Ah? Alright. I should probably go too. Good game everyone.”
Jun and everyone else said their goodbyes as Makoto exited out of the game as quickly as possible.
With a strength both of you didn’t realize he possessed, he lifted you onto his desk. The dim light of the monitor was the only thing illuminating his face. A stern look spread across it as he pinned down your wrists.
“You’re no fair, babe.” He huffed, slowly pulling out all the way before slamming himself back in.
You pulled him in for a kiss and a wink. “Never said I was. Now make me come, baby~”

Pinned Post (RP information)
My main "canon" is filtered through my own interpretation of V3 (I do really like the 'it was all a sim' AU, so that is typically the timeline that I go with). V3 Ult. Survivor Rantaro's answers are in black text (specifically *during* the KG).
Part of my headcanon for that timeline is that game 52 Rantaro, as Ult. Adventurer, probably had a somewhat different personality (why keep your characters the same through two separate games, says Team Danganronpa). You'll just have to find out more about him through the blog. His replies are in green.
Post-game Rantaro (after he dies in the sim and wakes up in the real world) gets blue text.
For anything referencing characters or events outside of V3 main storyline (like Makoto or Hajime), I go with my Hope's Peak University AU (basically the same vibe as Ultimate Summer Camp, but aged up to college because I can be more weird that way). Anything from that AU will be in purple.
Apart from that, I'm really generally open for most things. I do have my personal favorite Rantaro ships (Amamatsu and Amaguji), but I'm also a notorious multishipper. NSFW asks are fine, but I do not interact with anything involving incest or pedo shit or anything like that. Insta block.
I also don't really have anything for THH/SDR2 main canon (despair timeline) so you'll probably just get crack responses.
Have fun, don't be a dick to me or anyone else, and enjoy pestering the bastard avocado man. ❤️🥑

Can you slander Makoto? I hate him too tbh but I rarely saw slander of him
Waited my whole life for this ask /j
Aight let's begin:
He's average, he has no redeeming qualities and could literally be replaced by any character in the franchise.
He has no unique hobbies or interests at all, he would have nothing interesting or fun to talk with you about.
He gets no development throughout the franchise
He got in HPA as the Ultimate Luck but spends his time fucking getting punched and stuff.
He doesn't care about other characters, he didn't care about Taka when he went catatonic, he didn't try to empathise with Leon, he never heard Hiro out in the third chapter, he never says anything to stop people from being rude to Sakura.
All ships with him are super bland and annoying, they don't work because he's so average and boring.
His personality is only put positively, he has NO flaws and I mean NONE. This makes for a bad protagonist because he has no room to improve and that makes him uninteresting to the audience. I would've forgotten about him if he wasn't a placeholder.
He lets characters be mean and bitchy to him (mainly byakuya)
He never trains with Aoi, not even after Sakura dies. SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAINING ALONE GUYS, ALONE!
he's not relatable or realistic at all (tf are "The Meat Teens")
He's super annoying especially around Maizono-Chan
Poorly written and kinda bland
He has the most BASIC VA making him super forgettable, his VA is in every other anime on the planet and so he's easily forgettable.
He did nothing to get granted the title of Ult. Hope???
Average ass design, bro your jacket is BOOORING even Hifumi has a better fit tbh
He has no personality and no FTEs (bc he's a protag) so he seems super 2D compared to the other characters.
He's given too much credit as a protagonist when literally Kyoko does all the work.
Every time he's on screen I cry /hj
I skip his dialouge in UDG bc I can't stand his voice.
Milk Toast kinda guy
His suit design makes him look like an offbrand Fuyuhiko
His "hopeful attitude" is there until Sayaka needs him for support, he never asks further about her issues??? Until Leon needs some empathy for his situation, he goes "YOU MURDERED SAYAKA YOU BAD!!!" he wasn't there when Chihiro had a complex, they could've bonded "hey you may think you're weak but I KNOW I'm average" wasn't there for Mondo to help him in his final moments, wasn't there for Kiyotaka when he didn't even eat. I DID TAKA'S FTES IN CHAPTER 3 AND HE DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO HELP ("..." "..." "..." "Taka and I stood in silence for some time") he doesn't stop Toko and Hiro from calling Sakura ogre, and is scared of her for most of the game even though she's a sweetheart! He never sympathises with Yasuhiro (they were both framed at one point or another). He never helps Aoi after Sakura died, he never hears Toko/Jill out in ANY situation!
He keeps being accused of lying and nobody trusts him (chp.1 trial, chp.5 trial twice - masked figure attack, and his execution-)
He never works for anything, information is always given to him
The cast should've killed him and used his ahoge as a radio antenna to call for help, or connect it to alter-ego and get a radio signal.
A virtually untouchable character
All of his superfans go "He's such a pure innocent baby who did no wrong he's so cool!" but this list exists...
He never had any reason to kill, his motive/secret could've been hella interesting, he could've tried to kill, but we got nothing.
He's dense and any fics with him in it are boring.
Any other character would be a better suited protagonist.
Yeah this isn't the full list but I hope the anon enjoyed the ramble!
This is a hate against Makoto, yes, but this is my opinion, take this as you will. Please refrain from hating because at the end of the day we're all entitled to our beliefs.

was wondering if u had any thoughts about how byakuya, kyoko n makoto feel abt their talents or titles? just asking cuz lot of thh characters have interesting dynamics w their ultimates, like leon loving/hating baseball or even makoto feeling left out from all other ultimates because he was only "lucky." things change as makoto changes + he gains the unofficial title of ult hope and stuff, and kyoko canonically forgot about her talent until its revealed at the end (tho considering how much she investigates, she probably had a suspicion), but maybe you have some other ideas expanding on this?
sorry for the kinda vague question, your art is amazing btw
Alrighty then! I can work with this and I shall try my best to answer this! It's not to vague anyway and there's some interesting though experiments and discussions to be had here! Don't sweat it! Also thanks for the art compliment! Didn't know where to put this but I felt I shouldn't just not acknowledge it!! That might be rude! Here ya go though! Makoto: He feels both out of place due to his talent being just "the ultimate lucky student". He gets it to some extent though sometimes, he doesn't feel very lucky. When he becomes The Ultimate Hope, there's a still a bit of that feeling there. Mostly due to the fact that, he hasn't had this title for long. Just a moment ago, he still believed he was just some average joe. And now, he's impacting people's lives to THIS extent. It kinda puts him in a weird situation where Makoto gets where people are coming from but also has a bit of that self-doubt left inside of him. He's made himself believe that he's so average that it takes him a while to fully realize his strengths besides his optimism. Kyoko: Kyoko's identity is intrinsically linked to her Ultimate. Thus, even though she was relatively functional during her memory loss, it sitll hit her. It was if something was... missing. She couldn't pin point what but she had an inkling that something was off about her. Kyoko couldn't even give out info of her past to Makoto if she wanted to due to how bad her memory loss is. Once she finally recovers it, I can see her outlook on her talent being relatively the same but with some differences. One factor is that her regaining her memories wasn't clean and she may still have some fogginess in there. One cannot expect one's memory to just return to the way it was after what she went through anyway! Junko didn't hold back on her due to Kyoko being a detective and the headmaster's daughter. So, she might feel lost about her identity in some way due to the impact of the temporary memory erasure she got. Byakuya: Like Kyoko, Byakuya's identity is highly linked to his talent and world view. He distrusts others due to this and, because of his ties to his talent, in chapter 4, his whole worldview was put into question. This then led him freaking out during the trial, being defensive, and being forced to learn empathy. Though he ends up flipping back into his own level of normalcy, that revelation remains. The heir just ends up hiding it much better as to not have a freak out like he did before during that trial. That's short lived though since Junko ends up revealing that all the Togami's are dead which hits him hard once more. His legacy is almost gone. The great family name of the Togami's have fallen. And, sure. He's gonna rebuild it all. Kinda like with Kyoko's case though, it still leaves an impact. Byakuya heavily uses his last name as a crutch, showing it as a status of power. It's all he really knows. And, sure. He might not have had that close of a relationship with the majority of his family. It still stung though. It made him question even more on how great he really was. Yeah, Junko was diabolical and cunning. He still thinks of what could have been done to prevent all of this though and dwells. Also, the Ultimate title prob influences their outward appearance too. Though that isn't too crazy of a claim. But, maybe Makoto wears his get up both to subconsciously not seem bigger than he is but also to try and look a bit more presentable. Also it's trendy and he's a trend follower. It's probably comfy too. For Kyoko, the gloves are a key part of her backstory so there's that. She might also have that jacket or something cus it helps her keep a lot of notes in it. I dunno! Maybe it's got a ton of inner pockets to compensate for her skirt being pocketless. Also, for Byakuya, he's rich and all. Thus, it's all probably Togami branded and way too much money. I find it funny though that, he's the richest in the class but is the easiest to cosplay! Okay. May have rambled a bit at the end there! Hope this was good and made some sense though!!

Thinking about how the Ultimate Hope title is just that, a title.
Like, Makoto only got his title because he defeated Junko. That's it. He defeated Ultimate Despair so he became Ultimate Hope (even tho Kyoko should have that title too because he couldn't have done it without her, we literally have a whole ass separate ending to prove that).
But unlike Junko, and honestly the rest of Ult Despair, he doesn't chase after hope. He just wants an average ass life (boooooooring).
And same goes for Hajime/Izuru. He only has the Ult. title because he has every talent in him. He's Hope's Peaks' hope, so that makes him the Ultimate Hope. (Goes the other way too, once he became their despair, he became Ultimate Despair.)
And nagito doesn't really count bc no one considers him ult hope, except himself that one trial, but if you want to, he gave himself the title when he tried to end the remnants of Ult. Despair, making him an Ult. Hope in a sense.
What I'm getting at here is that the Ult Hope title is very flexible, similar to the Ult. Despair. It can belong to multiple people for different reasons.
So, wouldn't that mean Ryoko could be an Ultimate Hope?
She is literally Junko without her obsession and need for despair. She is Junko's base. Junko came from a version of Ryoko that gave up and embraced despair because it made her feel something. Ryoko is what makes Junko feel despair because Ryoko cares when Junko doesn't. Junko, in a backwards way, HOPES for Ryoko's existence, because then she can experience despair. Without her, Junko could not be Ult despair.
Junko is Ryoko's Ultimate Despair and Ryoko is Junko's Ultimate Hope.

since you watched dr3, what were part(s) did you like and what part(s) did you dislike?
That's a little hard to answer since it's been some time since I watched dr3, but I'll do my best:
Things I liked:
Ult. Imposter and Mitarai. Enough said.
Getting to see the Danganronpa 2 cast in a normal not life-threatening situation in the Despair Arc (at least for the first half)
The dark and tense atmosphere of the Future Arc reminds me of THH almost
The Hope Arc was amazing and so satisfying to see
The Sexy Soup scene is hilarious, y'all need to get a sense of humor
The scene with the student council is genuinely bone-chilling and disturbing in the best way possible. Somehow even though you only see these characters for 5 to 10 minutes tops, something about their designs and the ways they interact make you feel like you know them... and then you watch them butcher each other like a pack of rabid wolves
In a similar vein, the scene with Despair Makoto is heartbreaking and very hard to watch, but again I mean that in the best way. It seemed like he was the only one who we actually got to see the aftermath of the trauma that the Killing Game left on him
Byakuya becoming actually kind of likable
I quote "Too Complicated -- Monika is shutting her brain off permanently! YAHOOO! No more THINKING!" more often than I would like to admit
Things I did not like:
Ruruka. Just... fucking Ruruka
Breaking News: Local Homosexual allows apocalypse to happen so he can stay in the closet
Junko and Mukuro doing... very unsisterly things
The fact that it birthed the "KAMAKURA KAMAKURA YAS QUEEN" meme
Kyoko dying and coming back to life felt a little pointless, but I guess they didn't know how else to get to the Despair Makoto scene
That's about all I can think of for now. A'ight I'mma go back to playing Sims 3.

Yes danganronpa is mainly a battle of hope and despair, but to forget the third category can lead to a huge misunderstanding of some character dynamics. I’m talking about Takumi again. Spoilers for Killer Killer and Zero.
Hope is typically watered down to the “good” side. It can be flexible because “goodness” in itself is a complicated subject, but in the face of disaster and destruction, hope is needed to rebuild, example of course being Makoto risking it all to try to save people who “don’t deserve it” because giving up on people is against everything he stands for. Okay, clear enough, that’s easy.
In the opposite side, despair is chaos and destruction, but more basic it’s the “bad” in the world. Hurting people because there’s nothing else to do and nothing matters. Of course, this is Junko, we know this. A great example is the opening to DR Zero, where she’s killed the entire reserve course but specifically realizes when she’s coming down from the misery of it she doesn’t hurt enough. Despair is the destruction of everything you love because misery is all you know.
It’s stated pretty clear that Yasuke doesn’t align with either side. His motives are our secret third option; love. Love is like a wild card, it’s the grey area between hope and despair. He’s a doctor, he has spent his entire life only wanting to help people out of love for his mother. It’s his love of Junko that allows him to be blackmailed into comprising his morals and working for Jin Kirigiri.
The there’s Takumi. I think when people frame him as the protagonist of DR Killer Killer, they’re making a huge mistake. Misaki is the protagonist, and I believe has the potential to the an ult. hope. Shinji is despair, he’s destructive out of disgust of destruction, he tries to kill Misaki more than once and is upset Takumi cares about her. Takumi though has his own code. He’s obsessed, he wants to be just like Mukuro, and his love of the “perfect” murder motivates everything he does until Misaki is in his life. Once she’s there, however, and actually tries to understand him, his goals shift. While murder is still important to him, so is Misaki. Killer Killer ends with each of them fulfilling their roles perfectly; Shinji has become the thing he hates most, Misaki has put the fate of the world on the unmovable hope Takumi will to the right thing, and Takumi destroys the “perfect murderer” for Misaki.
Takumi isn’t the hope in Killer Killer, he’s LOVE. He’s the wild card, the grey area. And isn’t that more fitting?

i think it’s interesting that komaeda alludes to chapter 5 as a final battle between hope and despair (the specific scene im remembering is the boat scene but im p sure he says this during the chapter itself too) because to me it reads as another battle between two hopes. both destroying the remnants of despair and forcing them to confront the truth and overcome their past are outcomes of hope. so which will win in the end which is stronger will makoto or munakata emerge triumphant etc etc etc.
but it’s the fact that komaeda initially views this as a battle between hope and despair that interests me. from an objective standpoint it WOULD be a battle between two hopes (every trial before 2-5 he describes the class vs blackened dynamic as being a hope vs hope dynamic), so i think its his emotions skewing his worldview. i mean he’s distraught and enraged and horrified after finding out the remnants of despair thing, AND his worldview about talent is already falling in on itself because the whole point of being ult despair is using your talents to embody despair, which is against what he believes in… so of course he’d view the outcome of the remnants surviving as despair, because he feels despair towards the remnants. even though the point is that hope will always overcome despair — and wouldn’t it be the ultimate instance of hope for the very root of the apocalypse to overcome its despair?
i think komaeda subconsciously understands this, but again, he’s just emotional. case in point: 2.5. this is why ive never been angry that 2.5 kinda retcons his motive in the end, when he says he believed hajime would make it to the lowest stratum + generally the fact that komaeda is nonchalant about being woken up, almost as if he knew hajime would win. in his clear mind, he’s able to acknowledge his subconscious belief that hajime would win, and that the remnants are the stronger hope. he had faith in hajime to figure out the case.
