Yes danganronpa is mainly a battle of hope and despair, but to forget the third category can lead to a huge misunderstanding of some character dynamics. I’m talking about Takumi again. Spoilers for Killer Killer and Zero.
Hope is typically watered down to the “good” side. It can be flexible because “goodness” in itself is a complicated subject, but in the face of disaster and destruction, hope is needed to rebuild, example of course being Makoto risking it all to try to save people who “don’t deserve it” because giving up on people is against everything he stands for. Okay, clear enough, that’s easy.
In the opposite side, despair is chaos and destruction, but more basic it’s the “bad” in the world. Hurting people because there’s nothing else to do and nothing matters. Of course, this is Junko, we know this. A great example is the opening to DR Zero, where she’s killed the entire reserve course but specifically realizes when she’s coming down from the misery of it she doesn’t hurt enough. Despair is the destruction of everything you love because misery is all you know.
It’s stated pretty clear that Yasuke doesn’t align with either side. His motives are our secret third option; love. Love is like a wild card, it’s the grey area between hope and despair. He’s a doctor, he has spent his entire life only wanting to help people out of love for his mother. It’s his love of Junko that allows him to be blackmailed into comprising his morals and working for Jin Kirigiri.
The there’s Takumi. I think when people frame him as the protagonist of DR Killer Killer, they’re making a huge mistake. Misaki is the protagonist, and I believe has the potential to the an ult. hope. Shinji is despair, he’s destructive out of disgust of destruction, he tries to kill Misaki more than once and is upset Takumi cares about her. Takumi though has his own code. He’s obsessed, he wants to be just like Mukuro, and his love of the “perfect” murder motivates everything he does until Misaki is in his life. Once she’s there, however, and actually tries to understand him, his goals shift. While murder is still important to him, so is Misaki. Killer Killer ends with each of them fulfilling their roles perfectly; Shinji has become the thing he hates most, Misaki has put the fate of the world on the unmovable hope Takumi will to the right thing, and Takumi destroys the “perfect murderer” for Misaki.
Takumi isn’t the hope in Killer Killer, he’s LOVE. He’s the wild card, the grey area. And isn’t that more fitting?

jealousy, jealousy !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: my ramble about yasu! i’ve loved this man since sixth grade so i hope u like it as much as i loved writing it rheheheheheeh
cw: jealous yasu, p in v, cream pies, roughish sex
Tumblr media
yasu’d watched dozens of women be persuaded by takumi, always watching from the sidelines as takumi would smirk, lean in close to them and mention how he had a hotel room big enough for two. yasu had always disapproved, shaking his head and rolling his eyes, but who was he to say anything? until now. you were young, a groupie of BLAST, probably in your first year of college if yasu had to guess. and pretty, just like takumi liked, just like yasu liked, long hair and doe eyes enough to make any man swoon.
you’d come to nana’s apartment, an early fan meaning you’d worked your way up to a friendship with the members, and the trapnest members had joined as well. you all sat around the nana’s kitchen table playing poker and sipping on beers as everyone but you and hachiko chain smoked cigarettes. takumi sat close to you, too close, as he whispered something yasu couldn’t make out in your ear. you blushed a bit, flustered as you pushed takumis chest playfully making yasu cringe. he was at his limit by now, watching how takumi had flirted with you all night, be began to feel his blood boil over. he didn’t know why he was so protective over you, maybe it was how young you were, your innocent nature. or maybe it was the way your doe eyes would lock with his, brushing your hair over your shoulder with a big smile, that made his cock stir in his pants.
the night carried on, with everyone getting more and more drunk as takumi had found the courage to wrap his arm around your waist, pulling you close. it was nearing two in the morning at this point and yasu knew if he didn’t put an end to this you’d just be another notch in takumis bed post (so to speak).
“i’ll walk you home.” yasu interjects just as takumi was about to slip you a hotel key. takumi eyes him scornfully as you mumble out an okay before sliding out of the booth seat.
the air was crisp as yasu and you walked the ten minutes to your small apartment, the silence suffocating as yasu searched for something to say.
“he’s not a good guy,” yasu settles on, looking at you from the top of his sunglasses he always wore, even late at night.
“who?” you spoke back, taking a turn as you look up at him.
“takumi.” yasu all but spits his name out as he sees your complex come into view, “just watch yourself with him, would you?”
you laugh then, loud and light, and it makes yasu almost stumble over his footing at hearing it. it’s nearing january and yasu notices your rosy cheeks and nose as your eyes crinkle up when you laugh and it makes yasu think things that made him feel downright disgusting.
“i can handle myself yasu.” you laugh more, bumping your shouldering into his arm as you enter your complex, yasu in toe.
you’re climbing the stairs as yasu continues to scold you on takumis “womanizer” ways and honestly you’re half listening as you give him an occasional eye roll.
“i’m not that interested in him.” you say honestly, reaching your apartment as you turn to look at him, “the flirting was harmless, i know better.” you speak out matter-of-factly with a nod to your head.
“you say that until he works you into his bed.” yasu crosses his arms over his chest as you unlock the door letting you both in to your small apartment.
“his bed isn’t the one i want to be in.” your tipsy self states before you could bite your tongue, and you have to resist slapping yourself against your forehead.
in reality, you’d always noticed how handsome yasu was, he was kind and handsome and spent so much time caring for you and everyone else it was hard to not develop a crush. but to almost expose yourself like this? how stupid could you be? you just hoped he didn’t press the matter.
he did in fact press the matter, leaning against the island of your kitchen as he hums out, “yeah? what does that mean? got a crush i don’t know about?”
you huff out, not wanting to press the matter further as you joke, “yeah it’s ren. you think nana’ll kill me?”
“no…. because you’re lying.” he rounds the island stepping close to you and he can smell your perfume and beer wafting off of you and it makes him stir as he tries to keep his composure. he need to stay calm, keep his hands to himself, be better then takumi. he can admit he was attracted to you, anyone with eyes would be attracted to you, but he had to remain calm. especially when you looked at him with that hazy, tipsy expression, your cheeks still flushed from the cold and alcohol as you leaned against his bigger frame for support.
“then i guess you’ll never know!” you laugh again, leaning closer into his body for support. he felt warm against you, safe like he always did, and you wondered if he felt this warm underneath his clothes, if he would burn you up with his body ontop of yours, if he— no. that wasn’t okay to think. and you’d hoped he hadn’t caught onto your thoughts.
but yasu wasn’t stupid, he’s noticed the way your body inched closer to his, how your legs clamped together, and yasu wondered if you’d felt the same. he wasn’t drunk, but he was tipsy enough to let his reason be diluted by alcohol. so when he turned himself around to face you, his chest pressed against your side, he noticed how you didn’t inch away from him and it thrilled him. he tested the waters then, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and turning you so your flush with his chest.
“who you thinkin about, sweetheart?” he asks, a raspy-ness to his voice that made you shudder. he moves a piece of hair away from your face, looking down at you as if he could eat you whole and you felt heat rise form within you. “promise i won’t tell.” he whispers.
and you’re not sure where the courage comes from, maybe it’s the alcohol or maybe it’s the heat rising from inside you but you shift your weight between your legs as you whisper out, “you.”
and that’s all yasu needs before he’s crashing himself into you, placing his lips against yours in a rough kiss which you immediately reciprocate. the kiss is hot and all tongue and teeth as he wraps one arm around your waist, the other hand finding itself wrapped up in your hair as he pushes his face into yours as he completely devours you. yasu pulls away long enough to look you in the eyes and speak lowly, “i’ve been waiting to hear you say that.”
you mewl as he begins to attack your neck with his lips, leaving open wet kisses from your jaw to your collar bone as he pushes your body impossibly closer against his. you can feel the tent in his pants pressing against you and it makes you shiver as your wrap your arms wrap his neck, leaning your head to give him more access to the hollow of your neck.
“jump.” he says, his voice full of lust and he lifts your body up onto the island. you waste no time as you part your legs letting him work himself between them as he grips the flush of your thighs pulling you closer to him.
“do you want this?” he mumbles into your ear, leaving wet kisses around it, “want me, angel?” he groans out when he feels you shift around, his voice affecting you in more ways then one.
“more than anything.” you breathe out as he works on pulling your top over your head, taking his large hands and palming your breasts through your lacey bra once he gets your top slipped off. you’re a mewling mess, whimpering beneath him, and it just eggs him on as he works on unclasping your bra.
once he works your bra off he wastes no time in attaching his lips around your nipple and he heard his first moan from you, broken and loud as you wiggle around underneath his touch. or fuels the fire from within him as he bites down on a nipple, causing you to yelp out.
“keep making sounds like that pretty girl, i won’t be able to help myself.” yasu groans, taking his hand and tweaking at your other nipple. you’re a moaning mess, rocking your hips for any sort of friction. yasu picks up on it, slipping his hand into the waistband of your skirt and underwear, ghosting your clit as you cry out for him. “you like that, hm? sweet thing.” he groans, pressing two fingers against your nub. you’re moaning and begging for more as he laughs softly, “patience, little girl.”
he begins circling your clit making your mouth open in a silent moan, his fingers are rough against your clit yet his movements are soft and delicate, enough to work you up to the edge quickly. “i’m gunna—“ you cry out, but he interrupts you, pulling his fingers away from your core causing you to cry out.
“not yet, pretty. bend over the island.” you do as he says, quickly adjusting yourself so your chest is pressed against the cool surface. you’re on the tips of your feet and you feel yasu lift your skirt up, pulling the lace of your underwear down. “god baby,” he groans out, taking palming your ass roughly, “you don’t know how long i’ve wanted this.” you hear his other hand pull his pants down, you can feel his cock spring out against you and it makes you mewl.
you turn to look, wide eyes as you realize just how big he is. long and thick and leaking precum and it makes you bite into your lip hard. “think you can take it all, angel?” he laughs, spreading you apart with his hands to marvel in your drooly cunt. “you’re fucking soaked.”
yasu takes his cock in his hands, rubbing it against your cunt, toying with your clit making you shiver. “mmmph!” you whine, pushing yourself towards him.
“greedy thing,” he groans out, lining himself up with your entrance, “ready sweet girl?”
you nod as much as you can, a hazy expression over your face as you bite down on your lip harder. yasu pushes himself inside of you and you whine out loudly, it felt like he was invading you, large and completely filling you up. he’s groaning, deep and animalistic, as he goes slowly giving you time to adjust to him.
“fuck, sweet thing. fuck.” he moans out, pushing himself all the way into you. you’re gripping the smooth surface of the counter, whimpering as he begins a steady pace in and out of you. he goes slow at first, slow steady thrusts as he runs his hand up the expanse of you back.
“h-harder.” you whine out, face flushed as yasu nods his head, gripping your hips and slamming into you roughly. it jolts you forward legs hitting against the island as yasu begins fucking into you ruthlessly.
“look so pretty like this, yeah?” he hums fucking into you hard, “takumi couldn’t appreciate you like i can baby.” he moans, slamming your hips back against his cock as he thrusts into you. you’re a mess, whining and moaning underneath him as you cry out his name. he’s going impossibly fast, bullying your g spot with each thrust, your body knocking against the island as you turn into an overwhelmed mess. “that’s right, sweetheart. takin it so—“ he thrusts hard into you, “good.”
you can feel the heat inside you rise as yasus thrusts begin to feel sloppy. your whining and telling him you’re about to cum as he ruts into you, “hold it sweet thing. almost there.” he grunts out, leaning down to place open mouth kisses along your spine.
“cum.” he grunts out, and you both come undone. spasming around his cock as he cums deep inside of you. the heat of his cum makes you orgasm harder, your body convulsing and shaking as you whine out his name over and over. he’s grunting, practically growling, as his hips stutter and he releases inside of you mumbling on about how takumi could never make you feel this good. you’re both on cloud nine as your eyes glaze over and yasu bites into your shoulder to keep from screaming.
once calmed down, yasu pulls himself out of you, watching as his cum leaks down your leg, “gotta keep you forever now, baby. my girl.” he hums appreciatively, running his finger to collect some of his cum before pushing it back inside of you making you mewl out.
“you’re girl.” you agree, blissed out, as yasu places soft kisses along the curve of your body.
“always.”

“Being a Member of BLAST”
Life is short why not take a chance and join a band? Masc!reader intended
Minor spoilers for NANA
Joining | Nana
Actually joining the band wasn’t hard especially because when you met Nana there was no band💀
You guys met at the train station when she first moved to Tokyo
You already lived in Tokyo and were just returning from a trip when you saw her
It was like an instant click she caught your eye
“Hey, do you happen to sing by any chance?”
“Who are you?”
“Don’t worry about that just know I can play guitar pretty damn good if I do say so myself!”
She was tired from the long ass ride and didn’t know anyone in Tokyo aside from Ren
Went back to your place and played for her
“I’ll think about it.”
Nana isn’t a very emotional or open person so she tends to keep secrets but over time if you guys get that close she’ll vent to you
If you smoke she’ll always ask you for your lighter
Older sister younger brother energy
Opposites | Hachi
Nana paid you an abrupt visit to tell you about her new place and totally not just for you to fix the AC
Checking the place out you laid eyes on an inverted version of Nana
“Hi, I’m Nana Komatsu!”
“Just call her Hachi.”
“Nana!”
“Nice to meet you, Hachi?”
She’s had a crush on just about every BLAST member , so, of course she has had a crush on you before
If you wear makeup or paint your nails she would love to do it for you
Amazing cook and if you ever wanted anything she’d happily make it for you
She rlly just wants to be needed
Definitely went to you for relationship advice with Nobu
You tend to just appear places so you were one of the first people to know about her pregnancy and went to the hospital with her
You stayed outside though to avoid ppl thinking you were the father 💀
You def don’t help with her shopping addiction
Shopping sprees constantly that’s why your broke as shit
“Should I get the soft blue or purple skirt?”
“Both.”
After the Takumi drama you guys would stay in contact and when Nobu wasn’t at your place she’d come to watch you practice alone
You’d support her decision because it’s her life in the end
Formation | Nobuō
The unforgiving aggression spewing from your ringing phone at the dead of night
Some random number was calling you and for whatever reason you answered, confident that it wasn’t a scam caller
“Hello?”
“It’s Nana, come over.”
“I’m not into late night favours if you get what I mean.”
“That’s not what I’m calling for, just get over here!”
Reluctantly wandering the dark streets of Tokyo you made your way over to Nana’s apartment, you’d only been there once to help with the AC where you learned of the other Nana or Hachi
Opening the door to reveal the two residents and a blonde man standing with his guitar in hand
“Took you long enough. Anyways, like I said Nobuo I already have a guitarist so go home.”
“Well we could always play together I have nothing against dual guitars!”
“You aren’t helping.”
“Good.”
You and Nobu got along great your guitars and personalities blending perfectly
He talks with you about everything especially when he and Hachi get together
If you’re shorter than/same height him he’d be happy to have another short guy in the band
If you’re taller he’d be happy if you didn’t make fun of his height though he does tend to light heartedly joke abt it
He likes to go to you for fashion inspiration and vice versa
Drunk karaoke
You would help him with song writing
You guys would be around the same age too so besties
You guys get along the best in the band
The bass | Shin
After the whole Nobu moving to Tokyo fiasco all you guys need is a bassist and drummer
Nobu sending you a picture of Hachi’s little drawing of the 3 of you on the band poster
You met up with them at the studio to practice with Shinichi on bass
For such a young kid he was pretty good player (granted your only like 6-7 years older)
Being confused right alongside him when everyone stopped playing
You, Shin, and Nobu are like the 3 musketeers
You- Oldest, Nobuo - Middle, Shin - Youngest
Shin snatched your clothes on a daily basis much like he does with Nobu
Unlike Nobu, you don’t care
He stays over at your place more than you’d like to admit
He basically lives there
He would definitely go to you about the Reira/Layla situation
Has mini fashion shows in your room with a fake runway and everything
You guys play games together on your console
He relaxes and is actually a kid when he hangs out with you
Has you paint his nails
He has moments when he storms off if you bring up a certain subject but he never stays mad for long and shows up at your door
Likes to go eat at new places with you especially if you’re paying for it
“I’m gonna get the chocolate croissants, one of those fancy hot chocolates, and..oh! You’re paying for this right?”
“Um..”
Bit a of spoiler kinda but later in the manga when he got arrested you’d be the only one to visit him
Completion | Yasu
You definitely shat yourself when you first met Yasu
He’s the responsible one in the band so he’s like a father figure to you especially if you didn’t have one
You two probably get to the studio first before anyone else
He’d always let you talk/rant to him if you ever needed to
Would be surprised if you remembered his birthday and got him a gift
If you smoke he’d go on smoke breaks with you
If you don’t smoke he’d make sure to hold his cigarette away from you/out of your face
Would teach you various card games
If you didn’t want to watch a movie alone he’d watch it with you
Any legal troubles go to him
Scratch that ANY troubles go to him
“Man you’re like a wise monk.”
“..because I’m bald?”
“No, because you’re wise..and because you’re bald.”

The Grumps have now crossed over from “this case is stupid” to legitimate rage when it comes to Turnabout Big Top. You can tell Arin’s rage side is coming out when he shouted, “WHO WROTE THIS?!” when it came to the joke about Max’s bust. And Dan is doing the thing where he’s sounding tired and defeated, which usually means he’s mad.
What’s funny is that they’re angry at the case for a different reason than most of the people who played it already. I noticed that most people hate Big Top for the underaged Regina worship, or the love triangle. But the Grumps hate Big Top because the jokes aren’t funny, the story isn’t good, and they hate all the characters. They didn’t even notice the Regina age issue until a few episodes into the story.
It’s to the point where they’re convinced a different writer was in charge of this episode, when the truth is that it was Takumi who wrote this. It’s just he was drunk as hell and Capcom gave him as much time for one case in the original game to write ALL of Justice for All.

save for the dual destinies dlc case, i’ve finished my first play through of the mainline ace attorney games. incredibly solid series. i have a draft with my thoughts on each case in the aj trilogy + game ratings. dunno if i’d wanna post it though, it’s kinda long.
so instead, i’ll post some misc thoughts about phoenix and edgeworth portrayals across mainline/aai + my personal favorite interpretations of them by the writing team!
spoilers for AA mainline and AAI duology
by far, my favorite phoenix portrayal is og trilogy phoenix. the way he interacts with his environment and the people around him is very authentic, albeit rude as hell (which, in hindsight, is even more authentic for phoenix, so…). saw someone’s tumblr post mention that phoenix is such a “straight guy” which…yeah LMAO. real to life accuracy, so much so it’s infuriating. i think what i’ve played of dd’s dlc case captures what i wanted to see from post-trilogy phoenix in that he’s still an asshole and comically stupid, but not actually stupid, if ykwim. something i disliked abt the rest of aa5 and aa6 is how the writing team watered his character down to the following two oversimplifications: “phoenix only wins cases bc he bluffs!” and “uhh...what evidence does phoenix present now?”
don’t mistake a silly man for a stupid man. mia calls phoenix a genius in the og trilogy. phoenix dives in head first but he’s meticulous when it comes to drawing out the truth. most of all, he doesn’t outwardly show how frazzled he is (see that one drew misham quote about phoenix quietly watching the court as he’s accused of forging evidence), even if he feels that way. i get the colorful usage of expressions is for comedic effect but it just makes him look like he doesn’t know wtf he’s doing, and that’s a disservice to his character. yes, he bluffs, but he isn’t clueless. anyway, i’m excited to replay the first trilogy now that i “know” second trilogy phoenix. that might also just be my way of saying “give me back MY phoenix”, bc the last time i’m (mostly) on board w his portrayal is in aa4, and even then i didn’t like the dialogue in his forged evidence trial.
*though, as of writing this, i’ve seen some good arguments abt his forged evidence trial dialogue that make me think ok maybe it was actually pretty accurate. let’s see wht i think on replay
on the other hand, my favorite edgeworth—at least in principle—is post-apollo justice edgeworth. in many ways, i think how he’s portrayed at 35 is how he would’ve been had dl-6 not occurred, barring his career choice. still a bit pompous, still fairly mean (at least on the surface, we all know he cares more than he lets on) and perhaps a bit uptight, but self-assured and just. the writing team makes a point to show that edgeworth doesn’t care about prestige or fancy titles. that feels like him in a way post-first trilogy edgeworth doesn’t. this particular point was fleshed out in aa1 and rfta, tho, so idk if i can give yamazaki credit for it.
there are some things that will always bother me abt post-first trilogy edgeworth (the problems are present in the aai duology as well) where the writing team shoves him into a box teeming with boring tropes for his character archetype.
an example:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
creds for both these pictures: me
edgeworth is fine w pictures in the first trilogy, but comes to hate them in the aai duology.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ik it’s small but honestly what was the reason? what justification is there for this outside of wanting to fit edgeworth into a “cold character” stereotype?
bridge to the turnabout and turnabout ablaze are only about a month apart. i’m not buying into the sudden aversion to picture taking, regardless how minute a criticism it is. in any case, i feel like what i’m trying to say comes through w these screenshots: yamazaki’s edgeworth is always just a little off.
i am forgetting where i saw the post and i have too many liked posts to scroll thru to find it again but i saw a reblog?? tumblr post?? abt yamazaki and takumi’s diff approaches to edgeworth, where takumi says edgeworth listens to trot while yamazaki thinks he’d listen to classical music, and if that doesn’t drive the point home, idk wht will.
why then, did i enjoy post-aj edgeworth most? short answer is i’m taking liberties w his development and its implications. while i never completely buy into post-aa3 edgeworth, i can digest and get behind most of him when i’m not nitpicking, unlike w post-aj phoenix. does edgeworth feel a little uninspired and one- as opposed to three-dimensional? yeah, but his core is so strong i can overlook it. i’ll miss seeing a developed edgeworth when replaying the trilogy. him at 35 makes me feel warm inside.
anyway, i didn’t intend to start hating when i made this post bc i ultimately still believe the second trilogy was pretty good, if not overly ambitious with it's storytelling. maybe i'll post that AJ trilogy review.
overall, tho, t&t and aai2 were my favorite games to come out of the franchise. i’m going to do that slow replay of the first trilogy, aai duology, and aj:aa before making final judgments.

“What will become of my dear friend?
Where will his actions lead us then?"
For People who are unaware of my spontaneous Vampire AU, here is a small recap (or refer back to this blog posts from previous years):
2022
2023
Vampires are seen as mosquitoes in this world. They visit humans very frequently so they are viewed as a nuisance. Especially if the Vampires enjoy your blood type, they visit the same household over and over. It’s kind a similar to how we view grocery stores. So because of that, a lot of people do have repellants to ward off these pesky vampires. However, some witnesses have stated that the Vampire are very beautiful so a lot of people purposely do not hang any repellants to get the chance to see vampiric beauty.
Much like how we have bug control, they have Vampire Hunters. The biggest Vampire Hunters is the Takahashi Household. They are famous for their skilled work and their various hunts of the strongest vampires. It has been said that they purposely maintain their body to provide delicious blood to the vampires to purposely attract them (almost like moths to a flame). Many Vampires are aware of this so despite the tempting smell, so they usually hold back except for one Vampire named Takumi. In which that he does prove the rumours are very true. Their blood is by far the best even compared to the most wealthiest blood in the market.
If you’re wondering as to how Vampires get their blood, there isn’t much of a law system so a Vampire can steal a human’s blood without punishment. The Vampire can either choose to hunt or simply buy it from the market. Similar to our meat market, there are grades to the blood.
First being Commoner blood, the most standard level of blood. Next is High blood, usually are owners of wealthy humans. Next up is Aristocrat, as the name states, blood from old nobility. Depending on the name, the price can vary. After that is Royal blood, known for its prestige. Then lastly, Hunter’s blood which is the only unattainable blood since every Vampire who tried to acquire it usually ends up being dead. It’s the most sought after blood due to the smell of it being so good that even without tasting it, you just know it would be divine.
(Fun fact, the wealthy vampires actually enjoys the Aristocrat and High blood more than the Royal blood. The Royal blood is known to be a little too sugary and the lack of exercise ruins the taste.)
I always like to imagine this vampire AU as a weird musical and oddly enough, Nightmare before Christmas and The Phantom Opera always get the perfect vibe.
No really, I have this mini musical in my head that if I don’t sketch it out, I will go insane.
The funniest part when I first was writing this, it was started off as a joke. When I heard that Vampires are beautiful to lure humans in, I just thought about closeted dudebros. Like what if some dude fell in love with a Vampire but blamed it on the Vampire’s charm. Rather than realizing his feelings, he is like “THIS VAMPIRE IS CURSING ME WITH HIS HANDSOMENESS. YOU DEMON.” And the Vampire is like, “Dude, I wasn’t even trying to charm you.”
Like wouldn’t it be funny of an over dramatic man being like, “BE GONE YOU FOUL BEAST” and he throws a piece of garlic at the vampire and he is like, “ow…. You asshole…. You could have just told me to leave”
If you would like to know yes, Ryosuke does bring up the ridiculousness of Keisuke being in a relationship with a vampire despite him being a Vampire Hunter. Of course, Keisuke would do the cliche thing of “YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND OUR LOVE” and just storm off.

Im just thinking about Shuuji
like, the fact that on the surface level, Shuuji is supposed to be the more morally "good" KillerKiller.
he HATES murder, he finds it disgusting to the point of vomiting while talking about it. he kills killers the purge the world of evil, he wants to protect innocent people. He wants to be the hero. thats why he dreamt about being a police officer.
but theres one thing that overrides all of that.
his love for Takumi.
and because of that, we see that he isn’t as good as he tries to portray himself. He’s willing to kill hundreds of innocents just to get Takumi to stop being KillerKiller. hes willing to throw away all his morals to "save" one person. he even offs himself just so Takumi can’t kill him.
Contrast to Takumi, who is very snooty about killings, but it comes from a place of love and passion. He doesn’t try to pass it off as some haughty bullshit like Shuuji does. He kills killers because he loves passionate murders. He finds murder beautiful.
He doesn’t kill non killers. Not even when he’s backed into a corner (ex: Juzo). He keeps his morals straight, even if they are horrible. Hes honest with himself and everyone else, hes a serial killer who kills other serial killers because he’s in love with the concept of murder. thats it.
which is fascinating when Takumi rates Shuuji's killings a 100/100, despite not being passionate. (the only time we see a perfect score, its implied mukuro also has a perfect score but we never see it)

Corrin/Kamui and Takumi supports in the Japanese version vs the localized version
Tumblr media
I already made a post about the support differences between the original Japanese version vs the localized version with the Hoshidan siblings ....I just realized that my post was too long, so I'll repost it with each section of its own, so that it can be read easily.
Note that I would use Corrin’s Japanese Hoshidan name, Kamui interchangeably for flavour. I would use Corrin for the EN while Kamui for the JP.
Takumi & Kamui
C SUPPORT:
In EN Corrin wants to connect to Takumi, but his response is hostile and they’re being sarcastic with each other due to Corrin’s background with Nohr. Corrin wants to learn archery to prove his loyalty and dedication to Hoshido, to gain trust and give him a chance to prove himself in battle his loyalty.
In JP, Kamui wants to connect with Takumi like in EN BUT because he wants to bond with him. Takumi isn’t fully trusting him but he is open to bond with Kamui unlike his reactions in EN. As Kamui didn’t grow up with Takumi, he didn't know what to talk about and it became awkward. As Kamui sees that Takumi is into archery, learning through him would be a good place to start bonding.
Comparing the two versions, you will see that EN’s theme is all about loyalty, while the JP version is about sibling bonding. [Skipped lines means they are exactly the same
Tumblr media
Like I said, EN Takumi is more sarcastic and hard on Corrin versus the JP version. Also take note of these closing lines of the JP version because it will appear again in their A-support and it’s worth mentioning.
B SUPPORT:
In this support, it shows Takumi teaching Corrin archery, then taking a break. When EN Corrin says that Takumi makes it look easy, he does not take this well and sees it as sarcasm and when talking about archery they both just brush it off as effortless. But in the JP,when Kamui expresses that archery is harder than it looks. JP Takumi gives his insights about the beauty and effort of archery which was cut out in EN. Kamui praises Takumi how amazing Takumi is and Takumi didn’t expect such praise that it caught him off guard other than the sarcastic remark in EN.
You can see how the EN version again condensed the JP script comparing the two. In short. The EN version shows Takumi doing it effortlessly while the JP version shows beauty and perfection in archery.
Tumblr media
A SUPPORT:
At the end of the B support Corrin injured his hand and in this A support he still strives to learn archery despite his injuries.
In EN, Corrin says that Takumi is a strict but a good teacher and he hoped that Corrin was worth his time. Then Takumi admits that he is good but doubts him. This shows that he’s truly dedicated and loyal to Hoshido and wants to continue to train him.
But in JP, the whole time Kamui is genuinely excited to learn, you could tell he wants to bond with his little brother Takumi, and compliments him how amazing he is. And in turn, Takumi is liking Kamui and sees what a gentle and kind person he is and now sees him as a sibling and enjoying his company. This recognition makes Kamui very happy.
The major changes in themes you would notice is that in EN Corrin is doing it as an obligation/business to prove his loyalty and dedication. And in JP that Kamui wants to connect and know more about Takumi who once was hostile to him, it is a true sibling bonding and to have connection.
Tumblr media
Remember those final lines in their C-support, it’s cute in A-support there’s a call back to that in the JP version: “Please treat me well, big brother Kamui”.
Tumblr media
MY THOUGHTS:
Takumi and Kamui’s relationship is interesting because it had a rocky start. I always find their dynamic interesting and I am curious how their support would play out. When I first read the EN supports, it didn’t feel like they’re connecting, it felt more like a business relationship and just doing it to resolve things. When I read these supports in JP, I LOVE IT! It mending their relationship, it felt more meaningful than the EN version, and it felt like a genuine sibling bonding.
The whole time I was reading the JP version , I was like “WHYYYY???????!!”. Why the heck the localization team rewrote this from a nice bonding/connecting to just doing it to prove loyalty. In the original Takumi is more receptive and I love the final lines of Takumi, “please treat me well, Big Brother” because he also said that in C-support too, I love that call back it shows that Takumi has trust with Kamui as a sibling. The JP version shows Takumi’s passion and love for archery through expressing the beauty and striving for perfection.  While EN Takumi is just reactive and too proud. Dammit localization team!
In short EN version made it about duty, dedication and loyalty vs JP version’s sibling bonding and connection.

getting into ace attorney was the worst thing i could’ve done for myself bc yes silly lawyer game but also why is this one of the most wonderfully crafted narratives i’ve ever indulged in
i’ll admit i’m not hard to please in that i give praise generously, but i don’t fall back on extremes unless i’m really into what i’m consuming. shu takumi is a skilled and talented creative; i haven’t felt a game take such great hold over me since i played i was a teenage exocolonist or fe3h.
i have so much to say about ace attorney and my main blog just isn’t the place to endlessly spam so i’ll be writing unedited thoughts here while i process just how good this series is

Danganronpa has its issues but as someone with PTSD I will forever love how Misaki treats Takumi
She seems like she had a pretty okay life! Maybe the most well adjusted character in the series! And to be fair and mention her faults as well, she doesn’t have the best reaction to Takumi at first.
Tumblr media
She meets her partner while everyone in her workspace is talking shit about how he’s so weird and she probably won’t last. She gets defensive, it’s an imperfect but realistic and understandable response. I don’t hold it against her at all. Weirdo man people don’t like who was creeping in the locker, it takes her a minute to let her guard down at all. From an outside view, he seems to just be weird and lazy, so she treats him that way at first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then they work together and she starts to realize he’s not actually a lazy brick wall. His “weird” actions are consistent, they’re not random, and while he’s blunt and not very good with social queues, it’s not intentional or out of malice. Rather than stay irritated with him over these things or force him to change, she decides to try to understand him. Liking small “safe” spaces isn’t a super dangerous coping mechanism, and she is willing to join him to try to get him better.
Tumblr media
Misaki loves Takumi as he is, he doesn’t need to get better or learn to behave in a more neurotypical way for her to love him. They live in a very violent and unkind world, and working for the Special Crimes Unit of the Future Foundation could easily have left her jaded and untrusting of him. But she’s not. She’s kind and loyal and determined. I love her.

Hello! Hope you’re having a great day ✌️
Came to say thank you for your tokupostings, always fun and incredible, definitely storing a lot of stuff in my memory vocabulary salad and some pictures to my phone.
Have nothing substantial to ask but really having “there should more kusakapostings day”. Saw the screens from that Movie I’ll probably not watch and “Kusaka” saying he and Takumi were friends which is a theme sometimes. For some reason. The intricacies of a relationship that are so beautiful and fucking stupid. Tbh I’m always wondering if Takumi hated him as much as fandom says he did, I blacked out whole Faizwatching. Frankly tho, dont care that much and thinking about this from your reblog instead:
Tumblr media
That one promotional series where moe hag Takumi is obsessed with new fish Mari found and Kusaka who just pours water on him… the worst domesticity known to man, incredible actually? And no one will talk about it. Haven’t watched second part so the thought of Kusaka killing new fish Takumi actually likes and then gaslighting him, idk, something something domestic toxic yaoi something something need more funny takusaka jokes in my life
Also I find the fact the person behind Kusaka Evil Rap original song is trans so amazing, the full circle of life
Thank uuuu I like knowing my posting can change someone’s speech irreparably lol
Everyone should be thankful that I’m more of a sentai guy than a rider guy and that Faiz is a bad shitty ass show instead of a good show. If either of these scenarios were the opposite, you’d all unfollow me for yapping abt my ugly-hot cancelled wife too much
I’ll admit my memory of Faiz isn’t the best either bc I binged it in a week while on spring break. My college-fried brain wasn’t in the best condition to try and absorb the utter nonsense that unfolded before my eyes. That and I watched it with the shitty TVN subs bc the better updated subs didn’t exist at that time. Even when I rewatched a bunch of episodes for “finding good clips to make gifs out of for Kusaka Day purposes” (with the better subs too), I still could not tell you the plot. incomprehensible show but it is funny bad for the most part
It’ll never not be weird to me that every subsequent piece of Faiz and Faiz-related media keeps INSISTING that Takumi and Kusaka are besties actually bc ???? no they weren’t? Like okay they warmed up to each other a lil bit by the end of Faiz, Takumi was sad when he found Kusaka’s soot remains after all, but I’d sooner define them as “begrudging allies against the same threat” than “friends”. All of this is def bc Kento Handa and Kohei Murakami are shoot besties irl, sang a gay ass duet of Justiφ's and everything. they willed their incorrect yaoi into existence, fudanshi gods I think
Maaaaaybe I could buy that Takumi thinks of Kusaka as a friend after a lot of time has passed, having matured out of his edgy emo teenager phase. EXCEPT Paradise Regained went “Takumi is still a whiny brooding lil baby even at 40” so fuck my drag ig (these two literally share like 2 minutes of screen time together in PR btw)
Also in PR the fact that KUSAKA is the one saying “oh we were such good friends weh” is even more egregious. This man, had he lived just a lil longer in the og show, was this 🤏 close to inventing a new slur for Takumi. He would NEVER call that bitchass wolf his friend
Tumblr media
I didn’t watch the Murder Case two episode bonanza bc Paradise Regained winded me. I just saw someone else post caps of Takumi cooing at a plastic fish and thought “man they just let Inoue do whatever the fuck, he’s truly living the writers dream”
Honestly though I’m up for fully ignoring established canon bc the concept of bitter old married couple Takumi and Kusaka is in fact very funny to me. When Takumi jokes abt the old ball and chain, Kusaka comes up from behind and nails him in the cock with an actual ball and chain. Faiz has always been comedy actually Inoue has been playing 5D chess with us for two decades now
It is so funny how that rap perfectly suited Kusaka, like it wasn’t made for him but it just feels like it was. paper-mario-wiki truly the best to ever do it on this webbed site

forty days and forty nights (day eighteen!)
(wow these are super short)
“you wanted to see me?”
you walked in the door to your bosses’ office. the couple shared one; the café wasn’t that big, and sharing an office allowed for better uses of the other room that would’ve been used as an office had they not shared.
“yes.” today, only mio, the wife, was in. this wasn’t completely uncommon, but part of you did find yourself preferring her to her husband. “sit down, (y/n).” you hesitantly sit down. you weren’t sure why she wanted you here.
“are you okay, (y/n)?” mio asked gently. you did a double take. this isn’t the sort of thing mio would take you out of work for.
“what?” you replied incredulously.
“you’ve been..” mio groped for words. “.. distracted.”
“distracted?” you repeat. “oh, no, i’ve been fine, really.”
“you’re messing up orders, hon.” mio said gently. you blinked. you didn’t mess up orders. you just didn’t. that’s not who you were.
“i- i’m sorry.” you apologized, shocked at the information. “i must have misheard the customer…”
“you gave mrs. hatsugawa earl grey tea.” mio replied. your brow furrowed at this. everyone in the cafe knows that mrs. hatsugawa orders the same tea, every time. oolong. not earl grey. you felt your frustration growing as your neck flushed in embarrassment.
“i’m sorry. it won’t happen again.” you bow your head slightly.
“i know it won’t.” mio gave you a small smile. “why don’t you go home early today?”
“go home early?” your head snapped back up.
“only if you’d like to.”
“it’s 4:30.” you shook your head. “i’m nearly done anyway, i get off at 6.” you weren’t “nearly done”, it was more so halfway. but how were you supposed to tell her that you had to stay until at least 4:57 in case he came back?
“if you insist,” mio agreed hesitantly. “but if you need anything, talk to someone. talk to me.”
“i will.” you smile and stand up. “thank you. i’m sorry i’ve been out of it, i’ll do better.”
“i know you will.” mio smiled. you nodded before turning and heading back to the main area. takumi glanced up at you briefly as she made a latte (takumi was an absolute prodigy when it came to latte art).
“where were you?” she asked, somewhat absentmindedly as she carefully practiced her craft in the cup.
“mio wanted to talk to me.” you answered, finishing another drink that takumi had seemingly been halfway done making.
“probably because you’ve been distracted.” takumi stated bluntly, as though you didn’t know this.
“you’re right,” you confirmed. “i told her i’d do better.”
“well, don’t let your boyfriend distract you too much.” takumi finished, studying the foamy design for a moment before setting it on the pickup counter, seemingly satisfied.
“are you ever going to not call him that?” you ask playfully.
“i’ll continue to call him your boyfriend, yes,” takumi answered bluntly as you set the second drink next to the latte.
“why do you do that?”
“because i think you two would make a good couple.”
“and what if i don’t want to be a couple?” you raise an eyebrow. “what if i just want to be friends?” takumi only shrugged.
“then it’ll be a code name for him.” she decided. “for when he comes in. i’ll say, ‘(y/n), boyfriend is here’ and you’ll come out to get him his coffee.”
“i see.” you answer slowly, not quite understanding her logic but finding the thought amusing nonetheless.
“it was mrs. hatsugawa who told mio you’re distracted,” takumi blurted out.
“what?” your attention instantly returned to takumi.
“she wasn’t tattling or anything. she looked really worried for you.” takumi reported. “i may joke about your boyfriend, but she really thinks you’re in love.”
“i know.” you sigh. “we’ve discussed it.”
“i think she sees her dead husband and herself in you and your boyfriend.” takumi asserted.
“takumi, don’t be insensitive,” you scold.
“was it insensitive?” takumi didn’t seem to realize.
“i just—“ you sigh and drop the subject. “never mind.”
part of you was relieved. takumi had successfully distracted you from your distraction (which was slightly ironic, but in a funny way). but when 4:56 turned into 4:57, the anxiety came flooding back. he still didn’t come.
“i know you will.”
(don’t forget to comment + give ur thoughts :)

Ugh, that's great. Gant found the main culprit of all his troubles. But he treats Phoenix and Edgeworth in a completely different way:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And about Jake:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gant does not hide his personality. He does not hide his negative attitude towards a person. I guess these 2 years were not easy for Jake, who is still his subordinate. It seems to me that he was not fired only because Gant wanted to keep him under control.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess that's the reason why Gant hates Jake but forgives Phoenix and Edgeworth. Gant made a mistake and got caught - this is fair. But Jake made him make that mistake, so he'll never forget about it. Speaking of revenge. Jake talks a lot about prosecutors and evidence tampering, but he never talks about the murder. People are looking not only for the truth, but also for revenge in his situation. Maybe Jake isn't looking for the killer because he thinks it's Darke?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh. But then who killed Neil? Whom did you blame all these 2 years? Edgeworth?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's about Goodman's murder. Jake doesn't seem to think Miles is capable of murder. Lana? Absolutely not. Jake might think about the accident with Ema because that would explain Lana's behavior. But I don't think so (Aura Blackquill blamed Athena, but Jake and Angel is good with Ema).  Only Scary Man remains. But there is a strange thing. Jake never says anything about Gant, although he is their direct superior, so the most obvious culprit.
Tumblr media
We know why Lana is silent, but we don't know why Jake is silent. Angel does not blame Gant either, although does not like him...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously, both Angel and Jake are aware that Gant is the main villain. He fired them, come on. It's pretty obvious that Lana is just a puppet. And yet, Marshal never mentioned either the murder or Gant. What conclusions can be drawn from this? 1) Perhaps Jake was silent, because otherwise he would have had to tell about Neil. Jake is used to using the detective's pride as the excuse for his sl-9 obsession. He avoids talking about his brother because it still hurts him. 2) Perhaps rationality won over emotions. A detective can't accuse people without evidence even in his head 3) It may be too painful to suspect his colleagues. Too many doubts. 4) Angel and Jake think that Gant is the main culprit. But they talk more about Lana (+Edgeworth) because they feel betrayed. It's more personal. 5) And less scary and dangerous..
Tumblr media
6) They have no evidence against a person with power. They didn't know that this guy could kill his subordinate just because he was unconscious in the wrong place, but Gant is scary without that too. Ok, Shu Takumi just didn't want to spoil the murder mystery. I just feel sad that the game involved so little Jake in the investigation.
Speaking of questions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why. My only explanation is a threat. Look, Jake, what happens to those who try to dig under me. Wait a minute... At the end of the game, they both end up in jail.! Damn it. Let's hope that Jake could get away with a fine.

TGAA 1-1 Spoilers (Live React)
*with spoilers for AA first and second trilogy
finished the first case for the great ace attorney. verdict? i really enjoyed myself. playing tgaa feels like a reintroduction to the ace attorney games that hooked me in the first place.
musings under the cut!
i wasn’t supposed to start my tgaa playthrough until next year bc i wanted to give myself space to be a functioning human being + write ace attorney fic…but then my brother begged me and i am an older sibling before i’m anything else, i guess, so here we are.
first case’s logic was pretty sound. it’s the tutorial so i wasn’t expecting anything groundbreaking. coming from someone who tackled the aa trilogies + aai duology first, the lack of “scientific” autopsy reports adds tension to the courtroom battles that does wonders for increasing stakes. i’m intrigued and a little overwhelmed at the idea of watching passive witnesses during cross-examinations. in a good way, i think. like taking apollo’s perceive ability and loading it with crack and a bit more realism.
there’s some character bloat bc we technically exposed two criminals. nothing too jarring, though it does make the case stretch. leaving the murderer’s motive unexplored reminds me very much of aa4. this case felt like an amalgamation of the dahlia and kristoph trials. two thumbs up!
i remember reading somewhere that shu takumi had a hard time writing apollo bc he’d already exhausted his creativity writing phoenix. clearly that wasn’t a problem when it came to fleshing out ryunosuke bc his character is very discernible from the former, and written in such a refreshing way that you can’t help but be endeared by him. make no mistake though. the real star of this case is his defense counsel/best friend: kazuma asogi.
Tumblr media
oh my god he makes me wanna eat drywall
they put him front and center in this case. a captivating design, a sheathed katana, and a headband that defies the laws of physics makes for an eye catching character. that among uh..
Tumblr media
other……….aesthetic-related considerations.
i didn’t mind the 3D models in spirit of justice very much (don’t look, dd phoenix, trucy, and apollo can’t hurt you) but capcom evidently hit their stride with the tgaa models because! because!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bro.
setting aside the fact that the two main characters constantly reaffirm their friendship plus kazuma calls ryunosuke partner no joke 10+ times throughout the trial, i am loving the implication that ryunosuke very well could have been found guilty had he chosen not to defend himself. kazuma’s ‘oh how sad, you didn’t believe i could get you off’ hit a little too close to home. for narrative reasons i hope they turn that into resentment. they probably won’t though.
the central theme here is belief in your client. at some point during the trial, kazuma throws in the towel, but ryunosuke doesn’t. is this not good set up for a best friend-turned-rival/enemy plot point?
kazuma seems like your typical justice-oriented defense attorney but i am sensing something very dark about him that may or may not be proven correct as i continue playing. he says something about proving a client innocent by all means necessary or something close to that effect. im guessing that isn’t a good thing if dd has anything to say abt the phrase.
as of writing this, i’ve just finished up the whole case and kazuma’s got a secret mission + a deep fascination with ryunosuke’s talent for pointing out contradictions…yeah ok this guy has to be an antagonist in the making right? right???
please don’t actually spoil me, i am shooting theories into the dark bc i derive enjoyment from being proven right or wrong
at the very least, kazuma isn’t as honest as he makes himself out to be. i have a sneaking suspicion this guy is going to pull the wool over my eyes one way or another.
theories be damned, though, i’m interested to see how shu takumi will balance having 2 best friends/defense attorneys in this game. i’m mindful of bloat but cautiously optimistic that he can make it work, unlike whatever the hell took place in the apollo justice trilogy.
i’m still doing my ace attorney first trilogy + aai duology replay so my blog posts are going to be an odd mix of everything. sorry abt that…
tl;dr we are sooooo back

Salvage Showcase: Ted Chikatilo
Danganronpa Killer Killer...yeah.
If you weren’t aware of it before, I am not super fond of Killer Killer’s story. For me, it’s the worst entry in Danganronpa. If I had to describe its main problem, this showcase will probably be a good way to sum it up.
Tumblr media
Summary
Ted Chikatilo is an enigmatic case. He’s a graduate from Hope’s Peak Academy that became known as an infamous serial killer during the Tragedy. His talent is being the Ultimate Pyrotechnician (or Pyrotechnist/Fireworks Artist according to some translations) and its unknown what class batch he was in. It’s unknown if he was a serial killer during or even before he entered Hope’s Peak.
During the Tragedy his main form of killing was by slaughtering people with his fireworks. Sometimes by shoving one into a person’s mouth and causing that to explode, more frequently by using an arm cannon that he somehow crafted himself to shoot out his deadly rockets. He’s known as a Million Killer, the same as Remnants of Despair.
Ted was namedropped in chapter 2 as being the killer Misaki and Mekuru sought after for the parasite killings (but that wasn’t actually the case, it was someone else that Takumi would kill in the chapter). From there, he makes a reoccurring appearance in chapters 3-6 of Killer Killer, acting as essentially the first real ‘boss’ Takumi has to defeat and seemingly the one to kidnap both girls. Ted wants to be the one to kill the Killer Killer and properly meets him at the Killing Festival, an underground serial killer gambling ring. He interrupts a match between Takumi and Juzo, who was disguised as Ted to infiltrate the place and confirm an investigation on Takumi’s status as Killer Killer (and was the actual one to kidnap both Misaki and Mekuru). Ted escapes the Festival and has Takumi meet him up top of a skyscraper, appearing after Takumi killed another killer - Kenji Tsuruhashi.
Ted and Takumi fight, with Ted seemingly getting the upperhand thanks to use of his brainwashing fireworks – spectacles so amazing that it leaves one immobilized, lost in a cutesy, childish hallucination of talking bunnies and bears. He even gets Misaki, one of the protagonists, trapped in it as well. But before he could kill him Takumi intervenes, having only pretended to have been brainwashed to avoid revealing his status as Killer Killer to Misaki.
Ted is ranked 65 out of 100. While Takumi admires his dedication to his craft, he points out Ted only has love for his ‘lame fireworks’. This ticks off Ted enough to shoot a barrage at Takumi, who deflects it back at Ted. As he dies in the explosion, he laughs wondering if he’ll be able to shine beautifully.
In general, Ted is a showman obsessed with his own fireworks and cruel sadism. He only wants to see them go off, killing others in a mix of gore and beautfiul explosions. He holds his talent in very high regards and its to the point that calling his craft lame is enough to set him off.
Rundown/Personal Thoughts
Now Ted here is one of many of Killer Killer’s wasted cast and best represents the manga’s main theme in a rather ironic note:
All flash and no substance.
He’s an Ultimate!!! He’s also a mad bomber that loves killing people with his fireworks and can brainwash people with them!! He’s a showman! He’s...he’s...
Got nothing aside from that. It’s not even hyperbole, he just...has nothing else to him. I mean, its clear the artist had fun drawing expressions for him so good to know someone got enjoyment from doing their job?
Normally, I would divide the rundown/analysis portion and my personal thoughts, but when you have a character is this determined to be one trait only, there isn’t anything to analyze? I mean, I could say Ted is a reflection of Hope’s Peak students hyperfocusing on their talents, but literally every other entry, Hell even DR3, did it way better and had it really hit the character that suffered from it. Ted’s just a prideful douchebag with an explosive fetish. That’s the only thing Killer Killer is concerned with for him and I don’t feel the need to extract meaning for a character the writer didn’t want to give.
Tumblr media
He’s almost insultingly shallow for a guy that’s here for, if you considered that namedrop in chapter 2, nearly half of Killer Killer’s story. The story acts like he’s important, but sure doesn’t want to spend time truly making him so.
Heck, that’s pretty much the theme with Killer Killer in a nutshell. It’s insultingly shallow and impressively ballsy with how it usually avoids wanting to flesh out its own concepts and characters. Especially with Ted, because even the other killers got at least something to explain why they’re doing what they do. Even if for some its batshit insane. And its not even an issue of the writers being unable to flesh out a character, since the very chapter Ted debuts in we get a good chunk of the story revolving around the villain of the week’s motivations. So the writer can make it work and with how long Ted was around, it could have worked...but God do they choose not to work at all.
Ted just shows up, blows stuff up, fight Takumi and dies. It’s like the writer was enamored with the ‘idea’ of a mad bomber Ultimate...but it stops there. They wanted an explosive fight and nothing else. In a series like Danganronpa, where its stories revolve around how the cast feels and develops in bleak situations, shallowness like this sticks out like a sore thumb.
Why did Ted become a mad bomber? Why’s he attacking Future Foundation or wanting to personally fight Killer Killer? Is he maybe apart of the class batch of one of the Directors of Future Foundation. Perhaps he could have connected with the Killing Festival? Be a Host of it or something? How did he make his weapons?
Interesting questions like these are stuff that Killer Killer either refuses to do in favor of pretty fights.
Eugh.
Next up, on a better note, I’ll be looking into one of the characters from the controversial Danganronpa: Togami. Hope you enjoyed the read for this!
