The Grumps’ Danganronpa V3 playthrough is shaping up to be their best Dangan playthrough solely because Arin gave Kokichi the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Also, now that I’m rewatching the story, I’m actually surprised by the level of thought that was put into this. Now I’m not saying the story is good, none of the writing in this series is great, but I do appreciate the commitment to the game’s theme of franchise stagnation.

Everyone knows by now that the twist is that the main villain is the Danganronpa franchise itself, that the franchise got so big that the world has become obsessed with it. We’re now 53 seasons into this Danganronpa show, hence why the game is called V3 (V = 5). So I like how the game feels like the writers had run out of ideas and are just putting whatever crap they can come up with out there, hoping the fanbase likes it. I mean…a robot high schooler? 5 Monokumas instead of 1? Even the ultimate talents feel like they’re scraping at the bottom of the barrel, such as Maki being a child caregiver, Kokichi being a supreme leader, Himiko being a mage, Kiyo being an anthropologist, and Gonta being an entomologist.

It’s giving, “we used up all the good ideas already, so let’s just use whatever we can find in the dictionary as a talent.”

There’s also some other nice touches that help give off the feeling that this is a franchise that is stagnating. Kaede makes a weird lewd comment out of nowhere and Shuichi points out how weird the comment was by saying she sounded like a perverted old man. Knowing how perverted the dialogue is in the Danganronpa franchise, the scene gives off the feeling that the writers are just recycling the scripts. The Monokubs literally talk about flubbing their lines. But the biggest point that I didn’t catch the first time around is that the characters don’t have any idea why they’re even there. At least in the first two games, the reason was that they’re going to school. Here, they don’t even have a reason why they’re gathered together. It’s like the writers couldn’t come up with a reason and said, “Ah, fuck it, who cares, let’s just get to the killing game.”

It really gives off the feeling that you’re watching a franchise that’s several seasons in and the writers don’t know what they’re doing anymore. Which honestly works since that’s LITERALLY the twist.

So…could it be that V3 might actually be the best written Dangan game? Hmm…

-He's kinda insecure about himself, of course he's confident, but he fears you're talking about him behind his back or people are telling you things that would majority effect your relationship.

-Remind him you still care, and you aren't going to leave him.

-It helps, but hearing you and your friends giggle makes him nervous.

-The best way to fix it would be to get him to meet your friends.

-Once he starts to really know them, that's when the fear dies down.

-I could see him starting rumors and gossip for chaos and pranks.

-He often gets his way since he is the "Ultimate Supreme Leader", after all.

-Your gossip could be very small, maybe just local gossip. His is more "world wide" as he put it.

DRV3 meets SDR2

A drabble for that idea where the DRV3 cast also went through a simulation.

He’s been speculated, many times, if he really was the Ultimate Liar and not the Ultimate Supreme Leader with how often his mouth spews bullshit. 

But everything was a lie, so what does it matter anymore?

There’s the strange way he had to look at this man, with dark hair cropped under the cheap, shitty lighting that fills this facility, claiming to have all the talents under the sun, and simply trust that their talents weren’t real.

“But, you have them now.” He stated, again in this monotone voice that grated his ears. He sounded so bored while everyone else's world crashed around him like the predictable little pawns they were not that he was faring that much better.

“You sure seem pretty nonchalant about this! I sure thought you’d be more touchy-feely, Mr. Kamukura, sir.” 

Heterochromatic eyes immediately sharpened toward him. He heard the way his classmates whisper, how loudly they go, “Kamukura? That guy’s name is Hajime Hinata, isn’t it?”, but he ignored it all. Despite his sly tone, he knew his face is only dead serious. He heard all about this man in passing, from the whispers of other Remnants and snooping into places he got into with more ease than he probably should’ve. There was no use playing pretend with this man. He was a cold, unfeeling robot- full offense Kiibo- but a masterful genius who contributed to the Tragedy.

“I… apologize.” Kamukura’s tone turned more contemplative, but still undeniably monotone. He even had the audacity to nod at him, as if acknowledging what he said, but he knew he’s not even going to attempt to address it. “I harbour empathy for you all, despite how I express it.” 

That was the worst lie he ever heard, but the man had no tells suggesting it, or perhaps he will never be able to recover the ability to understand a person from their body language. So what’s the point then? None of this was going to be worthwhile. Might as well tune it out. It's all white noise, until-

“I was once a talentless nobody, and I gained every talent at once.”

“How… is that possible?” Shuichi’s voice chimed in, and Kokichi started. The detective hadn’t made a single sound since everyone came in.

“Human experimentation.” 

Silence. 

“I have no desire to discuss it. I hardly remember it, regardless. The fact of the matter is, I was talentless, a Reserve Course student of Hope’s Peak, and well… I obtained a talent. Talents.”

He looked around the room. “You would be going through an experience. The inverse of my situation applies to you, so I cannot say much. The talents you had in the game were false, but that does not mean no portion of it was real. I know some of you have already recovered some of your past memories.

Being talentless does not mean useless. This I swear to you.”

“Easy for you to say! You have every talent at your disposal! We lost the one thing that makes us-!”

“‘-who you are.’” Kamukura finished. “Predictable. Bor-.” A pause. 

Suddenly, his eyebrows furrowed and a scowl painted his features. This was Hajime. “I’m sorry about him, he’s trying. Look, just take it from me, even when I was talentless I was probably the most sane and helpful out of all the damn Ultimates in my killing game. Hope’s Peak were monsters for making us think that not being labeled as Ultimates suddenly meant you were useless. They forced society to care about a select few individuals and look where it got us.” 

“Your talents didn’t make you who you are. You made your way through because of everything, and the talents you had didn’t really help much in the end, did they? Because they sure as hell didn’t help me.”

synopsis: what's it like to be with someone who has an amazing sense of fashion and an adoration for both dressing up and their lover? you can ask some of these guys for the answer!

shuichi saihara

as someone who is very self conscious (same), he's really careful about choosing what to wear and how to look like

so he never really imagined himself together with an ultimate fashion designer, but he wouldn't have it any other way <3!

he loves your style. adores it. looks up to it. he isn't exactly one to focus on wearing something flashy but what he does and can do is appreciate beauty! so when he sees you try on some of the outfits you've made he can't help but to stare and be amazed

shuichi is never one to turn down the outfits you ask him to try on. although there are a few outfits that he would rather not be seen wearing, he still tries them on :). although only if you two are alone, he would die of embarrassment if anyone else were to see

he absolutely loves the outfits that you put together for him! it helps boost his confidence a bit, and it makes you happy so he's hitting two birds with one stone here

i feel like you, kaede, and kaito would get along very well, so that makes shuichi much more happy seeing his friends get along with his significant other :).

very supportive! on some days where you feel like the outfits you make don't really meet the standard, he's quick to try to dispell these negative thoughts

hype man! hype man! though a quiet hype man, he's still your number one fan! whenever he sees you get praised for the outfits you worked hard on, he can't help but feel his heart warm up

it just makes him really happy to have his wonderful fashionista get the praise and acknowledgement they deserve

likes the idea of matching clothes with you but he gets a bit shy about the thought at first. in the end with a bit of convincing and reassurance, he'll agree to it and will end up loving it!

he has this habit of toying with you by hiding your tools and supplies which is VERY annoying >:( but he has a cute face so can you really get angry...

he's like one of your biggest supporters, will not tolerate anyone hating on your designs because he is the law which means he is always right!!!

would totally wear the clothes you ask him to try on zero hesitation. he says they make him look cooler!

the type to express his excitement and amusement when he sees you wearing some clothes you've designed

will not hold back on compliments that's for sure

thought your talent was pretty stupid at first but once she's seen some of your designs, she'll learn to appreciate it

she's not one for fashion. she doesn't really care much about what she wears and if it's fashionable or not. she's more for wearing whatever will make her comfortable and makes her job easy, so she didn't exactly expect to get together with you, the ultimate fashion designer. but, she wouldn't have it any other way

gives amazing constructive criticism. would do her best to word things in a way where you won't get offended, but her advice would be clear enough to where you'll be able to improve your design and make it better than it already was earlier

would probably refuse to trying on the clothes you make for her at first. it's not that she hates your designs- she just gets a bit shy and you asking her to do something like try on your work flusters her a bit. give her some time and she'll warm up to the idea and do it- albeit still a bit hesitant

will NOT tolerate anyone bullshitting your designs. you're the ultimate fashion designer, not them, so what gives them the right to say anything as if they're the expert??? don't listen to those people she'll say. you are more knowledgeable they're simply a bunch of nosy people who have their nose shoved so far up their own ass

this was so long overdue! i'm terribly sorry that it's been months since i've written for danganronpa, i've been falling in and out of the fandom constantly which has obstructed me from writing, and if it wasn't that i'd usually be so unsatisfied with my writing that i'd end up restarting and rewriting until I get burnt out :( but! that doesn't matter, i've finished this request and i shall proceed to the next ones soon enough! don't forget to stay hydrated and healthy, keep safe my stars!

This is under the assumption that Kaito purposefully omitted information about the hangar , which I'm sure of because literally nobody knows what happened in there, but yeah I was thinking... it would not do him, nor anyone else any good for him to walk up to everyone post-trial and be like "yeah Kokichi wasn't evil and did all of this to try and save us actually" (even if he did believe it or somehow that came straight from Kokichi himself) because it just wouldn't work .

Kaito's belief can only go so far, (as in, not everyone has his affinity to place so much trust in someone, AND ALWAYS BE RIGHT, especially not in Kokichi considering the circumstances)

and nobody believed in Kokichi except for Kaito, (albeit everyone was well within their right to not have the most positive opinion of him even in death) and the only time he could do so was moments before his death . Putting aside his pride -- something he often couldn't even do for the two closest people to him -- and a long-term rivalry for this poisoned, sickly boy who was entrusting him with his life .

Kaito was his legacy; whatever happened in that hangar dies with them alone .  Kokichi could've very well died afraid and in pain, but as long as Kaito had a script, and an exisal- he was this selfish, vindictive puppetmaster masquerading about the trial with little care for who gets caught in the crossfire, so long as he gets to stare down the mastermind and claim that he had won. The survivors will never Kokichi's true intentions; they're meant to take what they saw at face value. With no way to prove anything definitively there are infinitely many truths they could possibly believe in . Anything could've happened . This is what makes Kaito- the thematic embodiment of faith and trust- the one to carry out his plan so significant.

In my opinion, for him to go into explicit detail about what was said and done in the hangar- to relay the full truth- would be to dishonor Kokichi . Whatever happened in the hangar, if they had spent their final days alive there fighting, talking, or maybe even just being honest and vulnerable,  nobody needed to know .

But I also think about Kaito's internal turmoil that came with watching Kokichi devise a crime scene while slowly succumbing to poison . They're both in pain , on borrowed time -- they're just kids and it's miserable . The situation that they were in left them at their lowest after weeks of pretending that they were untouchable . Forced them to confront their mortality and their weaknesses . He has to watch the almighty Ultimate Supreme Leader struggle to even breathe . Minutes before putting him to death for a plan that he will never know was actually successful.

Kaito couldn't act heroic or offer any platitudes --there wasn't a need for that, not when Kokichi could already see right through him-- and lord knows what Kokichi "I Don't Have a Guilty Conscience" Oma felt after driving the both of them into this stalemate which lead to Kaito dragging him by an open wound on the floor . Chapter five really just put the two most emotionally unavailable people in the worst possible situation and told them to Figure It Out.

And Kaito really just . had to take all of that to his grave . Told everyone not to cry for him, send him off with one last smile !! Smiles moments before his death because he entrusts Shuichi and the people he loves to end the game, that maybe all of those hours of pain he and Kokichi endured in that hangar could actually be worth it .

Or maybe I don't have a full understanding of the guys yet *shrug*

“He was just messing with me, he does that for everybody.”Tsumugi deadpanned at him. “I have never heard him talk to anyone else that way before.”

“Oh.” Miu’s expression smoothed over only slightly and her shoulders relaxed. “Well, I guess he did owe me a date when we got out of here…” She hesitated again, musing. “So… I am kind of upset he’s dead. Because he was pretty nice…? And he liked my things…”

As soon as the door closed, Kokichi turned to look at him, lifting the spoon with a big grin. “Who wants the airplane~? ♪”Shuichi glowered at him. “Never say that again.”

“She's gone now, so let's talk about something more fun,” Kokichi suggested lightly. “Liiike… did I ever tell you about that one time I dated a ghost?”Shuichi choked on the breath he was trying to take.“It was only short-term– it lasted, like, three months at most. He was all about granting my wishes or whatever.” Kokichi rolled his eyes. “We broke up when I dropped out of school to be an evil supreme leader full time.”

Kokichi glowered at him. “I'm going to make Himiko turn your bones inside out.”

“I'm Kaito. That's Kokichi, the Ultimate Supreme Pain In My Ass.”

Dealing with Kokichi was not something she had the emotional strength to do at the moment. She would rather rip each individual strand of hair out of her head than talk to a grumpy, hurting Kokichi.

“After not murdering me at my most vulnerable, I felt a deep connection between us spark, so now we’re soul-bound as best friends,” Kokichi sneered, the fake sparkle in his eyes disappearing as his expression hardened into a glare. “I don't want you here either. I don't like you.”

“Shuichi’s been asking for you.”Kokichi stared at the nurse, the gears slowly turning in his head. Well. So much for the rules.

“HA!” Kokichi shouted at Kaito, jabbing a victorious finger towards him as he leapt from his seat.

“I dunno. I’ve lost track,” Kokichi replied. Y’know, like a liar.

Kokichi giggles in turn and nods with Shuichi's statement, gripping his hand and swinging their arms.

Rantaro Amami:

Hmm, Mr. Mysterious, huh? He's always so calm and collected, he’s hiding something, I just know it! But that makes him interesting. I'm curious of what's on his mind all the time. He sounds like a trustworthy person. But that was a lie! Rantaro is also really chill to talk to! :D

Kaede Akamatsu:

I think Kaede is too optimistic for her own good! I mean, over-the-top optimistic. It's a bit annoying... But she can be pretty cool sometimes too, she has some serious talent with that piano! She's a really good leader, but obviously not as good as I am. When she has an idea she is very pushy and I think that's boring.

Ryoma Hoshi:

I don't dislike Ryoma but I also don't like him. It's dissapointing that he finds no meaning in life and doesn't talk alot to others... He's kinda just a boring loner that's impressivly good at tennis. And he's so small! when I first met him I thought he was a little kid nishishishi~ please don't tell him I said that! :|

Kirumi Tojo:

Mooooooom? Just kidding! Hihi~ She's kind of a killjoy. She's always on my case whenever I try to cause some trouble! But Kirumi is also a talented maid. She's got a lot of skills and she's super efficient. I wonder how she always helps others and never spends time for herself!

Angie Yonaga:

The Atua freak? She's a dissapointment. The only thing she does is ramble about this so called Atua! I doubt she can actually make dicisions on herself. She’s always so cheerful and smiley, but that makes her so suspicious!

Tenko Chabashira:

Ugh, she's so annoying! Always going on about 'degenerate males'. But it’s fun to push her buttons! I wish I could tape her mouth shut forever. I should ask her to teach me Neo-Akaido too! Then I could surprise attack her with her own moves and my wish could come true :]

Korekiyo Shinguji:

He's weird... and creepy! "Sister this, Sister that" and his stupid mask... honestly, I don't know how the others put up with him. But as long as he doesn't summon a demon in my room i supposse he's okay.

Miu Iruma:

The itty bitty bitchlet. She's way too vulgar! I kinda respect her for actually being smart, unlike certain people... nishishi. If she wasn't such an annoying pervert she'd be almost interesting. I mean, how can someone with such a huge mouth even function?

Gonta Gokuhara:

The big gentlemen! He's so gullible it's almost boring... but i guess his heart is in the right place. He's also very strong! He could lift me in the air, no problem. It's kinda dissapointing he likes bugs so much. Those are just the worst! :(

Kaito Momota:

Ah, the Ultimate idiot! A wannabe hero who's fun to mess with. He's always so self-centered and calls others his side kick while he doesn't do anything! But I gotta admit, he's got guts! If he wasn't so heroic I think he would be... fine :/

Aww, Shumai! The shy, serious detective. He tries so hard to be emotionless, but he’s so easy to fluster! He's one of the few people here who’s actually worth the time of the Ultimate Supreme Leader. I wish he would stand up for himself more often. He'd be way more entertaining then! <3

Ah, Maki Roll! So cold and serious—makes it even more fun to mess with her! She acts all tough, but deep down, I think she’s just a softie for Kaito. And maybe she’ll just kill me in my sleep... who knows! Either way, I’ll keep poking the bear. It’s more exciting that way, right?

"Hey, everyone. I'm Shuichi Saihara, and I'm called the Ultimate Detective. Ah... D-Don't get too attached to the title, though, it's more symbolic these days than anything else, heh..."

"Well, heya! My turn then? I'm Kaito Momota, the heroic Luminary Of The Stars, and the Ultimate Astronaut! Don't be shy, I'm a cool guy and I don't bite."

Hello!! Can I request rantaro and nagito with an ultimate politican! reader who is kind of heartless and cruel however quite sweet if you get to know them, and just really misunderstood since they can’t express their emotions or feelings that well. This makes the rest of the cast dislike the reader for being so harsh and insensitive be it regularly or in trials?

(YES OMG) Rantaro:

Sometimes people would find you as boring because of your ultimate. They didn’t know that deep down, you never liked arguing, you did it for good. You would have a hard time getting along with others, especially Miu since you were portrayed as a careless person. But nobody actually tried getting to know you more, because they would just leave in the next few minutes after initiating a conversation with you. Nobody in the cast liked you much. You felt bad and tried your best to be nice to others but it was hard for you. You weren’t ever good at expressing your emotions to many.

Until someone did. Rantaro Amami. The ultimate .. survivor? That was an interesting one. Well, besides from the “Ultimate supreme leader”. Rantaro didn’t leave you just like that, he wanted to know you better because he could read you like a book. You just wanted to get along with someone. So thats what he did. He became your friend.

After some time with hanging out with Rantaro. You turned out to be actually really sweet. Sure, he was criticized for spending time with you. But he loved seeing how happy you were after being in the shadows for so long.

Until you were framed. You were being accused of being the blackened for “killing” Miu iruma, the ultimate Inventor. Rantaro tried so hard to defend you, but everyone was pointing their fingers at you.

Wait? Shuichi admits to making a mistake in the analysis and calls out the true killer, Gonta. He was later executed, and you broke down in tears In front of all the ultimates. The just, stared. Some felt bad but people like Maki and Kiibo weren’t buying it. Rantaro took you to his room and you stayed there for the rest of the night. So much for trying to gain the others trust.

Nagito:

As rude and sarcastic as you were, the only thing that would affect Nagito is if you were talking about despair. Every time you would try and insult him before leaving or storming out of a room. He would brush off the insult, agree with you, or praise you like hell before following you and watching your every move. (THAT SOUNDS CREEPY-)

It seemed like you couldn’t get rid of him, so if you can’t beat him, join him. (Not rlly though)

You tried getting to know each other and you and him had quite a few similarities. And to be fair, you and him made a cute couple duo. As serious as you were, you tried being less harsh to the more sensitive and friendly people in the game, like Mikan, Ibuki and Sonia. Nobody enjoyed your attitude, especially hiyoko. Who would insult you and degrade you for as long as she saw you in front of her. She soon got scared of you because you always gave her this creepy “death glare”. Or maybe it was Nagito freaking her out? Nah, can’t be. It actually was

And after a few trials, you got more loosened up and became less aggressive day by day, and with your chances of survival increasing, your relationship with nagito did too. It went from following each other around to holding hands and hugging you from behind. Of course, you tried your best not to get TOO attached to him, but your attempts failed successfully(?)
